Nick Carter sexual assault allegations probed in new documentary

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Fallen Idols’ documentary is delving into the scandals and accusations swirling around Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter.
Along with exploring a series of sexual assault allegations against the singer, the show also details the family tragedies that have plagued the Carter family for decades.
The Investigation Discovery docuseries introduces three women who claim they were sexually assaulted by Nick.
Melissa Schuman – singer and former member of the girl group Dream – Ashley Repp, a former friend of Nick’s sister Angel, and Shannon ‘Shay’ Ruth, who filed a sexual assault lawsuit against him in December 2022, all speak out on the series.
A title card in the four-part documentary, which started on Monday (27.05.24) and continues on Tuesday, states Nick “denied the allegations and questions his accusers’ credibility,” as well as refused to be interviewed for the show.
The tragedies to hit the Carter family – which consists of parents Robert and Jane and children Nick, Leslie, Angel, Bobbie Jean and Aaron – include Leslie dying aged 25 from a drug overdose in 2012.
In 2022, Aaron drowned at the age of 34 under the effects of alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax, and from inhaling difluoroethane – while Bobbie Jean was killed by a drug overdose at 41 in 2023.
Melissa Schuman recounted in the series her alleged rape by Nick in 2003, while they were filming the TV movie ‘The Hollow’.
She said: “He continues to kiss me and then he puts me up on the counter. I can feel him unbuttoning my pants and I stop him and tell him, ‘I don’t want to go any further.’
“But he did not listen to me, despite the fact that I resisted and told him no. He started to perform oral sex on me, which was horrific.”
Melissa said he “started to get really angry and irritated” during the alleged incident and said he continued to assault her despite her repeated objections.
Other revelations in the series include how Nick Carter’s former girlfriend, ex-Pussycat Dolls member Kaya Jones, 39, who dated him in the 2000s, reached out to Melissa after she spoke out.
She said: “I saw a young woman try to speak and someone who thought he had more power and authority try to shut her up.
“He knows what I know. He knows why I left him. So do I believe that something horrific happened to that girl? Yes, yes I do.”
Aaron Carter also supported the women who accused his brother, leading to an intense feud between the siblings.
He believed his family was involved in cyber attacks against him, and hired a private investigator to probe the harassment.
The series also highlights Aaron’s troubled relationship with his parents, Robert and Jane, depicted as manipulative and negligent, contributing to the siblings’ strained relationships and personal struggles.

Mathew Horne ‘is loving the challenge of fatherhood’

OHMYGOSSIP — Mathew Horne “is a brilliant dad” and he’s loving the challenge of fatherhood.
The 45-year-old actor and his wife Celina Bassili were spotted in London with their child over the weekend, but the couple have always made a concerted effort to keep their personal life out of the spotlight.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Mathew is a brilliant dad and he and Celina love being parents.
“Celina’s brother has a son who is a similar age and they love spending time together.
“Mathew also kept the news quiet because he prefers to live his life out of the spotlight, even though he’s a household name thanks to ‘Gavin and Stacey’.”
Despite this, Mathew’s co-stars are all aware that he’s now a dad.
The insider continued: “All his ‘Gavin and Stacey’ co-stars know about him being a dad, including James Corden and Joanna Page. They all have kids so you can imagine the talk on set for the Christmas special is going to centre a lot on their kids.”
Matthew will star in the ‘Gavin and Stacey’ special later this year, and a source recently claimed that he could be joined on set by Sheridan Smith.
The 42-year-old actress could reprise the role of Ruth ‘Rudi’ Smith for the last-ever episode of the BBC comedy show.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “The script for ‘Gavin and Stacey: The Finale’ includes all of the show’s major players – including Smithy’s sister Rudi. Nothing has been signed and conversations are still very much ongoing – especially as the filming date has not been set.
“But all of the stops are being pulled out to make sure the whole cast are there, and in the coming weeks the production team hope to pin down everyone’s availability.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Flanagan believes “mum guilt never goes”.
The 33-year-old actress – who has Charlie, six, and Matilda, eight, with her ex-partner Scott Sinclair – has taken to social media to reveal that she continues to suffer from mum guilt.
Helen – who was in a relationship with Scott for 13 years – wrote on Instagram: “Not seen my babies for 11 days as they were in Dubai with their daddy x I feel such a horrible mummy for not seeing them and guilty but I think it’s important for them to have a nice time with their daddy.
“I suppose mum guilt never goes no matter what you do x They went on holiday with their lovely nanna too which helps me as I get lots of pictures of them looking really happy x (sic)”
Meanwhile, Helen recently revealed that she feared she’d ruined her career after suffering a “very scary” psychotic episode.
The soap star struggled to feel “normal” in the wake of her 2022 split from Scott, and then suffered an “awful reaction” to her ADHD medication, which left her at rock bottom.
Helen told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “I don’t see it as a break-up, I see it as a divorce. We were together 13 years. But instead of processing it all, I threw myself into work and shut off my emotions. I just went into survival mode. Then it all came to the surface earlier this year and I was mentally and physically breaking down.”
Of her psychotic episode, she added: “It was really sad and very scary. I was seeing things and I felt like I was in danger all the time.”

