OHMYGOSSIP — Sean Pertwee has joined the ensemble cast of ‘The Reckoning’.
The 55-year-old actor has boarded Neil Marshall’s forthcoming horror project – co-written by and starring Charlotte Kirk – alongside the likes of Joe Anderson, Steven Waddington, Leon Ockenden, Emma Campbell-Jones, Callum Goulden, Suzanne Magowan, Indianna Ryan, Mark Ryan, Oliver Trevena and newcomer Sarah Lambie.
The movie – which will be helmed and scripted by Marshall, Kirk and ‘The Descents’ franchise writer Edward Evers-Swindell – will be set against the backdrop of the Great Plague and the witch hunts against women that followed.
‘The Reckoning’ will follow Grace Haverstock (Kirk) as she mourns the death of her husband Joseph (Anderson) after he falls victim to the wide-spread disease.
She is falsely accused of being a witch and thrown in jail when she rejects the advances of her landlord Squire Pendleton (Waddington), and she must then endure physical maltreatment at the hands of the country’s most brutal witch-hunter Judge Moorcroft (Pertwee).
Marshall insisted that the film, which is based on true events, is a story which “needs” to be told and feels that the cast offers an “incredible array of talent” to the project.
Speaking to Deadline, he said: “It’s a story, based on real events, that needs telling, but most of all it’s a chance for me to return to my horror roots and, just as I did with ‘Dog Soldiers’ and ‘The Descent’ before it, scare the proverbial s**t out of audiences around the world!
“This film is the product of a unique and highly creative collaboration, and I have assembled an incredible array of talent, both in front of the camera and behind, to bring this powerful story to life. So be warned, ‘The Reckoning’ is coming.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Wolf wants ‘Gladiators’ back on TV.
The 66-year-old bodybuilder – whose real name is Michael Van Wijk – starred on the classic ITV endurance show for seven years until 1999, and he would love to see his villainous character make a comeback in a potential revival.
Appearing on ‘Lorraine’ on Tuesday (06.08.19), he said: “To be perfectly honest with you, hand on heart, I could do every single game blind-folded. I’m so fit now, I’m raring to go.
“I would love to do it, I wish the producers would bring it back. You would get all the baby-boomers from the past watching it and you would get a new generation coming up as well.
“It would be a great show for the family again… Please bring it back, I would love to be in it again as a gladiator.”
And Michael – whose antagonistic character was a thorn in referee John Anderson’s side – insisted he is in better shape than ever thanks to the gym he owns in New Zealand.
He added: “I have my own gym here. I workout all the time, I’m in better shape now than when I was doing ‘Gladiators’ as I have more time to train.”
The show saw four contestants – two male and two female – competing with the show’s titular warriors in a series of physical challenges before competing in one last event looking to earn a spot in the grand final.
Host Christine Lampard backed the guests call for a reboot, and she urged TV bosses to bring back the classic programme.
She said: “The campaign begins today here! Bring back Wolf and bring back ‘Gladiators.’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex Scott is the twelfth contestant set for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The sports pundit and TV star – who played football for Arsenal before her retirement last year – has been signed up for the upcoming series of the BBC’s celebrity ballroom competition, and she admitted she’s “terrified” at the prospect of quick stepping out of her comfort zone.
She said: “I am absolutely buzzing to be signed up to ‘Strictly’. It’s the show I’ve always wanted to do and I can’t believe I’m finally going to be part of it.
“I’m super excited, but also terrified at the same time… The football pitch is a bit less glam than the ballroom, but I’m ready to try the sequins and dresses! Bring it on!”
Alex, 34, captained Arsenal – the team she signed with at the age of eight – and helped the club to a domestic double of the FA Women’s Cup and the FA Women’s Premier League, and remained a key figure when they won the quadruple in the 2006/07 season.
Since her retirement, she has started a successful TV career on BBC and Sky Sports, and last August she became the first female Sky Pundit on a Sky Sports’ Super Sunday and made waves as a fresh addition to the BBC World Cup Commentary line up.
