Michael Cera plans to direct two movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Cera has two movies he plans to direct in the pipeline.
The 35-year-old actor has penned a script with his ‘Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point’ director Tyler Taormina and his fellow producer on the project, co-writer Eric Berger, for a picture called ‘Gummy’, but before he can start work on that, there’s something else he’s hoping to make first.
He told Deadline: “[We’ve written a film] that we’re trying to make that I’ll be directing, that we’ve been pushing along, and are going to hopefully push over the finish line, but we’re kind of in the middle of that. So we just started this team.
“I mean, basically I kind of glommed onto their existing team, and we all are just having a really good collaborative feeling.
“It’s a movie that I’ve been excited about for a long time, and well, it’s kind of a family story with a sort of mystery element, too, with a somewhat science-fictional thread throughout it.
“We’ve been pushing it along, and I’ve been trying to get it going as my first film, but I think I might make a different film before then, actually now, hopefully if everything comes together, which will hopefully just make things easier for the other one, because it’s challenging getting things made.”
‘Gummy’ is with “Ari Aster’s company, Square Peg, who are producing it” but last year’s Hollywood strikes delayed its development, meaning Michael’s second, currently untitled, project will get made first.
He said: “So then the writers strike and the actors strike kind of put a bit of a dent in our momentum, because it was right around the time we were about to go out looking for financing.
“But then it ended up being kind of a good thing, because in the meantime, I had this other project that I’ve developed, that I think is just kind of easier to get made.
“So I’m going to try and push that along, and then try and make the other one a huge success off the first one.”
The ‘Superbad’ star didn’t want to share many details about the other movie, other than to say it is “contemporary”.

George Miller hunts at more Mad Max movies

OHMYGOSSIP — George Miller is planning more ‘Mad Max’ films.
The 79-year-old filmmaker spent more than a decade working on prequel ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’, his fifth movie in the franchise across a 45-year period and he admitted there are “certainly” other stories he wants to tell featuring the same characters.
He told reporters at the Cannes Film Festival: “There are certainly other stories there. Mainly because in order to tell the story of Fury Road, we had to know the backstory of Furiosa and Max in the year before.
“That was a tool for the cast and crew. We know the Max story from the year before. I’ll definitely wait to see how this [‘Furiosa’] goes, before we even think about it.”
George admitted he’s amazed the franchise has been able to keep going for so long but he’d never have done so if he was just “repeating” the same story.
He said: “If you are just repeating what you’ve done, there’s no appetite to do that.
“I’ve often wondered, ‘Am I crazy?’ Then I realize I’m driven by my curiosity. I feel that I’m learning.”
George recently admitted he opted to cast Anya Taylor-Joy as a younger version of the title character as he wasn’t impressed by the use of de-ageing technology that has been used in films such as Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman’ and Ang Lee’s ‘Gemini Man’ so didn’t feel he could bring back Charlize Theron.
He told Variety: “Both of them were masterful directors, but it was never persuasive.
“I thought all people would be watching is Charlize looking young and knowing it’s an effect.”
The director has always been interested in the use of technology in cinema – as shown in films such as ‘Babe’ and ‘Happy Feet’ – but conceded that it would have been “difficult” to implement it in his latest blockbuster.
Miller said: “I mean basically, we’re following someone from the age of 10 to 26, 28, something like that. It would have been difficult.”

Rylan Clark reveals ‘best thing to come out of’ new show with Rob Rinder was blossoming friendship

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark thinks the “best thing to come out of” his new show with Rob Rinder is their unshakable friendship.
The 35-year-old TV star and the criminal barrister, 45, are gearing up to the release of their new BBC programme ‘Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour’, in which the bachelors go on romantic dates across Italy with different men.
Although he didn’t find love on his trip, Rylan insisted the show wasn’t wasted as he formed a “genuine” friendship with his co-star.
During an appearance on ‘This Morning’, he said: “Watching it back, the narrative, the arc throughout the three episodes even something as stupid as in Venice, we were in separate accommodation. In Florence, we were in the same accommodation in different rooms and by Rome I’m waking up with him underneath me.
“But that’s the narrative of the arc, we started this process as mates and we have finished it as actual genuine friends. That’s been probably the best thing to come out of it.”
This comes after the former ‘X Factor’ star was forced to deny rumours he had Rob were now in a budding relationship.
Taking to X, he penned: “The answer is no. I’m not dating Rob Rinder he’s one of my closest friends.”
Before working on the show, Rylan said he hoped his “luck with men [was] about to change”, as he had only been on two dates since he divorced Dan Neal in 2021.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Hopefully my luck with men is about to change.
“I always thought when you were younger, ‘Imagine if you were known, you would be able to get anyone you want.’ It’s the complete opposite.
“I’ve had two dates in the last two years.
“One of them was really, really great and was going well. And then my job was just too much for his life.
“And then the other one was so interested in my job, he decided to call the press.
“So they’re the two opposite ends of the spectrum. I need somebody in the middle that can deal with it, but don’t want it.”

