Chris Hemsworth felt ‘reinvigorated’ by Furiosa role

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hemsworth felt “reinvigorated” by his role in ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’.
The ‘Thor’ star went straight into filming the ‘Fury Road’ prequel after suffering a back injury while making ‘Extraction 2′ and didn’t have time to have surgery to fix the problem but he threw himself into the project and it made him feel better.
He told Vanity Fair: “I said, ‘Look, I don’t have a choice [about filming with the injury]’. And as soon as I got to rehearsals, everything lifted. I just got reinvigorated. Suffering without a purpose is awful. Suffering with purpose can be rejuvenating and replenishing.
“I’d grown so tired of myself, and now I had to lose myself in a character.”
During the interview Chris admitted he also experienced a crisis of confidence in his Hollywood career – fearing he was not winning the roles he wanted – but the ‘Mad Max’ film helped soothe his fears.
Speaking about his career woes, Chris explained: “I was worried about everything. Nothing was as enjoyable as it once was, or I had imagined it was. I was making back-to-back movies and doing the press tours, and I was married and had three young kids, and it was all happening at the same time in a very short window.
“You’re sort of just running on fumes, and then you’re showing up to something with little in the tank and you start to pick things apart: Why am I doing this film? Why isn’t this script better? Why didn’t that director call me for that or why didn’t I get considered for this role? Why don’t I get the call-up from Scorsese or Tarantino? I had begun to take it all too serious and too personal.”
However, he loved being involved with the ‘Mad Max’ world. He added: “I came out of it [a screening of ‘Fury Road’] and called my agent. I haven’t been able to completely immerse myself in a film as a fan for years because I’ve seen behind the curtain and the magic is gone.
“This is the first film in years where I felt 100 percent involved in the experience as a true fan.”

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence no longer planning sister comedy

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence’s long-awaited sister comedy is unlikely to ever come to fruition.
The two actresses had revealed in 2015 they were writing a screenplay for a movie in which they’d play sisters but now the ‘Trainwreck’ star thinks too much time has passed for the project to work.
Speaking to Variety for their Power of Women issue, she said: “I don’t think it will ever happen. It was just, like, life kept going. My family was going through a rough time. I don’t want to say any more than that.”
Jennifer, 33, agreed: “Now that we’re older, a sister comedy might not resonate as much.”
But the pair still want to do something together.
Amy, 42, said: “The way we’re hoping our careers go, we might do something with more grit and teeth.”
Her friend added: “We have every intention of working together.”
Coming up for Amy is the Adam Sandler-produced ‘Kinda Pregnant’, and she has high expectations for the movie, which has wrapped filming but doesn’t yet have a confirmed release date.
The actress – who wrote the script – said: “I’m striving for it to be one of the 10 funniest movies of my lifetime.
“I think it’s going to be as funny as Trainwreck.”
Amy’s last two movies, 2017’s ‘Snatched’ and 2018’s ‘I Feel Pretty’ were both poorly received, and part of the few projects which she didn’t write herself.
Not naming the films outright, she said: “I’ve done projects that weren’t the vision I had for something.”
The comic – who has four-year-old son Gene with husband Chris Fischer – is also kept busy with her TV show ‘Life + Beth’, which she writes, directs and produces, as well as stars in, and she thinks it has taught her a lot.
She said: “This is a very different project for me, because I wear so many hats.
“I’m learning more and getting better at it, and it makes me feel like I’m on the right path.”

Ryan Gosling hails stunt performers as unsung heroes

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Gosling thinks stunt performers are the unsung heroes of the film industry.
The 43-year-old actor stars alongside Emily Blunt in ‘The Fall Guy’ – which is loosely based on a TV series about stunt performers – and Ryan has stressed their importance to the movie business.
He told the BBC: “They dress like us, they do the dangerous things for us. They take the hits for us, they put themselves in harm’s way for us.
“They play our characters as well, they’re actors too, in the same union. But they hide their face and disappear into the shadows and everyone pretends they weren’t there.
“The better they are at their job, the more they disappear in a way. It ends now. We’re flipping the script.”
Ryan admires the courageous attitude of stunt performers.
The actor explained: “They risk more than anyone. Their work is an art form, it’s designed just as much as make-up and costumes or anything else.”
Emily, 41, also believes that stunt performers are a hugely important part of the movie business.
The actress explained: “They’ve trained for this, they have courage beyond words and I think because there is an innate humility with stunt performers, they don’t feel the need to broadcast what they do. But I think it’s time that we do.”
Meanwhile, Ryan recently revealed that he won’t direct another film until his kids are older.
The actor – who Esmeralda, nine, and Amada, seven, with his partner Eva Mendes – told The Sunday Times newspaper: “I’m up for it … But directing takes so much time. And, right now, my kids are so little – it’s really 24 hours for us at home right now.
“So, yes, in the future, but right now, my choices are more about what’s great for my family in terms of my experience of making this movie.”

