Rita Ora starring in He Bled Neon

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora has joined the cast of ‘He Bled Neon’.
The 33-year-old pop star will take on her latest acting role alongside Joe Cole, former NFL ace Marshawn Lynch and Jack O’Connell in the action-thriller from director Drew Kirsch.
The project marks the feature directorial debut from Kirsch – a music video director who has co-helmed the videos for the Taylor Swift songs ‘You Need to Calm Down’ and ‘Lover’ and has also worked with artists including Shakira and John Legend.
A synopsis of the picture reads: “After his estranged brother’s mysterious death, Ethan’s (Cole) journey to Las Vegas for the funeral unravels a dark web of crime, forcing him to confront his past as he delves into the city’s gritty underworld to uncover the truth, risking everything he holds dear in the process.”
Tim Cairo and Jake Gibson are writing the script from an original story by Nate Bolotin, the co-founder of producers XYZ Films, which is inspired by his experiences growing up in Sin City.
Rita has previously acted in the ‘Fifty Shades’ franchise and the fantasy flick ‘Wonderwell’ and described how she wanted to emulate the likes of Madonna and Cher by refusing to “limit” her creativity to only the music business.
The ‘Let You Love Me’ hitmaker said: “I’ve had 13 top ten singles in the UK without being born here, and only hard work got me here — along with the support of my family, friends and fans. So I’m determined to keep going. I want to do more films, more TV and more fashion.
“I want to create on all platforms because I grew up watching my idols like Madonna, Whitney Houston, Aaliyah, Cher and Marilyn Monroe. They showed you don’t have to stick to one thing, you can do everything. Creating isn’t limited to one department — and that’s what I love about what I do.”

‘I’m unleashed now!’ Bruno Tonioli ‘so grateful’ to Britain’s Got Talent

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruno Tonioli is “so grateful” to ‘Britian’s Got Talent’ for allowing him to show “more” of himself than he could on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 68-year-old star is currently in his second series as a panellist on ‘BGT’, after previously being a judge on the BBC One Latin and ballroom show from 2004 to 2019, and he admitted it has been “good doing something different”.
He told The Sun newspaper: “Sometimes you have to try something new. It is good doing something different.
“In a way the role I played in ‘Strictly’ is different from what I do here.
“I’m so grateful to BGT for allowing me to show more of myself.
“I’m Bruno unleashed now, darling! I can use all my range, it’s exciting.”
While Bruno departed ‘Strictly’, he is still a judge on the US version of the show, ‘Dancing With the Stars’, and has admitted he won’t be leaving the show anytime soon.
He said: “I’m still doing the American one, and I’m very passionate about it.”
Bruno was a judge alongside Len Goodman – who passed away in April 2023 aged 78 – on both ‘Strictly’ and ‘Dancing With the Stars’, and the late star sent him a congratulatory message before he made his ‘BGT’ debut last year.
The panellist said: “Len sent me a wonderful email just before he passed away, which is still very hard to talk about.
“I can’t even speak about him not being here. But that email meant a lot to me.”
Speaking about the ‘Strictly’ team, he added: “They know I love them all and they know I love the show. I spent 15 years of my life there.”

Susanna Reid reveals her favourite Good Morning Britain moment as show gears up for 10th anniversary

OHMYGOSSIP — Susanna Reid’s most memorable ‘Good Morning Britain’ moment came just seconds before the launch episode went live.
The ITV show will turn 10 years old on Sunday (28.04.24), and the anniversary will be marked on Monday’s (29.04.24) episode from 6am, and Susanna has recalled one of her favourite memories from fronting ‘GMB’ occurred as she and Ben Shephard prepared to go live for the first time alongside Charlotte Hawkins and Sean Fletcher.
Susanna said: “The first one has to be the launch.
“I remember sitting next to the wonderful Ben Shephard, who just as the opening credits were rolling whispered, ‘You’ll never get a second chance to enjoy this moment, because this is the only moment we’ll ever launch this programme, ‘Good Morning Britain’, on ITV to the nation. So enjoy every second of it.’
“You can be quite nervous when you’re presenting a new programme as there’s a lot of pressure, lots of responsibility and there is obviously lots of media attention.
“And when he said that, I just thought, ‘You’re absolutely right!’ In that moment when the music’s running – yes, just enjoy it! So that’s such a memorable moment for me.”
Susanna also admitted being part of the coverage of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, and interviewing former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, were part of her memorable moments, and Charlotte has recalled the “sense of anticipation” on launch day.
She added: “There have been so many stand-out moments over the years.
“From that very first morning where we all sat round the desk with such a sense of anticipation of being there to launch a brand-new show, and all that was to come.
“There have been the breaking news stories, the emotional and inspiring interviewees, those with extraordinary stories.
“But for me, it has to be the time Hollywood came to ‘GMB’ and I was asked to appear in Bradley Cooper’s film Burnt, and I got to interview him about it. A moment I will never forget.”
Good Morning Britain’s 10th Anniversary is Sunday 28th April. Watch GMB weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX

