Martin Roberts would ‘love’ to do Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Roberts would “love” to join this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ line up.
The 56-year-old television presenter confessed that it would be “very funny” if he were to join the BBC ballroom show as his former ‘Homes Under The Hammer’ co-host Lucy Alexander is desperate to take part in the programme and if he got the gig before her it would “do her nut”.
Speaking about his desire to learn the cha-cha-cha in an interview with Express.co.uk, he said: “I bought dinner with Bruno Toniolo, I think I can bend his ear. I know Lucy would love to do ‘Strictly’ but I know if I got on Strictly before she did, it would absolutely do her nut! I don’t want to do it for just that reason of course but it would be very funny! She would go absolutely basket, it would be very, very funny.”
The television personality appeared on jungle reality show ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’ in 2016 and thinks his foray into reality TV may have scuppered his chances of getting the call from producers on ‘Strictly’.
He said: “I think I was told you can’t go on ‘Strictly’ if you’ve been on ‘I’m A Celebrity…’, but it’s been three years, it’s approaching that amount. I thought I would have had a call by now it’s looking unlikely.”
Martin went on to speculate over whether his former co-star Lucy, 48, will ever return to ‘Homes Under The Hammer’ and insisted that although it was her choice to leave the show her spirit definitely lives on.
He said: “It’s her decision, the thing is, she’s still on it because the way the show works, we revisit properties. So she’s always around.”

Anna Vakili’s sister told off by Love Island bosses over Jordan Hames rant

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Vakili’s sister was given a lecture by ‘Love Island’ bosses after sharing a “distasteful” post about her sibling’s ex Jordan Hames.
Mandi Vakili claims producers “advised” her to remove a post in which she raged that the 24-year-old model was a “Shrek lookalike” and had been “lying through the gaps in his f***ing teeth” on the show.
She said: “So I did get a call from the exec producers of ‘Love Island’ and they gave me a little bit of a lecture.
“I mean they didn’t tell me to take it off, they sort of advised me to, they said it was a bit distasteful and I wasn’t handling it in the right way.”
Mandi admits she was trying to say “anything to hurt his feelings” after he tried to crack on with India Reynolds in the villa, two days after asking Anna to be his girlfriend, which led to the pair splitting up.
Speaking on The Reality Tea podcast, Mandi added: “I tried to defend myself by saying I’m not part of the show, I’m not on ‘Love Island’.
“I’m not one of the cast, I’m just a normal person on Instagram, I can say whatever I want.
“But they were like, ‘You’re Anna’s sister now, you’re in the limelight, whatever you say affects people, it affects Jordan and his family’ and all of this stuff.
“It’s so funny cos like me, I’m saying I’ll throw all this shade at his teeth, it’s not like I’ve got the perfect teeth.
“It’s just sort of like anything to hurt his feelings because he hurt Anna’s, you know.”
Mandi’s Instagram Stories rant came minutes after a ‘Love Island’ episode had shown Anna furious at Jordan for trying to crack on with India.
In a video, Anna’s sister fumed: “I can’t even f***ing believe that this 23-year-old f***ing Shrek lookalike has been playing a game with Anna this whole f***ing time.
“He’s been lying through the gaps in his f***ing teeth this whole time.
“Literally, that’s where he’s been hiding all his feelings, in them gaps … now it makes sense why they’re there. (sic)”

Demi Sims worries a man will turn Megan Barton-Hanson’s head

OHMYGOSSIP — Demi Sims worries Megan Barton-Hanson’s head will be turned by a man.
The ‘Only Way Is Essex’ star has confessed she definitely fancies the ‘Love Island’ beauty – who she met whilst appearing on ‘Celebs Go Dating’ – but thinks her friend is ” a lot more nervous” about dating girls.
She said: “Megan is older than me but the girls thing is a lot newer for her. I think she is a lot more nervous dating girls because it is new to her. I’m a little bit more experienced. I lay everything out while she is a lot more reserved. We went on a double date with guys but had more fun together. We really fancy each other and there is a spark there. But I am here to date other people on the show so just seeing how it goes. You aren’t allowed to date another celebrity but my cousin Joey (Essex) did it so it runs in the family. ”
And the 22-year-old television personality insists Megan is her type.
She added: “Megan is definitely my type. She is a very pretty girl, you can’t deny that and she has a cute personality. We are just going to see what happens. I’ve never dated anyone in the public eye so I’m not sure how that would pan out, so we will just have to see. If we did start seeing each other properly I’m sure Chloe would approve. I don’t see why she wouldn’t.”
Demi feels there is “double the threat” of Megan’s head being turned because she likes men and women.
She told The Sun Online: “I may bring her on TOWIE but I would be scared of one of the guys trying to snap her up. That’s the problem with someone who is into both guys and girls, you’ve got double the threat.”

