George Miller: I never imagined making Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

OHMYGOSSIP — George Miller “never anticipated” making ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’.
The acclaimed filmmaker created the ‘Mad Max franchise more than 40 years ago, and George has been amazed by its longevity.
George, 79 – who has directed the latest movie in the money-spinning franchise – told Entertainment Weekly: “Here I am making another ‘Mad Max’ movie, which I never anticipated after the first one … I mean, as John Lennon said, life is what happens when you’re making other plans.”
The director also revealed that he’s learned some important lessons from the earlier films.
He said: “‘Mad Max 2’ came about because of all the things I learned from ‘Mad Max’: not only how to make films but, despite the difficulty I had in making it, why it was so successful.
“Why did the Japanese respond to it as a Samurai movie? Why did the French call it a Western on wheels? Why did the Scandinavians see it as a lone Viking [film], and so on. And I realised that, inadvertently, we’d tapped into some sort of archetype.”
Chris Hemsworth stars alongside Anya Taylor-Joy in the new movie, and the 40-year-old actor has revealed why he jumped at the chance to star in ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’.
Chris said: “I’ve heard people talk about how you want to choose the roles that scare you. And, yeah, it’s sort of an actor-y thing to say. But I think it was a good thing. I think it forces you to dig that bit deeper. And the challenges, the adversity – that’s where the growth occurs.
“I feel like I learned more on this film than anything I’d ever done because of what was asked of all of us and how challenging it was, in a wonderful way.”

The 30-year-old actor has portrayed Vinny Panesar in the BBC One show since 2019, but revealed he has gone back to his “theatre roots” for a new project, which sees him reunite with ex-‘EastEnders’ co-star Milly Zero.
He wrote on Instagram: “Back to the theatre roots and training that creative muscle with the most talented ensemble @milly_zero #ThePword #VeraVera (sic)”
It comes after Shiv revealed in 2021 that he suffers from imposter syndrome, but he encouraged others to “dream big” and “take ownership” of their lives in an inspirational post.
He wrote on Instagram: “I fall into a category of imposter syndrome as many actors do. An anxiety of wanting to be “good,” a fear of failure. It’s taken me a long time to start trusting that curiosity of mine that playfulness and energy to embrace “me.”
Nothing is wrong or right but choices you’ve made by listening. Sounds easy on paper but requires commitment and discipline a willingness to keep exploring. Train that instrument of yours. Be bold. Emmerdale’s Dean Andrews married wife on 60th birthday after ultimatum

OHMYGOSSIP — Dean Andrews married his wife on his 60th birthday – after she issued him with an ultimatum.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actor has revealed he and Helen Bowen-Green tied the knot on his 60th birthday last August, after 12 years together, because she had previously told Dean she wouldn’t marry anyone over 60, and he fortunately managed to get the nuptials in just in time.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “We never found time to get wed.
“And then Helen said, ‘I won’t marry someone over 60.’
“So I thought, ‘I better get that sorted.’ People did say, ‘Deano, why get married at 60?’
“But I’m happy to have found love with such a wonderful woman and [wanted to] celebrate that.”
It’s not the only time the ‘Life on Mars’ star has got married in recent years.
In 2022, his ‘Emmerdale’ character Will Taylor wed legendary Dales character Kim Tate (Claire King), and he joked it is a “good thing” the 62-year-old actress and his real-life significant other “get on really well”.
Claire was even a guest at the pair’s big day.
Dean wrote on Instagram at the time: “I was hoping my two wives would be a little more upset when they found out about each other but it looks like they don’t give two hoots @hbg_indiarose #claireking @emmerdale’ (sic)”
Dean has admitted his wedding was a “brilliant day”, and he recalled meeting Helen at a mutual friend’s 40th birthday.
He added: “She had recently separated and I had also recently separated.
“I saw her at this party and thought she was a rather attractive lady, so it wasn’t too difficult for me to ask if she’d like a drink.”

Ant and Dec’s ‘secret TV project’ after Saturday Night Takeaway’s rest

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant and Dec are working on a secret TV project.
The pair’s production company Mitre Studios – which owns the trademarks for their ‘Limitless Win’ game show – are said to have trademarked the name Belta Box, which covers TV shows as well as radio and podcast episodes, and merchandise.
A TV source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Everything Ant and Dec does turns to gold and this is sure to be another success.”
Belta Box is also a reference to their hometown of Newcastle upon Tyne, because “belta” means excellent in the north east.
The pair’s Mitre Studios company also own the trademark to online show ‘Taste Mates’.
Mitre Studios said: “‘Taste Mates’ and Belta Box are digital projects that will tap into the Mitre core values of being fun and engaging.”
Ant and Dec’s latest move comes after they decided to rest their ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ show after it reached a 20th series this year.
In the series finale, Ant admitted it had been an “honour and a privilege” hosting the light entertainment programme.
Dec insisted the pair had “truly adored every second of making the show”.
The pair admitted they were embarking on a self-imposed hiatus from the show – which initially aired from 2002 to 2009, before a four-year break – to “spend some time with our family”.
In February, Ant told Fault magazine: “Part of the reason we’re pausing ‘Takeaway’ is we need a break ourselves, and we need to spend some time with our family.
“We’ve both got children that we need to spend time with for a little bit.”
Ant and his wife, Anne-Marie Corbett, have a baby on the way, and Dec has two children with his wife Ali Astall.

