Vinnie Jones lands ‘huge deal’ to star in Only Fools and Horses The Musical

OHMYGOSSIP — Vinnie Jones has been offered the chance to appear in ‘Only Fools and Horses The Musical’.
The former footballer-turned-actor is said to be in discussions with the bosses of the stage show – which was created by comedian Paul Whitehouse and late ‘Only Fools and Horses’ creator John Sullivan’s son Jim Sullivan – about taking on the role of gangster Danny Driscoll.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “This is proving to be a huge year for Vinnie.
“He has received rave reviews across the board for ‘The Gentlemen’ and his stock has never been higher.
“A few months ago he was approached by producers for the return of ‘Only Fools and Horses’, playing gangster Danny Driscoll.”
Vinnie is said to have helped to land a cameo for his former Wimbledon teammate Dennis Wise as part of the deal, with negotiations ongoing.
The source added: “Obviously it’s a role made for him – except nobody has really heard his singing voice before so this will surprise people. They are thrashing out terms now.”
‘Only Fools and Horses The Musical’ features memorable moments from the iconic TV sitcom, in which market trader brothers Derek ‘Del Boy’ and Rodney Trotter tried to make ends meet to get through life.
In the stage show, Del borrows some money from villain Danny to pay for Rodney’s wedding, but when he fails to pay it back on time Danny beats him up.
Vinnie’s latest role has seen him star as groundskeeper Geoffrey Seacombe in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix hit ‘The Gentlemen’.
Following his football career – in which he played for Wimbledon, Leeds and Chelsea, among others – Vinnie started his movie career in Guy’s 1998 film ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’.
He scooped an Empire Award for Best Newcomer for the film, and he went on to star in the director’s 2000 follow up ‘Snatch’.
Vinnie has also appeared in the likes of ‘Mean Machine’, ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’, and ‘Rise of the Footsoldier Origins’.

Shaughna Phillips will do ‘everything’ to lose weight after being ‘shaken to the core’ by GP visit

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Shaughna Phillips is determined to do everything “in her power” to lose weight after being “shaken to the core” following a visit to the doctor.
The 29-year-old reality TV star was left shocked during a GP appointment when she was told she has “quite a lot of visceral fat” around her organs, which could cause heart attacks, and she has now vowed to shed some pounds for the sake of her daughter Lucia, who turned one on Thursday (04.04.24).
Speaking on Instagram, she said: “It’s been a year since I had a baby, so I wanted to see where I stood post-birth.
“They told me that I was obese, which isn’t a shock, but it’s never nice to hear. Following some of the check-ups, they said I had quite a lot of visceral fat around my organs.
“Now, I’m no Gillian McKeith, I’m not going to tell you what that means because I don’t really know.
“It’s basically fat around your main organs, which is serious because it can cause heart attacks.
“I’m a mum now and it shook me to my core, because I know I’m not the picture of health, but I didn’t realise things were that bad and it’s kind of scary to hear it from a medical professional.”
Shaughna is desperate to lose weight because she doesn’t want Lucia – who she has with her ex boyfriend Billy Webb, who was sentenced to nine years in jail last November after admitting conspiracy to supply 4.5kg of cocaine worth at least £360,000 – to be left with one parent.
She added: “I’m going to do this. I need to do something. I need to lose so much weight. I only had one parent because my dad died.
“Without getting way too deep, I just never want that to happen to Lucia and I want to do everything in my power to be here for as long as possible.”
Shaughna recently admitted she has battled body dysmorphia, including when she was in the ‘Love Island’ villa in 2020.
She said: “I was a size six to eight, yet I thought I was the ‘fat girl’ in the villa.
It shows the level of body dysmorphia I had. I was consumed with the way I looked, breathing in and getting the right angles.”

‘It absolutely petrifies me!’ Christine McGuinness in tears as she discusses ‘biggest fear’

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine McGuinness broke down in tears as she told how the thought of dying “absolutely petrifies” her.
The 36-year-old model becomes emotional on BBC show ‘Pilgrimage’ – in which she starred alongside former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Spencer Matthews, actor Tom Rosenthal, and wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan, among others, as they embarked on a personal journey on the BBC programme along a route that celebrates Celtic early Christian saints – when discussing death, because her “biggest fear” is leaving her children one day.
Christine – who has children Leo and Penelope, 10, and Felicity, seven, who all have autism, as she does, with her ex-husband Paddy McGuinness – says in a clip of the show: “I just don’t know what I’d do without my kids.
“I don’t know what I’d do without my babies.
“I just wanted to come back and look at the church again and really appreciate it, because I don’t enjoy the feeling of death.
“As a mum it absolutely petrifies me. My biggest fear is leaving my children one day.
“My children are considered different because they’re all autistic and so am I, and I have often had comments like, ‘I bet you wish there was a cure or something to fix your children,’ and I really don’t.
“I think every single child is a miracle. But it just makes me want to be around forever because they’re so magical.
Christine admitted she “wouldn’t be here” if she didn’t have her children.
She adds: “It is my purpose in life and I know I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have my children.
“I just don’t know what I’d do without my kids, and I also don’t know what they’d do without me, It scares me. It really does.”