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford ‘are having difficult conversations over their dog’

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are having “difficult conversations” over who gets their beloved dog Maggie.
The 64-year-old TV presenter and Ruth recently announced their break-up, but the duo are still to decide who will keep their pet pooch.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Maggie is like a daughter to them. They dote on her. But she’s getting on and they know she needs stability.
“It’s a case of who can give her that.”
Eamonn and Ruth, 64, are both very fond of their dog, and Eamonn – who underwent spinal surgery in 2022 – would feel heartbroken if he’s forced to give her up because of his health issues.
The insider continued: “The thought of giving her up is heartbreaking to him. But if Ruth is able to get out and about and walk her more, then it may well be that she gets Maggie in the split.”
Meanwhile, Eamonn addressed their break-up during his latest appearance on GB News.
The veteran presenter thanked viewers for their support amid his split from Ruth.
Eamonn – who has been married to Ruth since 2010 – said: “Just before we move on, we’d just like to thank people for your support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation.
“Your support for both of us is very much appreciated.”
Prior to that, an insider revealed that Eamonn was determined to address the issue on air.
The source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Eamonn is always frank on camera and knows it will be odd for him to discuss the day’s news without mentioning his split so he’ll say a few words.
“He is putting on a brave face and will be the true professional he always is. Focusing on work will be a welcome distraction.”

Corrie star Alex Bain on the ’emotional’ exit of Simon Barlow

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Barlow actor Alex Bain will “miss” his character.
The 22-year-old star has portrayed the troubled lad on the long-running ITV soap ‘Coronation Street’ for 16 years, and whilst he’s going to miss being on the Cobbles, he’s glad Simon has a “happy ending”.
Simon is joining his father, Peter Barlow – who was played by Chris Gascoyne – on his boat after battling a drinking problem.
Asked if he’s going to miss his alter ego in an interview released by ITV, he said: “Yes, I am, because we have spent so much time together over the past 16 years. We are like two sides of the same coin, in a way. I am so pleased that he has a happy ending, that he is literally sailing off into the sunset with his dad and there is hope for his future.
“I don’t have to grieve for him as he hasn’t been killed off. He hasn’t gone to prison. I can just imagine him having a great time with his dad, the two of them drinking orange juice on the boat in the middle of nowhere. I imagine their relationship is the best it has ever been.”
Alex admits it was “incredibly emotional” filming his final scene and shared how his parents got to be part of the moment.
He said: “It was incredibly emotional, which is understandable as it has been a huge part of my life. We filmed out of order, so my last scene that I filmed wasn’t Simon’s last scene in the show, but he was in Roy’s Rolls saying goodbye to Carla.
“My parents Debra and Paul had come in to watch the scene, and the director kindly suggested that they could be background artists in the café. So there I was discussing Simon’s mum and dad with Carla whilst my own mum and dad were sitting at a table behind me having a coffee, how surreal!
“It was so special for them and me. My mum was my chaperone when I first started, and both of them have been so supportive of me throughout my time on Corrie, so it was a real moment for us all that they are in one of my final scenes.”

