Ralf Little and Will Mellor teaming up for new TV series

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Mellor and Ralf Little are teaming up for a new series.
The ‘Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps’ co-stars will face a series of challenges on each episode of ‘Will And Ralf Should Know Better’ as they navigate life in their forties.
The show – which will air on the rebranded channel U+Dave – will see Will and Ralf discover the perils of living off grid with no loo role, embrace spirituality, and face their fears of getting older.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “A lot has changed for Will and Ralf since Two Pints — they were 25 and 21 when they met.
“But they have stayed great pals throughout and that really comes across in the intimate, frank conversations they have along the way.
“They’ve got their joint podcast, but it will be nostalgic for ‘Two Pints’ fans to see them on telly.
“It will also re-introduce the fellas to those who now know Ralf better as ‘Death In Paradise’s DI Neville Parker, and Will from ‘Strictly’ and as ‘Corrie’s Harvey Gaskell.”
Ralf, 44, is “thrilled” to be working with his old pal.
He said: “I am thrilled to be working with Will again as it’s always so much fun.
“This time we get to explore how we should be living in the modern world while educating ourselves, and having a laugh at the same time.”
And 48-year-old Will hopes they can learn from their experiences.
He added: “I’ve wanted to do a series like this for years.
“Going on a journey with Ralf to open our minds and push our limits . . .  what could possibly go wrong?
“We’re both in our forties and probably a bit set in our ways, so now is the perfect time to see how we could be doing life better.
“Hopefully, we’ll come out of it better equipped for the modern world and, ideally, still in one piece.”

Shrek 5 sets release date for July 2026

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Shrek 5’ will be released in two years’ time.
Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy are all on board to reprise their roles for the next instalment in the franchise, DreamWorks Animation confirmed, with the movie set to hit cinemas on 1 July 2026, 16 years after the release of the fourth film, ‘Shrek Forever After’.
The studio confirmed the news on X.
A spokesperson wrote: “Not too Far, Far Away… @Shrek 5 is coming to theaters on July 1, 2026 with Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz.”
Walt Dohrn, who previously worked as writer and artist on the second and third movies and was Head of Story on the fourth, will direct the film, with Brad Ableson as co-director. Gina Shay is returning to produce alongside Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
The confirmation comes a month after Eddie confirmed work had started on the film, and that his character Donkey will be getting a spin-off movie.
He told Collider: “We started doing ‘Shrek’ four or five months ago.
“I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year. We’ll finish it up.”
Illumination founder Chris Meledandri first discussed the film last year and admitted he was hopeful of getting the original cast back together.
The film producer told Variety: “We anticipate the cast coming back. Talks are starting now, and every indication that we’ve gotten is there’s tremendous enthusiasm on behalf of the actors to return.”
Meledandri has worked on ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ and explained that a similar creative process will be carried out for the return of ‘Shrek’.
The producer said: “It’s not that dissimilar to the process that we went through with ‘Mario’, where you look at what the core elements are that audiences have loved, and you do your very best to honour those core elements.
“And then you’re hard at work to build story elements and new characters that take you to brand new places. The original cast is a huge part of that.”

