‘We’d knock it out of the park’: Keanu Reeves wants to make third Speed film with Sandra Bullock

OHMYGOSSIP — Keanu Reeves hopes to make ‘Speed 3′ with Sandra Bullock.
The pair starred together in the hit 1994 action film which takes place on a bus that will explode if its speed drops below 50mph and Keanu thinks that the pair could return for another high-octane flick together.
The 59-year-old actor told the ’50 MPH’ podcast ahead of the original picture’s 30th anniversary next month: “I mean, you know – we’d freakin’ knock it out of the park.”
‘The Matrix’ star claimed there is “siren call” attracting him to another ‘Speed’ film and he is desperate to work with Sandra again after they last teamed up for the 2006 romance movie ‘The Lake House’.
The ‘Crash’ actress harbours a similar desire to collaborate with Keanu again before she “leaves this planet”.
Sandra, 59, said: “Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera. Are we in wheelchairs or with walkers? Maybe.”
The pair did not work together on the disastrous 1997 sequel ‘Speed 2: Cruise Control’ – which bombed both critically and commercially – and Reeves admits that he declined the chance to reprise his part as LAPD bomb disposal officer Jack Traven as he “didn’t respond” to the ocean-set story.
Speaking on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ in 2021, he recalled: “At the time I didn’t respond to the script. I really wanted to work with Sandra Bullock, I loved playing Jack Traven, and I loved ‘Speed’, but an ocean liner?
“I had nothing against the artists involved, but at the time I had the feeling it just wasn’t right.”

Ariana Grande looks back at ’emotional’ first day on Wicked set

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande says the first day on the set of ‘Wicked’ was one of the most “emotional” experiences of her life.
The 30-year-old star plays Galinda the Good Witch in Jon M. Chu’s upcoming two-part movie adaptation of the popular stage musical and recalled how she was moved to tears as she embraced the director and her co-star Cynthia Erivo for the first time.
Speaking to Variety at the Met Gala on Monday (06.05.24) night, Ariana said: “My first day on set for ‘Wicked’ was the most emotional day of my life. All I remember was holding hands with Cynthia and Jon and crying. And (Jon) saying, ‘Welcome to ‘Wicked”.”
The ‘We Can’t Be Friends’ singer forged a close bond with Erivo – who stars as fellow witch Elphaba – during their work on the project and it meant that chemistry between the pair came naturally.
Ariana said: “She is really truly my sister. We really found in each other things we needed. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
Grande also waxed lyrical about Cynthia’s “otherworldly” performance in the movie – the first part of which is set to be released in November.
The star said: “She humanises (Elphaba) in such an extraordinary way and brings her to life. Her eyes, her hands, it’s otherworldly.”
Erivo was also complimentary of her co-star, particularly in terms of how she “wears her heart on her sleeve constantly”.
The 37-year-old actress said: “She is so open and generous with her performance that it is so easy to be in a scene with her. You look at her eyes and you know she is telling the truth.”
Filmmaker Chu recently claimed that “destiny” enabled him to cast Cynthia and Ariana in his movie.
The ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ director said at CinemaCon last month: “When you find those two, you know it’s destiny.”

W1A spin-off in the works

OHMYGOSSIP — A ‘W1A’ spin-off is in the works.
The mockumentary series saw Hugh Bonneville portray executive Ian Fletcher alongside Jessica Hynes as his hapless publicist Siobhan Sharpe and ran for three series from 2014 to 2017, but Sarah Parish – who played Anna Rampton – has revealed a new series is being written which will take the ‘Downton Abbey’ star’s alter ego out of the BBC and into a new job at football’s governing body FIFA.
Speaking on ‘The Gaby Roslin Podcast’, Sarah said: “It’s being written — maybe I’m talking out of turn, I don’t know.
“John Morton, the writer, is so brilliant and so fabulous at picking out the subtleties of the horror of working in an institution that big, but he did it brilliantly. It was a joyful thing to be in.
“So Ian Fletcher will continue. And I thought probably Siobhan could go with him because wherever Ian goes, Siobhan goes as well and does all his PR, really badly.
“So I’m hoping that those two characters will have another rebirth in another series.”
‘W1A’ was itself an offshoot of ‘Twenty Twelve’, a satire of the organisation of the London Olympics.
In the original show, Ian was Head of the Olympic Deliverance Commission before landing his ‘W1A’ job of Head of Values at the BBC.
‘W1A’ also starred Jason Watkins, Monica Dolan, and Hugh Skinner and was narrated by David Tennant, but it is unclear who will have a role in the new show.
Hugh has a busy time ahead because as well as the proposed spin-off, he’s also set for a second series of ‘The Gold’, and it was recently claimed a seventh season of ‘Downton Abbey’ is in the works.
The acclaimed period drama, which also starred Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael and Dame Maggie Smith, ran from 2010 to 2015, and received two movie spin-offs in 2019 and 2022.
A source told the Daily Mail newspaper: “Filming has been going on for a few weeks now, it is all very, very secret. There are people working on it who have never seen secrecy like it.
“Those working on the set have been made to sign non-disclosure agreements so that they don’t give the game away but there is a lot of excitement at the return of ‘Downton’.
“It was such a huge success before and there are so many more stories to be told, it seemed such a shame not to be able to make more of it but they’ve made it happen.”

