Ken Bruce reveals that second series of PopMaster TV is ‘bigger and better’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ken Bruce has promised a “bigger and better” second series of ‘PopMaster TV’.
The 73-year-old broadcaster brought his long-running radio quiz to television last year with the More4 show last year and says that some new features make the new series – which begins airing next week – even better.
Ken told The Sun newspaper: “I think it’s bigger and better this time. We’ve refined it just a little bit with a new round. It’s called Mix Tape and there’s a lot of jeopardy in it.
“There’s a button the players have to press to stop a randomiser going up and down lots of different music categories and nobody ever seems to manage to stop it on the one they want, it always seems to stop on the one after.
“As it goes along, the randomiser gets faster and then it becomes even harder to land on what you want it to. It’s a really good new addition!”
The new series begins with two celebrity specials featuring the likes of Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, actress Sally Lindsay and choirmaster Gareth Malone and Ken has declared that he will not be giving the stars an “easy ride” with the questions.
The Greatest Hits Radio presenter said: “Sometimes when you watch celebrity editions of quiz shows, they can be a bit easier. But that is not the case with this one. We’re not giving the celebrities an easy ride.
“It is brave of them, they’ve no guarantee they’ll be able to answer anything. Everyone hopes they will but it’s never easy.
“It’s a dangerous thing in a sense for pop and rock stars to take part in, but I’m glad they’re taking the chance.”

Richard Hammond hasn’t contacted Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff after Top Gear crash

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Hammond hasn’t reached out to Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff after his ‘Top Gear’ crash because he is “on his own business of recovery”.
The 54-year-old TV star was involved in a near-fatal accident in 2006 where his jet-powered dragster spun off the track during filming for the BBC show but hasn’t contacted 46-year-old Freddie – who suffered a similar crash while shooting for the same programme in 2022 – because he didn’t feel like he needed to “involve [himself]” in the situation.
Asked if he had reached out to the former cricketer, ‘The Grand Tour’ presenter told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “I’d very much like to, but he’s on his own business of recovery.
“Having been down the path of recovery myself, I know that you just need to get on with it. But if the opportunity arises to talk to him, of course I would.
“I didn’t involve myself in it. Of course, I was horrified and scared for him, and I wish him the best possible recovery. It’s a really awful thing to happen.”
Richard – who has 23-year-old daughter Izzy with his wife Mindy – insisted he was “massively grateful” for being given the chance to work on ‘Top Gear’ despite his terrifying crash.
He explained: “I’m still massively grateful for the opportunity and all that came from it and through it.
“It was another significant thing on the list of significant things in my life and, you know, there’s an interconnectedness to all of those things because if I hadn’t made certain decisions, I wouldn’t have met Mindy. [To Izzy] There wouldn’t have been a you – so everything we do is to connect to this. The butterfly effect …”
Richard currently presents his podcast ‘Who We Are Now’ with Izzy, and revealed his ‘Top Gear’ accident and the consequences of it were a huge factor in creating the show he shares with his daughter.
He said: “One of the starting points for the podcast was because I was very publicly brain injured in an accident.
“I certainly feel no stigma attached to discussing my own emotional state or issues I’ve had because it was all out in the air and I had to.
“Izzy lived through that experience. But I think from a listener’s point of view, what that means is if a bloke comes across this who knows me through ‘Top Gear’ or any of the quite blokey shows I’ve done, they might say, ‘Hey, he’s the little fella off that show, but he’s prepared to talk about these things’.”

