Brenda Blethyn bidding farewell to Vera after 14 series

OHMYGOSSIP — Brenda Blethyn is bowing out after one more series of ‘Vera’.
DCI Vera Stanhope will hang up her infamous trench coat and hat and bid farewell to Northumberland and the North East with the 14th and final instalment of the hit ITV1 detective series – based on the books by Ann Cleeves – which begins filming this summer.
An emotional Brenda, who first starred in the role in 2011, said: “Working on Vera has been a joy from beginning to end and I’m sad to be saying Cheerio. But I am so proud of our achievements over the last fourteen years. I’ll be forever grateful to the wonderful Ann Cleeves who created Vera, and to Elaine Collins who saw fit to cast me in the role. The Producers, dream cast and crew have been fabulous and I’m going to miss them, but I won’t forget their huge talent, the camaraderie, laughter or kindness we shared nor the friendship of the people of the north east and our fans worldwide. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Silverprint Pictures Creative Director Kate Bartlett commented: “It is the end of an era and has been an extraordinary journey over fourteen amazing series of Vera. So many wonderful and talented people have been involved in the making of Vera across all the series, but none of us would be here without two incredible women: firstly, the absolutely extraordinary talent of the inimitable Brenda Blethyn. She is brilliant as DCI Vera Stanhope, a truly iconic character of our times. And – of course – the amazing Ann Cleeves, author of the original novels and creator of DCI Vera Stanhope. We will all be very sad to say goodbye to Brenda and everyone involved in making the show.”
Drama Commissioner Huw Kennair Jones: added: “Led by the incomparable Brenda Blethyn, from the moment Vera arrived on our screens in 2011 audiences have been enthralled by her many adventures. And whilst we’re sad she’s hanging up her Mac, we’re hugely grateful for 14 brilliant series. Everyone at ITV would like to thank Brenda, Ann Cleeves, Silverprint Pictures and the amazing cast and crew that have made Vera such a continued success.”
Golden Globe and BAFTA winner Brenda, 78, recently admitted she often contemplates “retiring”.
She was quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s HotTV column as saying: “I think about retiring nearly every day… when my feet are aching. We are not finished with it yet. It’s a joy to work on. There are no egos in sight. Everyone is enthusiastic and very diligent and wants it to work well. There’s nobody phoning it in.”
All 13 series of Vera are available for streaming on ITVX.

Homes Under the Hammer star Martin Roberts has ‘no time to die’ after heart scare

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Roberts feels he has “no time to die” following his health scare.
The 60-year-old TV star – who is best known for hosting ‘Homes Under the Hammer’ – learned he was suffering from pericardial effusion – a condition in which fluid builds up in the structure surrounding the heart – in April 2022, and was rushed to hospital to undergo emergency surgery.
And Martin has insisted he is determined to live life to its fullest after his brush with death.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: “The thought it could end so quickly made me desperate to do all I can because I don’t know how much longer I’ve got left. None of us do.”
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ campmate admitted the mental scars from his health scare still haven’t healed.
He said: “I can’t understate the mental after-effects of what happened to me. The physical stuff you get over, but it’s the overriding thought it could have all ended.
“Everything you tried to do, and your family, you realise it could all be gone. I was told I needed to slow down and I’ve gone the other way.
“Hopefully I’ve got many years but you never know. That whole thing that happened to me makes you realise how thin a thread we dangle from. But you can’t go through life living in that fear.”
Martin is now on a mission to improve the lives of troubled teenagers through a new renovation project.
The TV presenter bought a tired pub and hotel in the Welsh town of Blaencwm, Rhondda Valley, and has recruited youngsters to help him turn it into a community hotspot.
He explained: “I’ve been given this opportunity to change kids’ lives and I feel so privileged.
“This is an ambitious project, the building was closed at the start of lockdown and the village lost its heart. I thought, ‘This needs me.’ It’s turned into a major community project.”

