Ellie Taylor found Strictly Come Dancing experience ‘very humbling’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Taylor found her stint on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ “very humbling”.
The 41-year-old comedian appeared on the BBC show in 2022 where she and her professional dance partner Johannes Radebe finished in seventh place and says that her experience on the dancefloor taught her some invaluable life lessons.
Ellie told the Metro newspaper’s 60 Seconds with column: “The terror of being about to go live to millions of people doing something you cannot do is very humbling.
“What I’ll always take from it is that I tried my absolute hardest, and that’s the message you want to pass on to your kids, isn’t it?”
Ellie recently filmed the ‘Gladiators: Celebrity Special’ – which is expected to air over the festive period on BBC One – where she and her fellow TV stars Rob Beckett, Joel Dommett and Louise Minchin took on all sixteen of the show’s athletes in several different physical events.
While the ‘Ted Lasso’ actress admitted she had a tough time on the programme, Ellie – who has a 10-year-old daughter and 14-month-old son with husband Phil Black – insisted the experience was “really fun”.
Ellie said: “While ‘Strictly’ was a marathon, ‘Gladiators’ was like a sprint – a sprint lined with muscly women.
“Afterwards I felt like I’d been hit by a bus made of women who love protein powder. They are machines. Just being in the same room as a load of Gladiators when they’ve had their hair and makeup done and are in their outfits with fake tan … they look like a different breed. It’s like popping up and visiting the gods but you’re actually in a locker room in Sheffield.
“It was really fun, and my little girl was in the audience. It fuelled me on in quite a pathetic way to try to please her. I watched it as a kid – it’s proper family viewing.”

‘It changed my life’: Joe Pasquale reflects on his I’m A Celebrity stint

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Pasquale has said appearing on ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ was a “life-changing moment”.
The 63-year-old comedian won the fourth series of the ITV reality show back in 2004 and thinks the programme gave him the confidence to take on challenges in his life, even though he wasn’t interested in signing up at first.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Joe said: “I said it’s not for me but I didn’t have a gig so I thought, what’s the worst that can happen?
“It changed my life. After that I jumped out of a plane. I thought, ‘If I can do that, what else can I do?’ It was definitely a life-changing moment.”
During his stint in the jungle, the TV star faced a myriad of different trials, including being submerged in a tank full of rats and collecting flags from a helicopter rope ladder.
Joe continued: “If I think I’m scared of that, I’ll make sure I do it. It’s another reason for doing stand-up. It still scares me every time, but I enjoy that feeling you get. It’s the same feeling you get when you’re doing a parachute jump – when I feel the most alive.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming series – which is set to include ‘Loose Women’ panellist Jane Moore, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star Oti Mabuse and McFly singer Danny Jones – Joe revealed that he believed former boxing world champion Barry McGuigan had what it takes to become the next King of the Jungle as he has the “discipline” to cope with life in camp.
The squeaky-voiced star said: “He’s a nice bloke but, most of all, he has discipline. You must control your emotions out there, whether it be anger or frustration.
“Barry will be used to hunger, with his training schedule he would have had to do extreme diets.”

Horror is getting a sequel

The 2006 movie, set in New Zealand, followed a group of people who are forced to defend themselves when a genetic engineering experiment turns harmless sheep into flesh-eating zombies.
WTFilms is now working with original writer-and-director Jonathan King who will bring the follow-up to the big screen from a story he wrote with Matthew Grainger and Rosie Howells.

The 52-year-old Hollywood action man stars alongside Chris Evans, Lucy Liu and J. K. Simmons as Santa Claus, who is kidnapped before Christmas and has to be rescued by his security team.
Since swapping wrestling for acting, Dwayne – known as The Rock during his WWE days – has always wanted to appear in a festive film and says ‘Red One’ is a dream come true.

Cult horror film Tremors set for reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Tremors’ could be set for a reboot, according to original writer S.S. Wilson.
The 1990 monster movie starred Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Michael Gross and Reba McEntire and focused on the small desert town of Perfection, Nevada, which comes under attack from giant, prehistoric, giant worm-like creatures.
‘Tremors’ became a cult hit upon home release and thanks to repeated TV screenings and spawned six direct-to-video sequels and a 2003 television show, ‘Tremors: The Series’.
The film was co-written by Wilson and Brent Maddock and the pair have secured the rights to their original screenplay with Wilson spilling at the 2nd Annual TremorsFest in Santa Fe, New Mexico, that they can now remake movie.
He told fans: “What we have now, just got, are the rights to our original screenplay. That’s good, we can remake (‘Tremors’) if we want to. We don’t have the rights to ‘Shriekers’, we don’t have the rights to ‘Ass Blasters’, we don’t have the rights to ‘Tremors’ 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.”
The return of the rights to Wilson and Maddock by Universal Pictures has happened due to the rule that creators can transfer the rights of a given copyright after 35 years.
This means that Wilson and Maddock and their company Stampede Entertainment own that screenplay from the original film but not the whole ‘Tremors’ franchise.
Shrikers and Ass Blasters were creatures that featured in the ‘Tremors’ sequels which explained more about the life cycle of the ‘graboids’ – the name given to the subterranean worm-creatures from the original.
Bacon and the late Ward – who passed away in May 2022 at the age of 79 – played handymen Val and Earl, respectively, the main protagonists of ‘Tremors’.
Back in 2022, Kevin, 66, admitted he would be interested in reprising his role as Val as Valentine McKee only featured in one film.
He said: “It was one film of mine that I wanted to revisit that character. I don’t look back at all.”

