Sherrie Hewson ‘to become soaps oldest serial killer’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sherrie Hewson is set to become soaps oldest serial killer.
The 73-year-old actress – who previously played Maureen Holdsworth in ‘Coronation Street’ and Lesley Meredith in ‘Emmerdale’ – made her first appearance in ‘Hollyoaks’ last month as Martha Blake, the estranged mother of Patrick Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) and her character will reportedly “tear through characters like a knife through butter” on the Channel 4 show.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “Hollyoaks is at its best when there’s a major villain on the loose and Martha is going to top them all.
“She’s just as twisted as her murderous great-granddaughter Nico. She may be worse. No one’s safe with Martha around.”
Martha’s killing spree is expected to start after the upcoming ‘Hollyoaks’ relaunch in September, which comes as 20 cast members are due to be axed over the next couple of months.
The source added: “Obviously Sherrie is over the moon to play such an out-there character. She can’t wait to get her hands dirty with the blood of characters.”
When her ‘Hollyoaks’ casting was announced, the former ‘Benidorm’ actress described her alter ego as “wonderful to plau”.
She said: “It’s been a rollercoaster joining Hollyoaks! The character is just wonderful to play.
“Everyone is so lovely, such a great atmosphere to work in and so welcoming. We laugh a lot, what more could you ask for?”
And the show’s executive producer Hannah Cheers teased “many secrets to be uncovered” as Martha’s story unravels.
She added: “To be a Blake, you must be clever, captivating and charming on the outside… and calculating, cold and cynical on the inside, with a family dynasty so rich in history, it should come as no surprise that there are still many secrets to be uncovered.
“But for Sienna, Dilly, Liberty and Maxine, what happens next is not what anyone could have expected.”

Clarkson’s Farm legend Gerald is cancer-free

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ legend Gerald Cooper is cancer-free.
It was revealed on an episode of the popular Prime series – which follows former ‘Top Gear’ star Jeremy Clarkson, 64, and his attempts to run Diddly Squat in the Cotswolds himself with the help of farmer Kaleb Cooper, 25, the TV personality’s partner, Lisa Hogan, who is in charge of the farm shop and its produce, and 74-year-old stone wall specialist Gerald – that the lovable character, whose thick West Country accent delights viewers, had the disease and was forced to take a leave of absence from working on the farm.
However, fans have been delighted to learn he is now “happy and healthy”.
During series three, Jeremy said: “Gerald had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Something me and Kaleb discussed while trying to do what our absent friend normally does.”
He continued: “I’ve been phoning around, doctors and things I know, and his odds are really good but it’s scaring him to death.
Kaleb said: “He doesn’t understand, you know that.”
Jeremy agreed: “I know he doesn’t understand and he’s bewildered because, for obvious reasons, somebody said, ‘Look, I’m sorry it’s cancer’, and that’s all he heard. He’s desperately upset, terrified. Poor man.”
However, fans of the show are relieved that Gerald, who can be hard to understand, is doing well, with the fresh update on his health.
A picture of Gerald on the official X page for ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ was captioned: “A healthy and happy Gerald!”
Speaking his praises, Jeremy previously told the Oxford Mail: “It doesn’t matter if you can’t understand what he’s talking about, because he’s usually talking about Manchester United.
“He’s fantastic. We’ve known each other for a very long time. He’s … never been outside the village, but has worked on this farm for 50 years. He’s a great dry stone-waller, which is a dying art.”

Channing Tatum says scrapped 23 Jump Street script is ‘best he’s ever read’