The 47-year-old actor has been added to the star-studded cast of the Rian Johnson-directed movie, which is expected to go into production soon.
Andrew will appear alongside the likes of Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny in the upcoming movie, according to Variety.
Daniel Craig will reprise his role as Benoit Blanc, the main protagonist in the money-spinning film franchise, while Rian is writing and directing the third movie.
The upcoming film has been given an official title of ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’, and although plot details remain a closely-guarded secret, Rian recently teased the movie on social media.
The 50-year-old filmmaker wrote on X: “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.
“We’re about to go into production on the 3rd one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going. (sic)”
Meanwhile, Netflix has also teased details about the third movie in the ‘Knives Out’ franchise.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Outnumbered’ is returning for a 2024 Christmas special – for the first time in eight years.
The BBC One comedy will be back on screens for the first time since the programme returned for a festive special in 2016, two years after the show had come to an end after five series and three previous specials.
In the forthcoming festive episode, Hugh Dennis will reprise his role as dad Pete and Claire Skinner will be back as mum Sue.
The 40-minute special will follow the chaos in the downsized home of the Brockmans, as they grapple with the challenges of parenting kids who are now adults, with their own lives to lead.
Tyger Drew-Honey is to return as eldest son Jake, while Daniel Roche and Ramona Marquez will be back as the middle child Ben, and daughter Karen respectively.
Hugh said: “I can’t wait for the Brockmans to be back together again.
“Pete and Sue have downsized, the children are no longer children, but I’m sure family life will prove to be just as chaotic as ever.”
Claire added: “I’m really looking forward to being reunited with my TV family.
“Working on this wonderful BBC comedy doesn’t feel like work and is one of the greatest joys for us all.”
In the episode, Sue and Pete will gather all their offspring – including one grandchild – together in an attempt to celebrate a traditional family Christmas.
However, fate, neighbours, hyenas and bus replacement services get in their way.
Jon Petrie, Director of BBC Comedy, said: “‘Outnumbered’ is one of the crown jewels of British sitcoms.
“We’re so grateful to Guy, Andy, Hattrick, and the cast for dusting it off and putting it back on display.”
The show’s creators, Guy Jenkin and Andy Hamilton, have written and directed the special episode, which will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
Andy said: “It’s a very exciting prospect to be revisiting the Brockman family – older, but not necessarily wiser – as they steer a path through the perils of Christmas and the rapids of modern-day family life.”
Guy added: “I really wanted to find out what the Brockmans were up to these days, so Andy and I had to write this special.”

Celebrity Big Brother’s Sharon Osbourne terrified of finding spiders in home

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star Sharon Osbourne is terrified of finding spiders in her home since moving back to England.
The former ‘X Factor’ judge and her husband, Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne – who have been married since 1982 – recently moved back to the UK from Los Angeles, but Sharon, who was born in London, has come across an eight-legged issue since her return home, which she is treating with peppermint oil.
She said on ‘The Osbournes Podcast’: “Do you know what I do when I go home to England? I don’t know why, but I get it more in England than here [America]. Spiders in the bedroom.
“I put peppermint oil all the way around the bed.”
Sharon’s son Jack Osbourne, 38, said: “The spiders in England are f***ing terrifying.”
Former ‘X Factor’ judge Sharon fears her arms will go black if she is bitten by one of England’s deadly air-breathing arthropods.
She said: “Right, that’s why I do it. There’s poisonous spiders that make your arms and everything go black.”
Ozzy added: “There are killer, f***ing spiders.”
While Sharon has a spider issue in her own house, she didn’t have such problems during her recent ‘CBB’ stint.
In March, she appeared in the 23rd series of the reality TV show as the programme’s first-ever “celebrity lodger”.
That meant she was in the house for just nine days before departing.
She even had her own en-suite bedroom away from the other housemates, where she and her fellow housemate and former ‘X Factor’ colleague Louis Walsh regularly gave their opinions on showbiz stars.

