‘Sometimes you have to take one for the team’: Stephen McKinley Henderson not ‘heartbroken’ over being cut from Dune: Part Two

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen McKinley Henderson was “disappointed, but not heartbroken” to be cut from Dune: Part Two’.
The 74-year-old actor reprised his role as House Atreides mentat Thufir Hawat in Denis Villeneuve’s sequel and though his scenes ended up on the cutting room floor, he has no regrets because he still had a great time filming in Budapest.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “Well, sometimes, you have to take one for the team, and Denis went into the editing room and he came out with a wonderful film. It really is a wonderful film.
“So I can say I was disappointed, but not heartbroken.
“I’m still glad to be a part of Denis’ vision. He’s a wonderful filmmaker, and it was such a kick to shoot what I did shoot in ‘Part Two’.
“I also had a great lunch with Christopher Walken that I’ll never forget. It happened to happen because we ran into each other in the restaurant.
“And [working with] Austin [Butler] and Stellan [Skarsgård] and Timothée [Chalamet], I have no regrets whatsoever about being a part of the family. And that crazy Josh Brolin! Boy, that guy is fabulous.”
The veteran actor confirmed his storyline that was cut from the show was “faithful” to Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel, which saw Hawat captured before going on to put the Harkonnens against each other.
He said: “I don’t know how legal all this is, but the book, yeah. I mean, it was a favourite of Denis’.
“He’d been wanting to do this for years and years and years, and he was so wise to do it in two parts. So, by the time he got to the second part, he was faithful. I’ll simply put it that way. He was faithful in what he shot, so that’s about as far as I can go with it.”

Anna Paquin hails Stephen Moyer an ‘exceptionally talented’ director

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Paquin has praised Stephen Moyer as an “exceptionally talented” director.
The 41-year-old actress portrays alcoholic mother Ella in his husband’s new movie ‘A Bit of Light’ and she found it “really hot” seeing him work because he is so knowledgeable and had a very clear vision for the film.
In a joint interview with ET’s ‘Spilling the E-Tea’, she told her spouse: “You are exceptionally talented. You think in images and storytelling and camera angles and you know the inside and out of every single aspect of making a film or TV show and that’s really hot.”
Anna joked she had been cast in the film because of her ability to “ugly cry on camera”.
Asking Stephen, 54, what had impressed him about her performance, he said: “When I read ‘A Bit of Light’ for the first time, it was a play, and I thought it would make a wonderful screenplay.
“It was written by my friend, Rebecca Cellard, or Becks as we call her, and when I read this thing, you were the first person I immediately thought of.
“There are very few people in my orbit who could go down the rabbit hole of complexity that the character of Ella needed to inhabit.”
Anna then quipped: “And I’m not scared to ugly cry on camera.”
But Stephen insisted he knew his wife could give exactly the performance he was looking for.
He said: “The fact that you went to all of the places that I needed you to go to create this character. I knew you would, which is why I cast you.”
Stephen had previously directed his wife in their TV show ‘True Blood’, and the couple recalled shooting an intimate scene between Anna’s character Sookie and Joe Manganiello’s Alcide.
The actor-and-filmmaker said: “I had to allow Joe, in front of our entire crew, to grab your bits.”
Anna added: “Yes, but I had also consented repeatedly.”
Stephen recalled shouting out instructions: ” ‘I need you to go for it, Joe,’ and I was giving him permission in front of our entire crew.”
His wife added: “And then he was like, ‘Babe, is that OK?’ and I said, ‘Please, just do it.’ ”

