Andy Serkis has ‘very clear ideas’ for Venom 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Andy Serkis has “very clear ideas” for ‘Venom 2’.
The 55-year-old actor – who was at the helm for 2018’s ‘Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle’ – has been confirmed to take the reins from Ruben Fleischer on Sony’s much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 Marvel Comics superhero movie, which sees Tom Hardy play the titular symbiote and its alter ego Eddie Brock
He said: “I’m right at the beginning stages.
“I’ve got some very clear ideas about the journey I’d like to see visually and how we can take the characters into another dimension.”
Andy says Tom is “very involved” in writing and shaping the script.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association panel for FX’s miniseries ‘A Christmas Carol’, he said: “Tom is very involved with the writing with Kelly Marcel of the new story, so it’s very much centred around their take.”
The ‘Black Panther’ star is a huge fan of the ‘Dunkirk’ actor’s work and it’s a dream come true to finally get to work with him and teased that fans can “hopefully” expect “an extraordinary piece of cinema”.
He added: “I’ve known Tom for many years and always admired him hugely as an actor and producer.
“We’ve always wanted to work together directly.
“I’m deeply excited to work with Tom Hardy and to work with all the great actors who are involved in it. It’s a fantastic franchise.
“I”m really honoured to have been asked to direct it and it feels like it’s a very contemporary story.
“I think it’s going to be hopefully an extraordinary piece of cinema.”
The original film made as much as $856 million at the global box office and Sony is determined to start shooting the follow-up before the end of the year, with the company reportedly hoping to begin production work in November.
It was confirmed by producer Amy Pascal that Tom will be reprising his role in the new movie, which is set for release in 2020.
She previously said: “I can say that Tom Hardy will be back, magnificently playing that character as no one else can.”

Joe Gilgun ‘smoked dope’ to unwind during Brassic

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Gilgun “smoked dope” and gave up masturbating during ‘Brassic’ filming.
The 35-year-old actor didn’t go out and socialise with his cast mates while working on the upcoming Sky comedy, and instead the ‘Misfits’ star preferred to have a joint to unwind.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, he gestured to his co-stars and said: “These lot go out a lot. I don’t because I’m not very social.
“I sit at home and f***ing smoke dope and give up on masturbation a lot. I just started doing that at 35, has anyone else started doing that?”
The show follows a group of working class friends looking to survive in suburban Lancashire through scamming, conning and bribing.
Joe’s character Vinnie had a troubled childhood – his mum left and he was raised by his alcohol dad – and faces a constant battle with bipolar disorder.
The star – who also gained popularity through his role as Woody in 2006’s ‘This Is England’ – added that although the cast of the new six-part comedy series are close is is “a lot of work to be done”.
Joe is joined in ‘Brassic’ by the likes of Michelle Keegan (Erin), Damien Molony (Dylan) and Tom Hanson (Cardi), and he heaped praise on the quality and work ethic of the group of performers gathered together.
He gushed: “We’re incredibly lucky to have the cast we’ve got. Honestly, they’re flawless… I keep using this bloody analogy; some actors you can let them off the lead and they’ll wonder about and have a s**t and a p**s, they mix well with other dogs, you don’t have to worry about them bolting off if they see a cat, these are them.
“There are other actors, you let them off the lead and they just f**k off. My lot are mint. We really have picked a f***ing great group here. We do get on, we all really get on.”

Camila Cabello ‘terrified’ by Cinderella role

OHMYGOSSIP — Camila Cabello was a “little bit terrified” about playing Cinderella.
The 22-year-old singer “couldn’t say no” when she was offered the title role in James Corden’s upcoming musical version of the traditional tale because it was a “dream” for her, though she had some misgivings about signing up.
Speaking to Variety, she said: “It was one of those things that felt like God handcrafted it for me and was, like, ‘Here you go.’ I just couldn’t say no. It’s honestly a dream for me. And also a little bit terrifying.”
The ‘Señorita’ hitmaker went on to explain that although she originally found her acting lessons “scary” she was put in ease when her acting coach taught her the value of “listening” while trying to portray a character.
She said: “For my first acting classes, I was, like, ‘What the f**k am I doing here? This is so scary.’
“But my acting coach, Anthony Meindl, taught me it’s all about the act of surrender and ‘the art of listening’ as opposed to being in your head. That’s the only technique he has for acting, as simple as it is.”
The ‘Havana’ singer added that the biggest obstacle she was forced to overcome was “overanalysing and overthinking”.
She said: “Literally just listen and let your body react; let it do the work for you. … Feelings are so layered. I’m angry; I’m disappointed; I’m scared; so there’s no way that you can really act that.
“My big problem is being in my head a lot, overanalysing and overthinking, to the point where it sucks the joy out of things that are joyous.”

