OHMYGOSSIP — Tony Clay felt like he’d “arrived” on ‘EastEnders’ when he heard Patsy Palmer was returning to the soap.
The Albert Square actor’s alter-ego Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway is set for a dramatic Walford wedding to Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) next week, for which Patsy will reprise her role as Bianca Jackson, and he has teased fans to look forward to a suspense-filled week of episodes.
He said: “It’s an ‘EastEnders’ wedding, there’s going to be lots of drama, lots of suspense, we’ve got Patsy coming back, which is brilliant.
“That’s when you feel like, ‘I’ve arrived now.’ She’s lovely, the episodes are just great.”
Tony’s latest plot has seen Halfway develop romantic feelings for Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden), despite being engaged to Whitney, and the actor admits he felt a big “responsibility” to give the storyline justice.
When asked if she felt pressure to play the plot the right way, he replied: “Massively, yeah, and a responsibility as well.
“When you’re given a storyline like that you want to handle it with care and you want to represent people in the right way.”
Tony is also pleased he gets on so well with Max, admitting the pair have a “lovely chemistry” together.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, he added: “It was long days, you’re working with each other quite a bit. You’re on top of each other.
“If you don’t get on that could jar things, but we really do and I love working with Max.
“He’s such a talented actor and a giving actor. It’s really nice, there’s a lovely chemistry there.”
But he previously worried he “might not get on with” the 24-year-old actor.
Tony said: “With Max, there’s always going to be this worry at the start that you might not get on with the other person, but me and him have a great relationship.
“We have a lovely chemistry and, although we make each other laugh a lot, there’s always a level of professionalism there when we have big, intense scenes.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgia Kousoulou is speaking to a counsellor on a weekly basis after quitting ‘Sink or Swim’.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star appeared on the Channel 4 show – on which several non-swimmer celebrities train to take on the ultimate challenge of swimming the English Channel – last night (27.08.19) but departed the programme early after it became “a bit too much”, and she has admitted the “pressure” of the series’ challenge brought up “so much anxiety”.
She wrote on Instagram: “Prob the most honest post I have ever done & prob the worst pics Iv ever posted ..
I don’t even know how to open up fully as I have got so good at hiding my emotions but I’ll try..
Being apart of sink or swim has honestly taught me so much & im so thankful for the opportunity, I want to thank my team & the production team @twofourgroup & @channel4 who were AMAZING I feel like Iv been on a lIttle journey ..it just all got abit to much.. this was my first time in 5 years I realised I needed some Down time!

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Moffatt says presenting the new ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ podcast is her “dream job”.
The former ‘Gogglebox’ star is to team up with TV producer Baby Lame to co-host the BBC Three series’ pod, and the former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star admits landing the role is a “dream come true” for her.
She said: “If I could pick a dream job it would be sitting in a room with a fabulous drag queen chatting about RuPaul’s Drag Race.
“I have a life-size cut out of RuPaul himself and Bianca del Rio – honestly, this is a dream come true for me.
“I cannot believe that me and Baby Lame are the hosts of the brand new podcast for BBC Sounds – discussing every inch of the UK version.
“Not long to go until I get in the studio, meet all the queens and get to werk. Yass Queen!”
Baby – who produces the ‘Drag Race UK’ TV series – says he and Scarlett will be “gobby, fun and a bit rough round the edges” on the pod, and he cannot wait to get started.
The drag queen added: “The UK has birthed many great double acts over the years, Morecambe and Wise, French and Saunders … Holly and Phil.
“But I’m not sure anyone is going to be quite ready for Moffatt and Lame … including the BBC.
“I can’t wait to join Scarlett and get stuck into the Official Drag Race UK Podcast. Just like the UK drag scene, we’re gobby, fun and a bit rough round the edges.”
The podcast series – which will be available weekly on BBC Sounds – will consist of eight episodes, plus an introductory ‘Meet the Queens’ special, and feature analysis from judges, celebrity guests and the queens of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ on their favourite moments from each episode and all the gossip about what happened that week.
‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ will air on BBC Three from October 3rd.

