OHMYGOSSIP — Carrie Fisher will play an integral role in ‘Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker’, according to J.J. Abrams.
The 53-year-old filmmaker has teased details of the much-anticipated new movie, revealing the late actress – who passed away in 2016 – is central to the film’s storyline.
He shared: “We couldn’t figure out how to tell the end of the Skywalker Saga without [Princess Leia, Carrie’s character] and, you know, saying that she had passed away, saying that she was somewhere else … there was no way.
“We realised we could never recast it and we didn’t want to do a CG character, so we actually realised there was footage we could use, that we could literally write scenes around and suddenly have as an active part of this movie and she’s great in the film.
“And still, maybe now more than ever, it’s impossible to me that she’s gone because she’s so alive in the film.”
J.J. also claimed Carrie would be “proud” to be associated with the upcoming movie, which will also feature Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill and John Boyega.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “We don’t know how to do it without her and so having be part of the movie in a way that I think she’d be proud of is very meaningful.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Nathan Fillion has reportedly joined the cast of ‘The Suicide Squad’.
The 48-year-old actor, who has a long-history with the movie’s director, James Gunn, having previously starred in his films ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, ‘Slither’ and ‘Super’, is the latest name attached to the follow-up to the 2016 DC ensemble movie ‘Suicide Squad’ – which is thought to be a reboot of sorts rather than a direct sequel – in an as-yet undisclosed role.
German star Flula Borg was recently confirmed and will reportedly play a love interest to one of the characters in the Warner Bros. release.
The rest of the cast is comprised of villains Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) and government official Viola Davis (Captain Waller).
Storm Reid will play the on-screen daughter of Idris Elba’s new character, which is replacing Will Smith as hitman Deadshot.
This is so the 50-year-old star can return to the DC Extended Universe in the future.
It is currently not known what DC Comics villain role Idris will take on instead, but reports claim that the decision was made as bosses didn’t want to disrespect Will by replacing him, as he’d helped to bring Deadshot to life on screen for the first time.
WWE wrestler John Cena has also joined the cast alongside Daniela Melchior, who will play Ratcatcher while David Dastmalchian will portray Polka-Dot man, a villain who is able to use his ability to turn the polka-dots covering his costume into a variety of devices, launches a crime wave based on spots and dots in Gotham City.
The film’s release date is currently set for August 2021.

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Holland says Spider-Man will be “equally as awesome and amazing” despite leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
It was announced last week that the web-slinging superhero would be leaving Marvel after talks broke down with Sony but Tom, 23, has insisted he will continue to play Peter Parker and his alter-ego and says the new movies will be better than ever.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “Basically, we’ve made five great movies. It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”
It was revealed last week that Sony Pictures – who licenced the famous character to Marvel – has hit a stalemate with the studio over the financing and profit-sharing of the future ‘Spider-Man’ movies, leading to the exit of Marvel boss Kevin Feige from the franchise.
But Kevin insisted he is grateful that he got to be involved with Spider-Man over five movies and called the experience “a dream”.
He said: “I’m feeling about Spider-Man gratitude and joy. We got to make five films within the MCU with Spider-Man: two standalone films and three with the Avengers. It was a dream that I never thought would happen. It was never meant to last forever. We knew there was a finite amount of time that we’d be able to do this, and we told the story we wanted to tell, and I’ll always be thankful for that.”
There has been several months of negotiations between the Disney-owned Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures to change the original deal, which saw Marvel collect five per cent of the profits of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’. Going forward, Marvel seemed sure they could find a deal as the character was billed to be “the Next Tony Stark” in the Marvel franchise.
The stalemate between Sony Pictures and Disney reportedly came when the latter asked for financing and profits to be split 50 / 50, which would mean Disney and Marvel would have a huge increase in profits, with the previous film grossing a whopping $1.1 billion worldwide.