Ellie Leach ‘completely overwhelmed’ at Strictly tour end

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Leach felt “completely overwhelmed” when the ‘Strictly Come Dancing Live!’ tour ended.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star has admitted it was tough to “come to terms” with the end of the run of shows, after the actress and her professional partner Vito Coppola triumphed in the BBC series late last year.
Speaking on this week’s episode of reality TV show ‘Drama Queens’, in a segment filmed in February, she said: “Finishing ‘Strictly’ and finishing the tour, I am completely overwhelmed.
“I’m kind of having to come to terms with the fact that ‘Strictly’ is over; it’s done, and I’m not going to be dancing anymore.”
Ellie admitted she found it hard to be away from her family and friends while on the ‘Strictly’ tour, and she has since gone on to appear in stage production ‘Cluedo 2’, which is touring the country.
She added: “For me, being away from home and being away from my family is hard.
“This is my life these days, living out of hotel rooms and I don’t think that’s going to be stopping anytime soon.
An emotional Ellie added: “It was so, so, nice to be with everyone during the tour, but it’s not the same as going home and having a hug off your mum, which is something I’ve not done for a while.”
Ellie made her stage debut in the UK tour dramatisation of the classic mystery board game, after taking over the role of Miss Scarlett from former ‘Coronation Street’ co-star Helen Flanagan, who had withdrawn due to “medical reasons”.
After the part was confirmed, Ellie said: “After an incredible year, I’m so excited to join the cast of ‘Cluedo 2’.
“I am delighted to make my stage acting debut as Miss Scarlett and I can’t wait to work with Jason and the talented cast.”

Simon Cowell keeps fit with backstage push-ups

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell keeps fit while filming ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ by doing push-ups backstage.
The 64-year-old TV mogul has been embracing a new health and fitness regime and it’s been revealed that he keeps himself busy during filming by working out whenever he has some free time once the cameras stop rolling.
His ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ co-star Amanda Holden told The Sun newspaper: “He has been doing his press-ups backstage. Simon’s impressive, he’s got some guns …
“He’s embracing his sporty side this series. He’s been turning up in tracksuit bottoms and a compression top. But the compression top shows off his best bits. I think he’s quite proud of his pecs and his guns. Simon’s got the pecs factor.”
Simon added: “We all have our things we do before the show, right? I just do tons of push-ups every day to keep fit. We are kind of hanging around a lot backstage, so if I’ve got 10 minutes, I’ll just do a few push-ups.”
The show returned to TV last month with Amanda and Simon on the panel alongside Alesha Dixon, 45, and 68-year-old Bruno Tonioli.
Alesha recently revealed “eight or nine” Golden Buzzer acts went through, despite the rules stating the judges are only meant to have one each and Amanda explained it’s been a change for this series.
During an appearance on ‘Good Morning Britain’, presenter Adil Ray, 49, asked Amanda: “What’s been going on with the Golden Buzzer this series? Is there a bit of a change or have you been buzzing more than once? You’re breaking all the rules!”
Amanda replied: “We’ve said this week, the rule book has definitely gone out of the window. But Simon always said there are no rules on any of the shows he’s done, that’s probably why I’m still there!
“(There were) nine Golden Buzzers in total. I think Bruno set the precedent last year when he just kept on pressing it. There was so much talent when we were in the southern part of England and Simon was so upset that, when we went to Manchester, there wouldn’t be any more Golden Buzzers.
“He said, ‘Everyone gets another Golden Buzzer – we cannot go to Manchester with no Golden Buzzers’. So we had more and it was brilliant!”

