Johnny Depp tried to talk Maiwenn out of casting him in Jeanne du Barry

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Depp attempted to talk director Maiwenn out of casting him as French King Louis XV in ‘Jeanne du Barry’.
The 60-year-old actor admitted to feeling “strangely, oddly, perversely lucky” at being offered the chance to play royalty in his first major film role since his high-profile defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard concluded.
Speaking at the movie’s UK premiere on Monday (15.04.24), Johnny said: “I feel very lucky to have been (offered the role) – strangely, oddly, perversely lucky.
“Because when Maiwenn and I first actually met and talked about the notion of me doing the film and playing Louis XV, the King of France – see that’s when instantly what happens in your brain is you instantly go back to Kentucky, where, like, everything is fried.
“So you realise that you’ve come from the bellybutton of nowhere and suddenly you end up playing the King of France.”
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor added: “It made no sense to me. I tried to talk her out of it. But she wasn’t hearing it and she had great courage to take me into her cast.
“Whatever we did, whatever we experienced I think and I hope you’ll find it was well worth the agony of this kid trying to make a film for that length of time.”
Maiwenn both directs and stars as the titular character in the film, which tells the story of how working-class Jeanne du Barry climbed the social hierarchy in France to attract the attention of Louis XV.
She explained how she had been desperate to make the movie for a number of years as she was fixated on how Jeanne became “a feminist before everybody else”.
The 47-year-old actress said: “It’s a movie that I have wanted to make since 2016, and I was obsessed by Jeanne du Barry for many years because she was a feminist before everybody else.”

Geena Davis confirms absence from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

OHMYGOSSIP — Geena Davis has confirmed that she won’t be in ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’.
The 68-year-old actress starred as ghost Barbara Maitland in Tim Burton’s 1988 movie but explained that she will not be featuring in the impending sequel even though the spirits “don’t age”.
Geena told Entertainment Tonight: “No, I’m not. I’m not in the remake. Oh, you were expecting that I would be? Yeah, no, you know what? Because my theory is that ghosts don’t age… Not that I have.”
The ‘Thelma and Louise’ star, who featured in the film alongside Alec Baldwin’s Adam Maitland, added: “Our characters were stuck the way they looked when they died forever, so it’s been a while, it’s been a minute.”
Geena revealed that she still needs to watch the first trailer for the long-awaited sequel that is being released in cinemas in September.
She said: “Somebody said they were crying, so I have to see the trailer.”
Michael Keaton is back as the titular ‘ghost with the most’ in the movie and has promised fans that it will be “great” after getting to see an early cut of the finished flick.
Speaking on SiriusXM’s ‘The Jess Cagle Show’, he said: “[The movie] is beautiful, physically. The other one was so fun and exciting visually, it’s all that but really beautiful and interestingly emotional here and there. I wasn’t ready for that. It’s great.
“It’s just so fun and I’ve seen it now. I’m going to see it again after a couple of little tweaks in the editing room, and I confidently say this thing is great.”
Before shooting the sequel, Michael revealed that he had fun revisiting the original picture once again.
The 72-year-old star said: “I probably only really seen it from the beginning once or twice maybe. So I hadn’t seen it for a long, long, long time so I did go back and look at it again.”

Helen Lederer calls for Coronation Street love scene

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Lederer hopes she gets some bedroom scenes on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 69-year-old actress has joined the soap in a guest role as Elspeth, the latest love interest for lothario Ken Barlow – who is played by 91-year-old actor Bill Roache – and she thinks it is important for the show to depict “older love” on screen.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “We do need to see the upstairs. It is about time there was some older love on Corrie.”
Ken meets Elspeth at a singles cocktail night and things soon turn romantic, and while Helen explained her character is “bold” about what she wants, she reassured fans she won’t be taking things too far.
She said: “I am a woman who is bold and who has needs and I am just going to go for them. I am not going to kill him off in the bedroom. I just want a nice snuggle.”
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ actress admitted she always knew she would “drop everything” if a role in ‘Corrie’ came along, whatever the part.
She said: “‘Coronation Street’, of all the soaps, is the most substantial and ironic with such humour, it’s really a class act. So when you get the call for ‘Coronation Street’, you drop everything.
“To be offered a part playing a role opposite William Roache is even more exciting.”
“I had met him once before and I thought what a lovely man he was.”
The ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ actress recently revealed she was once paid £70,000 for less than two days work on a commercial.
She told The Daily Telegraph newspaper: “By the 80s, I was working a lot on TV and then I landed two adverts: one for Advocaat, the other for Finish dishwasher tablets – and they paid ridiculously well. I was paid £70,000 for a day- and-a-half’s work and that was 20 years ago – one day to say the lines, half-a-day to show my hand inserting the tablet. ”