Jesy Nelson no longer expected to appear in Bear Hunt

OHMYGOSSIP — Jesy Nelson reportedly failed to strike a deal with Netflix to appear on ‘Bear Hunt’.
The former Little Mix singer was expected to head to Costa Rica to film the new series – which will see famous faces trained by survival expert Bear Grylls embark on a series of challenges – this month, however, it appears she hasn’t made the final line-up.
An insider told The Sun: “Jesy had meetings with producers who were casting for the show, but in the end they couldn’t come to a deal so Jesy won’t be in the final line-up.
“It will be a real blow to Little Mix fans who were excited to see her back in the public eye, and it would have been a huge global gig for Jesy, but bosses met with loads of big celeb names and not everyone ends up in the confirmed mix.
“The show is set to be a huge hit though and Netflix are ploughing loads of money into it so it’s sure to get another series – don’t be surprised if Jesy ends up in the line-up for the second season.”
It would have been a springboard for the 32-year-old singer to relaunch her solo career.
A source previously told The Sun on Sunday newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Casting agents have approached Jesy to see if she would be interested and have deep pockets to ensure it’s worth her time financially. She has a huge fanbase and the reality challenge series would be the perfect comeback for her.
“Filming takes place for a few weeks so she won’t even be away from home and her creature comforts for too long.
“Jesy will be incredible.”
It was previously revealed Netflix planned to spare no expense when it came to securing bookings for the Holly Willoughby-hosted show.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “On similar celebrity-led challenge shows like ‘Strictly’ and ‘I’m a Celeb’, the line-ups often vary from little-known people to established stars.
“Netflix are determined their collection will be largely killer, with very little filler. They’re not scrimping on paying six-figure fees and aren’t afraid to cough up more for the biggest names.
“They’ll be shelling out an eight-figure sum in all, so the cast will be one of the most expensive in reality TV history.”
Other names attached include Spice Girl Mel B, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge Shirley Ballas, former Saturdays star Una Healy, rugby star Danny Cipriani, and model Leomie Anderson.

Marvel Studios to reduce output

OHMYGOSSIP — Marvel Studios are planning to scale down their output.
The company’s president Kevin Feige and co-president Louis D’Esposito have acknowledged they have taken “a little hit” in recent years but have “learned [their] lesson” and think they will be in a stronger position if they limit the number of films and TV shows they release in a short space of time.
Speaking to Empire magazine, Louis said: “If we just stayed on top, that would have been the worst thing that could have happened to us. We took a little hit, we’re coming back strong.
“Maybe when you do too much, you dilute yourself a little bit. We’re not going to do that anymore. We learned our lesson. Maybe two to three films a year and one or two shows, as opposed to doing four films and four shows.”
This year, ‘Deadpool + Wolverine’ will be the only Marvel movie release, which Kevin has welcomed.
He said: “It’s nice to be able to rally behind one feature project this year. I’m much more comfortable being the underdog. I prefer being able to surprise, and exceed expectations. So it does seem like the last year, which has not been ideal, has set us up well for that.”
Their comments have been echoed by Disney chief executive Bob Iger, who said the company will “reduce output and focus more on quality” particularly when it came to Marvel amid concerns of so-called superhero fatigue after Disney+ subscriber numbers were lower than expected and box office figures have been plummeting.
The businessman said Disney will release two or three Marvel films a year, and cut TV series from four a year to around two.
He explained some upcoming shows are “a vestige of basically a desire in the past to increase volume” and that in future, “it will just be a balance, which we think is right”.
In 2025, Marvel Studios currently has four films slated for release, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, ‘Thunderbolts’, ‘Fantastic Four’ and ‘Blade’.