Jesy Nelson lined up to take part in Bear Hunt

OHMYGOSSIP — Jesy Nelson is to take part in ‘Bear Hunt’.
The former Little Mix singer is expected to head to Costa Rica next month for the new Netflix series – which will see famous faces trained by survival expert Bear Grylls embark on a series of challenges – and producers think she’ll be a great signing for the show, particularly as it will provide the 32-year-old star with a springboard to relaunch her solo career.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Casting agents have approached Jesy to see if she would be interested and have deep pockets to ensure it’s worth her time financially. She has a huge fanbase and the reality challenge series would be the perfect comeback for her.
“Filming takes place for a few weeks so she won’t even be away from home and her creature comforts for too long.
“Jesy will be incredible.”
Last summer, the ‘Boyz’ hitmaker revealed she was planning to take some time off to see the world.
She wrote on Instagram: “Hey guys! So for a long time I’ve really wanted to go travelling but never had the time to do it.
“I’ve got some really exciting things coming up with work and my music, but until then I’m gonna take the summer off to travel the world.
“I’m going to be off my social media, I love you all so much and I’ll see you when I’m back.”
It was previously revealed Netflix planned to spare no expense when it came to securing bookings for the Holly Willoughby-hosted show.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “On similar celebrity-led challenge shows like ‘Strictly’ and ‘I’m a Celeb’, the line-ups often vary from little-known people to established stars.
“Netflix are determined their collection will be largely killer, with very little filler. They’re not scrimping on paying six-figure fees and aren’t afraid to cough up more for the biggest names.
“They’ll be shelling out an eight-figure sum in all, so the cast will be one of the most expensive in reality TV history.”

Imelda Staunton unlikely to appear in third Downton Abbey movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Imelda Staunton will reportedly be absent from the third ‘Downton Abbey’ movie.
The 68-year-old actress played Lady Maud Bagshaw in the first two films in the franchise but she’s not expected to reprise the role because of her commitments to London stage production ‘Hello Dolly!’, which she will be starring in while the project films over the summer.
However, Imelda’s real-life husband, Jim Carter, will be back as Charles Carson, as will Hugh Bonneville as the Earl of Grantham.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “This will no doubt be sad news for Downton fans, in particular those who were endeared by the character of Lady Maud.
“But they will draw some comfort from the fact that two of the best-loved central characters will be returning for this third outing.
“It still remains to be seen if the producers and writer Julian Fellowes will be able to reunite the entire cast.”
Imelda herself confirmed last month a third movie was in the pipeline.
She told BBC Radio 2 DJ Zoe Ball: “There will be a final film — there you go.”
Asked if she might have got herself in trouble by revealing the news, she replied: “I don’t care.”
It was recently reported ‘The Holdovers’ star Paul Giamatti will appear in the new movie, having previously appeared in the original TV series as Harold Levinson
A source told The Sun newspaper: “‘Downton’ fans will recognise Paul from the last time he starred in ‘Downton Abbey’ in the 2013 TV series, playing Harold Levinson, the brother of the Countess of Grantham. But getting him back is still something of a coup for the creative team because since then his career has seen him become even more in demand.
“That’s only going to increase since he was nominated for his Best Actor Oscar. But he has now committed to being a part of the new ‘Downton’ film.”
‘Downton Abbey’ originally aired on ITV between 2010 and 2015 before moving to the big screen with a 2019 film of the same name and the 2022 sequel ‘Downton Abbey: A New Era’.

Antony Cotton landed Coronation Street role after writing to beg for a job

OHMYGOSSIP — Antony Cotton wrote to ITV bosses begging for a role on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 48-year-old actor first appeared on the soap as Sean Tully in 2003 before becoming a permanent cast member in April 2004 and he admitted he took an unconventional approach to land the part, which he doesn’t think would work nowadays.
Reflecting on his impending 21st anniversary with the show, he told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Should they have a special to celebrate? I’m just thanking every heartbeat as it comes along. I’m very happy, very lucky.
“I do remember my first day on ‘Corrie’ … as if it was yesterday. But I wasn’t nervous, it felt like coming home because I knew so many people who had been in and out.
“Suranne Jones [who played Karen McDonald] was there, Sally Lindsay [who played Shelley Unwin] was there. I knew some of the writing team, you know, I asked for the job.
“I wrote and asked for the job, which is not a recommended way of getting gainful employment. But that’s how I ended up there, it worked. You can’t do that nowadays.
“Everything’s changing, the world ’s a different place.”
Antony – was awarded an MBE for his efforts to improve the lives of military personnel – loves working on ‘Corrie’ and is “most proud” that it has given him a platform to campaign on issues that are important to him.
He explained: “Corrie is special to me. I love where I work and I’m very, very proud of it.
“I’m most proud of the platform it’s given me for things like my work with the armed forces. I wouldn’t have had that without ‘Queer as Folk’, without ‘Coronation Street’. I’m thankful for every little stage of the way.”

