Jodie Whittaker ‘protective’ over ‘beautiful’ Doctor Who ending

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Whittaker admits she feels “protective” about how her ‘Doctor Who’ run ended.
The actress feels a special attachment to the closing scenes of ‘The Power of the Doctor’ featuring the Thirteenth Doctor and companion Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill), with the characters’ relationship not progressing any further after Yas confessed her feelings for the Time Lord.
Speaking ahead of their Big Finish audio series debut, Jodie told RadioTimes.com: “I’m quite protective over it. It was a really beautiful thing, particularly the scenes in the TARDIS – they were really wonderful to shoot, because that was our last day.
“And so we shot those and then went and sat on top of the TARDIS and then shot in isolation, straight after that, the moment of regeneration.
“And I think those beats, even though, story-wise, they don’t run all together, for us, because that’s how we shot it, it felt like a beautiful progression within the dynamic and the relationship that they had. And I think also it’s just, never say never! We’ve got adventures to do.”
Meanwhile, Mandip joked that she was quite glad they didn’t kiss.
She quipped: “I’m not entirely sad [that there wasn’t a kiss] because Jodie doesn’t moisturise her lips!
“I don’t think of it as another version. That is the version. That’s where we left it. That’s how it happened.”
Jodie teased: “We could be [kissing] in the background.”
The ‘Thirteenth Doctor Adventures’ will be released from July 2025.
Announcing the news, Whittaker previously said she was “over the moon” to be returning to the role.
She said in a statement: “I’m over the moon to be joining Big Finish for more adventures in the TARDIS. Recording the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz is a really lovely thing to revisit.
“One of the things Mandip and I used to love on Doctor Who was getting in, doing a new episode and meeting a brand new cast.”

Kristina Rihanoff reacts to Zara McDermott’s ‘disturbing’ Strictly Come Dancing statement

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristina Rihanoff was “heartbroken” to read Zara McDermott’s statement about her time on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
Professional dancer Graziano Di Prima, 30, has been fired from the BBC One show amid reports of alleged misconduct relating to how he treated his 2023 partner Zara, 27, on the show last year.
Kristina – who was part of the show for eight years – has now reacted to the former ‘Love Island’ star’s statement during an appearance on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ on Wednesday (17.07.24), and she told host Lorraine Kelly that the reports are “disturbing”.
She said: “All of this is very distressing for a lot of Strictly fans to read and for someone who worked on the show for eight years, for me it is very disturbing and upsetting.”
Addressing Zara’s statement to the public, the dancer continued: “For me as a woman it was heartbreaking that she actually suffered so much stress and abuse. It is never ok in any shape or form that should be allowed and it’s just very sad that she had to leave it for a whole year.”
Kristina then discussed the recent measures announced by the BBC aimed at safeguarding the mental and physical well being of the celebrities, which include having a production team member present for rehearsals, as well as new roles for a celebrity welfare producer and professional dancer welfare producer, plus further training for the team and crew.
She said: “It’s never okay. It’s very sad… from my point of view, if you have cameras there, you do have a member of staff always there.
“My years on Strictly, we’ve always had a production crew filming every second of rehearsals and that was the case in all my eight years on the show.
“If the cameras are there all the time, you can’t get away from what is being filmed because there is evidence on the video and I think it should have been done like that previously.”
When asked if ‘Strictly’ had changed since her time on the show, Kristina acknowledged that the programme is “very different”.
She explained: “I think the show is very different right now and I also have to say that when I was hired for the show I had to go through a very strict process and I had experience in teaching.
“The professionals now might be good dancers but it isn’t the main job – the main job is to teach and teach that person in a way where they can progress on the show and that is the main job.”
Last weekend, Graziano confirmed he had departed ‘Strictly’.
He wrote on Instagram: “I deeply regret the events that led to my departure from Strictly. My intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime.
“Respecting the BBC HR process, I understand it’s best for the show that I step away.
“While there are aspects of this story involving external influences that I can’t discuss at this time, I remain committed to being strong for my family and friends.”
Zara has since told how she had a “very different” experience “inside the training room” compared to how it was working with her fellow contestants, and she claimed there are videos of “particular incidents, which are incredibly distressing to watch”.