OHMYGOSSIP — Taika Waititi is reportedly in talks for ‘The Suicide Squad’.
The ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ filmmaker – who also played Korg in both that movie and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ – is said to be holding negotiations for a role in the Warner Bros. sequel to the 2016 comic book blockbuster as part of the DC Extended Universe.
Although Variety did not have any firm details on his possible involvement, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director James Gunn has already signed on to helm the film after also writing the script.
Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and Viola Davis are all set to reprise their respective roles as Harley Quinn, Rick Flag, Captain Boomerang and Amanda Waller.
They will be joined by the likes of Nathan Fillion, Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior and John Cena
Meanwhile, Waititi was recently at the helm for satirical movie ‘Jojo Rabbit’ about a young boy whose mother takes in a Jewish girl to hide her from the Nazis.
The filmmaker played the boy’s imaginary friend Adolf Hitler in the project, which will be released on October 18.
He is also set to direct upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, and after casting Natalie Portman – who previously starred as Jane Foster in the MCU – as the “Mighty Thor” he insisted she is not a “female” version of the character.
Speaking about bringing back the ‘Black Swan’ star to the franchise, Taika said: “[She’s] a Thor.
“There’s still the other Thor, the original Thor [played by Chris Hemsworth].”
He added: “She’s not called Female Thor. In the comics, she’s called the Mighty Thor.
“I couldn’t be more happy and excited by how its panning out.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Bay is reportedly set to direct ‘Black 5’.
The ‘Transformers’ filmmaker – who will also co-produce the movie with ’13 Hours’ collaborator Erwin Soff – will be at the helm of the upcoming blockbuster, with Sony said to be in talks to finance and distribute.
As reported by Variety, the script for the project has been penned by Ehren Kruger based on an original idea from Bay, and although plot details haven’t been revealed it’s thought it will be “high on action”.
Meanwhile, there is a planned video game adaption also in the works, but it is said work will be completed on the movie first before development properly starts.
Bay is currently in post-production on Netflix film ‘Six Underground’, which stars Ryan Reynolds and will mark the director’s first collaboration with the streaming platform.
The project has been funded by the online service, who will also distribute it when it is released next year.
Although exact details of this plot are also under wraps, it was previously reported that the story “revolves around six billionaires who fake their own death and form an elite team to take down bad guys”.
‘Zombieland’ and ‘Deadpool’ screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have once again teamed up on the script, with the likes of Dave Franco, Adria Arjona and Ben Hardy joining Reynolds – who will also co-produce the flick – in the cast.
Meanwhile, it’s said once everything wraps on ‘Six Underground’, Bay will turn his attention to ‘Black 5’ by the beginning of 2020.

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Hawkins goes to bed by 9pm each night so she is ready for her super-early starts on ‘Good Morning Britain’.
The 42-year-old newsreader has been working as a co-host on the ITV breakfast show for the past five years and she admits she has a strict curfew on when heads to her bedroom for sleep because she has to get up at 3am for her job on the programme.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, Charlotte – who has four-year-old daughter Ella with her husband Mark Herbert – said: “I wake up at 3am. I did it for seven years at Sky and five years now at ‘GMB’ so you get used to it. You realise you can make it work and catch up with sleep at some point. I try to be in bed by 9pm, not long after my four year old!”
‘GMB’ has become must-watch viewing for its loyal fans due to Piers Morgan’s rants about current affairs and Charlotte admits presenting with Piers is as unpredictable for her and fellow host Susanna Reid as it is for the viewers at home.
And Charlotte is very selective about what battles she picks to have with Piers, 54, otherwise she’d be rowing with him most days live on-air.
She said: “It’s the same for me as for the people watching at home – you never know what is he going to say next. You think it’s going to be a particular kind of morning, then Piers will get the bit between his teeth and he’ll be off.
“People say to me, ‘How can you sit there and not say anything?’ But you can’t go up against Piers every time you disagree because you’d be there all day. You pick your battles for the things that either mean a lot to you or you think you can win.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorna Laidlaw says her ‘Coronation Street’ wig has been a “godsend”.
