Prince Harry's family catch up

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry enjoyed a catch up with the man often referred to as his “second father” over Christmas.
The 32-year-old royal – who is currently dating ‘Suits’ actress Meghan Markle – was spotted having a few drinks with his close pal, former Army officer Mark Dyer, at Mark’s pub in London.
A source told MailOnline: “They had their heads down most of the time as if they really wanted to keep their chat private.
“They laughed and joked a bit, like they were old mates. Harry’s bodyguard was also on the table as they talked.
“When Harry left he thanked the bar staff and was very polite.”
Harry brought Meghan to the pub, the Sands End in South West London, during her last visit to London.
Mark was an equerry to Prince Charles at the time of the death of Princess Diana and Charles asked Mark to look out for Harry and his brother Prince William.
Since then, Mark has remained close to both Princes and was one of the guests at William’s wedding to Duchess Catherine.
Royal biographer Penny Junor previously wrote in her book ‘Prince Harry: Brother, Soldier, Son’: “Mark Dyer is incredibly good for him because he’s one of the few people who talks some sense into him at times.”

Victoria Beckham accused of breaching royal protocol

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham has been accused of breaching royal protocol by revealing that she is to receive an OBE.
The fashion designer will receive her award in Queen Elizabeth’s New Year’s Honours list, and the news was supposed to be kept a secret until it was announced by Buckingham Palace, but it has since leaked after Victoria informed family members.
Tory MP Andrew Bridgen told the Daily Mail: “Nominees are sworn to secrecy, so she has broken the first rule of being offered the honour. It would appear to be a breach of protocol and perhaps raises questions over her suitability that she has leaked her own nomination. This further discredits our honours system.”
And fellow Tory Peter Bone added: “It is certainly a betrayal of etiquette, it is just not done. It is just wrong and I don’t understand why anyone would leak something like that. To get an honour is extremely important and it might well be for a very good reason but you just don’t leak it. Full stop.”
Victoria – who was named a UN Goodwill Ambassador in 2014 – will receive her OBE for her charity work and contributions to fashion.
Victoria’s husband David Beckham received an OBE in 2003.

Abbey Clancy swapped sleep tips with Prince William

OHMYGOSSIP — Abbey Clancy shared parenting tips with Prince WiIlliam.
The 30-year-old model – who has children Sophia, five, and Liberty, 18, with husband Peter Crouch – has only just got her youngest daughter sleeping through the night, and she found the royal, who has kids Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, 19 months, with wife Duchess Catherine, understood her situation all too well.
She said: “William and I had a chat about babies who don’t sleep, we were sharing tips. Our kids are similar ages.”
William, 34, recently admitted he has “struggled” to adapt to being a married father of two, but insisted he adores his family situation.
He said: “It’s been quite a change for me personally. I’m very lucky in the support I have from Catherine, she’s an amazing mother and a fantastic wife.
“I’ve struggled at times. The alteration from being a single, independent man to going into marriage and then having children is life-changing.
“I adore my children very much, and I’ve learned a lot about myself and about family just from having my own children.”
Speaking about his children, he called George “a right little rascal”, adding, “he keeps me on my toes but he’s a sweet boy”.
And when asked about Charlotte, he said: “Bearing in mind I haven’t had a sister, so having a daughter is a very different dynamic. So I’m learning about having a daughter, having a girl in the family.”
He went on to add: “I would like [my kids] to grow up with simple aspirations. I think there’s a lot of huge aspirations and people living with an enormous amount of stuff that they don’t necessarily need.
“The materialism of the world – I find quite tricky sometimes.
“I would like George and Charlotte to grow up being a little bit more simple in their approach and their outlook, and just looking after those around them and treating others as they would like to be treated themselves.”