Richard Hammond used Lego to help with recovery from near fatal car crash

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Hammond turned to playing with Lego to help him “focus” after his horror car crash.
The ‘Grand Tour’ presenter was involved in a near-fatal accident in 2006 when his jet-powered dragster – which was travelling at 319mph – spun off and toppled over while filming for ‘Top Gear’.
Speaking to his daughter Izzy on their ‘Who We Are Now’ podcast, Richard said: “When I was recovering in hospital from brain injury, the doctors recommended – oh, this is another one of your non-brands, it’s the ‘L’ word, Lego.
“I was sitting in bed, still pretty broken up and bad, but I could focus and lose myself in it.
“And the doctors all agreed and conceded that any activity that’s involving spatial awareness, three-dimensional thinking, two-dimensional thinking that you can lose yourself in was a good thing for me to do.”
His accident left him in a coma two weeks, though he luckily made a full recovery.
Richard and Izzy were joined by his co-star James May and Hornby Hobbies CEO Olly Raeburn for the discussion about how so-called “nerdy” hobbies can have great benefits for people’s mental health and wellbeing.
Olly said: “This idea of modelling as therapy is a very well understood and well-trodden path’ there’s been a number of studies on it.
“One done not that long ago by Model’s For Heroes with Brunel University, which showed that modelling activity and scale modelling for veterans and ex-serviceman was a really, really good way of giving them a sense of accomplishment, creativity, mindfulness, focus.”
James insisted he has is still baffled by the idea that people scorn pastimes like model making.
He argued: “We don’t say the same of people who, say, are obsessed with the theatre or film or cooking.
“These are also things I’m quite interested in, but nobody ever says, ‘Oh, that’s really sad.’
“But if you say, ‘I made an Airfix Spitfire,’ they think that must be something you do alone because you’ve got no friends.”
And Olly pointed out that there are “enormous communities” which have turned model building into a group activity.
‘Who We Are Now with Izzy and Richard Hammond’ is available to listen to now on Global Player, or wherever you get your podcasts

Seth Rogen provided ‘real sex noises’ for Sausage Party’s big climax scene

OHMYGOSSIP — Seth Rogen used “real sex noises” for ‘Sausage Party’s big climax scene.
The 42-year-old comedian – who wrote and starred in the 2016 adult animated movie – revealed he shocked the production team after he went into the booth and got a bit too carried away recording his moans for the movie’s mass-sex scene.
Speaking to CinemaBlend, he said: “I’ll tell you what. My first day recording, like, doing any sex noises, I was like, *grunts* I’m like, ‘You guys are hearing my real sex noises.’ I’m like, ‘Wow, that’s a real one. Sorry Guys.’ So I think mine are universal.”
Kristen Wiig, 50, wanted her character Brenda’s moans to be more “operatic” than her own.
She joked: “I feel like Brenda’s are a little more sing-song-y than mine. Operatic, yeah.”
The ‘Despicable Me’ actress and Seth are returning to the franchise for their new Amazon Prime show ‘Sausage Party: Foodtopia’, and the ‘Kung Fu Panda’ star revealed the team “always hoped” to make another entry into the series.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “We kept thinking about it, we kept making jokes about it; it was a thing we kind of never stopped talking about and never stopped enjoying the idea of.”
The ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’ filmmaker added he enjoyed making the next instalment of ‘Sausage Party’ a series rather than a movie because the shift to the small screen allowed him to take “much bigger swings” with its adult material.
He explained: “I think television is so different than when we made the first movie and it allows for so much more in a lot of ways.
“I think for especially things like this, we can take much bigger swings with the show than we probably could with a movie creatively in a lot of ways and we have a lot more freedom and money than we would have in a movie version of this.”
Although the show is now one of Amazon’s raunchiest properties, Seth emphasised the studio was “pretty OK” with the X-rated content in the series and compared their work to its other R-rated project ‘The Boys’.
Asked if there was any pushback to the programme’s mature scenes, Seth said: “If anything, they didn’t love how many food puns we were making, but other than that they were pretty ok with it. Amazon loves that. We’ve made them a lot of money with sex and violence.”

