‘It feels like art imitating life!’ Casualty’s Charles Venn becomes a grandfather

OHMYGOSSIP — Charles Venn feels like “art is imitating life” after he became a grandfather in real life, and in ‘Casualty’.
The 51-year-old star’s character Jacob Masters recently became the legal guardian of his grandchild, after Jacob’s son Blake (Kai Thorne) abandoned his child, and Charles is also now a gramps.
He told OK! magazine: “I recently became a grandad myself in real life, so the timing feels like art imitating life!
“Jacob is definitely the most fulfilling character I’ve ever played and I’ve grown as an actor with him.
“He’s gone through so many challenges in his nine, almost 10, years at ‘Holby’ and there are still many things unexplored with him.
“Although [laughing] when I started in 2015 I had a lot less grey hair!”
Blake left baby Carter outside the A and E, department and has not been seen since.
Charles admitted that while his alter-ego found it difficult to suddenly take on a full-time grandparent role, he had no choice.
He added: “Of course Jacob takes on the role of guardian, as difficult as that is to do.
“But it’s better than Carter being taken into care. So Jacob’s having to juggle looking after him along with his job – luckily he’s got lovely Jan [Di Botcher] to help him, otherwise there would be no way he could do that.
“In the midst of that, he’s looking for Blake. As a father, the thought of my son out there and I don’t know where he is, it’s not right. Blake has a history with narcotics too, so it’s stressful.”

Josh Widdicombe awarded honorary degree

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Widdicombe has been awarded an honorary degree from the University of Exeter.
The 41-year-old comedian – best known for his stint on ‘The Last Leg’ and his BBC Three sitcom ‘Josh’ – grew up in Devon before going on to study sociology and linguistics at the University of Manchester, and he was delighted to be recognised in his home county.
Speaking at the ceremony on Monday (15.07.24), he said: “This is a genuine, huge honour. When they got in touch with me about this I was thrilled.
“I would like to begin by thanking everyone at Exeter University for what we all know is an undeserved honour.
“I’m genuinely humbled, particularly because I didn’t even go to this university.”
Josh has offered graduates advice, and warned them: “Life isn’t a straight path.”
The comedian said: “Your 20s are meant for experimenting.
“When I left university, I was kind of panicked.
“What am I going to do? What am I going to do next? It’s not a race.
“If you don’t know, you will find out, there is no rush about this at all. I spent years at Waterstones.
“I worked at a petrol station … some of those things I didn’t think were a good use of my time, but life isn’t a straight path.”
He also advised new graduates not to take themselves too seriously.
The TV star said: “We are all idiots muddling through. That is what nobody tells you.
“Nobody believes really that they know what they are doing.
“Life is absurd, embrace it. Laugh at yourself. Fun and play produces the best work.
“It gives you confidence to try things you wouldn’t and to go to places you would be otherwise too scared to go to.
“All the best art, music and writing comes from places of excitement and childish play. Do not lose that.”

Twisters actor Stephen Oyoung signs on to Mission: Impossible 8

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Oyoung has joined the next ‘Mission: Impossible’ film.
The 39-year-old actor – who can currently be seen in ‘Twisters’ with Glen Powell – will appear in the upcoming action flick alongside Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby and Ving Rhames.
Oyoung is the latest star to land a role in the picture – which will be helmed by ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’ filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie – with previous additions to the ensemble cast including Hannah Waddingham, Nick Offerman, Holt McCallany, Katy O’Brian and Shea Whigham.
Whigham, 55, will be reprising his role as Jasper Briggs in the film, and revealed he had urged director McQuarrie to write a scene with his character and Cruise’s Ethan Hunt.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he said: “I said to Christopher McQuarrie on [‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’], ‘I don’t want a bigger trailer. I don’t want more money. I don’t want better catering. I just want one scene between Tom and I, where you, McQ, write it like ‘The Usual Suspects’, and we get a chance to get in there.’ And he delivered.”
The ‘Boardwalk Empire’ star was invited to dinner by the Hollywood icon after they had worked on the scene, and Cruise admitted production was far from complete.
Whigham explained: “We did this scene between Tom and myself, and then Tom said, ‘We’re going to go out to dinner.’ So we went out to dinner when I was done, and then Tom said, ‘Do you realise that we come out one year from today? And it’s going to be a sprint to finish the thing.’
“What he’s doing now, people are going to be floored. He wants to make this one like an adventure film, and he and McQuarrie have an idea of what they want to do with it. So it’s going to be amazing.”
The movie – which is filming at the moment – was initially slated to hit cinemas in June 2024, though was delayed until May 2025 due to last year’s SAG-AFTA strikes, which saw actors walk out of their jobs in an effort to boost their pay and rights with industry studios.

