J.J. Abrams eyes next Glen Powell project

OHMYGOSSIP — J.J. Abrams is said to want Glen Powell to lead the cast of his next movie.
After the ‘Star Wars’ director, 57, and the 35-year-old actor-of-the-moment – whose recent blockbusters include ‘Anyone But You’ and ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ – teamed up to produce the documentary ‘Blue Angels’ about the US Navy’s famed Flight Demonstration Squadron, The Hollywood Reporter claims they are in early discussions for another project together.
No further details are known but they are going to have to find a space in Powell’s hectic schedule.
He’s set to star alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos in Lee Isaac Chung’s sequel ‘Twisters’, whilst he’s also set to film revenge drama ‘Huntington’ in South Africa, and is also leading the cast of Edgar Wright’s adaptation of ‘The Running Man’.
What’s more, the ‘Hit Man’ star has been cast alongside Anthony Mackie and Laura Dern in John Lee Hancock’s legal drama ‘Monsanto’.
Meanwhile, Powell is planning to work on another movie with 26-year-old Sydney Sweeney.
The pair starred together in the hit romantic comedy ‘Anyone But You’ and are looking to keep their partnership going by collaborating on a new picture.
He told Variety at the SAG Awards on Saturday (24.02.24): “When you find somebody that you really jive with, Sydney is so easy to work with and so fun. We’re definitely trying to find the next thing. Please send us all the scripts you got. It’s been really wonderful to read a lot.”
Powell added: “Sydney reads everything, by the way, and in record time. She’s the fastest reader I think I’ve ever met. It takes me a little longer, but we’re reading everything and just trying to see what makes sense, what we can turn into something that audiences are going to respond to.”

Gogglebox favourite Stephen Lustig-Webb in talks for Celebs Go Dating

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Gogglebox’ star Stephen Lustig-Webb is in “advanced talks” for ‘Celebs Go Dating’.
Last month, Stephen and his fellow hairdresser husband Daniel Lustig-Webb – who quit the Channel 4 reality series as a couple in 2023 – shocked fans when they announced they are getting a divorce after they had “grown apart”.
Stephen has had a rough time of it after suffering a nasty injury during training for ‘Dancing On Ice’, which forced him quit the ITV show, and feels ready to get back on the telly box and potentially meet a new love interest on the E4 series.
A source told The Sun: “Stephen is set to sign up for Celebs Go Dating after successful advanced talks with E4 producers.
“Bosses were really keen to get him as soon as they heard he and Stephen had split as they know viewers will invest in his path to finding love again, and he’s already a big favourite with Channel 4 viewers after years on Gogglebox.
“Stephen is also really keen to have some fun again after a difficult few months, and he’s also raring to get back on TV after having to step down from Dancing on Ice due to injury.
“He was gutted when that fell through, but he feels excited to take on a new project.
“He is realistic that he may not find Mr Right, but he is up for a laugh on the dating scene.”
Stephen slipped and fractured his ankle, leaving him bedridden, and during his recovery he considered a return to ‘Gogglebox’.
He joked with the newspaper at the time: “When I was on the hospital ward chatting, I said, ‘I need a job where I can just sit at home watching TV’ and someone shouted out ‘what like Gogglebox?’ The irony!”
Despite waving goodbye to the Channel 4 programme, Stephen has insisted his return is not off the cards.
He said: “Gogglebox is literally like family, and I don’t know if the door is always open but we’re definitely on good terms and I think ‘never say never.’
“I do talk to a few of the gang still on WhatsApp and they’re all gutted, they’re saying, ‘come back!’”

