Strictly’s Dianne Buswell and Bobby Brazier share dancing reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Dianne Buswell and Bobby Brazier have reunited for a dancing session at a care home.
The professional performer, 34, was paired up with the 20-year-old ‘EastEnders’ actor for the 2023 series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and the two have now reconnected at a care home to dance with residents.
In the caption of an Instagram video which showcased the day, Dianne wrote: “Today was just pure joy to see how happy they all were to have us really was special and I got to have another little dance with the Bobsta.”
The performer quipped they “still didn’t quite get that lift” as they treated residents to another rendition of their Salsa to ‘(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life’, before concluding: “Thanks for having us.”
Although the duo reached the final for the BBC show, the pair lost to ‘Coronation Street’ star Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola.
Looking back at his time of the programme, Bobby admitted he felt “lost” and “misses” his partner.
Speaking to the panellists of ITV chat show ‘Loose Women’, he said “I feel a bit lost. I miss Dianne.
“I’m eating ice cream for breakfast, I’m in no kind of physical place… I don’t know what to do, what do I do? I fell in love over the course of the last couple of months with just telling the story. “Whether it’s the joyful story or the grief story, any kind of story, just the ability to express myself, with Dianne, through the means of a dance is so much fun. [I feel] immense joy and deep distress, but [I gained] memories that will last a lifetime.
“I knew from the very beginning that I didn’t want to miss out on anything, I wanted to experience all of ‘Strictly’, and I feel like I did. I didn’t miss out on any of the dances, as I say, I welcomed it all and I loved every second. Actually, that’s a lie. I didn’t love every second.”

Bernard’s Watch star David Peachey reflects on childhood fame: ‘Everyone always finds out!’

OHMYGOSSIP — David Peachey “never tells anyone” that he was a child star.
The 34-year-old former actor played the title role in the CITV series ‘Bernard’s Watch’ – which followed the adventures of a schoolboy who had a magical watch with the ability to stop time – but even though he doesn’t get recognized anymore, admitted that people always find out about his childhood fame.
He told Metro.co.uk: “Everyone always ends up finding out I was Bernard from ‘Bernard’s Watch’, because someone knows someone, or someone will search my name for another reason and it will come up. I never tell anyone or say, ‘By the way, did you know I was Bernard?’ but people tend to find out.
“The days of me actually getting recognised are long gone, maybe still at university a little bit but really the three or four years after it was on TV, it stopped a little bit.”
David – who now works as a GP – filmed five series of ‘Bernard’s Watch’ and the show was later revived as ‘Bernard’ with another child actor alongside late ‘Emmerdale’ actress Kay Purcell in the early 2000s.
But David insisted that while in the days of his fame, he used to get “really shy and embarrassed” when recognised in public, he has now embraced the experience for what it was and thinks that famous people have it “much harder” these days since the onset of social media.
He said: “I can’t speak highly enough of the experience, I used to hate if I was out and being recognised, I used to get really shy and embarrassed about it, but now I think it’s much harder in terms of the stuff people have to deal with, like social media and the instant response.”

Sam Taylor-Johnson intended to restore ‘agency’ for Amy Winehouse in Back to Black