Nicki Chapman takes ‘one day at a time’ after brain tumour ordeal

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Escape To The Country’ star Nicki Chapman still takes “one day at a time” after her “terrifying” brain tumour ordeal.
The 57-year-old television presenter is in remission after being diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2019, which was the “size of a golf ball”, and despite being a “very positive person”, it’s always in the back of her mind that it could return.
She told The Mirror: “It is a very frightening condition to be told you have and also such a shock for your family, too. Fortunately, my experience was a good one, my recovery was amazing, but I still take one day at a time. I’m a very positive person, so to always put a positive spin on life has helped keep me going.”
Nicki is a rare case where her tumour healed, and she was actually filming in a field of pigs when she got the good news that she was “all-clear”.
She said: “I was filming Escape To The Country and standing in a field of pigs when my consultant phoned me. He told me my brain tumour had gone. I asked him, ‘Is that usual? ‘ And he said, ‘Yes, but it’s quite rare.’ I immediately phoned my husband Dave and we were both in tears. It was such a huge relief to us both.”
Some of her scary symptoms included not being able to see or speak.
She shared: “I went on holiday, felt fine, came back, did a photoshoot and that afternoon realised I couldn’t see again. Then I had to do a voiceover and I couldn’t speak. I walked into the edit, sat down and the editor was chatting away, and I looked at him and thought, ‘I can’t talk to you.’ Nothing was coming out.”

Gemma Collins ‘wanted to die’ after I’m A Celeb exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins “wanted to die” because of the “embarrassment” she faced following her ‘I’m A Celebrity …Get Me Out Of Here!’ exit.
The former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star, 43, left the ITV programme in 2014 after just three days in the jungle, and was ridiculed for her struggles on the show.
Now, Gemma has admitted she wanted to take her own life when she was taunted with horrible comments about her appearance.
She told the MailOnline’s podcast: “All the embarrassment of like, you know what the TV programmes were saying, ‘Gemma Collins left the jungle, she was hungry, she was this’, and it wasn’t my fault.
“I can remember laying in my flat where I lived and just thinking I just want to die.
“I haven’t done nothing wrong. I’ve left the jungle because of something that happened to me.
“No one was even honest about what happened to me, so I had to walk around with this shame that I’d something wrong.”
Before she had even arrived Down Under to film the programme, Gemma was attacked by an ex-boyfriend, and it left her emotionally fragile – which heightened her negative experience on the show.
Despite her struggles, Gemma insisted leaving ‘I’m A Celeb’ was her “biggest regret” because she fancied her chances of being crowned ‘Queen of the Jungle’.
She explained: “I’m gutted about because I feel like I was robbed of my moment and then I was also made to feel like the worse person on earth.
“So that’s in the past but it has affected me for sure. But that’s my biggest kind of regret with the jungle because I probably would have gone on to win the show.
“I would have been hilarious on there you can see from the first couple of days I was in there. But all the psychological like, s***, that was given to me after that, I could have killed myself.
“I actually remember being in my flat thinking, ‘I think I’m going to kill myself I can’t cope.’”
Gemma likened her mental health struggle to that of ‘Love Island’ presenter Caroline Flack, who died by suicide in 2020 after she was found guilty of assaulting her then-boyfriend, Lewis Burton.
She said: “What happened to Caroline Flack, that could have been me after the jungle. And that really could have been me. I’m pleased I didn’t do anything silly because I would have regretted it.”