The ‘Corrie’ newcomer’s real-life look is very different to her alter-ego Aggie Bailey on the ITV soap, and as a result some of the soap’s autograph hunters haven’t recognised her when she is out of character.
She said: “The fans went mad when they realised that Mrs Tembe off ‘Doctors’ is on ‘Corrie’ now.
“Apparently it was trending – I don’t even know what that means. But I must say, the wig has been a godsend.
“I’ve just been stood at the back gate of ‘Corrie’ and someone has gone up to one of the other actors to ask for an autograph, but didn’t ask me.”
Despite being in Soapland for eight years while playing Mrs Tembe in the BBC daytime soap, Lorna found it “really scary” joining ‘Coronation Street’, and she had to keep reminding herself not to revert back to her African accent.
She said: “It was really scary, as ‘Corrie’ is such a massive show compared to ‘Doctors’.
“It’s an institution. You walk on set and you can’t believe it – you’re in the Rovers.
“Then you’re in Ken Barlow’s house – it’s constant.
“Also I had to remind myself not to go into an African accent, which was my default after playing Mrs Tembe for eight years.”
The 56-year-old actress realised her ‘Corrie’ role was meant to be after noticing several coincidences to her real life.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: “There are loads of things that, when I got this job, made me go, ‘Oh my God.’
“Agatha is my aunt’s middle name, my on-screen husband’s last name is George, which is my dad’s name.
“My on-screen son is played by Nathan, and my real son’s name is Nathaniel.
“There are loads of little things that made me go, ‘The universe is looking after you, girlfriend.’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gaynor Faye says her ‘Emmerdale’ journey has “been a blast”.
The 47-year-old actress – who has played Megan Macey for seven years – has left the ITV soap after her final scenes aired on Tuesday evening (27.08.19), and she posted an emotional message paying tribute to the “amazing crew” and “wonderful friends” she’s met during her time there.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “Bye bye ⁦@emmerdale⁩ It’s been a blast. I’ve had some incredible storylines, worked with an amazing crew & made some wonderful friends. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom heart xxx (sic)”
Megan left the village for a fresh start after Frank Clayton’s (Michael Praed) funeral following his tragic death in the factory fire, and she decided to take her daughter Eliza – whom she shares with Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) – near Newcastle so she can be enrolled in a school dedicated to teaching children with cerebral palsy.
Gaynor – who also previously played Judy Mallett on ‘Coronation Street’ from 1995 to 1999 – has been cast in the upcoming ‘Band of Gold’ stage show based on her mother Kay Mellor’s original TV series, and her former co-star Laura Norton (Kerry Wyatt) has wished her the best.
She tweeted: “Au revoir Megan @MsGfaye @emmerdale you are bloody brilliant! Have absolutely loved working with this brilliant lady – we’ll miss you, but can’t wait to come and watch you treading those boards (sic)”
She added: “Miss you already. Absolutely smashed these last weeks eps to bits. Total powerhouse. (sic)”
‘Corrie’ star Jennie McAlpine – who plays Fiz Stape on the cobbles – also weighed in with some kind words.

Gaynor previously explained she quit the soap to focus on new roles and fresh experiences as a performer – even though it is a big move to make.
She said: “It’s a risk. I need to push myself out of my comfort zone. I’ve always been the type of person who doesn’t want to stay playing the same character for too long.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Motsi Mabuse will be a “firm but fun” judge and won’t favour her sister Oti Mabuse.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge Shirley Ballas believes her new fellow panellist will deliver plenty of constructive criticism to the celebrities and their pro partners when she makes her debut on the panel later this year, and insists she will show no favouritism towards her sibling, who is a dancer on the series.
She said: “I feel as though she will judge without fear or favour – it’s always a question about her sister and her being in the show but I know her integrity and her family and it’s just second to none. She’s amazing.
“She’s firm but fun – she says it as it is, she’ll deliver them a message every week so they can improve. She’s not a harsh person, she’s really very loveable.”