Nicolas Cage cast in Jesus Christ horror film

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicolas Cage is set to star in a horror movie inspired by the childhood of Jesus Christ.
The 60-year-old actor has been cast alongside FKA Twigs and Noah Jupe as the Holy Family in Lofty Nathan’s upcoming film ‘The Carpenter’s Son’ inspired by the apocryphal Infancy Gospel of Thomas, which is said to recount the early years of the Son of God and has been rejected by scholars and the church.
As reported by Deadline, Cage will play the Carpenter, with FKA Twigs taking on the role of the Mother, and Jupe playing the Boy.
The movie’s official synopsis reads: “‘The Carpenter’s Son’ tells the dark story of a family hiding out in Roman Egypt.
“The son, known only as ‘the Boy’, is driven to doubt by another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, the Carpenter, revealing inherent powers and a fate beyond his comprehension.
“As he exercises his own power, the Boy and his family become the target of horrors, natural and divine.”
Filming is set to get underway this summer.
Last year, Cage suggested he may retire from the movie business soon, and only has “three or four” films left in him after working on 2023’s ‘Dream Scenario’.
He told Vanity Fair magazine: “It’s starting to solidify – I’m starting to cement my plan. I may have three or four more movies left in me.
“I do feel I’ve said what I’ve had to say with cinema. I think I took film performance as far as I could.”
He emphasised his desire to “say bye on a high note” to film acting as he wishes to spend more time with his 18-month-old daughter August – who he has with his wife Riko Shibata.
He explained: “I was taking stock of how much time I had left.
“I thought, ‘OK, my dad died at 75, I’m going to be turning 60. If I’m lucky, I have maybe a good 15 years and hopefully more. What do I want to do with those 15 years, using my father as the model?’
“It occurred very clearly to me that I want to spend time with my family.”

Patty Jenkins confirms Wonder Women 3 is done ‘probably easily forever’

OHMYGOSSIP — Patty Jenkins has confirmed a third ‘Wonder Woman’ film will “probably” never be made.
The 52-year-old director had helmed the Gal Gadot-starring superhero movie in 2017 and its sequel ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, but has now admitted another entry into the series is unlikely to happen because Warner Bros. “aren’t interested” in making any more movies in the franchise “for the time being”.
During an appearance on Max’s ‘Talking Pictures Podcast’, Patty was asked if a third ‘Wonder Woman’ flick was definitely off the table, and she said: “Yeah, for the time being, but probably easily forever.
“They’re [Warner Bros.] not interested in doing any ‘Wonder Woman’ for the time being.”
The director had been working on a third movie in the series, but it was pushed aside after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios and decided to reboot the superhero cinematic universe.
Patty wished the pair well and admitted overhauling the DC franchise was no “easy task”.
She said: “It’s not an easy task, what’s going on with DC.
“James Gunn and Peter Safran have to follow their own heart into their own plans. I don’t know what they’re planning on doing and why… I have sympathy for what a big job it is.”
In 2020, Patty had been announced as working on ‘Star Wars: Rogue Squadron’, but she departed the film due to her commitments to the third ‘Wonder Woman’ motion picture.
However, since the superhero flick has now been shelved, the filmmaker is back working with Lucasfilm and is currently writing a script for the sci-fi movie.
She explained: “So, when I left Star Wars to do ‘Wonder Woman 3’, and I started working on that, we talked about, ‘Well, maybe I’ll come back to ‘Star Wars’ after ‘Wonder Woman 3’, so we started a deal for that to happen.
“When ‘Wonder Woman 3’ then went away, Lucasfilm and I were like, ‘Oh, we’ve got to finish this deal.’ We finished the deal right as the strike was beginning, so I now owe a draft of ‘Star Wars’. So we will see what happens there. Who knows?”