Revenge-porn victim Georgia Harrison set for another TV series documenting her campaign work

OHMYGOSSIP — Revenge-porn victim Georgia Harrison will reportedly front another TV show that documents her bid to “empower others to make positive changes in society.”
According to an industry insider, the 29-year-old ‘Love Island’ star is set to helm a new programme which will show her fight for justice for victims of image-based sexual abuse after her ex-boyfriend, Stephen Bear, 34, leaked explicit material of Georgia without her consent.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Georgia has already proved she is far more than just a pretty face with her brave fight against Bear.
“She made huge waves when she successfully campaigned for an amendment to revenge-porn laws, resulting in the removal of a clause that previously required prosecutors to prove an intent to cause humiliation or distress.
“The new series will follow her as she continues to empower others to make positive changes in society. Talks are under way but ITV is likely to air the series.”
The former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star first documented her legal battle against disgraced reality star Stephen, who was later found guilty of voyeurism and disclosing private, sexual photographs and film after he shared their sex tape on OnlyFans, in the ITV documentary ‘Revenge Porn: Georgia Vs Bear’.
Georgia admitted she was “crippled with shame” when the video leaked.
She said: “I was crippled by shame and embarrassment when the video was leaked. I was used in such a terrible way. It decimated my self-worth and my ability to trust.
“When I first realised the video was out there for everyone to see, my first thought was, ‘How am
I going to tell my dad?’
“Imagine how embarrassing it is for my dad knowing that all of his friends are aware that there is this really explicit video of his daughter out there.”
The reality star also revealed the situation had “really affected” her family’s lives after people spread the private footage online.
She explained: “A boy even accidentally sent it to my uncle without realising we were related. I have little brothers and sisters who were all in school at the time.
“They have had to deal with people bringing it up with them, calling me names. People were trying to forward it on social media to them.
“It has really affected their lives as well – it wasn’t just mine that was ruined.”

Huw Edwards resigns from BBC

OHMYGOSSIP — Huw Edwards has resigned from the BBC “on medical advice”.
The 62-year-old broadcaster has been off air since last July amid reports he had allegedly paid a young person for sexually explicit images, but he is now stepping away from the network for good.
A statement from the BBC read: “Huw Edwards has today resigned and left the BBC.
“After 40 years of service, Huw has explained that his decision was made on the basis of medical advice from his doctors.
“The BBC has accepted his resignation which it believes will allow all parties to move forward. We don’t believe it appropriate to comment further.”
Huw was one of the BBC’s highest-paid stars and famously delivered the news of Queen Elizabeth’s death to the nation in September 2022.
The ‘News at 10’ anchor was named as the BBC presenter at the centre of the scandal last summer by his wife Vicky Flind, who explained at the time he had been admitted to hospital with “serious” mental health issues and she was speaking out following days of speculation “primarily out of concern for his mental well-being and to protect our children”.
She said in a statement at the time: “In light of the recent reporting regarding the ‘BBC Presenter’ I am making this statement on behalf of my husband Huw Edwards, after what have been five extremely difficult days for our family. I am doing this primarily out of concern for his mental well-being and to protect our children.
“Huw is suffering from serious mental health issues. As is well documented, he has been treated for severe depression in recent years.
“The events of the last few days have greatly worsened matters, he has suffered another serious episode and is now receiving in-patient hospital care where he’ll stay for the foreseeable future.”
Police said at the time no criminal offence had been committed by the presenter.

Gogglebox’s George Gilbey died from traumatic injuries, inquest told

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Gogglebox’ star George Gilbey died from traumatic head and torso injuries, an inquest has been told.
The electrician, who passed away aged 40, was working on a roof in Shoeburyness, Essex, on March 27th when he fell through a skylight and died at the scene, an inquest in Chelmsford has heard.
The hearing took place on Monday (22.04.24), but was suspended following a request from the Essex Police, pending the outcome of a criminal investigation.
Proceedings have been adjourned for four months as a result.
A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter relating to the star’s passing, but he has since been released by police under investigation.
George, his mum Linda and his stepdad Pete McGarry – who passed away from bowel cancer aged 71 in 2021, days after he had been given six months to live – first appeared in ‘Gogglebox’ in 2013’s second series, but George left the show to enter the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house.
The star – who had seven-year-old daughter Amelie – went on to finish fourth in CBB’s 2014 series.
One of his fellow former housemates, Dee Kelly, was left “heartbroken” by his passing.
She wrote: “I’m so heart broken. I’ve left it till now to post because i just can’t get my head around it.
“My gawjus George, my friend. I’m gonna miss you, miss our chats, miss our messages.
“My love and prayers go out to Lynne and family and his beautiful little girl. (sic)”
Former ‘EastEnders’ star Danniella Westbrook was “absolutely gutted” by the shock news of George’s death.