Deadpool and Wolverine is ‘the most wholesome R-rated film anybody can ever see’, says Kevin Feige

OHMYGOSSIP — Marvel boss Kevin Feige has called ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ “the most wholesome R-rated film that anybody can ever see”.
While the movie – which sees Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprise their respective superhero roles and join the Marvel Cinematic Universe – liberally throws around plenty of foul language and includes smatterings of gory violence, the studio higher-up has insisted the picture has a “sweet” core to it because it is “a celebration of friendship and family”.
Speaking to Deadline, Feige said: “I think it gets a lot of attention that this is our first R-rated movie, but it is the third R-rated ‘Deadpool’ movie, so we wanted to stay true to what Ryan has built over those last couple of movies and we weren’t going to undo that.
“I will say — Hugh and Ryan have talked about this — and I think people can tell from the trailer and from the press tour so far, yes, it’s R-rated, yes there’s some language and blood, but the film is incredibly emotional.
“I keep calling it the most wholesome R-rated film that anybody can ever see. ”
He continued: “It really is a celebration of friendship and family and of found family. I don’t want to overdo it, but for all the R-rated raunchiness that gets attention, when people see the movie, it’s going to be about how heartfelt it is — in my opinion, much more than the first two ‘Deadpool’ films.
“That’s what I’m really excited about, once people get past the ‘F’ words and the R-rating, to see how sweet it is.”
Feige was also quizzed on the decline of cinema attendance, with ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ being the most recent example of the industry struggling after it flopped at the box office, and revealed he hoped their upcoming flick would help revive the blockbuster experience by reminding movie-goers the studio “can provide the best entertainment in the world”.
He explained: “I think the experience that it’s going to give to people and hopefully encourage people to go see it again and again, that’s our job. That’s our job at Marvel, that’s our job as the 100-year old Hollywood industry — to remind people that we have the best storytellers and can provide the best entertainment in the world.
“As we keep doing that in ways that engage, excite and grab onto the imagination and the psyche of the audience, that’s all we ever wanted to do, that’s all we tried to do. I think we have to keep evolving and expanding the ways we do that.”

Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung says James Gunn ‘lucked out’ casting David Corenswet as Superman

OHMYGOSSIP — Lee Isaac Chung thinks DC Studios boss James Gunn “lucked out” when he cast David Corenswet as Superman.
The 45-year-old filmmaker worked with the actor, 31, on his newly-released disaster flick ‘Twisters’, and has now said he knows David is “going to kill it” as the iconic superhero in the upcoming eponymous DC Universe picture.
During an appearance on the ‘Inside Total Film’ podcast, he explained: “So, David was going out for that role when we were filming. I remember, we were all really secretly rooting for him. When we found out he was on a shortlist, a lot of us were saying, ‘You know, he actually would be a great Superman.’
“He is such an imposing and big presence and larger than life – but there’s this genuine purity to him, in a weird way, that I feel fits in a lot with Superman.
“I remember when he came back from doing auditions in LA, he came back to set, and he was still carrying that Superman to us. He’s someone who stays within the role a little bit.
“I’m not saying he’s method, but he kind of takes on that aura a little bit.”
As well as David, ‘Superman’ – which was initially titled ‘Superman: Legacy’ – will star Nicholas Hoult as the hero’s arch-enemy Lex Luthor.
The 34-year-old actor revealed he has been hitting the gym to ensure his character looks and feels as menacing as he does in the comics.
During an appearance on the ‘Inside of You’ podcast, he said: “I have been working out. There’s that bit in ‘All-Star Superman’ [comic book] where he [Lex] talks about his muscles being real and hard work and all that. I kind of took that as a little bit of a fuel for the fire.”