And Shirley admits she gets on so well with the 38-year-old dancer, who is the “funniest person” she has ever met.
She added to Mirror Online: “Her inside is as beautiful as her outside and she has got to be the funniest person I’ve ever met in my entire life.
“So her sense of humour, my sense of humour really goes well together you know.”
While she is yet to take her place on the panel, Motsi has already had to make an apology – to the town of Blackpool, after previously describing the place as the “ugliest” she had ever seen.
Writing in her autobiography, she said: “Every dancer knows the town, which is the ugliest that I had ever seen.”
But she has now back-tracked on her comments, insisting the seaside town – which she first visited in 1988 – is “different” to her native South Africa.
She told The Sun newspaper: “Oh come on guys give a girl a break! It was 20 years ago I was young and innocent.
“Blackpool is absolutely huge in ‘Strictly’ but when you come from South Africa and you have your first impressions and you arrive in Blackpool, well it’s different.
“It’s different let’s put it that way. But what I’ll also say, if you walk into the ballroom it’s absolutely spectacular.”
Every year, a ‘Strictly’ show is broadcast from the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom, with many celeb contestants keen to stay in the competition to be able to perform at the iconic venue.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Sanditon’ star Anne Reid star thinks there is too much male nudity on television now – and 007 star Daniel Craig is to blame.
The 84-year-old actress plays rich widow Lady Denham in the new ITV period drama which featured three men showing off their naked bottoms on the beach and a sex scene in the woods in the first episode but Reid is not a fan of on-screen flesh and claims Craig emerging from the sea in tiny sky blue swimming trunks in 2006 James Bond film ‘Casino Royale’ was responsible for sparking the trend rather than shirt-ditching Andrew Turner in ‘Poldark’.
In an interview with the new issue of Radio Times magazine, she said: “I don’t think it’s Andrew. It’s the times we live in. There are a lot of naked males around and I think it’s unnecessary. Look at ‘Poldark’. But I’m old and it’s what people want nowadays.
“It was Daniel Craig’s fault, coming out of the sea. It’s just a thing now: if you’ve got the sea and you’ve got a bloke, then he has to take his kit off and get in the water.”
Reid also joked she won’t be stripping off for ‘Sanditon’ or any other project unless she gets paid millions of pounds.
She quipped: “I said, ‘I hope they don’t ask me to do it.’ I’d want a great deal of money. About four million pounds might do it. I could put the nation off their tea and then retire!”
‘Sanditon’ is based on a novel written by Jane Austen which remained unfinished when she died in 1817 at the age of 41.
Screenwriter Andrew Davies – who was also responsible for the BBC’s 1995 adaptation of Austen’s book ‘Pride and Prejudice’ – took the 11 completed chapters of the tome for inspiration to create his eight-part television series.
Kris Marshall plays architect Tom Parker who is developing Sanditon into a fancy Regency resort in the story and he insisted he had no issue baring his bum for the programme.
The 46-year-old actor said: “I don’t have a problem showing my bum. The simple fact was female nudity was a lot more hidden away in those days, and male nudity was kind of natural. So it’s completely historically accurate and Andrew Davies isn’t sexing Austen up at all.
“The only issue for me is that out of the male leads in the show, I’m the most senior by 14 years. These other boys are very beautiful and gym-ready. I had to watch the carbs.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark-Neal is “gutted” he wasn’t able to get Dale Winton’s blessing to host the relaunched ‘Supermarket Sweep’ before the TV legend passed away.
Rylan is hosting a revamped version of the beloved 90s game show, which was originally presented by Dale – who died aged 62 in April last year – from 1993 to 2001.
The 30-year-old star insists he was “born” to front the trolley dash programme but he wishes he could have spoken to Dale before his death to get his seal of approval to take on the series and get some tips.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, he said: “The most gutting thing when Dale died was I never had the opportunity to ask him about it. Every job I’ve inherited, like Strictly’s ‘It Takes Two’ and the radio show with Zoe Ball or ‘Big Brother’ with Emma Willis, I’ll always ring them first and say, ‘Are you OK with me doing it?’ And genuinely, if they said no, I wouldn’t have taken the show. That’s how I am, there’s not a lot of people that are like that but I was just brought up that way.