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Taylor-Johnson wanted to reclaim “agency” for Amy Winehouse in the biopic ‘Back to Black’.
The 57-year-old director has helmed the film about the life of the tragic singer and wanted to place Amy’s accomplishments – rather than her troubled life and untimely death aged 27 in 2011 – at the centre of the picture.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Sam said: “Everything that she had achieved was being eclipsed by the tragedy of how her life ended.
“In listening to her music, it was full of paradox and nuance in a way that seemed to have been neglected. I wanted to take her to a place where she had her agency back.”
The ‘Nowhere Boy’ filmmaker met with the ‘Love Is a Losing Game’ artist’s family before starting work on the biopic but insisted that she had to have total creative control on the picture.
She said: “It was taking on a big story with a lot of swirling interest and anxiety from people who hold her dear. I just didn’t want to have to have people to answer to. I had to be able to tell the story the way I wanted.”
Taylor-Johnson and casting director Nina Gold opted for Marisa Abela to take on the role of Amy and the former knew instantaneously that she was the right choice for the part.
She recalled: “I saw Marisa look up and look into the lens, and I literally just took a breath and sat back. She hadn’t even said anything. And I thought, ‘It’s her.’ I just knew.
“I felt people would believe her.”
Marisa spent countless hours in singing lessons to perfect Amy’s distinctive vocals and says it would have been “disappointing” had she not given musical performances in the film.
The 27-year-old actress said: “The story we’re telling is through this music.
“So it would feel disappointing to do all of the emotional work for a scene and then get to the singing and open my mouth and cut to a track that has an emotional disconnect because it is recorded in the studio.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie is producing a new ‘Monopoly’ movie.
The ‘Barbie’ star’s LuckyChap Entertainment company and her partners Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara will produce the live-action pictures based on the popular board game.
Monopoly’s backers Hasbro Entertainment are also producing the Lionsgate film – which has been in development for more than a decade.
It is hoped that Margot and LuckyChap will be able to replicate the billion-dollar box office success of ‘Barbie’ with the ‘Monopoly’ picture, although it remains to be seen how they will form a narrative story related to the property-acquiring board game.
Lionsgate movie boss Adam Fogelson suggested that LuckyChap has a “clear point of view” on the flick but did not offer any further details.
He said at CinemaCon: “I could not imagine a better production team for this beloved and iconic brand than LuckyChap.
“They are exceptional producers who choose their projects with great thought and care, and join ‘Monopoly’ with a clear point of view. We are tremendously excited to be working with the entire LuckyChap team on what we all believe can be their next blockbuster.”
The production company’s previous movies include ‘I, Tonya’ and ‘Promising Young Woman’ and the team expressed excitement about working on the ‘Monopoly’ picture.
LuckyChap said: “‘Monopoly’ is a top property – pun fully intended.
“Like all of the best IP, this game has resonated worldwide for generations, and we are so excited to bring this game to life alongside the wonderful teams involved at Lionsgate and Hasbro.”
Hasbro Entertainment’s head of film Zev Foreman added: “As one of the most iconic games in the world, ‘Monopoly’ provides an incredible platform for storytelling opportunities.
“We are thrilled to have the unique vision of LuckyChap and Lionsgate alongside us to bring this historic piece of popular culture to the big screen.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Len Goodman is be honoured with a statue.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘Dancing with the Stars’ legend – who died last year, aged 78, following a battle with cancer – looks set to get a permanent tribute in Dartford in Kent, South East England, the home of The Goodman Dance Academy.
There is a budget of £25,000 for the touching art that intends to be placed in the centre in a bid to attract people to the town.
His son James Goodman said: “My dad always had positives things to say about the area so it would be fitting to honour him in this way.”
A Dartford council spokesman told The Sun: “Having enriched so many lives, it’s important that a fitting tribute is created in Mr Goodman’s memory.
“We appreciate everything that he has done and hope that people will continue to be inspired upon seeing the tribute.”
Tributes poured out from his co-stars, including ‘Strictly’ host Claudia Winkleman, when the dancing hero passed away.
The 52-year-old presenter said on Twitter: “I’m so sad about Len. He was one of a kind, a brilliant and kind man. Full of twinkle, warmth and wit. Sending all love to his family and friends. X.”
Fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood, 59, wrote: “I’ve just woken up to the sad news that my gorgeous colleague and dear friend Len Goodman has passed away.
“My heart and love go out to his lovely Sue and family. Len Goody Goodman is what I always called him and ‘It’s a ten from Len seveeeeern’ will live with me forever. RIP Len. (sic)”
Former ‘Strictly’ pro Brendan Cole, 47, offered his own tribute, telling ‘This Morning’: “I think it’s sad for the entire nation and of course for his children and grandchildren. Obviously, he’s only just retired to spend more time with his grandchildren and we’ve sadly lost him.
“As a personality, Len was massive, not just as a TV judge but as a person. A lovely man, with a bite, which I love. It’s very sad. It’s a part of TV history, the ultimate judge, he knew exactly what to say.”