Diane Carson found Celebrity MasterChef more stressful than The Traitors

OHMYGOSSIP — Diane Carson found ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ more “stressful” than ‘The Traitors’.
The reality star, 63, has taken part in the new season of the BBC cooking competition but admitted she found it challenging.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “Being at the round table on ‘The Traitors’ was nerve-wracking. But doing a challenge on ‘MasterChef’ was even worse.
“In one of the challenges we were working with surprise ingredients and that really was so nerve-wracking.”
Speaking about her critiques from judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace, she said: “Any judgement as long as it’s fair, is fine. I met lovely people and had fun.”
Diane became a fan favourite earlier this year when she appeared on ‘The Traitors’, and her revelation that fellow contestant Ross was her son became one of the most talked-about moments.
During her time on the show, Ross shammed her cooking, saying she couldn’t cook a Sunday roast without “cremating” it.
But she believes her upcoming stint on ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ will finally prove him wrong.
She added: “I’m going to suggest the nation watches to decide if Ross was right.”
Before being confirmed for the ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ lineup, Diane said she would be up for a telly cooking show, saying: “I think it would be great to do Sunday Roasts at Diane’s House with celebrities.
“How good would that be! I’d have anybody round, that would be fine! And my roast dinners aren’t as bad as Ross says.”
A TV insider told The Sun: “Diana was one of the most popular people to take part in the show.
“’Traitors’ fans will be delighted she’s making an appearance in another BBC prime-time show, and will get the chance to prove she’s not the kitchen disaster her son claims she is.”
‘Celebrity MasterChef’ will air this summer on BBC One.

Eddie Murphy refused to include iconic banana gag in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F

OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie Murphy fought to keep a reference to the iconic banana exhaust pipe joke from ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ out of his new movie.
The 63-year-old actor was more than happy to reprise his role as Axel Murphy in ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’ but was disappointed to learn the production team wanted to include a reference to the scene from the original 1984 flick where his character foils pursuing police officers by putting a banana in their car’s exhaust pipe.
During a roundtable discussion with his co-stars for Netflix, the comedian said: “I fought to make sure there would be no banana in the tailpipe, up until the very last day of the movie.
“Whenever we hit a little speed bump, and we needed a joke or something, the director said, ‘How about the banana in the tailpipe?’, ‘No, no, we can’t do it.’ ‘You know, but the people really want to see that.’
“I said “No, they don’t.”
While he found some of the production to be tricky, Eddie was very impressed with his co-star Kevin Bacon, who plays the baddie Captain Cade Grant in the action picture and hailed the Hollywood icon for making his character a “great villain”.
Speaking on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’, the ‘Coming to America’ star said: “He is the perfect villain. One of the things that makes ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ work is the first two ‘Beverly Hills Cops’ are really good, and the third one is a little soft. And it’s because we didn’t have a great villain.
“And now you’ve got this great villain in Kevin Bacon. I don’t know what it is about leading men who do villain roles, he’s got this great, great villain.”
The ‘Footloose’ star gushed that he ticked off working with Eddie from his bucket list, and shared how the actor was very attentive with his casemates.
He told People magazine: “He really watches the person that he is working with.
“I’d noticed that he will pick up on some little thing that the other person is doing or saying or whatever, and kind of put it back to them.
“It was great. I loved working with him.”

Stephen Mulhern’s In For A Penny taking a break

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Mulhern’s ‘In For A Penny’ has reportedly been shelved.
The 47-year-old presenter has hosted the game show – which was a spin-off from an ‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ segment – for six seasons but ITV are said to be planning to take a break from the show for the foreseeable future, though it could return eventually.
A source told TV Zone: “Whilst Stephen is busy filming other projects over the summer, In For A Penny continues to be a much loved format for ITV.
“So don’t put your pennies away just yet as the team could be popping up in your local town, to challenge even more members of the public to take part in their unique and madcap games in the future!”
The sixth series came to an end just a month ago, which saw Stephen play with contestants in Manchester, Leicester, Bristol, Bournemouth, Glasgow, Wigan, Milton Keynes and Luton before heading to Walt Disney World in Florida for the finale.
Stephen is also host of shows including ‘Catchphrase’, ‘Dancing On Ice’ – which he presents alongside Holly Willoughby – and ‘Deal Or No Deal?’ and he recently reflected on how much he enjoys his busy schedule
He told The Sun newspaper: “I fit it all in because I love it. David Jason once did an interview with Michael Parkinson, where he said, ‘It’s funny, the harder I work, the luckier I get,’ and that’s how I feel.
“‘Deal Or No Deal; is like the cherry on top of the cake. It’s my favourite.
“I get to talk to people and hear their stories and work with them for a large amount of time. And then they get that moment to win a large amount of money.”