Fearne Cotton leads tributes to Coppafeel founder Kris Hallenga

OHMYGOSSIP — Fearne Cotton has led tributes to Kris Hallenga.
The CEO of breast cancer charity CoppaFeel! passed away on Monday (06.05.24) aged 38, following her battle with the disease.
Former ‘Celebrity Juice’ star Fearne, 42, has led the stars honouring her late friend Kris.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “Her face was pure sunshine not only because she was as beautiful as an angel but also because she was kind and caring and vibrant. She asked me to design her a tattoo a few years ago and I’m proud to say a hand drawn trapeze artist sat across the scar on her chest.
“We talked about cats for way too long, talked about death (I was way too scared to talk about it before Kris taught me it was not just OK but necessary), ate cake together and sometimes sat in silence. I’m already running out of space here and there’s so much more to say.
“So here we are, suddenly using words like ‘was’ instead of ‘is’ and pulling memories and photos out of the drawers.
“There’s so much to celebrate and so much to mourn. I’m mostly thinking of Maren, Kris’ twin. I love you mate. We are all here for you.
This evening I will be lighting a candle for my dear mate who not only touched my life but saved many others. Kris, I love you. (sic)”
Former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ winner Giovanna Fletcher – who had trekked up to Mont Blanc in aid of the charity through ‘CoppaTrek with Gi 2023’ – also paid tribute to the CoppaFeel! founder.
She wrote: “In 2009 Kris was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. She was 23 and had been turned away from her GP for over a year. For 15 years she had been living with cancer. She hasn’t lost a battle, she wasn’t in a fight, and she wouldn’t want you to see her death as tragic. She died with a heart full of love. She loved her life.
“The work Kris did with @coppafeel has affected so many lives. So many people are here today because of the life saving message that she has put out there.
“Love you Kris. I will jump in all the cold water (maybe not with inflatables) and do all the tequila shots. Xx (sic).”
Comedian Russell Howard also paid tribute to Kris, and admitted it was an “absolute pleasure” to have known her.
Taking to X, he posted: “What an awesome, inspirational, life-chasing woman.
“[It was] an absolute pleasure to have known you Kris. (sic)”

Fern Britton’s 2-year stalker ordeal

OHMYGOSSIP — Fern Britton’s stalker drove 200 miles to stay in her holiday cottage in the village she lived.
James Haviland, 63, of Basingstoke, Hampshire, last week admitted stalking Fern without fear, alarm or distress at Bodmin Magistrates Court, Cornwall, which covered a period from November 2021 to September 2023.
According to The Sun newspaper, he stayed in her village, near Padstow, Cornall, four times, and rented her holiday cottage.
Haviland was reported to police when he tried to book her cottage again.
Prosecutor Samantha Rogers said: “Over a prolonged period he sent flowers, stayed in a particular village moving closer to where she lives and staying in a cottage that she owns.”
Earlier this year, Fern – who hosted ‘This Morning’ alongside Phillip Schofield from 2002 until 2009 – appeared in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’, and admitted afterwards she signed up for the show because she wanted an “adventure”.
She said on ‘This Morning’: “I could do with an adventure, and I haven’t had an adventure for a little while. I quite like feeling uncomfortable and I thought I’d give it a go. Before you go in, you are kept for about 36 hours – it feels like days on end – in a hotel room with a chaperone. No phone, no watch, no television, no radio, no book.
“I did sneak out now and then to just walk the corridor. So I was already spaced out. The game had started in all of our heads by getting us confused in our heads.”
Fern finished fifth overall in the series, behind ‘X Factor’ judge Louis Walsh, ‘Coronation Street’ actor Colson Smith, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Nikita Kuzmin and reality star winner David Potts.

Sarah Cawood fears breast cancer has returned

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Cawood is scared her breast cancer may have returned.
The 51-year-old presenter – who is best known for her stint on BBC kid’s show ‘Live and Kicking’ – revealed in September 2022 that she had been diagnosed with stage one breast cancer after doctors found a lump during a routine mammogram, and she subsequently underwent a lumpectomy and radiotherapy followed by longterm hormone treatment.
In an emotional post on Instagram, she wrote: “I got a text today telling me I have an appointment on Tuesday…
“I had a mammogram two weeks ago, but I also told the breast care nurses I was concerned about some marks on my other boob, so I don’t know whether this appointment is about that (which has already disappeared) or my mammogram.
“I’m sure it’s the latter, but the fact it’s a bank holiday weekend and the appointment is so soon has me all kinds of anxious.
“It never leaves you. The fear that It’s Back.”
Sarah – who shared a video of herself crying in bed next to her 12-year-old son Hunter – admitted while she’s “happier than she has ever been”, the reality is that the “shadow” of cancer is something that “never really leaves”.
She continued: “I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about but here’s the thing: I’m happier than I’ve ever been.
“My life is wonderful and I don’t want it to end anytime soon, and this stupid f****** thing that I had, it’s always there, like a shadow on a sunny day, threatening to ruin this amazing life I’m leading.
“I hope I’m overreacting, and I’m sure I am, but I’m posting this because this is the reality of having cancer: it never ever really leaves you. The disease does, but the anxiety is with you for the rest of your life. Here’s hoping it’s a long and healthy one.
“To all my pink sisters: I’ve got you, I feel you, I am you.”
Sarah also has daughter Autumn, 10, with her husband Andy Merry.
As well as ‘Live and Kicking’, she has also had presenting roles with the likes of Nickelodeon, MTV and ‘Top of The Pops.