Glen Powell boards Edgar Wright’s The Running Man remake

OHMYGOSSIP — Glen Powell has been confirmed for Edgar Wright’s ‘The Running Man’ remake.
The 49-year-old director is working on a movie based on Stephen King’s 1982 novel of the same name and previously promised that his take will be more faithful to the story than the 1987 dystopian flick that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.
And now it’s been confirmed that the ‘Anyone But You’ star, 35, will play the leading role of Ben Richards in the Paramount flick, as announced at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week.
The novel’s plot is as follows: “In 2025, the world’s economy is in shambles and America has become a totalitarian dystopia. 28-year-old Ben Richards, an impoverished resident of the fictional Co-Op City, is unable to find work, having been blacklisted from his trade. His gravely ill daughter Cathy needs medicine, and his wife Sheila has resorted to prostitution to bring in money for the family. In desperation, Richards turns to the Games Network, a government-operated television station that runs violent game shows. After rigorous physical and mental testing, Richards is selected to appear on The Running Man, the Network’s most popular, lucrative, and dangerous program. He is interviewed by Dan Killian, the executive producer of the program, who describes the challenges he will face once the game begins.
“The contestant is declared an enemy of the state and released with a 12-hour head start before the Hunters, an elite team of Network-employed hitmen, are sent out to kill him.”
No release date is known yet, but it would be a nice touch to have it air in 2025.
‘Last Night in Soho’ filmmaker Edgar previously told the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast: “‘The Running Man’ is something that is in active development.
“Why is that interesting to me? It’s like, I like the film, but I like the book more, and they didn’t really adapt the book. Even as a teenager when I saw the Schwarzenegger film I was like, ‘Oh, this isn’t like the book at all!’ And I think, ‘Nobody’s done that book.'”
The ‘Hot Fuzz’ director felt that the picture was “crying out” for the big screen treatment and he jumped at the chance when approached by fellow filmmaker Simon Kinberg.
Edgar said: “So when that came up, I was thinking, and Simon Kinberg says, ‘Do you have any interest in ‘The Running Man?’ I said, ‘You know what?’ I’ve often thought that that book is something crying out to be adapted.’
“Now, that doesn’t mean that it’s easy! But it’s something that we are working on, yes. I’ll tell you that much.”

Susanna Reid tipped to host This Is Your Life reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Susanna Reid has been tipped as a frontrunner to host a new version of classic TV show ‘This Is Your Life’.
TV bosses are believed to be working on a reboot of the show – which gives celebrities a look back on their lives via a giant red book – and ‘Good Morning Britain’ star Susanna is said to be among the candidates being considered as the new host along with ‘Question Time’ presenter Fiona Bruce.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “There is a reason ‘This Is Your Life’ aired for so many years – as a format, it is perfect. It’s warm, entertaining and interesting plus is fairly affordable to make, which of course helps …
“It was always such an honour [for celebrities] to appear, bosses are confident a whole new generation of stars will embrace a surprise visit from the team.”
The insider went on to reveal talks are already underway to bring in a new host with the show slated to go into production later in 2024.
They added: “Discussions are underway with a number of potential hosts with a view to getting work underway later this year.
“A warm, professional interviewer like Susanna or Fiona are seen as the safe hands to steer the next generation of the show.”
‘This Is Your Life’ launched in 1955 with Eamonn Andrews at the helm. He hosted from 1955 until 1964, and then returned for a second stint from 1969 until his death in 1987.
Michael Aspel then took over and he hosted the show until it came off air in 2003.
Sir Trevor McDonald – who had previously been a celebrity featured on the show – brought the format back for a one-off special in 2007 with Simon Cowell as the special guest.
Other notable stars to have appeared on the series include Sir Christopher Lee, Omar Sharif, Frank Bruno, David Hasselhoff and Dame Barbara Windsor.