Russo Brothers returning to Marvel Studios for Avengers sequels?

OHMYGOSSIP — The Russo Brothers are reportedly returning to Marvel Studios.
The sibling duo – directors Anthony and Joe – have previously enjoyed tremendous success in the superhero genre with movies including ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’, and they are said to have been brought back into the fold for the studio’s upcoming plans.
According to Deadline, the pair are in the very early stages of talks to direct the upcoming two ‘Avengers’ sequels after Shawn Levy declined to be part of the project due to his other work, including a new ‘Star Wars’ movie for LucasFilm.
The brothers recently insisted they don’t think superhero fatigue is to blame for the recent box office struggles of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films.
Joe Russo told GamesRadar+: “There’s a big generational divide about how you consume media.
“There’s a generation that’s used to appointment viewing and going to a theatre on a certain date to see something, but it’s ageing out. Meanwhile the new generation are, ‘I want it now, I want to process it now’, then moving onto the next thing, which they process whilst doing two other things at the same time.
“You know, it’s a very different moment in time than it’s ever been. And so I think everyone, including Marvel, is experiencing the same thing, this transition. And I think that really is probably what’s at play more than anything else.”
Anthony argued that “fatigue in general” is to blame for the disappointing box office performances and cites the criticism of Westerns to show that it is an “eternal complaint” in the movie industry.
He said: “The superhero fatigue question was around long before the work we were doing.
“So, it’s sort of an eternal complaint, like we always used to cite this back in our early days with superhero work.
“People used to complain about Westerns in the same way but they lasted for decades and decades and decades. They were continually reinvented and brought to new heights as they went on.”

‘We finally picked it back up!’ Charlize Theron issues Old Guard 2 update

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlize Theron has told fans ‘The Old Guard 2’ will be released “soon”.
The 48-year-old star has reassured supporters the sequel has “finally” been picked up again after delays, including Netflix going through “a lot of changes”.
Speaking at her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project Block Party, she told Variety: “We got kind of stuck in that and our post-production shut down, I think, five weeks into it.
“Netflix went through quite a changeover.
“They were going through a lot of changes, and I totally understand it.”
Theron is “really excited” about the upcoming movie, which wrapped filming around two years ago.
She added: “We finally picked it back up and I’m really excited about it.
“It’s really good. It’s a really important film to us.
“I only wanted to do it if we could make it amazing. I really love this movie.”
In June 2022, Uma Thurman and Henry Golding joined the cast of the superhero sequel, alongside returning cast members Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngo and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
The sequel will be helmed by Victoria Mahoney, after Gina Prince-Bythewood stepped down from the role.
Theron plays the lead role of warrior Andromache of Scythia, and the plot once again comes from Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez’s graphic novel series.
The first movie followed a team of immortal mercenaries on a revenge mission.
In 2020, Theron admitted she and other cast members were keen to make a sequel after the motion picture proved popular with audiences on the streaming service.
She said: “We’re still pushing this one out.
“Let’s have a little resting period, but just given the fact that all of us really want to do it, I’m sure when it’s the right time, we’ll start the conversation.”

‘I have never received ANY complaints!’ James Jordan hits back over resurfaced Strictly clip