Stephanie Waring was ‘distraught’ over Hollyoaks axe

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Waring was “distraught” and “cried uncontrollably” when she found out she was being axed from ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 46-year-old actress has been involved with the show for almost 30 years since making her debut as Cindy Cunningham back in 1996 but she recently found out she’s among the stars being given the boot as part of a cast reduction strategy – and she’s admitted the news left her inconsolable.
She told The Sun newspaper: “In the meeting they read from a script and a tear fell from my eye because I could just feel it in the room.
“They got to the end and said: ‘And with that, we will be losing Cindy from the show’. I just kept saying: ‘I don’t understand’. I was very distraught, I didn’t take it well – I was probably the most dramatic person they told.
“I just kept telling them ‘I’m an original character’. I was clutching at anything – telling them ‘but I was the first person to give birth on the show!’ I could see the distress I was causing them because they were upset that I was so upset.”
She added of her reaction: “I just left and cried uncontrollably. I went into make-up and I fell into two of my co-star’s arms who held me as I sobbed until I calmed down a bit.
“I drove home to my fiancé [Tom Brookes] and cried in his arms for the rest of the night. I was in total disbelief.”
Stephanie went on to reveal she ended up taking a week off work so she could process the news in private, admitting ‘Hollyoaks’ bosses were very supportive during the tough time.
The actress later broke the news of her exit in a candid post on Instagram, writing: “I can’t believe I am writing this and I have taken the last two weeks to process and come to terms with the shock of what I am about to say.
“I am heartbroken to announce that my character of Cindy has been included in the actors reduction of Hollyoaks.
“As an actress obviously I understand there are no jobs for life but with my 28 years on the show I hoped that Cindy would survive the exciting revamp and continue into its new era, especially as I began playing her in 1996, making me the only original cast member remaining to be included in the cast cull, which I can only describe as gutting.
“I was given the chance to say I had chosen to quit the show to spare me any embarrassment of revealing that I’ve been axed, which was very kind but I don’t want to lie to the fans who have followed Cindy’s journey for nearly 3 decades as I believe they know she nor I would ever have left the show by choice, Hollyoaks is in my blood and I have loved every minute of walking in Cindy’s heels.
“I would like to add that I totally understand all shows evolve, so whilst I cannot hide my devastation I can only express my gratitude for my time on the show and respect the producers decision with no anger just sadness. (sic)”
She added: “On a personal note, whilst I currently can’t imagine a life away from my ‘Hollyoaks’ family or being Cindy, who will always remain a part of me, I know that on my last day I’ll walk out with my head held high, even if my mascara is still running! (sic)”
Her exit is part of a massive shake-up on the soap which has led to 20 castmembers being given the boot, episodes being cut from five away to three and the show being moved from its longtime home on Channel 4 to E4 and YouTube.

Michael Douglas asked to be killed off in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Douglas begged for a “serious” death in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’.
The 79-year-old actor admitted last year he would only return for a fourth movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise if his alter ego Hank Pym was to be killed off, and he’s now revealed he actually asked for a special effects-laden demise in last year’s installment, which was a box office flop.
Speaking on ‘The View’, he said: “[Getting killed off] actually was my request for the third one,” Douglas said. “I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects.
“There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is. I want to use all those effects.”
And while Michael didn’t get his wish, he’s unlikely to return as Hank – who also had a brief appearance in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ – for another movie.
He added: “But, that was on the last one. Now, I don’t think I’m going to show up [for a fourth].”
The veteran actor admitted last year he still had to “ask quietly” about certain topics in the MCU.
He told Digital Spy: “On the first one I knew nothing. I was not a comic book addict when I was a kid.
“I didn’t know the Marvel world, so they sent me a whole slew of the comics to get some idea.
“I didn’t have any idea about [the universe] and even now I still have to ask quietly because I don’t want to be an idiot. Now it’s getting very complicated because Kang, our ultimate villain in ‘Ant-Man: Quantumania’, is going to be in a lot of the different Marvel films.”
The ‘Franklin’ actor had also never done green screen before making his Marvel debut but finds it much easier now.
He said: “What’s unique here is you don’t see the material until you’re almost arriving for your rehearsals and this is the Marvel System or the Marvel Way. So you’re a little at loose ends.
“Everything’s a little easier after the first one because I’d never done a green screen movie before and now you have a little idea of what’s going to happen.”