Daisy Edgar-Jones says Twisters honours the original by using real tornado footage

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy Edgar-Jones believes ‘Twisters’ honours the original 1996 movie by incorporating real footage of storms and tornados.
The 26-year-old actress – who stars in the disaster flick alongside Glen Powell, 35, and Anthony Ramos, 32 – explained the new film acts as a spiritual successor to the first picture because camera crews braved the elements and filmed active tornadoes, much like the original.
Speaking to Comicbook.com, she said: “[We used] real footage of real tornadoes, which I think we had a B-roll crew who came and filmed actual tornadoes and actual extreme weather. And they did that in the original.”
Glenn added the production team wanted to “raise the bar on every level” with these real storms by utilising modern cinema equipment to create the “most real depiction of a tornado ever seen on the theatrical screen”.
The ‘Anyone but You’ actor explained: “Industrial Light and Magic, which did the post in this movie, took real footage, I mean, obviously in terms of this it’s sort of the next chapter of Twister and we have to kind of raise the bar on every level.
“With modern technology, with these cameras, you can get closer and closer and closer. But they used all real reference footage from these tornadoes. So I mean, what you’re seeing on screen is the most real depiction of a tornado ever seen on the theatrical screen.”
Aside from the visuals, Anthony added the new flick honoured the 1996 film by including a cameo of James Paxton, whose late father Bill starred in the original.
He shared: “You know, we got the Dorothy [tornado]. Bill Paxton, God rest his soul, his son James blessed us with a cameo in the film.
“So it was cool, just these little nuggets of the spirit of the first film.”
Recently, James revealed he found making ‘Twisters’ “emotional”, and admitted it took him a lot of time to “process” his feelings while he on set due to the series’ connection to his late father.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “It took me a little bit of time to process it, just given the context of my dad and his significance in the original and him not being here.
“It’s an emotional thing. It wasn’t something that I could really decide immediately. It took a little time just to process it, just the magnitude of it.”

Michael French returning to EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael French is returning to ‘EastEnders’.
The 61-year-old actor feels “honoured” to be returning to Albert Square as David Wicks for the first time in a decade and teased the womaniser will be stirring up a “lot of drama” during his brief return.
He said in a statement: “I feel honoured to be asked to reprise the role of David Wicks once again. It may only be a brief visit, but we know from his past that David never fails to create a lot of drama in a very short time.”
Soap bosses are delighted to have the “legendary” character back on screen in preparation for ‘EastEnders’ upcoming 40th anniversary.
Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: “David Wicks is undoubtedly one of EastEnders’ most beloved rogues, and we are thrilled to welcome the talented Michael French back to the legendary role as we lead up to the show’s 40th anniversary.
“David’s character was never shy of drama during his previous stints, and I can assure you this return will be no different.”
Michael played David – who is the son of the late Pat Butcher (Pam St. Clement) and Pete Beale (Peter Dean) from 1993 to 1996 before returning in 2012 and again from 2013 to 2014.
David’s most recent stint in Walford saw him reconnect with childhood sweetheart Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) – the mother of his daughter Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) – while she was battling breast cancer and they got engaged, but their wedding plans fell apart as their relationship broke down.
Michael’s return follows in the wake of Laurie Brett making a surprise comeback as Jane Beale, and the recent announcement that Tracy-Ann Oberman is to reprise her role as Chrissie Watts.

Viggo Mortensen reveals why he’s snubbed major Hollywood franchises after Lord of the Rings

OHMYGOSSIP — Viggo Mortensen hasn’t joined a major Hollywood franchise since ‘The Lord of the Rings’ because they’re “not usually that good”.
The 65-year-old actor played Aragorn in Peter Jackson’s epic film trilogy between 2001 and 2003, and he admitted that he’s open to any role as long as the character and story is a good fit for him.
He told Vanity Fair magazine: “That goes for franchises.
“If somebody came to me with X movie, the third part or the ninth part, and I thought it was a great character and I wanted to play that character and I thought I had something to contribute, I’d do it. I’m not against it.
“But they’re not usually that good. I mean, to me, they’re not usually that well-written. They’re kind of predictable. I mean, of course, there’s always the issue of if I run out of money.”
Mortensen insisted he is open to “any kind of genre” or budget for his projects, and he’s not motivated to take on a role just to work with a certain filmmaker.
He explained: “I don’t really look for or avoid any kind of genre or any size budget. I just look for interesting stories.
“It doesn’t matter to me what the genre is or what the budget is or who’s making them. I would never do a movie just because so-and-so is directing it.
“It has to be about the story. And if I think I’m right for the character, that always comes first.”
Fans have been wondering if Mortensen could reprise his role as Aragorn in ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt For Gollum’, which is being directed by Gollum actor Andy Serkis with Jackson returning as producer.
He told GQ UK magazine: “I don’t know exactly what the story is, I haven’t heard. Maybe I’ll hear about it eventually.
“I like playing that character. I learned a lot playing the character. I enjoyed it a lot.
“I would only do it if I was right for it in terms of, you know, the age I am now and so forth. I would only do it if I was right for the character. It would be silly to do it otherwise.”

