Paul Walter Hauser is the ‘straight man’ in The Naked Gun reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Walter Hauser plays the “straight man” in ‘The Naked Gun’ reboot.
The 37-year-old actor is starring in the crime caper as Captain Ed Hocken and has given an insight into his alter ego’s relationship with Liam Neeson’s Frank Drebin Jr. – the son of Leslie Nielsen’s detective from the original movies.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Paul said: “I play Frank Drebin’s partner. He’s played by Liam Neeson this time around, and I get to, in some ways, be the straight man to his comedic chaos, and it has been a lot of fun.”
The ‘Richard Jewell’ actor explained that he is a huge fan of director Akiva Schaffer and lived a dream working on one of his projects with co-stars including Neeson and Pamela Anderson.
Paul said: “I’m a massive lifelong fan of Akiva Schaffer, I think ‘Popstar’ and ‘Hot Rod’, and ‘I Think You Should Leave’, just everything he’s had his hand in, I think really is comedic brilliance.
“I would’ve served sandwiches on an Akiva Schaffer set, so to get play opposite Liam Neeson and have scenes with the Danny Huston’s, and Kevin Durand’s and Pam Anderson’s, it’s pretty awesome, man. I really look forward to this one.”
Paul previously admitted that his acting skills have improved significantly over the course of his career and likened his development to Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl’s views on his music progression.
He said: “I really liken my acting to how Dave Grohl talks about music; like, you can be classically trained or you can just suck and then get good.
“I don’t think I ever sucked sucked, but I definitely wasn’t where I am now.”

Linda Robson moved to tears while recording audiobook of memoir tackling her suicide watch

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Robson stopped recording the audiobook of her autobiography as a segment about her being put on suicide watch made her weep.
The 66-year-old ‘Loose Women’ regular, who has battled alcoholism and severe depression during her six-decade acting and presenting career, is now enjoying life but has admitted one section of her memoir tackling her mental health battle was so traumatising to read aloud it moved her to tears.
She was quoted in the Daily Mirror saying: “The depression and the suicide watch I was on was really hard, especially when I recorded the audio.
“I had to stop because I was crying my eyes out. They told me to go and sit down and have a nice cup of tea and then come back afterwards and I did.”
Linda has now beaten the blues and been four years sober, but was afflicted with depression in 2018 when she had a breakdown and went to rehab.
She added about turning to Alcoholics Anonymous for help: “I met two people today who I went to AA with before.
“I used to go there all the time, for a year. One of them is now 20 years sober, and he asked me how long I’ve been sober and I told him, ‘It’s been four years since I’ve had a drink.’
“It was really nice to see him as well. They’re doing really well.”
Linda has told Bella magazine about giving up booze: “I think you have to keep yourself busy. If you’re sitting at home, which I was doing for two years, practically, in the house, and someone had to stay with me all the time. You have to keep yourself busy and find things to do.”
Linda’s book also tells how she shot to fame as a child actress before making it big alongside her long-term friend Pauline Quirke, 64, when they starred together as wives of jailed gangsters in the BBC sitcom ‘Birds of a Feather’. She has also been a panellist on ITV’s daytime chat show ‘Loose Women’ since 2012, and her ‘Truth Be Told: Tales from a Baggy Mouth’ autobiography came out in February.
Linda added about her book: “There’s obviously a lot about depression, but I wanted there to be lots of nice stuff also. I always say that I am an ordinary woman, but extraordinary things have happened to me.”