Lena Dunham quits Polly Pocket movie starring Lily Collins

OHMYGOSSIP — Lena Dunham has quit making the ‘Polly Pocket’ movie she worked on for three years.
The ‘Girls’ creator was directing and penning the script for the live-action flick and ‘Emily in Paris’ star Lily Collins had been confirmed to portray the titular pocket-sized doll character from the toy line.
She told The New Yorker: “I’m not going to make the Polly Pocket movie. I wrote a script, and I was working on it for three years. But I remember someone once said to me about Nancy Meyers: the thing that’s the most amazing about her is that the movie she makes or the movie she would be making with or without a studio, with or without notes—that somehow her taste manages to intersect perfectly with what the world wants. What a f****** gift that is. And Nora Ephron, too, who was such a mentor to me, but always said, ‘Go be weird. Don’t kowtow to anyone.'”
Lena praised Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster ‘Barbie’ movie and admitted she doesn’t think she has “that in me”.
She added: “And I just — I felt like, unless I can do it that way, I’m not going to do it. I don’t think I have that in me. I feel like the next movie I make needs to feel like a movie that I absolutely have to make. No one but me could make it. And I did think other people could make Polly Pocket.”
Lily was also recruited to produce the movie in addition to playing the lead role.
The film was to centre on a young girl and a pocket-sized woman who form a friendship.
In a statement, Lily had said: “As a child who was obsessed with Polly Pocket, this is a real dream come true and I can’t wait to bring these tiny toys to the big screen.”
The film was being produced with Mattel Films (‘Barbie’) alongside Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), as well as Lena’s production company, Good Things Going.
The 38-year-old star had said she was “thrilled” to be bringing the project to life and intended to make it “smart” and “playful” in order to speak to young women – “without condescension”.
She added in her own statement: “Polly Pocket was responsible for countless hours of childhood escapism for me – Polly gave me a tiny world of magic and autonomy to narrate, so it’s pretty poetic to be tackling these same ideas now as a director collaborating with the brilliant Lily Collins, Robbie Brenner, Mattel and MGM. I’m so thrilled to bring to bear both my love of this historic property and also my deep-seated belief that young women need smart playful films that speak to them without condescension.”

Karen Hauer has ‘seen things’ as she insists Strictly curse ‘exists’

OHMYGOSSIP — Karen Hauer has hinted at secret victims of the “Strictly curse”.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional has opened up on the so-called curse, which is said to have seen some celebrities and their pro partners find a spark while working on the BBC’s Latin and ballroom show, even if they’re already in a relationship.
Asked if it’s “real”, she cryptically told new! magazine: “I’ve seen things. I’m not gonna talk about them. It exists. It’s there.”
However, Karen – who is loved up with boyfriend Simon Davidson – insisted that if someone decides to “go and play”, it’s their decision, and no different from any other workplace romance.
She added: “Whoever wants to go and play, that’s there on them. It’s like any other job – it just happens.
“People are like, ‘Oh but you guys are so sexy and you’re so close up and personal’, and I’m like, ‘Listen, I’ve been up close and personal with a lot of people but I don’t go there because I respect my job and I respect people.'”
Gorka Marquez – who also appears on ‘Strictly’ and will be heading on tour with Karen in 2025 – insisted the ‘Strictly curse’ isn’t real.
He argued: “No. That happens everywhere. It could happen everywhere. It’s just one of those things.”
He pointed out that if someone does get their head turned on the show, they probably weren’t “really happy” to begin with.
He added: “To be honest, I always said, if it happens, it’s because the people are not really happy. So, it doesn’t matter what it is.”
The two stars also addressed the departure of Giovanni Pernice, who won’t return for the upcoming series amid allegations of “threatening and abusive behaviour” towards his former partners.
Karen said: “We’ve all been just so busy with our own tours. He’s on tour as well. So it’s been really tough to kind of even, you know, see one another. But, you know… he’ll definitely be missed.
Gorka added: “I don’t know anything. I try to stay away from that. ‘Strictly’ is not on. The only thing I know is, I am back and I’m excited that we start very soon.”

Doctor Who fans may ‘never’ find out secret behind Mrs Flood mystery

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell T Davies admits a big ‘Doctor Who’ mystery might “never” get explained.
The 61-year-old showrunner has opened up about Anita Dobson’s enigmatic character Mrs Flood, who bookended Ncuti Gatwa’s first series in the TARDIS as she broke the fourth wall in both ‘The Church on Ruby Road’ and ‘Empire of Death’.
Fans have been trying to figure out the meaning behind the deliberate winks to the audience, and while there is a reason behind it, Russell isn’t sure he’ll ever make that public.
He told SFX magazine: “That hasn’t been explained, and it might never be, frankly.
“It’s very interesting, within the ‘Doctor Who’ offices, we know exactly why that happens and yet I’m showing no sign of putting that on screen.
“There is actually a reason for it that was in a very early draft of ‘The Star Beast’. But I see no need to explain it whatsoever.”
He insisted ‘Doctor Who’ has more freedom than other shows with its own “proscenium arch”, which is a theatre term referring to the area of a stage where a show takes place.
It’s the frame where the characters, locations and the story itself exist, while the audience sit outside that – although in some productions, characters will occasionally acknowledge the crowd themselves.
He said: “I think it’s a programme which you can very happily turn towards the audience. It’s a very fine, very simple tradition.”
Russell noted that it isn’t really possible in some more straight laced programmes, but it works for the iconic BBC sci-fi show.
He added: “My sister watches that, she doesn’t blink. She actually doesn’t blink when a character turns to camera and gives them a wink.
“I mean, you would if it was ‘Pride and Prejudice’, that would be odd.
“But there’s something showy about ‘Doctor Who’, there’s something proscenium arch about it. There’s something arch about it, full stop.”

