Quentin Tarantino ‘scraps The Movie Critic’ as his final film

OHMYGOSSIP — Quentin Tarantino has reportedly dropped ‘The Movie Critic’ as his 10th and final project.
The iconic filmmaker was set to reunite with Brad Pitt – who won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his work in the director’s 2019 film ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ and also starred in his movie ‘Inglourious Basterds’ a decade earlier – a third time, but now those plans have been scrapped.
According to Deadline, Tarantino has “simply changed his mind” after delaying production to rewrite the script.
Now, he’s expected to go back to the drawing board in a bid to find a firm idea for what will be his final film.
The 60-year-old filmmaker – who has repeatedly vowed to retire after making his 10th movie – previously revealed the project would have centred on a film critic from the 1970s who “used to write movie reviews for a porno rag”.
He told Deadline in May 2023: “He wrote about mainstream movies and he was the second-string critic.
“I think he was a very good critic. He was as cynical as hell. His reviews were a cross between early Howard Stern and what Travis Bickle [Robert DeNiro’s character in ‘Taxi Driver’] might be if he were a film critic.
“He wrote like he was 55 but he was only in his early to mid-30s. He died in his late thirties. It wasn’t clear for a while but now I’ve done some more research and I think it was it was complications due to alcoholism.”
While it was believed Pitt would have played the lead role in the movie, Tarantino has previously claimed he would find a new leading man as the ‘Bullet Train’ star and Leonardo DiCaprio, another of his frequent collaborators, were too old for the part.
He explained: “I haven’t decided yet but it’s going to be somebody in the 35-year-old ball park. It’ll definitely be a new leading man for me.
“I do have an idea of somebody I can imagine doing it really well.”

Rosie Marcel shares why she is ‘really grateful’ for Holby City axing

OHMYGOSSIP — Rosie Marcel is “really grateful” that she was axed from ‘Holby City’.
The 46-year-old actress – who has nine-year-old daughter Beau with her husband Ben Stacey – had played consultant Jac Naylor in the BBC medical drama for 17 years when her character was killed off during the series’ last ever episode in March 2022 and admitted that she has since got to know her family so much better than before.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I don’t think I became a mother until I left ‘Holby City’. I don’t think I really knew who I was, and I don’t think I really knew who my daughter was, until I was axed. My husband Ben [Stacey] did it all. I left the house first thing and was back really late. My character was incredibly popular so I was there all the time. It was very rare that I got time off.
“[So] I’m actually really grateful for it, because I probably would have stayed and I would have missed more.
“I really love my daughter and I love her company and I realise what I’ve missed out on. Motherhood is far more rewarding than acting, so it would have to be something incredibly worthy to take me away from this.”
At Christmas, Ben collapsed and suffered a pulmonary embolism which forced Rosie into becoming a real-life medic in the fight to save his life but is now “very grateful” that he pulled through and is still with her.
“It settled in the bottom of his lung and he got very sick. We went to hospital and they gave him blood thinners and sent him home. In the night his lung collapsed. And we had to call an ambulance, because it was putting enormous strain on his heart. We’re lucky to have him. 70% of people die from what he had, so I’m very grateful that he’s still with us. I’m so glad that I wasn’t working, as it meant I was able to look after him. It was a good six weeks before he was able to go back to work.”

Freddie Flintoff ‘reveals BBC future with new series of popular show’

OHMYGOSSIP — Freddie Flintoff has reportedly signed up for a third series of ‘Field of Dreams’.
The 46-year-old actor has already announced a second innings of his BBC cricket documentary, which will mark his first TV project since suffering horrific injuries in a terrifying car crash while filming ‘Top Gear’ in 2022.
As reported by The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column, Freddie has already agreed to front another series.
An insider said: “This shows that Freddie isn’t just happy to return to the show, which is very close to his heart, but also that he’s quite happy to continue working long-term on programmes for the Beeb.”
Meanwhile, it’s believed that the former cricketer is open to “other projects” being pitched by the broadcaster, although he’s not rushing into any decisions.
The source added: “It’s understood that, in addition to making the third series, he’s also considering a string of other projects they have offered him, but he’s taking his time and considering them all carefully.”
‘Field of Dreams’ sees the former England captain attempting to turn a group of teenagers from his hometown of Preston into a competitive cricket team.
Freddie stepped away from the spotlight after sustaining facial injuries and broken ribs in the crash which ultimately led to ‘Top Gear’ being shelved.
It was reported last month that Freddie was taking “nervous first steps” back into TV as he filmed for ‘Field of Dreams’.
Meanwhile, his former ‘Top Gear’ co-hosts Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris are set to reunite for the new series ‘Chris + Paddy: Roadtrip’ , that will see the pair travelling around Europe.
However, BBC bosses don’t see the programme as a continuation of the iconic car show.
An insider told The Sun: “This is a brand new travelogue show for Paddy and Chris. The duo will travel across Europe, using various modes of transport, visiting people to find the secrets to wellness and happiness — no stunts, no car reviews.”