OHMYGOSSIP — Channing Tatum would “love” to make ’23 Jump Street’ with Jonah Hill.
The duo starred together in ’21 Jump Street’ in 2012 and reunited for its sequel ’22 Jump Street’ two years later, with a third movie initially put into development a decade ago with plans for a ‘Men In Black’ crossover with James Bobin directing from Rodney Rothman’s script, but it never came to fruition.
Tatum told ComicBook.com: “There is a project that was written and it’s still the best script that I’ve ever read for a third movie.”
However, the ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ actor insisted the project never got off the ground due to decisions made higher up the Hollywood food chain.
He said: “A lot of bureaucracy, kind of above the line stuff. It’s really hard to get it made and we’ve been trying to get it done.”
Tatum would still “love” to reunite with Hill on the long awaited sequel, and his co-star is also keen on the project.
He added: “You know what, I’m going to put some good juju out there and I’m going to say I would love to see ’23 Jump Street’.
“I would love to do it with Jonah, and Jonah I know wants to do it. We would love to just get to go play again.”
The 44-year-old star previously admitted he is concerned about the effect streamers are going to have on the quality of storytelling.
He told Forbes: “The movie industry is just changing so much. It’s a different era now and it’s just getting crazier with the streamers.
“I do fear a little for the storytelling of it all. I think there will be less good storytelling and a lot more product out there.”
The star explained that the rise of streaming has even impacted theatrical releases as his 2015 movie ‘Magic Mike XXL’ was forced to have a marketing budget that exceeded the production budget.
Tatum said: “We made ‘Magic Mike 2’ for $12 million and they spent $60-70 million dollars to sell it.
“So, we’re spending exponentially more money to sell a movie than actually make the thing for you. That should be the other way around. We could be spending the money on the thing that the viewer is actually going to get to see and now it’s just who can create the most noise to break through the cataclysmic wave of content coming out every single day.”

Mia Goth reassures fans rebooted Blade movie is being handled with ‘care’

OHMYGOSSIP — Mia Goth insists the delayed ‘Blade’ movie is being made with great “care”.
The upcoming flick is a reboot of the original series and is being produced by the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU),
It was originally scheduled for a 2023 release date but has been heavily delayed due to some issues behind the scenes, with it now slated for a November 7, 2025, theatrical release.
Mahershala Ali, 50, will star in the titular role of the vampire slayer, whilst it was recently revealed that Mia is joining the cast as the villain Lilith.
The movie has gone through two directors, Bassam Tariq was first to go, followed by Yann Demange.
Mia insisted to Deadline at the premiere of ‘MaXXXine’ this week that: “[The cast and crew] really care, they do. They want to make a great movie. That’s the sense that I get from them and that feels good.”
The script comes from the likes of ‘Black Widow’ and ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ scribe Eric Pearson and ‘True Detective’ creator Nic Pizzolatto.
Wesley Snipes, who played the titular superhero in the 1998 ‘Blade’ adaptation, recently laughed at the production’s delays.
He posted to X: “Blade, lordylordylordy folks still lookin for the secret sauce, ridin snowmobiles in traffic, kinda rough.
“Daywalkers make it look easy, don’t they? (sic)”
In an interview with Uproxx, he did, however, puts his support behind Ali.
He said: “I don’t have any involvement, but I support the young artists and I support Marvel in their business decisions. It’s a beautiful thing. I think he’s a heck of a job. He’s got a heck of a job on his hands.”
Last year, Ali insisted he was confident the film would progress.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “I’m sincerely encouraged in terms of where things are at and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as the writing of the script and the directing and all that.”

Gemma Collins wants to be reincarnated as Victoria’s Secret model

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins wants to be reincarnated as a Victoria’s Secret model.
The 43-year-old reality TV star revealed she believes in reincarnation, the belief that the soul or spirit, after biological death, begins a new life in a new physical form or body, and she has high hopes to come back as a supermodel.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “I believe in reincarnation, absolutely. I really believe that’s what happens. We’re all spirits and we will all go on.
“Let’s hope next time God brings me back as a Victoria’s Secrets model. I’d love to see what it’s like to be that slim, tall and amazing.
“I hope he’ll give me that pleasure in life and I’ll experience how it feels.”
Gemma is very spiritual and has previously consulted with a shaman and psychic.
She said: “I’m very spiritual and I’m very into the spiritual realm.”
Gemma is also convinced she has supernatural tendencies herself and believes she could be a witch or a prophet.
She said: “I think I’m a witch because I’m very connected to nature. The difference between white witches and dark witches is that a white witch is very spiritual, into nature and can make magic happen. That is me. Dark witches focus on dark magic, black magic and all kinds of horrible things. I don’t believe white witches have warts on them either, or pointy noses.
““I honestly think I was put on the Earth to be some sort of prophet. It is something I will talk about in time.
‌“I have endured pain and suffering in my life, things haven’t always been easy, I have suffered. And now I can help people in their lives.”

