Steven Moffat ‘threw away’ first draft of new Doctor Who episode

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Moffat totally scrapped the first draft of his new ‘Doctor Who’ episode.
The 62-year-old former showrunner – who first wrote for the BBC’s iconic sci-fi series when current boss Russell T Davies revived the show in 2005 – has penned this weekend’s episode ‘Boom’ for Ncuti Gatwa’s first series as the Doctor, and it’s been a long time coming.
He told the BBC: “It was quite a long time ago, around two and a half years.
“I just started tentatively writing and got about 12 to 15 pages in, and realised I had got it completely wrong.
“I started the story in the wrong place, on the wrong foot, so to speak. So I threw that away and started again.”
Steven – who led the show during the Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi years – admitted he hadn’t “even told the production office” that he had been writing more ‘Doctor Who’.
He added: “So when I sent it to just Russell he was quite surprised – he didn’t know I had been working on it.
“Mainly, it felt pretty good and pretty familiar to be back on the TARDIS. It doesn’t seem that long ago since I was writing for Capaldi.”
He explained there are challenges writing for the legendary programme, which “different jeopardy” every time, and a lot of emotions to try and balance.
He said: “It’s always hard to do Doctor Who, I think your every power of invention is stretched to the limit on ‘Doctor Who’.
“Every time he steps out of that TARDIS it’s a new world, different place and set of characters, there is different jeopardy.
“It’s got to be funny and you’ve got a lot of exposition, it has to be thrilling, and you have to wrap it all up in 45 minutes – it’s the full workout every time.
“You can’t just say ‘What do we normally do?’, because there is no normal.”
Steven is “always” thinking of new stories, including “day dreaming” potential ‘Doctor Who’ plots, even if they never see the light of day.
He added: “It’s fine that I never write them, I don’t mind that they are just something to entertain me on a tube ride.”

He also said: “People often comment on the chemistry we have.
“I’m really pleased that people enjoy it, but they won’t enjoy it as much as we do.”

Paul Sinha wants TV success to inspire Parkinson’s sufferers

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Sinha wants his TV success to inspire other Parkinson’s sufferers.
The quiz show regular, 53, was diagnosed with the condition four years ago, but has refused to ditch his jobs and wants to prove people with the disease can carry on as normal and not let it “define” their lives.
He was quoted in the Daily Star saying: “I’m trying to prove to the world that Parkinson’s doesn’t have to be the end of somebody’s story… that you can carry on doing the things you love. The important thing is to not let it define you.”
Paul, dubbed ‘The Sinnerman’ on ITV’s ‘Beat the Chasers’, added: “Whenever I buzz in and get anything right, it’s a point of massive pride to me. I feel that I’ve shown in the past three or four years that you can do it whilst having Parkinson’s.
“There’s no limit to what you feel you’re able to do.
“(My quiz job) is a good way of measuring its progression because my results haven’t got worse since I got Parkinson’s.
“It’s a good way of measuring my brain’s ability and function.
“I’ve always said that if I felt that the ability was going down, I’d call it myself, and I still stand by that. But it’s definitely not going down, so that’s fine.”
Before his quizzing career on TV shows including ‘The Weakest Link’, ‘Mastermind’, and ‘University Challenge: The Professionals’, Paul was a junior doctor in London before he started stand-up comedy.
Despite his insistence his quizzing makes him feel good, he admitted his Parkinson’s may be impacting his comedy career.
He said: “I have no idea how long I’m going to be a stand-up for, because I get more tired with every passing year.
“I just want to go up and do a show that is fun.”
Paul, who is married to Oliver Levy, also told ‘Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast’: “Without wishing to sound bleak, my time is running out. I don’t know to what degree my time is running out.
“It could be five years, it could be 10. I just want to go, ‘I’m enjoying myself.’
“I think it’s important to end your career with no regrets.”