Idris Elba explains the success of the Sonic movies franchise: ‘People just want more from it!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba thinks the ‘Sonic’ movies came about at a time of “superhero fatigue”.
The 51-year-old actor voiced the role of Knuckles in the 2022 sequel to the smash hit film based on the classic Sega games and ahead of the release of his own spin-off series, mused that the success of the franchise could be down to audiences growing somewhat tired of other franchises like Marvel and DC.
He told Collider: “I think it came at a point where there might have been a bit of superhero fatigue, and along came a very friendly, furry little speedball that runs around with his mates, and it was fun and really well done.
“I think it feels very familiar. It’s Sonic. We love Sonic. I think that people just want more from it. They get attached to something, they want to peel the onion back, and they want to see more, and see derivatives of. So, I think we just hit a specific time.”
The ‘Beast’ star – who will also reprise his role as Knuckes in the upcoming ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’– will get to know “a lot more” about Knuckles through the spin-off, who in the gaming series is depicted as Sonic’s secondary best friend after Tails and his former rival.
He said: “How funny it is. How it does not shy away from being super detailed and just as good, in terms of quality and depth and writing and performance, as the movie series.
“I think that if you wanted to know a little bit more about Knuckles, you get to know a whole lot more about him. So, that’s what I like about it. It is a real universe dive. You know what I mean? The ‘Sonic’ franchise grows, and here comes Knuckles. You get to know a lot more.”

Gabby Logan admits she never gets bored of talking about sport on TV after 30 years in broadcasting

OHMYGOSSIP — Gabby Logan never gets tired of talking about sport.
The 50-year-old TV star – who is married to retired Scottish rugby union player Kenny Logan and has 18-year-old twins Reuben and Lois with him – has made a career out of hosting shows like ‘Match of the Day’ and has covered various high-profile sporting matches for the main broadcasters but as she launches new podcast ‘The Sports Agents’ admits that there are “other things” in her life.
Asked if she ever gets bored of it, she told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “Not really. Luckily, I live in a house where everybody else wants to talk about it as well. But I do have other things I’m interested in.
“I want my friends who like sport but don’t talk about it as much as I do to get something from the podcast, whether it’s the stories or gossip. There are lots of people we’d like to get on T’he Sports Agents’… Jürgen Klopp when he leaves Liverpool, Andy Murray to tell us when he’s going to hang up his racket, Harry Kane at the end of his first season in Germany to tell us what it’s been like.”
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant also admitted that she “cannot believe” she has been in broadcast for more than 30 years and admitted that everything has “whizzed by” since she covered the London 2012 Olympics as she reflected on the huge “changes” within the television industry.
She said: “No, I can’t [believe it!]. Since the 2012 Olympics, it has whizzed by. I can still remember my first week at Sky Sports like it was yesterday, coming from the North-East working in local radio. It’s been fun working for various different TV stations, the way the industry has changed and all the different platforms
and ways of broadcasting.