Joel Dommett nearly missed birth of his son as he was eating lamb shank

OHMYGOSSIP — Joel Dommett almost missed the birth of his son because he was eating a posh lamb dinner.
‘The Masked Singer’ host, 38, and his wife Hannah Cooper, 34, had their boy at a private hospital in September, and the presenter has now said he was so intent on getting his “money’s worth” at the pricey facility he decided to tuck into two feasts while his partner was in the throes of a 30-hour long labour.
He told the ‘Dish’ podcast: “We were in this lucky scenario where we did it privately – by that I mean medically, not alone.
“All you need to know about the story is, is I’m unbelievably tight, like I really… this is the most money I’ve ever spent on anything in my life.
“There was this point about eight hours in, this lady came in with a piece of paper and I said, ‘Oh, hello what’s that?’
“And she said, ‘Oh, it’s a menu.’ And I said, ‘Is it included?’ And she said, ‘Yes, of course it’s included,’ and I was like, ‘Oh my God, amazing.’
“And I then went across the menu and tried to sort of order what I thought looked to be the most expensive – as much as I could for money, and I pick what I thought my wife wanted at that point.”
Opening up about how he ordered duck with a red wine jus in the thick of Hannah’s labour, he went on: “About twelve hours in, we’re then in the throes of it – it’s happening.
“The gown is off, the contractions are happening quickly, there’s urine on the floor – it’s all going on I’m just trying my best, you know.
“That’s the point where the duck with a red wine jus arrives.
“And, immediately the room smells so much and my wife’s like, ‘What’s that smell?’ And I have to say, ‘It’s duck with a red wine jus.’
“I’m trying to eat this duck with a red wine jus as quickly as possible because I’m not going to get rid of it.
“And she’s like, ‘What did you get for me?’ And I say, ‘A ham sandwich’ – I got her a ham sandwich.
“And I give her the ham sandwich, I eat the duck with red wine jus, and then the birth ended up being very long.”
After Hannah’s labour stretched to 30 hours, Joel ordered the lamb shank that nearly led to him missing his boy’s delivery.
He said: “We got to about 30 hours in – too long! I’m like, I’ve got to go back for the ‘Friends’ rerun.
“And she has an epidural and she has a little sleep, and they said, ‘After you’ve had your sleep, you’re gonna push and your baby’s gonna be born.
“While she was having a sleep, I thought this is a perfect time for another meal. And so I didn’t make the same mistake as before I left the room.
“What I didn’t know was that whilst I was out of the room, she woke up and they said, ‘Oh, it’s time to push – it’s time to birth your baby.’
“So she starts pushing and delivering the baby and then suddenly sort of like, ‘Where’s my husband? Where’s my husband?’
“One nurse goes, ‘I don’t know,’ and another nurse goes, ‘He’s next door having a lamb shank.”

David Walliams promises new ‘Little Britain’ will be as ‘edgy’ as original

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams has vowed the new version of ‘Little Britain’ will be as edgy as the original.
The 52-year-old TV star wrote and appeared in the controversial BBC Three sketch show – which ran from 2003 to 2006 – alongside Matt Lucas, 50, and has promised the newly-revived programme will include non-PC jokes akin to what had come before in the original and their other popular comedy ‘Come Fly With Me’, but insisted the content would not be conveyed in “terrible taste”.
During an appearance on ‘The Therapy Crouch’ podcast, he said: “We’re writing again but we want to do entirely new characters like ‘Come Fly With Me’.
“It’s a little bit edgy, there are jokes in it that are like, not in terrible taste, but – you – know – like ‘Little Britain’ was and ‘Come Fly With Me’.
“No, it’s not trendy, it’s edgy.
“It’s walking a line that some people might be a little shocked at.”
The show came under fire for its stereotypical ethnic and social portrayals which were deemed derogatory to groups from the LGBTQ community and wheelchair users.
When the reboot of the comedy programme was announced last year, Matt emphasised it would be “different in many ways” from what was originally seen in an effort to avoid backlash.
He told The Sun newspaper: “The show will be different in many ways.
“We are talking about how we can have diverse talent on screen and in the writers’ room and conceive it as something which is just not about me and David playing absolutely everyone.
“That is something we should have done but didn’t do back then.
“But we were making the show at the same time as many other people who were doing what we were doing and had that approach.”
The comedian insisted he and his co-writer didn’t want to cause any “further upset” with the new version of the programme.
He explained: “Because some people are upset about what we do, or what we have done, out of respect to those people I don’t talk about it publicly because I don’t want to cause further upset to people who were upset.
“I totally accept there are different opinions.
“I accept people feel very differently from others and I respect everyone’s opinion from wherever they come from on this subject. I see things differently now to how we did.
“Things have changed and I respect that.”

