OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hiddleston will play Sir Edmund Hillary in ‘Tenzing’.
The ‘Night Manager’ actor will star alongside Willem Dafoe, who will play English expedition leader Colonel John Hunt in See-Saw Films’ upcoming biopic of Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, the Nepalese-Indian mountaineer who became one of the first men to stand on the top of the world when the group summited Mount Everest in 1953.
A search is currently underway for an actor to take on the title role of the mountaineer, who had made six previous attempts to scale Everest before the historical 1953 effort.
Jennifer Peedom is making the movie after landing the exclusive rights to tell Tenzing’s story via his family, and has a close relationship with the Sherpa community thanks to her acclaimed documentary, ‘Sherpa’.

‘Lion’ scribe Luke Davies is penning the script, and both he and Jennifer will serve as producers alongside See-Saw Films’ Liz Watts, Emile Sherman and Iain Canning.
Producers Emile and Iain said: “We are so excited to embark on this exhilarating ascent led by one of the most inspirational directors we’ve encountered, Jennifer Peedom. Sair Khan gives birth to first child

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ star Sair Khan has given birth to her first child.
The 36-year-old actress – who has played Alya Nazir in the soap since 2014 – shared her baby news with fans on Thursday night (09.05.24) in a post on Instagram revealing she’s welcomed a son with her partner Nathan Chilton after a 22-hour labour which she described as an “absolute rollercoaster”.
In the post, Sair wrote: “He’s here! Okay, when I said ‘Spring awakening’ in my last post I didn’t mean ‘keep’ me awake. The new parent zombie look is definitely a thing isn’t it.
“More importantly our little boy is just marvellous. Very serious and curious about the world. He’s super strong and so resilient for joining me on the absolute rollercoaster that was our 22 hours of labour. We didn’t quite get the birth i’d hoped for but that’s okay (two birth pools, no water birth).”
She added of her labour: “It was raw and primal and I’m glad I kept an open heart and no expectations because my gosh I had NO IDEA what a ride I was in for.
“And since then we’ve been non stop trying to figure out latches and vomit and tears all while dealing with sleep deprivation and the small issue of trying to heal my own body too. Massive respect to all the new Mamas and Dads trying to get through those first few days and weeks.”
Sair – who announced her pregnancy news in December – added: “Somehow we’re off the starting blocks and I’m so unbelievably grateful for our healthy baby, for Nathan and the for the incredible support network around us for their patience, generosity and late night voice notes that have kept me going. Anyone else ever felt like there’s a DJ beat coming from your breast pump at 3am or is that what delirium is?!”

David Tennant ‘retired’ from Doctor Who

OHMYGOSSIP — David Tennant has “retired” from ‘Doctor Who’.
The 53-year-old actor made a surprise return for three special episodes as part of the BBC show’s 60th anniversary celebrations,as the Fourteenth Doctor, 13 years after he departed the programme as the Tenth Time Lord, but showrunner Russell T. Davies has insisted he won’t be coming back again.
He told The Times newspaper: “I think he died. I’m going to start saying that. He went to Venice, 2063, when the city sank, and he went into a whirlpool, which is really sad …
“David is parked and retired and it’s all Ncuti’s show now. Genuinely. Not that David might be coming back — he’s absolutely not coming back.”
With the show returning this weekend with Ncuti Gatwa in the lead role, one episode references the traditional Nativity, and Russell admitted he’d love to incorporate the Christmas story into one of the programme’s festive specials.
He said: “Oh my God. Absolutely, that’s the great Christmas special waiting to happen. I know. It’s funny, we’ve talked about it … give us time … We’d do that with a bit of respect and fun.”
David previously admitted there is always a chance he could return to the show again in the future following his brief return, though he insisted he has “no plans” to do so.
Speaking to SFX magazine, he recently said: “I think it would be disingenuous to imagine that I might never be asked again, because history would indicate that it was always a possibility.
“So I’m not going to say never because I don’t think anyone would believe me.
“That doesn’t mean I know that I ever will. But I suppose until I can’t run down a corridor it’s always a possibility. But I promise to have no plans.”