Giovanni Pernice’s Strictly future hangs in the balance

OHMYGOSSIP — Giovanni Pernice’s future on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ remains unknown amid a report he has quit the show.
The BBC has insisted they are not yet ready to confirm the lineup of professional dancers returning for the 2024 series just yet in response to the claims.
In a statement issued to various outlets, a spokesperson said: “The professional dancers for 2024 will be announced in due course.”
The 33-year-old choreographer has been mired in controversy since his partner for the 2023 series, Amanda Abbington, left the show, and Faye Tozer – Giovanni’s partner from the 2018 season – reportedly revealed his training is too “intense”, leading to the network wanting to discuss his future on the show.
A friend of the Italian star told The Sun: “Gio feels the scrutiny on him has become too much, and now is the time to make a fresh start.
“He wants to focus on other TV projects, and feels he’s achieved all he can on Strictly, having won the trophy back in 2021 and reaching the final an unprecedented four times.”
They added: “He remains adamant he’s done nothing wrong other than being a hard taskmaster but knows his style of training isn’t to everyone’s liking — especially in this day and age. He has a lot of other exciting projects in the pipeline right now, and he’s just super-excited to get cracking on them. This, now, is his priority.”
Reflecting on the situation with Amanda, Giovanni previously admitted it was “a shame” his partner chose to leave the competition.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror’s ‘Invite Only’ podcast, he said: “It’s a shame because, in my opinion, she could have gone all the way.”
Despite facing criticism for the way he allegedly treats his partners, the professional performer emphasised he wants to do his best for the contestants.
He explained: “I am a perfectionist, 100 per cent, but it comes from a perspective of caring. I think all of the professional dancers are in the same place.
“In every single part of the world, if you’re a professional dancer on one of these shows, you have to get these people looking the best they can on Saturday night.
“And if we have good scores at the end, I do look back and say, ‘I’ve done a great job’. But we all care about our partners, and we want that for them every single week – to look great on a Saturday.
“There’s no specific way that you are, or have to be with your celebrity. You make the most of their strengths so the only thing that’s constant is the fact that you have to do a show on Saturday night.”

Oscar Isaac lends voice to Jesus Christ in The King of Kings

OHMYGOSSIP — Oscar Isaac will voice Jesus Christ in ‘The King of Kings’.
The 45-year-old actor has joined the cast of the film that is inspired by the lives of both Jesus and Charles Dickens.
Oscar joins an ensemble that includes Sir Kenneth Branagh as the celebrated author as well as Uma Thurman as the ‘Great Expectations’ scribe’s wife Catherine while ‘Jojo Rabbit’ star Roman Griffin Davis voices their youngest son Walter.
Meanwhile, Forest Whitaker is also set to feature as the apostle Peter.
The movie is inspired by the Dickens short story ‘The Life of Our Lord’, which was published in 1934, more than six decades after the author’s death.
It tells the story of Dickens and Walter as they – along with their cat Willa – become immersed in the story of Jesus.
The picture is being made by the South Korean animation house Mofac Animation and is directed by Seong-ho Jang with Anfernee Kim producing.
Jang has also written the script together with Rob Edwards.
Kim said: “A film capturing the epic life of Jesus Christ warrants a stellar cast, and our actors announced to date – Oscar Isaac, Forest Whitaker, Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman and Roman Griffin Davis – is impressive by any measure.
“Oscar perfectly captures the impactful delivery of Jesus, and Forest expertly embodies the complicated aspects of Peter.”
Branagh’s casting as Dickens was first revealed last month and Kim said that the ‘Tenet’ actor – alongside Thurman and Griffin Davis – were the perfect performers for the important roles.
He said: “It is through the Dickens family that our audience experiences the life of Jesus Christ, and Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman and Roman Griffin Davis bring all the emotion, awe, heart and gravitas to these essential characters.
“These three actors are at the core of our story, and anchor a truly impressive cast – many of whom we look forward to sharing in the near future.”

Vanessa Redgrave and Andrea Riseborough cast in The Nest

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Redgrave and Andrea Riseborough are to star in ‘The Nest’.
The actresses have boarded the cast of the film from director Paul Andrew Williams that is going on sale at the Cannes market.
The picture tells the story of two neighbours who form an unlikely friendship to the disapproval of others around them.
After witnessing the lack of care that her elderly neighbour Elsie (Redgrave) gets from supposed professionals, Colleen (Riseborough) takes it upon herself to look after her.
However, Colleen’s intentions may not be as they seem.
Filming will begin this summer in Yorkshire with Dominic Tighe and Marie-Elena Dyche producing for Giant Productions and Meraki Films respectively.
Williams is coming off the back of his well-received film ‘Bull’ and has also worked on projects including ‘London to Brighton’ and ‘Murdered By My Boyfriend’.
The director said: “The chance to bring this project to the screen with such amazing, talented actors in Vanessa and Andrea is a complete privilege. Being able to do this with the team behind ‘Bull’ again is brilliant and I only hope I can do it justice.”
Tighe and Dyche added: “We are so excited to be working once again with Paul who brings such a distinct and visceral style to all his work, which will be further elevated by this wonderful cast.
“This film touches on the thorny subject of care in the UK but as ever he subverts genre and has created an incredibly tense environment from out of the ordinary while also having something to say about the world we live in.
“This is vital, exciting cinema that we are proud to be a part of.”