Terrifier 3 star Lauren LaVera pauses work on debut screenplay due to role in The Monster

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Terrifier 3’ star Lauren LaVera has had to stop work on her debut screenplay.
The 30-year-old actress has become the newest Scream Queen thanks to her role as Sienna Shaw in Damien Leone’s slasher franchise, which sees her alter ego battle demonic killer Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton).
Sienna had started work on her own movie project but she has had to pause it because she has started filming new horror/thriller film ‘The Monster’.
When asked by a fan on social media site X what was happening with her screenplay, Lauren answered: “I’ve been so busy filming that I’ve had to put it on the back burner. It’s a good problem to have, I just literally have no time. I’ll get back to it probably after the holidays.”
Lauren recently describer her screenplay – which she is co-writing – as a “coming-of-age comedy”.
She told Swagger Magazine: “I’ve been writing a coming-of-age comedy with my best friend about our time studying abroad in Europe, and just the shenanigans we got into.”
Cameras started rolling on ‘The Monster’ this week in Danbury, Connecticut, and Lauren took to her X account to tell her followers that she’d “had such an amazing first day on set”, adding “God I love my f****** job”.
‘The Monster’ is being directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, best known for his work on the ‘Saw’ franchise, and also stars ‘Blood Diamond’ actor Djimon Hounsou.
The plot focuses on two millennials who make quick money by leasing incredible New York City apartments they don’t own to people who don’t know they are being scammed, but that con comes to an end when they encounter an apartment owner with a dark secret.
Lauren recently admitted she is ready to embrace her Scream Queen status and continue to work in the horror genre, but as well as her role in ‘The Monster’ she has been auditioning for some comedy roles.
Speaking to Swagger Magazine, she said: “I’ve been auditioning like crazy. I’d love to feed my creative love in a different way and try to do something more comedic next, so most of my auditions have been in that vein. I would still do horror, just as long as the story was different from what I’ve already done. Of course, I love horror and would be thrilled to continue in the genre, especially if it means working with Damien again!”

Emmerdale to end coercive control storyline with one-hour special

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’ will honour survivors of domestic abuse with a one-hour special episode next month.
The soap have confirmed the coercive control storyline involving Belle Dingle ( Eden Taylor-Draper) and Tom King (James Chase) is coming to an end following the wedding planner’s decision to report her husband to the police, and the show will break from its usual format in the special by sharing real stories.
Producer Laura Shaw said in a statement: “When we first embarked on this journey we knew we wanted to show domestic abuse, coercive control and manipulation in all its guises.
“The privilege we have on a drama such as ‘Emmerdale’ is being able to show the reality of a situation like Belle’s over a longer period of time to authentically reflect what so many people go through in real life on a daily basis.
“We knew from the outset that Belle would need some sort of closure on Tom and we know our ‘Emmerdale’ audience always look forward to our villains getting their comeuppance. We don’t want to spoil the outcome of this story and reveal what will happen to Tom, but needless to say, Belle’s going to be in a much better place by this Christmas.”
Lindsay Oliver, CEO of domestic abuse charity New Beginnings Peer Support, said the organisation are “pleased” with the way the soap has shone a spotlight in the issue.
She said: “When ‘Emmerdale’ explained they hoped to include the real life testimonies of domestic abuse victims and survivors within these scenes we knew it would be the truest way for them to authentically close this storyline.
“We have been on board with this story since 2023 when ‘Emmerdale’ first approached us about depicting a cohesive and controlling relationship on the series. We are pleased ‘Emmerdale’ have highlighted and are continuing to showcase this issue right to the end. And we hope these final episodes will continue to raise awareness about domestic abuse, controlling relationships and the fact there is help out there.”

