Meghan Markle 'picked' Prince Harry in 2015

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle wasn’t sure whether to pick Prince Harry or Prince William when asked to choose between the pair a year ago.
The ‘Suits’ actress is now dating the flame-haired royal but chuckled when asked back in October 2015 whether she preferred the 32-year-old or his old brother, 34.
When asked to choose between the siblings during a Periscope Q&A for HELLO! magazine in Canada, she shook her head and giggled before saying: “I don’t know.”
The 35-year-old beauty was then prompted by the reporter to go for Harry and she replied: “Harry? Sure.”
During the chat, Meghan also slammed social media abuse, which Harry also recently did when revealing his girlfriend had been targeted by trolls.
She said at the time: “If we treated ourselves as well as we treated our best friend, can you imagine? It would be so much better.”
Harry hit out at trolls who had targeted his girlfriend following speculation they were dating.
A statement released by Kensington Palace read: “His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public … the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.
“Prince Harry is worried about Ms Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game’. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game – it is her life and his.”

Prince Harry's girlfriend Meghan Markle didn't have 'time' to meet the Queen

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry’s girlfriend Meghan Markle didn’t have “time” to meet the Queen and Prince Charles during her visit to the UK.
The 35-year-old actress – who confirmed she was dating the 32-year-old royal last week – recently jetted over to England, and although a plan was supposedly in place for the ‘Suits’ star to meet with her beau’s grandparents her trip was cut short on Thursday (10.11.16) due to work commitments, which forced her to miss out on the family gathering and fly home to Toronto, Canada, immediately.
Speaking about the brunette beauty’s vacation and failure to meet the 90-year-old monarch to The Daily Express newspaper, an insider said: “It was only a mini-break because she’s got filming commitments.
“There’s been a lot of talk of her being introduced to the Queen and Prince Charles but there simply hasn’t been time.”
Although Meghan has only been living in Canada for a few years, she has been pleasantly surprised by how much she enjoys leaving there.
Speaking previously, the Los Angeles-born star said: “I’ve enjoyed living in Canada [where ‘Suits’ is filmed] for the past five years.”
Meanwhile Meghan – who divorced from Trevor Engelson in 2013 after two years of marriage – has revealed her mantra is to not follow something through until the end or drag something out unnecessarily if she doesn’t think it will last for a long time in the future.
Speaking previously about the motto’s she believes in, she said: “My mantra is, ‘Don’t give it five minutes if you’re not going to give it five years.’
“[And] there’s a great quote from the artist Georgia O’Keeffe that resonates with me: ‘ I have already settled it for myself so flattery and criticism go down the same drain, and I am quite free.”

Meghan Markle wanted to be the President of the United States as a child

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle wanted to be the American President when she was younger.
The 35-year-old ‘Suits’ star – who is rumoured to be dating Britain’s Prince Harry’ – has revealed prior to becoming an actress she had always imagined she would reside in the White House and be the ruler of the US or a calligrapher.
Speaking about her plans for the future when she was a child, she said: “As a kid I wanted to be either President of the United States or a news broadcaster.
“[But] I’ve enjoyed living in Canada [where ‘Suits’ is filmed] for the past five years.
“I’m also a trained calligrapher.
“I did all the cards and envelopes for Robin Thicke’s wedding! We’re losing the art of handwriting and it’s such a shame. There’s still something incredibly romantic and special about a guy writing to a girl and putting pen to paper rather than emailing it, whether his writing is chicken scratch or looks like a doctor’s note.”
And the brunette beauty has revealed she once reached out to the American politician Hillary Clinton, who was runner up to Donald Trump in this year’s Presidential election, because she had a complaint about what she believed was a sexist advert.
Meghan explained to The mail on Sunday’s Event magazine: “When I was 11, I saw this ad for dish soap powder that said: ‘Women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans.’ I was so angry. I couldn’t understand why it didn’t say men as well. My parents always told me if I believed something was wrong, I should try to fix it. So, I wrote to all sort of people including Hillary Clinton and the soap’s manufacturers Procter and Gamble, demanding they change it. It worked. They altered the wording from ‘women’ to ‘people’.”

And Catherine is allegedly planning to give the ‘Suits’ star advice on romancing a prince and on how to act around the royal family, including the Queen.

“At this time of year, formal acts of remembrance become a major part of our public life. Meghan Markle is in London