EastEnders star Shona McGarty ‘in talks’ for Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Shona McGarty is reportedly in talks to join ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 32-year-old actress – who is best known for playing Whitney Dean in ‘EastEnders’ – was previously approached by the BBC to appear on the dancing programme, but ultimately turned it down because she was anxious to perform during the live shows.
Now, Shona is apparently looking to join the TV contest later this year.
An industry insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Shona would be a great fit for the show. She’s a real favourite with soap fans, as well as being incredibly bubbly and good fun.
“She is also a big fan of ‘Strictly’ but when she was approached for it the first time, she was really worried it might be too much for her.
“A few years on, she is a lot more confident, and the timing is better, because she won’t have to juggle the show with her commitments to ‘EastEnders’.”
Shona previously admitted her “anxiety got the better of [her]”, and so rejected the chance to appear on the programme, but insisted she had “always wanted” to give it a go.
Speaking with Best magazine in 2021, she said: “I’ve always wanted to do [‘Strictly’].
“I was asked a few years ago to go on the show. But my anxiety got the better of me and I thought I would be too nervous to do a live show.
“But now might be a good time for me to conquer my anxiety – just go for it and deal with it when I get there! I love dancing, I love the costumes, and it’s such an iconic show.”
Shona left ‘EastEnders’ in April, after spending 16 years on the soap, something the actress admitted was a “really difficult decision” to make.
She told The Sun newspaper: “It was a really difficult decision, because it’s all I’ve ever known. I pretty much grew up on the Square, so I feel like I’m leaving home.
“But I had to put on my big girl pants and be quite brave, because life is so short, and you feel that more and more as you get older.
“There are other opportunities and areas of the industry I want to explore before I get too old! All things come to an end and this is the new chapter of my life.”

Kate Garraway says Giovanni Pernice will be ‘deeply missed’ after shock Strictly departure

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway thinks Giovanni Pernice will be “deeply missed” if he leaves ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 33-year-old professional performer was rumoured to have exited the BBC show due to his feud with previous dance partners like Amanda Abbingdon, 52 – who branded him a bully for his intense training methods during her time on the programme – and the ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter, 57, has now paid tribute to the “great” Giovanni.
Speaking to her co-host Rob Rinder on the ITV show, she said: “He was great on the show and people love him.”
Kate had appeared on the BBC show in 2007 where she was partnered up with Giovannni’s close friend Anton du Beke.
The broadcaster added she had “loved” watching their TV outings together, such as their new BBC travel programme ‘Anton and Giovanni’s Adventures in Spain’.
She added: “Giovanni and Anton are great friends and I’ve loved watching those shows as well.”
Last night (16.05.24), it was revealed Giovanni’s future on ‘Strictly’ was uncertain after the dancer became jaded with the “scrutiny” he had faced for the allegations made against him, and wanted to turn his attention to other shows instead.
A friend of the performers told The Sun: “Gio feels the scrutiny on him has become too much, and now is the time to make a fresh start.
“He wants to focus on other TV projects, and feels he’s achieved all he can on Strictly, having won the trophy back in 2021 and reaching the final an unprecedented four times.”

He has a lot of other exciting projects in the pipeline right now, and he’s just super-excited to get cracking on them. This, now, is his priority.”
The BBC have since released a statement in which their neither confirmed nor denied Giovanni’s exit from the show.
In the statement, a spokesperson for the company said: “The professional dancers for 2024 will be announced in due course.”