‘It was a really low time’: Christine McGuinness used to ‘pray every night’ she wouldn’t ‘wake up’

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine McGuinness used to “pray every night” that she “wouldn’t wake up in the morning”.
The 36-year-old model was diagnosed with autism in 2021, but admits she experienced trauma during her younger years due to not being diagnosed earlier, and she considered taking her own life “an awful lot”.
Speaking on podcast ‘Big Fish with Spencer Matthews’, she said: “My late teens was where it was really, really difficult.
“I had years of just thoughts, just passing thoughts, you know ‘I just don’t want to wake up anymore’.
“I’d pray every night that I wouldn’t wake up in the morning.”
Asked if she’d ever considered how she might end her life, she said: “I thought about it a lot, I thought about it an awful lot.
“There were times when I took every tablet. My mum had a cupboard with all the medicine in.
“And I didn’t physically take them, but I would take them out of the cupboard and take them up to my bedroom and think ‘OK, I’m just going to do this tonight, I’m just going to get it over and done with.’ ”
Fortunately, Christine was always interrupted by a family member at a crucial time.
She added: “It was like something would always happen. Whether it would be my brother shouting at me to go and help him on his Xbox or my sister asking what outfit she should wear.
“It felt like someone would always interrupt me or disturb me.
“It was a really, really low time. It’s not something that I’m completely OK with, that I even thought like that, because that would have been absolutely devastating for my mum.”
Christine – who has children Leo and Penelope, 10, and Felicity, seven, who all have autism, with her ex-husband Paddy McGuinness – broke down in tears earlier this month, as she told how the thought of dying “absolutely petrifies” her.
Speaking on BBC show ‘Pilgrimage’ – in which she starred alongside former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Spencer – an emotional Christine said: “I just don’t know what I’d do without my kids.
“I don’t know what I’d do without my babies.
“I just wanted to come back and look at the church again and really appreciate it, because I don’t enjoy the feeling of death.
“As a mum it absolutely petrifies me. My biggest fear is leaving my children one day.
“My children are considered different because they’re all autistic and so am I, and I have often had comments like, ‘I bet you wish there was a cure or something to fix your children,’ and I really don’t.
“I think every single child is a miracle. But it just makes me want to be around forever because they’re so magical.”
The star also admitted she “wouldn’t be here” if she didn’t have her children.
She added: “It is my purpose in life and I know I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have my children.
“I just don’t know what I’d do without my kids, and I also don’t know what they’d do without me, It scares me. It really does.”

A Knight’s Tale sequel ‘scrapped by Netflix algorithm’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘A Knight’s Tale’ sequel was scrapped by the Netflix algorithm, according to director Brian Helgeland.
The 63-year-old filmmaker has been keen to shoot a follow-up to his 2001 medieval comedy classic – which starred Heath Ledger, Paul Bettany and Alan Tudyk – but despite the original movie’s enduring popularity, the streaming platform has decided against it.
He told Inverse magazine: “I pitched it to Sony because they own the rights, and it seemed like they were interested in making it with Netflix, releasing it as a Netflix movie.
“My understanding is that Netflix tested this sequel idea through their algorithms, which indicated that it would not be successful.
“‘A Knight’s Tale’ seems to get more popular with every passing year; it’s the strangest thing.”
Helgeland and the team already had big plans for a sequel almost 20 years ago when they finished work on the original movie.
He recalled: “When we finished ‘A Knight’s Tale,’ we were already thinking about making the sequel as a pirate film.
“The plot revolved around Count Adhemar (Rufus Sewell) kidnapping Jocelyn (Shannyn Sossamon) and taking her to Constantinople.
“They end up as galley slaves after their boat is captured by pirates. There’s a prisoner on the boat who has a treasure map tattooed on his back, but he keeps getting flogged for indiscipline.
“The guys volunteer to take turns getting flogged in this prisoner’s place, so the map isn’t erased. Sony didn’t want to do it.”
Along with actors Bettany and Tudky, Helgeland later revisited the idea of a sequel years after the death of Ledger in 2008, which was the version Netflix are said to have turned down.
He explained: “The guys had an idea that William (Ledger) had passed away during a war. However, William has a teenage daughter who wants to joust, but she’s not allowed to because she’s a woman.
“She tracks down the gang and they agree to teach her how to joust, but she has to hide who she is. They cut her hair short and she speaks with a deep voice, et cetera.”