Gemma Collins fears legal action if she reveals Who Do You Think You Are? spoilers

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins is worried she’ll be sued if she reveals any spoilers about her ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ episode.
The 43-year-old reality star signed on to BBC programme which sees celebrity’s trace their family roots through history, though she is concerned show bosses may hit her with a hefty lawsuit if she shares any details before the episode airs.
According to the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column, she said: “They’ll put me in a lawsuit if I say anything. I am sworn to secrecy.
“They’re going to kill me if I say anything. I need to keep quiet, no one wants The GC dead!”
‘The Only Way Is Essex’ icon spent weeks burrowed away in books to investigate her ancestral roots, and conceded the process was “mentally tiring and really emotional”.
She explained: “Learning about your heritage and your family is a lot to take in. It was mentally tiring and really emotional.
“They put me in a lot of libraries. I’d never been in so many libraries in my life.”
Although making the show was tough, the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ alum emphasised it was “such an honour” to have taken part in the series – which has welcomed guests like Sir Ian McKellen, Danny Dyer and Bear Grylls in the past.
She said: “To be asked to do the show is such an honour.
“People like Dame Jude Dench have done it and now The GC has done it. It was such an honour.”
Previously, it had been reported the ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestant had made some “shocking” discoveries about her familial history while working on the programme.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column: “Gemma has been filming an episode for the new series and it has been an emotional experience for her.
“There have been a lot of discoveries that have been really shocking.
“Viewers are going to get to see a different side to Gemma on the series.”

Richard E. Grant and Tom Ellis join The Thursday Murder Club

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard E. Grant and Tom Ellis have joined the cast of ‘The Thursday Murder Club’.
The duo are the latest additions to an all-star ensemble for the film adaptation of Richard Osman’s 2020 crime novel of the same name.
The pair join a line-up that includes Dame Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, David Tennant, Sir Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
Other new cast members include Geoff Bell, Paul Freeman, Sarah Niles and Osman’s wife Ingrid Oliver.
The Netflix film is being written and directed by the ‘Home Alone’ filmmaker Chris Columbus and follows a group of four friends in a retirement home who gather to solve murders for fun but end up getting embroiled in a real case.
The quartet are played by Mirren (Elizabeth), Kingsley (Ibrahim), Brosnan (Ron) and Imrie (Joyce).
‘The Thursday Murder Club’ started a hugely successful series of books from Richard that have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide – including ‘The Man Who Died Twice’, ‘The Bullet That Missed’, ‘The Last Devil to Die’ and a planned fifth novel which is set to be released next year.
Osman has waxed lyrical about the casting and suggested that it is the strongest group of British actors to be assembled since the ‘Harry Potter’ movies.
Speaking on his ‘The Rest Is Entertainment’ podcast, the ‘House of Games’ presenter said: “There’s some great names and some more names coming as well.
“I think this is the greatest British cast assembled since the [‘Harry Potter’] movies.”
Richard, 53, previously revealed that he had long harboured a desire to pen a crime novel.
He told The Guardian newspaper: “I’ve always known how hard it is to write a crime novel and I have such respect for people who do it. I never felt I was in a position where I could do it properly and give it the time it deserved until about 18 months ago.
“I decided I would start it and once I got going I found that I couldn’t stop. But I decided I wasn’t going to tell anybody because I didn’t want to be that person who goes around saying, ‘Oh yeah, I’m writing a book’, but it never happens.
“When I got to the end I thought, well, there at least I’ve found out that I can do it. But I had no idea what people would make of it.”