Paul Walter Hauser cast in The Fantastic Four

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Walter Hauser has signed up for ‘The Fantastic Four’.
Deadline confirmed the 37-year-old actor, who is known for playing Stingray in ‘Cobra Kai’, will be joining the upcoming Marvel movie in an unknown role.
Paul – who was also recently revealed to be appearing in Paramount’s ‘Naked Gun’ reboot – will be starring alongside Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (the Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (the Thing) and Julia Garner (the Silver Surfer) in the superhero flick, which is expected to hit cinemas on 25 July 2025 – marking the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Six.
As work begins on the picture, Ebon recently revealed he and his co-stars are getting to know each other.
During an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, he told the host: “Pedro started a group text a couple days ago. I have his number, so it says Pedro Pascal, and then there’s two +44 [the U.K. country code] numbers.
“I don’t know which one’s Vanessa and which one is Joseph. But everybody said something! Everyone’s put a little image or a sticker or a gif or something out there, so people are invested, I guess? No one’s being coy! Everyone showed up. It’s nice, it’s nice.”
Meanwhile, Joseph dismissed the idea of superhero fatigue setting in with general audiences, and insisted he had faith director Matt Shakman will deliver an enjoyable movie.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, he said: “I think that with the story of ‘The Fantastic Four’, it feels like we want to get this right. There are aspects of it that are very different to other Marvel films. That felt very compelling to me. And again, going back to who’s involved, Matt, of course, the director, I think is brilliant, and the cast, and I’ve read it and the script is brilliant. It’s really brilliant. I’m delighted to have this opportunity.
“Superhero movies are movies about people. And if we’re invested in the people and the characters and the peril and the spectacle, then that’s why people go to the theatres to watch films. We’re not just in a penny; we’re in for a pound with this one. We’re going to go for it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rosamund Pike has joined the cast of ‘Now You See Me 3’.
The ‘Saltburn’ actress’ specific role in Lionsgate’s upcoming third installment of the magician heist series is being kept under wraps, but movie bosses teased she has a “pivotal” part in the production.

Bruno Tonioli reveals intense backstage workout regime: ‘Brucie was doing this in his 80s!’

The 68-year-old star explained that on his days off, he has a ritual that lasts around 90 minutes but if he is needed on set then he still manage to fit in up to “200 bicycle kicks” and the plank, as he compared himself to his late ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ co-star Bruce Forsyth.
He told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “I have my system that works for my body, because I know how it works. When I am not working, I do about an hour-and-a-half session every day, a mixture of resistance, stretching and yoga. When I’m working, every day I do some leg exercises, about 200 bicycle kicks, on the floor. The plank, the cobra and downward dog.
“Brucie was doing stuff like this into his eighties. He looked incredible, you have to do what works for you.”
The dancer spent 15 years as a judge on ‘Strictly’ but in recent years has been searching for an act to take to the stage at the Royal Variety through ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and explained following the launch of the latest series that he was just looking for “something new” after joining Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon on the ITV1 panel.

Gavin and Stacey 2024 Christmas special confirmed

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Gavin and Stacey’ will be returning for a Christmas special this year.
The BBC Three comedy was last seen in 2019 for a festive one-off, and writers James Corden, 45, and Ruth Jones, 57, have now announced the programme will be back on the box once more for the last episode dubbed ‘Gavin and Stacey: The Finale’.
Taking to Instagram, he wrote: “It’s official! We have finished writing the last ever episode of ‘Gavin and Stacey’.
“See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James (sic).”
While unconfirmed at the moment, it is nearly certain that the cast – including Mathew Horne, Joanna Page, Larry Lamb, Alison Steadman and Rob Brydon – will be reprising their roles in what will be the final outing as their cherished characters.
Previously, it had been heavily rumoured the show would be returning for another festive one-off, and that the BBC and Netflix were caught in a fierce bidding battle for the episode, though Ruth dismissed the story as nothing but hearsay.
She told RTE Radio 1: “All I can say is, if there was something to say on that front, James and I would happily announce it, we would.
“Apparently there’s a bidding war going on between the BBC and Netflix and I love it because it says, ‘a source says’, who is this source?”
The actress theorised the story had come to fruition after she had been spotted with James in the UK after he finished his stint as the host for ‘The Late Late Show’.
She said: “Then the next thing is, ‘Oh my god they must be writing more ‘Gavin and Stacey’, which is lovely.
“It’s lovely that people are so desperate for it because imagine if it was the opposite and were like, ‘Oh, god, you’re not bringing that back again.’”
Despite denying the rumours at the time, Ruth teased she would “never say never” to penning a new ‘Gavin and Stacey’ episode.
During an appearance on BBC Radio 2’s ‘Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’, she said: “James and I think those characters exist, that they really exist, and that Nessa is still working down the slots in Barry Island at the moment, we like to think their lives are carrying on down there.”

