James Argent thinks it is ‘hilarious’ that best friend Joey Essex has ended up on Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — James Argent thinks it is “hilarious” that Joey Essex has gone on ‘Love Island’.
The 36-year-old reality star thought his fellow ‘TOWIE’ castmate and best friend, 33, would have exhausted himself with appearances on shows like ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’, ‘Celebs Go Dating’, and ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ over the years but had no idea he was about to enter the Mallorca villa on the ITV2 dating show as a bombshell arrival.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: “I’m really, really…I find it all hilarious. Just when you think there’s no many reality shows left for Joey Essex and he goes to ‘Love Island’.
“He’s committed to this show, and you’ve gotta go for it, ain’t ya?
“I was speaking to Joey right before he went in and I could tell he wasn’t really himself. He’d taken a bit of a step away from himself and I think he was maybe focusing on getting himself in shape and getting organised.
“But it wasn’t until the second he came out as the bombshell that literally I was like…I didn’t know…and then I got a message from him via his manager that said ‘Arg, I’m so sorry if I haven’t been myself, blah, blah, blah.’ Yep. Understood!”
James also insisted that his friend has entered the villa in search for love and doesn’t see an issue with it given he he has already taken part in a spate of other reality dating shows.
He said: “Well, why not? He’s done a lot of other reality dating shows so he might as well give it a go on this one. He is looking for love, that’s the truth. The truth of the matter is, he is looking for love.”
Joey – who entered the programme at the end of Monday (03.06.24) night’s episode – told The Sun about how series bosses launched a “military operation” to keep his arrival in the series secret: “I feel like Joey Bond, ‘the names Essex, Joey Essex. It felt like a military operation, not even the journey itself but the process of even getting through the application process and to this point.
“I got on the plane to Ibiza, I made sure I still wore my mask when I went out for dinner, and then we got the boat over to Majorca to a villa hidden in the mountains in the middle of nowhere.
“I’m extremely single right now, so I’m praying that I’m going to walk out of the villa hand in hand with the love of my life, that’s my main aim and all I care about.
“It’s difficult for me to meet girls on the outside as they judge me based on a persona so I think this experience will allow for people to see the real me.”

Adria Arjona’s ideas were valued on the set of Hit Man

OHMYGOSSIP — Adria Arjona felt that her contributions to ‘Hit Man’ were valued.
The 32-year-old star features opposite Glen Powell in the romantic action comedy and praised director Richard Linklater for taking her creative input into account.
Speaking to The New York Times newspaper, Adria said: “I’d never worked with Rick, but I’ve always loved how actors in his movies had all this beautiful, philosophical, intellectual, banter that felt improvised. And then I met Rick, and he hates improv.
“Every decision is made in a rehearsal, so once you get to set it makes the process a lot more fun. He really made me believe my ideas were important – that I had good ideas – and a lot of them ended up in the movie.”
Adria was also grateful that her thoughts on the intimate scenes between her character Madison Masters and Powell’s alter ego Gary Johnson were considered by the crew.
The ‘Andor’ star said: “Even the sex scenes – you have no say as a female actor what those scenes are going to entail. But because I was in the writer’s room, I had a lot of say in what we were going to do and how we were going to do it.
“I was impressed that a filmmaker of that calibre would be like, ‘What do you want to do?'”
Adria explained that the flawed nature of her character was particularly appealing.
She said: “I loved that I couldn’t pinpoint what she was going to do next. She’s not perfect, and she’s constantly trying to play this fantasy – a fantasy for herself, a fantasy for him, a fantasy of what a femme fatale is, because she’s definitely not a femme fatale; she’s her own idea of a femme fatale that she’s creating for herself.
“I was fascinated by that. I cannot be more opposite to Madison.”