‘He couldn’t have done without me!’ Michael Palin hits back at John Cleese after ‘boring’ swipe

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Palin has insisted John Cleese “couldn’t have done without” him in Monty Python, as he hit back at being branded “slightly boring” by his co-star.
The 81-year-old actor and comedian has insisted he “really enjoys” portraying “boring characters” in productions, and believes the comedy troupe – which was made up of Michael, John, Graham Chapman, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, and Terry Jones – wouldn’t have worked as well without him.
When asked what he made of the ‘Fawlty Towers’ star recently describing him as “slightly boring”, Michael said on ‘This Morning’: “John is scintillating. We all know that. It’s in his passport.
“I really enjoy playing boring characters, and I’ve done a few, including the most boring man in Yorkshire, Eric Olthwaite [in comedy series ‘Ripping Yarns’].
“But you know, you just talk about rainfall all the time, and shovels. And putting a shovel next to the other one.
“It really irritates people who think they’re interesting.
“You go back to Python, and I always played the boring character, but John couldn’t have done without me.
“You had to have someone selling the parrot, or someone in the argument sketch to play off.
“So I think I’m going to continue to bask in John’s compliment that I’m boring. The more boring I can be the better.”
Michael’s comments come after John’s light-hearted swipe at his pal, which occurred after he and Gilliam had reunited for Michael’s 81st birthday earlier this month.
When asked about the occasion on Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, John said: “It was lovely.
“When we get together we just laugh a lot and we’re very, very silly, which I think is lovely, when you see three 80-year-old men just being thoroughly silly and reprehensible.
“And people love it, of course, because they think, ‘It doesn’t matter because they haven’t got long [left].’ ”
Asked how Michael is, John replied: “Michael is just the same, sweet, kind, slightly boring man.
“And Gilliam, of course, is completely mad, but he thinks I’m mad so it doesn’t matter.
“It just completely cancels out and we just had an absolutely lovely time.
“We often go to the same restaurant which is an Austrian restaurant. There wasn’t much to talk about really, just to be silly.”

Jill Scott still pinches herself that A League of Their Own is her actual job

OHMYGOSSIP — Jill Scott still “has to pinch herself” that ‘A League of Their Own’ is actually her job.
The 37-year-old retired footballer – who called time on her career in 2022 – went onto win ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ before moving further into the TV world last year as she joined the Sky panel show alongside Micah Richards and Jamie Redknapp.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I have to pinch myself that this is even work.”
The former Lioness – who was part of the legendary team that woon the European Champions two years ago – admitted more people talk to her about becoming Queen of the Jungle than they do about her exploits on the pitch.
She said: “People go, ‘I recognise you!’ I say, ‘It might be because the women won the Euros’.
“They say, ‘No, no, it’s definitely the jungle when you were eating goat testicles!’ I love people, I love conversation so I don’t mind.”
Jill has loved working with ‘A League of Their Own’ co-stars Jamie and Micah for a new series, and she can’t believe the people she gets to share the screen with.
She added: “Some of the people I’ve worked with – Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, Micah Richards – I have to pinch myself because they were my heroes growing up.
“If it all ends tomorrow I’d just be so grateful at what I’ve gotten to do. Hopefully it won’t!”
Meanwhile, Jill previously described ‘I’m A Celebrity’ as the “icing on the cake” after winning the Euros earlier the same year.
She told HELLO! magazine: “The Euros was something I worked my a*** off for every single day of my 16 years of playing for England.
“It was the best moment of my life, getting that gold medal and now, to know I’ve retired with women’s football in such a better place, if you’ve contributed even one percent, then that fills my heart with joy.
“Nothing can beat the Euros win, but I guess the jungle has been the icing on the cake.”