Hugh Grant teases new Bridget Jones movie will be ‘the best one of the four’

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Grant believes the next ‘Bridget Jones’ movie will be “the best one of the four”.
The 63-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as Daniel Cleaver in the upcoming ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy’ and he was very impressed when he received the script for the film.
Hugh – who didn’t appear in the third film, ‘Bridget Jones’ Baby’ – told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I’ll tell you what, I think this script for the fourth Bridget is the best one of the four. And, in fact, one of the best scripts I have read for in a long time.”
The film will see Renee Zellweger’s Bridget adjusting to life as a single mother following the death of her husband, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), and Hugh was impressed with the depth of emotion he found in the script.
He said: “It’s based on trying to bring up two children alone, and then [it’s] all mixed up in the Bridget Jones comedy, so its very sad, as well as very funny.
“It has me in tears.”
The British star hadn’t been expecting the project to come up, or for his character – who was presumed dead in a plane crash in the third film until a newspaper headline revealed at the end of the movie that he’d been found alive – to return.
He said: “It just suddenly sprang out of, you know, Helen [Fielding] writing another book.
“Hopefully, we’re not too ancient. I don’t do much now, I’ve just got a few scenes.”
As well as Hugh and Renee, Dame Emma Thompson is set to return to the series as Dr. Rawlings, while new additions to the cast for ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy’ include Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall.
‘To Leslie’ filmmaker Michael Morris will direct the movie , which will be released on Peacock in the US next Valentine’s Day (14.02.25), and theatrically around the world.

Spencer Matthews to run 30 marathons in 30 DAYS in world record attempt

OHMYGOSSIP — Spencer Matthews is to embark on the challenge of a lifetime this summer when he aims to run 30 marathons in 30 days.
The former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star will head to the Jordanian desert, where he will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the most consecutive marathons run on sand.
Speaking on Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden about his 1,266km Great Desert Challenge, Spencer said: “So, I’m going to attempt to run 30 marathons in 30 days in the desert in the middle of summer, so end of July to end of August.
“A marathon every day, all of them on sand.
“So, my feet can’t leave sand – if I so much as touch a road or anything that is not sand, that marathon that day is void.
“They have to be consecutive, and yeah, it’s going to be quite the challenge.
“I’ve always been interesting in how far the human mind and body can go; I’ve always been inspired by certain other events that have been achieved by athletes and just people in general.
“I’ve taken part in some really tough races, and I wanted to push the boat out this time and try my best to make as much of a difference as possible.”
Spencer’s epic run will begin in the undulating Wadi Rum on the edge of the Arabian desert, and finish near the Dead Sea.
He is aiming to raise money for Global’s Make Some Noise – the official charity of Global, the Media and Entertainment group – during the challenge, which will take place in temperatures up to 45 degrees.
He added: “I’m looking to use the challenge to make as big a difference as possible for charity.
“Global’s Make Some Noise is incredible and makes a massive difference to the lives of so many people by supporting causes across the UK, some of which I have had the pleasure of meeting, so I am honoured to be getting behind the phenomenal work that they do.
“Having their work and your support front of mind will keep me going.”
To qualify for the Guinness World Record, Spencer will need to run the full distance – 1,266km – on sand.
He will not be able to cross roads, grass, rivers or other terrain during the 30 marathons, making the challenge a logistical, as well as physical and mental feat.
A dedicated adjudicator will be present during every marathon and will monitor Spencer’s progress in order for it to register as a successful Guinness World Record.
People can also follow Spencer’s daily updates via https://www.makesomenoise.com/spencer-matthews-challenge/ and his Instagram and YouTube channels.
Donating £30 – £1 for every marathon – could mean a vital support session for a pre-school child with a physical disability from a dedicated specialist worker. To donate £30, text SPENCER30 to 70766.
100 per cent of your donation will go to Global’s Make Some Noise. 16 and over only. Please seek bill payer’s permission. Standard network charges may apply. Ts Cs are at  https://www.makesomenoise.com