Prince William and Prince Harry's royal engagements

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William and Prince Harry undertook as many royal engagements as Queen Elizabeth over the past year.
Although the 90-year-old monarch is cutting back on her duties, she still carried out 80 days of engagements, the same amount as Prince William and just six less than Prince Harry.
William’s wife Catherine was behind all three with just 63 days, according to new information obtained from an analysis of the Daily Court Circular.
Princess Anne had 179 days of public engagements, while her brother Prince Charles had 139 days.
It was recently revealed that Prince Harry wants to step up his royal duties.
The 32-year-old royal proved to himself that he is capable of covering some of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth’s duties during his 15-day tour of the Caribbean on her behalf earlier this year and according to a senior royal aide, Harry wants to do more to help.
Harry’s aide said: “It’s a very different tour for him, doing a lot of things on behalf of the Queen with many more formal bits. But so far it has exceeded his expectations about what he thought was possible.
“He thinks he can do these more formal duties on behalf of the Queen while retaining an authenticity in his work meeting a wide range of people from leaders down to young people.”

High flyer Prince Harry

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry clocked up more air miles than any other senior British royal in 2016.
The 32-year-old Prince travelled 61,800 miles on public duties abroad over the past 12 months, taking in Florida, Nepal and the Caribbean.
His uncles Prince Edward and Prince Andrew were close behind with 61,400 miles and 58,200 miles respectively, while Harry’s aunt Princess Anne travelled 56,600 miles.
Harry’s brother William clocked up 43,700 miles, while William’s wife Duchess Catherine only managed 23,600 miles.
Meanwhile, Harry recently revealed he loves going to Africa – where he founded charity Sentebale, which helps children affected by Aids and HIV – because he likes to “escape” from normality and do “something constructive”.
He said: “For me, personally, it’s an escape. I have this love of Africa that will never disappear and I hope the love carries on for my children as well. For me I get a huge kick out of helping others.”
Harry – whose mother Princess Diana was killed in a car crash in 1997 – co-founded the Sentebale charity with Prince Seeiso, the brother of the King of Lesotho over a decade ago and revealed losing their mothers had helped them to bond.
He said: “There’s obviously a connection of some sort. The fact that we have both lost our mothers, at different ages and in very different circumstances. But, his mother stood for something and my mother stood for something as well. To a certain extent, there is a lot of unfinished business, a lot of unfinished work that my mother never completed.”

Prince William and Duchess Catherine moving back ton London?

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William and Duchess Catherine are reportedly moving back to London.
William, 34, is said to be considering quitting his job as a helicopter pilot in order to focus on being a full-time royal and the couple are planning to leave Anmer Hall in Norfolk for Kensington Palace, London.
They have enrolled their son, three-year-old Prince George, in the £6,500-a-term Wetherby School in London, the same pre-prep establishment William and his brother, Prince Harry, attended.
A source told the Daily Telegraph: “The Duke, in particular, has a lot of thinking to do over the Christmas and New Year period.
“He has his job as an Air Ambulance pilot, which he enjoys very much, but he also wants to take on more royal duties, as does the Duchess.
“Decisions about schooling and nurseries are all part of that.”
William and Catherine are said to be keen to take on more royal duties and are especially passionate about their mental health advocacy work.
The insider said: “They want to be in a position that when they are asked to do more, they are in a position to say yes.
“The Prince of Wales wants a slimmed-down monarchy and that will also have an effect in terms of the number of duties carried out by each of the core members.
“Also their ambition for their charitable side is increasing. The impact of the Heads Together mental health campaign, in particular, is making them want to be more active on the issues they care most about.”

Charming Prince William

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William is “charm personified”.
The 34-year-old royal – who has two children with wife Duchess Catherine – presented an MBE to consultant nurse Ann Scott from Northern Ireland and she was impressed by how down to earth he was.
She told Belfast Live: “The entire experience was fantastic; Prince William was very charming and informal and very much put you at your ease.
“He asked me about what it was like for people in Northern Ireland living with dementia and he also told me that he and Catherine both love Northern Ireland and were looking forward to come back again.
“I asked him about his children and he said they were at the age where they were into everything and bumping into everything and we just had a laugh about that.
“He was lovely, he was quite simply charm personified.”
Meanwhile, William recently admitted he has “struggled” to adapt to being a married father of two, but insisted he adores his family situation.
He said: “It’s been quite a change for me personally. I’m very lucky in the support I have from Catherine, she’s an amazing mother and a fantastic wife.