Sir Michael Palin’s advice from late wife

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Michael Palin’s late wife still gives him advice.
The ‘Monty Python’ star, 81, was left devastated in May 2023 when his wife of 57 years, Helen Gibbins, died after a long battle with kidney failure and he revealed he still talks to her and knows exactly how she would reply if she was still alive.
He told ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’: “It’s like you’re a unit, and suddenly you are not a unit any longer, and it’s a bit like losing a bit of a limb, you’re not quite sure where you are.
“I do hear her and she had a great sense of humour. Sometimes I will have done something and I’ll get back and tell her about it.
“Although she’s not there, I know her reply and it makes me smile.
“I find myself idiotically in the sitting room on my own going ‘Oh yes!’ So that’s good.
“It’s been just over a year but I get on with work, that’s the thing.
“And I hear Helen saying ‘Get on with it, go on, stop messing about’.”
Michael revealed he is grateful to have family around, particularly his children and grandchildren, but admitted things are not the same without his beloved Helen.
He said: “She was great and we have good memories.
“So much of your own life is invested in that one person so there is a huge slice of my life which I now can’t really access in the same way.
“But we’ve got family, children, grandchildren, they sort of take over, but it’s not the same, not quite the same.”

Simon Cowell hoping ‘Midas Touch’ will lead to boyband success

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell’s new boyband search show will be called ‘Simon Cowell: Midas Touch’.
The music mogul – who was the mastermind behind One Direction – is on the hunt for a new group and will share the highs and lows with viewers on his upcoming reality TV show.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Simon has been speaking to Netflix for months about this new show and they’re close to dotting the I’s and signing the T’s.
“Netflix is the perfect place for his new show and Box To Box, who are producing the series, have worked with them before.
“Simon and his team have been working so hard on getting the show off the ground and a final deal is so close now.
“The name of the show has given people a bit of a laugh.
“Simon knows he is the best at what he does and calling his show Midas Touch gives a new meaning to blowing your own trumpet.”
‘Midas Touch’ will see the reality TV judge travel to Newcastle for auditions on July 4 and 5, before moving on to Liverpool, Dublin and London.
He will be hoping to recreate the success he had at ‘X Factor’ auditions in 2010 when Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson auditioned as solo singers.
Simon and his fellow judges put the quintet together to form One Direction, who went on to become one of the biggest boybands in the world.
However, it is likely that Simon will make one big change with his new boyband after recently admitting his big regret with One Direction was that he did not keep the rights to the group’s name.
Speaking on ‘The Diary of a CEO’ podcast, Simon explained: “The one thing I regret is I should have kept the name. I should have owned the name. That’s the problem. When you give an artist the name, it’s not yours. And that’s my only regret. So if you’re listening, I’ll buy it back from you.
“If one of the band members, for whatever reason, say they don’t want to tour, it can stop the others [from] touring. So, if it was me who owned the name, it wouldn’t be a problem.”

Jill Halfpenny reveals secret alcohol battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Jill Halfpenny has opened up about her secret battle with alcoholism.
The 48-year-old actress has been sober for over a decade but admitted she struggled to control her drinking in the past as she battled to come to terms with the loss of her father, who died when she was just four years old.
In her new memoir ‘A Life Reimagined: My Journey of Hope in the Midst of Loss’, she writes: “I began to see that I became a different person when I drank and I didn’t always like who I became.
“For a long time, alcohol had helped me escape, to stop thinking. Conversely, I thought it also helped me access all the things that lay dormant inside me.”
Jill also explained how another actress at AA helped her to cope.
She said: “As I calmed myself down, I noticed a woman walking around, asking a few of the attendees if they would be happy to do a reading. She looked radiant, happy… ‘I want what she has!’ I thought.
“I took a closer look and realised I recognised her. She was an actress. She looked at me and smiled warmly. I wanted to cry so bad.
“I experienced something I never have before – people, strangers, sharing how they feel. No small talk or pretence, just real authentic feelings.
“They were talking about how their insides didn’t match their outsides, how they struggled with feelings of unworthiness – and for the first time in my life, I felt completely seen.”
Jill’s dad Colin passed away at the age of 36 after suffering a heart attack during a game of football.
Meanwhile, Jill recently revealed she has found love again following the death of her partner Matt Janes in 2017, after he also had a fatal heart attack.
Speaking on ‘The One Show’, Jill said: “When you lose a partner, a romantic relationship, it can sometimes feel slightly like a betrayal if you move on and it’s not.
“You’re absolutely allowed to be happy again. If you do the process and the healing and the work, you can go into another relationship and be happy again.
“If you haven’t managed to do that work, there’ll always be a part of you somewhere else. I feel I do deserve to be happy and I do feel happy and it’s really nice to be in love again.
“When my partner died, I really wanted my son to know you can be in a lot of pain and have a lot of suffering but you can get through it.
“I think it’s an important lesson for a child. Say to them, I will be OK, this will take some time but it will be OK. I didn’t want to hide it away from him.
“I wanted to be honest and say I’m struggling but I will be OK. I hope he’s learned a lot from that.”