Britain’s Got Talent star Jai McDowall was on brink of bankruptcy after big win

OHMYGOSSIP — Jai McDowall was on the brink of bankruptcy just a few years after winning ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The 37-year-old singer took home the £100,000 prize on the ITV competition back in 2011, but a series of bad decisions meant he found himself struggling.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I’ve done OK. Twelve years on I’m still working. But there was definitely a period where it took a dramatic drop.
“Finances, work, all of that stuff took a very big dive to a point where I did actually think about bankruptcy.
“I didn’t do it because, thankfully, I’ve got a brilliant support network. But I did get to a point where I was like, ‘Is this it, is this over?’ ”
Jai, who is now a member of operatic group G4, admitted he “made some bad choices” and “spent loads of money” after signing “with a few people in Scotland”.
He explained: “It came to a point where, on paper, you’re asset rich. But I was cash poor. That was pretty much me.
“I moved in with my parents at the time. I did have property but I had no money.
“That took a long time and a lot of grit and determination for me to get back out of that.”
Despite the highs of his big win 13 years ago, Jai admitted the concept of fame was “so hard to deal with” and it wasn’t long before he was dropped from his record deal.
He said: “My experience of BGT was great. Afterwards, for the first year, obviously you get all the work and all the good things. And that’s when it starts to go south.
“I had about eight months and then Sony didn’t renew my one album deal and it’s still quite a difficult thing to deal with.
“I went from a normal guy who wasn’t in the industry, to then being on the telly.”

Craig Revel Horwood reveals why he wishes Strictly bosses had been ‘braver sooner’

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Revel Horwood wishes ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ had been “braver sooner” by including a same-sex pairing on the show earlier.
Boxer Nicola Adams and pro dancer Katya Jones made history in 2020 when they became the BBC Latin and ballroom’s show’s first-ever same-sex pairing, but show judge Craig believes the move should’ve been made earlier because ‘Strictly’ viewers are “more open-minded than we give them credit for”.
He told Radio Times magazine: “I think we did it one year too late.
“I wish we’d been braver sooner, but we’re there now.
“Viewers are more open-minded than we give them credit for.”
But Craig heaped praise on ‘Strictly’ for the landmark move, which has changed TV forever.
He added: “Some people will kick up a stink initially, then suddenly they’re fine with it and that’s how we change the world – from the persecution of gay men to two men dancing on national television.”
After forming Strictly’s first-ever same-sex pairing, Katya and Nicola later had to withdraw from the competition early after Katya was struck down with COVID-19.
In 2021, Johannes Radebe and John Whaite teamed up and made the semi-finals, and Jayde Adams and Karen Hauer joined forces in 2022.
Last year, actor Layton Williams and pro dancer Nikita Kuzmin danced together and made the final.
Last month, singer Will Young, who took part in the 2016 ‘Strictly’ series, but pulled out of the series for “personal reasons”, admitted he would dance with a male pro dancer if he ever returned to the series.
He said: “If I did it now, I would dance with a male partner.
“I don’t think it was an option [back then]. I don’t think it was a conversation, no.”