Will Smith teases ‘really solid ideas’ for I Am Legend sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan have “really solid ideas” for the sequel to ‘I Am Legend’.
The pair are working on a follow-up to the 2007 post-apocalyptic movie and Will explained that the plans are “looking good” and they are hoping to get it to the big screen.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Will said: “We had a couple weeks together about a month ago. I think it’s looking good.
“(We have some) really solid ideas… I think we’re going to make it on screen together. That dude is the truth, so I would love to do that.”
The original film starred Smith as scientist Dr. Robert Neville – the last living human in New York City after a devastating virus wipes out much of the population – but the character encounters other survivors at the end of the flick, leaving the door open for a sequel.
However, Will knows that a sequel has to “stand on its own right” – just as his new movie ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ does.
Discussing the fourth film in the buddy cop franchise, the ‘Men in Black’ star said: “I told myself (what) I would never do to the fans is make a sequel just because it would be cool to have a sequel. This one lives up to my standards.
“We took an aggressive shot with this movie. We tried to keep it exciting – we wanted it to be a full-on popcorn movie but we wanted it to grow with the characters.”
Smith and Martin Lawrence reprise their roles as Miami detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett respectively but the former explained that supporting cast members – including Vanessa Hudgens and Alexander Ludwig – also have key roles in the film.
The 55-year-old star explained: “There are multiple scenes where you will cheer for multiple characters.
“It’s Mike and Marcus, just like you love them, but we’ve expanded and there’s more room for more cast and it’s open and, you know, people are smashing.”

Rob Rinder addresses rumours he and Rylan Clark are dating: ‘He’s pregnant with my child…’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Rinder has the “best sort” of love with Rylan Clark.
The 45-year-old barrister-turned-presenter has been at the centre of rumours that he and his ‘Grand Tour’ co-star Rylan, 35, have struck up a relationship after he tweeted amid their appearance at the BAFTAs on Sunday (12.05.24) that friendship “often does, grow into love” but has now insisted that things are “platonic” between them.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Friday (17.05.24) after being grilled by co-host Kate Garraway, he said: “It’s like you and me, it’s platonic love. The best sort!
“We did get naked together and have a painting of ourselves in Italy [for our TV show]. I did go on Twitter and announce our engagement – as a joke! We have the best sort of marriage, we row with each other and we don’t have sex. I can categorically say that we are not dating…but he is pregnant with my child.”
His comments come just one day after he and former ‘X Factor’ contestant Rylan revealed that while they were filming their travel show for BBC, they were started off in in separate accommodations but shared a room by the end.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, he explained: “In Venice, we were in separate accommodations.
“In Florence we were in the same accommodation but in different rooms and by Rome, I’m waking up with him underneath me, and I was like, ‘Get off of me, Barrister!”‘
But Rylan – who was was initially married to Dan Neal from 2015 until 2021 whilst Rob split from Seth Cumming in 2018 after six years in a civil partnership – also took to social media to insist that there was no romance between himself and his co-star and that he is just a “close” friend.
He wrote on X: “To the journalist that just doorstepped my mum at her house, as polite as you were, please don’t. She said you was a lovely man but she’s 71 years old and it makes me feel slightly uncomfortable.
“The answer is no. I’m not dating Rob Rinder, he’s one of my closest friends. Next time, tweet me.”

In a now-deleted post to the site, she wrote: “I’ve not felt a lot of joy from this social platform in a long time, so to come on and see I’m trending, yet again, is exhausting.
“I could say comedy is subjective but the truth is the comments are hurtful.
“I used to love Twitter but I don’t care for this centre of hate. Goodbye.”
The ‘Out of Order’ presenter revealed she had been forced to develop a thick skin due to the trolling she has had to ensure.
She told The Guardian newspaper, she said: “I’d be lying if I said it didn’t upset me, but luckily I am surrounded by such a strong network of brilliant friends, family, colleagues who support me.
“Do I need a thick skin? Yes, I bloody do. But I’m able to switch it off, I don’t look at social media when I’m on TV.”
The ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’ panelist added she wanted to “focus on the positives” of being a beacon of inspiration for other disabled people.
She said: “I focus on the positives – on the people coming up to me saying ‘I’ve never seen disability portrayed like you do,’ or if they are disabled, coming up to me and saying, ‘Thank you for making us feel seen and worthy and valid.’”
Rosie added she sometimes found working on TV to be challenging, and admitted if her condition was “slightly more severe”, it could prove to be even more of a hurdle for her.
She explained: “If I had a different disability, or my cerebral palsy was slightly more severe, that would create more problems.”