Christopher Landon to helm new film for Blumhouse

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Happy Death Day’ director Christopher Landon is set to write and direct a new horror film for Blumhouse Productions.
The 44-year-old filmmaker – who helmed the 2017 horror-comedy hit and its 2019 sequel ‘Happy Death Day 2U’ – is reportedly teaming up with Jason Blum once again to create a new psychological horror/thriller, according to DiscussingFilm.
Although plot details are sparse, it’s thought the new film will focus on a serial killer who wreaks havoc in a suburban small town.
This news comes after Jason, 50, revealed that ‘Happy Death Day 3’ isn’t likely to happen and that although it’s “not impossible” that he’ll make another instalment of the horror franchise he doesn’t think he has a story to make the series a trilogy.
During a Twitter Q&A, a fan asked: “How likely is it we’ll get a Happy Death Day 3?”
To which Jason replied: “Not very but not impossible.”
The original 2017 ‘Happy Death Day’ starred Jessica Roth as college student Tree who is trapped in a time loop and murdered on her birthday over and over again.
The movie was a surprise critical success and earned $125 million at the global box office on a $5 million budget.
Although Jason isn’t keen on extending the franchise, director-and-writer Christopher previously claimed that he always imagined Tree’s story as a trilogy.
He said: I have more than an idea, I always imagined this as a trilogy, so I have the third movie, but it’s just a question of whether this one does well. I would love to make the third one. I think it’s a really bonkers, fun idea.”
Christopher added that there’s a “big clue” at the end of ‘Happy Death Day 2U’ which sets up the third movie.

Danny’s comments come after Mark was cleared at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester yesterday (06.08.19).
Mark’s fiancee, ‘Emmerdale’ star Kerry Wyatt – who plays Laura Norton – was said to be in tears in the public gallery.
Following the verdict, the former ‘Heartbeat’ star said: “I really am grateful to the jury for proving my innocence and especially for proving the innocence of my loved ones, who’ve had to endure this awful ordeal with me this last year.
“I’m looking forward to getting back to our engagement and my career, which has been on hold.”

Steve Halliwell and Jane Cox write letters to stay in touch

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Halliwell and Jane Cox keep in touch with handwritten letters.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actor and his former co-star – who played on-screen couple Zak and Lisa Dingle on the ITV soap – are close friends away from their day job, and the pair have shunned modern technology when it comes to making sure they stay in contact following Jane’s recent exit.
He told Inside Soap magazine: “We do keep in touch, but mostly by letter. Jane loves getting my letters instead of a text or an email.
“She likes getting letters which she can look back on and think, ‘Oh, that’s how it was’. Then she writes back to me in a traditional letter too.”
The 67-year-old actress left the soap when her alter-ego Lisa died of a terminal heart condition, and she is relishing the chance to try her hand at other opportunities after pondering her future following her own mother’s death.
She recently explained: “My mum died a couple of years ago, so it does make you think a lot about the big things in life. As you get older life feels shorter – although of course I am going to live to 150.”
And while Steve, 73, understands why his friend decided to leave the Dales, he was upset when he heard the news.
He previously said: “Well, I was sad – but I know Jane very well, and I knew there were other things that she needed to do, other than do what we’ve done together for 20-odd years.
“So yes I was sad initially, although as she’s my friend in real life, I knew it might be on the way. So it came gently, rather than as a sudden shock.”

Jade Goody wanted euthanasia during cancer battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Jade Goody wanted to end her life at the Dignitas euthanasia clinic.
The late ‘Big Brother’ star died aged 27 in 2009 after a battle with cervical cancer, and her mother Jackiey Budden has revealed she was suffering so much she “kept telling” her mum and husband Jack Tweed that she wanted to travel to Switzerland, where assisted dying is legal.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: “She wanted to go to Switzerland to have the injection.
“She kept telling me and Jack all the time … she was on so many drugs, the nurses couldn’t take mine and Jack’s words, they needed her words to say that she wanted the injection.”
Jackiey explained how her daughter – who became the first millionaire reality star after her stint on the Channel 4 show – had even written about euthanasia in one of her final diaries as she detailed the costs of heading to the Swiss clinic.
While her family were devastated by her death, Jade’s mother admitted she was “so pleased” her daughter wasn’t in pain anymore.
She added: “Jade was disintegrating and we were watching her disintegrate.
“I miss her to the max but I was so pleased she was out of pain. She’d had all the drugs she could have.”
Jackiey opened up ahead of Channel 4’s documentary ‘Jade: The Reality Star Who Changed Britain’ – which starts tonight (07.08.19) at 9pm – and in the series she reveals how her daughter thought her illness was punishment for her ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ race row.
Jade was accused of racism and bullying directed at Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty 12 years ago, and while she later apologised, her mum has now said she was haunted by the controversy until her death.
Speaking in the documentary, she says: “One night she felt really scared because, obviously, she knew she was going very soon.
“She said, ‘Mum I feel like they’re coming to get me. They’re coming to get me. It’s going all dark’. She said, ‘Is that because I was so bad in ‘Big Brother?’ ”