Shea Whigham put in a request for a scene with Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 8

OHMYGOSSIP — Shea Whigham requested a scene with Tom Cruise in ‘Mission: Impossible 8’.
The 55-year-old actor reprises his role as Jasper Briggs in the eighth movie in the action franchise and explained that he urged director Christopher McQuarrie to include a scene between his character and Cruise’s Ethan Hunt.
Shea told The Hollywood Reporter: “I said to Christopher McQuarrie on (‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’): ‘I don’t want a bigger trailer. I don’t want more money. I don’t want better catering. I just want one scene between Tom and I, where you, McQ, write it like ‘The Usual Suspects’, and we get a chance to get in there.’ And he delivered.”
The ‘Boardwalk Empire’ actor was invited to dinner by Cruise after they had worked on the scene and the Hollywood legend explained that production was far from complete.
Whigham said: “We did this scene between Tom and myself, and then Tom said, ‘We’re going to go out to dinner.’ So we went out to dinner when I was done, and then Tom said, ‘Do you realise that we come out one year from today? And it’s going to be a sprint to finish the f****** thing.’
“What he’s doing now, people are going to be floored. He wants to make this one like an adventure film, and he and McQuarrie have an idea of what they want to do with it. So it’s going to be amazing.”
Hannah Waddingham has been cast in the upcoming action picture – which is due to be released in May 2025 – and praised Cruise for being “gorgeous” to work with.
Speaking to Deadline earlier this year, the ‘Ted Lasso’ star said: “He’s a fabulous person, great to work with.
“It’s hilarious to be fractionally vilified for saying something nice. What have we become if we can’t say something nice? He’s gorgeous, as is Chris McQuarrie, the director.”

Troy Deeney joins Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins

OHMYGOSSIP — Troy Deeney will appear on the next season of ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’.
The ex-Watford footballer, 35, is joining other sports stars like Wayne Bridge, 43, John Fashanu, 61, Jermaine Pennant, 41, and Ashley Cain, 33, on the star-studded edition of the Channel 4 military endurance competition later this year.
A secret source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Footballers’ competitive streak seems to lend itself to taking part. Troy is likely to discuss some of the most upsetting elements of his life in the interrogation room with the instructors.
“Often the celebrities taking part reveal deep-rooted problems that only manifest themselves fully when they’re pushed to the limit in the competition.”
Troy – who this year moved into coaching teams like Forest Green Rovers FC after playing for a num – has previously been honest about his personal demons with issues like alcohol and anger.
He told Talk Sport in 2012: “I genuinely used to love a drink. I lived for the weekends, and if that ended up in a scrap, so be it.
“Now I look back and think, ‘What an idiot’ — but I’d never change my past because it genuinely made me who I am.
“I am still working on being completely teetotal, and the anger issues are a work in progress.”
Ex-contestants have revealed that the series is notoriously tough. For example, Danielle Lloyd recently recounted how she was telling one of the show’s hosts, Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox—who works alongside Matthew ‘Ollie’ Ollerton and Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham—that giving birth to her five kids, Archie, 13, Harry, 12, George, 10, Ronnie, 6, and Autumn, 22 months, was preferable.
The 39-year-old former beauty queen – who was on the edition won by ‘Pop Idol’ victor Gareth Gates – told Yahoo! News: “I actually said to Foxy when we were doing that wire one where we had to drop. I was like, ‘I would rather give birth five more times than do this.’ And he was like, ‘Oh you’re f***ing crazy then!”