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle is staying with Prince Harry.
The 35-year-old actress was spotted shopping in London on Thursday (10.11.16) and is said to be staying with her 32-year-old boyfriend at Nottingham College, his home in royal residence Kensington Palace, where she was seen heading with two huge shopping bags from grocery store Whole Foods.
A source told the Daily Mail newspaper: “To come and go at a royal home is a very concrete sign that they have become extremely close.”
And it seems the ‘Suits’ star may be preparing to meet Harry’s family in the next few days, as his neighbours, brother Prince William and his wife Duchess Catherine, are currently in residence in London as William has official duties in the capital, while his father Prince Harry and stepmother Duchess Camilla are due to return to the city over the weekend as they fly back from Bahrain on Friday (11.11.16).
And the flame-haired royal’s grandparents, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, are also in London for the next few days.
It was revealed on Thursday Meghan had told producers she needed a week off filming ‘Suits’ in Toronto this week because she has “something important to do”.
Her visit to the prince comes after Harry slammed the online trolls that are attacking his American girlfriend, who lives in Toronto, Canada, and said he was “deeply disappointed” that he has not been able to protect her from the “wave of abuse and harassment” she has suffered since their romance was made public.
A statement released by Kensington Palace reads: “His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment.
Meghan’s relatives have also been bombarded with messages and questions after the news of their romance broke.
And the flame-haired royal also insisted he has “never been comfortable” with the curiosity around his love life.
In a statement, the spokesperson added: “Since he was young, Prince Harry has been very aware of the warmth that has been extended to him by members of the public. He feels lucky to have so many people supporting him and knows what a fortunate and privileged life he leads.
“He is also aware that there is significant curiosity about his private life. He has never been comfortable with this, but he has tried to develop a thick skin about the level of media interest that comes with it.”

Prince Harry to visit the Caribbean on Queen Elizabeth's behalf

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth has asked Prince Harry to tour the Caribbean on her behalf.
The 90-year-old monarch had been invited to mark the 35th anniversary of
the independence of Antigua and Barbuda the 50th anniversary of independence in Barbados and Guyana later this month, but as she no longer undertakes gruelling long-haul trips, her 32-year-old grandson will instead visit seven countries between November 20 and December 4.
The queen’s Assistant Private Secretary Samantha Cohen said: “The queen asked Prince Harry to visit the Caribbean on her behalf…
“As you know The queen does not undertake long-haul visits any more age 90.”
And it was confirmed there are currently “no plans” for the queen to mark the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation next year, despite speculation she would make the trip to Canada.
Ms. Cohen added: “We have said on the record that in her 90th year it is more difficult for her to travel.
“And there are no plans at the moment for The Queen to go to Canada.
“That’s not to say that Canada’s 150th anniversary won’t be marked in some way by her here.
“But she’s 90. It’s a long trip. It’s difficult. So there aren’t any plans for her to go at the moment.”
Harry had been chosen to go to the Caribbean because he “did very well” during the 2012 diamond jubilee tour, because of his availability and because he is young and able to cope with a gruelling multi-destination schedule.
Ms. Cohen added: “The Queen has always visited all her realms regularly…
“There is always an objective to visit all the realms wherever possible and Prince Harry will be representing the queen.
“The queen is passing on the visits she would ordinarily do.
“We have only a limited number of members of the royal family who can execute those visits.”
During his Caribbean tour, Harry will spend six nights on board Navy ship Royal Fleet Auxiliary Wave Knight – which is usually used in drugs raids or disaster relief – as he visits the Realms of Antigua & Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada and Barbados, as well as Guyana on behalf of the Foreign Office.
A likely highlight of his visit will be watching Rihanna perform at the Golden Anniversary Spectacular Mega Concert in Barbados on November 30.
The queen has only taken undertaken a handful of foreign visits since November 2013, when it was announced Buckingham Palace would be “reviewing” the amount of long-haul travel she undertook.
Her most recent overseas visit was to Malta last November.

Prince Philip hasn't had flu in years

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Philip hasn’t had flu “for 40 years”.
The 95-year-old prince joined his wife Queen Elizabeth on a tour of the Francis Crick Institute in London – a major biomedical research centre that aims to develop new ways of preventing, diagnosing and treating disease like cancer, HIV and malaria – and revealed his apparent immunity to the common viral infection.
Philip asked flu expert Dr. Yi Pu Lin if someone could develop immunity or resistance to flu, then said: “Why haven’t I had flu for the last 40 years?”
Dr. Lin, who is the assistant director of the new institute’s worldwide influenza centre, which helps determine the content of flu vaccines, later spoke of how it was entirely possible for the Duke of Edinburgh to have developed immunity to the bug.
She told reporters: “He said he was now 95 and he may previously been infected and now he has immunity, even with new viruses coming the immunity can be stimulated, so that’s possible.
“Different people have different immuno responses and for some people it’s probably easier to catch and for some people probably not that (easy).”
But she then explained it was possible Philip may have had a “sub-clinical infection”, meaning his immune system was able to fight off the virus without him ever showing symptoms or feeling unwell.
She added: “You don’t get symptoms but actually you’ve had a virus and your body’s fought with it and overcome it, so you don’t have problems and you don’t know you’ve had flu.”
She also told how environment is also a factor in people getting ill and so, unlike the public who “go to the Tube every day”, Philip is less likely to encounter the virus in his daily life.