Jay Blades ‘is taking break from The Repair Shop’ after breakup and uncle’s death

OHMYGOSSIP — Jay Blades has reportedly taken a break from ‘The Repair Shop’ after the breakdown of his marriage.
The 54-year-old presenter wasn’t part of filming this week as work resumed on the BBC restoration show days after his wife Lisa Marie Zbozen confirmed their split just 18 months after they got married, while the star recently revealed that his uncle Richard Brathwaite had been killed.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “Jay has taken a step back and is having a break from filming ‘The Repair Shop’.
“His uncle’s death in March and the breakdown of his marriage means he has decided to take some time out.”
It’s said most people working on the programme weren’t aware of his breakup, while the show is “carrying on” in his absence.
The source added: “‘The Repair Shop’ is carrying on without him for now and the other repairers are hard at work.
“People who worked with Jay said they were shocked to hear that his marriage to Lisa had ended.
“It was not well known at all among the people who work on the show.”
Last week, fitness instructor Lisa – who tied the knot with Jay in a small ceremony in May 2022 – revealed they had called it quits, and she later made a tearful confession that she just “couldn’t seem to get things right” for him.
Speaking in an Instagram Story, she said: “OK I am going to try this for the fortieth time without crying. So, I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who has sent a message and been so nice.
“I don’t really, I still don’t really believe that this is actually real because if you knew how much I loved my husband and how much I have tried to make this work over and over again. I just wanted it so much and I couldn’t be enough. I couldn’t seem to get it right ever.”
Jay is yet to speak out publicly on the split, but Lisa used first announced the news with a lengthy post in which she apologised to her followers for the lack of fitness updates but was “so incredibly sad” after things deteriorated in her marriage to the point where she just packed her bags.

Cate Blanchett cast in alien invasion comedy Alpha Gang

OHMYGOSSIP — Cate Blanchett has signed up to star in the comedy ‘Alpha Gang’.
The 54-year-old actress will play the leader of an alien invasion in the new movie from sibling filmmakers David and Nathan Zellner.
Cate’s character Alpha One is the head of an alien gang on a mission to conquer Earth and arrives on the planet in human form with her fellow extraterrestrials as they pose as a leather-clad 1950s biker gang.
However, their invasion plans are interrupted when the gang catches the “contagious human diseases” of emotion.
The picture is due to begin shooting later this year with the Zellner brothers both directing and producing the flick.
Blanchett and Coco Francini are also involved as producers for their Dirty Films banner.
The pair said in a joint statement: “The Zellner brother’s work never fails to surprise and delight us.
“In ‘Alpha Gang’, they have created a far-out world in order to lampoon something much closer to home: The hilarious, absurd, and peculiar truth of the human condition.”
Cate previously revealed that she is “always trying to get out of acting” as she loves producing movies instead.
The Oscar-winning star said: “I’m always trying to get out of acting. I’ve been trying to stop acting my entire professional life.
“It’s about the conversation. And sometimes that conversation involves me being in front of the lens, and sometimes it’s back behind being a little bit too bossy sometimes from behind.
“The facilitation is equally as creative… I’m as interested in the development process as I am in the process of shooting it, and then I’m really interested in the post process right through to distribution and marketing.”