Chris Hemsworth failed to persuade Kevin Costner to hand over movie role

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hemsworth spent an hour on the phone to Kevin Costner in a bid to convince him to hand over a movie part he really wanted.
The 40-year-old ‘Thor’ star has confessed he fell in love with a role in a film which Costner plans to direct and star in, so he attempted to persuade the veteran screen star to cast him instead – but his mission failed and Costner decided to keep the part for himself.
Hemsworth told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “There was a movie, a script that I’d read and loved and was like, ‘I want to get that,’ and then someone said, ‘Kevin Costner has that [role]’.
“I’d love [to have] him as a director. I was like, ‘Goddamnit!’ [I spent] an hour the other day trying to convince him, and he was like, ‘I’m doing it, kid.’ Didn’t work. I didn’t get the part.”
Hemsworth went on to insist playing a “horse wrangler” was perfect for him. He added: “My wife read [the script] and loves horses. We have 10 or 11 horses back home, and so she’s like, ‘You’ve got to do this’.”
However, Costner, 69, is adamant he wants to do it himself while he’s still “young enough” to play the role.
He told the outlet: “It’s a love story, but as long as I’m still young enough to play it, I’ll play it. Chris will have to wait his turn. [Hemsworth is] so handsome, and he’s so good.
“He’s going to have to go find his [own] love story. [But] I’m glad he likes this one. If I reach a moment where I [don’t] think I could do that, I would [reach out]. He’s certainly one of our great leading men right now.”
No further details about the film have been revealed, but it’s not believed to be a part of Costner’s epic Western film ‘Horizon’.
He has already filmed the first two parts of ‘Horizon’, which land in cinemas in July and August, and he plans to make two more movies in the series if the first two are a success.

Footie legend Paul Gascoigne wanted for Celebrity Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ bosses are reportedly eager to sign up football legend Paul Gascoigne for the second series.
After splashing the cash on Sharon Osbourne – who is said to have landed a whopping £100,000 a day for her eight-day stint – for the first season of the rebooted ITV reality show, they see the 56-year-old retired England player as a “top priority” for 2025, whilst they are also eyeing a secret British pop star.
A source told The Sun: “Bosses are full steam ahead planning this autumn’s civilian series but there’s also one eye on 2025’s celebrity series because the best names get booked up.
“It’s super-early days but names are being discussed, and candidates sounded out.
“Gazza is considered a top priority after the brilliant reception he received on Channel 4 reality show Scared Of The Dark last year, whether it be for this series or one down the line.
“But bosses are also talking to a British pop star who’s had hits worldwide.
“They’re a big name, instantly known and will surprise people.
“They know everyone was wowed by the inclusion of Sharon and Louis for series one and know they need big-hitters for season two.
“Everyone is really chuffed with how series one went but the intention is for two to be bigger, bolder and better than ever to keep the ball rolling.”
Former ‘Ibiza Weekender’ star David Potts, 30, won the first series, which also featured the likes of Louis Walsh, Fern Britton, Zeze Millz, Nikita Kuzmin, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Colson Smith.
It show is co-hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best.
Gascoigne won Channel 4 reality show ‘Scared Of The Dark’, which saw celebrities live in complete darkness for eight days, last year.
In a nod to Big Brother’s ‘Diary Room’, the celebrities could chat to a camera in a dimly lit room called ‘The Vault’.