Jeremy Clarkson’s farm show hailed as ‘brilliant’ for agricultural industry

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson’s Amazon farm show has been hailed as “brilliant” for the agricultural industry by ‘Countryfile’ host Matt Baker.
The former ‘Top Gear’ presenter, 64, has been attacked by some for making light of the business by showcasing his regularly chaotic attempts to run his Diddly Squat farm near Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds on his ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ series.
But ex-‘Blue Peter’ host Matt, 46, who lives on a farm in Hertfordshire with his wife Nicola Mooney and their two children, Luke and Molly, has declared Jeremy is drawing a “new audience to rural TV”.
He was quoted by the Daily Star saying: “For Clarkson to come into this world and question it and say, ‘What’s happened to this? Why is this like this?’ – those are brilliant questions that actually need answering.
“He’s brought a whole new audience to rural TV.”
Jeremy, who also fronts ITV’s ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ host, bought his farm in 2008 but only took over the running of the land in 2019 when the local villager who had been maintaining the farm retired.
He renamed the Sarsden estate Diddly Squat and has been documenting his attempts to turn profits from the 1,000-acre plot for Amazon since June 2021.
His ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ series was renewed for a fourth run in November last year.
Matt has hosted ‘Countryfile’ since 2009 and has also presented ‘Our Dream Farm’, which featured him searching for new applicants to take on a ten year lease at Gallows Hill Farm on the National Trust’s Wallington estate.
He regularly keeps fans updated on his farm and livestock, which include chickens and sheep.
Matt also said about Jeremy bringing farming into the mainstream: “He’s effectively come to this world and he’s realising and noticing things that those who are experienced have just learned to deal with, but I think highlighting those issues is really important.”

Inside No 9 has entire episode shot through ‘doorbell camera’ in latest twist

OHMYGOSSIP — Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton shot an entire ‘Inside No. 9’ episode through a “doorbell camera”.
The long running BBC dark comedy anthology series is returning on Wednesday (08.05.24) for its ninth and final series, and the duo – who created, wrote and starred in the show – have still managed to find creative and unique ways to tell their stories.
Steve told the BBC: “I’m really fond of ‘Mulberry Close’, which we wrote early on.
“We had a concept of just shooting an episode through a fixed doorbell camera and the writing of it was really fun and exciting and the filming of it was great, because you didn’t have to do lots of takes.
“It was almost like doing little mini plays, each scene was just one take. And I think it’s got all the elements that are perfect ‘No.9’.”
For Steve, those elements including having the right collection of actors, some humour, tension, and a good twist.
He added: “It’s really funny, it’s got a great cast, it doesn’t go the way you think it’s going to go, it’s got a different way of filming to the normal television that you see and that means that viewers will constantly be on edge.
“So yeah, that’s certainly one of my favourites.”
Meanwhile, Reece – who Steve has also worked with on ‘League of Gentlemen’ and ‘Psychoville’ in the past – loved getting to go back in time for another episode in this final run.
He said: “I liked doing – because we haven’t done very many of them in ‘No.9’ – the period episode called ‘The Curse of The Ninth’.
“It’s just nice to dress up in not tracksuit bottoms, and the sort of quite mundane clothes that we normally find ourselves wearing.
“It feels like you’re elevating the whole experience of filming when you’re in a country house and it’s all very lavish. So that was fun to do.”

The Fortune Hotel has been ‘full of drama’ and ‘friction’ between contestants

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Fortune Hotel’ will be “full of drama” and “friction” between contestants.
The new ITV game show – which is hosted by comedian Stephen Mangan – sees 10 pairs travel to Grenada in the Caribbean where they will swap suitcases as they try to win the £250,000 prize.
As quoted by The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column, contestant Cherish admitted: “There were frictions.”
The hopefuls on the show include everyone from a barrister and a bartender to a bricklayer, with people from all “different backgrounds”.
Stephen said: “We’ve got people of all ages, from different backgrounds.
“Some got on like a house on fire. Some wanted to set each other’s houses on fire.
“Every day ends with The Night Cap at the bar, when the contestants have a chance to swap cases.”
The tension didn’t stop in the evening though, with the pairs brought together to make their choices.
Contestant Claire added: “The Night Cap was always full of drama.”
Host Stephen has been keeping busy, and he recently admitted he’s happy to keep busy because he’s terrified of being “stuck in the same thing”.
As well as his presenting roles, he’s also a radio host, actor and children’s author.
He told HELLO! magazine: “I have a low boredom threshold and love the fact that at my age I’m still getting offered stuff I’ve never done before.
“I have a fear of being stuck in the same thing. For some people that’s calming and reassuring – we all have mortgages and bills to pay and I know some people find it hard without a routine or steady income.
“Careers also rise and fall and maybe I won’t get any work for a while. But I relish that challenge.
“I constantly need to stretch myself. I don’t know where I’ll be next year and I like not knowing.”