Alex Scott: Racist abuse left me scared to leave the house

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex Scott was “scared to leave the house” after receiving a torrent of racist abuse when she was incorrectly named as the host of ‘A Question of Sport’.
The 39-year-old former footballer was rumoured to have replaced Sue Barker as the host of the BBC quiz show, when Paddy McGuinness had in fact landed the role, but that didn’t stop social media trolls hurtling racist and misogynistic abuse at Alex, which left her terrified to go outside.
She told Women’s Health magazine: “I was scared to leave my house to even go to the shops.
“That’s the stage we’d got to – that the idea someone black might be replacing a national treasure could cause such hatred.”
However, Alex has tried to use the horrific moment as “a bit of ammunition to keep going and celebrate because you’re rubbing people up the wrong way”, and she is now open to “being more vulnerable”.
She added: “I’m gonna keep thriving, I’m gonna keep killing you with my kindness and doing my job to a level that you cannot stand.
“I’m in this bubble at the moment … I am more open to accepting and being more vulnerable.
“I’m enjoying being like, ‘OK, I’m just gonna roll with this.’ ”
Alex is gearing up to co-host the BBC’s Euro 2024 coverage, but she had a scare when working for the corporation at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The ex-Arsenal star previously told how she was nearly kidnapped by an Uber driver in Moscow.
She had ordered a car for a 15-minute journey to her hotel, during which the “stacked, bald” driver used Google translate to tell her she wouldn’t be making it home, resulting in her body going “numb”.
In her memoir ‘How (Not) To Be Strong’, she wrote: “He looked at me and said – in English – ‘Tell them they will never see you again.’
“‘I don’t understand,’ I stammered.
“My Uber driver picked up his phone and spoke into it, waiting for me to see the words as they appeared via Google Translate. ‘Tonight I am not taking you home,’ [it] read. ‘You come with me.’
“‘Oh my God,’ was my first thought… ‘I’m never going to see Mum again.’ ”
But Alex told the driver she was meeting Russian president Vladimir Putin the next day, after she had met him at the Kremlin alongside fellow BBC pundit Rio Ferdinand earlier that day.
She warned the motorist that Putin would “find” him if she wasn’t there to meet him, and he started driving back to her hotel.
Alex wrote: “Putin! I had been with Putin that morning! ‘You can’t kill me,’ I said. ‘I have to see Putin tomorrow.’
“He started laughing. ‘No one sees Putin’. I was scrambling now, pulling up photos from the morning’s visit to the Kremlin that had made newspaper headlines. His laughter died and I could see the cogs whirring as he tried to process what I was showing him. ‘If I don’t see Putin tomorrow, he will find you.’ ”

Jeremy Clarkson has ‘sleepless nights’ over cost of farming

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson has had sleepless nights over the struggle to make money from his Diddly Squat Farm.
The 64-year-old star – who shares his trials and tribulations on Amazon Prime Video series ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ – has an estimated net worth of £55 million, but the soaring cost of farming means he has been facing a battle to get a profit.
He’s quoted by the Daily Mail newspaper as saying: “Last year before the harvest we had to lay out £108,000 on diesel, fertiliser sprays, and the seed itself.
“That’s fine if the weather is okay because you’re going to make that money back. But you have a hell of a lot of sleepless nights when you know that one rainstorm could wreck the lot.
“I’ve noticed that farmers are quite sanguine; they go, ‘Well, you can’t control the weather’ and they sort of roll with it, but I’m too Yorkshire for that.
“I lie in bed after spending £100,000 hoping the weather’s good and, guess what? The weather was absolutely terrible, all year, every single month.”
The former ‘Top Gear’ presenter insisted “everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong”, with an enforcement notice from the council meaning he had to close his Diddly Squat Farm restaurant due to complaints from residents about traffic.
He added: “On top of all of this there was the pretty little restaurant that we opened earlier in the summer to sell the food we’d grown and reared on the farm.
“But after just six weeks, the council served us with an enforcement notice telling us it had to close.
“With the restaurant shut down we could no longer afford to keep all of the cows.”
In a bid to turn things around, the new series of ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ sees Jeremy and his assistant Kaleb have a competition to try and make the most money out of unfarmed land.
He explained: “It was a case of, can we make five pounds here and a bit of money there.
“I started harvesting blackberries, planting mustard, and using tiny little pockets of unfarmed land around the place. We harvested the nettles which normally are just a nuisance and tried to make them into soup.
“I got pigs into the woods: woods are normally empty of cash, no money comes from them, so I just did little bits and bobs.”