“If Dale was still around, he’d be doing it, as it’s his show. But sadly he’s not. Hopefully if a millionth of the people say, ‘Oh, he’s done a good job,’ I’ll be happy, as Dale is probably the toughest act I’ve ever had to follow.”
Rylan admits when his name was repeated linked to the new ITV2 version of ‘Supermarket Sweep’ he was delighted because he knows it is the perfect vehicle for him, and he would have been fuming if the job had gone to someone else.
He added: “I was born to do this. Out of all the shows I’ve done, even ‘Big Brother’, there was never a sense of ‘it makes sense’ – unlike ‘Supermarket Sweep’. The second it was announced that the rights had been bought, I kept hearing, ‘Oh yeah, Rylan will host that,’ and I was like, ‘Of course I f***ing will.’
“My first thought was, ‘If you give this to Stephen Mulhern I’m having a row. I love Stephen, but I’m not having that one!”
Rylan admits the 2019 show will be very loyal to the original but will have some new twists such as the contestants using self-service scanners and celebrity guests.

OHMYGOSSIP — Maisie Smith says important life advice from Charlie Brooks has helped ensure she hasn’t “struggled with fame” while growing up in the spotlight.
The 18-year-old actress has portrayed Tiffany Butcher in ‘EastEnders’ since 2008, and she admits a valuable comment from the 38-year-old star – who played Janine Butcher in the BBC One soap from 1999 to 2014 – has stayed with her throughout her career.
She said: “It’s all I’ve ever known; I’ve been acting since the age of four. When I was working with Charlie Brooks [Janine Butcher], she said, ‘Whatever happens in your career, stay grounded,’ and that has stayed with me.
“I don’t feel like I’ve struggled at all with fame; I’ve managed to work my life around it.”
While Maisie has managed to avoid becoming a victim of fame, she does receive “the odd negative comment” online, with some trolls branding her “ugly”.
She added to OK! magazine: “Everyone experiences the odd negative comment, but I just ignore them.
“I don’t let them affect me because there are so many other comments full of love. It’s usually just people saying: ‘You’re ugly,’ or weird, random things like that.
“I’ve grown up with social media and just focus on the positive stuff.”
Maisie was just six years old when she started out on ‘EastEnders’, and recently admitted she thought her family were moving to Albert Square in real life – until her mum convinced her otherwise.
She said: “Apparently, this is what my mum told me, on my first day of being on set I looked at all the houses and said, ‘Mum, I don’t really want to live here.’
“I thought we were moving. And she said, ‘Oh, Mais, it’s not real.’
“But I had no idea. She had to really convince me that we weren’t actually moving to some random square in London.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Chastain thinks the brutal hate crime scene in ‘It Chapter 2’ is still too relevant.
The horror sequel opens with a scene from Stephen King’s original 1986 novel which sees a gay couple attacked by a group of teenagers, which was inspired by the death of Charlie Howard in the writer’s hometown two years before he released the book.
Chastain – who plays an adult Beverly Marsh in the movie – told Variety: “He wrote the novel ‘It’ because a hate crime was committed in his childhood town. That darkness, he wanted to explore and that’s the first scene in our film… It’s going to be hard to talk about this without crying.
“I think you need that scene because he writes about the darkness that’s under the surface. The dirt under the fingernails of these small towns or of mankind. That’s what ‘It’ represents. It’s the darkness of human behavior.
“I think it was important to see Adrian’s scene and not to change it from what it is in the novel because we’re living in a time right now where it is very much a part of our culture and part of our conversation and we haven’t moved past it. So, we can’t pretend that it doesn’t still exist because it’s part of our every day.”
The 42-year-old actress added that King’s skills as a writer come from focusing on the horror “inside of us”.
She explained: “The reason why I think Stephen King is the king of this genre is because he writes psychological horror. The monster usually is spawned from a human. It’s inside of us. Look at ‘Pet Sematary.’ Look at ‘Misery.’ We can become our worst enemies sometimes.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Woody Harrelson is set for ‘Venom 2’.