OHMYGOSSIP — Binky Felstead has found love again, a year after splitting from Joshua ‘JP’ Patterson.
The former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star – who has two-year-old daughter India with JP – has been dating businessman Max Fredrik Darnton since January, and the couple are already set to take the next step in their relationship as they are looking to buy a house together.
On the day they met at Soho Farmhouse, Binky told HELLO! magazine: “I was at the bar ordering cocktails, and Max came up to me and said, ‘So, how are you, what do you do?’ And the first thing I said was, ‘I’m a mum!’
“I was so nervous about him not knowing that I had a child, so I wanted to get it out there before he asked me any more questions, just to see if he was going to run off or not.
“But his reply was, ‘OK … And?’ That was so nice and put me really at ease right away.”
The 29-year-old beauty split from JP last September, 15 months after their little girl was born, and admitted she wasn’t expecting to find a new partner “so soon” after the breakup, but she feels “incredibly lucky” to have found Max.
She said: “I just didn’t know it would be so soon, and I didn’t know that this would be how I feel.
“I’m incredibly lucky to have met him.”
On their plans to live together, she said: “Things are going so nicely, so we’ll be looking – together! – for a big house in London with a garden – for India, and so that Max can get a dog.”
Max has described the relationship as “completely natural and chilled” and admitted he feels “settled”.
He added: “We’re both very different but equally as driven and ambitious.
“We find each other funny – not many other people do! – and it’s completely natural and chilled.
“I feel very lucky to have met her. We really connect. I feel settled, and it feels normal.
“And India is amazing – I look at them both together and it’s really sweet. They have an incredible relationship.”
Binky and JP were in an on/off relationship when they first started seeing each other during episode 10 of the E4 reality series in August 2015.
After a brief break, the pair got back together in March 2017, just weeks before Binky found out she was expecting India.

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Wright discovered his ancestors are from Spain, while filming ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’
The Essex native loves to visit Marbella on holiday and was thrilled to find out that his nine-time great-grandfather was a swordsman from the Andalusia region of the country.
He told The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: “I always thought I might have been a bit Italian, so I’d tell the girls that in the playground at school. To find out I’m Spanish is amazing. We’ve been going on holiday to that area for years and my brother lives out there. It’s ridiculous.”
While Mark was thrilled to discover his family hail from Spain, he was devastated to find out more about some of their tragic history, including that his ancestors were persecuted for their Jewish faith.
He said: “That’s hard to take when it’s someone in your bloodline, tortured for years and burned at the stake. Knowing my family went through that – I can relate to it even more.”
And Mark, 32 – who is married to ‘Brassic’ star Michelle Keegan – tried to follow in the footsteps of his great-grandfather by trying out fencing during a trip to the country while filming the BBC show.
He said: “The guy said I was pretty good and had a natural aptitude, so maybe I’ll take it up! “I’d definitely give it another go because I really enjoyed it.”
Meanwhile, Mark recently revealed his life is “perfect” now he’s quit his job on ‘Extra’ in Los Angeles and moved back to the UK to be with Michelle.
He said: “It will be easy getting back in the swing of things! We won’t have to travel 11 hours every week.
“It’s perfect and it makes it more fun knowing we’re seeing each other and settled back home…
“We love home life, I said it last night while we were cooking dinner. We love cooking and watching films…
“Normal life for us is like date night. We go to the shop, we get our food and we cook it and we choose our film and we just love it.
“It’s like an event for us, just real life we love it. Doors shut, with the dogs, it just never gets old.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Eva Longoria used her “mum compass” in ‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold’.
The 44-year-old actress plays the mother of the titular character in the upcoming live-action ‘Dora the Explorer’ spin off and admitted she was told to keep her maternal instinct in check because she couldn’t help but think about the titular teenager – who is played by Isabela Moner – in the same way she would worry about her and husband Jose ‘Pepe’ Baston’s own son, 14-month-old Santiago.
She said: “It’s exciting [to play a mum] because this is the first time I’m doing a movie that Santiago can watch.
“It’s the first movie where I’ve played mum while being a mum.
“All of a sudden, I had a mum compass.
“I’d say things like, ‘Should we let Dora hold that snake?’ But the director would have to correct me and say, ‘Eva, this is Dora. This is not Santiago.’ ”
Eva’s friends from around the world were very excited when they heard she was going to be in the film.
She told Britain’s OK! Magazine: “Dora was an icon on the Hispanic community.
“When I got the part, my friends from London, Germany and France all called me and I said, ‘How do you know who Dora is?’ I didn’t know she was a global icon.”
But the former ‘Desperate Housewives’ star initially planned to turn down the role because her son was so young, but her husband persuaded her to sign up.
She explained: “When I received the phone call to do ‘Dora’, Santi was two months old.
“I said to Pepe, ‘Honey they just called me. They want me to play the mother of Dora in Australia. I’m going to have to say no because Santi is so little. We can’t take him to Australia while I’m still breastfeeding.’
“And he goes, ‘Why not? You have to do this. What do you mean you’re not going to do it? We’ll all go.’ And we all went together to Australia as a family.
“Pepe was the one who really told me to do the role.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Holland admits it’s been a “crazy week” for him as the face of the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise.
The 23-year-old actor made the remarks after it was revealed that the superhero was divorcing the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after Sony and Disney failed to reach an agreement over the future of the franchise.
Speaking at D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Tom told fans: “Hey all, it’s been a crazy week but I want you to know that I’m grateful from the bottom of my heart. And I love you 3,000.”
Tom’s comments come shortly after Sony tried to clarify its position regarding the iconic movie franchise.
In a statement, the company explained: “Much of today’s news about’ Spider-Man’, has mischaracterised recent discussions about [Marvel boss] Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise.
“We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action ‘Spider-Man’ film. We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own.
“Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue.”
There were several months of negotiations between the Disney-owned Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures to change the original deal, which saw Marvel collect five percent of the profits of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’.
However, the two parties haven’t been able to reach a satisfactory compromise.