Queen Elizabeth wins ratings battle

OHMYGOSSIP — The Queen’s speech won the battle of the ratings on Christmas Day (25.12.16).
The 90-year-old monarch had 7.7 million viewers in the UK tuning in for her annual festive message, where she paid tribute to Team GB’s Olympic stars.
Queen Elizabeth’s speech was up from 7.5 million last year and beat off strong competition from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ with 7.2 million viewers, ‘The Great Christmas Bake Off’ with 6.3 million and ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ with 6.1 million.
The monarch – who missed church on Christmas Day due to a heavy cold – gave a heartfelt speech in which she spoke about being inspired by love.
She said: “There was a time when British Olympic medal winners became household names because there were so few of them. But the 67 medals at this year’s Games in Rio and 147 at the Paralympics meant that the GB medallists’ reception at Buckingham Palace was a crowded and happy event.
“Throughout the Commonwealth there were equally joyful celebrations. Grenada, the Bahamas, Jamaica and New Zealand won more medals per head of population than any other countries.
“Many of this year’s winners spoke of being inspired by athletes of previous generations. Inspiration fed their aspiration; and having discovered abilities they scarcely knew they had, these athletes are now inspiring others.
“A few months ago, I saw inspiration of a different kind when I opened the new Cambridge base of the East Anglian Air Ambulance, where Prince William works as a helicopter pilot. It was not hard to be moved by the dedication of the highly skilled doctors, paramedics and crew, who are called out on average five times a day.
“But to be inspirational you don’t have to save lives or win medals. I often draw strength from meeting ordinary people doing extraordinary things: volunteers, carers, community organisers and good neighbours; unsung heroes whose quiet dedication makes them special.
“The message of Christmas reminds us that inspiration is a gift to be given as well as received, and that love begins small but always grows.
“I wish you all a very happy Christmas.”

New claim that Queen Elizabeth backed Brexit

OHMYGOSSIP — It has been claimed that Queen Elizabeth backed Brexit.
Although the 90-year-old royal is “politically neutral”, BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg has alleged that the Queen told guests at a lunch some months ago that she wanted Britain to leave the European Union.
She claims the Queen said: “I don’t see why we can’t just get out. What’s the problem?” and Kuenssberg said she did not run the story when she first heard it as she could not find a second source.
Speaking on Radio 4’s ‘Today show, she said: “In a casual chat with one of my contacts, they said, ‘Do you know what? At some point this is going to come out, and I’m telling you now and I don’t know if the BBC would touch it, but the Queen told people at a private lunch that she thinks that we should leave the EU.’
“Apparently at this lunch, she said ‘I don’t see why we can’t just get out. What’s the problem?’
“My jaw hit the floor. Very sadly, I only had one source. I spent the next few days trying to prove it. I couldn’t find the evidence.
“Lo and behold, a couple of months later, someone else did. Of course, then ensued a huge row between that newspaper and the Palace over what had really been said or not said.”
The Sun newspaper ran the story nine months ago and Buckingham Palace replied by launching a complaint with the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO).
The palace said in a statement: “We can confirm that we have this morning written to the chairman of the Independent Press Standards Organisation to register a complaint about the front page story in today’s Sun newspaper.
“The complaint relates to Clause 1 of the Editors’ Code of Practice.”
Clause 1 in the code relates to accuracy and states: “The press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted information or images, including headlines not supported by the text.”

Zara and Mike Tindall lose their baby

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter Zara Tindall and her husband Mike have lost their baby.
The 35-year-old former Olympian and Mike, 38, were expecting their second child in the late spring, but a spokeswoman for the couple has confirmed the sad news.
She said: “Very sadly, Zara and Mike Tindall have lost their baby. At this difficult time, we ask that everyone respects their privacy.”
The spokeswoman declined to give any further details about the couple’s loss of their baby, while Buckingham Palace said it would not comment on the private matter.
The couple already have a two-year-old daughter called Mia, and they announced in November that they were expecting a baby, revealing they were “very, very happy”.
At the time, Mike wrote on Twitter: “Just a quick one to say thank you for the messages. We are very very happy about the little one on its way. 2017 is already starting well!! (sic)”
Zara and Mike – a member of England’s World Cup-winning rugby team in 2003 – have been married for five years.
Zara, who is the daughter of Princess Royal, does not hold a royal title, but she is among the most recognisable members of the family and even won a silver medal in equestrianism at the London 2012 Olympics.