Josh Brolin added to Knives Out 3 ensemble

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Brolin has joined the cast of ‘Knives Out 3’.
The 56-year-old star has boarded a starry ensemble that includes Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis and Daryl McCormack.
Rian Johnson is once again writing and directing while Daniel Craig is reprising his role as detective Benoit Blanc in the murder mystery flick that is titled ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’.
Plot details and character information are yet to be revealed although the story is expected to be similar to the previous ‘Knives Out’ movies that featured Craig’s sleuth solving a murder while surrounded by a host of colourful characters.
Brolin has previous experience in major franchises after playing the villain Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and appearing in both ‘Dune’ flicks in the role of Gurney Halleck.
Johnson previously gave ‘Knives Out’ fans a taste of what to expect in the latest whodunnit.
He posted on X: “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.
“We’re about to go into production on the 3rd one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going. (sic)”
Netflix acquired the rights to the second and third ‘Knives Out’ films in a $450 million deal in 2021 but Johnson has claimed that even more movies could be made as long he and Craig remain interested in the franchise.
He told Total Film magazine: “As long as the two of us are still having fun, and as long as we can continue to make these truly new experiences each time, and find new ways to challenge ourselves.
“The second we feel like we’re repeating ourselves, or just turning a crank on a machine, we’ll stop. Because to me, the whole conception of this whole series is the same way Agatha Christie did it with her books – we’re doing something new and surprising every time.”

Elle Fanning in talks for Badlands role

OHMYGOSSIP — Elle Fanning is set to star in ‘Badlands’.
The 26-year-old actress is in talks to join the cast of the new movie that is set in ‘The Predator’ universe.
Plot details are yet to be revealed but it will once again feature the extraterrestrial big game hunter that first appeared on the big screen in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1987 movie.
‘Badlands’ will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who revived the sci-fi action franchise with the 2022 film ‘Prey’ which starred Amber Midthunder and broke viewing records on Hulu.
Trachtenberg has once again teamed up with ‘Prey’ screenwriter Patrick Aison for the story.
The premise is not yet clear but insiders indicate that it won’t be set in the past like ‘Prey’ but in the future instead. It is also uncertain if it will go straight to streaming as its predecessor did.
Sources close to the project say that movie bosses were keen to get Fanning on board after discovering that she is a fan of the franchise and set up a meeting between her and Trachtenberg.
The ‘Maleficent’ actress is now expected to close a deal to join the cast and it is hoped that filming will commence later this year.
Meanwhile, Elle previously explained that she would love to step behind the camera and direct at some point in the future.
Speaking to Variety, she said: “It’s something that I do want to do badly. You’ve just got to find the right story. What is it that you want to tell? Is it going to be personal? Is it not? Are you going to write it? Are you not? A lot of big questions. I will for sure one day.”

“He’s always coached my teams growing up, and we always developed as a team.
“I will definitely utilise training with him.
“He’s on me to get training and get into peak fitness for the match.
“We went to the gym recently and he put me through a tough session.
Bobby – who is playing alongside Usain Bolt, Maisie Adam, Roman Kemp and Lee Mack at Stamford Bridge – admitted that Jeff is probably “more excited” for him to hit the pitch with
He said: “I think my dad is more excited than I am.
“He’ll be in the stands on the day and wouldn’t miss it! I think he’s living through me when it comes to Soccer Aid.”
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant recently revealed that he wanted to be turfed off the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition as the loss of his mum made him “shy” and how much he struggled with fame., even though he ended up in the final.
Bobby told the Sunday Times: “I don’t want to be famous. Maybe I did when I was younger, now I just want to act. I went on Strictly because dancing makes me happy.
‘The more I learn about fame, the less I’m interested in it. A couple of weeks during Strictly, it got too much. I only felt peace when I came home. I wanted to get voted off.
‘What happened to me was very public. It made me shy as a kid. I was more interested in observing the world than engaging in it.”

Dame Joanna Lumley had to stop Jennifer Saunders from killing off their Ab Fab characters