‘Real-life Martha’ from ‘Baby Reindeer’ threatens to sue Netflix

OHMYGOSSIP — The “real-life Martha” from Netflix’s ‘Baby Reindeer’ is threatening to sue the streamer.
Scottish lawyer Fiona Harvey says the show – billed as a “true story”, and which provides a brutally honest account of comedian Richard Gadd’s experience with an alleged stalker known as Martha – paints an “obscene” and “defamatory” account of her character.
She told Piers Morgan during an interview on his ‘Uncensored’ show about how she has been targeted with death threats since it became one of Netflix’s biggest hits: “I find it quite obscene. I find it horrifying, misogynistic.
“Some of the death threats have been really terrible online. People phoning me up. You know, it’s been absolutely horrendous.”
Fiona added Netflix did not contact her before ‘Baby Reindeer’ was first aired worldwide in April, and added it raised duty-of-care questions.
She also said she had been “forced” into telling her side of the story after the series shot to popularity, branding it a work of “hyperbole” “fiction”.
Internet sleuths identified Fiona within days of the series starting.
Netflix has stood by ‘Baby Reindeer’, stating it was a “true story” and that it took “every reasonable precaution in disguising the real-life identities of the people involved”.
Fiona added she had never been charged or received a jail sentence for stalking, as depicted in the final episode of ‘Baby Reindeer’, and denied sending Richard, 34, around 41,000 emails or contacted his parents and never heckled the comic at his stand-up gigs.
She also denied assaulting Richard’s former girlfriend and said she did not sexually assault him on a canal path.
Fiona did admit she met Richard in a London pub but said she had only seen him “five (or) six times” in her life and said she had sent him some “jokey banter emails”.
She added: “There are two true facts in that: his name is Richard Gadd, and he works as a jobbing barman on benefits, in the Hawley Arms.”
‘Baby Reindeer’, which stars actress Jessica Gunning, 38, as unhinged stalker Martha, has racked up nearly 54 million views since its April debut and has been Netflix’s top English-language series for three weeks in a row.

Princess Andre lands major brand deal

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Andre has landed a major brand deal by becoming the face of Superdrug’s own brand make-up line.
The 16-year-old social media star – daughter of pop singer Peter Andre and his ex-wife Katie Price – has signed a lucrative deal to help the high street giant develop new products for its Studio London cosmetics range as well as appearing in photo shoots and producing social media content to promote the collection.
Princess said in a statement: “I’ve shopped at Superdrug for as long as I can remember, it’s always been my go-to for all of my favourite beauty products.
“To work with them now and play a role in the development of the make-up collection feels like a dream come true, I’m so excited for what’s to come!”
The partnership has been announced as part of the chain’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
Princess’ career has been taking off this year with the teen also signing a four-figure deal with clothing company PrettyLittleThing to become a brand ambassador.
Her pop star dad previously gushed over his daughter’s success but insisted she wasn’t allowed to sign the deal with the retailer until she turned 16 because he was worried it could interfere with her school work.
He told Metro.co.uk: “With Princess, she’s had brands come to her. Claire [Peter’s manager]Claire Powell] brought PrettyLittleThing to the table.
“And because Claire’s known me for years, she knew there’s no way I’d let [Princess] do anything that interferes with her exams because this is a crucial year.
“The deal with PrettyLittleThing was very selective. A photo here and a photo there, in her own time, after she’s done her studies, never interferes with school.
“Obviously, I’d love her to build a much bigger relationship with PrettyLittleThing, but we’re having that discussion when she turns 16. I want her exams done. I want her to put all her focus into it. School is number one, everything else is secondary.”
Princess’ elder brother Junior, 18, has also been making progress with his career as he is following his pop star dad into the music industry as well as dabbling in acting.
Junior signed a record deal two years ago and has already been releasing music.
Peter told the Standard newspaper: “What’s great is he’s only 18, so he does a bit of music, then he steps away and he’s doing his acting, then he comes back and does the music and I love that.”

Ben Elton created a sitcom featuring band Madness as UK government

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Elton created a sitcom featuring the band Madness.
The ‘Blackadder’ creator, 65, teamed up with ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ writer Richard Curtis, 67, to pen the show, which aimed to be just like 1960s US hit series The Monkees, starring the mop-topped group.
Ben was quoted in the Daily Star saying about the lost project: “The first thing Richard wanted to collaborate with me on was sort of an idea like The Monkees but with Madness.
“I thought it was a great idea and we met Suggs and the boys and had a lot of fun and we put a script together.”
Ben and Richard’s pilot for the show saw now 63-year-old Suggs – real name Graham McPherson – elected Prime Minister of the UK, with the rest of Madness acting as his cabinet before moving the centre of government to Camden, North London.
But the comic-turned-writer said the show “withered on the vine” at the BBC.
He added: “The BBC were interested but they weren’t very interested and I’ll tell you why, that’s because Madness were just not smash hit chart heroes anymore. This was 1983 or something and they’d been huge from ’79 to ’81.
“Sadly the BBC couldn’t see that this was going to be a whole new thing.
“That’s when Richard said, ‘There’s another idea I wanted to talk to you about, why don’t you join me on Blackadder?’”
Ben has said he would love to see ‘Blackadder’ make a comeback, possibly in the theatre, co-written with Richard.
He told The Sun: “A ‘Blackadder’ play, if Richard was keen on it, I’d be interested.
“Not an adaptation of episodes – it would be an original play.
“When I wrote (Shakespeare satire) ‘Upstart Crow’, I did three series and three Christmas specials for TV, which was a load of writing, but I’m proud of the fact I then did an original play.”

