Simon Cowell: Ant and Dec are like my younger brothers

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell sees Ant and Dec as his “younger brothers” after years of working alongside them.
The music mogul will team up with the co-hosts on his new show ‘Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions’, and he looks upon the pair – who have presented ‘BGT’ since it began in 2007 – as family after working with them for so long.
He said: “I love having the lads on the show, Ant and Dec are like my younger brothers, that’s how I look upon them now.
“We started doing all this years ago together and we’ve been through so much over the years.”
Simon also praised his fellow panellists Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon, admitting the former has been “the most loyal, easy to work with person” since she first started on the show in 2007.
He added: “Amanda has been with us right from the beginning and she’s been the most loyal, easy to work with person, genuinely, that we’ve ever had, I think.
“No drama, no demands, no this, no that, she just turns up, does her thing, loves the acts and is a great ambassador for the show.
“Alesha has been amazing! She could have been putting her feet up but came to work instead. She’s incredible and we’re all really happy for her and her family.”
And Simon joked fellow ‘BGT’ judge David Walliams still loves being the “centre of attention” of the show – even when he presses his golden buzzer.
He said: “David is David! He just loves being the centre of attention.
“He’s like all comics, you know, they live for that attention. You’ll never ever change him. As annoying as he is if he wasn’t there, I think you’d miss him.
“But you know what? Even if he’s got the golden buzzer he’s parading up and down in front of the audience and I’m like, ‘When you press your Golden Buzzer it doesn’t mean it’s for you, you give somebody else the attention,’ which he just doesn’t understand because it’s always all about him.”

Chris Ramsey in Strictly Come Dancing plea

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Ramsey has joked he is a “s**t” dancer ahead of his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ debut.
The 33-year-old comedian asked his fans to vote for him on the BBC Latin and ballroom show as he headlined the Alternative Stage at Leeds Festival on Sunday (25.08.19) afternoon – and admitted he needs all the support he can get to make up for his dodgy dancing ability.
Addressing the audience at the end of his set, Chris quipped: “Don’t forget to vote for me on ‘Strictly’ because I’m a f***ing s**t dancer!”
Chris – who also woke up a sleeping couple during his performance at the annual festival – thinks he’s in a win-win situation for the competition because as a comic it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t do well.
He told Digital Spy: “If [the dance is] good, they go, ‘Oh, he’s done well!’ and if it’s terrible, you’re still laughing so I’m doing my job.”
Chris also addressed rumours he dropped his wife while rehearsing for the show, and revealed they took a tumble at a wedding after some miscommunication.
He said: “I’ve only danced with [my wife] at one wedding, and that was ours, and it was just … swaying around.
“But it got to the week before it was announced, obviously we’re a little bit excited, we’re at a wedding, we’re drunk, and she did a backdrop, but she didn’t tell me she was doing a backdrop and she just went flat!
“It was the backest of backdrops, like, boom! It didn’t go well, it wasn’t the best start.”
Chris will appear on the upcoming run of ‘Strictly’ with the likes of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ favourite Michelle Visage, ‘Made In Chelsea’ star Jamie Laing and former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Catherine Tyldesley.