Secretive Stephen Mulhern models children’s books on little-known life story

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Mulhern has modelled his children’s books on his little-known life story.
The 47-year-old magician and ‘Catchphrase’ host recently denied he was in a relationship with fellow TV host Josie Gibson, 39, and keeps his private life so under wraps his Wikipedia page does not have a Personal section.
But he told The Sun about his ‘Max Magic’ trilogy of books being modelled on his childhood, and including family’s real names and parents’ jobs: “We’re a market-trading family, from Petticoat Lane. We were never destined to be in books. So when I got this opportunity, I used their exact names so they can show all their friends and family.
“I don’t know why you’d shroud it in mystery, I’m writing it about what I know – magic, entertainment and my family.
“My brothers and sister, Vince, Chris and Susie, are all there.
“There’s even a character called Willow Holloughby, which was a nice surprise for Holly (Willoughby.) I didn’t even tell her I was doing it.
“Max, without question, is me and I wanted to include everything I’ve done in terms of ups and downs and tricky situations and happiness – and just overall things that people can take something from.
“There’s a bully in it, that really happened at my school. One of the things he did to me, he made me stand in the middle of West Ham Park.
“He said if you move before I walk outside this park, I’m going to beat you up. “It was just horrific and I stayed there until nightfall.
“I put that in the book as well, as I’m sure some kid will experience something that’s not too good, whether it’s at school or home.
“And when you can read about it and see how it can be dealt with, you can relate to some of it.”
The books also show Stephen’s mum was into spirituality.
He added about juggling his multiple jobs on ‘Catchphrase’, ‘In For A Penny’, ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’, ‘Dancing On Ice’ and ‘Deal Or No Deal?’: “I fit it all in because I love it. David Jason once did an interview with Michael Parkinson, where he said, ‘It’s funny, the harder I work, the luckier I get,’ and that’s how I feel.
“‘Deal Or No Deal; is like the cherry on top of the cake. It’s my favourite.
“I get to talk to people and hear their stories and work with them for a large amount of time. And then they get that moment to win a large amount of money.”

Jeremy Strong to star in Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Strong is in talks to join the cast of the Bruce Springsteen biopic ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’.
The ‘Succession’ actor is set to portray the ‘Born to Run’ musician’s long-time manager Jon Landau in the new movie that will feature Jeremy Allen White as the Boss.
Scott Cooper is directing the 20th Century Studios film and is adapting the screenplay from Warren Zarnes’ 2023 book of the same name that tells the story of how Springsteen’s 1982 album ‘Nebraska’ was made.
‘Nebraska’ was the rocker’s sixth studio album and is one of his most acclaimed records. The songs focused on blue-collar narratives and featured Bruce performing all the instrumentals alone.
It was ranked at 150 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2020.
20th Century Studios chief David Greenbaum said after confirmation of the biopic earlier this year: “It is a once-in-a-lifetime honour to be collaborating with Bruce Springsteen, an inspiring and incomparable artist who represents so much to so many.
“The deep authenticity of his story is in great hands with my friend Scott Cooper whom I am thrilled to be collaborating with once again.”
Jeremy’s method acting to portray the tortured Kendall Roy in ‘Succession’ irked his co-star Brian Cox – who played the sweary media mogul Logan Roy – but the star says that his straight-talking colleague has earned the right to say what he thinks about his performance techniques.
The 45-year-old actor told British GQ last year: “Everyone’s entitled to have their feelings. I also think Brian Cox, for example, he’s earned the right to say whatever the f*** he wants.
“There was no need to address that or do damage control… I feel a lot of love for my siblings and my father on the show.
“And it’s like a family in the sense that, and I’m sure they would say this, too, you don’t always like the people that you love. I do always respect them.”

Georgia Harrison says revenge porn trauma was like ‘house fire’

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgia Harrison says her sex video being leaked was like a “house fire” devastating her life.
The former ‘Love Island’ star, 29, was left devastated after her ex-boyfriend Stephen Bear, 34, posted explicit content featuring her on his OnlyFans, and was horrified to find the clip had gone “viral to a point I can’t explain”.
Appearing before the Commons Women and Equalities Committee, she said: “It absolutely horrified me that an individual had done this to me but what most horrified me was that these platforms were hosting these videos that were unconsented.
“For many that I tried to reach out to I got an automated response saying we will get back to you within four to six days. When something like this is happening, it is really like a house fire. The quicker you can put it out, the quicker you can stop it.
“Unfortunately, in four to six days your house has burned down. Everyone knows about this video, your family, your workplace, your peers and it’s just too late.”
Georgia stressed she felt she had been dealt “such an injustice” by the platforms that hosted the video, as well as by former ‘Big Brother’ winner Bear, who was sentenced to 21 months in prison after he was found guilty of voyeurism and disclosing private sexual photographs and films.
She added: “I felt I had been at such an injustice not just by the man that had done it to me but by the platforms that used me to make money on their behalf, they literally used this unconsented video to make money off me, and I felt it was something I didn’t ever want to happen in the future.”
Bear served 10 months of his sentence before he was released in January 2024, and Georgia said it felt like a “kick in the teeth” her video remained on the internet after his court case.
She is now calling for all sexually explicit content to be automatically taken down after it has been deemed illegal.
When asked if she believed taking revenge porn videos down after there was a conviction would have an impact, Georgia added: “It would make every single bit of difference.
“I think there’s almost 30,000 images and pictures that the RP (revenge porn) helpline have already said have gone through the court case – they’ve won so they are technically illegal – but they are still legal right now.”