‘I’m off to buy a hat!’ Coleen Nolan delighted as daughter Ciara is engaged

OHMYGOSSIP — Coleen Nolan’s daughter has got engaged.
The ‘Loose Women’ star has been left “delighted” following the news her 23-year-old daughter Ciara Fensome – who she has with her second husband Ray Fensome – is to marry her fiance Maxx Innes, after he popped the question during a trip to Vietnam.
Coleen shared a picture of the happy couple, and she wrote: “Well what can I say… I’m so so delighted that @maxxinnes has asked my beautiful girl @ciarafensome to marry him. I love them both sooooo much. Miss them even more! Can’t wait to see them. Off to buy a hat x (sic)”
Several of Coleen’s ‘Loose Women’ co-stars sent congratulatory messages to her and Ciara.
Kelle Bryan posted: “Such lovely news”
Denise Welch wrote: “Congratulations @ciarafensome”
Charlene White commented: “Congrats!!”
Ciara took to her Instagram Stories to confirm she and Maxx had got engaged by sharing a picture of her engagement ring and writing: “This happened last night”.
She revealed Maxx popped the question on a boat surrounded by lanterns in Vietnam.
Ciara wrote: “It was like a fairy tale and I can’t wait to spend forever with you @maxxinnes. I love you xxx (sic)”
But it wasn’t always the most romantic of settings thanks to their boat driver.
She added: “The man rowing the boat was gagging and spitting the entire time, which really added some flare (sic)”
In February, Coleen – who is in a relationship with Michael Jones, 57, after meeting him on Tinder – admitted she would “maybe” consider getting married again, but only if there was a prenup involved.
Speaking on the ‘How to be 60’ podcast, she told fellow ‘Loose Women’ star Kaye Adams: “I think Michael would very much like to get married at some point. ‘If it meant a lot to him, maybe I would, but I’d bloody make him sign a great big piece of paper before I did, because I’m not going through that again.
“I’ve looked into it. 100 per cent. It’s sorted from there and it’s a reference point; no-one thinks they’re going to split up. I got married twice thinking both of them were for life. I never went into marriage thinking – what if it doesn’t work? And neither of them did in the end.
“It’s traumatic enough on an emotional level, but then when there are solicitors involved and you’re dividing up everything, what it comes down to is who owns what. How much have you got? Give him 50 per cent. Off you trot. ”

‘The whole movie is open to interpretation’: Kirsten Dunst thinks Civil War will get film fans talking

OHMYGOSSIP — Kirsten Dunst thinks that ‘Civil War’ is a movie that will get audiences talking.
The 41-year-old actress stars as photojournalist Lee in Alex Garland’s dystopian film that takes place in the USA during a second Civil War and she expects the picture to cause a stir as it is completely “open to interpretation”.
Kirsten told Variety magazine: “This movie, after you see it, you want to talk about it for a while with people. And I think any movie that does that is incredible.
“The whole movie is open to interpretation. For me, there were things I just accepted that were unexplained. It allows the audience to fill in their own feelings about what they’re watching.”
In the film, Nick Offerman’s US president is a narcissistic tyrant but Kirsten has rejected parallels between the character and former White House occupant Donald Trump.
The ‘Marie Antoinette’ star said: “It feels fictitious to me. I don’t want to compare because that’s the antithesis of the film. It’s just a fascist president.
“But I didn’t think about Nick’s character being any certain political figure. I just thought this is this president, in this world, who will not abide by the Constitution and democracy.”
Dunst began her career as a child actress – shooting her first movie at the age of six – and explained that she is now “very picky” about which films she chooses to star in.
She said: “I’m very picky. But that also means I have long breaks where I don’t work.
“Like, I can’t do a project for the money. It’s just very hard for me to be like, ‘Yes!’ If it’s not in my heart, I can’t do it because I’ve been doing this for so long.”