Great British Bake Off begins with very naughty episode

OHMYGOSSIP — The new series of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ starts with one of its naughtiest ever episodes for innuendos.
Judge Paul Hollywood kicks things off when he mishears contestant Helena Garcia, 40, describe her “fairy garden” birthday cake as a “furry garden”
According to The Sun newspaper, Spanish-born Helena – who lives in Leeds – says with a laugh: “Oh Paul, I know what you’re thinking.”
Paul, with a grin, the asks later on in the challenge: “How big is your … erm … fairy garden?”
The contestants and rest of the studio then descend into giggles as fellow judge Prue Leith, 79, describes the cake as being “more like a fairy mountain”.
Prue then tells another contestant she is “dribbling” over a cake prompting host Noel Fielding – who presents with Sandi Toksvig – to reply: “You’ve got to stop saying that.”
Throughout the upcoming series hosts Noel, 46, and Sandi, 61, had to act like therapists to the bakers because judge Paul was so tough on the hopefuls this year.
Sandi told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Yeah, it wasn’t good. You know how when you’re at school and other pupils are in trouble, but even though it wasn’t you, you still feel s**t inside? We felt like that. We were like, ‘Oh God.’ ”
“There’s a lot more work Noel and I do in the tent that doesn’t make the edit, where we’re going in and keeping everybody cheerful. We did a lot of therapy this year.”
Previously revealing how tough he was in the tent for Series 10 of the cooking challenge show, Paul, 53, said: “There were times when there was a bit of a disaster on one of the technicals. I walked in and saw it and sort of had a go at them, which caused a little bit of emotion. Yes I made them cry. They’re more pack animals now. Upset one and they all get upset … I think I hardened up a little bit this year actually. When they’re younger, they need to start somewhere and sometimes they don’t listen. A couple of them didn’t listen and I went over and taught the point again and again and again and again, and they still didn’t get it.”
The new series of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ starts on Channel 4 at 8pm on Tuesday (27.08.19).

Helena Zengel joins Tom Hanks in News of the World

OHMYGOSSIP — Helena Zengel is reportedly set to join Tom Hanks in ‘News of the World’.
It’s said the newcomer will star opposite the Hollywood veteran in the upcoming big screen adaptation of Paulette Jiles’ best-selling 2016 novel of the same name, which is set after the US Civil War.
The book and movie follows the unlikely friendship between Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd (Hanks) – an early predecessor to the modern day newscasters – and a 10-year-old girl he has to bring to her relatives.
As reported by Variety, Zengel – who most recently appeared in Nora Fingscheidt’s ‘System Crasher’ – has been signed up to play the youngster in the historical drama, which was originally set to be made by Fox 2000.
However, the recent Disney-Fox merger meant the project was abandoned, but Universal quickly bought up the rights and have already pushed the film into pre-production.
Greengrass penned a more recent version of the script after a first draft from Luke Davies, with production set to start later this year.
Hanks and Gary Goetzman are set to produce film Playtone, alongside Gail Mutrux – through Pretty Pictures – and Gregory Goodman.
Over the summer, Hanks starred on the big screen as he reprised his role as Woody for ‘Toy Story 4’, and he previously admitted he “wouldn’t be surprised” if there was another film in the franchise.
He said: “Well, no one is planning on it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if somewhere two-and-a-half years from now someone has this kernel of an idea that could become it.
“None of the ‘Toy Story’ movies are in a schedule, they’re not in a pipeline. They don’t say, ‘on this date, we’ll start work on the next ‘Toy Story’ movie’. They wait until someone comes up with a ‘Toy Story’ idea that is worthwhile pursuing.”

Quentin Tarantino says movie saves Sharon Tate ‘from her tombstone’

OHMYGOSSIP — Quentin Tarantino wanted to save Sharon Tate “from her tombstone” in ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’.
The 56-year-old director revealed he wanted to untangle the late star – who was tragically murdered by members of the Manson family in 1969 while she was pregnant with Roman Polanski’s son – and her legacy from her devastating death.
Speaking to Paul Thomas Anderson on the DGA podcast, he said: “It’s not the beginning and end-all of Sharon, there’s still more to learn about her and everything, but as far as saving her from her tombstone, the movie has kind of done that, to a small degree but to a significant degree.”
Tate was played by Margot Robbie in the movie, and while some viewers were disappointed that the actress wasn’t more involved in the plot, the filmmaker explained that was his intention.
He added: “She was almost supposed to represent normalcy in the [film]. She doesn’t have any plot to do, we’re just watching her live her life because that’s what was robbed from her, was living her life.
“And the fact that she’s a person consigned to history for the most part defined completely and utterly by her tragic death, and in these last four weeks people have watched Margot play this person, and they saw that she was more than that.
“And that she was a lovely person and they get a sense of her spirit and they get a sense of her life, and you actually watch her doing things that people do in a life, running errands, driving the car, just life stuff. And you even got to see the real Sharon juxtaposed into that. And now I actually think people will think about her differently than they thought before.”

