The Duke of Cambridge is the new patron for the Metropolitan and City Police Orphans fund

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duke of Cambridge is the new patron for the Metropolitan and City Police Orphans fund.
The 34-year-old royal has been announced as the new benefactor of the charity, which was originally set up in 1870 and is the longest standing police charity, according to The Times newspaper.
Prince William’s role with the organisation will see him support the children of those who work for the Metropolitan Police and the City of London Police who have tragically passed away, and can no longer support their brood.
And William’s appointment comes 80 years after the orphanage was closed in 1937 and it was developed into the charity it is now.
The Chief executive officer at the Metropolitan Police, Peter Smyth, has admitted he is “delighted” to have the backing of William – who has three-year-old son Prince George and 20-month-old daughter Princess Charlotte with his wife the Duchess of Cambridge – and the royal has accepted the role as their new patron.
He said: “We are absolutely delighted that His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge has agreed to be our new patron.”
And Peter believes young children and officers will be “extremely pleased” at the news.
He continued: “I am sure the children we support and serving police officers will also be extremely pleased.”
Meanwhile, William’s wife Catherine has also been granted a patron and has received a lifetime honorary membership for the Royal Photographic Society, which promotes and supports those interested in the art form.

Queen Elizabeth using homeopathic cures to shake her cold

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth has been using homeopathic cures to shake her cold.
The 90-year-old royal was forced to miss a service at St. Mary Magdalene church in Sandringham on Sunday (01.01.17) as well as the traditional Christmas morning service in Norfolk due to illness, and it has been reported the monarch has been using a variety of remedies to help her get better.
According to the Mail Online, the Queen’s corgi, who is believed to be injured, has received the Queen’s assistance and is being nursed back to care, whilst Prince Philip – who was also struck with cold and flu symptoms over the weekend – has reportedly steered clear of the Queen’s home remedies in favour of more traditional medicines.
Although the Queen is feeling “better”, she is still recovering from her illness and Princess Anne has assured well-wishers that her mother is recovering.
The Queen’s absence at the event may have had alarm bells ringing for some people – as it was the first time in 30 years she was unable to attend the ceremony – but Buckingham Palace has admitted missing the church service was a “precautionary measure” and it was nothing to be overly worried about.
They said at the time: “[It was] a precautionary measure but there was no sense of undue concern”.
The news the royal couple had been attacked by the virus was first addressed two weeks ago and a few days before Christmas Day.
Speaking previously about their welfare, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace said: “The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have heavy colds, and so have decided not to travel to Sandringham today.”

Prince Harry and Prince William rule out Diana memorial concert

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry and Prince William have ruled out a concert to mark the 20th anniversary of their mother’s death.
For Princess Diana’s 10th anniversary in 2007, the royals held a fundraising concert at Wembley but 10 years later they are keen for a more low-key remembrance and hope that whatever they decide on will celebrate her charity work.
A source told the Daily Mail: “The princes have made clear that this will not be a ‘Royal Family’ event. They are very much in charge of everything as her sons and everyone, including their father, agrees that this is as it should be.
“There will be nothing on the scale of the memorial concert they held.
“That was a stepping out moment for them as public figures in their own right. Now they want to help people in what they are doing rather than create demand themselves.
“There is a whole generation now that were very young when she died and may not know about what she managed to achieve in such a short life.”
Diana was just 37 when she died in a car crash in Paris in 1997 and Harry, 32, recently admitted he buried his grief for a long time afterwards.
He said: “I never really dealt with what had happened. It was a lot of buried emotion. For a huge part of my life I didn’t really want to think about it.
“I now view life very differently from what it used to be. I used to bury my head in the sand, and let everything around you tear you to pieces.”
Harry set up the charity Sentebale in memory of his late mother and said: “Now, I can see exactly where I want to take it. The fact that I’ve managed to keep Sentebale going … for the last 10/11 years has been fantastic because now everything else I’m involved with makes sense to me and I’m just getting started.