Anita Rani loves the single life

OHMYGOSSIP — Anita Rani is loving life as a “single, Asian woman with no children”.
The 46-year-old TV star split from Bhupi Rehal – her husband of 14 years – in 2023, and Antia feels she’s now working from a “blank slate”.
The ‘Countryfile’ host told Good Housekeeping magazine: “I feel like I’ve stepped into a place that I never, ever expected myself to be in. I’m in uncharted territory – I’m a single, Asian woman with no children, and do you know what? I love it!
“I’ve sort of got a blank slate in front of me, and that feels really good.”
Anita has actually created her own “little sanctuary” since she became single.
The TV presenter shared: “I bought a flat about 20 years ago, which I kept for all these years, and I’ve moved back into it.
“When I first became single, a friend said, ‘You could make your little apartment like a Parisienne dream house’ – and that’s exactly what I’ve done.
“I have lovely cream drapes and white floorboards. My bedroom is dusky pink and I’ve turned my spare room into a dressing room.
“Just talking about it makes me happy! It’s my little sanctuary and it feels really important to have that.”
Last year, Anita claimed that she was “living [her] best life” after splitting from her husband.
She told Fabulous magazine: “It’s liberating that people know that I’m single now.
“Not everything works out and things come to their natural conclusion, and that is absolutely fine.
“There’s no shame attached to being single and living your best life in your 40s.
“I want all women to know that I’m on the other side now.
“There is light, and the light is good!”

“I don’t think I ever sucked sucked, but I definitely wasn’t where I am now.”
Paul – who has played supporting roles in movies such as ‘I, Tonya’, ‘Da 5 Bloods’ and ‘BlacKkKlansman’ – feels he’s benefited from a “trial and error” approach to his work.

“There are so many layers and chapters to Anna’s life story that I look forward to embodying on screen with all of my heart and soul. Truly grateful.”
Penn admitted he didn’t know about Kapoor’s “wild story”.
He said: “We all know the tragic story of the iconic Anna Nicole Smith, but very few of us – myself included – knew much about her young doctor: flamboyant, old school, blurring the lines between patient and acquaintance, and ultimately arrested and charged following her death.
“It’s a wild story brought to life in an especially tremendous script.”

‘I am so honoured’: Sheridan Smith to star in gritty new ITV drama I Fought the Law

OHMYGOSSIP — Sheridan Smith is to star in ITV’s gritty, new drama ‘I Fought the Law’.
The 42-year-old actress is to portray Ann Ming, who battled for 15 years to change the Double Jeopardy law so her daughter’s murderer could finally face justice, having been controversially acquitted following two mistrials.
Sheridan is “so honoured” to have landed the part of Ann, who she praised as a “truly courageous and remarkable woman”.
She said: “I am so honoured to have been asked to play the role of Ann Ming, a mother so determined to fight for justice for her murdered daughter that she spent 15 years campaigning for the Double Jeopardy law to be changed.
“She is a truly courageous and remarkable woman to whom we all owe a debt of gratitude.”
Ann, who will act as consultant throughout the production process, is delighted that the “iconic and talented” ‘Cilla’ star will portray her in the four-part series.
She said: “I am very pleased that Hera Pictures will tell the story of my campaign to overturn the Double Jeopardy law.
“My daughter’s killer was wrongfully acquitted, and a number of years later confessed to her murder, for which he could only be prosecuted for perjury due to the 800-year-old Double Jeopardy law.
“I wasn’t going to let this stand in my way of getting justice for Julie.
“I’m overwhelmed that Sheridan Smith will be playing me.
“Having such an iconic and talented actress portray me is truly wonderful.”
Senior Drama Commissioner Helen Ziegler, who will oversee production of the drama on behalf of the channel, added: “It’s a privilege to be working with Sheridan, Jamie and Hera Pictures to bring Ann Ming’s extraordinary and unwavering fight for justice for her daughter to ITV.
“Ann took on the establishment, overturned the law and made history. She is a reminder of the power one voice can have.”
‘All Creatures Great and Small’ scribe Jamie Crichton has penned the script, based on Ann’s book ‘For The Love of Julie’, which tells how Ann and her family dealt with the disappearance of mother-of-one Julie in Billingham, Cleveland, in November 1989 after working a late shift at a local pizza parlour. She died aged 22.
Ann found Julie’s body concealed in the bathroom of her modest terraced house in January 1990, 80 days after it was hidden behind the bath panel by her killer.