Taika Waititi ‘excited’ about Thor: Love and Thunder

OHMYGOSSIP — Taika Waititi “couldn’t be more excited” about how ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is “panning out”.
The New Zealand filmmaker has cast Natalie Portman as the “Mighty Thor” in the fourth instalment of the franchise, and insisted she is not a “female Thor”.
The Oscar-winning actress previously starred as Jane Foster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in the first two ‘Thor’ films in 2011 and 2013.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ about bringing back the ‘Black Swan’ star to the franchise, Taika said: “[She’s] a Thor.
“There’s still the other Thor, the original Thor [played by Chris Hemsworth].”
He added: “She’s not called Female Thor. In the comics, she’s called the Mighty Thor.
“I couldn’t be more happy and excited by how its panning out.”
Taika starts production on ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ at the start of 2020, meaning his manga movie ‘Akira’ for Warner Bros. is likely to be delayed due to his ‘Thor’ commitments.
However, it is hoped he will return to work on the Japanese-American sci-fi film, which is based on the manga character of the same name, after he’s completed the Marvel flick.
Meanwhile, the prolific filmmaker is also set to direct ‘Next Goal Wins’.
The acclaimed director will adapt the 2014 sports documentary of the same name – which was directed by Mike Brett and Steve Jamison – for Fox Searchlight after Andy Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish acquired the rights to the project under their Imaginarium Productions banner.
The ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ filmmaker is adapting the feature with Iain Morris and brought on Garrett Basch to produce the film, which follows Dutch coach Thomas Rongen as he attempts to help the national football team of American Samoa as they try to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and recover from the indignity of being known as one of the weakest football teams in the world.
The ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’ director will release his latest film for Searchlight, ‘Jojo Rabbit’ later this year and the World War II movie will see Scarlett Johansson play a mother who is hiding a Jewish girl in her home during the reign of Adolf Hitler when her German son discovers her secret.

Kristen Bell’s daughters ‘know everything’ about Frozen 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristen Bell’s kids know “the entire plot line” to ‘Frozen 2’.
The 39-year-old actress, who is returning to voice Anna for the second instalment of the 2013 Disney blockbuster, has confessed that she told her two daughters – four-year-old Delta and six-year-old Lincoln, whom she has with husband Dax Shepard – “everything” about the movie and has warned them they could get “big time busted” if they let anything slip.
Speaking to E! News at Disney’s D23 Expo, Kristen said: “I did explain to my kids that they can’t talk about it.
“I was singing the songs to them very early on and thank god their words are still muddled when they’re singing, which has saved me a couple times when they’ve gone full voice with a new hit from ‘Frozen 2’ in the middle of the living room.
“I’m like, ‘Oh, oh, don’t.’ I had to explain to them they couldn’t really talk about it, this had to be a secret.”
She added: “I have told them the entire plot line.
“They know everything, they know all the new characters, they know all the new songs.
“And they can sing them, but they know they’re gonna get big time busted if they tell anyone.”
Details of the new movie are being kept secret until its release on November 22.
Idina Menzel will return as Elsa, while Josh Gad is also on board to voice talkative snowman Olaf again.
Jennifer Lee is again writing the script and she’s also co-directing with Chris Buck, who worked on the original movie.
Whilst Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown are joining the franchise for the first time, with the former voicing Iduna and the latter’s part currently unknown.