‘Doctor Who’ star Ncuti Gatwa offered advice from Matt Smith

OHMYGOSSIP — Ncuti Gatwa was offered advice from ‘Doctor Who’ actor Matt Smith.
The 31-year-old – who made his debut as the Time Lord in the show’s 2023 Christmas special – is gearing up to return as the character, and has revealed the former ‘Doctor Who’ star, 41, gave him his phone number so he could turn to him if he needed advice.
In a ‘Q and A with the Fifteenth Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa’, he said: “I bumped into Matt Smith at a party before I was allowed to announce it to anyone. I told him I was following in his footsteps and he had no idea what I was talking about.
“But when it was announced, he texted me and said, ‘Ah, now I get it!’
“He was so lovely. He was like, ‘Take it all in your stride. If you ever need any advice, here’s my number.’
“Now that I’m in the role, I get what they mean. What it’s like to play that role is not something that anyone else can understand.
“I’m very grateful for their support.”
On Saturday (11.05.24), Ncuti’s Doctor and his accomplice Ruby Sunday (played by Millie Gibson, 19) will be making their series debut on BBC One with the opening episode ‘Space Babies’.
The actor said Millie “charmed us all the moment we met her”.
When asked what it was like to work with the actress, Ncuti added: “It’s incredible. She’s a great actor, and she’s delightful. She charmed us all the moment we met her, and that never stopped. She helps define the energy of my character.
“It was the missing element. As soon as the companion walked in, the energy and the chemistry were just there. Millie and I had never met before, but we just hit the ground running.
“That dynamic between the Doctor and the companion just worked instantly.
“Millie is the perfect person for this new era. Of course, as we know, the companion is the eyes of the audience. And what Millie brings is a lightness and a curiosity, but also something real and deep. I think that’s the perfect vessel for the audience to join us in the new era. Millie brings so much to the table.”

Chris Pine is clueless about Star Trek 4

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Pine is in the dark about the prospect of a fourth ‘Star Trek’ film.
The 43-year-old actor has portrayed Captain James T. Kirk in the three previous movies in the rebooted sci-fi series and explained that he was surprised to discover that ‘The Flight Attendant’ creator Steve Yockey had been hired to write the script as he thought that a screenplay was already in existence.
Chris told Business Insider: “I honestly don’t know.
“There was something in the news of a new writer coming on board. I thought there was already a script, but I guess I was wrong, or they decided to pivot. As it’s always been with ‘Trek’, I just wait and see.”
It is not the first time that the ‘Wonder Woman’ actor has lamented the lack of clarity about the fourth movie as he previously complained about how the cast are always the “last people” to discover new information.
Chris said: “In ‘Star Trek’ land, the actors are usually the last people to find out anything. I know costume designers that have read scripts before the actors.
“It doesn’t really foster the greatest sense of partnership, but it’s how it’s always been. I love the character. I love the people. I love the franchise. But to try to change the system in which things are created – I just can’t do it. I don’t have the energy.”
The fourth ‘Star Trek’ picture has been stuck in development for several years but Roddenberry Entertainment boss Trevor Roth has promised that a new film is going to be released in the “very near future”.
He told Screen Rant at SXSW earlier this year: “I am not able to say much, but I can say that it is Paramount’s intent to figure out the ‘Star Trek’ side of movies and what’s going on there. There’s every intent of a new movie coming out in the very near future.
“There’s a lot of secrecy around what’s going to happen there. But there is a plan getting into place. And we’re very excited to see it return to the big screen.”