Peter Dinklage to voice Dr. Dillamond in Wicked movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Dinklage is set to voice Dr. Dillamond in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of ‘Wicked’.
Jim Orr, Universal Pictures President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution, shared the news about the 54-year-old ‘Game of Thrones’ star’s casting during the studio’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas on Wednesday (10.04.24).
Dillamond is a goat professor at Shiz University and a mentor to protagonist Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), who sings the song ‘Something Bad’ to warn her dark forces threatening the speaking animals of the Land of Oz.
In the original Broadway musical in 2003, William Youmans had the part.
Ariana Grande, 30, joins Cynthia as Glinda (The Good Witch) in the two-part adaptation, which tells the backstory of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and how the Wicked Witch of the West came to be.
The films are helmed by John M. Chu and the first part is set for release on November 27, 2024, with the second part to follow a year later on November 26, 2025.
Cynthia has promised that the movies will differ from the stage show.
The 37-year-old actress explained how it will offer audiences the chance to make a deeper connection with the characters.
She told Collider: “I don’t know that you can compare them. It’s like apples to oranges. The show is its own thing. The show is its own legend. I think this film is both an homage to the show and the book.
“We also get to create something really new and slightly different to what you’d be used to seeing. We’re lucky, in that we have the space to really fill the world and to really fill these characters.”
The ‘Luther: The Fallen Sun’ actress added: “You’ll be able to get into the psyche of these women. You’ll get to know them more. You will live with them a lot more, and you’ll live with them a lot longer. I think it’s really special that we get to reintroduce these two women to you, in a slightly different way.”
Cynthia pointed out that the movie offers an insight into the relationship between Elphaba and Glinda.
She said: “You get to see their hearts a little bit more. And you realise that these two women are actually really alike. Yes, they’re very different. But actually, at their very core, they’re two very similar beings who have almost the same wants, but have very different ways of getting to them.”
She also teased it will feature new musical numbers alongside classics such as ‘Defying Gravity’.
She said: “I cannot tell you that. I cannot possibly tell you that. But I think you’ll be pleasantly pleased.”

Kit Harington reveals why he wanted to star in Blood For Dust

OHMYGOSSIP — Kit Harington wanted to do ‘Blood For Dust’ because of the action scenes.
The 37-year-old actor is starring in the new thriller – which follows a new salesman who finds himself on a dangerous path after a chance encounter with a colleague who has a dark past – and liked being able to go out to Montana to fire guns as part of the film.
He told ScreenRant: “Well, I hadn’t done a lot of gun stuff prior to this. I like action scenes, and this seemed to have them. That was a big pull. I did go, which you don’t have the opportunity to in the UK, I went to a range out in Montana to fire some guns so I knew what I was doing because it’s not something in my background I have and did a bit of my homework there.
“But one thing that I was quite clear or keen on is that it shouldn’t feel in any way glorifying, and I don’t think this movie does. I think we were very careful how we shot some of those scenes. If anything, it was Ricky flashing his gun, feeling like a man, but we could see that it was a cover for everything and he should never look too cool with the gun. He looks like a guy that loves guns, but not a guy who looks effortlessly cool with it.”
The former ‘Game of Thrones’ star also explained that the action scenes “ran like clockwork” on set because of intense rehearsals.
He said: “When we got to the big action sequences at the end, it ran like clockwork because he had rehearsed it and rehearsed it and rehearsed it with stuntmen beforehand and knew exactly what his shots were going to be. I just really like working with people like that.”

Charlie Clapham reveals why now is the right time to return to Hollyoaks

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Clapham has had “a lot of fun” since returning to ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 32-year-old actor has gone back to his role as Freddie Roscoe in the Channel 4 soap opera and admitted that shooting scenes has been a bit of a “rollercoaster” but is glad to see the soap opera at its “best”.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “There’s a lot going on isn’t there. It’s been great, it’s been a lot of fun. It has been a bit of a rollercoaster as well. I feel like every week there’s a new announcement, someone is leaving or someone is joining.
“It’s a very eventful period of time to be coming back to the show, but it definitely feels like for me the timing is right for a return, and I am exactly where I’m meant to be.
“To see Hollyoaks at its glorious best.
“It’s gonna be heightened, it’s gonna be dramatic, it’s gonna be completely surreal at times, but it’s worth watching right now. Each week could be its own movie, each character coming to life in such a beautiful way and I believe now is the time to get in.”
The TV star teased that there is “no telling” where things could go for his character and is impressed with the soap opera’s recent decision to move to three episodes a week.
He said: “Strap yourself in for the ride, because it’s gonna be one hell of a rollercoaster. You have no telling where it’s gonna go and I think it could be Golden Era 2.0 loaded!” It comes as Executive Producer Hannah Cheers said of the time jump: “When we started talking about the move to three episodes a week, we realised we needed a mechanism through which to transition our stories and characters and we kept coming back to this one.
“It’s bold, daring and is a first for a UK soap; it sums Hollyoaks up perfectly. The new three episode pattern offers us a different model of storytelling, which means we’ll see characters on screen for much longer. Our viewers are really smart; in order to serve them well we need to kick off this new structure in a meaningful way.”