The 58-year-old actor appeared in an end credit scene in last year’s blockbuster as Cletus Kasady – whose comic book alter ego is the evil symbiote Carnage – and it seems fans will get a proper introduction to the character in the upcoming Sony sequel, with Andy Serkis directing and Tom Hardy reprising the title role.
Cinematographer Robert Richardson told Collider: “I was looking forward to entering into that arena with ‘Batman’ years ago with Ben [Affleck]. I thought, ‘Well this is something I haven’t done that I would love to try to do.’
“And then Andy Serkis, who I worked with on ‘Breathe’, gave me a call a month ago and said that he was up for this and would I be willing. I’d seen the film.
“I watched it again, then they sent me a script and I felt like, yeah, I would say yes anyway to Andy just because I would say yes to Andy, but I also think it’s a great… I think it’s unexplored yet, and it’s going to explode, and this film, I think, will help it explode, because you have a remarkable central character with Venom, but now you’ve got Woody Harrelson, who’s going to obviously make his own little entrance here, and we’ll see what else comes in with the Sony Marvel collaboration.”
Richardson admitted he is particularly looking forward to working with leading man Hardy on the project, and he described him as “one of our best”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarborough’s Jason Manford says it is a “travesty” his co-star Steve Edge hasn’t landed more TV work in the past.
Jason is delighted to be acting alongside his best pal for the first time during their 20-year friendship in Derren Litten’s new BBC One sitcom, in which Jason plays Mike, a 40-something who has returned to the titular town to give his relationship with Karen (Catherine Tyldesley) another go.
He said: “Playing my best mate is my actual best mate Steve Edge, who I think is one of the best character actors in the country.
“He just has funny bones and it’s a travesty that we’ve not seen more of him before. I can’t wait for everyone to see just how hilarious he is in this show.”
Steve – who has starred in ‘Phoenix Nights’ and ‘Benidorm’ – added: “Jason and I have been mates for about 20 years but we’ve never worked together. He’s got a radio show and I do that with him now and again, I’ve directed him in something but we’ve never acted together so it’s quite nice to have a legitimate excuse to spend time with him.”
The show is set in the iconic North Yorkshire seaside town and tells the story of a number of Scarborough residents who are bonded by family, friendship and their love of Karaoke.
While there looks set to be plenty of laughs, there weren’t so many for Jason and Catherine when they had to play out numerous takes on the fairground rides at the town’s Luna Park.
Derren added: “Filming at Scarborough’s fun fair, Luna Park, was particularly funny. Cath and Jason had to be on a fairground ride for many takes.
“I feel bad saying it now but at the time the more the actors said how much they felt sick, the more it made us laugh.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rudolph Walker loves how the Notting Hill Carnival unites “people from all walks of life”.
The ‘EastEnders’ actor – who has played Patrick Trueman on the BBC soap for the past 18 years – attends the annual event every year after appearing at the very first one back in 1966, and he has heaped praise on the way the gathering brings people together.
He told ITV News: “I think what is so important, what brings in the crowd, yes it’s the atmosphere.
“But so many people from all walks of life, all different creed, colour, race, can get together for two days and jump, have fun, listen to good music, hug each other, smile. This is a recipe for togetherness.”
The 79-year-old star almost missed his interview at the carnival – which is one of the world’s largest street festivals – because he was stopped for autographs as he pushed through the crowds.
He added: “I eventually got here. It was so crowded getting along Ladbroke Grove. Every second you walk someone wants an autograph.
“It’s been quite something. It’s quite a journey. And of course the sun shining is helping tremendously.”
Rudolph has previously admitted his performance as Patrick has been inspired by a number of his own childhood experiences, such as seeing someone once put money under their hat.
He said: “I enjoy him. I draw from the fact he’s a really typical Trinidadian from way back. I draw on my uncles and the people I work with over the years and I’ve seen over the years and I’ve grown up with over the years.
“The money in his hat and little things like that. I love the character.”