Laura Anderson opens up on suffering from ‘mum guilt’ as she lands huge new job

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Anderson doesn’t think she will ever “conquer” mum guilt.
The 34-year-old reality star has seven-month-old Bonnie with her ex-boyfriend Gary Lucy and with her new job as a host on Capital FM, she is trying to “find a balance” between her motherhood and her career.
She told OK!: “Absolutely. I’m trying to find a balance between switching off when I’m at work and then being fully ‘mum Laura’ when I get home, but it’s all still new. Bonnie has just turned seven months and I don’t think anyone ever truly conquers ‘mum guilt. ‘ We’re only human after all.”
The former ‘Love Island’ star added that finding childcare can be “tough” but admitted that ultimately she does her job in the interest of her daughter and even though she thought she was “organsied” before becoming a mother, that is nothing compared to how she is now.
She said: “It can be tough but at the end of the day, my life revolves around Bonnie. I’m doing this job for her – to provide for her. I’m sure she’ll be a topic of conversation on the radio all the time [laughs] and I’ll be checking in on her during ad breaks. But the early starts mean that I get to spend every afternoon with her, give her dinner and put her to bed. Plus, I’m such an organised person, so that helps. I thought I was organised before but since having Bonnie, there’s nothing more than having good time management.
Laura also noted that upon becoming six months old, Bonnie seemed to transform into a “completely different person” and that she is finding this stage of motherhood more difficult than the pregnancy in some respects.
She said: “She’s starting to wean now, which is a big step. I always strive for excellence in everything I do and tried to be well-prepared. I read all the books before Bonnie arrived, but as soon as she hit six months, she transformed into a completely different baby!
“It’s astonishing how rapidly she’s developing. She’s nearly crawling and I suspect her first word isn’t far off. Previously, I could put her in a bouncer when I needed to do chores like washing up, but she no longer wants to sit still. Before we know it, we’ll be potty training!
“It’s amusing because during pregnancy you assume the toughest part will be lack of sleep, but I’ve found this stage more challenging.

Joseph Quinn dismisses The Fantastic Four superhero fatigue fears

OHMYGOSSIP — Joseph Quinn isn’t concerned about superhero fatigue affecting ‘The Fantastic Four’.
The 30-year-old actor is set to star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie as Johnny Storm/Human Touch and has brushed off any fears that viewer exasperation with the genre could impact the flick’s performance when it hits cinemas next year.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Joseph said: “I think that with the story of the Fantastic Four, it feels like we want to get this right.
“There are aspects of it that are very different to other Marvel films. That felt very compelling to me. And again, going back to who’s involved, Matt (Shakman), of course, the director, I think is brilliant, and the cast, and I’ve read it and the script is brilliant. It’s really brilliant. I’m delighted to have this opportunity.”
The ‘Stranger Things’ actor continued: “Superhero movies are movies about people. And if we’re invested in the people and the characters and the peril and the spectacle, then that’s why people go to the theatres to watch films. We’re not just in a penny; we’re in for a pound with this one. We’re going to go for it.”
Quinn is joined in the superhero team by a cast that includes Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach and he says that working with such talent attracted him to the project.
He said: “I knew that they’d been talking about making the Fantastic Four in the Marvel Universe for a while. I had a talk with Matt, and it was very clear with the kind of people who they were attaching to it what they were trying to do with it. There are aspects of it that are very much a singular thing and its own thing.
“Working with Vanessa, Pedro, Ebon – they’re really consummate pros and brilliant in everything they’re in. So I’m really looking forward to establishing this familial dynamic with them and with Matt Shakman’s guidance.”

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio set to team up again for Frank Sinatra biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Scorsese is planning to direct a Frank Sinatra biopic.
The 81-year-old filmmaker is developing a movie that is set to star his frequent collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio as the ‘My Way’ crooner and Jennifer Lawrence as the singer’s second wife – the actress Ava Gardner.
According to Variety, Scorsese’s Sinatra film could hit a stumbling block as the star’s daughter Tina Sinatra controls his estate and is yet to give her blessing to the picture.
It was Gardner who broke up Sinatra’s marriage to Tina’s mother Nancy Barbato.
Apple, which financed Scorsese’s last movie ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, are determined to team up with the director once again but Sony is thought to be the frontrunner to land the rights to the project.
Should the Sinatra biopic come to fruition, it would mark the seventh time that Scorsese and DiCaprio have made a movie together and the director has hailed ‘The Revenant’ star as a “natural film actor”.
The ‘Taxi Driver’ helmer said: “What’s great about Leo, and it’s why we work together so often, is, he goes there. He goes to these weird places that are so difficult and convoluted, and through the convolution, somehow there’s a clarity that we can reach.
“And usually it’s in the expression, in his face, in his eyes. I’ve always told him this. He’s a natural film actor. I could shoot a close-up of him, he could be thinking of nothing, and I could intercut anything with it, and people will say, ‘Oh, he’s reacting to such and such.’
“There’s something in his face that the camera locks into, in his eyes.”