James Haskell in talks to join I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — James Haskell is in talks to join ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
The 34-year-old former rugby star could be set to head into the jungle later this year to take part in the ITV reality show, as he’s believed to be in advanced talks with producers of the show.
According to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, producers hope James – who is married to Chloe Madeley, the daughter of Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan – will be full of anecdotes about his in-laws, as well as the Royal Family, as he and Chloe attended Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s wedding in May last year.
A TV source told the publication: “Producers think James would be a great addition. They have made him a decent offer and are hopeful he will sign up.
“Being a top-class sportsman means he’ll be full of stories of the dressing room and what goes on behind closed doors.
“They also hope he’ll shed light on having Richard and Judy as his in-laws – and his friendship with Prince Harry.”
James retired from his role as a flanker for England in May this year after earning 77 caps for his country, and last week revealed he is training to become a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter.

Saffron Barker ‘so nervous’ about Strictly debut after falling in rehearsal

OHMYGOSSIP — Saffron Barker is “so nervous” about her ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ debut after falling flat on her face in rehearsals.
The YouTuber has revealed she was “the only” celebrity to fall whilst practising the first big group dance for the live launch of the BBC One Latin and ballroom contest on September 7, but she is “embracing every moment” of the experience.
She told Digital Spy: “I’m so nervous, I’ve had butterflies all day, I can’t stop going to the toilet, but I’m just embracing every moment.
“I can’t believe that I’m here. I feel like I’m in a bubble. It’s day one, but I already know I don’t want it to end.”
On the red-faced moment, she added: “I was the only person to fall over in the group choreography number.
“Like flat on my face – it was so embarrassing, I was bright red. So I’m just hoping I don’t redo that.”
Meanwhile, the 19-year-old social media star recently admitted her ‘Strictly’ partner will “hate her” because she will not want to stop training for the show.
Saffron feels like the “luckiest girl alive” to be one of this year’s celebrity contestants, and she is determined to work her “absolute socks off” during the “hard” training sessions.
She said: “I think my partner is going to hate me, because I will not want to leave that training studio.
“I want to work my absolute socks off, be the absolute best that I can be.
“I’m so excited for everybody to come on this journey with me.
“I’m so grateful, I feel like the luckiest girl alive. I can’t wait for everything.
“I’m excited to learn a new skill, I’m excited for all the glitz and glam.
“I know it’s going to be so much hard work. I’m ready to work hard and get in that training studio.”
Saffron’s parents and grandparents were left in complete “shock” to hear she had landed a place on the show, and her dad couldn’t stop smiling for an hour.
He said: “I’m so happy and proud of you.
“I don’t know what to do, I can’t stop smiling.”
Saffron’s mum added: “I feel like an emotional wreck just thinking about it. I’m so excited!”
Speaking in a vlog on her YouTube channel SaffronBarkerVloggs, the star added: “When you first tell someone it’s such a big shock to the system.
“My grandparents are always watching it and I think their immediate reactions were shock.”
Saffron will be joined by Jamie Laing, Will Bayley, Michelle Visage, Viscountess Emma Weymouth, Karim Zeroual, Mike Bushell, Catherine Tyldesley, David James, Chris Ramsey and Emma Barton on show.

Adam Brody finds horror movies ‘pleasant’

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Brody finds horror movie sets “civil and pleasant”.
The 39-year-old actor stars as Daniel Le Domas in the new black comedy horror movie ‘Ready or Not’, and has said that despite the harrowing material he has to film when he’s working on horror flicks, the actual film sets are far more “civilised experiences” than other films he’s starred in.
He said: “This was a remarkably pleasant and civilised experienced. In my short stint with horror, sometimes I find that horror sets are actually the more civil and pleasant set. There’s something about the material. Also, when you’re making it, it can be so inherently goofy and funny that it becomes a good time in that way. I just think horror directors are pleasant. I don’t know about across the board, but in my experience, I think they get their anger out through the work. But, no, no supernatural or sadistic games on this set.”
The ‘O.C.’ alum believes the lighter atmosphere on set is done in order to counterbalance the darkness of the material, as he insists the “average horror director” has a much lighter temperament than a comedy filmmaker.
Asked by The Hollywood Reporter whether the lighter vibe counteracts the dark material, Adam said: “Yeah, I definitely think that’s the case. Again, part of it is just the nature of what you’re doing, and out of context, it’s just hysterical. I bet a lot of people would attest to this, but in my limited experience and completely generalising, the temperament of your average horror director is probably lighter than the temperament of your average comedy director.”
‘Ready Or Not’ was released earlier this month, and stars Samara Weaving as a newlywed named Grace, who becomes hunted by her spouse’s family as part of their wedding night ritual. Mark O’Brien plays Grace’s husband Alex, whilst Adam Brody plays Alex’s brother Daniel.