Meanwhile Michelle Vissage, Viscountess Emma Weymouth, Karim Zeroual, Mike Bushell, Catherine Tyldesley, Saffron Barker, David James, Chris Ramsey and Emma Barton will also compete on the programme later this year, with more names still to be announced.
Although the pairings haven’t been confirmed yet, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ star Michelle revealed this week she’s hoping she will be partnered up with Giovanni Pernice on the programme.
She said: “I’m Italian so I would love Giovanni. I love the Italian sense of humour, the accent is amazing and they have a good time.
“They’ve got to have some guns to lift all of this. I also love Aljaž [Škorjanec] and Gorka [Marquez]. One of those three I’d be over the moon.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Lister admits he can “never say never” about an ‘Emmerdale’ return – despite his character being dead.
The 41-year-old star’s alter-ego Carl King met a grisly end when he was battered to death with a brick by love rival Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) during the ITV soap’s 40th anniversary live special in October 2012 – but he isn’t completely ruling out a Dales return.
He said: “It was the most incredible experience, I couldn’t have asked for a better exit.
“I don’t think there will be any return as I was lying there with my brains spilled out across the floor.
“Unless you picked up my brains and put them back in my head, but who knows?
“You never say never …
“It was a wonderful part of my life and I’m very fortunate [to have had] it.”
While Tom loved his time on ‘Emmerdale’, he didn’t watch much of the soap and that hasn’t changed since he departed the Dales.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, he added: “I never really watched it that much when I was on it. Probably because I had kids so it was on about the time when I was really busy.
“But I’ve got lifelong friends there who are still in it and we keep in touch.”
Tom starred as Carl from 2004 to October 2012 when his alter-ego was killed off, and he went on to appear as Martin Laws in ‘Doctors’ in 2016.

OHMYGOSSIP — Coronation Street’s Steve McDonald finds it “mind blowing” that he might have an adult daughter.
Simon Gregson has opened up about his ‘Corrie’ character’s current dilemma as he gets used to the idea he could be Emma Brooker’s (Alexandra Mardell) real father, and the shock news is difficult for him to wrap his head around.
Asked if Steve believes he could really be her dad, Simon said: “Not really, he is trying to work it out and he feels as though she would be more likely to be Jim’s daughter, it is a bit mind blowing to think he has a 20-year-old daughter.
“I don’t think he really knows what to think. I think in all honesty he would be hoping that it isn’t the case.
“What happened with Leanne was bad enough but he has got his head round that situation and co-parents with Leanne, but to suddenly have a grown up daughter is like something from ‘Long Lost Families’, how do you process that information?”
Although Steve would have Emma from a previous relationship with Fiona Middleton (Angela Griffin), he is still nervous about how his partner Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) will react.
Simon added: “As ever with Steve it is about going about things the right way. In reality he should come clean straight away and tell Tracy what has been happening and that he might be Emma’s dad.
“It happened before he even knew Tracy and there is no reason for her to have an issue with it but of course Steve is going to go about it all the wrong way and cause himself many more problems.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kerri Quinn gets called a “lucky dog” for working with ‘Coronation Street’ co-star Tristan Gemmill.
The 34-year-old actress – who plays Robert Preston’s secret lover Vicky Jefferies on the cobbles – describes him as a “gentleman” and admits there are “a lot of gay men” and women back home in Belfast who are jealous of the steamy scenes they’ve shared together.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “He really is a gentleman. It’s so funny because I get stopped in the street, and get so many people going, ‘You’re a lucky dog!’
“It’s not just the ladies, there’s a lot of gay men as well. I say to him, ‘You’ve got a big following in Belfast’. He’s a dreamboat. As is wee Will who plays Tyler, he’s an absolute dote.
“I couldn’t have asked for a nicer bunch if I’m honest. I haven’t had that much with Kym [Marsh (Michelle Connor)] yet, so I’m hoping we get some more stuff together in the coming months.”