Molly-Mae joins major retailer one year after leaving PrettyLittleThing

OHMYGOSSIP — Molly-Mae Hague has become a brand ambassador for Marks and Spencer.
The former ‘Love Island’ star – who quit her lucrative creative director role with fashion brand PrettyLittleThing last year – has now penned a huge new deal with the major retailer.
She revealed the news in a video on her home-focused MollyMaison Instagram account, as she took some M+S shopping bags into the kitchen and starting work on a roast dinner.
She captioned the post: “I hope you’ve all had a lovely bank holiday Monday!
“I’m excited to announce I’m now a @marksandspencerfood ambassador [white love heart] ad.”
In June 2023, Molly-Mae confirmed she had left her role PrettyLittleThing, and while she would still serve as a brand ambassador, she wanted to step back for the sake of her family.
She explained in a YouTube video at the time: “Myself and PLT have decided collectively that as much as the creative director role was incredible and I have literally loved being the creative director of PLT more than anything – it was such an amazing chapter for me – it has naturally come to an end.
“I am a mum now. I never really gave myself a maternity leave and I got straight back into work instantly because my work is my phone and showing my life is my work.
“There were just certain areas of my life where I had to re-evaluate. The last thing I would want to be is in a role that I can’t fulfil right now at this moment in my life.”
The 24-year-old reality star and influencer insisted there as “absolutely no tea” regardint her departure, and she remains “grateful” to the company.
She added: “There is no drama, there is absolutely no tea, there is nothing that has gone on.
“It was the most incredible pinch-me moment. I will never ever not be grateful to that business for what they have done to my career.”

Antoine Fuqua developing dystopian novel Sky’s End into a movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Antoine Fuqua is adapting the dystopian novel ‘Sky’s End’ into a movie.
The 58-year-old director and his Hill District Media production company are developing the New York Times bestseller by debut author Marc J Gregson for the big screen.
The book was published earlier this year and tells the story of how exiled teenager Conrad enters the Selection of Twelve Trades to save his sister from his murderous uncle.
In a civilisation of islands floating above toxic black clouds, Conrad joins an airship crew as he battles monsters in the air while exposing sinister agents of terror.
Kat Samick, Justin Bursch and Sam Levine are all producing for Hill District Media while Bob Higgins is set to executive produce for Trustbridge Entertainment – who acquired the rights to the tome from publishers Peachtree Teen.
Trustbridge chief Higgins told Deadline: “Hill District was at the top of our partner wish list. Antoine Fuqua has an unparalleled track record for telling stories with fascinating but flawed heroes, complex relationships, high stakes and, often, big action. It’s a perfect match.”
Gregson added: “I genuinely cannot wait for readers to see the world of the Skylands – with its horrifying monsters, epic battles, and memorable characters – come to life on the big screen.”
‘Sky’s End’ is not the only project that Fuqua has in the pipeline as he is also directing the Michael Jackson biopic ‘Michael’, which will cover “the good, the bad and the ugly” of the ‘Billie Jean’ artist’s career when it is released in cinemas in 2025.
The ‘Equalizer’ director told Collider: “(I hope to provide) a better insight on Michael as an artist, as a human being – the good, bad, and the ugly – and let people decide for themselves on what they feel about Michael Jackson.”

Samuel L. Jackson and Henry Golding to star in Head Games

OHMYGOSSIP — Samuel L. Jackson and Henry Golding have been cast in the psychological sci-fi thriller ‘Head Games’.
Music video and film director Anthony Mandler is helming the project that seems set to attract a lot of attention at the Cannes market this month.
Golding will portray Jacob, a corporate spy who poses as a personal chef to Graham (Jackson), the founder of a neuroprosthetics company.
However, Jacob’s true goal is to infiltrate his boss’ villa so he can steal his radical new invention. As his plan unfolds, nothing is as it appears and the mind games between the duo begin.
‘Head Games’ is due to begin principal photography in October with Colin Liddle writing the script.
Mandler said: “I couldn’t be more excited to bring this brilliant script to life.
“‘Head Games’ is a propulsive story that pushes the boundaries of what we know as a reality and what could ultimately become fiction before our eyes… I couldn’t think of two better actors to bring Graham and Jacob to life than Sam and Henry.”
Despite his extensive career in the movie business, Samuel has only ever won an honorary Oscar and admitted that he would rather appear in big-budget Marvel and ‘Star Wars’ flicks than chase awards recognition.
The 75-year-old actor told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: “I was never going to let the Oscars be a measure of my success or failure as an actor. My yardstick of success is my happiness: Am I satisfied with what I’m doing?
“I’m not doing statue-chasing movies. You know: ‘If you do this movie, you’ll win an Oscar’. No, thanks. I’d rather be Nick Fury. Or having fun being Mace Windu with a lightsabre in my hand.”