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins broke down in tears as she recalled being advised to undergo a termination.
The former ‘TOWIE’ star felt “hurt” when medical professionals advised her to terminate her pregnancy, admitting it was a “really stressful” time in her life.
In a trailer for a new chat on podcast ‘Everything I Know About Me’, she said: “They advised me you need to have a termination.
“I remember that being really stressful. That hurt me.”
The 43-year-old star admitted she was “really heartbroken”.
She added: “I was really heartbroken because I was pregnant and he was having an affair.”
In December, Gemma, who has suffered three miscarriages over the years, admitted she was hoping to have a baby in 2024.
She told MailOnline at the time: “Well, I was meant to have an appointment the other day and the doctor cancelled, so I’m starting it picking it up again in February. Hopefully, in 2024, The GC’s child will be born.
“There’s nothing to say at the minute. We’re literally at the very, very first stage, and, hopefully, but yeah.
“I just think I’m at a time in my life. It’s the right time, so let’s see. If it’s meant to be, it would be.”
Gemma admitted she had big plans for the birth, if she does fall pregnant.
She said: “Definitely we’ll be giving birth next year at the Portland Hospital. I mean, I’ve got to let the legendary blood live on.
“I’m going to have it at the Portland [private hospital]. I’m going to do a press call. I saw David Beckham out there when Victoria had the baby. And I’ll be sending me out to say mother and child are doing well, and then I’ll appear like the Royals do.
“I mean, my child is going to be a gift from God. Everyone’s wanted me to have a baby for so long, haven’t they?”

Jeremy Clarkson’s “heart” is in Diddly Squat Farm ‘as much as his head’, according to partner

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson’s “heart” is in his Diddly Squat Farm “as much as his head” in series three of ‘Clarkson’s Farm’.
That’s according to his partner Lisa Hogan, who runs the farm shop on his Cotswolds-based land, and she admitted Jeremy doesn’t just think about the farm from a business perspective.
When asked on ‘Lorraine’ about Jeremy showing a “softer side” to himself in the upcoming third season – which begins on Amazon Prime Video from Friday (03.05.24) – she said: “Yes, originally, it was all about thinking how he could manage the farm, and now his heart is in it as much as his head.”
Asked what is guaranteed to make him cry, Lisa joked: “No rosé in the fridge.”
But Jeremy does have some emotional farming moments in the series, including being left heartbroken when his pigs “died in alarming numbers”.
Speaking at a launch event for the new series of his Amazon Prime Video show, he said: “It was just a heartbreaking time.
“I’d never, ever seen Lisa cry, not once, until all this started and was unfolding. It was terrible.
“It is weird, because you love them and you help birth them and you feed and nurture and care for them. I mean, you don’t say, ‘Let’s buy some pigs and hope they die’.
“I’ve always liked pigs. My mother used to buy me toy pigs every Christmas and birthday into my twenties, and I thought it would be fun to have them – then they all just died in alarming numbers.”
Former ‘Top Gear’ host Jeremy admitted it was a “horrific” period for the couple, and they have since suffered “another calamity”.
He added: “It was absolutely horrific at the time, and we had another calamity with them just the other day, but by and large they’re now going OK.
“We’re getting more robust now, though, we’re a bit stronger at dealing with it.”

According to The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column, Pussycat Doll Kimberly, music producer Mistajam, former ‘Coronation Street’ star Sally, and singer Toyah are all part of the lineup.
Choirmaster Gareth Malone will also appear on a celebrity special, as will former ‘EastEnders’ actor Richard Blackwood, and comedian Nish Kumar.
Last November, it was announced ‘PopMaster TV’ had been commissioned for a new 16-episode series and two celebrity specials.
In the show, five contestants go head-to-head to test the depth of their music knowledge over a series of six knockout rounds.
The rounds include ‘Intros, Middles and Ends’, ‘Video Gaga’, ‘Pop Years’ and ‘It’s Only Words’.
Two players then progress to play ‘Original PopMaster’, and the winner is tasked with correctly tackling a ‘Three in 10’ if they’re to take home the coveted PopMaster TV gold disc.
Ken said at the time: “After playing ‘PopMaster’ on the radio for 25 years, it was a joy to work with Channel 4 and 12 Yard to finally bring it to TV screens earlier this year.
“‘PopMaster TV’ was brilliant fun and I’m thrilled we get to do it again but with more than double the episodes to put even more music lovers, and some celebs, to the ultimate pop trivia test.”
Last June, Ken admitted he had been “surprised” by the level of interest in the TV version of ‘PopMaster TV’.
He told TV and Satellite Week magazine: “I’ve been slightly surprised by the interest. It’s been lovely.
“I would recommend, if anybody has the opportunity when they get to a certain age, to take a new direction or a different direction – do it!”