Olivia Bromley reflects on ‘challenging and heartbreaking’ new Emmerdale plot

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’ actress Olivia Bromley has “challenging and heartbreaking” scenes ahead when her on-screen son is diagnosed with cancer.
The 29-year-old star’s alter ego Dawn Taylor and her husband Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) are to face turmoil when they are told baby Evan has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) and though the actress knows it will be a tough plot to play out, she thinks it is an “important” topic for the soap to tackle.
She said: “This is an incredibly challenging and heartbreaking story, but such an important story for Emmerdale to tell. I’ve learnt so much since working with Leukaemia Care and speaking to parents whose children have been diagnosed, and we want to not only raise awareness but to do justice to the experience of families who are blindsided by a diagnosis like this.
“For Dawn and Billy, like many parents, Evan’s diagnosis turns their world upside down so unexpectedly. It’s been inspiring to hear the stories of strength, resilience and also to hear of the incredible NHS staff who do such invaluable work when parents’ are at their lowest, so I hope we can also reflect this as we approach this storyline.”
Soap bosses are working closely with the charity Leukaemia Care on the storyline, to ensure a realistic and authentic depiction, and the organisation praised the ITV show for helping to raise awareness.
Colin Dyer, CEO at Leukaemia Care commented: “Every year 10,000 people are diagnosed with leukaemia in the UK. A leukaemia diagnosis can affect not just the patient, but also their loved ones such as friends and family.
“The Baby Evan storyline being featured on Emmerdale, is helping to deliver a very important message not just about the awareness of the symptoms and the condition, but about how it affects the family and those around them.”
‘Emmerdale’ boss Laura Shaw pledged to handle Evan’s illness “sensitively”.
She said: “Evan’s leukaemia diagnosis will come abruptly and without warning for Dawn and Billy, like it does for many parents who find themselves facing this devastating situation.
“Working closely with Leukaemia Care, it’s vital to us that we portray this story as accurately and sensitively as possible and do justice to those faced with a diagnosis like this and highlight the severe impact a long term illness like this can have on families lives.”

Renee Zellweger returning in new Bridget Jones movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Renée Zellweger is confirmed she will return for a fourth ‘Bridget Jones’ movie.
The 54-year-old actress – who first played the producer in 2001’s ‘Bridget Jones Diary’ – will lead the cast of ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy’ alongside returning co-stars Hugh Grant as Daniel Cleaver and Dame Emma Thompson as Dr. Rawlings.
In addition, franchise newcomers Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall will also appear in the film, which is based on Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel of the same name and has a script written by the author herself.
‘To Leslie’ filmmaker Michael Morris will direct the movie , which will be released on Peacock in the US next Valentine’s Day (14.02.25), and theatrically around the world.
The ‘Mad About The Boy’ novel sees Bridget now aged 51 and navigating life as a widow and mother of two following the death of her husband Mark Darcy – who was played in previous movies by Colin Firth – while also enjoying romance with a younger man.
Previously, it was reported that shooting for the film was expected to start in May.
An industry insider told the Mail On Sunday newspaper: “Bridget is back and is about to take over London. Filming is being mapped out already and all of the pre-production is in place.
“There was some uncertainty about whether it would get off the ground, but the movie is coming.
“Renée is excited about bringing Bridget back. She adores the character so much. ‘Bridget Jones’ fever is expected to sweep across London this spring.”
Renée had also been quizzed on whether she would want to return to the ‘Bridget Jones’ world, to which she emphasised she would love to make a fourth movie and teased that another instalment was in the works.
During an interview with Radio Times, she said: “I’m working on it and I really hope it will happen.
“Every film that gets made is a miracle — it’s really difficult to make films happen and to make them good. But I’d love to see it on the screen.”