Jennifer Lawrence starring in Why Don’t You Love Me?

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lawrence is to star in ‘Why Don’t You Love Me?’.
The 33-year-old actress has signed up to produce and act in the adaptation of Paul B. Rainey’s 2023 sci-fi comedy graphic novel.
The story follows an unhappily married couple who struggle through their personal and professional lives until they discover that their reality is not how it seems and that there could be alternatives.
Robert Funke – the creator of the series ‘On Becoming a God in Central Florida’ – will write the script.
Jennifer is to produce the film with Justine Ciarrocchi for her Excellent Cadaver company with ‘Midsommar’ filmmaker Ari Aster also involved as a producer.
The ‘Hunger Games’ star will also be acting in and producing the murder mystery picture ‘The Wives’ that was acquired by Apple Original Films last month in what was described as a “highly competitive situation”.
Plot details are yet to be revealed, but the film is said to be inspired by the ‘Real Housewives’ TV franchise that centres on the antics of well-to-do women in various locations across the United States.
Lawrence and Ciarrocchi are producing for Excellent Cadaver and are to be joined by Jeremy O. Harris and Josh Godfrey.
Meanwhile, Jennifer admitted last year that she is “scared” of working alongside Method actors – where performers stay in character even when they aren’t filming – as she wouldn’t know how to communicate with them off-camera.
Speaking on the YouTube series ‘Hot Ones’, she said: “I would be scared to work with somebody who’s Method because I would have no idea how to talk to them. Like, do I have to be in character?
“That would just make me nervous. But I haven’t seen another process that I’ve been curious about, because you don’t really know about them all the time.”

Danny Dyer praises wife for standing by him when he ‘lost the plot’

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer has praised his wife for standing by him through “a lot of s***”.
The 46-year-old actor first met Joanne Mas – with whom he has kids Dani, 27, Sunnie, 17, and nine-year-old Arty – at school when they were 13, and they finally tied eight years ago after being on a real “journey” together as they started to live their life in the public eye.
Appearing on the ‘How To Fail’ podcast, he said: “It f***** my head up when I became really famous. I didn’t quite know what to do with it and I suppose she stood by me for a lot of s*** and had to be very patient with me.
“And of course I do believe in the marriage vows and sickness and health and for better for worse.
“So it’s hard to stay in a relationship for that long with the press attention and with me being a p**** for many years, because I was, I hold my hands up, I lost the plot for many years.”
He pointed out being with someone since being a teenager can be “so rare”.
He said: “Because if you think about who you was at 13 and who you are now, to grow with somebody at the same time, at the same rate, and then you throw fame in the mix, and what happened with me, which she never wanted, and she came along for this ride with me, both from the same council estate.”
Joanne keeps him “grounded”, and has helped him through difficult times while dealing with her own struggles.
He explained: “I didn’t quite know who I was and I suppose she had to suffer all that on a national level.
“I love her with all my heart. You know, she challenges me every day. She’s kept me very grounded. I’ll tell you that now.”
Back in 2001, he suffered a “major panic attack” after taking drugs and staying out late the night before he performed Harold Pinter’s ‘Celebration’ on Broadway.
He recalled: “I take it very seriously, my work, and I love it, and I strive to be better every night and I’d never got in a situation, I’d heard about people that had dried on stage because it’s a massive thing and all that, and it never happened to me.
“Anyway, I thought that I could sit up all night, smoking crack, and then walk on stage, and of course you can’t f****** do that, it’s a ridiculous idea.”
He forgot his lines on stage and “didn’t have a clue what to say”, and broke down after going off stage in between scenes.
He added: “I have to come back on again in a bit and I come off stage going, ‘I can’t go back on, I can’t, I just had a major major panic attack’, but I just had to get on with it.”
Pinter himself came to give him “a cuddle” and words of comfort, which was a “wake up call”.
Danny said: “I have done many plays since (and) that fear has never left me.”