The Matrix 5 is in the pipeline

OHMYGOSSIP — A fifth ‘Matrix’ movie is in the works.
Warner Bros. have announced that Drew Goddard will write and direct the new film, marking the first time in the franchise without either Lana or Lilly Wachowski behind the camera – although the former is involved as an executive producer.
Plot details are yet to be revealed but Warner Bros. Motion Pictures boss Jesse Ehrman has said that the story will progress the fantasy world without straying from what has made the cyberpunk franchise successful.
It is also not yet clear if cast members including Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss – who have played the roles of Neo and Trinity respectively in the previous four pictures – will be back for the new flick.
In a statement, Ehrman said: “Drew came to Warner Bros. with a new idea that we all believe would be an incredible way to continue the ‘Matrix’ world, by both honouring what Lana and Lilly began over 25 years ago and offering a unique perspective based on his own love of the series and characters.
“The entire team at Warner Bros. Discovery is thrilled for Drew to be making this new ‘Matrix’ film, adding his vision to the cinematic canon the Wachowskis’ spent a quarter of a century building here at the studio.”
Goddard has previous in the sci-fi genre as he earned an Oscar nomination for writing the screenplay for Ridley Scott’s movie ‘The Martian’. He has also written and directed the films ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ and ‘Bad Times at the El Royale’.
The 49-year-old filmmaker said: “It is not hyperbole to say ‘The Matrix’ films changed both cinema and my life.
“Lana and Lilly’s exquisite artistry inspires me on a daily basis, and I am beyond grateful for the chance to tell stories in their own world.”

Dame Maureen Lipman reveals why she won’t retire

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Maureen Lipman would become a “miserable old bugger” if she retired.
The 77-year-old actress – who was married to Jack Rosenthal from 1973 until his death in 2004 and has children Adam and Amy with him – has had a decades-long career on screen but joined the cast of ‘Coronation Street’ in 2018 as Evelyn Plummer and explained that she took on the big job because she likes having a routine.
She told Healthy Living magazine: “I’ve seen so many friends and loved ones struck down, and when you’re in this decade I believe you just have to think: let’s go for it,. I’m not living the life of someone who’s been grief-stricken twice. I’m not living that life. I’m up and about, and when I’m not I’ll probably be a miserable old bugger. I like having a set place to go otherwise I’d just sit at home listening to Radio 4.”
The ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’ star enjoys the “steady” nature of being in a soap opera and recently did a show with some of her industry peers, whom she also hinted are showing no signs of slowing down at this stage in their life.
She said: “I like the steadiness of it and the fact I have to keep learning. It’s good for my brain: I’m not a crossword or sudoku person. We’re living longer and we do have a good, long career span… “We’re made of pretty strong stuff. I did a show with Gyles Brandreth and DameJudi Dench at the Palladium and it was a stage full of dames. Eileen Atkins at 88, Sheila Hancock at 90, straight from the hospital where she’d been having pneumonia, Patricia Routledge there at 94.
“We don’t bow out gracefully – we go on until somebody closes the stage door on us.”

‘Never say never…’ Brian Conley won’t rule out a return to EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian Conley won’t rule out a return to ‘EastEnders’ in the future.
The 62-year-old comic played Tom ‘Rocky’ Cotton for two-and-a-half years before dramatically quitting the BBC One soap in 2023 over an alleged row over a ban on pantomime jobs for cast members.
Rocky departed Albert Square in dramatic after being shopped to the police by his own wife Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) for burning down the café in an insurance scam.
Despite the nature of his departure, Brian is potentially open to a return to Walford in the future.
Appearing on the ‘Fuelling Around’ podcast, he said: “Rocky, bless him, it was an insurance scam, he did set fire to the café, this icon café in Albert Square. Rocky done it for arson and, of course, eventually he was shopped and it was a big farewell at Christmas, which I really enjoyed.
“He’s in prison, I think he’s gone down for 10 years, so that’s a long time, but it could get out with good behaviour and all that. But it is open, so who knows? Never say never.”
Brian was delighted to have got to act in such a huge set piece scene in ‘EastEnders’, because the café was actually blown up.
Discussing the arson scenes, he added: “It was amazing, it took us a week to film it, because we didn’t just set fire to it, the gas went and the whole place blew up. Someone run in because they sort someone was in there and then my character was like, ‘Oh my god, there’s someone in there,’ cause I hadn’t told anyone so I ran in. There were fire engines, it was amazing.”
Brian made his name as a variety entertainer and comedian, achieving great success in the early 1990s with his ITV series ‘The Brian Conley Show’, before turning to acting.
The stand-up has nothing but respect for the ‘EastEnders’ cast who work so hard to ensure the four episodes broadcast each week are of the highest standard.
He said: “It really is a speeding train, it’s like a rollercoaster ride when you get on that. You’re always fighting against the clock, we’re doing four episodes a week, every week, that is a lot of content, so you’ve got to be on your game.
“It amazes me how some of the actors there look at it and go ‘yeah’. You should be on point on first take. You will get three gos at it, possibly.
“I did say it to Natalie Cassidy once, and that was right early days, I went, ‘How do you do this?’ She said, ‘Oh, it gets easier Brian.’ You know that short-term memory is like a muscle and the more you do it… I would say it took me two years to get to that point and some people are obviously a lot quicker.
“It amazes me the work that people do on that and the standard of acting and the level that it’s at in sometimes – and I am very aware – in a short amount of time is unbelievable.”