Millie Gibson planning to go ‘completely out of comfort zone’ for next job after Doctor Who

OHMYGOSSIP — Millie Gibson wants to push herself “completely out of [her] comfort zone” on her next job once she has left ‘Doctor Who’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress, 19, debuted in the new series of the BBC show as Ruby Sunday alongside the Time Lord, played by 31-year-old Ncuti Gatwa, last Saturday (11.05.24), and was rumoured to be exiting the programme next year.
Millie has now told the Radio Times about her future career plans: “‘Doctor Who’ is super challenging but I’d love to do something that’s completely out of my comfort zone.
“In this industry, you can’t even fathom what you could do next. If someone had said to me at ‘Corrie’, ‘you will be a ‘Doctor Who’ companion’, I’d have said, ‘haha, not sure about that’. So I’ll go wherever it takes me.”
Even though Millie has loved her time on the show so far, the actress admitted working on ‘Doctor Who’ was more intense than when she appeared on ‘Coronation Street’.
She added: “‘Coronation Street’ runs like clockwork as we were doing 10 to 13 scenes a day.
“It definitely geared me up for this experience because Ncuti and I are primarily the only two people in the cast – we’re in every scene, every day!
“So they’re different shows but can be quite similar. They are both iconic British dramas too, and each has a level of pressure, but this one [‘Doctor Who’] is a little bit more pressure!”
After rumours began to circulate about Millie’s impending departure, ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner Russell T. Davies insisted she would stay for at least the next two years.
When SFX Magazine asked if the actress would soon be exiting the show, he said: “Not leaving. Not at all.”
Russell, 61, added: “We were ordered for two years of a series off Disney, and we’re delivering two years, and the Ruby Sunday story literally spans those two years.
“We are planning [to] shoot the [season two] finale in which Ruby has the most magnificent scenes, and Millie, it’s some of your most challenging material yet, isn’t it? It will all make sense once you see it play out.”

God Versus Aliens to premiere at Cannes and reveal Vatican UFO secrets

OHMYGOSSIP — The documentary ‘God Versus Aliens’ is to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and reveal the Vatican’s secrets about UFOs.
The award-winning filmmaker Mark Christopher Lee says that the Vatican publishing new guidance on apparitions means that the full disclosure about the UFO phenomena is getting closer.
He said: “The Vatican has been studying UFOs for decades and even has its own Cardinal appointed to deal with first contact. From my research I believe that this new guidance on apparitions is proof that they know that UFOs are more than just physical crafts from other worlds and that they have a paranormal side to them.”
The film is premiering at Cannes this week and analyses the role that the Vatican has played in keeping the truth about UFOs hidden from the public and suggests they believe – along with members of the US and UK governments – that the spacecrafts are demonic in origin.
Lee added: “I have spoken to some UFO researchers who actually believe that the Vatican are collaborating in the cover up with the US military. The fact is the truth may be too scary for it to be revealed which is why we are not seeing full UFO disclosure.
“We could handle the fact that there is Alien life on other planets, but could we handle life from other dimensions or realms of existence?”
The film also studies the role that AI will play in the hunt for extraterrestrial life and features a contribution from Harvard Professor Avi Loeb, who controversially claims that Alien AI will bypass humanity completely and form a bond with artificial intelligence on Earth.
‘God Versus Aliens’ will be out this summer on all platforms.