Eva Longoria to direct Flamin’ Hot Cheetos inventor’s biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Eva Longoria has signed up to direct a biopic about the inventor of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
The former ‘Desperate Housewives’ star was previously announced to be making her big screen directional debut with ’24/7′, and now it has been confirmed that she is also set to helm ‘Flamin’ Hot’ about Richard Montane, who created the popular spicy corn snack.
The movie, which is to be produced by DeVon Franklin via Fox, doesn’t focus on Cheetos, but the rags to riches story of Richard, the son of a Mexican immigrant, who started out as a janitor at Frito Lay – the subsidiary of PepsiCo, who also manufacture Doritos and Ruffles – to becoming the name behind the world famous flavour.
Meanwhile, Eva recently admitted she didn’t feel she was “reaching her full potential” as an actress.
She said: “I knew when I was on set [as an actress] I wasn’t reaching my full potential as a human being, and I love telling people what to do – I’m really good at it. I say this confidently, not arrogantly. I’m a really good director because I’m a woman, because directing is about problem-solving and I think woman are the best problem solvers in the world.”
And the ‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold’ star previously admitted her “goal” is to direct and produce.
She said: “My goal has always been to direct and produce. I want to see my stories reflected on the big and small screens. I want more control over my destiny in this industry. Economic mobility is one way to empower Latinas. Latinas are the CEOs of the household finances and health decisions. I want to give women the tools to make sure they become engines for good.
“I want to be the female George Clooney. He directs, produces and stars. I want to be in charge of the final product. Everyone goes, ‘Oh, she’s an actor – turned – director,’ and I’m like, ‘No, I was always a director and a producer who happened to become an actor.'”

Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden name baby Ace

OHMYGOSSIP — Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden have named their baby boy Ace.
The ‘Emmerdale’ pair welcomed their new arrival into the world late last month, and the married couple – who play Debbie Dingle and David Metcalfe in the ITV soap – have confirmed the sex and moniker of their newborn.
But the couple – who also have kids Buster, nine, and three-year-old Bowie – had a scare when Ace wasn’t breathing when he first came into the world.
Charley, 31, said: “The umbilical cord was wrapped around Ace’s neck when he was born. It came off and he was passed to me but I could tell something was wrong.
“Ace wasn’t breathing at first – so the midwife had to press the panic button.”
Matthew added: “She said he’d cough and splutter, but he didn’t, so she had Ace on his front and was rubbing his back.”
The 39-year-old star admits it felt “like a lifetime” when the pair were waiting for Ace to start breathing even though it was “probably just seconds”, and he nearly vomited afterwards.
He said: “After I knew Ace was okay and breathing, I nearly threw up from the panic. I’d been so worried in those moments.”
Charley added to OK! magazine: “I felt weirdly calm as I’d only just pushed him out and was a bit zoned out from the gas and air, although I was together enough to see that he wasn’t breathing.”
The pair took to Twitter late last month to confirm they had welcomed their third child, and had nicknamed the little one “Baby Wolf”.
Charley wrote on Twitter: “BaByWoLf#3 has joined the crazy gang. We’re in a bubble of newborn’ness heaven (sic)”
Last week, she was struggling with “weird” hair since giving birth.
She asked on her Instagram Story: “Anyone else’s hair gone weird after having a bambino?
“Every time I was it it’s greasy. Driving me mad.
“Anything I can use to help it?
“When you’ve actually got time to wash your hair with 3 kids and then it looks like s**t. Worst.”