Josh Brolin was persuaded to join Weapons cast by ‘brilliant’ script

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Brolin was convinced to join the cast of ‘Weapons’ by the “brilliant” script from Zach Cregger.
The 56-year-old actor will appear in the horror thriller alongside Julia Garner and Alden Ehrenreich and explained that he was very impressed when he met the filmmaker after initially “struggling” to join the project at first.
Josh told Collider: “I really liked his first movie, but it’s still new for him and all that. Then I met him a couple of times and we talked through what he was thinking.
“It’s a really good script, first of all. He’s put together a really good cast, especially now – Julia Garner, who I love, and Alden, who’s great, who I did ‘Hail, Caesar!’ with. There’s a lot of really good people involved.”
The ‘Dune: Part Two’ star continued: “This was one of the few times when I finally went, ‘Okay, let’s do this’ – and I think I was avoiding work anyway, just generally – when I said, ‘Yes, let’s do this,’ my choice just felt better and better and better and better with each following day.
“I’m super excited about doing this. We are doing it in May, June, July, and I just talked with him yesterday. I’m serious when I say I think it’s a brilliant design of a script. Brilliant.”

The film is set to begin shooting in Atlanta this month.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt thought of late brother ‘every day’ while filming with Eddie Murphy

OHMYGOSSIP — Joseph Gordon-Levitt thought about his late brother “every day” while filming ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’.
The 43-year-old actor – who plays LAPD officer Bobby Abbott in the upcoming movie – had always admired his co-star Eddie Murphy, but it was his sibling Dan, who died from an apparent overdose in 2010, that was a massive fan of the star.
He told Empire magazine: “He sadly died 14 years ago but when I was growing up, my older brother was a huge Eddie Murphy fan. ‘SNL’, ‘Beverly Hills Cop’, ‘I’m Gumby, dammit!’
“So I have a really warm place in my heart for Eddie as a performer.
“I thought about Dan every day [during the shoot]. All the time. And I talked to Eddie about that.”
Joseph and Eddie quickly hit it off thanks to their shared passion for music.
Joseph explained: “The first time we really started improvising together was in a car.
“And shooting car scenes, you can’t get out for big chunks of time.
“On that first day, waiting for the rig to reposition, we started talking about the song ‘Let the Good Times Roll’.
“The original version, the Harry Nilsson cover, and then other songs with that phrase in, by Sam Cooke and Jimi Hendrix…
“Eddie’s kind of a nerd about those things, as am I.”
While Joseph’s character in the film is “a bit straight-laced”, he insisted he still got to have a lot of fun.
He said: “This character is a bit strait-laced – I am an actual Beverly Hills cop, whereas Axel Foley is a cop from Detroit who finds himself in Beverly Hills – but he’s not a simple straight man.
“I also get my licks in. I wouldn’t be living up to this crazy opportunity if I wasn’t going to have a few myself.
“We got to do some really fun stuff.”

Bowen Yang’s ‘mentally fraying’ Wicked juggle

OHMYGOSSIP — Bowen Yang says juggling filming on ‘Wicked’ and ‘Saturday Night Live’ was “mentally fraying”.
The 33-year-old ‘SNL’ star spent months travelling between New York for the comedy sketch show and the UK for Jon M. Chu’s upcoming movie musical in which he plays Pfannee and Bowen admitted even ‘SNL’ creator Lorne Michaels started to worry about him.
He told Vanity Fair: “This is when Lorne Michaels comes in. Whatever you think about the situation, however you think it’s unique to you, however you think you might be the exception to the rule, Lorne is here to be like, ‘Actually, it might not be so good on the body for you to fly back and forth between New York and London to go shoot a movie.’
“I’ll say ‘Wicked,’ for example. [It] was an incredible experience and I wouldn’t trade it for anything, but I really thought I could hack it. “I was like, OK, I’ve got my nootropic gels that I’m going to suck on the airplane, and I’m going to take my little CBD potions that are going to help me fall asleep and get over the jet lag. I had all these things in the armory, and then none of it really could beat back that tide.
“It really did get to me just on a somatic level — I was just like, Wow, my body is refusing to lift an arm, or whatever. It really got to that point that was a little mentally fraying. It was a tough summer, just between the strikes and the constant bouncing back and forth.”
However, he wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.
He previously told PEOPLE: “I was like, ‘I can’t believe I’m, one, in Oz. Two, standing next to Ariana Grande and Michelle Yeoh, who are sharing a scene together. Three, in this film version of this musical that I love so much.’ All of it was just these different braids of surreal elements coming together as one.”