Scarlett Johansson is astonished to be leading cast of new Jurassic World film

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Johansson cannot believe that she is going to lead the cast of the next ‘Jurassic World’ movie.
The 39-year-old star has confirmed that she will be starring in the upcoming film in the dinosaur franchise and revealed how ‘Jurassic Park’ was one of her favourite childhood pictures.
Scarlett told ComicBook.com: “I am an enormous ‘Jurassic Park’ fan.
“It is one of the first movies I remember seeing in theatres. I remember it so vividly. It was life-changing and mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am.”
The new ‘Jurassic World’ movie is being directed by Gareth Edwards with David Koepp returning to the series to pen the script and Scarlett quipped that she would have happily been in the film for only five minutes.
The ‘Black Widow’ actress said: “David Koepp wrote it and returned after 30 years to write it and he’s so passionate about it.
“I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it.
“The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable.”
Bryce Dallas Howard will not be returning as Claire Dearing in the flick after starring in the previous ‘Jurassic World’ trilogy but has no doubt that the forthcoming movie will be a success.
She told Collider: “David Koepp wrote it, he wrote ‘Jurassic Park’. Scarlett Johansson is in it. Gareth Edwards is directing it. He directed ‘Rogue One’, ‘Godzilla’.
“This is gonna be a great movie. And so I would have no advice for anyone who’s part of that team because they’re gonna nail it.”

Bob Odenkirk to return for Nobody sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Bob Odenkirk is returning for the sequel to ‘Nobody’.
The 61-year-old actor has agreed to return for a follow-up to the acclaimed 2021 action movie from Universal Pictures and 87North.
Timo Tjahjanto is directing from a script by Odenkirk, Derek Kolstad, Aaron Rabin and Umair Aleem.
Kelly McCormick and David Leitch are producing through 87North’s first look deal with Universal with Odenkirk and Marc Provissiero doing likewise for Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment.
The film is scheduled for release in August 2025 but plot details are being kept under wraps.
The original picture centred on Hutch Mansell (Odenkirk), an ordinary suburban father who is suppressing his past as a deadly government assassin.
When his family are shaken by a home invasion, Hutch’s dormant rage and skills re-emerge as he is thrown into conflict with a Russian drug lord.
Bob is best known for his role as Saul Goodman in the hit TV series ‘Breaking Bad’ and its spin-off ‘Better Call Saul’ and previously explained that he would prefer to play relatable characters rather than feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Speaking to The Independent, he said: “I always like to keep things grounded, relatable and smaller. I don’t think I’m built for that world.
“I’m built for characters that make you feel like that guy could live next door.”
Bob had expressed a desire to work in the action genre again after featuring in ‘Nobody’.
The star said: “I still train multiple times a week and if I get my way you’re going to see me doing more action. I found the action sequences a great deal of fun and close to doing sketch comedy … I love the early Jackie Chan films which had humour in them. I’d like to get that in the future.”