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Joanna Lumley had to stop Jennifer Saunders from killing off their ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ characters.
The 78-year-old actress starred as boozy fashion editor Patsy Stone in the classic BBC sitcom alongside writer Jennifer – who played hapless PR guru Edina Monsoon – and had to put her foot down when her co-star suggested “destroying” their alter-egos.
She told My Weekly: “I utterly adore Patsy and the thing is, she can’t be destroyed. I hope I’m not saying anything out of turn, but Jennifer said at one time, ‘Shall we just kill them off and bury them?’
“I wrote back the fastest email return I’ve ever written. I said, No, we’vepromised the world we will never die! And to be honest if all that vodka and champagne they’ve necked over the years hasn’t done the job, then why on earth would their creator be able to do it?”
The travel documentary presenter also recalled some of her moments from the series – which ran sporadically from 1992 until 2012 and officially ended with a 2016 film – and remembered being spotted by surprised members of the public when they filmed on location.
She said: “I loved it when we saw them as very old people in one episode. We had all kinds of prosthetics made to make us look really old. Scraggly necks and bald caps under very thinning hair, awful hands, badly fitting false teeth, little humps on our backs and our bosoms looked like empty sandbags! We could hardly walk because we werre laughing so much. We went out on location dressed like that.
“We drove there in a bus with the crew and the make-up people. Jennifer and I were sat near the front and I was by the window. We stopped at a traffic light and an open-topped car pulled up next to us.
“I grinned at the man who was driving and I heard him say to the woman who was sitting next to him, ‘Oh look, it’s Joanna Lumley!’ It was so funny.”

Alexandra Burke is ‘pinching’ herself after being cast in a TV show

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexandra Burke is “pinching” herself after being cast in a TV show.
The ‘Bad Boys’ hitmaker – who shot to fame when she won the ITV singing competition ‘The X Factor’ in 2008 and went on to star in many a West End show like ‘Sister Act’ – is “beside” herself after getting the chance to star in the Paramount+ crime drama ‘Curfew’ as acting is something she has wanted to do since childhood
The 35-year-old singer told New! magazine: “I’m so beside myself that I got picked for such a moment on camera. I was like, ‘Sorry, me?’. I’m counting my lucky stars and pinching myself. Acting is the one thing that my mum said to me when I was younger to cut out and focus on the singing and now its come back around. So, she was right – it always comes back, it’s just taken a long time. I’ve done theatre, obviously but this is a different level when it’s television. It’s a whole different way of working. It’s getting up at five in the morning and finishing at 3am the next day – and still being a mum.”
Alexandra gushed about how “lucky” she was to have her nine-month-old and a 23-month-old children – whose names and genders she has not revealed publicly – with her footballer husband Darren Randolph, 37, and how they have improved their lives.
She said: “Becoming a mum has made me even more aware of enjoying each moment and still being present. I’ve achieved so much already which I’m grateful for in my career, which is a short career really. Since having children, I’m enjoying everything 10 times more. The early starts are wonderful with them, family time with Darren and the kids. I couldn’t ask for anything more and I don’t remember my life without them. It’s unbelievable and I feel very lucky to have been given birth to two amazing human beings – and I get to call them ours. It’s so special.”

Death in Paradise inspires another spin-off, say sources

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Death in Paradise’ has inspired another spin-off, say reports.
The BBC crime procedural, set on the fictional Caribbean island of St Marie, has already spawned ‘Beyond Paradise’ starring the original show’s alum Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman, one of the newest members of a Devon police force – which began in February 2023 – and now reality documentary series ‘Policing Paradise’ is said to be on the way.
An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It’ll look at what the real life police get up to as opposed to the fictional ones in Death in Paradise – and there’s quite a difference.
The source added that the crimes do not get as cleanly wrapped up within the hour-long episode as they do in the fictional version.
They continued: “Viewers who are used to the crime being solved every week might find that reality is not quite so neat. Just like the show’s plots, there is a lot of murder but unlike them far fewer murders are actually solved – and certainly not within a few days.
“There aren’t as many love stories either! Real life is a bit more gritty.”
When approached for comment, the BBC declined to comment.
The news broke that former ‘EastEnders’ star Don Gilet, 57, would be stepping into the job vacancy left by star Ralf Little – who took over from Ardal O’Hanlon – when he quit the series in May.
The 44-year-old actor said of his departure on X: “Well, as of an hour ago on the Death in Paradise official social media, the news is out. I have actually known for a couple of weeks but obviously couldn’t say anything.
“The new detective is the wonderful Don Gilet and I just want to say, from me to you Don, I hope you have the most wonderful time. It’s the most magical experience and I hope you get everything out of it and wish you the best of luck. I’m absolutely sure you’re going to be magnificent.”