Jeremy Clarkson horrified after finding underwear at pub he bought on ex-dogging site

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson found some underwear in the grounds of his Cotswolds’ pub on a former dogging site.
The former ‘Top Gear’ presenter, 64, recently purchased The Windmill pub near Burford, West Oxfordshire for reportedly almost £1 million, and he was shocked after finding pair of underwear in the grounds of his new establishment, which sits on a spot that was once popular with doggers
Taking to Instagram, Jeremy shared a video where he can be seen holding up a pair of black knickers with a stick before saying: “Tell me you bought a pub on a dogging site without telling me you bought a pub on a dogging site.”
The ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ star previously admitted he was unaware of The Windmills unsavoury history before he bought it.
In his column for The Sunday Times newspaper, he wrote: “So I did a deal and then discovered that there was a famous dogging site in the area.
“Photographs from inside the nearby lavatories showed holes in the cubicle walls, strong pornography on the floor and evidence of enthusiastic consumption of the drugs made at the first pub I’d considered.
“So I went to see West Oxfordshire district council, expecting no help at all, and, blow me down, it was very happy to close the dogging site. So I was in business. My dream would become a reality.”
As well as this grizzly discovery, Jeremy was less than thrilled to find his new boozer was plagued with plenty of other issues, including a loft “full of dead rats”.
‘The Grand Tour’ host penned: “The cellar is too small, the gable end is falling down, the outside decking area is dangerous, the water is unfit for human consumption, the loft is full of dead rats and the lavatories are illegal.”
Recently, Jeremy revealed renovation work on the pub is underway.
In a post to Instagram, he said: “New pub coming along. Only the water, gas, lavatories, staff and electrics to sort and we’ll be ready to go.”

Big Brother star Chanelle Hayes fell ill and ‘lost a lot of weight’ before wedding day

OHMYGOSSIP — Chanelle Hayes “lost a lot of weight really unexpectedly” due to ill health before her wedding.
The former ‘Big Brother’ star tied the knot with fiance Dan Bingham last month two years after their engagement, and she admitted “things could have been a huge disaster” after the illness meant “a lot of alterations” needed to be carried out on her dress.
She told OK! magazine: “My health hadn’t been the greatest in the weeks leading up to the wedding – I’m waiting on test results for a few things and I lost a lot of weight really unexpectedly.
“So my dress needed a lot of alterations and it wasn’t actually ready until the day before the wedding.
“We got married on Friday and I wasn’t able to pick it up until after 4pm on Thursday. It was horrific – I just kept thinking, ‘It’s OK, Dan said he’d marry me in a bin bag!’
“I did feel amazing on my wedding day but I didn’t anticipate being that thin.”
When it came to the dress itself, the 36-year-old reality star always expected herself to choose a “simple” gown, but she went in a totally different direction.
She said: “It’s covered in sparkles and pearls, and I never thought I’d like that. I thought I’d have something simple, but ended up going for the complete opposite.”
Chanelle just visited one shop – Love and Cherish Bridal Boutique in Ossett – and instantly fell in love with the “fifth dress” she tried on.
She added: “I went shopping with my mum and a couple of my bridesmaids and, as soon as I put it on, we all thought, ‘This is the one.’
“I also didn’t think I would want a veil, but changed my mind on that, too.”
Despite her health woes and last minute alterations to her dress, Chanelle wasn’t nervous on the big day.
She said: “I was so calm. My hairdresser even said I was the most relaxed bride he’d ever seen. The thing was, I had nothing to be nervous about. I was going to marry someone who loves me to pieces.”