Gemma Collins reignites Jason Gardiner feud

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins thinks it is “great news” that Jason Gardiner may not return to ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The reality TV star has responded to reports the BBC figure skating competition’s judge might not be back for the next series, and after their spat during her run on the show earlier this year it’s clear she wouldn’t be disappointed to see him leave the programme.
When asked what she thought about reports Jason may not be on the panel, she told ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’: “Hallelujah. Let’s be fair he only works twice a year in TV.
“I think he does ‘Dancing on Ice’ and panto. Would we miss him this year? Hell no. People are probably watching this thinking, ‘She’s a bit strong.’
“But you can criticise someone, but you don’t have to get personal. Criticise me all day long but don’t get personal, especially with mental health now and bullying and stuff like that.
“So yeah, hallelujah. This is great news. My show launches tonight, Jason Gardiner is not coming back, it couldn’t be better.”
Her comments come following claims ‘Dancing on Ice’ bosses may replace Jason if they can find someone suitable.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “After the rows with Gemma last year, producers started to make quiet inquiries about potential replacements.”
Gemma – whose new reality show ‘Gemma Collins: Diva Forever’ launches tonight (07.08.19) on ITVBe – clashed with the choreographer a number of times throughout the competition, which aired at the beginning of the year.
Back in March, he apologised for comparing her to a refrigerator, and insisted he didn’t realise his remark had caused such a backlash.
He said: “Ignorance is bliss, I don’t know about this. I don’t engage on the social media platforms like that.
“It’s something that I find gets magnified and distorted and people jump on a bandwagon. You can’t really buy in to it.”
When told his comments had been interpreted as fat-shaming, he added: “Oh god no. If people are taking it that way I’m really sorry. It was a way of diffusing any tension and making light of the situation.”
Gemma had previously hit out at Jason for “bullying” her over his comment and announced she wouldn’t be at the final because she didn’t want him to be “anywhere near” her.
She wrote on Instagram: “I’m really tired of being BULLIED by this man …. I wish you would stop ….. it’s very very upsetting and hurtful let it go Jason stop bullying me ENOUGH is ENOUGH.
“I won’t be bullied any more making me feel uncomfortable to come back to the final on Sunday ! I was looking forward to Sunday but won’t be anywhere near someone who’s BULLYING me.
“This is NOT ACCEPTABLE on any level comparing any human to an electrical appliance is not acceptable #STANDUPTOBULLIES. (sic)”

Corrie’s Dawn Acton won’t rule out acting return

OHMYGOSSIP — Dawn Acton has hinted she could return to acting one day.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star played Tracy Barlow on the cobbles for over a decade from 1988 to 1999, and while she moved on from that phase of her life, she has still stayed active with the occasional stage role in amateur dramatics.
When asked about a potential acting return on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she said: “Never say never. You never know. I have done the odd bit of am-dram over the years, and you never know!”
She was the third actress to take on the role of Tracy after Christabel Finch and Holly Chamarette, while current star Kate Ford took over the part in 2002.
However, Dawn, 42, is very happy doing charity work for a local organisation which “supports other charities”, admitting she has found it very rewarding “for well over 10 years”.
She added: “I feel quite lucky because I get to see … obviously there’s some difficult things happening in the charity world, and the people they support, but I get to see some amazing people doing amazing things.”
Despite being a world away from Weatherfield, the former soap star still feels a connection to ‘Corrie’ after starting on the cobbles when she was just 11 years old.
She explained: “It is part of my life. When you do 10 years of work like that, it’s part of my life, part of my growing up and who I am.”
And finding fame at such a young age was life-altering for Dawn, who admitted she didn’t quite “realise the impact” it would have.
She said: “Nothing quite prepares you for it so you don’t really realise the impact it’s going to have in terms of being recognised, all that kind of stuff. You don’t realise the impact it will have.”