OHMYGOSSIP — Penelope Cruz would be “completely lost” without her work.
The ‘Pain and Glory’ star – who has children Leo, eight, and Luna, six, with husband Javier Bardem – is “addicted” to acting and can’t bear the idea of not being cast again.
She said:” I started when I was 17 and I still remember when I finished my first shoot.
“I thought, ‘If it’s the last one, I won’t be able to take this.’
“If it all stopped, I would feel completely lost and wouldn’t know what to do with my life.
“I realised that performing had become an addiction.
“It was my life and it’s been my life since I was a kid.”
The 45-year-old actress feels “very lucky” to have always had a steady stream of acting jobs, particularly because she has friends who haven’t been so fortunate.
She told Britain’s HELLO! Magazine: “I’ve been very lucky, you know.
“I have not been out of work.
“But I cannot say, ‘Oh I don’t even know how that must feel.’ No, because I have a lot of friends who are in that situation, unfortunately, and they are very talented but don’t have a job.
“So I’m very, very grateful for what I have.”
However, Penelope no longer accepts as many roles as she used to because she wants to put her family first.
She explained: “I’ve always been addicted to my family and it’s even more the case since I’ve become a mother myself, and this is what has saved me from many problems and has helped me connect to my life.”

The Panesars, a British Asian family of Punjabi Sikh heritage, will make their way to Walford later this year made up of brothers Kheerat (Jaz Deol), Jags (Amar Adatia), and their younger sibling Vinny (Shiv Jalota).
Jon Sen, EastEnders’ executive producer, said: “The Panesar family are set to arrive this autumn and will bring their own unique blend of charm and chaos onto the Square.
“A British Asian family of Punjabi Sikh heritage, Kheerat, Jags and Vinny are three very different brothers who turn up in Walford looking to settle a score – however, fate quickly takes a hand and they find themselves staying for good.
“We’re thrilled to be introducing this vibrant new family to Walford and to be sharing their stories.”
Charismatic Kheerat is the eldest brother and a successful businessman, who is idiolised by Jags, who tries hard but often leaves the rest of his family unimpressed.
Jaz Deol said: “I’m very proud and excited to be joining such an iconic show and bringing to life a character that is a reflection of the cultural background that I and many others come from in today’s modern Britain.
“I can’t wait to get started and for viewers to meet the Panesars.”
Amar added: “My younger self would never have believed I’d be on ‘EastEnders’.
“It’s pretty amazing to be part of one of the most iconic television shows alongside some of the best actors in the business. I really am so grateful.”
While Vinny is the golden boy of the family, trouble is never too far away from him.
Shiv said: “It still hasn’t sunk in that I’m going to be on ‘EastEnders’.
“As a young boy, I remember being introduced to the Masood family and thinking there are people like me on television.
“To be part of that next generation of people representing my identity is a blessing. I couldn’t be more excited.”

The ‘Coronation Street’ actor – who plays Ali Neeson on the ITV soap – popped the question to his significant other Sophie Coates in the middle of Lake Windermere in the Lake District – and she has made him a “very happy man”.
He wrote on Instagram: “So at the weekend I asked my best friend to be my wife on a boat in the middle of the lake and she said yes and it’s made me one very happy man #lakedistrict #engaged #happy (sic)”
Sophie revealed she couldn’t believe it when James asked her, so much so she said “are you joking” around 17 times.
She wrote: “I said yes! Not really, I said “are you joking” about 17 times and then I said yes (sic)”
Several of James’ ‘Corrie’ co-stars congratulated him on the news, including Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt).
He wrote: “Congrats burrows! X. (sic)”
Julia Goulding (Shona Ramsey) posted: “Congratulations to both of you! Xx (sic)”
James’ proposal comes just three months after he and Sophie welcomed their first child into the world.
The cobbles favourite confirmed the news by sharing a photo of himself and Sophie with their daughter Betty.
He wrote: “Out with my beautiful girlfriend @sophie_coates baby free for a few hours while nana and grandad look after her #happyness (sic)”
James and his significant other discovered they are to become parents for the first time last year, and in March the soap star said he was “so excited” to meet his baby girl.