Peter Farrelly directing a film about the making of Rocky

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Farrelly is to direct a film about the making of ‘Rocky’.
The 67-year-old filmmaker is to helm the movie ‘I Play Rocky’, which tells the story of how Sylvester Stallone bet on himself to play the career-defining role in the 1976 sports film.
A logline for the project reads: “A struggling actor with a partially paralysed face and a speech impediment writes a script that a big movie studio wants to buy, but he refuses to sell it unless he gets to play the lead.
“Turning down an offer of life-changing money, he instead works for pennies to get the movie made with himself in the starring role.
“The movie becomes the biggest box office hit of 1976, notching 10 Oscar nominations and winning Best Picture. The true story of the making of the iconic movie ‘Rocky’.”
‘Green Book’ director Farrelly is producing the flick alongside former Warner Bros. Motion Picture boss Toby Emmerich and Christian Baha – while Peter Gamble is penning the script.
Emmerich said: “I’ve been a fan of Peter Farrelly as both a filmmaker and a person since getting to work with him on the music for ‘Dumb and Dumber’.
“But it was ‘Green Book’ that made think of Pete for this inspiring screenplay. Christian Baha and I feel blessed to have Pete at the helm for this movie.
“And like the unknown Stallone starring in ‘Rocky’, Pete will be conducting a worldwide search to discover another actor who just needs one shot – in ‘I Play Rocky’ – to show the world what he can do.”
Baha added: “When I first read Peter Gamble’s energetic and poignant script, I knew it captured something very special. The story of ‘I Play Rocky’ is as unique as Sylvester Stallone himself, a seeming Everyman with an undeniable gift who needs to share it with the world and refuses to take ‘no’ for an answer.”

Charlie Cox to star in rom-com Merv

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Cox has been cast alongside Zooey Deschanel in the rom-com ‘Merv’.
The 41-year-old actor has signed up to star in the film that is being directed by Jessica Swale for Amazon MGM Studios.
The picture centres on an estranged couple who find out that the dog they share is depressed following their break-up and decide to have an awkward reconciliation when they take their pooch on a sunny holiday to Florida to lift his spirits.
Other stars to have boarded the cast include Chris Redd, Patricia Heaton, David Hunt, Ellyn Jameson, Wynn Everett, Jasmine Matthews and Joey Slotnick.
Linsey Stewart and Dane Clark have penned the screenplay with Matt Beer and Roma Downey producing the film.
Charlie is known for portraying Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the TV series ‘Daredevil’ and other projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and explained that he feels a “responsibility” to set the tone whenever he plays a leading role on the screen.
He told Total Film magazine: “I think there’s a responsibility for you to set a tone.
“I’ve been on sets where the lead actor has not fully embraced that, and it can lead to strange feelings on set.”
Cox has experienced success on both screen and stage during his career but has still retained some of his long-standing superstitions.
He said: “On stage, I annoyingly buy into some of those things, like you never say the name of the Scottish play, and I try not to whistle. I don’t buy into it – I just don’t want to risk it!”