Jennie McAlpine ‘so scared’ about Coronation Street return

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennie McAlpine was “so scared” to return to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 35-year-old actress has returned to the cobbles to reprise her role as Fiz Stape after taking maternity leave to have daughter Hilda, now 10 months, but she feared she wouldn’t be able to act anymore after being away from the ITV soap.
Jennie – who also has four-year-old son Albert with her husband Chris Farr – said: “I was so scared to come back, I won’t lie.
“I didn’t know if I’d still be able to do it, almost like coming back to school after the summer holidays, and you question whether you can still write, but it’s just like riding a bike, so we’re alright.”
Fiz is set for an explosive return to the cobbles as her daughter Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) will be caught up in a fire in the coming episodes, which leads to more questions about the youngster’s behavioural issues.
Jennie added: “Fiz has been keeping things under wraps after the fire. She knows that Hope’s behaviour hasn’t improved, and has an inkling that there’s more to find out about the starting of the fire.
“Tyrone becomes a bit suspicious of Hope, and Fiz almost exhausts herself emotionally by reassuring those closest to her that her daughter isn’t capable of anything like this.
“It then becomes apparent that Hope may be getting worse.
“I feel that Fiz has been strung along by the stress caused by this little girl. She just wants the best for her daughter, she’d do anything for her and just wants a happy family unit.
“It’s upsetting because I think she knows that a normal family isn’t going to be normal.
“She’s torn because she loves Hope, but at the same time she’s disgusted by her actions and if she was anybody else’s daughter, she certainly wouldn’t be pulling any punches and would, in typical Fiz style, be very critical of them.”
Jennie recently admitted she felt as though she was thrown in at the deep end upon her return to filming, rather than be eased in.
She said: “I’ve got out of the habit of [learning lines], but actually it is just like riding a bike and I kind of just did it.
“They do that to you at ‘Corrie’ – I think they do it on purpose, they’re a bit cruel to be kind – they just threw me right in, day one.”

Eamonn Holmes jokes about Strictly curse

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes has joked he hoped the “‘Strictly’ curse” would hit him and wife Ruth Langsford.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter has been married to Ruth since 2010 and quipped that when Ruth, 59, competed on the show in 2017 – where she was partnered with Anton Du Beke – he wouldn’t have minded if she left him for a dancer as he would have received a great deal of public sympathy.
Speaking on ‘The Lateish Show With Mo Gilligan’, Eamonn, 59, said: “One man’s curse could be another man’s blessing. If Ruth had run off with a dancer there, I would have had to go into public grieving and been on the front of all the women’s magazines. Everybody saying, ‘Poor Eamonn, she left him in the lurch’.
“I’d have had to seek comfort in the arms of some poor woman, that would have me.”
And ‘Love Island’ host Caroline Flack – who won the show in 2014 – defended ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, explaining that although some relationships have ended due to the show, it has also been responsible for bringing many new couples together.
She said: “You’ve got a lot of marriages and a lot of people who have got together. It isn’t always affairs.”
Eamonn’s comments come after ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Ben Shephard recently revealed that his wife won’t let him follow in the footsteps of his co-stars Susanna Reid, Richard Arnold and Kate Garraway and take part in ‘Strictly’.
Speaking on the ITV breakfast programme, Susanna – who also appeared on the BBC show when she was runner-up in 2013 – said: “Three quarters of us have unashamedly busted out our moves on national television. Ben Shephard, it is time for you to get onto ‘Strictly.’ ”
However, Ben – who married Annie Perks in 2004 and has shares two sons with her – responded: “You know why I can’t do it? Because my wife doesn’t want me to have an affair.”
Susanna added: “Oh, because of the curse of ‘Strictly’? Actually, that’s a really good point, it has been pretty bad recently.”
The so-called ‘Strictly’ curse suggests being on the show causes couples to break up when celebrities embark on romances with their dance partners.