The Hunt For Gollum will explore unseen parts of character’s journey

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Hunt For Gollum’ will “delve into” parts of the character’s journey fans haven’t seen on screen before.
Filmmaker Peter Jackson is set to serve as executive producer on the new ‘Lord of the Rings’ spin-off movie, which will see Andy Serkis reprise his role as well as directing the project, and Jackson insisted it made sense to explore Gollum/Sméagol more than the likes of Aragorn (Viggo Mortenson) and Legolas (Orlando Bloom).
He told Deadline: “The Gollum/Sméagol character has always fascinated me because Gollum reflects the worst of human nature, whilst his Sméagol side is, arguably, quite sympathetic.
“I think he connects with readers and film audiences alike, because there’s a little bit of both of them in all of us.
“We really want to explore his backstory and delve into those parts of his journey we didn’t have time to cover in the earlier films.”
While Jackson insisted it’s “too soon” to make any guesses about what other characters could turn up, he did promise to stay true to ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ author JRR Tolkien’s vision.
He added: “It’s too soon to know who will cross his path, but suffice to say we will take our lead from Professor Tolkien.”
Serkis has been a pioneer in motion capture and voice acting since taking on the role of Gollum, and Jackson insisted there was no doubt he’d be returning for this despite not playing the character for over a decade.
He explained: “Andy was a joy to work with directing Second Unit on ‘The Hobbit’.
“He has the energy and imagination and, most importantly, an inherent understanding of the world and of the story that is needed to step back into Middle-earth.
“We have collaborated on eight films together and each time it has been a fantastic experience. There’s no one on this Earth better equipped to tackle Gollum’s story than Andy.”

Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2 confirmed by Netflix

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ has been confirmed by Netflix.
The streaming giant has revealed Adam Sandler will reprise his role as the titular character in a follow up to the 1996 movie.
A post on Netflix’s X account read: “Happy Gilmore is back! Adam Sandler will reprise his iconic role in a brand new movie coming to Netflix.”
‘Happy Gilmore’ tells the story of Sandler’s unsuccessful ice hockey player character, who discovers he has a talent for golf and competes in a tournament to raise money and save his grandmother’s house.
Following the confirmation, golf’s PGA Tour wrote on X: “He’s baaack. @AdamSandler @Netflix (sic)”
The news comes just a month after Sandler seemingly confirmed ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ to Drew Barrymore.
The 49-year-old actress was thrilled when Christopher McDonald – who portrayed Shooter McGavin in the 1996 golfing comedy – recently teased a sequel was in the works, so she texted her ‘Fifty First Dates’ co-star to find out if it was true he’s written a new screenplay.
Discussing the subject in a clip for the ‘Drew’s News’ segment of her eponymous talk show, Drew said: “Are you kidding me? I want it. I need it and I stayed up last night with my daughter watching ‘Billy Madison’.
“And then I sent Sandler a video of that and then he sent me another video back and I’m waiting to see if he’s confirming about the ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ script because actor Christopher McDonald, who was Shooter McGavin, the bad guy. He was in the original film… he claims that Adam recently showed him a copy of the first draft to the sequel of Happy Gilmore.
“And so I’m waiting to find out if Christopher McDonald is correct, which I’m not doubting him.
“I’m a proper journalist, I sent him a picture of all of us [at the show].”
The clip then jumped and rejoined Drew as she looked at her phone and teased: “Well, this just in. I have breaking news. So I’ll just say this from my source that it is in process … so there is a process and that process is in process.”
McDonald revealed last month he’d seen a screenplay for the potential sequel.
Speaking on the US sports podcast ‘The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima’, he said: “I saw Adam about two weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this.’
“I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘How about that’, and he shows me the first draft of ‘Happy Gilmore 2’.
“I don’t wanna be a liar, but he did show me that, and I thought, ‘Well, that would be awesome.’ So, it’s in the works. Fans demand it, dammit!”