Harry Hill announces huge anniversary comedy tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Hill has announced a ‘New Bits and Greatest Hits’ tour to celebrate his “diamond jubilee”.
The former ‘TV Burp’ host – who turns 60 in October – is hitting the road from February to September 2025, and he joked it will mark the return of his ‘Badger Parade’.
He said in a statement: “I’m looking forward to celebrating my diamond jubilee – 60 years of fun – by going round the country and thanking all the people that have supported me over the years.
“I’ve had a word with the badgers and they’ve agreed that for one last time the parade’s on!”
Fans of the old ‘Harry Hill’ series – which aired from 1997 to 2000 on Channel 4 – will remember how the Badger Parade was meant to end each episode with a range of puppet badgers.
However, each week there would be a problem which meant they couldn’t perform, and so Harry would usually have to close the show by singing a song with a guest.
In a press release, his team teased: “Marvel as he offers new insights into the hot topics of the day such as the demise of the SCART lead, The Culture Wars, the differences between crabsticks and rhubarb and the origins of Tiramisu!
“Guffaw with delight as Harry delves into his back catalogue using his patented ‘Old Bit Randomiser’ for old favourites like ‘Interspecies Tennis’, ‘The time I went up in the Space Shuttle’ and ‘When Nan got her hair caught in the knitting!’ ”
The tour – which kicks off with a five night run at Wilton’s Music Hall in London from February 18, 2025 – will also give a member of the audience the chance to join him on stage as a double act.
Harry – who has also hosted the likes of ‘You’ve Been Framed’ and ‘Junior Bake Off’ – will travel extensively across the UK until early June, before picking back up again for a string of dates in September.
Tickets go on sale on Friday (10.05.24) from harryhill.co.uk.

Nicola Coughlan ‘will play Doctor Who companion’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Coughlan will reportedly play a companion in the upcoming ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas special.
It was reported last year the 37-year-old ‘Bridgerton’ actress – who also starred in ‘Derry Girls’ – would be joining Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor in the TARDIS for the festive episode, rather than Millie Gibson, 19, or Varada Seethu, 31.
The Daily Mirror has now reported Nicola will take on a lead role a companion for the Fifteenth Doctor on Christmas Day (25.12.24).
When her casting was first announced, showrunner Russell T Davies said: “This has been the most brilliant shoot, with Nicola lighting up the set and bringing joy.
“From Derry, via Bridgerton, to the TARDIS, it’s the trip of a lifetime.”
Nicola added: “I’ve been a fan of Ncuti Gatwa for some time and getting to share the screen with him as the Doctor has been an absolute joy.”
Ncuti, 31, and Nicola were both cast in ‘Barbie’ last year, and they will be reunited for the Christmas episode.
The actor will kickstart his first full series on the show this Saturday (11.05.24), with Millie’s Ruby Sunday by his side.
Russell, 61, has confirmed while he has written six of the eight episodes for season 14, he has made sure to increase diversity in the writing room in preparation the 15th series.
The sixth episode, ‘Rogue’, has been penned by Kate Herron and Briony Redman, and the ‘Doctor Who’ boss was conscious of limited the voices in the scripts.
He explained to Men’s Journal: “I hugely admire Kate Herron’s work on ‘Loki’.
“Obviously, I wanted women writing, and I’m aware that we haven’t got enough women writing or writers of colour, which we’re fixing in the next series to come.
“Kate and I made contact over ‘Loki’, and she then introduced me to Briony, who might not be so well known unless you move in comedy circles – where in improv and stand-up she’s a legend – and they just bring their own style.”

Rylan Clark shaken by homophobic abuse in streets of Venice

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark wanted to “knock out” a man who hurled homophobic abuse at him during filming.
The 35-year-old presenter was shooting his new BBC travel series ‘Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour’ with Rob Rinder in Italy when they joined an underground drag collective called ‘House of Serenissima’.
Appearing on Olivia Attwood’s ‘So Wrong It’s Right’ podcast, Rylan revealed how the people would meet “behind closed doors because they didn’t feel safe”.
The duo joined the group and walked through the streets of Venice, and Rylan recalled: “We were walking through and one thing that really stood out was someone shouted out something in Italian.
“It was a young guy, probably 20 something, I turned to one of the drag queens and said, ‘What did he just say?’ And they said, ‘Burn the f–’ers.’
“I’m now 20 foot in a pair of heels, I wanted to go mad. I wanted to go after this bloke and basically knock him out.”
However, moments later Rylan’s faith in humanity was given a boost by “the older generation”.
He recalled: “200m later there was a group of old nonnas, probably in their 90s, and they all stood up and clapped us.
“It was that realisation of thinking we always blame the older generation for everything, they’re backwards in their thinking, when actually it was that generation that was applauding this collective for being comfortable in who they are, and yet it was our generation of people who were shouting out ‘burn the f–’s.'”
It was a powerful moment which shows the drag queens that there are people there “looking after” them.
He added: “That was a real realisation moment, not just for us, but for them as well.
“They realised the people they thought we would offend or upset are the ones looking after us. It was really beautiful.”