“She said, ‘Ah I didn’t want to tell you, but I’ve had a lump in my breast. I was like, ‘What?’, and she said, ‘But it’s fine I’ve got the all-clear’. I was like, ‘Oh, my God. Why didn’t you tell me?’ ”

The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter turned 57 this month, but admitted her initial thoughts on her birthday were of her late husband, who died in January aged 56 after being seriously ill ever since he contracted COVID-19 in the early days of the pandemic in 2020.

Dilly Carter ‘traumatised’ after health scare during cancer recovery

OHMYGOSSIP — Dilly Carter is “traumatised” after being rushed to hospital with stomach problems.
The ‘Sort Your Life Out’ star – who is best known for appearing on friend Stacey Solomon’s show – revealed last year she had previously been diagnosed with stage one cancer of the womb, and she has given her fans another health update during her recovery journey.
Alongside a photo of herself with a drainage tube, she wrote: “So my bank holiday weekend in Brighton didn’t quite turn out….. my stomach wasn’t playing ball.
“I had to have it drained due to a blockage making me sick.
“I’ve actually been quite traumatised by the process so haven’t been able to focus as I currently still have a tube up my nose and directly into my stomach draining excess fluids…
“It’s been a while since I’ve been speechless. But this literally has taken my breath and speech away it was such an ordeal.”
Thankfully, Dilly revealed she is feeling “better” after receiving treatment, but it’s left her feeling shaken.
She added: “Luckily I’m better since the procedure but wow. I hope that’s the first and last time I ever have to have that.”
She also sent a powerful message to other people suffering with their health “post cancer” or any other illness, and told her followers that they’re “not alone”.
She wrote in another post: “Just a shout out to all those with ongoing health issues post cancer, post any major illness.
“I see you, I feel you, I know how exhausting and draining it is.
“You are not alone… I feel much better than I look. Once this tube is out today I’ll be home and back to normal.”
Dilly, 42, has missed an episode of Stacey’s decluttering show which was filmed in October 2022, when she underwent major surgery to remove her cancer.
When the episode aired in 2023, she said: “I had just come out of the hospital following major surgery to remove the cancer and my entire reproductive system. I obviously could not film, so I was so grateful someone could step in.”

Sharon Osbourne: I’m tone deaf

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon Osbourne claims she is “tone deaf” – despite spending years as an ‘X Factor’ judge and music manager.
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star, 71, was a panellist on several series of the ITV talent show from 2004 to 2017, and ‘America’s Got Talent’ from 2007 to 2012, and she has also managed her husband Ozzy Osbourne’s music career, as well as bands Motorhead and The Smashing Pumpkins.
Despite this, Sharon claims she has difficulty perceiving differences of musical pitch accurately.
She said on ‘The Osbournes Podcast’: “My thing is, I’m tone deaf.”
But Ozzy, 75, disagreed, saying: “How can you be tone deaf if you know what a good artist is and what a bad artist is?”
Sharon replied: “That’s totally different.”
When asked by the Paranoid hitmaker who had the better voice out of Whitney Houston or Celine Dion, Sharon said: “Both have got brilliant voices. Both of them had huge range.”
Ozzy also questioned how Sharon could be tone deaf when she sounded “perfectly in tune” on recently-rediscovered song You Can Strike Oil In Hollywood, which was recorded by her group The Sheikettes in 1978.
He said: “How did you pull that off, Sharon? You say you’re tone deaf, but that sounded perfectly in tune to me.”
Sharon replied: “A good producer. That was in the bloody 70s. We were all really drunk.”
Ozzy added: “No, no, no, you’re bulls****ing now. That doesn’t sound like someone who was drunk.
“I can’t get my head around that. The way she sings now, she sounds like a dying moose. What happened?”