Michael Mann offers update on Heat 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Mann plans to make the ‘Heat’ sequel later this year.
The 81-year-old filmmaker previously teased a sequel to the 1995 crime drama was in the works and he’s now offered an update to explain he is “deep into” writing the screenplay adaptation of his and Meg Gardiner’s ‘Heat 2’ novel and wants to start shooting either late 2024 or early 2025.
It has been rumoured that his ‘Ferrari’ star Adam Driver and ‘Dune’ actor Austin Butler will take on the roles played in the original movie by Robert De Niro and Val Kilmer, but Michael refused to be drawn on the speculation.
He simply told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: “I can’t talk about that.”
Michael confirmed last October that ‘Heat 2’ would be his next movie.
He told Deadline: “Yes. Meg Gardiner and myself wrote the novel ‘Heat 2’, which came out right when we were shooting ‘Ferrari’.
“It did very well. I plan to shoot that next.”
And at the time, he hinted Adam could be in line to play a young version of Neil McCauley, the character portrayed by De Niro in the original film.
He teased: “Perhaps. We don’t talk about that yet. Let me put it this way: Adam and I got along like a house on fire [on Ferrari].
“We have the same work ethic – which is pretty intense. We like each other, and we had a great time working together artistically.”
‘Heat 2’ is both a prequel and sequel to the crime classic, featuring McCauley, Chris Shiherlis (Kilmer) and Vincent Hannah (Al Pacino) in the years leading up to the saga.
The novel also explores what happens to the surviving characters in the following years.
For the prequel parts, readers are taken back to 1988 Chicago as McCauley, Shiherlis and their crew are taking scores on the West Coast, the US-Mexico border and Chicago.
While this is happening, Hanna is rising through the ranks at the Chicago Police Department as he tries to bring an ultraviolent group of home invaders to justice.

The Traitors bosses ‘planning perfume range’ based on murder mystery gameshow

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Traitors’ bosses are reportedly planning to release a special range of perfumes.
The BBC’s reality gameshow – which sees the Faithful contestants try to weed out the Traitors while avoiding getting ‘killed off’ by them – has proven to be a huge hit with viewers, and now the programme’s creators are keen to capitalise with fragrances aimed at men and women.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “It’s understandable that the creators of the programme want to make the most of the huge popularity of the show.
“And given the fanatic following it has, they’re bound to lap it up — then splash it on — when the fragrance goes on the market.”
Options for the perfumes could include a “devilish” scent to represent the Traitors, and a more “heavenly” one for the Faithfuls.
It’s said ‘The Traitors’ producers have trademarked the show’s name in the UK, and they’ll be able to work on a range of merchandise.
Filming has just finished for the upcoming third series with Claudia Winkleman at the helm ahead of its return to BBC One in January 2025.
And Deadline recently reported that the murdery mystery phenomenon – which experienced a staggering 300,000 applications to compete on the UK edition of the show and stay at the iconic Ardross Castle – is getting a celebrity edition after the success of the US star-studded version hosted by Alan Cumming.
This came after the programme’s boss Stephen Lambert told ‘The News Agents’ podcast that it was “obviously a possibility”.
It’s since been reported that ‘The Masked Singer’ judge and chat show host Jonathan Ross could be part of the spin-off after teasing he was trying to find space in his schedule for a “reality type thing”.
An insider has since told The Sun: “Jonathan is the ideal target for ‘The Traitors’ producers because he’s a high-profile celebrity who doesn’t regularly appear on the reality TV circuit.
“He’s also one of a small army of stars who are self-confessed fans of the show.”