Sir Lenny Henry to star in eery new sci-fi audio drama executive produced by Idris Elba

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Lenny Henry is to star in a new audio drama executive produced by Idris Elba.
The 65-year-old comedian will appear alongside Patricia Allison, George MacKay and Arinzé Kene in the sci-fi thriller – which examines a world in which AI is used to recreate the personalities of deceased loved ones for profit – and the project was overseen by Hollywood couple Idris and Sabrina Elba.
In a joint statement, they said: ““We’re both incredibly passionate about elevating the voices of underrepresented talent, which was at the core of what we wanted to do with this project and Audible. Imeldha Eloni and Michael Honnah have created an incredible story which was an absolute joy for us to Executive Produce.
“At S’ABLE Labs, partnership is one of our core pillars, which was at the root of everything the team did with Halfway. With music from Axel Kacoutié, direction from Holly Reddaway and all brought to life with an incredible acting performance from the cast, Halfway is a truly collaborative project and we can’t wait for people to hear it.”
The Audible drama – which marks the first time Idris and Sabrina have worked on such a project – has been described by writers Imeldha Eloni and Michael Honnah as an “incredibly rich” concept that will draw on “real-world” issues throughout as they thanked the celebrity duo for their support.
They said: “Audible and S’ABLE Labs supported and championed us to adventure with all of our original ideas. We were encouraged to push the boat out and make something that was cinematic for the ears. As a result, Halfway is an incredibly rich, grounded sci-fi from a particular black British perspective. It draws on real-world issues and we are excited to have created a story that discusses the social consumption of tech and how human relationships have become reliant on technology as it evolves into more advanced forms like AI.”
‘Halfway’ is available for download from 18 April exclusively on Audible.
Audible membership may be required.

OHMYGOSSIP — Zara McDermott was left “petrified” when she witnessed a drug deal while filming her new documentary.
The 27-year-old TV star opted to join local police on a drug bust for her BBC Three doc ‘Ibiza: Secrets of the Party Island’ – which is set to air on Sunday (21.04.24) – and struggled to control her nerves whilst driving to the scene so had to pull over.
She told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column : “The biggest thing I was petrified of was in that drug dealer scene. I was driving and I pulled into the kerb about five metres away because I was so scared of hitting it.”
The former ‘Strictly’ Come Dancing’ contestant has hosted a string of hard-hitting documentaries since finding fame on ‘Love Island’ in 2018 and recently explained that she wanted to look into the party island because she wanted to look at the “changing culture” of the party island.
She said : “Over the years, I’ve always been really interested by documentaries that have been made on party islands but I wanted to make something that was current and looked into some of the issues that the party islands are facing today.
“Ibiza particularly drew me in as I love the island and I’ve been going there for years.
“Nearly a million Brits a year head to Ibiza, and it’s been a go to destination for generations of holiday makers looking for a particular combination of sunshine, great beaches and all night partying.
“I’ve been able to watch it change and elevate over time and I realised that this would be a really exciting place to start looking into the effects of its changing culture and how it’s evolving going forward.”

Katie Price wants her own late-night chat show as she admits she struggled being on Loose Women

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Price found it “hard” to be on ‘Loose Women’.
The 45-year-old ex-glamour model served as a regular panellist on the ITV1 lunchtime chat show from 2015 until 2018 and appeared alongside the likes of long-serving stars like Linda Robson, Coleen Nolan, and Janet Street-Porter but admitted it was quite tricky because she had to be “directed” by producers via an earpiece.
Speaking on her ‘The Katie Price Show’ podcast, she said: “You have an earpiece in. So like I used to have to get up about half five, six in the morning to get to the studio and then you all go through the headlines, what guests you’ve got on, what questions you’re gonna ask and you’ve got a little earpiece in your ear.
“But it’s quite hard to do ‘Loose Women’ because you’ve got four women who wanna ask questions and then sometimes with my brain, should I say, when I sometimes don’t know or I wanna say a question, they’d be like ‘No Kate, no Kate’ or ‘Ask this question, Kate’.
“You’re quite directed in it.”
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here’ contestant also revealed she would “love” to do her own late-night chat show where she could ask her own questions as she admitted she gets “bored” in her own interviews as she knows how it feels to be asked the same thigns over and over again.
She said: “I’d love to do a chat show, I would love to do my own late-night questions because I would like to ask questions that people don’t want to but being nice and making it natural.
“It’s like if someone interviews me, I just know it’s gonna be the same old questions.
“If I get interviewed, I want people to know things about me that aren’t already out there like my favourite chocolate or my favourite dinners.”