Kerri’s future in Weatherfield is uncertain with her alter-ego’s baby due by Christmas, which is around the time Tristan and Kym look set to leave the soap.
Although she doesn’t know how the storyline will unfold, she would love to find a place on ‘Corrie’ beyond Vicky’s relationship with Robert.
She added: “I really do not know what is going to happen. Vicky could forgive Robert, go off with him and live happily ever after but that would be me gone!
“I know they are still toying with so many things. I think at this moment in time, I’ll be going at the end of the storyline, and whatever happens beyond that will be a bonus. I want to stay!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Affleck’s addiction drama ‘The Way Back’ has been pushed back five months.
The release of upcoming movie – which was previously titled both ‘The Has-Been’ and ‘Torrance’ – has been delayed by Warner Bros from October 18, 2019 to March 6, 2020.
As reported by Deadline, the new date will give the movie “more breathing room” than it would have had in a crowded marketplace at the end of the year, while the start of college basketball’s March Madness means bosses can promote the film at an opportune time.
The movie will is based on a script by Brad Ingelsby and will see the Affleck, 45, reunite with director Gavin O’Connor, 53, after they previously worked together on 2016 drama ‘The Accountant’.
‘The Way Back’ tells the story of a former basketball star who finds himself in an addiction battle after losing his wife, and in a bid to rescue his life, he becomes the coach of an ethnically mixed high school team.
Affleck is being lined up to play the coach, while O’Connor is being eyed to direct the project.
The pair’s previous collaboration saw the actor portraying Christian Wolff, who had a high-functioning form of autism, and the filmmaker subsequently revealed how much he relished the experience of working with the Oscar-winning star.
He previously shared: “Here’s what we did. We met a lot of autism specialists and educators. And then we met a lot of guys on the spectrum. And then, just as I started this journey, I was sent a three-hour rough cut of a documentary called ‘Asperger’s Are Us’.
“It’s about four guys on the spectrum who are comedians, who have a comedy troupe. And I laughed so hard and I called Ben and said, ‘Dude, you’ve got to watch this with me.’
“So I went over to his house, and we laughed, and that was liberating. That was my introduction to the humour [that can be found in autism]. I knew I wanted to have that element in the film, and so did Ben, but it needed to be proven, needed to be substantiated. This film did that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lena Waithe is producing Radha Blank’s new comedy ‘The 40-Year-Old Version’.
The 35-year-old screenwriter and producer – who is known for her work on Netflix comedy-drama series ‘Master of None’ and Showtime’s ‘The Chi’ – has joined the upcoming film, which will be directed by Blank from her own script and follows a down-on-her-luck New York playwright.
The movie will follow the protagonist as she reinvents herself as a rapper at the age of 40 and wavers between the worlds of New York’s theatre and hip hop scenes, where the voices of black women remain marginalised.
‘The 40-Year-Old Version’ will be produced by Inuka Bacote, Jennifer Semler and Jordan Fudge while Rishi Rajani and Trevite Willis will executive produce the film.
Speaking of the project, Waithe said: “Radha Blank is a rare talent. She’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met — and I wanted to do everything in my power to help get this movie made.”
Blank added that she’s wanted to create a film this style for her “entire life” and thanked the movie’s producing team to help bring her “love letter” to New York City to the big screen.
She explained: “As a native New Yorker raised on cinema, I’ve been waiting my entire life to see someone who looks like me in the center of a classic New York film.
“And now thanks to the amazing support of Jordan, Lena and the rest of the talented team of producers, I get to make my dream come true, adding ‘The 40-Year-Old Version’ a love letter to my great hometown, to the canon of New York films.”
Production is currently underway in New York City and the movie will be shot almost entirely on 35mm black and white film by cinematographer Eric Branco.

OHMYGOSSIP — James Wan teased his upcoming “hard-R thriller” will go back to his “indie roots”.
The acclaimed director and producer has insisted he’s “super excited” to direct a fresh horror movie for New Line and has teased the forthcoming project will be an “original” idea involving “old school, practical effects and no giant, blue screen sets”.