Will Smith hails ‘aggressive’ Bad Boys: Ride or Die

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith has lauded the “aggressive” creative approach taken in ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’.
The 55-year-old actor and Martin Lawrence return as Miami detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett respectively in the fourth installment of the buddy cop series and says that brave choices have been made in the latest picture.
In an interview with Empire magazine, Will said: “It has to feel like it’s earned the right to be a movie today.
“I always hate when you see sequels that are victory laps. In ‘Ride or Die’ we’re taking some really aggressive creative shots.”
Smith and Lawrence took inspiration from the original ‘Lethal Weapon’ film in terms of “pushing the envelope” of character exploration in an action blockbuster.
Will said: “We wanted to push the envelope of how much life experience and age specificity you can put into these movies.
“With this movie we’re being really aggressive in stretching what you can do in a summer action movie. There’s a spiritual aspect to it that I think people will be like, ‘Okay, that’s an interesting evolution for Marcus’ character.'”
Lawrence has also teased that the new flick – which is set for release next month – will be “different” from the previous films.
The 59-year-old star said: “They found something interesting and different from all the movies we’ve done. In four, you’re gonna see something different.”
Martin also revealed that he is happy to keep coming back for more ‘Bad Boys’ movies as long as Will is involved.
He explained: “I’m going to carry on as long as my brother carries on. It’ll be very hard to get rid of me.”

Lorraine Kelly told she’d never land TV career due to her ‘working class Glasgow accent’

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorraine Kelly was told she’d never land a TV career because of her “working class Glasgow accent”.
The ITV morning host, 64, is set to be honoured with the Special Award at this Sunday’s (12.05.24) BAFTA Television Awards, and opened up about facing snobbery as she tried break into media in a chat ahead of the event.
She said: “I was given opportunities that, sadly, have become almost non-existent. I went straight to my local newspaper from school and then to the BBC (after acquiring a bottom drawer full of rejection letters.)
“In fact, I was told by the boss of BBC Scotland that I would never make it in TV because of my working class Glasgow accent.
“It was actually the best thing that could have happened: that comment spurred me to phone the boss of the relatively new breakfast TV station TVam, who asked me to come down for an interview and then hired me as Scottish correspondent.”
Lorraine added she thinks working class young people need to get more breaks when it comes to living costs when working at their first jobs in London.
She said: “The high cost of living and working now makes it almost impossible for working class kids from the rest of the country to accept a job in London.
“That has to change. There also needs to be more opportunities outside of London.
“We quite rightly have stressed the importance of diversity in recent years, but that also has to include young working-class people who understand and can relate to the vast majority of our viewers. It is in all of our interests to make sure they have the opportunity to have their voices heard.”
Previous BAFTA Television Special Award recipients include David Olusoga, Nicola Shindler, Clare Balding, Idris Elba, John Motson, Henry Normal, Nick Fraser, Lenny Henry, Delia Smith and Cilla Black.
Hilary Rosen, chair of BAFTA’s television committee, said Lorraine being handed the trophy during the upcoming event at the Royal Festival Hall, London will be a recognition of how she has spent decades making broadcasting look effortless.
She added: “Lorraine Kelly has been a sparkling presence on our screens for over 40 years and is one of the most well-known and adored stars of Television.
“On ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ she displays a mastery of disarming guests with her warmth and relaxed approach and always manages to make the daily demands of live broadcasting look easy.
“She combines quick intelligence with genuine empathy, tackling tricky subjects with skill and sensitivity and uses her platform to raise awareness of things that really matter.
“Lorraine has a deep and genuine connection with her audience and her longevity speaks to the unique importance of daytime television and its staying power.”