OHMYGOSSIP — James Jordan has insisted he hasn’t ever received “any complaints” from any of his celebrity dance partners following the eight years he was on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, after a resurfaced clip from 2006 sparked backlash.
The 46-year-old ballroom dancer – who was a pro on ‘Strictly’ from 2006 to 2013 – has hit back after footage of him on spin-off show ‘It Takes Two’, in which he called his 2006 celebrity partner Georgina Bouzova “lazy cow” and “fat belly”, resurfaced in recent days.
But James has claimed the footage was “edited together” to be broadcast on ‘It Takes Two’ “for the purposes of entertainment”, and insisted producers loved to paint him as “the bad guy”, and he “played along”.
He wrote on Instagram: “For those of you who have seen the edited BBC VT of me training with Georgina 18 years ago – yes I had hair once!!
But I just wanted to reassure you that footage was shot and edited together by the BBC team for transmission on It Takes Two 18 years ago in specific ways for the purposes of ENTERTAINMENT. Many of the clips were not related to Georgina at all (they are not allowed to do that these days as it misrepresents what actually happened) but were included for the purpose of exaggeration. The BBC thought it would be fun to put this VT together in the way they did. You can see Georgina laughing about it in the studio and in the clips… And I have never received ANY complaints from any of my celebrity dance partners in the 8 years I was on the show. Obviously if I had genuinely upset anyone, that footage would NEVER have been allowed to be used in that way by the BBC themselves. The Producers loved to paint me as the bad guy and I played along…always a perfectionist …but I would never have deliberately upset anyone and pride myself on good friendships with my celebrity dance partners. I strongly suggest that nobody attempts to link this edited BBC VT with the current alleged reports of abusive behaviour taking place behind the scenes by other Strictly professionals. There is no comparison to be drawn between those awful allegations and the highly produced and exaggerated VT from the BBC archives that is featuring on social media. To be clear, I deplore bullying or abusiveness in the workplace.
Big love to all of you
James (sic)”
James’ comments come after Graziano Di Prima was axed by the BBC Latin and ballroom show last week amid reports of alleged misconduct relating to how he treated his 2023 dance partner Zara McDermott, while fellow pro dancer Giovanni Pernice will also not be returning to the programme amid allegations about his treatment of some of his celebrity dance partners.
Earlier this week, Zara told how she had “wrestled with the fear of opening up” about her experience on the programme, insisting she had a “very different” experience “inside the training room” compared to how it was working with her fellow contestants.
Zara also claimed there are videos of “particular incidents, which are incredibly distressing to watch”.
Last weekend, Graziano confirmed he had departed ‘Strictly’, writing on Instagram: “I deeply regret the events that led to my departure from Strictly. My intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime.
“Respecting the BBC HR process, I understand it’s best for the show that I step away.
“While there are aspects of this story involving external influences that I can’t discuss at this time, I remain committed to being strong for my family and friends.
“I wish the Strictly family and the BBC nothing but success in the future. I also want to thank everyone who has supported my career, both professionally and personally. When the time is right, I will share my story.”
A BBC spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Graziano Di Prima is no longer a part of the line-up of professional dancers for the upcoming series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
“While we would never comment on individual cases, it is well-known that the BBC has established robust duty of care procedures, and if issues are raised we will always take them seriously and act swiftly as appropriate.”

Minions heading back to cinemas with third film in 2027

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Minions’ are heading back to screens in 2027.
A third film in the blockbuster Illumination animation prequel series is slated to hit cinemas on June 30, 2027.
Pierre Coffin, voice of the Minions, will direct.
2022’s ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru’ took $940.7 million.
It comes after sister franchise ‘Despicable Me 4’ grossed $157.3 million in the United States and Canada, and $112.1 million elsewhere, bringing its total to $269.3 million, as of July 10.
The film saw Will Ferrell take on the role of Maxime Le Mal with Steve Carell returning as Felonious Gru and Kristen Wiig back as Lucy Wilde.
Joey King played Poppy Prescott and Sofia Vergara voiced Valentina, Maxime’s femme fatale girlfriend.
Chris Renaud wanted Will to voice the villain because he is a “wonderful character creator”.
The director – who returned to the franchise having previously had the reins on the 2010 original movie and its 2013 sequel – had “always wanted” to work with the ‘Blades of Glory’ star and admitted the team enjoy casting people with a ‘Saturday Night Live’ background because they are so quick at coming up with ideas for their alter egos.
Asked why Will was cast as Maxime Le Mal, he recently told The Hollywood Reporter: “For me, personally, I’ve always wanted to work with him. I am a huge fan of his work and his character work.
“It’s not a mistake that we look at ‘Saturday Night Live’ people all the time — Chloe Fineman has a part in the film — because they’re wonderful character creators, and they’re able to create a character with very little time.
“Who’s better at that than Will? He came in with that great French accent.”
Early ideas for the movie just had a “nondescript” and “threatening” presence looming over Gru and his family, rather than a specific villain.
Chris said: “This one started really with the family problem, which was about leaving their beloved home behind and going to a witness relocation program, essentially.
“Originally, the villain was just a big threatening, dangerous presence and more nondescript than where we landed with Maxime Le Mal.”
A satirical promo for the movie saw Steve set out a lengthy list of upcoming movies in the franchise, and Chris admitted a number of people thought the fake titles were real.
He laughed: “That’s the wonderful marketing team that supports our movies, and they’ve done a terrific job on this one. I actually have gotten questions about that one. I think people think it’s real and that we’re actually planning that.”
But the filmmaker admitted there always “conversations” about potential spin-offs.
He said: “There are always conversations like that, and what we can do and where we can go with the characters.
“Nothing specific at the moment, particularly since I just finished this one, but there are always those conversations on, where else can they go and what changes can we make? How can we keep it exciting and fresh? We’ll see what happens.”