Shirley Ballas’ Dr Who villain wish

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas wanted to play a ‘Doctor Who’ villain.
Show star Ncuti Gatwa, 31 and his alter-ego’s sidekick Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson, 20) were joined by ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge Shirley and professional dancer Johannes Radebe for the second episode of the latest season.
The episode, titled ‘The Devil’s Chord’ saw the pair cross paths and bust out their best movies with the ‘Strictly’ stars, even though Shirley originally hoped she would have a villainous role.
Shirley told The Mirror newspaper: “It’s been around since the Sixties. I have watched ‘Doctor Who’. I thought I was going to be a Dalek. So no I didn’t take any persuading.”
Meanwhile, during a Q and A session about the episode, Millie previously said: “I remembered reading ‘The Devil’s Chord’ and getting the biggest goosebumps at the end.
“It just seems like this incredible episode, and I was like, ‘Wait, we dance with Johannes and Shirley from ‘Strictly’? Ok. Next page.’
“It’s just like the craziest thing. And it was crazy to film it.
“And, I mean, that day we were dancing with them, we had a ball, We had so much fun.”
During the episode, the pair travel back in time to the 1960’s in what is a fun nod to The Beatles.
Ncuti added: “I loved ‘The Devil’s Chord’ episode so much. [I] loved reading it and then working and shooting it.
“We had an amazing choreographer who whipped us into shape with such kindness. He made the choreography accessible, so we had a lot of help and a lot of fun.”

Ricky Gervais wants Will Smith for Extras

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Gervais wants Will Smith to star in ‘Extras’.
The 63-year-old comedian would love to reboot his BBC sitcom – which was set in the world of TV and film extras and saw a number of celebrities play hilarious fictional versions of themselves – and he believes Will would be the perfect guest star.
Ricky has already been crafting some ideas on how to poke fun at Will’s Oscars incident in 2022, when he slapped host Chris Rock after the comedian made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
Sharing his dream scene with The Sun newspaper Ricky quipped: “Will, you’ve got to stop slapping people, mate.”
“They said my wife’s name.”
“‘Yes, but she was in the delicatessen and they called her name because she was next to get some ham.”
“Well, I had to slap him.”
Ricky previously recruited stars including David Bowie, Orlando Blood, Ben Stiller, Les Dennis and Shaun Williamson for guest roles on the BBC One show, which aired between 2005 and 2007.
Meanwhile, in the aftermath of the slap, Will posted an apology statement to Instagram, saying: “I would like to publicly apologise to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
He later shared a video expressing how “deeply remorseful” he was about it following his resignation from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, his 10-year suspension from attending the annual Oscars ceremony, and widespread condemnation from Hollywood.
Will said: “It’s all fuzzy. I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk and when he is, he will reach out so I will say to you Chris, I apologise to you. My behaviour was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

Ralf Little’s career fears after Death In Paradise exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Ralf Little is worried about his career following his shock exit from ‘Death In Paradise’.
The 44-year-old actor played DI Neville Parker on the BBC drama for four years and although he has admitted that his departure was the best thing for the story, he revealed he still worries about his next acting role.
Speaking on Kate Thornton’s ‘White Wine Question Time’ Ralf explained: “It’s not always a bed of roses.
“I genuinely believe that until you are Ryan Gosling or at that level, that underlying, nagging feeling of, ‘What if this is the last job I get?’ I’m not sure that ever goes away.
“It’s a weirdly mentally tough profession.”
However, Ralf insisted there are huge advantages to being an actor and he feels blessed with his career success.
He said: “You can’t buy going on stage at the BAFTAs and getting an award, you can’t buy playing in Soccer Aid against Zinedine Zidane.
“It’s those moments where I go, ‘I am so lucky’.”
Ralf previously opened up about his departure from the show, explaining he would have loved to have played Parker for another 20 years but he felt the character’s story needed to be wrapped up.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, he said: “This last series was always going to be my last series. I had talks with the BBC, and with [production company] Red Planet, and we all agreed that it just felt… if it was in my heart, like if it was just a heart decision, I’d have wanted to do it for 20 more years.
“But just for the show, and for my character Neville, it just sort of felt like his story… it deserved to be finished, and his journey deserved to be completed and he deserved a nice happy ending. And so it just felt right.”