Josh Brolin wanted to be in Deadpool and Wolverine

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Brolin “so wanted” to be in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
The 56-year-old actor previously played Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’, and Josh has revealed that he would’ve loved to have reprised the role for the new Marvel movie.
He told ThePlaylist: “I so wanted to be in that movie.”
Josh relished playing Cable in the 2018 movie. But the Hollywood star admitted that he doesn’t understand the inner workings of Marvel.
The veteran actor – who starred alongside Ryan Reynolds, Zazie Beetz and Morena Baccarin in ‘Deadpool 2’ – explained: “[Marvel] is a more complex labyrinth than ‘Outer Range’ will ever be, my friend. And I will never know where that went or what that is or what I’m involved with or what I’m not involved with – the MCU being involved now.
“Cable was a lot of fun. I really liked doing that role. That was a lot of fun.”
Despite this, Josh doesn’t feel any bitterness towards anybody connected to ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
The actor admitted that he’s a huge fan of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
Josh said: “Hugh, I’m absolutely in love with.
“I know Ryan now, and I’ve met Hugh a couple of times, and I think when he did ‘Logan’ – forget it!
“I mean, Scott Frank, who wrote it, is a good friend of mine and I just think the coming together of [these characters] is just fantastic. And Hugh, I don’t know how old Hugh is now – is he 56, 57? I mean, seriously, the dude doesn’t age. So, yeah. I’m a big fan of his.”

Corrie star Jack Carrol explains why it was a ‘dream come true’ in joining the soap

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Carroll says that joining ‘Coronation Street’ was a “dream come true”.
Th 25-year-old actor stars as Bobby Crawford on the ITV1 soap opera and explained that being able to join such iconic characters on set of the show – which has been running since December 1960 – has just been “fab” since the start.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, he explained: “It’s just like a dream come true because obviously it’s been in the corner of our living room for a lot of years. There’s a joy that comes with walking onto those sets that I hope will never leave me. Barbara [Knox], who plays Rita and Bill [Roache], it’s just fab, ”
The character of Bobby was introduced as the long-lost nephew of established character Carla Connor (Alison King) and noted that it had ben good to develop a “shorthand” with his co-star after she had taken him under her wing at the start of filming.
He added: “Ali has just been absolutely fantastic. It’s been nice to have that. My first scenes with her so it’s been with her so it’s been nice to develop that shorthand. The on-screen Bobby/Carla dynamic has been mimicked with me and Ali.”
Jack – who was born with cerebral palsy – shot to fame on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ more than a decade ago and thinks that the “great thing” is that writers of the soap have been able to incorporate his disability without making it the main focus of the story.
“I think that’s the great thing that ‘Corrie’ has done and what I’ve done in my own writing and my own work. Disability is a facet of the character but it’s not the defining feature and it kind of fades into the background the more that you get to know the character. It’s not a conscious thing on my part and it’s probably not a conscious thing on behalf of the audience, but if you can kind of smuggle that in subconsciously then that’s the way to do it.”

Joaquin Phoenix ‘didn’t belong’ in Doctor Strange

OHMYGOSSIP — Joaquin Phoenix “didn’t really belong” in ‘Doctor Strange’.
The 49-year-old actor was once eyed to play the lead role in the Marvel movie – but director Scott Derrickson now admits that Benedict Cumberbatch is much more suited to the part.
Scott, 57, told SlashFilm: “I met with a bunch of actors, and Joaquin was the one that I spent the most time with.
“As we continued to talk, it became clear to me that Joaquin didn’t really belong in that movie and probably never belonged in the MCU.
“He’s a very specific guy with very specific goals as an actor, and a very specific way of performing. I think it became clear to both of us that this might not be a good fit, really is what it came down to.”
Scott “spent a couple of long afternoons” with Joaquin, but Benedict was always his number one choice for the role.
The director – whose other credits include ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose’ and ‘Sinister’ – shared: “I spent a couple of long afternoons with him and really was really impressed with him personally and his thought process.
“This is what I’ll say: I think he was giving, I think he was opening his mind to the possibility. I think he was investigating the possibility.
“What happened, just to be clear, we offered the movie to Benedict. I wanted Benedict. That was my choice for the role.
“I flew all the way to London to try to talk him into doing it.”