Vanessa Feltz reveals top tip for staying young after having Botox for almost 25 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Feltz tries to have an “open mind” to stay young.
The 62-year-old TV star has had a long career in broadcasting and now hosts her own show on TalkTV but insisted that rather than cosmetic procedures, the secret to staying young is embracing change and “learning” from others.
She told Platinum magazine: “If you want to keep young in life, I think one of the best ways of doing that is to keep an open mind and to not feel like you know the answer to everything. Instead allow yourself to possibly be open to change, and listen totally to what other people are saying. Appreciate their experiences, and then maybe you can learn from them. I really do think that keeps you much younger if you’re still open to having a different view on things.”
Despite this the former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant is a big fan of getting made up and has had Botox every year since she split from her husband Michael Kruer almost 25 years ago.
She said: ” I absolutely love make-up, but I’m not into anti-wrinkle creams. Lots of nice people send me their skincare ranges and want me to represent this and that, but I can’t do it in good conscience because I don’t use a single thing and never have!’.
“I’ve had Botox ever since my husband left me 24 years ago when I decided I wasn’t going to have him leaving lines on my face. And I’ve had it twice a year ever since. Sometimes I let it run out because I don’t get round to it, so I don’t live by it, but I do think it works. It stops you from getting a cross expression or appearing like you’re frowning all the time, and I don’t want to look like I am

Claudia Winkleman tipped to revive Blind Date

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Winkleman has been tipped to host a new incarnation of ‘Blind Date’.
The show was a huge hit for late presenter Cilla Black who hosted it between 1985 and 2003 and it was later brought back with Paul O’Grady at the helm between 2017 and 2019, but now TV mogul Dan Baldwin has hinted his production company Hungry Bear Media could bring the show back once again after successfully reviving 1990s hit ‘Gladiators’.
During an appearance on BBC Radio 4 yesterday, Dan said: “You always look at old shows that are no longer on television. You are always coming up with new ways of bringing back a show.
“There is nothing wrong with that because those shows were great for a reason. As well as coming up with new ideas, we’ve always got one eye on what could come back and what could be a hit like ‘Gladiators’ is.
“Another one that you’d like to see back, ‘Blind Date’, are we ready for that? What a Saturday night that was. I’m thinking ‘Blind Date’ with Claudia Winkleman on BBC1, how about it?”
Dan went on to insist his revived version of ‘Gladiators’ will continue because it’s found a huge audience with kids and their parents – who previously watched the original show – plus he’s also planning a celebrity series pitching famous faces against the leotard-clad heroes.
He added: “I can reveal we are going to do a celebrity special … I think we also hit a sweet spot because a lot of the parents there were kids back in the day when ‘Gladiators’ was on and now they have children that are the perfect age to watch it. So it’s almost the perfect ven diagram …
“I think ‘Gladiators’ is here to stay, I’m going to say, it’s here to stay.”