Peter Davison is now getting ‘smaller roles’ because of his age: ‘I’ve had my fair share of luck!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Davison is getting “smaller” roles now that he is older.
The 72-year-old actor is best known for playing the Fifth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’ during the early 1980s and while he has continued to be a regular face on screen ever since, he thinks it is unlikely that he would ever be chosen to replace Ralf Little as the lead in ‘Death In Paradise’ because of his age.
He told The Daily Star newspaper: “I’ve noticed the parts are smaller now. I still get offered a good deal of work, but I’m not in that bracket where the shows I do say,’…and Peter Davison’.
“I’m up for a challenge so I wouldn’t rule [‘Death in Paradise’] out. But the chances are they may go for someone a bit younger.”
Following his star turn as The Doctor, Peter starred in the leading role of black comedy medical series ‘A Very Peculiar Practice’ before going on to play the cheating husband of a woman who secretly wins the lottery in ‘At Home With the Braithwaites’ in the early 2000s and reflected that he has probably had “more than [his] fair share” of luck at this point.
He added: “Everybody needs a bit of luck in this business and I’ve probably had more than my fair share. I went through an amazing period when I did ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘A Very Practice’. And then things came back with ‘At Home’ and ‘The Last Peculiar Detective’ and then they went quiet again. And then recently I did ‘Life’.”
Peter – who has also carved out a successful theatrical career having starred in ‘Gyspy’ opposite Imelda Staunton and is due to appear alongside former ‘Wicked’ star Stephanie J. Block in a London revival ‘Kiss Me, Kate’ over the summer – will now be seen as the love interest of Barbara Flynn’s character on ‘Beyond Paradise’ but explained there may be a “disappointing” aspect with what is to come.
He said: “I suppose you have to hope they are disappointed … I think I said to the producer at one point, am I gonna get a chance to explain? I suppose it’s important that they are disappointed in a way because that’s the idea, isn’t it? Well the thing is, it is rather baffling – so there must be something behind it”

New Gary Glitter documentary to explore the double life of disgraced pop star

OHMYGOSSIP — A new feature-length documentary on disgraced pop star Gary Glitter that uncovers his double life is coming to ITV.
‘Glitter: The Popstar Paedophile’ – produced by Minnow Films – will examine how the glam rocker used his larger than life onstage persona to cover up his predatory offstage behaviour and attract young female fans who was able to abuse.
According to Broadcast magazine, the doc is being directed by Erica Gornall and is expected to air this Spring on ITV1 and ITVX.
The 79-year-old singer – whose real name is Paul Gadd – had been released from prison in February after serving eight years of a 16-year sentence for sexually abusing three schoolgirls, but he was sent back to jail after a breach of his licence conditions.
The ‘I’m the Leader of the Gang’ singer – who sold 18 million records and had three number ones – was first jailed in 1999 over child sex abuse pictures after taking his computer to PC World for repairs. He moved abroad but in 2002 was expelled from Cambodia amid child sex allegations. And in 2006 he was jailed in Vietnam for abusing two girls, aged 10 and 11.
Before his public fall from grace in 1997, Glitter had been one the country’s most beloved pop stars but since his unmasking as an abuser of young girls radio stations across the country have snubbed his songs.
Netflix and Amazon are also releasing documentaries on Glitter.
The Netflix doc will examine journalists’ hunt for Glitter, with the working title Hunting Gary Glitter.
ITN Productions was preparing a documentary about Glitter to be aired on Prime Video.