Kim Kardashian being booed during Tom Brady roast cut by Netflix!

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian being booed during ‘The Roast of Tom Brady’ has been edited out of the comedy special by Netflix.
The reality TV veteran, 43, was one of the panel of roasters who lined up to mock the retired NFL player, 46, during the live-streamed special, which aired on Sunday (05.05.24), and ended up being loudly heckled by the crowd for more than 10 seconds at the Kia Forum in California when she took to the stage before she had even made her first joke.
But the version of the special now available on the streamer has a disclaimer saying the show has been “edited from a previous livestream”, with the boos now removed.
Host Kevin Hart’s attempts to calm down the crowd have also been slashed from show.
During the original stream, the shouting began as Kevin, 44, introduced Kim – which was so loud she had to restart her first gag.
She told her critics: “Alright, alright,” as Kevin cried out: “Whoa, whoa, whoa” from his seat.
Despite Kevin backing her, Kim’s first gag was aimed at Kevin, when she mocked his height and the size of his manhood.
She then roasted Tom with a string of sexual jokes.
Kim and Tom were rumoured to have dated in the past and one of her jokes referenced the gossip, with the reality star saying: “I wasn’t gonna come tonight, but since I’m not here as Tom’s date, there’s still a good chance I might.”
Also referencing her sex tape scandal, she added: “Speaking of Tom and I dating, I know there were some rumours that we were, and I’d never say if we did or not. I’d just release the tape.”
Kim appeared to grow on the audience as the special went on and she received a wave of applause for a joke about her dating Tom that referenced her 74-year-old transgender stepdad Caitlyn Jenner: “I do know it would never work out. An ex-athlete, high cheekbones, silky hair – you remind me too much of my stepdad.”
‘The Roast of Tom Brady’ reached two million views and landed sixth in the Netflix Top 10 of most watched shows.
It was one of three livestreamed events during the ‘Netflix is a Joke Fest’, which also included ‘Katt Williams: Woke Foke’ and ‘John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Whitehouse is fronting a new show about the history of comedy sketches.
The former ‘Fast Show’ star, 66, will host ‘Paul Whitehouse’s Sketch Show Years’ on Gold, which will be curated and narrated by the comic and take viewers on a journey through his favourite British skits from the last 60 years – with each episode covering a decade.
Paul said about the upcoming show, which will aur in June: “I don’t generally describe myself as an expert in anything – but I suppose it’s fair to say if there’s one subject I do know a bit about, it’s sketch comedy.
“It’s been great going back over the classics and reminding myself what’s really made me laugh and inspired me the most since I was a kid.”
Shows including ‘The Two Ronnies’, ‘Not the Nine O’Clock News’, ‘Harry Enfield and Chums’, ‘The Fast Show’ and ‘The Catherine Tate Show’ are set to be featured.
The series was commissioned for UKTV by its head of factual and factual entertainment Helen Nightingale, and ordered by Gerald Casey, channel director for Gold and Hilary Rosen, director of commissioning.
It is produced by North One Television with John Quinn as executive producer and Chris Hill and Julia Hunter as series producers.
Helen said: “It’s an absolute pleasure to be working with North One again, and with Paul Whitehouse on this series.

Gerald Casey added: “We are delighted to have Paul Whitehouse back on the channel, he is a comedy legend and I know that Gold viewers are going to be so excited to hear his take on the sketch shows from the last five decades.”