Love Island’s Amber Gill still wants to continue salon work

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ winner Amber Gill wants to continue working in a salon.
The beautician took home half of the £50,000 prize when she triumphed alongside Greg O’Shea, but she is still planning to work in her auntie’s establishment, and also hopes to open more businesses.
Speaking to Closer magazine, Amber said: “I’ll definitely keep working with my auntie. We’ll still have the salon, and I’ll build from that – the goal would be opening a few more salons together.
“That was the idea before ‘Love Island’, so hopefully we’ll see what we can do.”
Experts claim that both Amber and Greg will be looking to earn £1 million each as fashion firms, food and drink companies, and cosmetic suppliers will rush to collaborate with them.
The 21-year-old star could earn more than £8,000 per sponsored Instagram post as she gained 2.7 million followers during the series.
Amber says her career choices have always been her plan, even before heading into the villa.
During ‘Love Island: Reunion’, the star admitted she would treat herself “a little bit”, but still wants to spend her money sensibly.
She said: “I’m going to be sensible with the money. I’ll probably treat myself a little bit, but I’m going to invest and be careful with it.”
However, Amber and Greg appear to have missed out on their own potential spin-off show as the idea has reportedly been scrapped this year.
A source recently said: “It’s been a publicity disaster in previous years, when couples split before their show aired or appeared to get back together just as the programmes came out.”

Isabel Hodgins ‘eating her feelings’ during tough Emmerdale plot

OHMYGOSSIP — Isabel Hodgins likes to chow down on several calorific treats to switch off after an “exhausting” day shooting hard-hitting ‘Emmerdale’ scenes.
The 25-year-old actress has been “eating her feelings” after filming some traumatic episodes as her character Victoria Barton, who was recently raped and then discovered she is pregnant, but Isabel tries not to take her work home with her.
She said: “I’ve just been eating my feelings. I get home, and I’m so exhausted because I’ve been crying as Victoria that I’m straight on to Deliveroo.
“Or it’s a whole block of Dairy Milk, followed by three ice creams.
“It’s as if I really am expecting a baby and eating for two.”
Isabel has played Victoria since 2006, and admits meeting up with pals also helps her to snap out her character’s emotions.
She said: “But you know, I’ve been here long enough to know, ‘That’s my work,’ and all I need to do is meet up with some of my friends to snap out of it straight away. ”
Upon hearing about the hard-hitting storyline, Isabel was “terrified” and worried she might “let everyone down” with her portrayal of the plot, but she has since been rewarded with a Best Actress nomination ahead of the Inside Soap Awards.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: “I was terrified. Part of me was really excited, but a bit of me was like, ‘Oh, crumbs. What if I let everyone down?’
“But I feel like I’ve proven myself, and been rewarded with a very important and poignant story.”

Maura Higgins: Family and friends are all that matters

OHMYGOSSIP — Maura Higgins says family and friends are “all that matters”.
The ‘Love Island’ star revealed she doesn’t care about social media trolls and rumours, and insisted the important thing is how “your loved ones” treat you.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Wednesday (07.08.19), she said: “There’s so many people in the world that are afraid for people to have a bad opinion of them.
“You know what? Once your family and friends – your loved ones – love you and know you and care about your opinion, that’s all that matters.”
The 28-year-old model was on the daytime magazine show giving advice to viewers, and she admitted she once got dumped over the phone as she insisted “they will come running back”.
She added: “This actually happened to me, it was over a phone call, and it was the hardest thing to get over.
“Someone broke up with me over the phone – you know what, they will come running back. If you cut all contact, they will come running back.”
Maura has joined the ‘This Morning’ team for both the regular phone-in advice slot and the segment ‘Maura Than Meets the Eye’, in which she will take on challenges across the country.
She recently admitted she was excited about her new roles and described it as a dream come true.
She said: “I’m getting flutters about joining ‘This Morning’. I can’t believe it. It’s beyond my wildest dreams.
“I’ve grown up watching Phillip [Schofield], Holly [Willoughby], Eamonn [Holmes], Ruth [Langsford] and the team. Mad to think I’m now part of that iconic family. Can’t wait to crack on.”
‘This Morning’ editor Martin Frizell said: “Maura was the stand out star of this year’s villa antics with her straight-talking opinionated views.”