Jenna Coleman reveals why she avoided detective roles – until now

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenna Coleman avoided detective roles – until now – because she feels the star just becomes a “vehicle with which to turn the cogs of the story.”
The former ‘Doctor Who’ star made an exception to her rule of not playing a detective to star as the inexperienced Ember Manning in the four-part BBC series, ‘The Jetty’, created by ‘Harlots’ writer Cat Jones and directed by ‘Young and Wild’ filmmaker Marialy Rivas.
She is quoted by OK! as saying: “My reluctance in the past, as much as I love detective thrillers, has been where you become a vehicle with which to turn the cogs of the story.”
On the emotional pull the role had, she continued: “Whereas for me, I felt I knew who Ember was as a human from the first page. It felt like a human and emotional story as much as a detective thriller – the two co-exist together. That completely hooked me, and also, the beauty, the themes, the waters of conscious trauma, blurred boundaries, memories. It felt so dense and rich.”
The action will unfold around a fire that tears through a holiday home in a scenic Lancashire lake town. Manning must work out how it connects to a podcast journalist investigating a missing persons cold case and an illicit ‘love’ triangle between a man in his twenties and two underage girls, but the truth threatens to destroy her own life and make her re-evaluate everything she thought she knew about her hometown.
Jenna said: “The Jetty asks probing questions about identity, sexual boundaries, sexual politics and the awakening of oneself.”
She added: “She’s investigating a case which becomes very personal to her.
“It’s a very character, human and relationship-driven drama that’s wrapped up as a detective thriller.”
Upon the announcement of the series, the 38-year-old actress said: “I’m delighted to be returning to the BBC to be a part of The Jetty, with Firebird Pictures at the helm, bringing the story of Ember Manning to life. I look forward to exploring Cat Jones’ darkly probing scripts, alongside Marialy Rivas’ eloquent vision.”
Writer and creator Cat admitted she was “thrilled” to be bringing her story to the BBC.
She said: “I’m thrilled to be making ‘The Jetty’ for BBC One. Like millions of people all over the world, I’ve grown up loving and admiring BBC dramas, so getting to create one really is a dream come true. ‘The Jetty’ is a story I’ve wanted to tell for a long time, but it wasn’t until it found its champions at the fantastically writer friendly Firebird, that it really came to life. What feels like a total dream team continues to grow with the addition of Marialy Rivas to direct and the brilliant Jenna Coleman. I’ve no doubt audiences are going to be completely transfixed by her as Ember.”
The series’ executive producer Elizabeth Kilgarriff dubbed the show “provocative” and “deliciously surprising”.
‘The Jetty’ airs Monday July 15 at 9pm on BBC One, or stream the whole series from 6am on BBC iPlayer.

Jonathan Ross in talks for The Traitors

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Ross is in talks for the celebrity version of ‘The Traitors’.
The ‘Masked Singer’ judge recently teased he was trying to make space in his schedule for a “reality type thing”, and it has now been reported he is seen as the perfect choice for the highly-anticipated star-studded edition of the BBC competition show.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Jonathan is the ideal target for ‘The Traitors’ producers because he’s a high-profile celebrity who doesn’t regularly appear on the reality TV circuit.
“He’s also one of a small army of stars who are self-confessed fans of the show.”
The 63-year-old broadcaster had teased his reality TV plans while discussing his upcoming plans for the year.
Appearing on ‘The Therapy Crouch’ podcast, he said: “I’m still doing the talk show [‘The Jonathan Ross Show’]. That’s coming back next year. I’m doing ‘Masked Singer’ again this year.
“I might be doing a reality type thing if I can get all the dates to work, which is quite a fun thing.”
When host Peter Crouch asked if he will be boarding a plane and heading Down Under, he said: “No, not the jungle. I wouldn’t go in the jungle. I wouldn’t want to eat that stuff. And I wouldn’t… I’d just get bored.”
He then spilled that he has a fear of heights, adding: “I tell you what I wouldn’t like on that, the height thing when they make you walk out of that thing in the beginning. But I just don’t think it would be a fun thing to do. When you get older, you do have to factor in, you know, what do I actually want to do with my time?”
Jonathan previously ruled out a return to presenting at the BBC after he was suspended for 12 weeks without pay by the broadcaster in 2008, after a series of lewd answerphone messages left for actor Andrew Sachs about his granddaughter Georgina Baillie were aired on BBC Radio 2’s ‘The Russell Brand Show’ without consent.
He told Digital Spy: “I’m very happy at ITV. I’m an ITV person. I have no problem with the BBC, but I have no intention of going back there to host shows.”