Anya Taylor-Joy was ‘traumatised’ after watching Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

OHMYGOSSIP — Anya Taylor-Joy was left “traumatised” when she watched ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ back.
The 28-year-old star plays the titular character in George Miller’s prequel to ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ and has reflected on how watching a rough cut of the picture provoked a strong emotional reaction.
Anya told Variety: “Within the first three minutes, I’m crying. And afterward, I cannot speak. I found it very traumatising to watch.”
The ‘Last Night in Soho’ actress also revealed that Miller constantly wanted her to perform scenes with her mouth closed – although she could understand why in the context of the movie.
Anya said: “We’d do takes where he’d be like, ‘Do it again with your mouth closed.’ He has a thing about my mouth. He thinks when my mouth is open, I look too young.
“This is the wasteland, and any outbreak of emotion is punished by death. Any empathy is punished by death – any kindness, really. It all made sense to me.
“I think the restrictions that were placed on me by George did create a radiation off the character, because she is being suppressed continuously throughout the film.”
The star thinks that she may have been selected for the part of Furiosa by Miller because she is not a performer who relies heavily on her voice.
Taylor-Joy said: “Furiosa doesn’t talk much. She’s a pretty silent character.
“I hope that’s part of the reason George chose me. Until I was doing Furiosa, I didn’t quite realise that’s been a lot of my career – a lot of my career has played out in my eyes.”

Wes Ball pleads for Planet of the Apes patience

OHMYGOSSIP — Wes Ball admits that it will “take time” to make further movies in the ‘Planet of the Apes’ franchise.
The 43-year-old director has helmed the latest blockbuster ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ – which has been billed as the beginning of a new trilogy in the sci-fi action series – but has suggested that quality will take precedence over speed in terms of future flicks.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Wes said: “It’ll take as long as it takes. Fortunately, because this franchise is important to the studio, we’ll get it right like we did this one, took our time and got it right.
“It takes time, the development itself, and my big thing is I do not want to go into prep when the script is not done. I’ve had to do that in the past. Nothing good comes from that.”
He continued: “That’s one of the biggest things that movies could be doing right now is stop doing that. We’d save a ton of money.
“I think on this one that we are in good, good shape. Fortunately, we were thinking a lot about these questions when we were developing this script.”
The filmmaker explained that there is “lots of room for great drama” in the wake of the new movie – which sees Owen Teague taking over the lead role as chimpanzee Noa.
Wes said: “We have an idea where we wanna go and there’s lots of room for great drama. Literally, doors have opened at the end of this movie that hopefully reveal a much larger world that we get to explore in this movie, full of drama, full of conflict, all that kind of stuff. Fingers crossed. We’ll see.”

Sydney Sweeney going back to her roots in hard hitting boxing biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Sydney Sweeney has been cast as boxer Christy Martin in a new biopic.
The 26-year-old ‘Euphoria’ actress – who has recently appeared in the likes of ‘Anyone But You’ and ‘Immaculate’ – is once again switching directions as she takes on the role of a boxing trailblazer described by producers as the “female Rocky”.
Sweeney told Deadline: “Christy Martin not only legitimized female boxing, she overcame gender stereotypes, and fought through emotional, physical, and financial abuse.
“I’m passionate about the fighting world, Christy’s story shines a light on her incredible rise to the top while showing the struggles of fame behind the curtains.
“I feel compelled to tell a story about a woman who faced so much adversity and didn’t allow it to defeat her. It’s powerful, and emotional.”
The ‘White Lotus’ star is no stranger to boxing and MMA, and she is excited to “get back into the ring” again.
She added: “I grappled and did kickboxing from 12-19 years old. I’ve been itching to get back into the ring, train, and transform my body.
“Christy’s story isn’t a light one, it’s physically and emotionally demanding, there’s a lot of weight to carry. But I love challenging myself.”
The movie – which will be directed by ‘Animal Kingdom’ filmmaker David Michôd – is yet to have a name but it will follow the true story of Martin’s rise in the 1990s.
As well as becoming the first woman to sign with promoter Don King, she also appered as the only female boxer to land the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Away from her public persona, she battled her own personal demos, along with toxic relationships and even an attempt on her life.
Michôd said: “I have a history of making movies about damaged men and I’d been wanting to make a film about a woman with a ferocious energy inside her.
“When I came across the Christy Martin story two years ago I knew I’d found it. Her ferocity is intelligible and justifiable and audiences will crave it because of the circumstances she was forced to endure.”
The script has been written by Michôd and Mirrah Foulkes, and promises to delve into her personal life.
The director added: “The film is about Christy as a young gay woman in small-town West Virginia in the 1990s.
“She came from a relatively conservative family and wasn’t allowed to be who she was so she used boxing as a vehicle to express herself and her rage.”