Mike Bushell confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Mike Bushell is the latest star confirmed for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 53-year-old sports presenter admits he thought BBC had called the wrong person when he was offered the chance to join the line-up, but he is no stranger to people thinking he has been on the Latin and ballroom show because he is often confused for presenter Chris Hollins.
Speaking on ‘BBC Breakfast’, he said: “It feels like a weird dream. I’ve known a few weeks.
“I thought they’d got the wrong person, genuinely.
“Because for years people have got me confused with Chris Hollins, who won in 2009.
“This happens every week, someone says, ‘Can I have a selfie?’ They’re in the middle of the selfie, ‘My partner loved you on ‘Strictly’, and I’m thinking, ‘Do I say I’ve never been on ‘Strictly’ or do I keep quiet.’ ”
Mike has managed to keep the news quiet from most people, but he had to tell his wife Emily, who he married in May.
He said: “I told my new wife because she was wondering why I was doing funny moves around the lounge.
“We had the first dance at the wedding at the end of May but it was more jumping up and down really, so I wouldn’t really call it practice.”
Mike is keen to “fly the flag for all dad dancers” on the show, and is prepared for a “physical challenge”.
He added: “I’m flying the flag for all dad dancers. It’ll be a steep learning curve.
“I’m not underestimating the physical challenge.”
Mike is the sixth person announced for this year’s line-up after Catherine Tyldesley, Saffron Barker, David James, Chris Ramsey and Emma Barton were confirmed this week.

Jared Leto in talks for The Little Things

OHMYGOSSIP — Jared Leto is in talks for ‘The Little Things’.
The 47-year-old star is being lined up for a role as a serial killer in the Warner Bros. movie, which Denzel Washington and Rami Malek have also been in negotiations to join.
According to Variety, Washington will take on the role of deputy sheriff Deke who joins forces with a detective – portrayed by Malek – to track down the killer.
John Lee Hancock will write and direct the movie, which is scheduled to start shooting this autumn.
It wouldn’t be the first time Leto has shot a Warner Bros. movie, after starring as The Joker in ‘Suicide Squad’, and he featured in 2017 motion picture ‘Blade Runner 2049’.
And earlier this year, Leto admitted he would “definitely” be up for reprising his role as The Joker following his 2016 portrayal.
He said: “I would definitely play The Joker again. It all depends on the script and the circumstances as it always does.”
Leto’s latest movie saw him star in ‘The Outsider’ last year, which told the story of his US prisoner character becoming a member of the Japanese yakuza, a transnational crime syndicate originating in the country.
The ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ star has wrapped filming on ‘Morbius’, after starring as the titular superhero, and the Sony movie will also feature Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson.
What’s more, Leto – who is the lead singer for Thirty Seconds to Mars – recently turned his hand to documentary producing on ‘A Day in the Life of America’.

Black Widow ‘should be the best movie’ Marvel makes

OHMYGOSSIP — Marvel Studios have promised ‘Black Widow’ “should be the best movie that we make”.
Victoria Alonso, Marvel Studios’ executive vice-president of production, says the whole studio feels “pressure” to make a perfect film following the release of ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
Speaking at the SIGGRAPH (Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics) conference, Alonso said: “If we don’t make a good movie, that’s on us. The pressure internally is far more than the media and the fans give us. We try to do things that are not the same. That are a little different. We take a risk … We can’t do the same all the time.”
And Alonso says there are “so many stories to tell” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
She added: “There are so many stories to tell. The thing about Marvel is we have 6,000 characters in our library. There will be children forever telling these stories.”
Meanwhile, Florence Pugh previously revealed she feels excited by the boldness of the ‘Black Widow’ script.
The 23-year-old actress – who stars alongside Scarlett Johansson in the much-discussed Marvel movie – said: “I was excited to see how bold it was – and to see how raw it was … and to see how sad it was. It was a script that I didn’t expect to see associated with this.
“That was part of the reason I got so excited, and with Cate Shortland attached [to direct] and telling the next part of [the Black Widow’s] history], it was only thrilling to be a part of.”
Scarlett wants the ‘Black Widow’ movie to “elevate” the superhero genre.
Speaking about the eagerly-awaited film, she explained: “I think even just looking at Cate Shortland’s filmography and knowing she’s directing this film… Like, it all clicks together, you understand, people say, ‘What’s the movie like? What does it look like? What clues can you give us?’
“The biggest clue I can give you is that Cate Shortland is directing it. And her movies are so brutal and breathtaking and raw and truthful and like visually masterful … that’s what I envision for the Black Widow and that’s how we can elevate the genre with ‘Black Widow’.”