Chris Packham bashes ‘environmental vandal’ Heineken for chopping down 300-acre orchard

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Packham has blasted Heineken for chopping down a 300-acre orchard.
The 62-year-old TV star, who is best known for presenting ‘Winterwatch’, was left furious after the beverage company’s subsidiary Bulmers uprooted thousands of trees in Penrhos Orchard – which is located on the Offa’s Dyke path in Monmouthshire, south Wales – after overestimating demand for its drinks.
Chris told The Times newspaper: “What a tragically sad story and a story of abject short-sightedness.
“They could have offered the land for sale with the trees on it.
“It could have been turned into a glamping site, a leisure resource, or given to a local community group.”
Heineken – which plans to sell the land – emphasised there was a “huge surplus” of bittersweet apples that “have no other use than creating cider”, and insisted the company had conformed to the Wildlife Act.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the beverage conglomerate said: “In order to make best use of the land to grow other crops, the bush orchards had to be removed.
“All the wood is shredded for biomass. The bushes were removed in line with the Wildlife Act.”
However, the ‘Autumnwatch’ presenter insisted this was “almost irrelevant” considering the country was in the middle of a “biodiversity crisis”.
He explained to Sky News: “In a biodiversity crisis, I would say it’s bordering on unethical and certainly immoral because resources like that ought to be passed on to people who can use them to enrich wildlife and human life.”
The TV presenter added he was now abstaining from all Heineken products due to their actions.
He said: “I’m not drinking any more of it, because I just think we want companies in our lives that are looking after our planet and our future and our children’s future.
“They had an opportunity to do that and they’ve just squandered it.
“I think that with these big companies, the only way [can make our voice heard] is to boycott them, hit them in the pocket. Because I do think, I genuinely think, it’s tragic what they’ve done when we could have helped to tackle the  biodiversity crisis, the climate emergency, physical and mental health issues.
“All of these could have been helped just by them saying, ‘Listen, we’re not going to use it again, why don’t we give it over to the local community?’”

Jeremy Clarkson’s councillor quits over Clarkson’s Farm death threats

OHMYGOSSIP — A councillor at ends with Jeremy Clarkson over his Diddly Squat farm has quit after he was bombarded with death threats from angry ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ fans.
West Oxfordshire District Council’s Dean Temple, 46, represented the Chadlington and Churchill ward – where the ex-‘Top Gear’ presenter’s farm is based – and had opposed several of Jeremy’s plans, such as his proposition to set up a restaurant where he would sell local produce.
Now, Dean has left his position, and has admitted his decision to do so was “one hundred per cent” influenced by the abuse he was getting from furious ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ fans.
According to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: “All of a sudden I was getting calls, death threats and from all over the world.”
The former councillor claimed that ‘The Grand Tour’ host, 64, had purposefully “engineered” battles with the board in an effort to make “good telly”.
Jeremy was once against caught in a face-off with the council in December 2023 over plans to plant more trees in his Diddly Squat farm car park.
He wrote in his column for The Sunday Times: “I recently received a missive from West Oxfordshire District Council telling me that my plans to plant some trees must be scaled back.
“I’m not making that up, by the way.”
Currently, the TV star is gearing up for the release of season three of ‘Clarkson’s Farm’, and has teased the “heartbreaking” moment where a piglet he and his girlfriend Lisa Hogan helped rear.
Speaking at a launch event for the Amazon Prime programme, he said: “It was just a heartbreaking time.
“I’d never, ever seen Lisa cry, not once, until all this started and was unfolding. It was terrible.
“It is weird, because you love them and you help birth them and you feed and nurture and care for them. I mean, you don’t say, ‘Let’s buy some pigs and hope they die’.
“I’ve always liked pigs. My mother used to buy me toy pigs every Christmas and birthday into my twenties, and I thought it would be fun to have them — then they all just died in alarming numbers.”

“If I was able to help just one lady, then sharing my picture was worth it.
“I got my recall while on holiday and I immediately cleared my diary to allow for the appointment. I urge all women to do the same.