Celebrity version of Gladiators in the works

OHMYGOSSIP — A celebrity version of ‘Gladiators’ is in the works.
The BBC’s reboot of the iconic sports entertainment gameshow – which originally aired on ITV in the 1990s – has proven to be a huge success with viewers and as well as a second series recently being confirmed, programme bosses have now revealed they will be making special episodes in which famous contestants will test themselves against the powers of the gladiators.
Dan Baldwin, head of Hungry Bear Media who make the show, told BBC Radio 4: “I can reveal we are going to do a celebrity special…
“I think Gladiators is here to stay, I’m going to say, it’s here to stay.”
The producer admitted they were thrilled with how popular the reboot has proven to be.
He said: “We wanted it to be event television so we had to get an audience of 3,000 people every episode.
“The first episode we had almost 10,000 turn up. So at that point, we knew that we had something.
“The first episode got 6.4m. Now it’s at 9.8m, the first episode, because of catchup. And we didn’t think this show would be something that people would catch up on.
“But so many people catch up on it and it’s gone from strength to strength and we’re really happy with how it’s gone.”
The programme – which is hosted by Bradley and Barney Walsh – was filmed at Sheffield Arena in front of a live audience, and Dan thinks one of the key factors in its success is having hit the “sweet spot” of young viewers of the original show now being old enough to have families of their own.
He said: “I think audience is vital and they reflect what is happening. We wanted to have families in that audience with their sponge fingers and signs and they really got into the event of it.
“It was interesting because we almost made two shows. We made a TV show and a live event because people who turn up, they have to be excited, you don’t want them leaving.
“And they were all very excited. Sometimes the mums and dads were more excited than the kids.
“But I think we also hit a sweet spot because a lot of the parents there were kids back in the day when Gladiators was on and now they have children that are the perfect age to watch it. So it’s almost the perfect ven diagram.
“There is nail biting drama in this show and the underdog coming through.
“And I think as with all sporting events, some of the action and drama is thrilling and you can’t write it. I think that you’re always going to get that on ‘Gladiators’.
“Seeing these physical specimens going head to head and the underdog coming out, the doctor or the nurse or the teacher winning, there is always room for that and that’s just part of our culture to enjoy moments like that.”

Dev Patel suffered broken bones on Monkey Man set

OHMYGOSSIP — Dev Patel’s ‘Monkey Man’ shot was plagued by injuries.
The ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ made his directorial debut stepping behind the camera for the action thriller which he also starred in – and he’s revealed he broke his hand during the first big action sequence and needed to undergo surgery while he also went on to break several toes and injure his shoulder and he was also struck down with an eye infection.
Speaking to Variety, Dev revealed: “I broke my hand in the first big action scene, broke some toes, tore a shoulder, eye infections, bruises … ”
When asked how he came down with the eye infection, Dev explained: “I was crawling on a bathroom floor and it’s flooding. We were shooting this scene for three days. All the crew were coming in with their dirty shoes and I’m drinking this water literally. It was grimy stuff.”
Actor Sikandar Kher – who filmed several fight scenes with Dev – praised the actor/director for battling through the injuries but he was worried about hurting him when they were filming together.
He added: “I was like: ‘Man, this is too much because you don’t want to hurt the guy anymore. It’s enough’ But he mustered through it.”
Dev went on to talk about the possibility of a ‘Monkey Man’ sequel if the film does well, insisting he doesn’t want to think about it just yet.
He added to the outlet: “I’m trying not to get ahead of myself. I know this sounds like a cliche, but just to … birth this little thing, it’s been a huge undertaking. This is all a dream come true.”
Dev previously credited moviemaker Jordan Peele with helping him secure a cinema release for the film after it was expected to go straight to streaming on Netflix.
He told Deadline.com: “He [Peele] took us from this thing that was brushed under the carpet to putting us on top of the mantel piece.
“He saw the film; Jordan saw me as a filmmaker, someone broken out, like what he did with his amazing comedy show and became this filmmaker.
“He understood the strength of using genre to talk about more interesting motif things, societal issues, using it as a trojan horse …
“I haven’t seen someone such as myself expressed in this manner [on screen]. Normally we’re given the roles of comedic relief: The guy who opens that laptop and hacks the mainframe type of thing.”
‘Monkey Man’ hits cinemas on April 5.

“I’m a proper journalist, I sent him a picture of all of us [at the show].”
The clip then jumped and rejoined Drew as she looked at her phone and teased: “Well, this just in. I have breaking news. So I’ll just say this from my source that it is in process … so there is a process and that process is in process.”
Christopher revealed last month he’d seen a screenplay for the potential sequel.
Speaking on the US sports podcast ‘The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima’, Christopher said: “I saw Adam about two weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this.’
“I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘How about that’, and he shows me the first draft of ‘Happy Gilmore 2’.
“I don’t wanna be a liar, but he did show me that, and I thought, ‘Well, that would be awesome.’ So, it’s in the works. Fans demand it, dammit!”
‘Happy Gilmore’ tells the story of Sandler’s titular unsuccessful ice hockey player who discovers that he has a talent for golf and competes in a tournament to raise money and save his grandmother’s house.