Jedward want their own chat show: ‘We could be like Graham Norton’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jedward want their own chat show.
The pop duo – which consists of 32-year-old twins John and Edward Grimes – shot to fame as a novelty act on ‘The X Factor’ in 2009 but after almost 15 years in the industry, they are keen to host their own television in a similar vein to ‘The Graham Norton Show’ on the BBC.
Jedward told Metro newspaper’s Sixty Seconds column: “We’re setting up a podcast and we’re putting together a team that will see our vision. We’d love to work towards getting a talk show like Graham Norton as we have a great connection with people and want to bring out the best of everyone.”
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ stars have enjoyed huge success in the industry since they entered the public eye and reflected that despite the “major pressure” they felt some years ago, they have now become more “comfortable” in themselves.
They added: “We had major pressure put on us to be a certain way, pop artists of the early 2010s. It was the Lady Gaga era so everything had to be larger
than life. We found ourselves in
situations that weren’t acceptable but at the time we weren’t aware of how things should have been.
“Now we’re more comfortable in ourselves and we’re working on things we want to do. We have a great relationship with our fans and want to keep moving forward in life, personally and
professionally.
“We aren’t afraid to give a voice to those who have been silenced or need our support.”

Adrian Edmondson reflects on losing co-star Rik Mayall 10 years on from his death

OHMYGOSSIP — Adrian Edmonson still finds it “really weird” that Rik Mayall is no longer here.
The 67-year-old star shot to fame alongside his fellow comedian – who died in 2014 at the age of 56 after suffering a heart attack – as part of a double act in the early 1980s and admitted upon the 10th anniversary of his friend’s passing that it is strange to think that he never knew about major world events.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It’s really weird being in a world without him. Very weird thinking he didn’t know anything about Brexit and about Covid. I mean our relationship was strained towards the end. When I do things like this, I remember the absolute joy of sitting in that little office in Richmond [writing]. It was absolute distilled joy, the most joy I have ever had in my life, making each other laugh, properly laugh. It’s very rare you get a relationship like that.
“It’s been 10 years now nearly, since he died. It was a very shocking thing. An absolute genuine surprise because he was fairly fit. He had stopped drinking for several years. It was weird to have a heart attack when you’re not really heart attack material. We used to write each other’s characters more than people imagine. As Ade I was in love with Richie and Rik was in love with Eddie.”
The comedian wrote and starred in ‘Bottom’ alongside Rik and reflected that their characters were “alter-egos” of themselves as he recalled having “so much fun” creating the sitcom with his late co-star.
He said: “I think that love shows. They are like alter-egos of each other. Eddie is my alter-ego. I mean properly. We’re quite similar and Rik’s quite similar to Richie so it’s about our love for each other.
“I remember mostly the joy we had in the writing room. That’s the funniest place I’ve ever been. We laughed harder in that room than I’ve ever laughed before or since. It was an absolutely joyous experience. It was a real kind of communion

Caroline Flack’s mum determined to uncover ‘the truth’ of daughter’s arrest before her death