Jacob Roberts ‘joins Coronation Street as part of Lauren Bolton plot’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jacob Roberts has joined the cast of ‘Coronation Street’.
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ star – who played Damon Kinsella in the Channel 4 soap from 2017 to 2023 – is set to play a character who is involved in Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) disappearance storyline.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “‘Corrie’ bosses were really impressed with Jacob in his audition and he landed the part straight away.
“He’s getting along really well with the cast, and will make quite the impact with viewers when he hits screens in a few weeks.”
The hard-hitting plot has seen police convinced that café owner Roy Cropper (David Neilsen) is responsible for Lauren’s whereabouts.
Roy has been arrested and charged with the teen’s murder, after she disappeared from the cobbles earlier this year.
Jacob’s Hollyoaks character Damon departed the Cheshire village in June last year alongside Zara Morgan (Kelly Condron).
A message on the ‘Hollyoaks’ X account read: “Get together and say goodbye to the man, the legend, Damon! He has given us endless entertainment, laughter and tears on our screens, and we will never forget him! Thank you Jacob, for bringing us this amazing character who we’ve all loved for so long! #Hollyoaks (sic)”
Jacob wrote on Instagram: “My time at Hollyoaks has come to an end, after 6 amazing years. I would just like to thank all of the amazing cast, crew and viewers that helped to make this all possible, my time on the show would not have been the same without you all. The end of an era for Damon Kinsella, but i am very excited to see what the future holds on screen soon. (sic)”

Greg Rutherford shares stomach update after being forced to quit Dancing on Ice over injury

OHMYGOSSIP — Greg Rutherford is feeling “so much better” four weeks after having an operation on his stomach.
The 37-year-old Olympan had to withdraw from ‘Dancing on Ice’ earlier this year after sustaining an injury in rehearsals and took to social media on Tuesday (16.04.24) evening to update fans on his recovery.
He wrote on Instagram: “A little stomach update…
“I’m almost 4 weeks post op now and feeling so much better. I can move around with almost no feeling of pain and the wound has now closed and healed. “Pic 2 shows the insane swelling I initially had.”
Greg noted that he can still not tense his abs as he would like at the minute but has gained weight since the operation and will be back in training as soon as he is ready.
“I can’t tense my abs properly still, but that’s coming. I also managed to put a ton of weight on since the op, so as soon as I’m ready I’ll be training to get myself trim again… maybe even back on skates.”
The former athlete – who won the long jump gold medal at London 2012 – took to social media in March to reveal that he was heading to see a specialist over his “grim” injury as he thanked his fans for their support.
He said: “Seen a specialist today, I’ve got some scans tomorrow, and then I will know more about what’s going on, and what’s happening.
“I’m very sore and very tired so I’m going to get an early night tonight. But again I cannot believe the amount of lovely messages I’ve had so thanks very much. I’ll update everybody once I know what the next step is. This is grim.”

Chris Packham attacks ‘spur him on to do more’