It was unbelievably valuable to me not only as a new mom and learning how to more deeply care for myself but also potentially learning how to give that care to others.”
In a question-and-answer session with fans on the platform, Rumer hinted she may explore more career options and could potentially train as a midwife.
When asked what is next for her career, Rumer replied: “Music, movies, midwifery.”

Jimmy Carr declares he’s not a big enough ‘idiot’ to compete in his new escape room game show

OHMYGOSSIP — Jimmy Carr has declared he’s not enough of an “idiot” to compete in his new escape room game show.
The comic, 51, will front new UKTV series ‘Battle In The Box’, which will see contestants including Joe Swash, Katherine Ryan, Guz Khan and Jamie Laing play gruelling games in a battle for more breathing room.
Jimmy told The Post newspaper about how there was no chance he would have signed up to join them: “When I was offered the show, I initially said: ‘No. That sounds like a nightmare’.
“But it turned out they wanted me to host. I said: ‘Of course I’ll host. I’m just not going in there. I’m not an idiot’.
“Some offence to our contestants. What were they thinking?”
When asked what he found appealing about locking celebrities in a box and making them obey his instructions Jimmy joked: “That’s a question which is very difficult to answer without incriminating myself.”
The first two episodes of the show, which starts on Tuesday (16.07.24) will see comedians Lara Ricote and Harriet Kemsley compete against Joe Swash and comedian Seann Walsh – while the third and fourth will see comedians Josh Jones and Fatiha El-Ghorri take on Ryan and ‘Friday Night Dinner’ actor Tom Rosenthal.
When Jimmy was told the show’s premise sounded like a George Orwell-style Big Brother nightmare he said: “Well, it’s a nightmare for everyone apart from Big Brother – he’s having a great time.
“And in ‘Battle in the Box’ I get to be Big Brother.
“There are shows that you watch for relaxation, where you see nice people doing lovely things, shows like ‘Bake Off’.
“‘Battle in the Box; scratches a very different itch. Going into the box everyone has a game plan, until they’re hungry, sleep deprived and driven to distraction – which is when the good bits happen!
“Never mind going into a box, try and not look at your phone for 24 hours and see how you do.
“I’d defy anyone to not get quite irritable. I’d argue if you don’t use your phone for 24 hours it would feel like the walls are closing in, even if they’re not.”

Simon Cowell thinks music industry is in crisis due to social media

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell believes social media is killing the quality of the music industry.
The 64-year-old entertainment mogul is currently searching for the next One Direction as a part of his new Netflix documentary ‘The Midas Touch’, though has reportedly been left disappointed with the less-than-stellar turnout of contestants.
Reflecting on the state of the music industry, the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge hit out at social media for allowing wannabe artists to by-pass traditional records labels and make it big.
He told Greatest Hits Radio: “The reality is that every day something like 200,000 songs are uploaded [to social media] so weirdly less people are getting signed, and less people are breaking worldwide.
“It’s the worst I’ve ever known it since I’ve been in the music business.”
Simon – who formed One Direction in 2010 after the five aspiring singers Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne appeared on ‘The X Factor’ – emphasised there was still a hunger for boybands, and argued the group would have “the biggest ticket sale in history” if they ever reformed.
He explained: “Those records have really stood the test of time they still really, really sound great.
“Imagine if they did reform and their tickets went on sale? They would have the biggest ticket sale in history, I genuinely believe that.
“I don’t know whether that’s going to happen or not so I’m going to find the next generation.”
Previously, a source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column Netflix had slashed two of the audition dates in Newcastle for ‘The Midas Touch’, meaning the number of try-out sessions had been reduced from nine to seven.
Representatives for Simon told the publication that the dates hadn’t been axed as such, because venues simply hadn’t been booked in Newcastle.
Instead, they said the changes were made due to their “travel schedule”.