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Capaldi will reunite with Mark Gatiss in a new ghost story drama.
The former ‘Doctor Who’ star will team up with the sci-fi show’s writer in ‘Martin’s Close’, a 30-minute drama based on M.R. James’ story of the same name which will air on BBC Four this Christmas.
Mark – who will direct the show – said: “After the delightful success of last year’s ‘The Dead Room’, it’s a fantastic privilege to continue the tradition of the Christmas Ghost story on BBC Four – and what better than one of my favourite stories by the master of them all, M.R. James?”
The story sees John Martin on trial for his life in front of the infamous “hanging judge” George Jeffreys, but the girl he is accused of killing has been seen alive.
Peter will portray Dolben in the drama, with Wilf Scolding set to play John, and Elliot Levey will star as the judge.
Simon Williams will take on the role of Stanton, Sara Crowe will portray Sarah, James Holmes will star as Snell, and Fisayo Akinade is to portray William.
Cassian Harrison, channel editor of BBC Four, said: “I’m delighted to welcome another of Mark Gatiss’ ghostly escapades to BBC Four after the success of last year’s ‘The Dead Room’.
“With a stellar cast and a plot to send a shiver down the most resolute of spines, this is a guaranteed treat for the winter nights.”
Last year, Mark wrote and directed ‘The Dead Room’ for BBC Four, with Simon Callow starring as the main character.
It came after Mark’s other BBC ghost stories, ‘Crooked House’ and ‘The Tractate Middoth’ aired in 2008 and 2013 respectively.

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Roberts was rushed to hospital after accidentally rubbing a poisonous plant in his eyes.
The ‘Homes Under The Hammer’ host had to head to A&E at 3.30am after the painful gardening accident – caused by the Euphorbia plant – left him with swollen and streaming eyes when he touched the evergreen perennial and got the toxic sap on his eyes.
Talking on Instagram, he explained: “This is a really important warning, it’s 3.30am in the morning and I’m in A&E.
“After doing some gardening earlier on and there’s a plant called Euphorbia, you need to look it up on the internet because it’s in lots of people’s gardens.”
The milky sap can even cause permanent blindness if it’s left untreated, and it irritates the skin and eyes with a severe burning sensation while causing blurred vision.
The 56-year-old presenter – who appeared on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ three years ago – urged his followers to “look out” for the dangerous plant.
He added: “If you cut it as I did, it produces a sap, a white sap and if you get that on your hands, and worse, if you get it on your eyes then it causes some serious issues and that’s exactly what I am like now.
“So it’s got worse and worse and worse this evening and I couldn’t sleep so now I’m just waiting to see a doctor. So listen, look out for this plant Euphorbia it’s green and has yellowy, green leaves.”
The Royal Horticultural Society advises gardeners to avoid the risk of contamination by covering their skin and wearing gloves, while it’s always worth checking plant labels for toxicity warnings and avoiding eating non-food plants.