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Packham has vowed to keep fighting for the environment despite being the target of attacks.
The 62-year-old TV star, who is best known for hosting ‘Winterwatch’, has been the victim of several attacks due to his environmental activism – having seen his New Forest home firebombed in 2021 and narrowly missing “a good beating” while in Cyprus to stop illegal bird hunting. Now, Chris has insisted these intimidation tactics do nothing but “spur [him] on to do more” for nature.
During an appearance on the ‘The RadioTimes Podcast’, he said: “There’s always going to be pushback.
“A tiny percentage of people tend to lash out, whether that’s on social media or you’re in a field in Cyprus and someone’s weaving a big iron bar at you.
“That’s part and parcel of the job really and you can’t allow that to intimidate you.”
Chris previously revealed he had received “death threats” following his environmental campaigning.
He told Saga Magazine: “I had a death threat sent by email last week that was reported to the police.
“A threat of violence the previous week. On my social media platforms, the climate change deniers, the pro-shooting, pro-hunting lobbies are very active daily. I spend quite a lot of time alone in the countryside with my dogs and you don’t know who’s around the next corner.”
The former ‘Springwatch’ star also admitted he had taken on extra security guards for the BBC show to ensure his safety after “specific threats” against him were made.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: “A couple of times recently, before the Watches, we’ve had specific threats for me. So we’ve had a person who’s there and stays at the hotel, and then goes with me to the place.
“We have had several threats recently that are not death threats but they’re saying, ‘We’re going to harm you.’ And they come, unbelievably, from emails. We’ve got the person’s email address, obviously, I’ve reported them to the police.
“I haven’t heard back from the police but they’ve acknowledged receipt of them. So we’ve had two in the last month, saying, ‘I’m going to harm you and harm your family.’”

Gino D’Acampo returns to controversial ITV show

OHMYGOSSIP — Gino D’Acampo will return to ‘Emissions Impossible’.
Filming on the ITV programme – which was hosted by the 47-year-old TV star and Fred Sirieix, 52 – was forced to come to a stop in October 2023 after Gino came down with a fever and suffered a horror toboggan crash in Vienna, Austria that left him bed-ridden.
Now, the celebrity chef is reportedly due to return to the show in May.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It’s quite unusual for a show to be shelved quite so spectacularly, only to be brought back months later.
“Usually they end up getting written off completely. But ITV clearly felt like this was worth going the extra mile for. Emissions Impossible was all about being greener when travelling.
“Ironically, by the time they’ve finished filming, all the presenters, producers and crew will have flown from Britain into Europe — and back again — twice.”
The ‘Family Fortunes’ presenter was left “frustrated” following the crash and dubbed it “the worst shoot of [his and Fred’s] life.”
He told The Sun: “I am shocked I have not had a phone call from ITV to see how I am and I cannot wait to talk to them about all of this.
“After 22 years of working with them, I am in an accident and I get ill, and yet I don’t get a phone call; I smell a fish. I think ITV have no idea what happened.”
According to a separate TV insider, both hosts had flagged safety concerns ahead of filming, with Gino being left “livid” after suffering from a fever due to working “14-hour long says in freezing conditions”.
A source told the MailOnline: “Contrary to reports the shoot for Emission Impossible, which was produced for ITV by an independent production company, was postponed owing to illness.
“We have robust and comprehensive policies which we implement contractually with our suppliers and partners.
“The independent production companies who make shows for us have primary responsibility for the duty of care of everyone they work with, both on and off screen.
“This includes establishing appropriate health and safety arrangements. We are speaking with Betty TV, the production company who make Emission Impossible to clarify their position.”

Pamela Anderson to star in The Naked Gun reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Pamela Anderson has joined Liam Neeson in the cast of ‘The Naked Gun’ reboot.
The ‘Baywatch’ actress is set to play the love interest of Neeson’s Frank Drebin Jr. – the son of Leslie Nielsen’s protagonist Detective Frank Drebin from the original films – in the movie that is slated for release in July 2025.
The role marks a return to film work for Pamela, 56, who has previously featured in pictures including ‘Barb Wire’, ‘Scary Movie 3’ and ‘Superhero Movie’.
Akiva Schaffer is directing and executive producing the film while he has also penned a draft of the script alongside Dan Gregor and Doug Mand – the writers of the hit Disney+ film ‘Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers’.
Liam recently confessed to feeling a “bit nervous” about the expectation that comes with reviving the spoof comedy franchise.
The ‘Taken’ actor told MovieWeb.com: “I’ve done a couple of, like, TV skits with Stephen Colbert and Ricky Gervais, but those were two minutes, three minutes tops.
“But I’m a bit nervous about ‘Naked Gun’, because it’s a feature film… If he tests it well, which I’m sure he will, Akiva Schaffer is our writer-director.
“And there’s lots of funny gags, lots of funny visual gags happening at the same time while ‘serious things’ are being discussed, you know?”
Liam revealed that he will be putting his own stamp on the franchise rather than imitating the late comedy icon Nielsen.
The 71-year-old star explained: “I’ll do my own thing. I remember Leslie very well. I love those films. Especially that first, ‘Airplane!’ You know, ‘Don’t call me Shirley’. Just that line alone, I think, changed Leslie’s career up until he passed away.”