Amy Walsh praises Michael Praed following his Emmerdale exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Walsh says Michael Praed treated her like a “real-life daughter” on ‘Emmerdale’.
The 32-year-old actress has paid tribute to the 59-year-old star after his Dales character Frank Clayton was killed off in last night’s (01.08.19) double bill while rescuing his daughter Tracy Metcalfe, played by Amy, from the Sharmas’ factory after it caught fire.
She wrote on Instagram: “We will love and miss this gorgeous man more than he will ever know. A true gent. A true talent. A true performer/storyteller. He treated me like a real life daughter and I love him to bits. What an exit! The @emmerdale building will never be the same without you Michael Praed…Michael Praed (sic)”
Frank appeared to have rescued Tracy and escaped relatively unscathed from the burning building.
But as he was walking outside the factory a huge explosion sent him flying into a van and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Amy admitted earlier this week she had put her body through “hardcore craziness” while filming Emmerdale’s factory fire scenes.
She said: “I was trapped in a studio for two days with smoke. It was all health and safety safe, but you did feel like you were next to open flames.
“You were blowing your nose and it was like being on the Underground.
“It was hardcore. Coughing and putting your body through that kind of craziness is hard work, but I love it.”
Amy admitted knowing one of the cast members were leaving added to the emotion of the plot.
She said: “It’s been a sad, emotional storyline because you know someone is going at the end of it, but at the same time wonderful because it’s such a big stunt and big episode that we’re all really proud of.”

Love Island’s Joanna Chimonides admits to kissing Michael Griffiths

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Joanna Chimonides has admitted to kissing Michael Griffiths.
The pair were spotted snogging backstage at the Kisstory On The Common event in Clapham, south London, but she previously denied it on her Instagram.
Speaking on Fubar Radio, Joanna said: “At the point when things went on with Michael and Amber, I was like, ‘No, never go back there,’ and when I was spending time with Michael, yep we had a little peck, a little kiss. That’s absolutely fine. Everyone does it.
“I still do have feelings for him, I can’t switch them off.”
Joanna insisted she has become too busy to see the former firefighter or check up on him.
It comes after eagle-eyed fans fuelled speculation Michael could be getting close to Islander Elma Pazar after spotting a comment he made on her Instagram, despite him recently admitting he can’t “switch off” his feelings for Joanna.
The 27-year-old star wrote: “Jheeez girl stop it”.
Lash technician Elma entered the villa and coupled up with Scotsman Anton Danyluk, 24, but was voted off a few days later.
Michael was paired up with Amber Gill, 21, on the ITV2 series before choosing Joanna when the original girls were sent to Casa Amor.
Amber had decided to stay loyal to Michael, unaware he was getting close to Joanna – who used to date England footballer Ben Chilwell – back in the main villa.
Joanna and Michael were later voted off the island, but a shock twist saw the Islanders given the chance to save one of the pair – and they chose him.
He was later branded a “snake” by the model after he refused to leave the villa with her.