Corrie legend Sherrie Hewson joins another soap: ‘It’s been a rollercoaster!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sherrie Hewson has joined the cast of ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 73-year-old actress famously played the role of Maureen Holdsworth in ITV1’s ‘Coronation Street’ in the 1990s but has now teamed up with Jeremy Sheffield to join the Blake family as mother and son duo Martha and Jez in the Channel 4 soap opera.
Sherrie said: “It’s been a roller coaster joining ‘Hollyoaks!’ The character is just wonderful to play. Everyone is so lovely such a great atmosphere to work in and so welcoming. We laugh a lot, what more could you ask for.”
The TV star – who will be seen as Martha for the first time in late May – is also known for her role as hotel manageress Joyce Temple-Savage in the long-running sitcom ‘Benidorm’ and also had a 14-year stint as part of the ‘Loose Women’ panel from 2003 until 2017.
Meanwhile, former ‘Holby City’ actor Jeremy, 58, previously played the evil Patrick Blake until he was murdered as part of a massive twist in early 2018 and is delighted to be making a comeback as his character’s identical twin.
He said: “I’m so excited to be back in the village and have the opportunity to play a great new character.
“Jez might be Patrick’s twin but he couldn’t be more different; he’s charming, enigmatic, complex and full of mystery.
“Working with the wonderful Sherrie Hewson means we get to explore even more of the famously twisted Blake family secrets.”
The characters will be joining their on-screen family and bosses of the serial teased that there are many secrets wrapped up in the soap clan and that a shock twist is on the way with the introduction of the new members.
Hannah Cheers, executive producer of the soap, said: “To be a Blake, you must be clever, captivating and charming on the outside… and calculating, cold and cynical on the inside. With a family dynasty so rich in history, it should come as no surprise that there are still many secrets to be uncovered.
“But for Sienna, Dilly, Liberty and Maxine, what happens next is not what anyone could have expected….”

“I will admit I’m crying as I type this as I can’t believe this is even real.
“I hope you don’t mind if I just have a few days trying to figure out my life as I’m currently in a spare room with a few essentials. “I don’t know what else to say. The world got the best parts of my husband, and over time, I got a whole lot of everything else. No matter how bad it got I still apologised and still tried to fix it, because I loved my husband, very much. I just hope that by saying something, it will save it from happening to someone else in the future, or make someone else feel brave enough to speak up.
“Because, whoever you are, whatever your status, nothing gives you the right to put your hands on another person.”

Dan Stevens joins movie inspired by Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd

OHMYGOSSIP — Dan Stevens has joined the cast of the film inspired by Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd.
The 41-year-old actor is to star alongside Lily James in the untitled movie that is in pre-production ahead of filming starting this year.
It has not yet been confirmed who Dan will be playing in the film, but insiders say that he’s set to portray Wolfe Herd’s business partner.
Wolfe Herd launched the online dating site Bumble in 2014 after leaving rival Tinder in the same year due to tensions with executives.
The company went public in 2021 and made Wolfe Herd one of the youngest self-made billionaires aged 31.
She stepped down as CEO last year but left behind a massively successful app with numerous divisions that continue to thrive.
Plot details are somewhat vague as the picture is only inspired by Whitney’s life and it is not known how much it will compare to her actual story. The film is slated for release in 2025.
Rachel Lee Goldenberg is directing the movie from a script she has written with Bill Parker and Kim Caramele while Lily is serving as a producer as she looks to expand her work behind the camera.
The movie is the latest project that Stevens is attached to as it was revealed last month that he is due to appear with Al Pacino in the exorcism horror flick ‘The Ritual’.
It follows a pair of priests – one who is questioning his faith (Stevens) and another reckoning with a troubled past (Pacino) – who have to put their differences aside to save a possessed young woman through a dangerous series of exorcisms.
The flick is an authentic portrayal of Emma Schmidt, an American woman whose demonic possession concluded with harrowing exorcisms.

Abi said: “In a world of brutal break ups and tantalising make ups, the Defoe family are invited to a destination wedding of their own, promising all that audiences have grown to love about The Split. Problematic prenups, scandalous wedding crashers, and low-flying marriage proposals, as rom com meets gone wrong, in a chaotic and riotous weekend that guarantees to crack open the heart, before the last of the guests have gone home.”
The finale of series three saw Hannah (Nicola Walker) and Nathan (Stephen Mangan) attempting to divide up their twenty years as they tried to work out the possibility of having a “good divorce” and the special will pick up two years later, where the divorce lawyer and her family gather for a wedding at a magnificent vineyard, nestled in Catalonia’s wine region.

The special is being produced by SISTER for the BBC will air ahead of the forthcoming spin-off series The Split Up, which was recently announced as a six-part drama exploring the high-stakes world of Manchester’s divorce law circuit.
SISTER Co-Founder Jane Featherstone and Executive Producer Lucy Dyke said: “It is a joy to reunite with Abi and our wonderful Split team for this two-parter for the BBC One and iPlayer. We have missed the Defoe family and their messy, complex lives so we couldn’t be more excited to send them to beautiful Barcelona for a glorious, romantic weekend.
“In this chapter, Abi explores the often terrifying prospect of facing new romance after divorce and promises a rollercoaster of emotions along the way. And welcoming the brilliant Toby Stephens to our ensemble, as lawyer Archie Moore, it’s safe to say, sparks are going to fly.”