Writing on his official Facebook page, he said: “There’s been a bit of speculation as to what my next project is… all I’ll say is, I’m super excited to go back to my indie roots with this hard-R thriller.
“An original horror idea (not a reboot/remake or anything based on existing IP) with old school, practical effects and no giant, blue screen sets. That’s all I’ll say for now. (Sic)”
The ‘Conjuring’ filmmaker is known for his work in the horror genre but recently took on a new kind of project with 2018’s DC blockbuster ‘Aquaman’, and Wan previously shared that “for the first time in his career” he wasn’t sure what was next for him.
He explained: “I mean, liking the people I work with goes a long way. That was the reason why I came back when I did ‘Insidious 2’.
“But it’s a weird one for me, because I actually don’t know what I want to do next for the first time in my career. I felt like ‘Aquaman’ ticked a lot of boxes for me.
“I want to do another action movie after ‘Furious 7’, I wanted to do a world creation film, and I wanted to do a superhero movie, and ‘Aquaman’ literally ticked all of those boxes for me.
“And so right now, I’m in that sort of place of like do I kind of go back and do a smaller movie maybe as my next one, something a bit more intimate. Or if I can do a personal movie, but maybe it’s on a bigger scale. I’m not sure at this point.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Emmerdale’ star Bill Ward used to work for an advertising agency before embarking on his acting career.
The 52-year-old star- who played James Barton on the ITV soap from 2013 to 2016 – revealed that before dedicating his life to acting, he worked as an account director for some of London’s top ad companies, and even considered a career as a radio journalist before deciding to enrol in drama school.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, he said: “I used to work for an advertising agency – a couple of advertising agencies – and I was a suit, I was an account director.
“[I thought] What if, what if, what if. It’s that whole thing isn’t it? And I had it constantly going on and I went travelling for a year and I came back, and actually for a while I was going to be a radio journalist.
“I got into sort of various colleges, but right at the moment when I was literally about to go to college, I found myself looking through the back of The Stage magazine which has adverts for drama schools in.
“I knew at that point it was gonna make one kind of big career change when I was 30, then it should be acting because it was the thing I’d always wanted to do.”
Bill – who also portrayed Charlie Stubbs in ‘Coronation Street’ from 2003 to 2007 – went on to explain that it was initially difficult landing roles as he was up against actors with “a ten year or a 12 year CV”.
He said: “I put myself through drama school when I was 32 so I was 33 when I came out.
“So you’re up against people who have a ten year or a 12 year CV so you’re up against extraordinarily experienced people. ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy McGuinness was left mortified when his two-year-old daughter started “swearing like a docker”.
The 45-year-old presenter – who also has five-year-old twins Leo and Penelope with wife Christine – was left feeling worried when his youngest child Felicity repeated a curse word he let slip out while he was stretching in the morning, and continued to say it as he dropped her off at nursery.
Speaking on Instagram, he said: “I have had an absolute western this morning. I had a little stretch and I said ‘oh s**t’ and my daughter who’s not even three yet, said it back. I didn’t even know she was there.
“I didn’t say anything, but she said it again. I ignored it, but then she said it about 20 times.
“I took her into nursery and she was still saying it into nursery.
“I’ve got to pick her up later and I’ve got a feeling social services will be there. I’m in the s**t.”
The ‘Top Gear’ host captioned the post: “That moment when the kids hear you swear for the first time and repeat it! Tried not to react but it’s too late. My two-year-old is now swearing like a docker!!! #friday #fridayvibes #ohshit #parentingproblems (sic)”
Meanwhile, Paddy’s wife Christine previously opened up about finding it hard” to “manage their time” with Felicity and their twins, who both have autism, and revealed that she’s “done” with having children.