Ryan Clark’s only been on two dates in two years after divorce

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark has only been on two dates in two years since his divorce from Dan Neal.
The 35-year-old TV and radio presenter split from his husband, 44, in 2021, and hoped his new BBC show ‘Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour’ – which sees he and Rob Rinder, 45, go on blind dates in Italy – would help him get out of his love rut.
He told the Daily Mirror: “Hopefully my luck with men is about to change.
“I always thought when you were younger, ‘Imagine if you were known, you would be able to get anyone you want.’ It’s the complete opposite.
“I’ve had two dates in the last two years.
“One of them was really, really great and was going well. And then my job was just too much for his life.
“And then the other one was so interested in my job, he decided to call the press.
“So they’re the two opposite ends of the spectrum. I need somebody in the middle that can deal with it, but don’t want it.”
In Rylan’s new series, the host opens up to his co-star Rob about his divorce, labelling it “the worst experience of (my) life”, and admitted he wished his 70-year-old mother Linda hadn’t seen his “downward spiral” after the split, during which he admitte dhe tried to “finish (myself) off”.
Rylan added: “I think it was a culmination of my marriage breaking down and actually me stopping for the first time in 10 years. Then all of a sudden I had quite a big speed bump, and instead of carrying on I just sank. It was the worst experience of my life.
“I just went on a downward spiral. I tried to end it. I tried to finish myself off.
“I didn’t eat, I went down to nine stone. I’m six foot four. Rob, I looked horrendous.
“I’m so grateful for what I’ve got. I come from a council house. Like, I’m not saying we were on the breadline because we was not on the breadline, but we didn’t have a lot.
“But in those moments and even to this day, if I had to give it all up, to not have to put my mum through what I put her through when I got ill? Fine, take it. It was horrendous.
“She’s a 70-year-old woman. And she had to watch her successful son literally disintegrate.”

Victoria Coren Mitchell blasts gambling for ruining lives

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Coren Mitchell has declared gambling ruins lives.
The ‘Only Connect’ host, 51, who has two children with her TV comic husband David Mitchell, 49, has made a fortune from her poker playing, but has now said she objects to the type of casino-based gambling where punters have no chance of winning long-term as the odds are stacked against them.
She was quoted by the Daily Star saying: “I don’t advocate gambling, it ruins lives.
“I would advise people with every fibre of my being, ‘Do not play roulette, play dice, play fruit machines’.
“These are massive odds stacked against you. Don’t do it, don’t do it.”
Victoria is said to have banked £2 million from poker and presenting shows sponsored by betting firms.
The presenter was recently in the headlines for refusing to apologise after fans were left outraged by a spelling mistake in one of the games on her BBC Two quiz show ‘Only Connect’.
Viewers spotted ‘Stranger Things’ actor Finn Wolfhard’ surname was wrongly spelled Wolfhart, with one raging on X: “Absolutely incandescent about #OnlyConnect misspelling Finn Wolfhard’s name. Cancelling my subscription, putting my foot through the TV screen, sending them the bill, etc.”
Another added: “So @OnlyConnectQuiz are ok with putting a clue on the board that’s spelt wrong? Finn WolfharD is in Stranger Things, but I don’t know of a Finn Wolfhart. #onlyconnect.”
Victoria, who has fronted the show since 2008, refused to say sorry and wrote on X: “Ooh, it seems we had a spelling mistake on the connecting wall last night! Wolfhard was written as Wolfhart.
“BUT I WON’T APOLOGISE. I think it’s important to have an error in the Third Place Play-Off, like the deliberate flaw in a Persian carpet, lest God be offended.”