Love Island US renewed for 2nd season

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island US’ has been renewed for a second season.
The new series has become the most-streamed show on CBS in over a year, with millions tuning in to see the goings-on in the villa in Fiji .
Kelly Kahl, the president of CBS Entertainment, said: “The passion of Love Island’s audience is incredible.
“The intensity of their social media engagement has created tremendous enthusiasm for the series here at the Network.”
The show follows the exact same format as the original UK version and features Arielle Vandenberg as the host.
Thom Sherman, senior executive vice-president at CBS Entertainment, said: “We love the show’s creative execution and can’t wait for next season. After its first season, the UK version exploded via word of mouth and social media to become a huge hit, and its viewership has grown every year.
“We believe first season US fans are just as passionate and engaged and we look forward to building on that foundation with another fun season next summer.”
This popularity of the US version comes after ITV bosses recently confirmed the UK version of ‘Love Island’ will air twice a year from 2020.
Early next year, the ITV2 show will move to a brand new villa in South Africa for a winter sun version of the show, while the summer series will return to Europe later in the year.
Paul Mortimer, head of digital channels and acquisitions at ITV, said: “Off the back of a record-breaking year, we’re delighted to be bringing an extra series of our biggest and sunniest show to the 2020 schedule. ‘Love Island’ has proven yet again to be the perfect format that engages younger audiences. In response to this viewer appetite, a new batch of young singletons will deliver some highly anticipated post-Christmas romance and drama from our new and luxurious location.”

Love Island bosses’ final fears

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ bosses were concerned they wouldn’t have four couples for this year’s final after so many villa break ups.
The ITV2 dating show’s narrator Iain Stirling has admitted show bosses usually “want to break couples up”, but that wasn’t required this year after numerous Islanders split up of their own accords following the Casa Amor stage.
He said: “Casa Amor this year worked better than anyone was expecting.
“Normally we want to break couples up but this year no one wanted to stay together.
“We thought we weren’t going to have four couples for the final at one point, just a bunch of bitter people giving daggers to one other. But we got there in the end.”
After the girls returned from second villa Casa Amor, Curtis Pritchard and Amy Hart split, Michael Griffiths ditched Amber Gill – who went on to win the show with Greg O’Shea – and Jordan Hames was dumped by Anna Vakili.
Iain believes Amber was a worthy winner of the programme because she had gone “on a journey” throughout.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, he added: “Amber is what I love on the show. When someone goes on a journey.
“She went in there with this idea of, ‘I’m going to be a cold, strong, powerful, young lady,’ and then Michael came and the plan got taken to pieces.
“Then she had to rebuild herself and what her role was in that villa, and then she met Greg.
“They were really lovely together. It’s mad talking about them being a couple, they’ve known each other for two weeks.
“But there’s definitely that connection there.”

Max Bowden teases ‘terrifying’ EastEnders storyline

OHMYGOSSIP — Max Bowden has teased fans to expect a “terrifying” upcoming ‘EastEnders’ storyline.
The 24-year-old star’s alter-ego Ben Mitchell hatched a plan to set up Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) on last night’s (01.08.19) episode, pretending to the police that the mechanic battered his dad Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) when it was actually Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner).
He told Mirror Online: “Well he’s opportunistic, isn’t he? He’s found the perfect opportunity to get one over on Keanu and try to remove him from the picture, which is a massive conflict of interest because it then leaves Phil not having as much time as he needs or necessarily should.
“But I think he’s so broken by what’s happened in the previous episodes, finding out that Keanu’s in the will and he’s not, that I think his mind goes into a complete overdrive.”
Ben was left in a furious rage after discovering Phil has removed him from his will, in favour of Keanu.
He was heading to the garage with a gun to confront Phil, but upon his arrival he found Stacey had just whacked his dad unconscious with a wrench, so used the opportunity to frame Keanu.
Max said: “It’s definitely calculated. It’s calm and it’s collected and I think he’s been wanting to find an opportunity to remove Keanu from said situation for a while.”
The actor teased that the next few weeks will be terrifying for many characters.
Speaking about Ben, Max added: “He’s fragile, he’s vulnerable. We’ve just had Paul’s (Jonny Labey) anniversary and now we’re into the fact that his dad’s letting him down again and nothing’s going his way. So I think he’s in a state of fragility.”