Gavin and Stacey star Larry Lamb reveals he just wants to win the lottery as ‘nothing is set’ in TV

OHMYGOSSIP — Larry Lamb just wants to win the lottery.
The 76-year-old actor has had a long career on stage and screen but when asked about what he has coming up, he admitted that not much is in the pipeline and he would rather that his numbers come up so he could retire.
He told Woman’s Weekly magazine: “There are a couple of things that may be going to happen, but nothing is set. I’m an old man. I don’t have the energy. “Things come and I’m fine. My next dream role would be to win the lottery.”
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ star has become a regular fixture on British television over the years thanks to roles in ‘EastEnders’ and ‘Gavin and Stacey’ but has also had an illustrious career in the theatre and insisted that it is “much harder” to tread the boards than be on screen.
He said: “People just know me from the TV, but I’ve had 40 years working in the theatre. Roles that most people have no idea that I’ve done. I’ve been very lucky, I’ve done a lot of wonderful plays. Theatre is much, much harder.
“There’s no comparison. It’s not about one take – it’s about being out on a tightrope with nothing but sharks underneath. It’s different entirely.”
Meanwhile, the acting veteran will celebrate his 77th birthday in October but is still keen on keeping himself in shape.
He said: “I exercise every day, and I try to keep my back strong, and my core muscles tight. But although I love to ride my bike if I’m out in the country, I’m weary when it comes to cycling around London!”

Riz Ahmed joins cast of Wes Anderson’s new movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Riz Ahmed has landed a part in Wes Anderson’s latest film.
The 41-year-old actor is to feature in the acclaimed director’s untitled new project that is currently shooting in Berlin.
Plot details have not been disclosed but the movie is expected to be a typical Anderson ensemble piece with many of his usual collaborators – although it will be the first time that Riz has worked with the ‘Asteroid City’ helmer.
Benicio Del Toro and Bill Murray both feature in the cast of the project along with Michael Cera – another working with the filmmaker for the first time.
The picture has a script from Anderson and Roman Coppola, who has worked with the director on five previous movies, and had been set to start production late last year before the Hollywood strikes caused a delay.
Meanwhile, Riz recently revealed how the work of legendary director Martin Scorsese had a lasting impact on him as films such as ‘Goodfellas’ had family themes that struck a chord even though he was from a different background to the characters.
The ‘Sound of Metal’ star told the Metro newspaper: “I think the amazing thing about stories is that you can feel really ‘seen’ and understood, even by watching characters who don’t look anything like you and aren’t from anywhere similar to where you’re from.
“I certainly felt that in a massive way watching Martin Scorsese’s films. Watching ‘Goodfellas’. Just something about their sense of duty and family honour taking such a pride of place in those films is something that resonated.”
Riz continued: “That’s the magic thing about films. Underneath the differences that seemingly separate us, they can excavate a common well of emotion that all share.”

Amy Dowden working to make Strictly return

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Dowden is looking to return to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ following her cancer battle.
The 33-year-old professional dancer was forced to drop out of the BBC programme after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May 2023, though has since been given the all-clear from doctors and has teased fans she is working to get back on the show.
During an appearance on ‘BBC Breakfast’ where she was asked about returning to ‘Strictly’, she said: “That would be the dream, I’m working really hard and getting my body full back and rehab and physio.
“I’ve got a brilliant team so fingers crossed I’ll be back on your screens dancing later this year.”
Amy – who is married to Benjamin Jones – then recalled the shock of learning she had been diagnosed with cancer.
She recounted: “So I found a lump the day before I was going on my honeymoon, and obviously when I got back I went to my GP and yeah I was told unfortunately it is grade three cancer and I need a mastectomy, chemotherapy.
“I never thought for a million years at 32 that I’d be diagnosed with breast cancer, there I was living my life to the full on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. I just got married, cancer doesn’t discriminate.”
After overcoming the disease in February, the professional performer made her return to the dancing on screen as part of a special segment for ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ where she was seen backstage at the West End musical ‘Mamma Mia!’
During the programme, she said: “I am just itching to get on that stage and do some dance moves.”
A TV insider also emphasised the dancer “never lost any of her sparkle” during or after her cancer battle.
The source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It was quite the moment when Amy got up to dance … and she obviously blew everyone away with just how good she is.
“It’s been such a long journey for her but she has never lost any of her sparkle.”