Anya Taylor-Joy welcomes Charlize Theron’s support

OHMYGOSSIP — Anya Taylor-Joy “reached out” to Charlize Theron after shooting ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’.
The Oscar-winning actress previously played Imperator Furiosa in 2015’s ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, and Anna has now revealed that she reached out to Charlize after she played the character in her new movie, ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’.
The 28-year-old actress told Entertainment Weekly: “You have to go on your own journey with it. But as soon as it was done, I reached out to her because I’m such a fan, not only of her as an actress but her as a person. And she’s as wonderful and cool as you could possibly hope, and really supportive and classy, so I appreciated it.”
In the new movie, Furiosa uses body language to communicate, and Anya admits that it was a “quite frightening” challenge.
The actress said: “It ended up being something that only gave me, for a large portion of the movie, my eyes to telegraph the story.”
Meanwhile, in April, George Miller praised the “mystical” qualities of Anya.
The acclaimed filmmaker believes that Anya was the perfect candidate for the role of Furiosa.
Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the veteran director explained: “There’s something mystical about her, and yet, there’s an accessibility. I learned that she was somebody who is very, very disciplined, even though she’s very young.
“She was a ballet dancer. (Charlize Theron, who played Furiosa in the film ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’) was a ballet dancer. I understand the physical discipline as well as the emotional discipline they have. So all of that led to Anya being in ‘Furiosa’.”

Filming Girl, Interrupted was intimidating, says Elisabeth Moss

OHMYGOSSIP — Elisabeth Moss found shooting ‘Girl, Interrupted’ to be an “intimidating” experience.
The 41-year-old actress starred alongside Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie in the 1999 drama movie, and Elisabeth has now opened up about some of the behind-the-scenes dynamics with the cast.
The actress – who also starred alongside the likes of Clea DuVall, Brittany Murphy, Jillian Armenante and Jared Leto in the film – said on ‘Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa’: “There were two kind of camps. There was the Winona Ryder camp and the Angelina Jolie Camp.”
Elisabeth explained that the split occurred “off camera but based on what was on camera”.
The movie star continued: “I was in the Winona Ryder camp and the Angelina Jolie camp was really cool. Those were the really cool girls.
“I was so intimidated by the Angelina Jolie camp. I had no thoughts of ever being able to be in that camp. It was so cool. It was all the cool girls.”
Elisabeth has actually developed a good relationship with Angelina, 48, during the course of her career.
However, Elisabeth admits that she found shooting the movie to be an “incredibly intimidating” experience at the time.
The actress – who is pregnant with her first child – said: “I’ve spoken to Angelina since then, and she’s lovely, but at the time, it was just incredibly intimidating.
“I’ve never brought it up and I’m sure she would have no idea what I was talking about anyway. But I was just not – I was definitely not cool enough to be in her camp.”

Nicholas Galitzine recalls performing Backstreet Boys song for family

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicholas Galitzine used to perform a Backstreet Boys song for his family.
The 29-year-old actor plays Hayes Campbell, the lead singer of boy band August Moon, in new rom-com ‘The Idea of You’, and Nicholas has revealed that he used to perform in front of his parents during his younger years.
The London-born star – who appears in the movie alongside Anne Hathaway – told Billboard: “There’s a song that I used to perform in front of my parents and my sister. I think it was called ‘Incomplete’ by the Backstreet Boys. It’s so melodramatic, so I think that’s what makes it a perfect boy band song.”
Anne, 41, is also a long-time fan of pop music.
And the Oscar-winning actress has revealed that she’s particularly fond of Madonna and Britney Spears.
Anne shared: “The ultimate pop song for me is ‘Like a Prayer’ by Madonna, followed by close second, ‘…Baby One More Time’ by Britney.
“We’re really lucky right now – we’re living in this glory time of pop music. There’s so many ones out there right now, but those two … I think ‘Toxic’ is really amazing too.”
Meanwhile, Nicholas previously played down comparisons between his on-screen character and pop star Harry Styles.
The actor – whose character falls in love with 40-year-old single mother Solene Marchand, played by Anne – told Variety: “It’s funny because it’s not a comparison that I’ve ever made. But people really like to make it.
“Hayes Campbell, the man I’m playing, is a very different character and we want him to exist in his own world.”