Ralph Ineson joins The Fantastic Four cast as villain Galactus

OHMYGOSSIP — Ralph Ineson is to play the villain Galactus in ‘The Fantastic Four’.
The 54-year-old actor has joined the cast of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie that is due to begin shooting in the UK this summer ahead of a July 2025 release.
Ralph joins a cast that includes Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (the Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (the Thing) and Julia Garner (the Silver Surfer) as well as Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich in undisclosed roles.
Galactus is an intergalactic being who eats the life force of planets to sustain his energy.
The antagonist was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in the Marvel Comics back in 1966.
Galactus made his big screen debut in the 2007 film ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ in which he was depicted as a CGI-generated cosmic cloud – an appearance that did not impress fans.
Matt Shakman’s upcoming film will mark the first time that ‘The Fantastic Four’ have been integrated into the MCU and Quinn recently brushed off any concerns that superhero fatigue could have an impact on the blockbuster’s performance.
The ‘Stranger Things’ star told Entertainment Weekly: “I think that with the story of the Fantastic Four, it feels like we want to get this right.
“There are aspects of it that are very different to other Marvel films. That felt very compelling to me. And again, going back to who’s involved, Matt (Shakman), of course, the director, I think is brilliant, and the cast, and I’ve read it and the script is brilliant. It’s really brilliant. I’m delighted to have this opportunity.”
Joseph added: “Superhero movies are movies about people. And if we’re invested in the people and the characters and the peril and the spectacle, then that’s why people go to the theatres to watch films. We’re not just in for a penny; we’re in for a pound with this one. We’re going to go for it.”

‘It would be really fun’: Lily Gladstone targets action movie role

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Gladstone wants to go “against the grain” by starring in an action film.
The 37-year-old actress earned critical acclaim for her performance as Mollie Burkhart in Martin Scorsese’s historical crime epic ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ and is now determined to act in a range of different genres.
Lily told Empire magazine: “I like black comedy. Before it’s all over, it would be really fun to do an action film.
“I am having conversations about doing things that have some levity, because while I want my work to be meaningful, I really like getting creative and going against the grain.”
Gladstone became the first Native American star to be nominated for the Best Actress Oscar for her role in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ but insists that she doesn’t want her identity to define the parts she gets.
She said: “It’s all of the things you dream of for yourself when you first become an actor, but unless they were looking for someone Native, I didn’t see myself getting to play those characters.
“There’s way more diversity in the things I’m being approached for now and what I’m being offered.”
Lily previously stated that her Oscar nomination showed that “perspectives are broadening” within the movie industry, even though she ultimately missed out on the gong to ‘Poor Things’ star Emma Stone.
She told the BBC: “Times absolutely are changing; people’s perspectives are broadening. The Academy has gotten much more diverse in the last 10, 20 years.
“I think it’s also because Native and Indigenous filmmakers have been continually blowing audiences away with what we’ve been making … people are ready.”

Peter Crouch accidentally ‘sexted’ Abbey Clancy’s mum

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Crouch was left red-faced when he accidentally “sexted” Abbey Clancy’s mum.
The 43-year-old former footballer has admitted he sent a saucy message meant for his wife to his mother-in-law by mistake, confessing it was “highly embarrassing” when it happened during the early years of their relationship.
During an episode of their ‘The Therapy Crouch’ podcast, the couple answered a question from a listener who asked: “Hey have you guys ever texted a person you were actually talking about by mistake, and how did you fix it?”
Abbey revealed she had taken a screenshot of a text and accidentally sent it back to to the person who shared the initial message, saying: “Someone texted me and I screenshot it. I was meant to send it to someone else but sent it back to them.”
Her husband then weighed in with a much more cringe-worthy text error – revealing he sent a beaver emoji to Abbey’s mum by mistake.
Peter explained: “Yeah I’ve done it before. Do you remember when I sent your mum a sexual message? That was horrendous”.
Abbey replied: “He was sexting my mum!”
The former sports star then added: “The beaver emoji sent straight to her mum, that was highly embarrassing wasn’t it? That was early on [in our relationship] as well … Let’s move on. I was meant to text you, but I text your mum”.
It comes after Abbey previously admitted her dad went “ballistic” when he found out she was dating Peter.
The 37-year-old model first met him back in 2006 when he was playing for Liverpool F.C. and she’s admitted she kept news about their blossoming romance secret from her family until they had been out a few times and says her dad had a meltdown when he found out.
Speaking on a previous episode of the podcast, Abbey explained: “I don’t know why I was being so secretive. I think because I was so young and I was embarrassed to tell my mum I was going on a date.
“My dad is the biggest Liverpool fan on Earth, but I remember telling them when we had a few dates and he went ballistic. He was like, ‘I can’t believe you are going out with a football player. It is such a bad look’.”
The couple – who married in 2011 and became parents to four children – met at a birthday party in Liverpool which was held close to the restaurant where Abbey was working as a waitress – and Peter admits she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
He said of their first meeting: “Ab came over to me. It was insane. I couldn’t pull a hamstring in London. I went up to Liverpool and then you came over and I was like: ‘Wow – this place is incredible’.
“You came over, and this sounds corny, but I have never seen a more beautiful girl in my life. I always remember your eyes. Your mum has got them as well. They’re incredible.”