Martin Compston almost pulled out of Line of Duty

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Compston almost pulled out of ‘Line of Duty’
The ’40-year-old actor almost didn’t get his career-making break as Steve Arnott in the BBC police drama – which co-stars Adrian Dunbar, 65, and Vicky McClure, 41 – because of his wish to star in the Scottish “version of ‘The Godfather’” but his agent pushed him towards the Jed Mercurio-created series.
Martin told The Big Issue: “When I was offered ‘Line of Duty’, I’d already been offered the film ‘The Wee Man’.
“And at the time my focus was really on ‘The Wee Man’ because growing up on the west coast of Scotland, that story is so ingrained in the culture, it’s like our version of ‘The Godfather’.
“So I was actually panicking. I was about to pull out of ‘Line of Duty’. I’m forever grateful to my agent who said, you have to do this. I had no idea what a big success it would be.
“I just knew it had an amazing cast and script. I had no idea it would be that big.”
Martin recently revealed he was “delighted with the response” to the news the show was coming back for a seventh season.
He told Chris Moyles on his Radio X show: “I’m delighted with the response. People are now really intrigued to see if there is another one, but there’s nothing changed for us in terms of where we’re at after we finish a series… We always take a year between [seasons] at least. The dust settles and Jed figures out whether there’s a story to tell. So I’m delighted that people are so excited and so desperate to find out but, as I say, this is what we’ve done after every series so we’ll just wait and see what he thinks.”

Eddie Murphy wanted ‘evolution’ in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F story

OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie Murphy needed to see “evolution” for Axel Foley before signing up for ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’.
The 63-year-old star returns as the detective for the first time in three decades in the new movie and explained that it has taken so long to get to the big screen because he wasn’t satisfied with the “generic” story proposals of the past.
Eddie told Screen Rant: “The reason why the movie didn’t come together for years and years and years is because, in all the scripts that I read, there was no evolution. It was just, ‘Axel’s coming back now, and he’s on a new mission.’
“It was like, ‘Okay, now this has happened.’ It was just the generic things. ‘This happens, and that happens, then this happens, and that happens.’ And nothing worked.”
The ‘Dr. Dolittle’ star explained that it was the storyline about Axel’s estrangement from his daughter Jane Saunders (Taylour Paige) that eventually piqued his interest.
Murphy said: “Once they added the element where Axel was married, and he’s not with his wife anymore, and they have a child and he’s estranged from his child, and he’s still in this job and all of his contemporaries are leaving… All he’s got is his job, and he’s got this horrible relationship.
“And the reason Axel’s back in Beverly Hills on the surface is cops and robbers, but behind the scenes, it’s really to reconcile with his daughter and all that stuff. Once we added that element, then we had a movie.”
Eddie also expressed his delight at getting to reunite with Judge Reinhold and John Ashton on the film as they reprise their roles as Lieutenant Billy Rosewood and Chief John Taggart respectively.
He said: “Working with those two guys? That’s the heart of the movie, me and those guys, and my relationship with those guys.
“The reason ‘Beverly Hills Cop 3’ was soft was because Taggart’s not in the movie, and the villain isn’t villainous enough, and Axel didn’t have any skin in the game.”

Emma Roberts eyes expanded superhero film role after Madame Web

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Roberts is keen to star in another superhero film after featuring in ‘Madame Web’.
The 33-year-old actress featured as Mary Parker in the much-criticised ‘Spider-Man’ spin-off and explained that she would love to return to the genre in a more significant part.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Emma said: “I was a civilian in ‘Madame Web’.
“I loved getting to just pop in and play Peter Parker’s mom, and I love the director of that movie (S.J. Clarkson). I had so much fun. I think that playing comic book characters is so fun. I would love to get the chance to play one that gets a little more action, maybe.”
Emma’s character in ‘Madame Web’ was pregnant with Peter Parker – the boy who would go on to be Spider-Man – and the star felt she was “heroic” even though she wore a pregnant belly instead of a superhero costume in the flick.
She explained: “I just got to wear a nine-month pregnant belly. Again, that is heroic! You don’t even know what that’s like.
“And then I had to do it on ‘American Horror Story’, for another six months of my life wearing a belly. I should have three kids by now, and I only have one, with the amount of times I’ve had to be pregnant.”
‘Madame Web’ was savaged by the critics and flopped at the box office when it was released earlier this year but Dakota Johnson – who played the titular role – was unsurprised by the poor response to the movie.
She told Bustle: “I’m not surprised that this has gone down the way it has. I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again because I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now.
“But sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, ‘Wait, what?'”