Princess Eugenie caught up in racism row

OHMYGOSSIP — Britain’s Princess Eugenie has been caught up in a racism row.
The 26-year-old royal was made a patron of the Print Room last month, but the theatre has since been slammed for the use of white actors to play Chinese characters.
Andrew Keates, who is leading the protest, has written an open letter to the Print Room, blasting the theatre for endorsing the “racist, outdated and unnecessary practice of ‘yellowface’ and instead find actors who are appropriate”.
He told the Daily Mail newspaper: “As a representative of British East Asians in this country, I do not see how she could lend her name to a theatre that is not supporting racial equality, either actively or through ignorance.”
The protest has been backed by Equity, the trade union that represents actors and performers.
Christine Payne, Equity’s general secretary, said: “This casting clearly shows that the Print Room is not engaging with the industry-wide discussion on diversity.”
But the Print Room has defended itself in a statement, saying: “The production references a setting in Ancient China and the characters’ names are Chinese. These are literary allusions in Howard Barker’s fable and never intended to be taken literally.
“It is, in fact a very ‘English’ play and is derived from thoroughly English mores and simply references the mythic and the ancient. It has therefore been cast accordingly.”
Meanwhile, defenders of Princess Eugenie have rubbished criticism of the royal, pointing out that she has nothing to do with the specific details of particular productions at the theatre.

Prince Harry to visit Meghan Markle on Boxing Day

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry is reportedly planning to visit Meghan Markle on Boxing Day (26.12.16).
The 32-year-old royal and the 35-year-old ‘Suits’ actress will be spending some of the festive period together as the flame-haired royal has decided to miss the royal family’s traditional celebrations on December 26 at Sandringham to fly out to see the brunette beauty in Toronto, Canada.
Although it’s not confirmed if they will be together in London instead.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Harry is desperate to be with her as soon as possible.
“Normally he’d be with the rest of the family, but seeing as William is at the Middletons’ for Christmas it looks like he’s being allowed to break with tradition.”
However, Queen Elizabeth – Harry’s grandmother – is believed to have allowed him to miss the family’s arrangements as she knows how hard it must be for them to be apart.
The insider added: “The Queen has given her blessing to their relationship, so It’s obvious everybody understands just how much they’re missing each other and it looks like he’s been given the all-clear to up sticks and bypass normal Boxing Day traditions.”
It comes after reports the couple are set to spend New Year’s Eve with one another (31.12.16), but it’s not known if they will head to the ‘Suits’ star’s home in Toronto or spend the festive break in London.
According to the Daily Star newspaper, the pair may even decide to meet in the middle and head to Los Angeles to bring in 2017.

Prince Charles' star-studded bash

OHMYGOSSIP — Antonio Banderas partied with Prince Charles in Scotland this week.
The actor was among 50 guests who were invited to Charles’s Dumfries House near Cumnock, to thank supporters of his charities, with the entire event covered by Spain’s Hola! magazine, the Daily Mail reports.
Antonio’s partner Nicole Kimpel, Spanish models Nieves Alvarez and Paloma Cuevas and Cuevas’s bullfighter husband Enrique Ponce were also in attendance.
Meanwhile, earlier this week Prince Charles has spoken out against religious persecution and warned that rising intolerance risks repeating the “horrors” of the Holocaust.
Speaking during BBC Radio 4’s religious Thought for the Day segment, he said: “We are now seeing the rise of many populist groups across the world that are increasingly aggressive to those who adhere to a minority faith. All of this has deeply disturbing echoes of the dark days of the 1930s.
“My parents’ generation fought and died in a battle against intolerance, monstrous extremism and inhuman attempts to exterminate the Jewish population of Europe.
“That nearly 70 years later we should still be seeing such evil persecution is to me beyond all belief. We owe it to those who suffered and died so horribly not to repeat the horrors of the past.”
Prince Charles urged listeners to remember “how the story of the Nativity unfolds with the fleeing of the holy family to escape violent persecution”.
He added: “We might also remember that when the prophet Muhammad migrated from Mecca to Medina, he did so because he too was seeking the freedom for himself and his followers to worship.”