ITV bosses want Love Island to get Big Brother treatment for new series

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV is reportedly planning to give ‘Love Island’ the ‘Big Brother’ treatment for its upcoming launch.
The dating show – which is hosted by Maya Jama – is set to return for its 11th series next month, and it’s claimed ITV bosses want to repeat the success of Big Brother’s ‘simulcast’ from October 2023 by airing the first episode on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX for the first time in its history.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “ITV want to throw their weight behind ‘Love Island’ and make sure it has a big, glitzy moment when the 11th series kicks off next month.
“Showing it across every channel means creating what they hope will be a big TV moment.
“It shows there is still a real commitment to the format even nine years on.”
When ITV brought back ‘Big Brother’ last year, the launch pulled in 2.5 million overnight viewers, while last summer’s ‘Love Island’ launch hit 1.7 million including viewers from ITVX.
It’s hoped a ‘simulcast’ could give ratings a boost and help the show hit “every demographic”.
The source said: “Using the full might of ITV means reaching every demographic, including the crucial 16-34s.
“A cynic would say it also means wringing every inch out of the rating potential to prop up the stats, which have been dwindling recently.”
Late last year, it was claimed bosses were hoping to capitalise on the show’s success, by registering the ‘Love Island’ name so it can be used to create their own themed hotels.
A source told The Sun’s TVBiz column: “It may sound like a bit of a whacky idea but in many ways ‘Love Island’ hotels are a no-brainer.
“After all, the dating show is all about people basking in the sunshine by the poolside in luxurious accommodation.
“Then there’s the added prospect of finding love with someone while you are away. So they’re just trying to replicate the vibe of the show.
“Why not go the whole hog and give the hotels a total ‘Love Island’ feel?”

‘I’ve never spoken about it’: Charlie Webster suffers miscarriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Webster has suffered a miscarriage.
The Sky Sports broadcaster, 41 – who has been through five rounds of IVF – has spoken about having a miscarriage “very recently” for the first time, and admitted she had previously hoped to announce she was expecting around now.
During an appearance on ‘Lorraine’ on promote her new book, ‘Why It’s OK to Talk About Trauma: How to Make Sense of the Past and Grow Through the Pain’, she told host Lorraine Kelly: “I did get pregnant. I ended up having a miscarriage very recently.
“I was going to announce the pregnancy during the book’s release, so I would’ve been sat here telling you this great news.”
Charlie revealed she has struggled to get pregnant because of her “biological clock”, and she fears it may not happen for her now.
She said: “I’ve not ever spoke about it, and I’m glad you brought it up, because I’m 41, I feel like for so long I was told not to get pregnant.
“My mum had me at a very young age. We’re told to get our education, which is really important, and we’re pushed into career now.
“I strove for all these things, and I’m so proud of that and I have no regrets, and I encourage any women to do everything they want.
“But there is a warning here, that is important because I’m in this situation now where I’m like, ‘How did this happen? Nobody informed me that it’s actually hard to get pregnant. I don’t think this is going to happen for me.’
“It’s not because there’s something wrong with me. It is because of my biological age, and I know that’s scary for us, as women, to go, ‘No, there’s not a biological clock. Women can do anything, we can have it all.’
“But I actually think that’s really irresponsible. It’s another lie.
“It is true. Society has changed so much, which I’m so grateful for, but biological clock hasn’t. It is real.”
Speaking about undergoing five rounds of IVF, she added: “It’s horrific. We don’t talk about that ever.”

‘It was soul destroying’ Ted Lasso star nearly didn’t land role due to Hollywood film commitment

OHMYGOSSIP — Lloyd Griffith wasn’t supposed to be in ‘Ted Lasso’, but he landed a part in the show after a Hollywood role cruelly fell through.
The 40-year-old comedian portrays a reporter called Lloyd in the hit Apple TV+ series, but he nearly didn’t appear in the show because he had been cast in a unnamed Hollywood film.
Despite going for costume fittings, the movie part fell through because the director decided to re-cast him, after the filmmaker had a dream about his role.
He told the ‘RHLSTP’ podcast: “It was a really weird one, because ‘Ted Lasso’ is such an amazing series, but no one really knew how it was going to go at the start, and I wasn’t supposed to be in it.
“I’m still not really allowed to talk about it, but I got offered a lead role in a Hollywood film, and I took it and was going out to America and having wig fittings and costume fittings, and seven weeks later it went, and it was soul destroying.
“There were two parts and there were two of us who got replaced. The director just changed his mind. He had a dream apparently. The other actor is a huge Hollywood name.
“Word got round that I was in this Hollywood thing, and then Ted Lasso wanted to see me and it was one of the most amazing things in the world.”
Former ‘Soccer AM’ star Lloyd has heaped praise on ‘Ted Lasso’, describing the programme as the “perfect job”.
He added: “As a step into filming, it was just the perfect job.
“It’s a heartfelt, warm show and that’s exactly what it was like.”