Speaking at the shoot of ‘Getting Lippy’, presented by Slingo, Chelcee revealed, “I feel like I’ve done an awful lot of reality TV for the moment. I loved doing the Wim show, as I don’t really class that as reality. We all did it for our own individual reasons and we weren’t against each other. It was a really beautiful show to do.
“But I’m not on the lookout for another show, and I definitely wouldn’t do a dating show.

“You’re never gonna see me going out anymore. Like, I’m not on dating sites. It will happen when it happens.
“I said when I was younger that I wanted to be a footballer and a songwriter and I’ve done that. Plus all my friends are single at the moment so I’m just having fun.”

Rachel Woolford crowned winner of ‘The Apprentice’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Woolford has been crowned winner of ‘The Apprentice’.
The 28-year-old fitness entrepreneur from Leeds is the fifth female contestant in a row to win the BBC reality show, judged by 77-year-old Lord Alan Sugar.
She revealed after her victory was announced on Thursday (18.04.24) she has two goals – signing TV host Alison Hammond as the first client for her gum business, and getting married.
She told Mail Online after beating 37-year-old pie shop owner Phil Turner to Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment prize: “It’s an honour to have been chosen by Lord Sugar and for him to invest in my business which at the end of the day is my baby and something I have been working on for almost five years now.
“For him to see something in me and think my business is investable is just an incredible and overwhelming feeling.
“I am really looking forward to working with Lord Sugar for a number of reasons. He is investing a lot of money into me to enable my business to grow to open a third site and potentially a fourth.
“We don’t have a lot of big celebrities in Leeds and Harrogate but I would love Alison Hammond to come in, she’s hysterical. I met her last week when I went on ‘This Morning’ and she is so great and funny. I know Lord Sugar cycles too… I would love to get him on a spin bike.”
Rachel set up her boutique North Studio fitness business aged 23 and added she misses out on “socialising” like her other friends in her 20s due to grafting on her firm.
She paid tribute to her fellow business owner partner Benjy for understanding the sacrifices she has made.
Rachel added: “I am so lucky to have a fiancé who also has a business so knows what it takes. If I’m working late or missing something, he knows it’s business especially in the first few years… it’s not an easy ride and I’m so grateful from an early age I got stuck in and I was never put off by things going wrong. I will continue to work like that but now all the blood, sweat and tears were worth it.
“I got engaged in December last year so a month before ‘The Apprentice’ started airing. We haven’t actually set a date yet because I have been a little busy, but we plan on getting married next summer.”

Rachel Woolford reveals secret to winning The Apprentice

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Woolford has revealed the secret strategy which helped her win ‘The Apprentice’.
The 28-year-old gym-owner bagged Lord Alan Sugar’s £250,000 investment prize on the BBC reality competition after a showdown with pie-maker Phil Turner in the final episode and she has now explained her plan to ensure victory involved keeping her “head down” for much of the series – insisting she wanted to prove that you don’t have to be loud and brash to succeed in business.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I went into The Apprentice promising I would just be myself, and not turn it on in any way in front of the cameras, throw anyone else under the bus or be bitchy. I wanted to prove you don’t need to be the loudest voice and screaming at the others.
“For that, people saw me as a bit of an underdog. But my main value in business, and in life, is that you don’t have to shout to get your point across.
“I wasn’t getting any airtime in the beginning because I wasn’t talking over people. But it worked out, as I was instead busy making little actions here and there to show up in the task and impress Lord Sugar.”
Rachel added: “You can’t be a wallflower – you do have to know how to speak up and defend yourself. But keeping your head down and working hard is the key.”
She is now hoping to use Lord Sugar’s money to expand her gyms across the north of England. Rachel previously told Mail Online: “It’s an honour to have been chosen by Lord Sugar and for him to invest in my business which at the end of the day is my baby and something I have been working on for almost five years now.
“For him to see something in me and think my business is investable is just an incredible and overwhelming feeling. “I am really looking forward to working with Lord Sugar for a number of reasons.
“He is investing a lot of money into me to enable my business to grow to open a third site and potentially a fourth. ”