Malin Andersson warns of liposuction dangers

OHMYGOSSIP — Malin Andersson has been left with “lumpy strange skin” seven years after having liposuction.
The 31-year-old ‘Love Island’ contestant used her experience to warn her followers about the dangers of cosmetic surgery in a candid post on Instagram in which she showed off patches of her tummy covered in scars, and insisted she doesn’t want anyone else to make the “same mistakes” as she has done.
She wrote: “When you get liposuction seven years ago, have two babies but you still have lumpy strange skin on your stomach from it …
“Just a little warning to anyone that’s thinking of getting liposuction done, especially Turkey. This is seven years on.
“YOU LIVE AND YOU LEARN. Or I would have never evolved.”
She went on to add: “Funny how I’ve learnt to love every part of me through ALL of the pain. I just don’t want anyone making the same mistakes I did.”
It comes after Malin admitted she will no longer let the fear of “being judged” stop her from sharing lingerie or swimwear posts.
She added on Instagram: “So sadly I haven’t done my funny reels in lingerie or many posts in bikinis etc. God I even wore a t shirt in yesterdays reel cos I wanted to cover up. I was so scared of being judged about not looking the same – I’ve done a few stories but I seriously have hidden myself and I don’t even know why I let it bother me.
“Now that’s sad. That isn’t like me at all to care what people think. But isn’t it mad it can go the opposite way?”
But now, Malin no longer “gives a flying monkeys” about what she shares on social media.
She added: “So today I woke up and thought I don’t give a flying monkeys anymore because it’s my body and I feel strong and mentally better… if I can inspire somebody to embark on better wellbeing and a strong body as long as it’s healthy and you’re happy then go for it. I will never shove any fitness or diet plan in any of your faces cos that’s not me.
“But all I can say is that exercise and eating lots of nourishing food has brought my head into the best place. Now queue all the sexy underwear pics honeys.”

Kate Garraway ‘calls in financial aid experts after being hit with £716k tax bill from late husband’s firm

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway has reportedly called in financial aid experts after being hit with a £716,000 tax bill from her late husband’s firm.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter, 57, was left devastated when her partner Derek Draper died aged 56 in January, following a marathon battle with the long-term effects of Covid, and is now said to be reeling by the fees being demanded by HMRC after she closed down his company.
A source close to the TV host told The Sun: “It’s no secret that Kate has had a lot of financial burdens to deal with including Derek’s medical and care bills and the inevitable collapse of Derek’s company.
“Kate has wisely sought some help and is working with a team to help guide her through addressing all these debts as speedily as possible.”
Derek’s psychotherapy company Astra Aspera Ltd was shut down with £184,096.96 of debt and its closure is said to have landed Kate with the £716,000 tax bill.
She has reportedly engaged London financial expert Hacker Young to handle discussions with HMRC – a firm that says it specialises in companies and people in need of help with “tax investigations and litigation support”.
Kate has revealed on ITV’s ‘GMB’ she was forced to cash in part of her pension in the wake of bills resulting from Derek’s death.
She told a guest who said they had to pay £15,000 for their private healthcare: “You need every penny of that pension. I’m doing something similar myself.
“I’ve just had to withdraw the bit you can tax-free for my pension to pay belated bills for my husband that passed away.
“I am ashamed of the fact that I am in debt because I have an incredible job that I love, that’s very well paid.
“I’m not a carer travelling miles, paying their own transport to go and help somebody for minimum wage.
“I’m somebody that is very well paid and so I just feel a shame that I couldn’t make it work.”