Ncuti Gatwa joined by Strictly stars for Doctor Who dancing scene

OHMYGOSSIP — Ncuti Gatwa will be joined by Johannes Radebe and Shirley Ballas for an episode of ‘Doctor Who’.
The second episode – which is called ‘The Devil’s Chord’ – will see the Time Lord, played by Ncuti, 31, and his sidekick Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson, 19) cross paths and bust out their best movies with the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ stars.
During a Q and A session about the episode – which will air after the ‘Space Babies’ episode – Millie said: “I remembered reading ‘The Devil’s Chord’ and getting the biggest goosebumps at the end.
“It just seems like this incredible episode, and I was like, ‘Wait, we dance with Johannes and Shirley from ‘Strictly’? Ok. Next page.’
“It’s just like the craziest thing. And it was crazy to film it.
“And, I mean, that day we were dancing with them, we had a ball, We had so much fun.”
During the episode, the pair travel back in time to the 1960’s in what is a fun nod to The Beatles.
Ncuti added: “I loved ‘The Devil’s Chord’ episode so much. [I] loved reading it and then working and shooting it.
“We had an amazing choreographer who whipped us into shape with such kindness. He made the choreography accessible, so we had a lot of help and a lot of fun.”
Millie was previously rumoured to be making an earlier-than-expected exit from the BBC programme and would be replaced by ‘Andor’ actress Varada Sethu as the Doctor’s new companion, but showrunner Russell T. Davies insisted the story was nothing but hearsay.
He told SFX Magazine: “[Millie is] not leaving. Not at all.
“We were ordered for two years of a series off Disney, and we’re delivering two years, and the Ruby Sunday story literally spans those two years.
“We are planning [to] shoot the [series] finale in which Ruby has the most magnificent scenes, and Millie, it’s some of [her] most challenging material yet, isn’t it? It will all make sense once you see it play out.”

The 63-year-old star serves as a Chaser on the ITV1 teatime game show alongside Anne Hegerty, Jenny Ryan, Darragh Ennis, Mark Labbett, and Paul Sinha that sees a team of up to four players try to win a big sum of money by taking on one of Britain’s finest quizzers but admitted that he will always go to see his opponents after the recording whether they win or lose.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, he explained: ” As far as we’re concerned, we play to win. And my best victory is when I win by about a second and I love that.
“I will go and see the contestants afterwards whether they win or lose. I will always say if they’ve beat me then it’s fair play, but if they don’t then I’ll say ‘You came here with nothing, you’ll leave with nothing!'”
The barrister is also part of ‘Beat the Chasers’ – which sees all six Chasers get together to take on members of the public in head-to-head challenges – and explained that they always “win or lose” together on the show even though some are “quicker” than him at answering questions on the spin-off of the hit quiz show.
He said: “Especially when we do ‘Beat the Chasers’, that’s the first time we get together, the team. Sometimes, we don’t get to see each other on a regular basis and it’s wonderful that we all come together as a formidable force. There are certain Chasers who are quicker than others, I’m like Timmy the tortoise with pressing the buzzer, but we win and we lose together.”

Dannii Minogue learned new ‘lesbian lingo’ on I Kissed A Girl

OHMYGOSSIP — Dannii Minogue learned a string of new “lesbian lingo” during her time presenting ‘I Kissed A Girl’.
The 52-year-old singer will be playing Cupid in the new BBC Three dating show – which sees 10 women try to find love – and admitted she had discovered a myriad of new terms used among the lesbian community during her time filming the programme.
Speaking to the BBC, she said: “I was on a learning curve with the boys, but with the girls, I actually needed a glossary of lesbian lingo to decode some of the conversations.
“In the best possible way, their language cuts to the chase – and I was happily catching up. You will know what I mean when you hear fun descriptions like ‘golden retriever’ and ‘black cat’.”
The ‘All I Wanna Do’ singer added she loved working on the show, and described the girls as “so much fun”.
She said: “The girls are so much fun. They wore their hearts on their sleeve and they did not hold back – with their affections as well as their opinions.
“They are so diverse in their personalities and in what they are looking for in a partner. Just remember the old saying, ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’, as each episode reveals more and more about their vulnerability underneath the exterior.”
The ‘I Begin to Wonder’ hitmaker added that it was the contestants’ “genuine search for love” that she felt made the programme unique.
She explained: “The girls and their genuine search for love, with inhibitions left at home, we watch it all unfold in the sun-soaked romantic Italian landscape. In my role as ‘Cupid’ I always hope that an attraction sparks with such intensity that it leads to a lasting relationship – but my lips are sealed as to whether that happens this series.
“One thing I can tell you is that it was the ultimate lesbian summer holiday that the girls loved so much – I got the feeling they didn’t want it to end. I am so so proud of these girls and can’t wait for viewers to discover this groundbreaking and hugely entertaining series.”