Jeremy Clarkson crowned UK’s sexiest man for second year running

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson has been named the UK’s sexiest man for the second year in a row.
The 64-year-old presenter – known for his work on shows like ‘Clarkson’s Farm’, ‘The Grand Tour’ and ‘Top Gear’ – has once again been crowned the winner, despite facing competition from the likes of Idris Elba, Cillian Murphy and Prince William.
According to the annual poll from IllicitEncounters – which is billed as the “best online dating site for married people” – Jeremy scored nine out of 10 points.
‘Spider-Man’ star Tom Holland, 27, also appeared in the top 10, although he has had to settle for second place.
Prince William, 41, rounded out the top three, with the Sexiest Man poll voting on by 2,000 of the dating site’s female members.
To find the rankings, the women are tasked with scoring a list of 50 of the past year’s most famous and culturally revelant men from most to least ‘sexy’, and each name was then given a score from one to 10.
Jessica Leoni, a spokesperson for Illicitencounters.com, said: “Clarkson and his farm is a bit like Noah’s ark and just like the animal’s in that story, his victory in the Sexiest Man vote has come in twos.
“We all know about his brash persona, but the latest series of Diddly Squat has shown he can tug at heartstrings too – and clearly his famer look continues to set hearts racing.
“Just like last year’s poll, we knew providing our members with a list of 50 famous names across both genders and asking them to score them on their ‘sexiness’ would throw up some surprises – we’re not putting it past Clarkson to go for the three-peat next year!”
Elsewhere in the rankings, England boss Gareth Southgate, 53, was in fourth place, with Cillian Murphy following in fifth, while the likes of Mike Tindall and Ryan Reynolds fell out of the top five to 29th and 26th respectively.

He told Cosmopolitan UK: “The lads [fellow Islanders Michael Griffiths and Jordan Hames] had gone to the ‘Birds of Prey’ premiere, and they came back saying how they’d met Margot on the red carpet, and Margot was gassed to see them.
“We were sat around talking about it when someone got a message saying Margot wanted us all to come to the afterparty. I was actually in bed, but I said I’d come, as how often do you get to met Margot Robbie?
“She’s just really down to earth and cool. She’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.”
Speaking about his ‘Barbie’ audition, he added: “I was fully convinced it was a prank. These YouTubers, they’re clever, they’ll write full on contracts and do the prank video.

Jodie Comer starring in The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Comer has been cast in ‘The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde’.
The 31-year-old star is to play the lead role in Sir Kenneth Branagh’s latest directorial outing that is being described as a contemporary psychological thriller.
Plot details are yet to be revealed but the film – which has also been penned by the ‘Oppenheimer’ actor – is due to begin production in the UK in August.
There was said to be excitement in the industry when it was revealed recently that Branagh’s latest movie was ready to go after the success of his 2021 coming-of-age film ‘Belfast’, which took home the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, and the casting of Comer will only add to the anticipation for the picture.
Meanwhile, it was revealed earlier this month that Jodie would be starring with Hugh Jackman in ‘The Death Of Robin Hood’.
The film is being directed by Michael Sarnoski and has been billed as a dark take on the classic tale of Robin Hood with the titular character fighting with his past after a life of crime and murder.
Production is set to begin in February 2025 with Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett both set to produce for the Ryder Picture Company (RPC) alongside Alexander Black for Lyrical Media – who are fully financing the flick.
Sarnoski said in a statement: “It has been an incredible opportunity to reinvent and freshly innovate the story we all know of Robin Hood.
“Securing the perfect cast to transform the script to screen was essential. I could not be more thrilled and trusting in Hugh and Jodie to bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way.”