Amy Walsh went back to waitressing after Emmerdale

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Walsh had to go back to waitressing and handing out plasters after her initial ‘Emmerdale’ stint.
The 32-year-old star first appeared in the ITV soap as Sam Dingle’s (James Hooton) love interest Tracy Shankley in July 2014, but she soon departed the Dales and the actress had to return to promotional work.
She said: “After my first two months in ‘Emmerdale’ I went back to waitressing and I did a lot of promotional work.
“I vividly remember getting tweets when my first ‘Emmerdale’ scenes were screened.
“I’d already left and I was stood at Liverpool Street station handing out Compeed plasters.
“I remember thinking, ‘Oh my God, people are tweeting me about ‘Emmerdale’ and I’m back to this.’
“But I’ve always been a grafter and you just have to get on with it.”
Fortunately for Amy, she returned to ‘Emmerdale’ in 2015 and has remained in the village ever since.
However, she nearly had to pack her bags again when Tracy was involved in last night’s (01.08.19) factory fire.
The character was trapped in the Sharmas’ factory when a blaze broke out.
She was rescued by her dad Frank Clayton (Michael Praed), but he sadly died following a horrific explosion.
While Amy has shot some hard-hitting scenes over the years, she tries to “switch off” from Tracy’s emotions by putting on some “happy music”.
She added to the Metro newspaper: “On the way home from work I’ll put on some happy music or watch something like ‘Love Island’ when I get in – something you can just switch off to and not think about.
“But it is tricky. For the first time I can see why some actors get depressed, because it takes over your body! Your body doesn’t know this isn’t real.
“So after that day with the fire, all of us were like, ‘I need a gin!’ just to steady our nerves.”

Niamh Blackshaw struggles with being angry at Talia Grant

OHMYGOSSIP — Hollyoaks’ Niamh Blackshaw finds it “hard” getting angry with Talia Grant’s character – because they get on so well in real life.
But the 19-year-old star – who plays Juliet Quinn in the Channel 4 soap – admits she and Talia (Brooke Hathaway) do see the funny side when their characters go up against one another.
She said: “It is hard to an extent but it’s also quite funny. We have some scenes after the festival where Brooke actually fights back a little.
“We actually got quite shouty with each other.
“That was quite unusual as Brooke doesn’t usually fight back and that’s the scene we enjoyed the most, when we are actually going in for each other.”
As to why Juliet begins verbally attacking Brooke, Niamh confirms it is as a result of Brooke’s autism.
She said: “Due to Brooke’s autism, she’s limited in how long she can stay in places and what she likes to do there.
“She prefers to stay at the back, and watch from afar, and Juliet wants to be right up in the middle, where it is nosiest and loudest and most crowded.
“There’s a conflict there and Juliet feels like no one is listening to her, everyone’s doing what Brooke wants to do and she’s getting annoyed by it.”
Talia is autistic in real life and has always been open about her condition.
What’s more, Niamh believes her character is only bullying Brooke because of her own insecurities.
She explained: “She does care for Brooke. I think the reason behind the bullying is due to her own insecurities she doesn’t know how to treat someone nicely.
“In her head, being mean is almost like being nice. Treat em’ mean, keep em’ keen.”

Hollyoaks star Ray Quinn branded ‘racist’ after playing far-right extremist

OHMYGOSSIP — Ray Quinn has been branded a racist after playing far-right extremist Jonny Baxter in ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 30-year-old actor admitted he has been abused by people in the street who have confused him with his character and he was once almost refused service in a coffee shop after being confused for a racist.
Speaking to ‘Good Morning Britain’ hosts Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins, Ray explained: “I’ve had a couple of [abusive comments] from people in the street.
“I was in a coffee shop one time and I was asking for a coffee and the lady said, ‘Oh don’t serve him he’s racist’. And I had to sort of elaborate on the story to tell the geezer who was serving me, ‘I’m not, I’m playing one in ‘Hollyoaks’!’ I had to reassure him and he was like, ‘Sorry mate, don’t watch it’.”
Although the role has led to some real-life abuse, Ray admitted he has loved the challenge of playing such a vile character.
He said: “As an actor, it’s more of a challenge for anyone to be in such a storyline like this, but the challenge to be the nasty guy, for me playing Jonny, there’s so much more choice as far as acting is concerned. Tackling the storyline that’s very challenging, very controversial.”
The current ‘Hollyoaks’ storyline sees Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) being groomed by Baxter’s far-right organisation and co-star Rishi Nair, whose character Sami Maalik is targeted by the thugs, admitted he has been the subject of racism in his own life.
He said: “Luckily I grew up in London where I haven’t had a lot of racism, having said that growing up as a brown person in this country I have. Mostly when I was younger growing up in London and on the football pitch mainly. Sunday league football. So when I started this, I could kind of use that… when you start experiencing racism as a kid, it’s that thing where when someone says something to you on the street, you second guess yourself like, ‘did that happen? Maybe I’m overthinking it and it’s not happening’.”