Call The Midwife star Olly Rix ‘lands steamy new role’ in Casualty

OHMYGOSSIP — Olly Rix has reportedly landed a “steamy” new role on ‘Casualty’.
The ‘Call The Midwife’ first played Matthew Aylward in the BBC period drama in the tenth series, and it’s said he has been written out after the character left for New York earlier this year.
As reported by The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column, Olly is now set to play a surgeon on the long running hospital drama.
A source said: “He has already got viewers’ hot under the collar on ‘Call the Midwife’, but their pulses will be truly racing when they see Olly embrace the steamy new role.”
And while the cast and crew have already been on set working on the upcoming series, Olly’s first scenes won’t be airing until 2025.
The insider added: “Although filming on the new series has been going on for weeks now, fans of Olly will have to wait until next year before they get the chance to see him on ‘Casualty.’ ”
In October 2023, it was reported his character was being written out after getting married to Trixie Franklin (Helen George) in the last series.
A source told The Sun: “The news of Olly’s departure has left the cast and crew stunned and upset.
“They all thought he was a mainstay on the series after his prominent wedding scenes to Helen last season. Some feel it’s a bit unfair and he is well liked by everyone.
“It felt very out of the blue. There is concern now among the remaining cast about not wanting to upset production and people are keeping their heads down.”
‘Call the Midwife’ has run for 12 seasons and the BBC recently commissioned two more – meaning the show will remain on air until at least 2026.
Speaking at the time of the announcement earlier this year, creator/writer Heidi Thomas gushed: “I’m overjoyed by the news that the doors of Nonnatus House will be open for a few more years!
“‘Call the Midwife’ is the pride and joy of all who work on it, but it’s our fantastic, loyal audience that matters most. We are a family behind the scenes, on the screen, and in front of the telly, and I’m thrilled that we’re all heading into the 1970’s together.”

Emmerdale star Karen Blick doesn’t think Lydia Dingle got ‘justice’ in harrowing storyline

OHMYGOSSIP — Karen Blick doesn’t think Lydia Dingle got justice in her harrowing ‘Emmerdale’ storyline.
The ITV soap star’s character Lydia was sexually assaulted late last year by her old childhood friend Craig Reed (Ben Addis), who was killed by Kim Tate’s horse, and the actress has admitted the storyline was “quite authentic”.
She told RadioTimes.com: “No, I don’t think she she did [get justice].
“That’s quite authentic in terms of whether victims [and] survivors of that sort of crime do ever get justice. So she was frustrated.”
Karen admitted Lydia’s feelings in the aftermath of the assault were “complicated” because of her relationship to Craig.
She added: “It was complicated, because it was somebody she knew, somebody who she grew up with and… there was a part of it that wanted to protect him, in a complicated way.”
Last summer, Karen revealed she had turned to crystal healing therapy to help her cope with the dark storyline.
She was quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column at the time as saying: “I’ve got a lovely friend who’s a crystal healing therapist and she contacted me a couple of weeks before we started filming and said, ‘Can I help you? Can I help you look after your energy?’
“I’m really open-minded about things like this and I thought, ‘Well it can’t hurt. I’ll give it a go.’
“She gave me some crystals to carry around with me and to keep in my dressing room.”
Karen admitted she saw a benefit to the “useful ritual” when it came to dealing with the “negative” feelings around the storyline, while she also turned to other “healthy, productive” methods to help her cope, including hypnotherapy and yoga, and ensure she wasn’t taking her work home with her.
She added: “I was keen to find healthy, productive coping mechanisms. I made sure that I was in a good, strong, physical, psychological place in order to tackle this story.”

Third dancer ‘named as person of interest’ in Strictly Come Dancing investigation

OHMYGOSSIP — A third dancer has reportedly been identified as a “person of interest” in the investigation into ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The name of the male dancer – who is no longer part of the show – is said to have been given to lawyers Carter Ruck, which followers allegations made against Graziano Di Prima and Giovanni Pernice.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “A professional’s name has come up, alongside Giovanni and Graziano.
“He is no longer part of the show but he has been named as a person of interest. Conversations are ongoing and there are more people who need to be spoken to.”
A file is being put together to be given to the BBC as part of the investigation.
The insider added: “A dossier is being compiled which will be handed over to the BBC.
“What is becoming clear is that there appears to be a more widespread issue over the conduct of some of the professionals in training.
“And the more people who come forward, the clearer the picture is becoming.”
A Strictly spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: “We will always listen if people want to make us aware of something or raise it with us directly.”
Graziano was axed by the show last week amid reports of alleged misconduct relating to how he treated his 2023 dance partner Zara McDermott, while Giovanni will also not be returning to the programme amid allegations about his treatment of his celebrity dance partners.
Last weekend, Graziano confirmed he had departed ‘Strictly’.
He wrote on Instagram: “I deeply regret the events that led to my departure from Strictly. My intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime.
“Respecting the BBC HR process, I understand it’s best for the show that I step away.
“While there are aspects of this story involving external influences that I can’t discuss at this time, I remain committed to being strong for my family and friends.
“I wish the Strictly family and the BBC nothing but success in the future. I also want to thank everyone who has supported my career, both professionally and personally. When the time is right, I will share my story.”
Zara has since told how she had a “very different” experience “inside the training room” compared to how it was working with her fellow contestants, and she claimed there are videos of “particular incidents, which are incredibly distressing to watch”.
She wrote on Instagram: “I have wrestled with the fear of opening up – I was scared about public backlash, I was scared about my future, I was scared of victim shaming.
“But after a lot of conversations with those I love, I’ve gained the strength to face these fears, and when I was asked to speak to the BBC, I spoke candidly about my time on the show.”
The BBC didn’t discuss the allegations against Graziano, but said they were aware of their duty of care.
A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Graziano Di Prima is no longer a part of the line-up of professional dancers for the upcoming series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
“While we would never comment on individual cases, it is well-known that the BBC has established robust duty of care procedures, and if issues are raised we will always take them seriously and act swiftly as appropriate.”