Hailee Steinfeld lands role in Ryan Coogler’s supernatural thriller

OHMYGOSSIP — Hailee Steinfeld has been cast in Ryan Coogler’s untitled supernatural thriller.
The 27-year-old star is set to feature opposite Michael B. Jordan in the picture that is in development at Warner Bros.
Filming begins later this month in New Orleans and Hailee features in an ensemble that includes Wunmi Mosaku, Delroy Lindo and Jack O’Connell.
Little detail has been revealed about the movie but insiders suggest that the flick takes place in the Jim Crow-era South and could involve both vampires and Southern supernatural traditions.
Some casting information has been linked with Jordan thought to be playing twins, Mosaku as the love interest of one of the siblings and O’Connell as a racist antagonist.
The film was first announced earlier this year and Warner Bros. came out on top in a competitive bidding war to land the rights to the project.
It is slated for release in March 2025.
Meanwhile, Hailee has detailed how she attempts to remain “grounded” by “checking in” with herself as she seeks the ideal balance in her life.
The ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ star told People last year: “As far as staying grounded, I’ve gotten really good at checking in with myself and listening to myself.
“I’m no expert in these departments, but I am an expert at knowing what is best for me at the end of the day, and I just try and listen to that.”
Steinfeld says that she has learned from her hectic career when she is away from the movie industry.
She explained: “I’ve been able to take that sort of lesson of embracing the chaos into my personal life.
“The part of me that is that thrill seeker…does find ways to challenge myself and keep myself on my toes…
“It really all comes back to health and wellness and checking in with myself.”

Colin Farrell cast in The Ballad of a Small Player

OHMYGOSSIP — Colin Farrell is to star in ‘The Ballad of a Small Player’.
The 47-year-old actor has boarded the cast of the Netflix picture based on the novel by Lawrence Osborne.
Edward Berger is directing the film with Rowan Joffe adapting the script based on Osborne’s story.
The plot centres on a high-stakes gambler who chooses to lay low in Macau when both his past and debts catch up with him. Along the way, he encounters a kindred spirit who could hold the key to his salvation.
Production is set to begin later this year with Berger producing for his Nine Hours banner alongside Mike Goodridge for Good Chaos.
The movie marks the first project under Berger’s creative partnership with Netflix via his Nine Hours company.
Colin previously explained that his main aim as an actor is to “entertain”, although he does admit to making some of his movies purely for financial reward.
The ‘Banshees of Inisherin’ star told Collider: “You just wanna do good stuff. Sometimes you’re going to work for entertainment and the money might be a bit better. Sometimes you’re going to work to satisfy your own curiosity. Whatever the reason, you have an understanding.
“Whatever the gig is, if it’s made for purely entertainment purposes, or for some greater intellectual or social provocation, you just wanna make something where people don’t waste an hour and a half, or two hours, of their lives, as simple as that sounds.
“If you do that, and if you live as authentically as you can in your life and in your art, then the legacy thing will take care of itself.”

Third series of ‘Euphoria’ delayed ‘as plots don’t feel tonally right’