Alan Carr ‘feels bad’ for talking about his dad in early standup career

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Carr regrets digging into his dad during his early stand-up career.
The 48-year-old comedian is gearing up for the second season of his autobiographical sitcom ‘Changing Ends’ – which details his younger years growing up as the gay son of the Northampton Town football manager in the 1980s – and has now reflected on his early comedy career in which he often grilled his father.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: “Growing up I think of lot of gay men have odd relationships with their dad.
“My dad was the best dad in the world, but I was like an alien in the house.
“I do feel bad because when I started out in stand-up, I talked about dad in my act. My dad’s not an a***hole, he’s just an 80s northern football manager who wanted his son to play football.”
Despite wishing he had kept his father out of his early routines, the ‘Chatty Man’ host has joked his dad was to blame for him being so camp.
During an appearance on the ‘Getting Curious’ podcast, he said: “My dad was a football manager. You know what they say about gays, the evolution, if you have a really masculine dad, they have a gay son. I do know a lot of gay men whose dads are.
“I high kick out of my mum’s vagina, there’s been like a mix-up at the hospital and there’s some hairdresser looking at his son playing rugby going, ‘What’s happened?’”
Alan also bashed the people who branded him a “stereotype” because of his campness.
He argued: “The thing is with camp, if I put it on then have a go at me.
“On the outside I am probably a stereotype but my brain’s not, if it was everyone would have a podcast or a hit chat show.
“If it was easy to be me, everyone would be doing it.”
The second season of ‘Changing Ends’ starts on ITV1 with a double bill on July 20.

Daisy Edgar-Jones no longer starring in Carole King biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy Edgar-Jones is no longer starring in the Carole King biopic ‘Beautiful’.
It was announced in 2022 that the ‘Normal People’ star hand landed the role of the celebrated singer-songwriter in the picture but she has now confirmed that the project has fallen through.
Daisy told Variety: “That’s no longer happening. I love Carole and I love that story, but it was a year ago that they decided [to no longer pursue it].
“I did learn a lot of piano. I think it’s a gorgeous story, and the script probably needs a little more time in the oven.”
Despite the film failing to come to fruition, Daisy did explain how she got to meet the ‘It’s Too Late’ singer on a Zoom call.
The British actress continued: “I did meet Carole King on Zoom, and I was like, ‘This is the coolest thing ever.’ She really enjoyed ‘Normal People’, so she was a fan of that and I was a fan of hers.
“I get so starstruck by musicians, much more than actors, and Carole was one where it was quite hard to keep my cool.”
Although Edgar-Jones claimed that the film is no longer happening, sources told Variety that a movie is still in development without her involvement.
Daisy’s latest film role is in the disaster flick ‘Twisters’ – a sequel to the 1996 film ‘Twister’ – and she explained how she had a great time working with co-star Glen Powell.
Speaking about working with the actor, she told Hello! magazine’: “Glenn came to the premiere of ‘Fresh’ a few years ago – I met him then and he was lovely.
“I was so excited when they were thinking about who to cast for Tyler and I was like, ‘Glen is the one.’ He’s just the loveliest person and we just had so much fun, we had such a great laugh the whole time.”

Paul Mescal hopes Gladiator II and Wicked can repeat Barbenheimer phenomenon.

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Mescal is hopeful that ‘Gladiator II’ and ‘Wicked’ can repeat the ‘Barbenheimer’ phenomenon.
The two blockbusters are both set to hit cinemas on November 22 and Paul hopes that the opposing films can recreate the frenzy that came with the release of ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ in July 2023.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Paul said: “Wickdiator doesn’t really roll off the tongue, does it? I think my preference would probably be Glicked if it has a similar effect to what it did for Barbie and Oppenheimer.
“It would be amazing ’cause I think the films couldn’t be more polar opposites, and it worked in that context previously. So, fingers crossed people come out and see both films on opening weekend.”
The Oscar-nominee plays the role of Lucius Verus in the sequel, the former heir to the Roman Empire who is forced into slavery, and explained the challenges of getting into shape for the part without going over the top.
The 28-year-old actor said: “I just wanted to be big and strong and look like somebody who can cause a bit of damage when s*** hits the fan.
“I think also, sometimes, one could, in striving for that perfect look, end up looking more like an underwear model than a warrior.
“Muscles start to grow, and that can be deemed aesthetic in certain capacities, but there is something about feeling strong in your body that elicits just a different feeling.
“You carry yourself differently. It has an impact on you psychologically in a way that is useful for the film.”
Sir Ridley Scott’s historical epic comes 24 years after the original was released and Paul explained that the sequel pays “homage” to its predecessor while creating a new story at the same time.
He said: “I think the main thing that I’m excited about is the homage that it pays to the first one but also the kind of new direction that the film takes.
“I think it’s well balanced in that regard in terms of the physical action of the film and the balance of the kind of political aspects of the film as well.”