Danny Dyer digs into ‘some weird stuff’ to cry on camera

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer has delved into “some weird s***” to make himself cry on camera.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor – who plays Lee in Ryan Sampson’s new comedy ‘Mr Bigstuff’ – has opened up about getting immersed in a character, and admitted he has “sometimes” channeled very real emotions during filming to help his performances.
Speaking on the ‘Dish from Waitrose’ podcast, he said: “If the writing and the text is good enough, then you f****** buy it and you believe what you’re saying.
“But sometimes you have to dig into some weird s*** to make you cry.”
The 46-year-old star admitted that can be difficult on a soap, where you might have “weeks of crying” during a tough storyline.
He added: “When you’re doing a soap, you have whole, you know, you have weeks of crying on end.
“And then you sort of have to go home and go, ‘Hello kids! How are you, all lovely?’ You know, you’re, you’re in a, you know, you’re a bit f***** in the nut from it, it’s like…
“So it depends how much you want to commit. You got to sell it. And so therefore, you know, what’s a few tears between friends? We all need a f****** good cry.”
Danny noted there are different approaches, with some people on Albert Square using what was nicknamed “the award stick” to look like they were crying.
He said: “It depends, it depends how you approach it, really. Some people, we’d have it on ‘EastEnders’, it were called ‘the award stick’.
“So you’d have a – there’s a stick that you get, it’s basically Vicks, and you put it in your eyes. And it creates tears and then you just pull a face. And I’m not saying who did that.”
Danny revealed he would often get upset after “knockbacks” as an actor trying to land roles.
Pointing out the importance of watching other performers, he said: “I think like all art, you watch stuff and you take stuff on, and then you try and nick stuff and use it slightly. I think that’s what art is really.
“But I think what gives you a career is your own identity and makes you different from everybody else.
“But there’s a lot of knockbacks, a lot of people saying, no, we don’t want you. You’re s****, he’s better. Which, you know… I just go home and sob my heart out.”

Madonna gives exciting biopic update

OHMYGOSSIP — Madonna is working on her biopic once again.
The 65-year-old Queen of Pop’s plans for a movie about her life were placed on hold last year but she’s now revealed she is currently writing a new draft script for the project, which will be titled ‘Who’s That Girl’ in a nod to the singer’s 1987 movie and song of the same name.
Madonna took to Instagram and posted a collection of photos of herself working on the script with the caption: “I Need A-lot of Bandz to make this ……….. OKAY. (Story of my life) (sic).”
The flick – which will be penned and directed by Madonna – was announced in 2020, and had actress Julia Garner in the starring role, with Deadline reporting the ‘Ozark’ star is still on board for the project.
Writers Diablo Cody and Erin Cressida Wilson were also brought on to help the ‘Like A Virgin’ hitmaker with the script and screenplay.
However, in January 2023, it was revealed the film had been paused indefinitely at Universal Pictures.
After the movie was shelved, Madonna went on her ‘Celebration Tour’ in October 2023 to mark four decades in the music industry, but reportedly resumed work on the project once she got back home in June in the hopes she could finalise the script with Universal.
An industry insider previously told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Madonna has only just finished her tour but in her mind it is on to the next project and fulfilling her dream of getting the biopic made.
“Julia is still her lead actress and they have remained in touch for the past year, talking through ideas. They are committed to creating some magic.”
The ‘Vogue’ chart-topper had explained she wanted to both direct and write the movie because she wanted complete control over the project.
She told Variety: “I’ve had an extraordinary life, I must make an extraordinary film.
“It was also a pre-emptive strike because a lot of people were trying to make movies about me. Mostly misogynistic men.
“So I put my foot in the door and said, ‘No one’s going to tell my story, but me.’”