James May tried brewing low-alcohol beer so his pub drinkers could ‘have a few and still drive home’

OHMYGOSSIP — James May tried brewing low-strength beer for his pub so drinkers could “have a few and still drive home”.
The 61-year-old TV star – who presented ‘Top Gear’ with Jeremy Clarkson, 64, and Richard Hammond 54, from 2003 to 2015 – was inspired to mix mild ales and bitters together to keep visitors to his pub The Royal Oak in Swallowcliffe legal while behind the wheel.
He told the Morning Advertiser: “So if they were a bit undecided, they’d go half-and-half.
“But there has been this recent enthusiasm for co-called ‘table beer’. We were trying to develop one for The Royal Oak, which would be about 2.8 per cent to 3 per cent, with the unofficial idea being, you can have a few and still drive home, which most people have to in the countryside.
“But it’s supposed to be a beer that you drink with food, so it’s a but like a ‘light ale’, as they used to call it.”
Despite loving his 18th Century pub – which James bought half of the ownership in 2020 – the ‘Oh Cook!’ presenter conceded becoming a landlord was not “a good business proposition” because of the high overheads.
He explained: “It’s not insulated, the paint flakes off the wall, it’s partly thatched, sinkholes appear in the car park and it’s a high maintenance building so reserve of cash is pretty tiny really given the size of the turnover.
“It’s not a good business proposition and nobody should buy a pub thinking they’re going to make a fortune out of it because you absolutely won’t.”
Even so, ‘The Grand Tour’ star said the answer could lie in turning these establishments into “charitable institutions” the local population frequently flocked to.
He added: “Pubs could be turned into charitable institutions – that might be the answer.
“People like to say the pub is an important hub of the community and it’s a meeting place, which is all true, but it’s only true if people are using it.
“If people aren’t using it, it’s not an important hub and then it should be a surprise when it disappears.
“It’s pretty simple – use the pub if you like it and it will survive, if you don’t use it, it will go.”

Jerry Seinfeld apologises to Howard Stern for saying shock jock lacks ‘comedy chops’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jerry Seinfeld has apologised to Howard Stern for saying the radio host lacked “comedy chops”.
The ‘Seinfeld’ comic, 70, made the remark during a recent appearance on his friends’ Dana Carvey and David Spade’s ‘Fly on the Wall’ podcast, but has now said he’s filled with regret for taking a dig at the 70-year-old shock jock.
He told TMZ: “I really feel bad for what I said about my friend Howard Stern in a conversation with David Spade and Dana Carvey, talking about the glut of comedy podcasts.”
While discussing the popularity of podcasting with Dana and David, Jerry asked the two fellow comedians: “Howard Stern invented this, right?”
He added: “But we’re better than him now. Howard is interesting. Howard is a great interviewer, but comedy chops, I mean, can we speak candidly?”
David said “Sure,” while Dana exclaimed “No!” as they both laughed, before the actor said: “Well, he got Robin, and Robin is a big part of how he’s funny.” He was referring to Howard’s long-standing radio co-host Robin Quivers, 71.
Jerry added: “Yeah, they’re all great but let’s face it, he’s been outflanked by some very, and yourselves, I mean absolutely, this show, comedy podcast.
“This is the best one on the air. Because you guys play nice together, it’s smooth, you’re not jumping on each other, which is annoying to listen to.”
Jerry also told TMZ he “meant to say he must feel surrounded”, but “said ‘outflanked,’ which sounded terrible and insulting”.
He went on: “And of course, none of these little shows are any threat to his giant show.
“Anyway, it was bad and I’m sorry, Howie. I still love you. Please forgive me.”
Jerry also told Dana and David of his amazement at the podcasting boom.
He said: “Who knew there was a market? Who knew people wanted to get to know us? Who gets the credit for figuring it out?”
And Jerry slammed comedians who get deeply personal on their podcasts instead of bringing humour to their shows.
He added: “Make us laugh – how interesting do you think you are?
“You’re not that interesting, okay? You’re not.
“When you’re funny, you’re worth it. This is my line, which you know me, you know me, no but you know that I draw that line.
“If you’re not that funny, we’re not that interested in you.”