OHMYGOSSIP — The third series of ‘Euphoria’ is said to have been delayed since Christmas as the plots don’t feel “tonally” right.
Insiders say a new character arc for the main character Rue, played by Zendaya, 27, in which she falls pregnant as a 20-something surrogate were not deemed a good fit by bosses at HBO, which airs the shock teen drama.
Variety has reported about the range of new scripts that have allegedly been offered by co-producer Zendaya and 39-year-old show creator Sam Levinson: “There was a new arc for Zendaya’s Rue, whose character in Levinson’s first pass had been relegated to the background in a somewhat surprising storyline about her working as a private detective, which HBO had immediately vetoed. “Among many other ideas for the rewrites, Zendaya had pitched an idea in which Rue, who is now sober as a twentysomething young woman, would be a pregnancy surrogate.
“But insiders say the new scripts simply didn’t feel like the show tonally.”
Sources also told the publication Sam has been in “overhaul mode” with his series three scripts after actor Angus Cloud – who played drug dealer Fezco on the show – died of an overdose last July at age 25.
In November, ‘Euphoria’ was hit by another tragedy when its producer Kevin Turen died suddenly of heart failure aged 44, which insiders say has also delayed getting the latest run of the show off the ground.
The Variety report comes after HBO stating earlier this week it had officially delayed the third series of the drama, which was set to begin production later this spring.
An HBO spokesperson said: “HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season.
“In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”
But Variety added: “What the network isn’t saying is that no one at HBO is at all sure a third season of “’Euphoria’ will ever come to fruition given the disparate visions for the show’s next chapter.”

Vicky McClure’s new series sees her play a woman suddenly afflicted by insomnia

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky McClure’s new series will see her play a woman who suddenly stops sleeping weeks before she turns 40.
The ‘Line of Duty’ actress, 40, is starring in Paramount+’s new thriller series ‘Insomnia’, in which she plays Emma Averill, who starts to have her sanity stretched to breaking point.
A show synopsis says: “A couple of weeks before her fortieth birthday, Emma stops sleeping – just as her mother had done right before she suffered a violent psychotic breakdown on the night of her own fortieth birthday.
“Emma’s mother always told her she’d go the same way, that she had the same ‘bad blood’ and now Emma’s terrified it’s true.
AAs events worsen, Emma’s world starts to unravel and she realises that only by investigating the truth of her painful past, can she find the answers to her present and prevent tragedy from striking a second time.”
Emma appears to have a dream life and career before she is plunged into the psychological nightmare.
Paramount+ confirmed ‘Insomnia’ will air in the UK from May 23, and has released as string of teaser photos of Vicky in her role in the lead-up to the launch.
In one image, she is seen in blue pyjamas looking distressed.
The show also stars Tom Cullen as Emma’s husband Robert, with her fellow ‘Line of Duty’ star Leanne Best playing her estranged sister Phoebe.
Corinna Malowe portrays Emma’s mother, with Smylie Bradwell and India Fowler appearing as Emma and Tom’s children Will and Chloe.
The screenplay was by Sarah Pinborough who adapted her novel of the same name for screen and is executive producer of the show.
Additional cast members include Lyndsey Marshal, Dominic Tighe, Jade Harrison, Robert Gilbert and Michelle Bonnard.
‘Insomnia’ is directed by Börkur Sigthorsson, whose previous credits include Sky drama ‘The Midwich Cuckoos’ and the BBC’s Baptiste.

Richard Hammond weighs in on cancel culture!

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Hammond says comedy deemed politically incorrect is actually pointing out the “importance” of controversial issues.
The 54-year-old former ’Top Gear’ presenter, who co-hosted the show alongside Jeremy Clarkson, 63, and 61-year-old James May – argued programmes that may seem shocking are really only playing with the idea of what is “acceptable”.
He said on his ‘Who We Are Now with Izzy and Richard Hammond’ podcast – which he presents with his 23-year-old daughter Izzy: “Comedy is so often sort of at the cutting edge of what‘s acceptable. It’s dancing around (that line) and sometimes it’s standing the wrong side of the line but what it’s actually doing is pointing back at the line and emphasising the importance of it. That’s critical.
“If people are wilfully taking a role in saying, ‘I don’t think this is (funny) but isn’t it funny if somebody does.’
“Because it’s there at the front, should it have a sell-by date after which it’s strictly not seen? Should it be scrapped, should it disappear?”
Richard also admitted he no longer found the sitcoms of his youth funny because society had “moved on”.
He said: “Everything I watched in my youth, pretty much all of it – when I say I wouldn’t find it funny now… I actually mean I wouldn’t find it funny because we’ve moved on.”
Izzy added taking “accountability” of the harmful content in offensive comedy was the key to understanding it.
She said: “It’s accountability. I think it’s not accusatory, it’s saying what you did there you didn’t think it was wrong but you need to understand now that’s not great and that is wrong.”
On a previous episode of his podcast, Richard’s ‘The Grand Tour’ co-star James May weighed in on the cancel culture debate, and argued the men got “a bad wrap” just for “being a bloke”.
He said: “I do feel like men are getting a bit of a bad rap recently. There’s a lot of talk about toxic masculinity and I know there is a lot of it around and it’s right that we confront it and address it… but it’s not all of us.
“We seem to be straying close to a point where simply being a bloke, especially if you’re a sort of older, lower middle-class, white bloke… you’re almost immediately written off.”