Jeremy Paxman ‘considered Dignitas’ amid ‘depressing’ Parkinson’s disease battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Paxman considered signing up for Dignitas amid his battle with Parkinson’s disease.
The 73-year-old former TV presenter announced in May 2021 that he had been diagnosed with the brain disorder – which leads to shaking and stiffness, as well as difficulty with walking, balance and coordination – and he debated going to the assisted-dying clinic in Switzerland as his condition has worsened.
Speaking to Saga Magazine, he said: “Yes, I have [thought about it[.
“But then I saw the Terry Pratchett film [‘Choosing To Die’] and I couldn’t help noticing how scruffy some of the staff were in dirty T-shirts.
“I’m afraid the lack of personal hygiene rather put me off. I think it’s very hard on those left behind, too.”
Despite deciding against it himself, the former ‘University Challenge’ host has supported “anyone who makes this choice” and insisted the laws around assisted dying in the UK need to change.
He added: “I don’t judge anyone who makes this choice, and I have a lot of sympathy for it. It is a deeply personal decision, so I do think people have the right to choose for themselves.
“It’s appalling that we employ all these numpties to sit in the House of Commons and they won’t let us make what ought to be our own decision.”
Reflecting on his day to day outlook with the illness, he described the disease as “one of the most depressing things”.
He said: “Parkinson’s is, for me, one of the most depressing things you could ever imagine. For many people who are ill there is the prospect of getting better.
“But Parkinson’s is degenerative, and that’s tough… to know that one will carry on being like this for ever is terrible.
“Though I suppose it is a very good opportunity not to do anything you don’t want to do – I have escaped many household chores!”

Claire Sweeney signs new Coronation Street contract

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire Sweeney has signed a new contract to remain on ‘Coronation Street’ for another year.
The 53-year-old actress – who plays homeless drug addict Cassie Plummer on the ITV soap – has put pen to paper on a 12-month deal, and she “couldn’t be happier” on the show.
She told Cheshire Life magazine: “I’ve just signed my contract for another year in ‘Corrie’, and I’m really happy to fully invest all my time and energy into Cassie and see what develops.”
Former ‘Brookside’ actress Claire admitted it has been a “dream come true” working with actors such as Dame Maureen Lipman, who plays Cassie’s mother Evelyn Plummer.
Claire added: “I couldn’t be happier about the acting scenes I have done recently in ‘Coronation Street’ with Dame Maureen Lipman in the Rovers, and with Alan Halsall and Jennie McAlpine in the Dobbs household.
“When I first came in to ‘Corrie’, I did a 14-page scene with Maureen while my character was in hospital. Playing opposite such a phenomenal actor was a dream come true.
“The writing and direction for that episode was amazing. That is definitely one of my highlights.”
Away from the cobbles, Claire took part in ‘Dancing on Ice’ earlier this year.
She was the third celebrity voted off the ITV ice-skating show, but she had an “incredible” time in the competition.
Despite her ice exit, Claire’s stint on the show has been a positive for another reason – after she hooked up with fellow ‘Dancing on Ice’ star Ricky Hatton.
Claire and the former pro boxer appeared to confirm their romance this week when they made their red-carpet debut at the Co-Op Live arena launch in Manchester.
Ricky wrote on Instagram: “Great night with claire @claire.sweeney tonight at the pre opening of the fantastic new @thecooplive @coopuk in manchester. @officialrickastley was awesome the legend. Brill night all round with @speak3536 and denise. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Holland is desperate to make more ‘Spider-Man’ films.
The 27-year-old actor has played the web-slinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) trilogy that concluded with 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and revealed that he is hopeful of portraying the legendary superhero for some time to come.
Speaking to Deadline at the Sands International Film Festival in Scotland, Tom said: “The simple answer is that I’ll always want to do more ‘Spider-Man’ films.
“I owe my life and career to ‘Spider-Man’. So the simple answer is yes. I’ll always want to do more.”
However, Tom admits that there is a caveat as a story for a potential fourth movie simply has to be right because there is “a legacy to protect” following the success of the trilogy that he led.
The ‘Uncharted’ star said: “We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.”
Holland continued: “This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creative so early. It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning. It’s just a really fun stage for me. Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not overdoing the same things.”
It could be a while before Tom appears as Spidey again, however, as he has several projects in the pipeline now that the Hollywood strikes have come to an end.
He said: “We’re figuring it out. We’re at that stage where it’s post-strike, so we’re waiting for those scripts to come in.
“We’re giving the writers the time they need to hit the ground running. But I’ve got a few projects that I’m really excited about and scripts are coming in now and they’re great. I read something the other day that absolutely blew my mind.”