‘The Real Housewives of Cheshire’ star explained: “[We] wanted six children – but we are done, not because we don’t want another autistic child, but we are stretched because the children do have autism, it’s hard to manage your time.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ winners Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea are “exclusively dating” but taking their time
The pair left the villa as champions last week despite only meeting late on the ITV2 dating show, and while they aren’t classing their romance as a relationship just yet, things are going well.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’ on Tuesday (06.08.19), Amber said: “We’re exclusively dating, but we’re not official yet.”
Although there was some confusion on the daytime panel show about what the term actually meant, Greg explained they don’t want to rush things after only knowing each other for a matter of weeks.
He added: “You have to remember we only met each other for the first time on July 15… We’re definitely gong in the right direction.
“I can definitely see us getting there, but we haven’t know each other for a full month yet. She needs to meet my friends and family.
“I’ve met her family and friends – lovely people, really welcoming – but she hasn’t met my friends yet.”
Amber and Greg triumphed in this year’s final over long-term favourites Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague, but with the couple holding off on confirming they are in an official relationship, bosses are stalling on a spin-off show.
It’s said producers are reluctant to shoot a programme about the pair while their future could be uncertain.
An insider said: “It’s been a publicity disaster in previous years, when couples split before their show aired or appeared to get back together just as the programmes came out.”
Last year’s winners Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham landed spin-off ‘Jack & Dani: Life After Love Island’ but the pair split in December, shortly before the show broadcast in January, before reconciling, and they eventually confirmed their break-up in April.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions’ is coming to ITV later this month.
Simon Cowell’s hugely popular competition will be getting its own spin-off series featuring previous champions and beloved contestants facing off against UK and global stars for the chance to be crowned the ultimate winner.
On Tuesday (06.08.19) it was revealed the new show will kick off over the next few weeks, although a firm launch date is yet to be confirmed.
Alongside a trailer, the broadcaster teased on Twitter: “The best of British talent aren’t just taking on each other… they’re taking on the world!
“Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions. This August on @ITV”
Last year’s winner Colin Thackery could become the first act ever to triumph twice in a year after signing up for the special series.
The 89-year-old singer is set to face judges Simon, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams once again, and the Chelsea pensioner could make history.
A source recently said: “Colin is everything that Britain’s Got Talent should represent so it seems only fair that he be given a chance to keep his title – and leave an even more historical note.
“He has been achieving a life-long dream with this show so was more than happy to come back to the series once again.”
Colin could be joined by 2012 winner Ashleigh Butler, who triumphed on the programme with her dancing dog Pudsey.
Although the pooch sadly died in 2017, she now performs alongside his replacement Sully.
Meanwhile, it’s hoped Susan Boyle – who was runner-up in 2009 and has become a huge star – will be back for the new series, although scheduling conflicts could stop her from making an appearance.
A spokesperson recently said: “Susan has a busy year ahead with lots of performances coming up, trips to the US, headlining BBC Proms in September, as well as preparing for her upcoming tour.
“She is enjoying celebrating the decade since she first appeared on ‘BGT’ and her life changing for the better.
“She loved being part of ‘AGT Champions’ and, whether she is able to make it or not, wishes the contestants taking part on ‘BGT Champions’ the best of luck.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire King says Kim Tate will clash with Graham Foster thanks to a new business partnership.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actress has teased friction between her character and Andrew Scarborough’s alter ego which leaves the latter feeling like the newcomer is “encroaching on his turf”.
She told Inside Soap magazine: “There is a Kim and Graham story coming up, which does involve family, but also Kim goes into partnership with a new guy who she worked with in Dubai when she went away on a business holiday.
“They’re very, very similar, so whether they will click together or explode, who knows? Also, Graham doesn’t like it too much, as he feels it’s encroaching on his turf!”
The 57-year-old soap star also suggested Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) will regret coming to Kim for a high interest loan to save the factory after it was left on the verge of bankruptcy.
Claire teased: “I think Rishi has made a big mistake, and he will rue the day he got involved with Kim.”