Vanessa Feltz announces big career move

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Feltz is joining LBC Radio.
The 62-year-old broadcaster often appears on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ and hosts her own show on TalkTV in the afternoons but admitted she was “powerless to resist” when an offer came in from London-based station.
She said: “After a long and passionate courtship, I’ve finally succumbed to the allure of LBC. Actually I was powerless to resist. Global’s dynamism is mesmerising and it is THE high octane station from which to broadcast, in this riveting election year. I can’t wait to join the Global family and get cracking. Brace yourself for May 4th – May the fourth be with you!””
The move comes as a shakeup for the network, which will see Sangita Myska step down from the station after almost two years on air.
LBC’s Senior Managing Editor added: “We’d like to thank Sangita for her fantastic contribution to LBC and we wish her every success in the future.”
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star has been a familiar face on screen for decades but recently revealed that despite her regular aTV appearances, she would never go on a celebrity edition of ‘Naked Attaction’ because she cannot bear the thought of stripping down.
Writing for The Sun newspaper, Vanessa – split from Ben Ofoedu in 2022 after 16 years together when she discovered he had been unfaithful – said:”Disliking the show does not make me a prude and I don’t think ‘Naked Attraction’ is immoral.
“Anna Richardson is a very good presenter and is a pleasure to watch and listen to. It’s also slickly produced, fast-paced and well put together.
“So if you like it, I don’t object to it at all. But when you walk down the street, would you really like to see everyone’s genitalia and whether they’re big or small, or pierced or unpierced?
“My answer is: I really wouldn’t. Every now and then, a celebrity version of ‘Naked Attraction’ is mooted.
“According to host Anna, Duncan James once told her he’d be willing to expose his bits on screen, should the call come.
“If they asked me to appear, with regret, I’d have to turn them down.”

‘He’d be a great shout!’ Martin Compston tips former EastEnders star to join Line of Duty

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Compston wants Danny Dyer to join ‘Line of Duty’.
The 39-year-old star – who plays Steve Arnott in the hit BBC show – thinks the former ‘EastEnders’ star is a “wonderful actor” and would be a top addition to the cast.
He is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “[Danny] would be a great shout [as a ‘bent copper’ on the show].
“Danny is something else, honestly, he is one of our treasures. He is a wonderful actor – it would be good to see [him] in there.”
While Martin could be facing off against Danny in ‘Line of Duty’ one day, he will be opposing the ‘Football Factory’ star in this year’s ‘Soccer Aid’ first.
Martin admitted when he first started playing in the charity football match it was all about lining up alongside legends of the game, but the experience now means a lot more to him after he went to see the “incredible” work UNICEF do with the money raised from ‘Soccer Aid’.
He added: “For me it was about being able to play in these incredible stadiums and meet the icons of the game.
“It has changed for me over the years, I have been lucky enough to work with UNICEF and go out to see the incredible work that they do first-hand.”
This year’s match will ‘I’m A Celebrity’ champion Sam Thompson, Danny’s former ‘EastEnders’ co-star Bobby Brazier and ‘The Crown’ actress Erin Doherty make their ‘Soccer Aid’ debuts.
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard will return to Stamford Bridge to make his ‘Soccer Aid’ debut when he manages England alongside his uncle and fellow footballer manager Harry Redknapp.
Current Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino will take charge of the Soccer Aid World XI for the second year running.

EastEnders’ Jamie Borthwick reveals painful injury from running London Marathon: ‘It’s not good’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Borthwick ended up with a painful foot injury after running the London Marathon.
The 29-year-old actor appeared alongside his ‘EastEnders’ co-star Emma Barton in character as Jay Brown and Honey Mitchell at the annual road race in some special scenes for the show, but he is now suffering from Plantar fasciitis – an inflammation of the tissue used during walking.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: “My right foot, second toe. It’s not good. It’s not pretty. I’ve got Plantar fasciitis. The soles of my feet are pretty sore. But we’re nominating some of our castmates to do it next year, they don’t know about it yet!”
The soap stars originally completed the run in 2019 as part of Babs’ Army, when they ran in aid of Dementia UK to honour their co-star Dame Barbara Windsor, who passed away from the disease the following year.
This time round, Emma admitted that there was a point where they “hit a wall” but they just had to find the impetus to get through it.
She said: “Scott [Mitchell] organised a group of us in 2019 for Dame Barbara Windsor. We did it together but we’re not runners, Jamie and I. We didn’t do too well last time, we both got knee injuries but they paired us up again!
“I think that was the drive – we did hit a wall by mile 19, 23 and 24 were tough for both for us. But we just knew that we had to do it. It’s quite a risk because … you just don’t know if it’s gonna work. But we were OK!”
The long-running BBC soap opera normally films six to eight weeks in advance, but to capture footage at the race on Sunday (21.04.24), film crews had to rush back to the studios in Hertfordshire to edit it in time for the following night’s episode.
Jamie added: “We had our four-camera crew set up at the four different areas and they shot our footage and were straight off back to Elstree into post [production] ready for the next day. They’ve done an amazing job getting it in.”