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell T Davies thinks it’s time for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ to introduce same-sex pairings.
The ‘Queer As Folk’ writer has backed calls for the BBC Latin and ballroom show to take the next step by embracing its “gay” side when it comes to the couples.
Speaking at this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival, he said: “There’s two gay judges, lots of gay contestants – it’s gay, full stop. But it could be better.”
In the past, a number of stars – including Paul O’Grady, Dr. Ranj Singh and judge Bruno Tonioli – have called for ‘Strictly’ to feature same-sex couples on the show.
Earlier this year, AJ Pritchard revealed he wanted to be the first professional dancer to partner a male celebrity on the programme.
He said: “If they do decide to finally do same-sex partners on ‘Strictly’ this year I 100 per cent want to be the pro to do it …
“If it’s going to be anyone [in a same-sex pairing], I’d like it to be me. I’m 100% the pro to do it. I guess it all depends on who the celebrity contestants are this year.”
AJ insisted gender “doesn’t matter” when it comes to dancing and thinks a same-sex pairing would be “captivating” for viewers.
He added: “So I think we have to wait and see; but if same-sex partnerships do happen it’s going to be so captivating. And I am very open to it. People enjoy seeing bodies moving, it doesn’t matter [about gender].”
However, last year bosses ruled out the idea of same-sex couples because of a decision to stick with a “traditional format”.
A spokesperson said at the time: “‘Strictly’ has chosen the traditional format of mixed-sex couples and at the moment we have no plans to introduce same-sex couples.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Brody will executive produce and star in ‘The Kid Detective’.
The ‘Ready or Not’ actor will join Sophie Nelisse in the comedy drama from writer-director Evan Morgan, with production set to start in late September, Variety reports.
Adam, 39, will star as a former child detective, who takes on his first adult case at the age of 31 when a 16-year-old client (Nelisse) employs him to find out who murdered her boyfriend.
William Woods and Jonathan Bronfman will produce, with Adam, Jeff Sackman, Berry Meyerowitz, Mark Gingras, John Laing, and Gareth Morgan executive producing.
Meanwhile, Adam recently revealed that the director is one of the main factors he considers when he signs on for new movie roles.
He told America’s GQ: “First and foremost [that] the writer-director is the person that is at the helm of the world [they’re creating and] I find their storytelling IQ high. Ideally it’s like every choice in the movie would be interesting to me. I want to be in somebody’s head and imagination who I think is really talented. I mean, that’s a tall-order because who am I?
“Of course there are other considerations, like where does it shoot, how much does it pay and how much time does it take? I’m a practical man, and I’ve been afforded this great job and I’m so lucky to have it, and having a family has really brought that home even more.”
Adam also admitted he believes he has limitations as an actor but believes that can be a good thing as he is also versatile.
He said: “I’m limited, and I think I could be good in certain things, and I definitely have my limitations as an actor. That’s not a demand, that’s a hope.
“I think I do a lot of things well, and maybe nothing great. But together, it’s a nice cocktail. In any specific direction I could point to people who are more talented. But as a package, I think I’m versatile. I like to be in an interesting storyteller’s world. Hopefully the role is something that at once I can bring something new to it. I love a challenge, but I also like the idea of knowing I can sink my teeth into something too. I like to stretch, but I don’t need to jump into something so blind every time. I don’t want to repeat myself, but I don’t have to reinvent myself either. I’m not worrying about being typecast. I get bored enough and want to try new things that I don’t worry about accidentally being typecast.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gerard Butler has praised Morgan Freeman’s stunt skills.
The 82-year-old actor performed many of his own stunts for new movie ‘Angel Has Fallen’ and Gerard, 49, was impressed with the older actor’s tenacity.
He told Variety: “I was running that guy all over the place – upstairs, downstairs, throwing him in a room, behind cars, in cars, in a pool. I have to dive, grab him, pull him under and hold him under the water for a while. And I have to tell you, he was amazing and he loved it. At the end, he’s like, ‘I have to say, I’ve made many movies, but I had a really good time. I really enjoyed myself.'”
However, Morgan admitted he was not a fan of the underwater stunts.
He said: “I don’t swim. I took to the stunt like a person who doesn’t do water.”
Meanwhile, Gerard previously admitted he was worried he could kill Morgan during their stunt scenes in the third instalment of the movie franchise that sees him play Secret Service agent Mike Banning, with Morgan as President Allan Trumbull.
He said: “I don’t think, in Morgan’s whole career, he’s ever done as much action. I mean, we have him diving off boats, swimming in pools and running with bullets flying after him.
“Yet he seemed to absolutely love it and was up to any challenge. He’s 82 and there were times I thought, ‘He’s running faster than I am’. It was three or four solid days of action.
“He dives off a boat and then I have to push him underwater, and we run in and out of cars. I was going, ‘Please, don’t kill Morgan!'”

The 53-year-old judge admitted he has upset the hopefuls – which is the youngest ever batch of wannabe bakers to appear on the Channel 4 show – and made them “cry” more than any other series.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: “There were times when there was a bit of a disaster on one of the technicals. I walked in and saw it and sort of had a go at them, which caused a little bit of emotion.
“Yes I made them cry. They’re more pack animals now. Upset one and they all get upset.”
This year’s lineup has an average age of just 31, with the youngest contestant 20 years old.
Host Sandi Toksvig admitted the tears on set weren’t great, and the team felt bad for the youngsters.
She added: “Yeah, it wasn’t good. You know how when you’re at school and other pupils are in trouble, but even though it wasn’t you, you still feel s**t inside? We felt like that. We were like, ‘Oh God.’ ”
Paul – who put the younger lineup down to viewers growing up watching the show in their teens – admitted the age of the contestants means his approach to his own role has changed.
He explained: “When they’re younger, they need to start somewhere and sometimes they don’t listen.
“A couple of them didn’t listen and I went over and taught the point again and again and again and again, and they still didn’t get it.
“The ones that did start to listen, to both Prue [Leith] and I… got better. There’s a couple of them that didn’t, that just fell away, because you need to listen.
“We always give constructive criticism. We want them to get better, we want them to enjoy it … because the ones that learn get better…”