Rachel Adedeji reflects on her time competing on The X Factor: ‘There were moments…’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Adedeji learned “what the industry was like” when she competed on ‘The X Factor’.
The 32-year-old singer and actress competed on the sixth series of the ITV1 talent show in 2009 and while there were some questionable backstage moments, she admitted that the whole experience was a positive one, especially because she had previously been unsure if fame was for her.
She told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “It was an interesting time and I loved my experience. I’m sure there were moments that were a bit ‘mmm!’
“Little things the producers might encourage you to say, certain things you didn’t want to talk about, or you might not want to wear a certain outfit or sing a certain song, but they’d make out it was your choice.
“I’m very fortunate because it gave me an insight into what the industry was like. I was very much ‘I don’t know if this level of stardom is for me, but it’s given me the tools to know where I want to go.”
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ star – who is now starring in the musical ‘Passing Strange’ at the Young Vic in London – memorably had her name read out each week in a dramatic fashion by Peter Dickson, and while she used to struggle with her surname, the viral moment has gone on to be remembered time and time again by social media sites like Hunsnet.
She said: “It’s so funny because on day one or two of rehearsals, someone said, ‘Do you mind people saying your name in that dramatic way?’ and I said, ‘I love it, go ahead!!. It became a running joke.
“When I was growing up, I was so embarrassed about my surname, because it wasn’t a common one. When the teacher would say the register, they’d never know how to pronounce it and everyone would laugh. So going on The X Factor and having Peter say my name. exactly how it should be pronounced means that people now know how to say it. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Kevin Costner didn’t want to make Horizon: An American Saga a TV show

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Costner ignored calls to make ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ a TV series as he treasures the big screen “experience”.
The first two chapters in the Oscar-winning star’s Western epic will be released this summer (with two more to follow in the future) and Kevin explained that he has taken a gamble by releasing the saga in cinemas.
Speaking to Empire magazine, he said: “I had somebody who said, ‘Look, please don’t do this, Kevin, let’s do this.’
“But I’m glad about what I’m doing. I believe in the big screen. I believe in that experience. I also believe in what will come to your television. You know, I’m not one of those guys that has a director’s cut. The f****** movie I make is the director’s cut.”
Kevin, 69, has contributed around $58 million of his own money to fund the film and hopes that the project leaves a lasting impression on audiences.
The ‘Dances with Wolves’ star said: “I’m not a fool, but I’m not afraid.
“I will own this movie the rest of my life. So will my family. And movies are a lot more than their opening weekend. They have value throughout their life, and I will own this movie throughout my life.
“And people will find it. And when they do, whether it’s opening weekend or not, they’re going to find a quality. They’re going to find a story that they’re going to want to revisit or share with someone. And that’s the power of a movie to me.”
Kevin continued: “My hope is that I get this money back, but you know what, I’m not going to fall apart if it (doesn’t happen).
“I’ll lose some things that I had valued, but they’re just things I’ve kept. I should add, I don’t want to have to ever do this again. But I don’t live my life in fear.”