Marisha Wallace reveals what she thinks of her CBB housemate Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu after on-screen feud

OHMYGOSSIP — Marisha Wallace has cleared the air with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu following their ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ row.
The 38-year-old West End star took part in the revival series of the hit reality show last month alongside the former ‘Love Island’ winner but the pair came to blows over face-to-face nominations that left Ekin,29, in tears but now it would appear that they have buried the hatchet and are now “cool” with each other.
Marisha told MailOnline: “We actually spoke about it when it happened and she was like ‘We’re fine’ and actually when she was evicted we were holding each other’s hands.
“I don’t think people realise that, that we were still tight. I told her ‘When I’m going to leave I’m going to defend you’ because I feel like she’s been through a lot.
“She broke up with her boyfriend right before it and she was also going through a lot of things in her life.
“To go on a show like that when you’re going through a break-up? I don’t know how she did it, like you would be having all kinds of feelings.’
“She’s fine and yeah we’re cool. I’m cool with her.”
Meanwhile, the Olivier-nominated actress – who has starred in productions of ‘Waitress’ and ‘Guys and Dolls’ – also appeared alongside music manager Louis Walsh on the show and she admitted that she “taught him a lot” about musical theatre after he initially questioned her credibility as a celebrity.
He said: “I think I taught Louis a lot about the power of musical theatre but also the versatility of musical theatre because he asked me to sing for him all the time.”
‘It was amazing because when he was on This Morning and he was asked who his favourite housemate was, he said me.
I think being with someone who is different than you, and seeing their struggles and what they’ve gone through, that it changes your whole perception and Louis is actually very vulnerable. He sent me a text yesterday saying congratulations and he said ‘You’re a star!'”

Adele Roberts on how her cancer affected her family: ‘It’s not you alone!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele Roberts “felt very lonely” throughout her cancer battle.
The 45-year-old TV star was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2021 and underwent treatment for several months before being given the all-clear but admitted that even though she may have felt “alone”, the diagnosis affected her family.
Following her battle, Adele became the fastest woman to run the London Marathon with a stoma bag, finishing the race in 3:30:22 and broke a Guinness World Record in doing so but admitted she couldn’t have done it without the support of her long-term partner Kate.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she told stand-in host Christine Lampard: “Anybody who has been through cancer, it’s not you alone. It feels very lonely but it affects your family as well.
“Without Kate, I wouldn’t have been able to run that marathon. It still seems so strange to me that I was able to run a marathon!”
The former ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestant – who now lives with a stoma bag which she has named Audrey – has now put her story down on paper in her new memoir ‘Personal Best’ and is hoping that the tome is helpful to anyone who is going through anything difficult in life.
She said: “This is the book that I hoped I would have been able to read when I first got diagnosed. I was obviously very overwhelmed.
“One of the things I did when I first heard the news was just go onto the Internet and see so many accounts from people on Instagram and forums just sharing their story no matter what they were going through, even if their cancer was terminal. That helped me so much and it did give me hope. I thought ‘If I make it through this, I want to make sure that I write it all down and get my head together, do a book.’ And there it is. I’m just so proud of it.”
“I think when I look back through my life, there was lots of times that I’ve been through things but they weren’t necessarily cancer so I put a lot of those instances in because I understand that not everyone is going through something cancer, but it feels just the same. It could be like losing your home or splitting up with a partner or just general disappointment of life. I just hope it can help anybody who might want to pick it up and read it.”

Keke Palmer in talks for Gods Unknown part

OHMYGOSSIP — Keke Palmer is in talks to star in ‘Gods Unknown’.
The 30-year-old actress appears set to join the cast of the action thriller from director Stefano Sollima.
The film takes place in Central Africa as a political-religious movement, spearheaded by a warlord who is rumoured to have supernatural powers, gains momentum.
A sceptical CIA dispatches an analyst and a squad of elite special ops personnel to establish the truth about the enigmatic leader and their followers.
Keke will play the role of Kate Vance, an agent with the CIA’s political action group.
Andrew Barrer and Gabe Ferrari have penned the script for the new movie.
Meanwhile, Keke had to deny plans that she was going to retire after she hinted earlier this year that she could quit showbiz sooner rather than later – although she later explained that she merely wished to explore other avenues of her career before stepping back.
The ‘Nope’ actress said: “People took that literally, but I was thinking in like 20 years! But also, what I will say is I meant a different type of ‘slowing down.’ I think there’s a version of me that really wants to do more producing, that really wants to do more directing, that wants to do even more work, not only in front of the camera.”
Palmer – who rose to fame as a teenager when she featured in the Nickelodeon series ‘True Jackson, VP’ – said that even when she does opt to “slow down”, she will remain in the entertainment industry in some form.
She said: “I’ll be still doing stuff, but I don’t know if I’m going to always want to be doing three movies a year. That’s amazing. Thank god I am doing that. But I don’t know if I always want to be doing it at that level or that way.”