Love Island dumps 4 Islanders including series 11 original

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Jess White was among four Islanders dumped from the villa on Wednesday night (10.07.24) following a public vote.
The series 11 original was axed from the ITV2 dating show along with Hugo Godfroy – who she is partnered up with – Emma Milton and Blade Siddiqi, who all joined during this year’s Casa Amor stage of the series.
Jess admitted it was “bittersweet” to be leaving the villa, but insisted the experience has been “everything and more” than she ever imagined.
She said: “It’s a bittersweet moment, I always said if I made it past week one I’d be proud of myself, so to make it to week five is amazing.
“It was nothing like I expected, it was everything and more.
“Everyone has been beyond lovely from the amazing Islanders I was with in the Villa to the production team and crew, everyone has just made my experience even more than I ever imagined it to be.”
Earlier in the week, Hugo appeared to be cooling things off slightly with Jess, but she is “looking forward to continuing things” with him on the outside, and insisted the pair won’t put any pressure on a romance.
She said: “It’s very early days but from the moment I saw him I knew he was exactly what I’d been waiting for.
“I’m one of those people who knows what I want from the offset, I’m very honest, maybe sometimes too honest which is why I didn’t want to force things with the other boys, but patience paid off and I’m glad I met Hugo.
“It took me a long time to find a connection but I’m so glad I did.
“I’m looking forward to us continuing things on the outside and he did say he likes Manchester, so you never know.
“It’s exciting times ahead for us, we aren’t putting pressure on it, but I’m looking forward to carrying on what we had in the villa.”
Hugo is looking forward to going on a date with Jess outside of the villa.
He said: “I can’t wait to go on a nice date now we’re out, she’s such a nice girl, I can’t fault her and I’m looking forward to seeing where things go.”
Emma admitted her ‘Love Island’ experience was “short and sweet”, but one she will “treasure forever”, and Blade will look back on his time in the villa “fondly”.
He said: “Overall, it was such a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of.
“For me, it’s an experience of a lifetime and something I’ll always look back on fondly.”
‘Love Island’ returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX, and in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

Kevin Costner’s Horizon Chapter 2 pulled from August release after box office flop

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Costner’s movie ‘Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2’ has been pulled from its release next month.
The sequel to the first chapter of his period Western – which hit the big screen late last month but has struggled critically and at the box office – had been planned for a theatrical release in August, but producers want to “give audiences a greater opportunity” to see the first film.
In a statement, a New Line Cinema spokesperson said: “Territory Pictures and New Line Cinema have decided not to release ‘Horizon: Chapter 2’ on August 16 in order to give audiences a greater opportunity to discover the first installment of ‘Horizon’ over the coming weeks, including on PVOD and Max.
“We thank our exhibition partners for their continued support as moviegoers across the U.S. discover the film in its theatrical run.”
Discussions were held between New Line and Costner’s own Territory Pictures, and part of the attempt to give the first film – which was co-written and directed by Costner, who also starred in the movie as Hayes Ellison – time to breathe includes a debut on Premium VOD from July 16.
Territory Pictures said: “The audience response to ‘Horizon’, and enthusiasm for seeing our story continue in ‘Horizon 2’, has been incredibly gratifying.
“Kevin made this film for people who love movies and who wanted to go on a journey.
“The support that we have received from film fans, and the theater owners, as they experience the first chapter of this saga only serves to reinforce our belief in them and the films that we have made, and we thank them for coming on board for the ride.
‘We welcome the opportunity for that window to be expanded as we know it will only serve to enhance the experience of seeing ‘Horizon 2.’ ”
Costner put $38 million of his own money into the first film, with the rest of the $100 million price tag funded with the aid of two unknown investors, and the sale of foreign rights.
He previously said he was determined to get the pictures released in cinemas, both “from a monetary standpoint” and “artistically”.
And despite the initial box office disappointment, Kevin is pushing on with his plans to make a quartet of movies.
He added to IndieWire: “People are going to just keep coming, and the story is going to keep coming, and it’s going to expand.”