Russell T Davies tips ‘Doctor Who’ star Ncuti Gatwa for James Bond role

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell T Davies reckons ‘Doctor Who’ star Ncuti Gatwa will soon be tapped up to play James Bond.
The long running BBC sci-fi series’ showrunner, 61, recruited the ‘Sex Education’ actor, 31, after he was thrust to fame thanks to the raunchy Netflix show, and says he was amazed the makers of 007 were not among the “feeding frenzy” of TV and film producers who wanted to cast him when his time was up on the comedy show.
He told Metro: “Everyone in the industry knew Ncuti was leaving ‘Sex Education’. You simply had to imagine there was a feeding frenzy for him – that people were queueing up at the door. And they were.
“Fortunately, and he says this himself, most of them were for parts like his Eric in ‘Sex Education’.
“He wanted to do something different, and we were different.
“But I’m astonished the James Bond people weren’t there – and I think in five years’ time they will be.”
Russell added about how he thinks Ncuti and his sidekick on the show Ruby Sunday, played by former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Millie Gibson, 19, have huge futures: “I think Ncuti and Millie are on the cusp of superstardom.
“Remember when we cast Billie Piper in ‘Doctor Who’?
“One of my greatest joys was shooting the first season before it had been on air and people were mocking us for casting a pop star.
“And we knew. We watched Billie every day on the rushes be so sensational.
“There’s a career that is sustaining itself to this day.
“She’s won Olivier Awards for being on stage. Not just TV. She’s a phenomenon.
“And I feel like that all over again now.
“I can’t wait for people to see Ncuti and Millie in this series.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane McDonald is returning for a new series of ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’.
The 61-year-old star admitted it was a no brainer for her and friend Sue Ravey to agree to be filmed for the show again because they’re only asked to do what they’d be doing if there was no cameras watching them anyway.
She told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “We have just said yes to doing the show again. It’s the best gig ever. It’s easy. We just drink wine and eat crisps. That’s what we do normally. So for us it’s great.”
Jane is delighted the programme has introduced the world to her friend.
She said: “Sue is hilarious. I’m so glad I’ve got her in front of a camera because she’s so funny. So I am thrilled to bits that we are doing the show again.”
And the singer-and-presenter is thrilled ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’ has brought her her own new legion of fans.
She added: “The show helps me reach a different audience, which is great.”
Other stars set to appear on the show when it returns in the summer are Bobby Brazier and his dad Jeff and brother Freddie.
Jane lost her fiancé Eddie Rothe to lung cancer in April 2021, and she recently paid tribute to her female friends, including housemate Sue, for helping her through her grief.
She said on ‘Lorraine’: “It’s that purpose thing again. You know, my life is different now to what it was and my plans have all changed now to what they were.
“I have a great group of girlfriends that I go out with a lot, we go on holiday together.
“I laugh again and there’s that one moment when you look in the mirror and you think, ‘I know you’.”

Emrhys Cooper hails Coronation Street role a ‘dream come true’

OHMYGOSSIP — Emrhys Cooper’s role in ‘Coronation Street’ is a “dream come true”.
The 39-year-old actor moved to Los Angeles in 2008, where he worked on the likes of ‘Desperate Housewives’ and ‘Mamma Mia!’, but was delighted to return to the UK to portray Rowan Cunliffe in the soap because not only was something on his “bucket list” to achieve, he’s found the set one of the nicest places he’s ever worked.
He told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “LA can be a funny place where, if you’re not on a billboard or haven’t won an Oscar, you can feel like you’re nowhere.
“But being on ‘Corrie’ has made me realise, ‘Wow, I have actually done a lot’. I am so glad I am back in the UK. Corrie is honestly one of the friendliest sets I’ve been to.
“It has always been on my bucket list to land a role on the soap. Now I have, it’s a dream come true.
“It is very serious in America and I really appreciate the humour and banter on set with everyone on Corrie.”
And Emrhys’ family are thrilled with his new job.
He said: “My family are really happy I am back. They are more excited about ‘Coronation Street’ than any of the American stuff I have done.”
The actor was “bursting with pride” on his first day.
He said: “It was surreal on the first day. I was nervous. But everyone has been so welcoming.”
Emrhys’ alter ego is a group mentor in a new cult storyline and fans have already seen Rowan persuade Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) that his Altovalent Institute can help her process the 2020 death of her three-year-old son, which has driven a wedge between her and her loved ones, and now he’s going to try and charm her out of her money.
He said: “Rowan loves the attention. He wants to help, but also take advantage. He is used to family members being suspicious and he is prepared for it all.