Gary Oldman laments ‘secrecy’ for hindering his Harry Potter performance

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Oldman thinks the “secrecy” involved in the ‘Harry Potter’ film franchise impacted his performance as Sirius Black.
The Oscar-winning star branded his acting in the wizardry series as “mediocre” last year but has now clarified the comments by suggesting that he was not completely aware of his character’s development and did not intend to “disparage” the franchise.
Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, Gary said: “There was such secrecy that was shrouded around the novels, they were under lock and key. And had I known from the very beginning, if I had read the five books and I had seen the arc of the character, I might have approached it differently. I may have looked at it differently and painted in a different colour.”
The 66-year-old actor continued: “So when I started ‘Harry Potter’, all I had was the book ‘The Prisoner of Azkaban’, and that one representation of that man – one book in the library of Sirius Black.
“And that’s kind of what I meant by it. It’s not me looking at the movie and saying it’s a terrible film or I’m terrible, I just wish it had been under different circumstances. That’s what I meant, not to be rude to any of the people out there who like that film.”
Gary explained that his comments show he is constantly “hypercritical” of his acting work and claimed that he would be “sad” if he felt he had played a part to perfection.
The ‘Slow Horses’ star said: “What I meant by that is, as any artist or any actor or painter, you are always hypercritical of your own work.
“If you’re not, and you’re satisfied with what you’re doing, that would be death to me. If I watched a performance of myself and thought, ‘My God, I’m fantastic in this’, that would be a sad day.”

Isla Fisher playing divorced mother in new Bridget Jones movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Isla Fisher is to play a divorcee in ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy’.
The 48-year-old star is due to begin filming for the new picture this week and sources say that she will play friends of Renee Zellweger’s Bridget.
The part has parallels with Isla’s situation in real life as it was announced last month that she had split with her husband Sacha Baron Cohen in 2023 after 13 years of marriage.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Isla’s real life is inspiring her new role in the ‘Bridget Jones’ film. She plays a single mother who befriended Bridget at the school gates.
“Isla loves ‘Bridget Jones’ and is thrilled that she landed the part. Her own experience will help her in the role and it’s great she’s landed such a big part after a really tough time.
“Isla will start filming this week with Renee and other cast members.”
It was previously revealed that Zellweger will be sharing a kiss with co-star Leo Woodall – who is 28 years her junior – in the upcoming picture which marks the fourth installment of the franchise.
The film, which is based on Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel of the same name, will see Bridget adjusting to life as a single mother following the death of her husband Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) and it has been suggested that the character will be a “cougar” in the flick that is being released in February 2025.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Bridget is going to be a real cougar in the new film and she’ll be seen starting a relationship with a much younger character played by Leo.
“He was thrilled about landing the part and will have a major role as her love interest in ‘Mad About the Boy’.
“Bridget is a single mum trying to navigate a new world of social media and dating apps after Mark’s death, so she’s definitely going to end up in a pickle.
“Hugh Grant is back as Daniel Cleaver, so there will be a love triangle between Bridget’s older flame and this much younger new man.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Whoopi Goldberg has promised ‘Sister Act 3’ is coming “soon”.
The 68-year-old actress – who plays Deloris Van Cartier in the film franchise – is “excited” about the long-awaited movie and though she didn’t share any details about the plot, she has reassured fans that they won’t need to wait too much longer to see the film.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I can say it’s coming. It’s coming around the mountain when it comes. It’ll be here soon. I’m excited. It’s time for it, you know, it’s time.”
After years of delays, Whoopi thinks now is the right time for the movie.
She explained: “Because we need to laugh, you know?
“I don’t know what we’re going into, but whatever it is, I’m gonna need to chuckle a lot…I think I’m good when I make other people laugh, too.”
Earlier this month, the ‘View’ presenter – who is also producing the movie along with Tyler Perry – revealed she had offered Pope Francis a cameo in the film because he seemed to be “a bit of a fan”.
She told Jimmy Fallon on ‘The Tonight Show’: “I offered one. He said he’d see what his time was like.”
In October 2022, Whoopi admitted she would love Nicki Minaj, Lizzo, and Keke Palmer to be cast in ‘Sister Act 3’.
Speaking to host Charlamagne Tha God on Comedy Central’s ‘Hell of A Week’, she said: “I want everybody. I want as many people who want to have some fun, because I really, desperately need to have some fun.”
Jenifer Lewis, who starred as Michelle in the 1992 original ‘Sister Act’ film, previously revealed she encouraged Whoopi to use her own singing voice in the movie.
She said on ‘The View’: “They were going to use my voice and I told Whoopi, ‘Look, you just get in this mirror with the two of us, and you just get a hairbrush and pretend that we’re 15 years old singing Gladys Knight and the Pips.’ and Whoopi did it, she sang her little booty off.”
The original motion picture saw Goldberg’s character, lounge singer Van Cartier, forced to join a convent after being placed in a witness protection programme.