Sister Act 3 undergoing script changes following Dame Maggie Smith’s death

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Sister Act 3’ needs some “readjustments” following Dame Maggie Smith’s death.
The long-awaited movie has been in the works for some time, but star Whoopi Goldberg has confirmed the project has been delayed while scripts are rewritten after her co-star – who played Mother Superior in both the 1992 original and 1993 sequel ‘Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit’ – passed away in September at the age of 89.
Appearing on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, Whoopi said: “We’re having to make some readjustments because we just lost Maggie Smith, as you know.
“And so, we will get it done. We will get it done. It just is a shift.”
Earlier this year, Whoopi – who plays Deloris Van Cartier in the film franchise – teased the film would be around “soon” but had no specific date to offer.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I can say it’s coming. It’s coming around the mountain when it comes. It’ll be here soon. I’m excited. It’s time for it, you know, it’s time.”
After years of delays, the 68-year-old star thinks now is the right time for the movie.
She explained: “Because we need to laugh, you know?
“I don’t know what we’re going into, but whatever it is, I’m gonna need to chuckle a lot…I think I’m good when I make other people laugh, too.”
The ‘View’ presenter – who is also producing the movie along with Tyler Perry – previously revealed she had offered Pope Francis a cameo in the film because he seemed to be “a bit of a fan”.

Ryan Reynolds reveals Marvel are ‘obsessed’ with Channing Tatum’s Gambit

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds says Marvel are “obsessed” with Channing Tatum’s Gambit.
The 43-year-old actor plays Deadpool in the MCU and he “fought” for the ‘Magic Mike’ star to land a cameo as the card-flipping mutant with kinetic energy in this year’s blockbuster ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
Reynolds is hopeful that Marvel bosses will grant the 44-year-old star his dream solo film as the ‘X-Men’ character after it was shelved, but insists he has no say.
Speaking on Entertainment Weekly’s ‘Awardist’ podcast, he said: “I honestly don’t know what goes on behind closed doors in the bookkeeping sessions at Marvel, but I do know that they’re obsessed with him in that role.
“It’s kind of like the same situation I went through. Once you show that it works well, that’s really what they need. Sometimes they just need to see it in action.
“And Channing is so singular in how he plays that character, but also he’s so beautiful physically, the way he moves and the way he can pick up steps.”
There were talks of Tatum playing Gambit in 2006’s ‘Gambit in X-Men: The Last Stand’.
And because Tatum couldn’t fit it in his schedule, Taylor Kitsch played Gambit in 2009’s ‘ X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ – the first movie featuring Ryan’s Deadpool.
The ‘Proposal’ star recently vowed to suit up again as Deadpool if it will help get his pal’s ‘Gambit’ movie get off the ground.
In a post on his Instagram Stories, Reynolds wrote: “It’s impossible not to love and root for [Channing Tatum].
“When he makes a ‘Gambit’ movie, I’ll return the favour. If he needs someone to carry sandbags, I’m in. If he needs a Deadpool, I can do that. Someone to provide fresh orange slices to the crew, no problem. Name it.”
Tatum recently said that he hoped his cameo in the recent Marvel film would revive the ‘Gambit’ movie.
When Variety asked the ‘Magic Mike’ star if he thinks the overwhelmingly positive reaction to his appearance in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ would kick-start work on his own movie, he said: “I sure hope so. From your mouth to God’s ears. Write it into existence, my friend. Please.”
Tatum went on to reveal he’s made it clear to studio boss Kevin Feige and Disney CEO Bob Iger he’s still interested in playing the comic book character.
He shared: “[Of] course I’ve said it. I’ve been saying I want it for the last 10 years. It’s in Bob Iger and Kevin Feige’s hands. I pray to God.”
The ‘Blink Twice’ actor previously thanked Reynolds for allowing him to finally become Gambit.
In a post on Instagram, he said: “There is almost no one that has had my back in this industry more than Ryan. I thought I had lost Gambit forever. But he fought for me and Gambit. I will owe him probably forever.
“Cause I’m not sure how I could ever do something that would be equal to what this has meant to me. I love ya buddy … All things happen for a reason. I’m so grateful to be in this movie. It’s a masterpiece in my opinion. And just pure bad ass joy. I was literally screaming in the theatre.”