The actress previously revealed she’s glad to have gone back to the Yorkshire Dales, having first spent a decade on the soap following her 1989 debut, and the former ‘Bad Girls’ star – who returned to ‘Emmerdale’ for a one-week cameo last year – believes reprising her role is the “best decision” she has ever made.
She said: “Coming back to ‘Emmerdale’ was very daunting but the best decision I’ve ever made.
“It’s so much fun playing a soap super-bitch as you can get away with saying things you’d get a deserved slap for in real life! I don’t think she could be any bitchier – she just sees her goal and aims for it no matter who’s in the way.
“And I think she’ll probably be the most hated person in the country for a while, until we see a softer side (and yes, she does have one!) I think Donald Trump can relax for a while!”

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Doctor Who’ debut of the Daleks has been named the greatest sci-fi TV moment of all time.
The terrifying extraterrestrial race first appeared on the small screen in 1963 as a foe for William Hartnell’s Time Lord, and they have gone on to become arguably the most iconic monster in the show’s long history.
TV Years magazine has compiled the 50 greatest moments in sci-fi television for their new issue, with editor Graham Kibble-White heaping praise on the Daleks for their long lasting appeal and influence.
He said: “The Daleks – the self-dubbed ‘supreme power of the universe!’ – are victorious again! “Their thrilling arrival on British screens supercharged ‘Doctor Who’, turning the show into a national obsession, and immediately securing their status as, not just sci-fi’s, but TV’s best-ever baddies.”
The publication recalls the scary moment the Doctor and his companions discover an empty city on an irradiated planet, and how “history [was] made”.
The entry reads: “As [companion] Barbara stoops through passages, doors slide closed behind her, manoeuvring her into a lift, which takes her down.
“Emerging, she’s faced with… something. We don’t know what. All we see is a plunger-shaped protuberance waggling menacingly at her.
“She screams, the credits roll and history is made. ‘Doctor Who’ has brought us somewhere where a killer cliff-hanger lights up our Saturday night and where the Daleks are about to make their debut.”
While the Daleks take the top spot, their introduction is followed closely behind by Captain Kirk facing an agonising choice to let lover Joan Collins die to save his own future in ‘star Trek’, while the likes of ‘Blake’s 7’, ‘Survivors’ Thunderbirds’ and ‘The X-Files’ all feature in the top 10.

OHMYGOSSIP — Tommy Fury has branded former ‘Love Island’ co-star Anton Danyluk “childish” for not following Molly-Mae Hague back on Instagram.
The 24-year-old gym owner unfollowed the 19-year-old social media influencer on the photo-sharing site after his management company started following her while he was in the villa, previously claiming the pair had “never even spoke” during their time in the villa.
Speaking on ‘Capital Breakfast’ this week, Tommy told host Roman Kemp: “I think there was just a little bit of tension at the ‘Love Island Reunion’, you know, purely off what Anton said and about all the unfollowing stuff and all that.
“It really is… I think it’s a bit childish because we’re all good friends here and there’s no need for any bad blood and on mine and Molly’s part, there’s no bad blood, we wish him all the best.”
The 20-year-old boxer – who was runner up on the show alongside Molly – insisted he didn’t notice any “tension” between her and Anton during their time on the ITV2 dating show, and he doesn’t quite understand where his former co-stars comments have come from.
He said: “I honestly couldn’t see it; I thought them two were friends because obviously, we’ve been on this whole experience together so I thought everybody would be friends.”
Fellow contestant Maura Higgins added: “I never noticed that myself either, everyone spoke, everyone got on.”
Anton explained his decision to stop following Molly-Mae over the weekend as he insisted they “never really” chatted in the villa.
He said: “A lot of people have been saying it’s because we were voted [out] by Molly and Tommy. Listen, in there we have to make very hard decisions where you have to vote for your friends and it’s not a nice situation at all, so it’s nothing to do with that. Me and Belle were voted out by the public.
“What happened is, when we’re in there, our management or whoever is running our Instagram follows for us. Molly came up on my Instagram and I’m sure Molly will agree with this, we’ve never even spoken in the villa, really.”