Amber Gill wants to be a role model after Love Island win

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Gill loves the idea of being a “role model”.
The ‘Love Island’ champion – who won the ITV2 dating show with new flame Greg O’Shea – admitted while it’s strange coming out of the villa as a celebrity being spotted by fans, she thinks standing up to Michael Griffiths meant she was able to inspire other women watching at home.
She told ITV’s ‘This Morning’: “It’s all mad, but everybody seems so nice. I keep getting these messages about being an inspiration and a role model to be a strong woman, and I absolutely love that. I’m just enjoying it all.”
Her mother Vanessa appeared alongside her on the daytime show and she was surprised by how quickly her daughter has become a household name.
She added: “It’s very strange, we went shopping the other day and just as soon as we went into the shopping centre everyone’s like, ‘It’s Amber!’ There’s whispers – and I was like, how do they recognise her straight away? The support has been just brilliant.”
The 21-year-old beautician revealed she didn’t expect to win the reality show, and it still hasn’t sunk in after last week’s triumphant moment.
She said: “I’m not sure it ever will, it was such a shock. I was not expecting it at all! It wasn’t even in my sights when I went in so it was just crazy.”
Meanwhile, Amber and Greg – who beat favourites Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury in the final – won despite meeting relatively late on, and while they aren’t classing their romance as a relationship just yet, things are going well.
She recently said: “We’re exclusively dating, but we’re not official yet.”
Greg added: “You have to remember we only met each other for the first time on July 15… We’re definitely gong in the right direction.
“I can definitely see us getting there, but we haven’t know each other for a full month yet. She needs to meet my friends and family.
“I’ve met her family and friends – lovely people, really welcoming – but she hasn’t met my friends yet.”

Ross Kemp thinks raising awareness can find a solution to knife crime

OHMYGOSSIP — Ross Kemp wants to raise “awareness” of knife crime to find a solution.
The 55-year-old broadcaster has opened up about his new ITV documentary ‘Living With Knife Crime’ – the third episode in his current series – and he hopes shining a light on such serious issues can help push people in power to make a difference.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, Ross was asked what his latest film can achieve, and explained: “Understanding and awareness. The more we understand problems, the more likely we are to come up with solutions.”
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor admitted delving into such a “complex problem” in a relatively short programme has its challenges, but he thinks his team have come together to give a fair representation.
He said: “It’s trying to unravel a very complex problem in 23, 24 minutes. But I think we have a fair go at that – I won’t say a fair stab – but we do have a fair go at it. They’re treating it as a war, these young people… That shouldn’t be happening in 2019 in my country.”
Ross pointed out that children as young as 10 are ending up in horrific situations, and he insisted social media has to take some of the blame.
He added: “How do you understand the consequences of your actions? I don’t understand the consequences of my actions and I’m 55 years old.
“It escalates so quickly because of social media. You and I fall out at school in the classroom. When we were kids, it was dealt with within the school or the class.
“Now, the entire area and community will know that you and I have fallen out, and that escalates very quickly because you’ll be egged on, I’ll be egged on. What would’ve been a fight outside school is now three people on three carrying machetes.”
Meanwhile, Ross has recently revealed he gets martial arts training from comedian Russell Brand to protect himself from the gangs he reports on.
He said: “I do martial arts with Russell Brand a few times a week now. We do that and a spot of touch rugby… That one needs to be tackle-free at our age though.”

Guillermo del Toro is ‘very clear’ with what he wants with studios

OHMYGOSSIP — Guillermo del Toro is “very clear” with studios about what he wants while making a film.
The acclaimed director is currently working on an adaptation of William Lindsay Gresham’s classic noir novel ‘Nightmare Alley’ for Fox Searchlight and will then move on to his re-imagining of Carlo Collodi’s 1883 children’s novel ‘The Adventures of Pinocchio’ for Netflix.
The ‘Shape of Water’ director confessed that he executes his craft in” exactly in the same way” for both studios and works in his own specific style as by this point in his career, his reputation as a filmmaker speaks for itself.
In an interview with Variety, he said: “I execute my craft exactly in the same way through both [Netflix and Fox Searchlight] And the thing I have with both is a very clear relationship: they know what I do.
“At this point, I’ve been directing and producing for more than a quarter of a century, so you become like a certain type of tree.
“If you come to an orange tree, you’re not going to get an apple. I’m very clear with what I want.”
Guillermo also recently produced the big-screen adaptation of Alvin Schwartz’s collection of short horror stories ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ and the film’s director André Øvredal praised the filmmaker for being a “master at focusing” when it came to cutting down the film.
He said:”Obviously he worked on this script to direct it himself, so he comes into it with a vision of his own.
“But the wonderful part was that the moment they hired me to direct, the first thing he told me was, ‘Now this is your film. Do not make a Guillermo del Toro movie, make your movie.’
“He was a master at focusing a movie in the editing, I did my director’s cut and I showed it to him, and he said, ‘That’s great, now let’s sit down and I’ll show you how to cut 20 minutes off.’
“And he did! He sat down with the editor and myself for two days and I just let him snip off stuff. He took out a couple scenes that I was actually in love with, but when I saw it at the end, every choice was correct.”