Davina McCall ‘top of wish-list’ for celebrity ‘Gladiators’ spin-off

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall is reportedly top of a wish-list to compete on the ‘Gladiators’ celebrity spin-off show.
The show was rebooted by the BBC in January after a 24-year hiatus, and the network is now said to be looking into casting the fitness fanatic ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ presenter, 56, in an all-star version – with reality TV regulars Mark Wright, 37, and 35-year-old Spencer Matthews also apparently in the pipeline.
A TV source told The Sun newspaper: “The BBC want big name contestants with the kind of strength and agility needed to compete with the intimidating gang of gladiators.
“Davina is incredibly fit and already looks keen to be involved, even if she has only previously talked about lending her presenting skills.
“As for the blokes, the producers love the idea of getting the fellas in to see if their gym-honed muscles are just for show or if they’ve got genuine brawn.”
A celebrity spin-off of the show was announced last week by ‘Gladiators’ production company Hungry Bear Media.
Head of the firm Dan Baldwin told BBC Radio 4: “I can reveal we are going to do a celebrity special… I think Gladiators is here to stay. “I’m going to say, it’s here to stay.”
The rebooted BBC version of ‘Gladiators’ has been a huge success for the BBC, with viewing figures soaring above the network’s expectations.
Dan added: “We wanted it to be event television so we had to get an audience of 3,000 people every episode.
“The first episode we had almost 10,000 turn up. So at that point, we knew that we had something.
“The first episode got 6.4 million. Now it’s at 9.8 million, the first episode, because of catch-up (TV.) And we didn’t think this show would be something that people would catch up on.
“But so many people catch up on it and it’s gone from strength to strength and we’re really happy with how it’s gone.”
‘Gladiators’, presented by Bradley Walsh and his son Barney, was filmed at Sheffield Arena in front of a live studio audience, which Dan has said has been one of biggest factors in the show’s popularity.
He added: “I think audience is vital and they reflect what is happening.
“We wanted to have families in that audience with their sponge fingers and signs and they really got into the event of it.”

Alex Garland set out to provoke ‘conversation’ with Civil War

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex Garland is determined to spark “conversation” with his film ‘Civil War’.
The 53-year-old director has helmed the new dystopian flick that follows journalists travelling across the United States as a Second Civil War rages in the country and is hoping to get viewers discussing the state of the modern world.
Alex told IndieWire: “My hope is that I make something which is compelling and engaging, but the product of that is some kind of conversation.
“I’m very wary of things that I feel would shut down the conversation. So it’s not that when people have conversations, there are assertions within it; there are statements within it, but you have to be careful about how you do that in a way, particularly in something which in some respects is one-sided because a film is just giving something and then the other part of the film, the receiver of the film (the audience), is made silent by that. And I’m trying to reduce that silence.”
Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura and Cailee Spaeny feature as reporters and a photographer covering the war but Garland rejected the arguments that journalism in a warzone is portrayed in a “utopian” manner.
He said: “I don’t think it’s utopian… because I remember a period of time (of) journalism as reporting, which typically took the form of trying to remove bias from stories.
“Attempting to remove bias and usually not using the word ‘I’, trying to objectify it or rather to be objective in that reporting, that was the dominant form of journalism for a long time, and it had the benefit of feeling more trustworthy than news organisations that are effectively working as propagandists in one way or another.
“I think all of those journalists, who are in a way calmer, more balanced, and fairer and more reflective; they all exist. They can be found working busily and in some ways effectively right now, except they’re not as effective as you would want them to be.”