OHMYGOSSIP — Caroline Flack’s mother is determined to discover “the truth” of her daughter’s arrest after something “very unusual happened” to her at the police station.
The former ‘Love Island’ presenter was found dead at her London home in February 2020 at the age of 40 having taken her own life after she was charged with assaulting her then-boyfriend Lewis Burton.
Now, Caroline’s mother Christine has insisted she will work non-stop to see justice for her daughter after the Met Police successfully appealed her case, which found her guilty of assault.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “We won’t stop until we get the truth.”
After the initial ruling that gave Caroline a caution, it was said that an officer who was present at her arrest in 2019 did not give evidence for initial reviews into police conduct when he left the force.
The Met apologised to the Flack family last year after admitted officers did not record why they had appealed against the CPS’s decision not to charge Caroline for allegedly assaulting Lewis.
Now, Christine thinks something “very unusual” happened to her daughter on the night of her arrest.
She explained: “Something very unusual happened to Carrie at the police station that night, but no one kept a proper record explaining why.
“I have now made a complaint to compel the officer to give the statement we think he should have given four years ago. As a family, we have been left with important unanswered questions.”
Christine then revealed she has been begging Met Commissioner Mark Rowley for a meeting about the issue, though has not been successful yet.
She said: “He has refused to speak to me. Now it’s time the Met gave us full disclosure.”
As Christine continues to seek the truth into what happened to the fomer ‘X Factor’ presenter at the police station, a spokesperson for the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) told the BBC it has urged the Met to re-open their investigation into Caroline’s case, which it has since agreed to.
They told the publisher: “On the basis there may be new witness evidence available, we returned one aspect of the complaint back to the Met to investigate.”

Nia DaCosta is set to direct second movie in 28 Years Later trilogy

OHMYGOSSIP — Nia DaCosta is in talks to direct the second movie in the new ’28 Years Later’ trilogy.
The 34-year-old filmmaker is set to helm the second installment of the Sony Pictures trilogy in the franchise that started back in 2002 with Danny Boyle’s movie ’28 Days Later’.
Nia is familiar with the horror genre as she helmed the 2021 movie ‘Candyman’ – a sequel to the 1992 film of the same name – which starred Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris and Colman Domingo.
Boyle will helm the opening film in the new trilogy with original writer Alex Garland returning to pen the script.
’28 Days Later’ saw Cillian Murphy play a coma patient who wakes up alone in hospital and finds out that the world has been taken over by the undead after the release of a highly contagious virus 28 days beforehand.
The picture proved popular and was followed by the sequel ’28 Weeks Later’ in 2007, although Boyle and Garland were only involved as executive producers on that film.
Cillian recently revealed that he would “love” to make a follow-up to the iconic post-apocalyptic horror flick – after he did not feature in ’28 Weeks Later’.
The ‘Oppenheimer’ star told RSVP magazine: “Oh certainly for me. I mean, I’d love to. But that’s not an exclusive or anything.
“There needs to be a script and Danny [Boyle] needs to find the time and Alex [Garland] needs to feel that there’s more story to tell.
“But, again, that is a movie I watched with my kids not too long ago, and I feel that one – it’s aged well.
“Or not aged at all, whatever the correct experience is.”

Ice Spice to make acting bow with High and Low cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Ice Spice will make her acting debut in ‘High and Low’.
The ‘Barbie World’ rapper is set to make a cameo appearance in Spike Lee’s English-language adaptation of Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime thriller of the same name that will star Denzel Washington, Jeffrey Wright and Ilfenesh Hadera.
A24 posted a photo to the social media site X (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday (10.04.24) of Lee and Washington with the caption: “No. 5 now in production.”
‘High and Low’ marks the fifth collaboration between actor and filmmaker as they previously worked on the projects ‘Inside Man’, ‘He Got Game’, ‘Malcolm X’ and ‘Mo’ Better Blues’.
The original ‘High and Low’ was loosely based on the 1959 novel ‘King’s Ransom’, written by Evan Hunter under the pen name Ed McBain, and tells the story of a shoe company executive who falls victim to extortion when his chauffeur’s son is kidnapped and held for ransom.
It is not yet clear if Lee’s movie will follow the original storyline.
Ice – whose real name is Isis Gaston – received four Grammy nominations at the ceremony in February and has collaborated with artists such as Taylor Swift as she prepares to release her debut album ‘Y2K’ later this year.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old star revealed that she is open to tips and suggestions about her music.
Ice told the Guardian newspaper: “A lot of people try to encourage me to do certain sounds or try to be like: ‘Oh, you got to sample this,’ and I take everything with a grain of salt.
“In the beginning, I used to be like: ‘Why is everybody trying to tell me what to do?’ But then I started to realise, like, everybody just wants to be part of something and contribute to something – so now I just appreciate it.”

“Simon has teased me to death about it. I didn’t even watch ‘Strictly’ – I don’t watch shows that have a judging panel because I don’t want to be influenced by another judge. I just want to do my own thing.
“But I had the best time. It’s a proper variety show and the range of talent is incredible.”