Prince Harry stars in music video

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry appears in a new music video.
The 32-year-old royal stars in the promo footage for the WellChild Nurse and Families choir’s cover of Daniel Powter’s ‘Bad Day’, in which he is seen walking into a hospital with medical staff and chatting happily with young patients.
The video for the single, which also features Scouting for Girls and former ‘X Factor’ contestant Josh Daniel, shows the prince dressed casually as he visits the medical facility and aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by families in the UK caring for children and young people with serious illnesses and exceptional health needs.
Proceeds from the single, which is released on Thursday (10.11.16), will raise money for WellChild, a charity for seriously ill children and their families, of which Harry is patron.
The song was initially unveiled at the WellChild awards in London last month.
Also at the awards, Harry gave a prize to five-year-old Myzat Mugomba, who has had Spinal Muscular Atrophy type-2 since birth and breathes through a tracheostomy and was nominated for recognition by her full-time nurse, Laura Duffell.
The flame-haired prince gave a speech and said hearing about each of the nominee’s bravery reminded him how lucky the majority of us are that we have little wrong with us and said he was “inspired” by their “positivity”.
He said: “The stories we have heard tonight are moving beyond words.
“They remind us of the utter insignificance of our everyday worries. Yet, one of the things that always stands out is the positivity shown by those in the most difficult and testing circumstances.
“It is heartening to hear so many stories of happiness and hope, even through the dark times.”

Prince William's friends' fears

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William’s friends fear he is “drifting away”.
The 34-year-old royal and his wife Duchess Catherine – who have children Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, 18 months, together – surprised friends last week by not attending the wedding of one of the prince’s closest friends, Oliver Hicks, and Rose Kingscote in Somerset.
A source told the Daily Mail’s Sebastian Shakespeare: “It was a real surprise that William and Kate were not there.
“William does seem to be drifting away from his old friends.”
A number of William’s other friends, including Charlotte’s godfathers James Meade and Thomas Van Straubenzee, Guy Pelly, and Charlie Morshead, were among those in attendance and formed a guard of honour using rowing oars to greet Oliver – who became the youngest person to row solo from America to Britain in 2005 – and Rose as they left the church where they exchanged their vows.
This isn’t the first wedding missed by the royal couple.
Last year, Catherine’s name was on the seating plan at the reception for the wedding of William’s friends Bear Maclean and Daisy Dickson, but the prince arrived with his sister-in-law Pippa Middleton.
The prince is said to have gone to at least five weddings alone in the last few years.
William and Catherine attended “dozens” of weddings before their own nuptials in 2011, but in the two years that followed, the duchess didn’t go to any.
Oliver – a former student at Harrow School – previously explained he had met William several years ago through one of the prince’s Eton College classmates.
He said: “One of my best friends was at Eton. He is a great friend of Willy’s. We had holidays together, things like that.”

Queen Elizabeth artist was 'scared'

OHMYGOSSIP — An artist who has painted a portrait of Queen Elizabeth admitted it was “scary” being in the same room when she unveiled the work.
Colin Davidson’s artwork was seen by the 90-year-old monarch for the first time at a reception for peace process charity Co-Operation Ireland yesterday (08.11.16), but he feared she wouldn’t be a fan of the piece.
He told the BBC: “I sometimes wonder why I choose to be in the same room as the person whenever any of the portraits are unveiled.
“It’s a scary time.
“But, in some ways, whenever the painting is out of the studio it’s out of my hands.”
While the queen seemed to approve of Colin’s painting, he admits feeling a “weight” of importance upon him when he was creating the portrait.
He added: “Here’s someone who is perhaps the most famous face in the world and has been so for 63 years.
“I’m bringing everything that I know about painting to it.
“With anybody I paint, it’s a human being in their own right, but with this particular painting I was aware of the gravity and sheer importance and weight which comes with the person I was painting.”
The Northern Irish artist painted the portrait from a sitting at Buckingham Palace in May and as well as taking plenty of photographs, he made about 20 drawings of the queen.
He said: “The drawings tend for me to be really important because they capture what I felt.
“The camera just simply takes a frozen frame.
“The drawings are used for the likeness and the spirit of the time that we spent together.”

Camilla's 'inspiring' hospital visit

OHMYGOSSIP — Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, was “inspired” by the facilities at the first dedicated children’s hospital in the United Arab Emirates.
The 69-year-old royal visited the Al Jalila Children’s Speciality Hospital in Dubai yesterday (08.11.16) after arriving by helicopter, and she couldn’t believe just how great the services were.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper, Camilla said: “It is a very good facility, it is brilliant.”
Sheikh Mohammed ordered the hospital to be built in December 2008 as a gift to the UAE to celebrate his daughter Sheikha Al Jalila’s first birthday, and work commenced the following year.
Camilla took a tour of the medical facility and met up with some of the kids who were receiving treatment, including Noora Fahad Fayez Mubarak, 13, who has kidney failure.
The duchess told her: “What a lovely smile you have.”
The hospital has 200 beds, a heart centre, paediatric trauma centre, transplant unit and outpatient clinics among other areas.
There is also an impressive 375-seater auditorium for teaching and the facility treats more than 11,000 patients per year.
Camilla and husband Prince Charles are currently in the Gulf on an official jaunt on behalf of the British government.
They were joined by Sheikh Mohammed’s wife Princess Haya, 42.