Hollyoaks’ Jamelia wants fans to realise that soap stars ‘are human too’: ‘We need to be kinder!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamelia wants fans to realise that soap stars “are human” too.
The 43-year-old pop singer joined the cast of ‘Hollyoaks’ in 2023 as Sharon Bailey but can now also be seen as herself on the new ITVBe reality series ‘Drama Queens’ and is hoping that the new show inspires a movement of “being kind” to each other.
She told Digital Spy: “Honestly, I didn’t hesitate for a moment when I heard about the idea for the show. I thought it was such a fantastic opportunity for people to see the real life of soap stars.
“One thing that was important to all of us was that ‘Drama Queens’ is actually real – it’s not this sugarcoated, airbrushed or filtered version of reality.
“Actually it’s: ‘No, come into my house, come and help me do the washing!’ You might sometimes see the glitz, glamour and fame side of things, but there’s actually a real life here that’s going on behind the scenes.
“I think when we realise that everyone is human, we’ll be a bit kinder to each other – and also a bit kinder to ourselves.”
The former ‘Loose Women’ panellist – who appears alongside the likes of former ‘Coronation Street’ actresses Brooke Vincent and Ellie Leach on the show as well as Rita Simons of ‘EastEnders’ fame – recently finished filming on the Channel 4 soap opera but had an “amazing” time on set and “begged” writers not to kill her off.
She said: “My goodness, it has been amazing. I’m so glad that I took the plunge and said yes to Hollyoaks. Even though it was during the most difficult time of my life, I feel that it was perfect.
“I had such an amazing time doing the work, but also bonding with the cast. I really felt like I was part of a family. I would tell everyone my business and it was just really nice to have different perspectives.
“People say that a lot – ‘Oh, it’s like a family!’ – but it genuinely is. Everyone’s got different personalities, you get to know people and you find out their little quirks. I feel really fortunate to have had this experience.
“I begged them and said: ‘Please, allow Sharon to leave in a taxi and not a body bag!’ Just because I wanted the door left open, so if and when I want to return, it can happen.”

MasterChef’s Gregg Wallace thinks he should get a statue for ‘saving the nation’ from obesity

OHMYGOSSIP — Gregg Wallace believes he should receive a statue for “saving the nation” from obesity.
The 59-year-old TV star, who is best known for being a judge on ‘MasterChef’, has spent years campaigning for the nation to improve its eating habits, and hopes his efforts will earn him a statue in London’s Trafalgar Square.
During an appearance on the ‘Monday Mile with Aimee Fuller’ podcast, he said: “[All] I do is teach them to cook. And I have had such extraordinary successes.
“I’ve got one lady, she’s like a pin-up girl for me. She’s lost 12 stone in two years. She’s basically lost two Gregg Wallaces!
“Your grandchildren are going to drive past Trafalgar Square one day and there’s going to be a statue of Gregg Wallace in a toga holding a pineapple because he saved the nation.”
The culinary campaigner admitted he was anxious about the county’s future and health service due to the UK’s poor diet.
He explained: “I’m also nervous for the nation. I’m also nervous for the NHS. I think it’s getting very serious, isn’t it?
“And the cost to the nation of rising obesity, heart disease, cancers, kidney issues, liver issues, knee joints, hip joints, fertility issues and the cost to the NHS of picking up the bill and trying to cope with a nation that’s making itself more and more unwell on a week by week basis through its food choices.”
Gregg was then quizzed on how he maintains “discipline” in sticking to his healthy diet, to which he insisted three balanced meals a day was all it took.
He said: “[I] don’t need discipline. The reason I don’t want the obesity [chocolate] bar and the obesity bag [of crisps] is I’m not hungry. I’m having breakfast, lunch and dinner. The secret to weight loss is not to be hungry.
“People think it’s about being hungry and eating less. No, it’s not. It’s about not being hungry and eating more, just eating the right stuff.”