‘I love to put on a show’: Jack Black enjoys returning to Kung Fu Panda

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Black’s desire “to put on a show” keeps him coming back to the ‘Kung Fu Panda’ franchise.
The 54-year-old actor lends his voice to the titular Po in the fourth installment of the martial arts animation comedy franchise and is always open to featuring in films that have good “stories”.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, Jack said: “You know, I love to put on a show. And if someone’s got a good idea for a new story, I’m always down. Whether it be a ‘Kung Fu Panda’, new journey or any kind of cool movie. I like to tell stories.”
The ‘School of Rock’ star revealed that he takes inspiration from the late Robin Williams as the Genie in ‘Aladdin’ and Steve Carell as Gru in the ‘Despicable Me’ franchise when it comes to voice roles.
Jack explained: “That’s probably my favourite Robin Williams performance – his voice performance in ‘Aladdin’. He crushed that role so hard, and he had some rad singing in there as well.
“He was a huge inspiration for me in my voice acting career. Yeah, that’s probably up at the top of the mountain for me.”
He continued: “You know who else I love? Steve Carell. He makes me laugh so hard in that role he does in ‘Despicable Me’. What is that accent? I don’t know. But he’s incredible.”
‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ sees Po team up with a fox called Zhen who is voiced by Awkwafina and Black felt that he and ‘The Little Mermaid’ star had “great chemistry”.
He said: “They work together on this adventure and it’s the first time that Po’s had a partner in crime like that. And that’s one of the fresh things about this, and working with her, it’s like she’s got a different sense of humour than I do.
“She’s kind of like a dry wit. She’s smarter than me. And she’s kind of sardonic, and Po is like childish and kind of full of bombast and innocence. The two of us together had a great chemistry.”

‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’ star Dale Bowes dead aged 28 after losing cancer fight

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’ star and paranormal investigator Dale Bowes has died aged 28 after fighting terminal cancer.
He was a ‘Lunchmate’ on 41-year-old Steph McGovern’s Channel 4 show in 2023, and had been fighting incurable synovial sarcoma of the left lung since 2021.
In the weeks leading up to his death, he said he was suffering so badly he could no longer enjoy his ghost-hunts in West Yorkshire.
Talk TV’s Gavin Wilson today led tributes to the star on Instagram, posting
alongside a picture of him and Dale: “RIP Mr Dale Bowes. A much loved Lunchmate of our @stephlunch @packedlunchc4 family!”
A GoFundMe page raising funds for Dale’s funeral says his condition worsened last month.
It added: “In March 2024, we got the news we had been dreading. There were no more treatment options for Dale as he had become too unwell.
“Dale was transferred to the care of St Gemma’s Hospice and returned home.
“Within a week, Dale was placed on an oxygen machine at home. Dale continued to get worse until he was admitted into St Gemma’s Hospice on the 25th of March 2024 for end-of-life care.
“Dale continued to fight despite all of the odds and is an inspiration to us all.”
Dale’s bio on Instagram reads: “I used to do bits on TV. Now I have terminal cancer. West Yorkshire Paranormal Investigator.”
He said in one of his final posts on the site at Christmas: “Spent the night with @west_yorkshire_paranormal_ltd_ at Todmorden Unitarian Church. Not very much activity on this occasion from what I saw but nevertheless a beautiful Church. Ice cold and in so much pain, I left a little early to get back to my hotel and rest.”
His last social media post was a tribute to the victims of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
In March 2023, Dale shared his thoughts on assistant dying on ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’, telling Steph on her now-axed show: “I’ve been told that current treatments will not cure my cancer.
“One of the treatments could help me but at the moment if I deteriorate into a situation where I’m suffering I think it should be the decision of the person who is going through that.”