Damien Chazelle set to direct prison film for Paramount

OHMYGOSSIP — Damien Chazelle is to direct a new movie for Paramount Pictures.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker will helm his first film since signing an overall deal with the studio.
Plot details are yet to be disclosed but sources say that Chazelle will direct the untitled picture based on an original script he has written. It is thought that the story will be set in a prison.
The ‘La La Land’ director will produce along with his partner Olivia Hamilton for their Wild Chickens banner.
It is not clear when the project will head into production as no cast members are currently attached but sources have stated that Chazelle and Paramount bosses are expected to hold meetings with A-list talent for a flick that is likely to attract a long list of famous faces.
Damien, 39, signed a deal with Paramount at the end of 2022 after working with the studio on his flick ‘Babylon’ – which bombed at the box office despite boasting a cast including Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt.
The filmmaker acknowledged that the failure of the period movie is likely to impact the amount of funding he gets for future films.
Speaking on the ‘Talking Pictures’ podcast, he said: “Certainly, in financial terms, ‘Babylon’ didn’t work at all. You try to not have that effect what you’re doing creatively, but, at some level, it can’t help but affect it. But maybe that’s OK?
“I have a very mixed mind about it. Who knows. Maybe I won’t be able to get this one made. I have no idea. We’ll have to wait and see.
“I’ve been head in the sand. I’ve been sort of busy writing. So I’ll get a real taste of how it’s changed or not [since ‘Babylon’] once I get to finish this script and try to actually get it made.
“I’m in a sort of trepidatious state of mind, but I have no illusions. I won’t get a budget of ‘Babylon’ size any time soon, or at least not on this next one.”

Classic 1980s series Bergerace to be ‘reimagined’ for modern audience

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Bergerac’ is being reimagined for a “modern-day” audience.
The classic mystery series starred John Nettles in the title role of detective Jim Bergerac and ran on the BBC from 1981 until 1991 but now screenwriter Tony Parsons is determined to “respect the original work” of creator Robert Banks Stewart when his version premieres on UKTV Play at some point in 2025.
He said: “It’s a rare honour to bring back a show as beloved and iconic as ‘Bergerac’. Our mission was always to respect the show’s history and legacy, while making it impactful and relevant for a modern-day audience.
“We’ll be bringing back other beloved supporting characters, as well as introducing new friends and foes. Just like his predecessor, our Bergerac is complex, driven, brilliant and flawed.”
Casting is yet to be announced for the revival series and filming will take place this summer, with bosses noting that there is a “keen appetite” for original British dramas following the success of ‘The Marlow Murder Club’ earlier this year.
Commissioner Hilary Rosen said: “We are delighted to be working with BlackLight TV and Banijay on this re-imagining of a much-loved classic British drama. There is a keen appetite for UKTV Original dramas, as seen by the stellar performance of ‘The Marlow Murder Club’, and Bergerac will help us to build off the back of such a successful start to our commissioning journey for Drama and UKTV Play.”
Head of Digital Content Paula Fitzgerald added: “It’s an incredibly exciting time for UKTV Play, as we gear up for the launch of our masterbrand ‘U’ in the summer. Drama content is a key driver for audiences of our free streaming service, so I can’t wait to add this brilliant new series to our content offering.”