Sara Pascoe reveals her comedy career started by accident: ‘I’d never even been to a stand-up gig!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sara Pascoe’s comedy career started by accident.
The 42-year-old comedienne has enjoyed great success in stand-up but initially wanted to be an actress and used to believe that comics made it all up on the spot before realising it was something she could do.
Speaking on the ‘Table Manners’ podcast, she told hosts Jessie and Lennie Ware: “It wasn’t a conscious decision. It was a meander, it was an accidental thing. I was trying to be an actor, I’d always wanted to be an actor.
“I was auditioning for drama school, trying to do all these jobs that were acting adjacent like Theatre in Education, or working in old people’s homes doing plays. That’s what I really wanted to do and then I was doing a topical sketch show. There was this boy in it doing stand-up comedy and I had never been to see it. I thought stand-up comedy was improvised.
“I thought Jack Dee was making it all up or Billy Connolly just went on stage like ‘Hey, a funny thing happened on the way here…'”
The ‘8 Out Of 10 Cats’ star – who eventually made it as an actress in late 2000s drama series ‘Being Human’ and ‘The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret’ – then recalled knowing instantly she could follow a career when she went to a gig and found her way into the industry with under the guise of a character.
She said: “And then I went to watch a gig with all these lads in raincoats with pads…they weren’t very good! But I was like ‘Oh I could do that!’ And I did stand-up for a while as a character so I did it as an acting thing to try and keep my hand in while I was temping doing proper work. I had Mrs Nudie, who was kind of this detective who was naked under her coat. She solved crimes and I’d put all these clues underneath the audience’s chairs and they had to solve it.”

Zack Snyder promises ‘insane’ Rebel Moon director’s cuts

OHMYGOSSIP — Zack Snyder has boasted of “insane” director’s cuts for the ‘Rebel Moon’ movies.
The 58-year-old filmmaker’s two-part Netflix sci-fi saga concludes with the release of ‘Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver’ and he has explained that cuts with no limitations on “running time” and “rating” will be available to viewers in August.
Zack told Screen Rant: “I’ll be honest, it’s probably the most rewarding part of the deal I made with Netflix. They’re incredible partners, and they are able to complete the director’s cuts to exactly my specs.
“Running time is not an issue. Rating’s not an issue. All the things that I’ve been able to do with the director’s cuts, really that’s a dream come true for any filmmaker to have complete free hand is a cool thing.”
Snyder’s four-hour-long ‘Justice League’ director’s cut was released in 2021 after much clamour from superhero fans and he says he has been fortunate to work with the streamer to bring his original ideas to life.
The ‘Army of the Dead’ helmer said: “The incredible partners that Netflix have been on the PG 13, and that is to say the test screenings, the normal notes from the studio, the normal stuff, the normal interaction that you would have to kind of get this property to the place where it can be seen by the most people. That’s a fun job to do together.
“For all that, the complete hands-off whatever you think for the director’s cuts is also really fun too. So that’s the thing I’m most proud of is that waiting for you guys in August is this ridiculous, insane romp that I think is going to be for certain people, the best of both worlds.”

‘He just knew who these people were’: Zendaya praises Challengers director Luca Guadagnino’s character understanding

OHMYGOSSIP — Zendaya has hailed Luca Guadagnino’s deep understanding of characters.
The 27-year-old star plays tennis prodigy turned coach Tashi Duncan in the romantic sports movie ‘Challengers’ and thinks that the director has an innate knowledge of how to craft a character.
Speaking to Deadline at the movie’s Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday (16.04.24), Zendaya said: “Luca is brilliant. I think he has such a brilliant understanding about the human experience and deeply understands characters on another level.
“That was very apparent from the first time I spoke with him about this film and about these characters. He just knew who these people were in a deep sense and understood them, their hopes, their wants, their dreams, their desires, their fears.”
Zendaya features alongside Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist in the film which centres on how Tashi must help end her husband’s losing streak in a match against her former boyfriend and valued getting to work at close quarters with the filmmaker in her responsibility as a producer on the flick.
The ‘Spider-Man’ actress said: “It was so special to be able to collaborate with him, work with him, and learn from him as well. We had tennis training and all these great things.
“But we also had rehearsal, which was something he had never done before, and it was just so special for us to have that time to work on the script, dig in, and get to know each other.”
O’Connor reiterated Zendaya’s thoughts about the ‘Bones and All’ filmmaker and described it as an “honour” to be acting under his guidance.
He said: “It was a pleasure working on this movie. When you got a director like Luca, it’s such an inspiration. He knows exactly what he’s doing in any given scene, and it’s a real treat and an honour.”