Chocoholic Queen Elizabeth

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth is a “major chocoholic”.
The 90-year-old monarch has a sweet tooth and loves to indulge in a calorific treat at Christmas time.
Darren McGrady, former chef to Queen Elizabeth, Diana Princess of Wales and Princes William and Harry, told Delish.com: “The queen is a major chocoholic, particularly dark chocolate, so she always has a chocolate treat on Christmas. She also loves mint.”
Darren also revealed that Christmas is the one time of the year when the monarch turns the tables on her staff.
He explained: “Right before the Christmas buffet, the senior chef on duty goes into the dining room and carves the rib roast or turkey or ham and once he’s done, Her Majesty presents the chef with a glass of whiskey and they toast. That’s the only time the chef goes into the dining room and has a glass of whiskey with the royal family. It’s one of the chef’s favourite traditions.”
And despite her wealth and station, the Queen prefers modest decorations at her Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, where she celebrates the festive season.
He said: “The Queen is not lavish, so the décor is minimal. The Royal Family has a large Christmas tree and a large silver artificial tree in the dining room, which is about 30 years old.”

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's festive helicopter trip

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip travelled to Sandringham by helicopter on Thursday (22.12.16).
The royal couple delayed departure for their Christmas holiday at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England because they were both suffering from heavy colds but were well enough to travel on Thursday.
However, while the Queen usually travels by train, they decided to make the journey shorter and take a helicopter.
A palace spokesperson said: “I can confirm that The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh have left Buckingham Palace and are traveling to Sandringham.”
The royals will be joined by members of their family, including Prince Harry, at their festive gathering in Norfolk.
However, his brother Prince William won’t be around this year as he and his wife Duchess Catherine have decided to take their children Prince George, three, and 19-month-old Princess Charlotte to her parents’ home in Berkshire.
Parenting expert Lisa Clegg believes the decision is based on a desire for the children to have an informal holiday season.
She told MailOnline: “The decision has been made out of a desire to put Charlotte and George first.
“If William and Kate can take a step back from Official Royal duties at certain times, in order to keep life as simple and normal as possible for George and Charlotte then that’s absolutely the right decision.
“The children are still very young and so won’t understand the restraints within certain obligations of the Royal family and to sit down and be quiet in particular situations.
“They are only little and need to be able to be children and get carried away with the excitement and fun of Christmas, without the world looking on them.
“For this reasons, it’s beneficial for them to be in a more relaxed environment.”

Prince Harry and William's close bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Previously unseen letters from Princess Diana describe the bond between Princes William and Harry.
A series of handwritten messages from Diana to Buckingham Palace Steward Cyril Dickman between 1984 until 1993, give an insight into life with the royal princes and also reveal that Harry was “constantly in trouble” at boarding school.
Describing her and Prince Charles’ reaction to Harry’s birth in 1994, she wrote: “The reaction to one tiny person’s birth has totally overwhelmed us and I can hardly breathe for the mass of flowers that are arriving here!!
Another note in 1984 reads: “William adores his little brother and spends the entire time swamping Harry with an endless supply of hugs and kisses, hardly letting the parents near!”
And a message from 1992 explains: “The boys are well and enjoying boarding school a lot, although Harry is constantly in trouble!”
Mr Dickman died aged 85 in 2012 and the letters have been put up for auction by his grandson.
Dylan Mander, a specialist at Cheffins’ auction house where the letters will go under the hammer, said: “Cyril’s grandson came in and said while he was going through everything he found all of these amazing letters from Princess Diana.
“The letters explained all different things – how Harry had been naughty at school and how Harry was adored by his brother who would not stop kissing him.
“It is incredibly rare to have letters from Princess Diana with such a personal touch to them.
“She would not have had friends in the sense we do so you could say Cyril Dickman was one of her closest friends.”