Ninja Warrior UK ‘axed’ by ITV

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Ninja Warrior UK’ is said to have been axed by ITV.
The iconic obstacle assault course game show, which was hosted by Ben Shephard, Rochelle Humes and Chris ‘Kammy’ Kamara, is said to have been cancelled due to the ratings success of rival BBC’s reboot of ‘Gladiators’.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “For years Ninja Warrior was one of ITV’s biggest shows and scooped up all those families who missed Gladiators.
“Ben Shephard, Rochelle Humes, and Kammy made the series a big success.
“But when the BBC revived Gladiators last year, it sounded the death knell for ITV’s ninjas. It was an absolute ratings champion, pulling in over six million viewers versus 1.6 million for Ninja Warrior’s last series in 2022.
“A decision was therefore taken to rest Ninja Warrior for good.”
The show went on a three-year hiatus after the 2019 series but returned with a sixth series titled ‘Ninja Warrior UK: Race for Glory’ in 2022.
The programme first aired on ITV in 2015 and was based on the Japanese game show ‘Sasuke’.
After the revival of ‘Gladiators’ – which is hosted by father and son Bradley and Barney Walsh – averaged six million viewers for this year’s series, the BBC quickly greenlit a second instalment, with the 11-part series set to air in early 2025.
That’s not all, there is also set to be a “one-off” Celebrity Special.

“Season five of Clarkson’s Farm is coming.”
He added in the caption: “It’s the 5th november… this just felt right Clarkson’s Farm S5 is officially in production.”
His co-star Kaleb Cooper recently revealed Jeremy is feeling “really good” and is back on his farm after emergency heart surgery to clear his blocked arteries.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on October 26, Kaleb was asked how his boss is and said: “He’s doing good, he’s really good.

“He had the procedure and he’s doing really good.”
Jeremy recently admitted it was “fine” after undergoing heart surgery.

“At least I think that’s what the doctor said.”

Louis Theroux to explore ‘highs and lows’ pop music with new BBC Two series

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Theroux will explore the “highs and lows” of British pop music with a new documentary.
The investigative journalist, 54, is known for his series of hard-hitting films and his new one will focus on the careers of acts from the 1990s and 2000s, including Take That and Blue, as part of a three-part series for BBC Two.
He told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “I couldn’t be more thrilled about this series.
“An epic story featuring a cast of stars and star-makers, spanning three decades, it involves some of the icons of modern British pop.
“We see them through them through their highs and lows, hearing from the key players, as we chart the golden years of boy bands.
“How they came together, the experience of sudden fame, the opportunity and temptations that came their way, conflicts within the groups, between the groups, and between the boys and their managers.
“It’s a gripping fable about getting everything you dreamed of, and it not being what you imagined, centered on a generation of young men, and their managers, who were wildly successful and also immensely vulnerable, having the times of their lives and also in some cases cracking up.
“Those boys we all watched singing and dancing in tight formation – Take That, East 17, Westlife, Blue, Five, Damage, 911 and so many others – are now middle aged men who have the time and the maturity to look back reflect on what they went through.
It’s taken us more than a year to make the series. Now I’m just excited for people to see it.”
The series will feature interviews with artists, including ex-Take That member Robbie Williams, 50, former Westlife star Brian McFadden, 44, and members of East 17, Blue, Five, 911 and Damage about their boy band experiences.
It is thought that former ‘X Factor’ judges Simon Cowell, 65, and Louis Walsh, 72, will appear as it covers the advent of the television talent shows, and their impact on boy bands.
‘Boybands Forever’ is a Mindhouse production for BBC Pop Music TV and BBC Two, and it was commissioned by Jonathan Rothery, Head of Popular Music TV.
The firm’s commission follows BBC Two’s award-winning ‘Gods of Snooker’ and ‘Gods of Tennis’.

Sarah Hadland reveals how her next Strictly Come Dancing routine will pay homage to her Miranda days

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola will dance to ‘Proud’ on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in homage to her ‘Miranda’ days.
The 53-year-old actress is currently competing on the BBC Latin and ballroom show alongside professional Vito, 32, but she initially became widely known for her role as Stevie Sutton in Miranda Hart’s eponymous sitcom and her character would always sing the Heather Small classic, complete with a handheld cardboard cutout of the singer.
The running gag came about when Sarah first met Miranda at the audition for the series – which initially ran from 2009 until 2015 – and she just happened to be singing it when they went away together on a trip.
Speaking on ‘Strictly: It Takes Two’, she said: “When I first met Miranda and auditioned to be on the show, they sent us away for a couple of days with a camcorder to build a bit of a rapport.
“I was just wandering around and, as I do, suddenly sang [the chorus]. She wrote it down and said ‘we should make it a thing’. That’s how it began.”
On Saturday (09.11.24) evening, the former ‘Job Lot’ actress and Vito will perform the American Smooth to the pop track, and Sarah recalled meeting with her former co-star just days ago, who gave her some comedic advice on executing the dance.
“It was quite intense. When she mentioned free-leg, I thought she was joking, but it is a thing. She was talking about a button pressing on my knee – she said ‘imagine there was a button on my knee and you’ve got to press it.’
“Straight away I understood it. I said that ‘he’s [Vito] been going on about this, that and other – diamonds and triangles and this shape and that shape’. She says ‘button on my knee’, and I was sorted.”