‘It’s just crazily in my DNA’: Robert Downey Jr. would consider Iron Man return

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Downey Jr. is “surprisingly open-minded” to a return as Iron Man.
The 59-year-old actor played the superhero for more than a decade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and would consider a comeback as the character because the role is in his “DNA”.
In conversation with Jodie Foster for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Robert said about putting on Iron Man’s suit again: “It’s just crazily in my DNA. Probably the most like-me character I’ve ever played, even though he’s way cooler than I am. I’ve become surprisingly open-minded to the idea.”
It is not the first time that Robert has discussed coming back as Iron Man as he revealed earlier this year that he would “happily” play the role again even though the character was killed off in the 2019 movie ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
Downey Jr. told Esquire magazine in April: “It’s too integral a part of my DNA. That role chose me. And look, I always say, never, ever bet against Kevin Feige. It is a losing bet. He’s the house. He will always win.”
Despite the star’s comments, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ directors Joe and Anthony Russo explained that they cannot envisage a return for Iron Man after the character’s death in their blockbuster.
Speaking to GamesRadar at the Sands International Film Festival recently, Anthony said: “I don’t know how they would do it. I don’t know what the road to that would be.”
Joe added: “I mean, we closed that book, so it would be up to them to figure out how to reopen it.”

Sam Taylor becomes first contestant to be dumped from this summer’s ‘Love Island’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Taylor is the first contestant to be dumped from this summer’s ‘Love Island’.
The Chesterfield-born hairdresser, 23, was ditched on Tuesday (05.06.24) night’s episode of the ITV show after newcomer Joey Essex, 33, decided to couple with 26 year old Samantha Kenny.
After the new romance left Sam single in the villa, he was kicked off to the shock of his fellow castmates.
Sam said in his exit interview he was “disappointed to be leaving so soon” as he wanted to work his “magic and get to know everyone a bit better”.
He added: “When Joey walked in I had a feeling I might be in trouble. Samantha is a stunning girl and I knew that they would get on.”
When asked how his fellow islanders reacted when former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ regular Joey entered the villa as its first famous ‘bombshell’, Sam said: “We were all buzzing – it was so nice to meet him, he’s such a big character, it was great getting to know him.
“Ultimately, he had to do what he had to do which didn’t work in my favour but no hard feelings.”
He went on about the girls he met: “First impressions, Nicole was up there, she’s super bubbly and chatty like me.
“Nicole is stunning, but so is Samantha although she wasn’t who I was initially drawn to.
“I’d have loved to have spent more time with Nicole and Harriett. Jess is also lovely. We got on because we’re both Northern.”
Sam said about his other male competition on the show aside from Joey: “All the lads were amazing, we got on so well from the get go. The friendship was strong straight away, all the girls were lovely too.”
He revealed in an interview before he entered ‘Love Island’ about how he thought it was the perfect time to find his romantic match: “At this point in my life I just want the opportunity to find a real connection with someone.
“I’ve been looking for that connection for quite some time but I’ve never really found it. I’m hoping I find that spark in the Villa.”

Joey Essex’s sister Frankie ‘didn’t have a clue’ he signed up for Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Joey Essex didn’t tell his sister Frankie Essex he was entering the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The former ‘TOWIE’ star left his sibling guessing whether he was joining the ITV2 reality series, as she suspected that was the case because when he went MIA.
Frankie – who has twin babies, Luella and Logan, with partner Luke – told The Sun: “I didn’t have a clue, but I did guess it because I just couldn’t get hold of him. I just couldn’t fathom it out.
“I was thinking this is so weird. And it was only because his agent said, ‘I’ll ring you tomorrow’ that suddenly I just thought ‘he must be going on Love Island’. But then as the episode was going on I just thought ‘no, it can’t be’, and then I forgot about it.”
This week, Joey was the first celebrity bombshell of the current series, and his sister insists he has good intentions.
She said: “Joey is proper single at the moment. But he’s seen me with the babies, and they just love him, they sit on his lap, and he just looks at them and goes ‘they’re unreal. I just feel like it’s his time now to settle down.”
Joey himself explained he has become so desperate to find love.
The reality star – who entered the programme at the end of Monday (03.06.24) night’s episode – shared how bosses launched a “military operation” to keep his arrival in the series secret, telling the newspaper: “I feel like Joey Bond, ‘the names Essex, Joey Essex.
He added about his quest for love: “I just want someone to like me for me and now from what they see on TV.
