Prince Harry praises Danish Invictus Games team

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry has praised Denmark’s Invictus Games team.
The 33-year-old royal was joined by Danish royal Prince Joaquim during a visit to the Copenhagen Danish Veterans Centre earlier this week, where they met with army veterans, some of whom had played for their country in Harry’s Olympic style games held in Toronto last month.
And Prince Harry took a moment to congratulate those who had taken part, specifically praising the wheelchair rugby team who had managed to secure a gold medal for Denmark.
He said: “My congratulations go out to them all, but particularly to Denmark’s gold medal winning wheelchair rugby team. I watched them win gold in person and I can tell you it was an amazing game.
“It was fantastic to see your guys progress so much since Orlando, even beating the UK in the process.”
Harry arrived in Denmark on Wednesday (25.10.17), and his trip comes as the latest in a series of European trips carried out by the royal family in the wake of the UK’s decision to leave the European Union.
Whilst attending a reception in the Danish capital of Copenhagen, Harry used his speech to highlight the “shared values and strong alliance” that Denmark shares with the UK, noting that the countries have “an unbreakable bond”.
He said: “I am delighted to be here on my first visit to Denmark. The warmth of your welcome has been incredible, and I’ve had an inspiring first day in your beautiful city – I can’t quite believe it’s taken me so long to visit.
“This trip is a clear reminder of the shared values and strong alliance the UK has with Denmark. Our two countries have an unbreakable bond which is as strong now as it ever has been.”

Prince Harry had two-year crush on Meghan Markle

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry had a crush on Meghan Markle for “two years” before they met.
The 33-year-old royal has been in a relationship with the ‘Suits’ actress since the middle of last year, and whilst the romance is still fairly new, it has been revealed the brunette beauty first caught the Prince’s eye two years prior to their meeting, as he had been attracted to Rachel Zane, her character on the USA Network drama.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl said: “He had a crush on Rachel Zane two years before he met Meghan and the reason I know is because I was having drinks with one of his friends.
“She told me she’d been on a night out with Prince Harry. He was single at the time, so she said, ‘Harry, who’s your ideal girl?’ And he said ‘Meghan Markle from ‘Suits’.'”
The flame-haired royal orchestrated a meeting between the pair in July 2016 through mutual friend Markus Anderson, and whilst they met up with “seven or eight” people, it was the “perfect opportunity” for the two to talk.
Speaking in an upcoming Channel 4 documentary ‘When Harry Met Meghan: A Royal Romance’, Katie added: “He asked Markus if he could set up, not a date, but an opportunity for them to meet and that happened in one of the private rooms of Soho House.
“There were about seven or eight of them altogether and it was a perfect opportunity for Harry and Meghan to come together in a really informal environment and actually talk.
“She was funny, feisty, confident and she wasn’t swayed or knocked by the fact that he was Prince Harry. She thought he was terribly cute.”
It comes after the same royal expert recently claimed the happy couple could move in together as early as next month.
She said previously: “I am told by my sources that Meghan is likely to be moving to London as soon as November.
“She’s not signing up for another series of ‘Suits’. She’s planning to leave Canada and make London her new, permanent home.”

Meghan Markle caused spike in sunglasses sales

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle earned a London-based sunglasses firm £20,000 in 24 hours by wearing a pair of their shades to the Invictus Games.
The ‘Suits’ actress has been dating the British royal since mid-2016 and their first public appearance together at the sporting event in Toronto attracted lots of attention.
The brunette beauty donned a pair of Percy Sunglasses by Finlay & Co. for the Invictus Games – which was screened around the world – and that led to a huge spike in demand for the brand, with women everywhere apparently desperate to get their hands on a pair.
In fact, the intense demand for the shades caused the firm’s website to crash a number of times, according to OK! magazine.
Meanwhile, royal expert Katie Nicholl recently claimed that Meghan could move in with Prince Harry as early as next month.
Katie believes they are poised to live together before announcing their engagement.
She said: “I am told by my sources that Meghan is likely to be moving to London as soon as November.
“She’s not signing up for another series of ‘Suits’. She’s planning to leave Canada and make London her new, permanent home.”
The insider also suggested that the loved-up duo will move into a small cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace.
Katie explained: “There’s a lot of talk about where exactly they’ll live.
“Currently Prince Harry lives at Nottingham Cottage which is a three-bedroom, small cottage in the [Kensington Palace] grounds.
“I am told that she will be moving into Kensington Palace – in fact, she already keeps a wardrobe of clothes at Harry’s house over in Kensington Palace and she’s going to be spending all of her time over here from now on.”

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip get commemorative set of coins

OHMYGOSSIP — An entire set of commemorative coins has been designed to mark Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s 70th wedding anniversary.
The duo are set to celebrate the occasion on November 20 and ahead of the date, work has been going on to produce a new set of Royal Mint coins with the couple in mind.
The designs all feature the standard royal crest and crown coin, which says “70 years of marriage” below the design.
On one of the coins, the Queen’s face is joined by that of her husband, while on another of the designs, the duo are seen riding horses together side-by-side.
Around the edge of the coin, it reads: “Wedded love has joined them in happiness.”
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Queen Elizabeth’s horses have won nearly £7 million in prize money over the last 30 years.
The 91-year-old monarch’s equines have won 451 races from 2,815 runs, raking in more than £6.7 million in cash, according to figures from MyRacing.com.
In 2013, she was also named Owner of the Year at the Racehorse Owners Association (ROA) Awards.
Rachel Hood, president of the ROA, said at the time: “British racing has been incredibly fortunate to benefit from Her Majesty The Queen’s lifelong support and the remarkable success of Estimate in the Ascot Gold Cup was a very special occasion for the entire sport.

Prince George set to inherit land holding retailers

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince George is poised to inherit land holding retailers like Primark and Mothercare.
The four-year-old royal – who is the youngest child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – is in line to assume control of The Crown Estate, which is currently controlled by the Queen and includes a string of lucrative shopping centres, according to the Daily Express newspaper.
Bath Road Retail Park and The Banbury Gateway Shopping Parkin Oxford are listed among the shopping centres currently controlled by the Queen – although she does not directly profit from sales.
The news comes shortly after it was claimed that Prince George and his younger sister, two-year-old Princess Charlotte, have already started to influence fashion trends around the world.
The Prince wore a blue jumper during the royals’ tour of Canada in 2016, prompting a 200 percent spike in searches for the term ‘blue jumper’, and his sister is having a similar impact with her own attire.
An eBay spokesman recently explained: “Her yellow cardigan worn in her birthday picture sparked the biggest percentage increase in searches for an item of clothing worn by any royal.”
Murray Lambell, vice-president of trading at eBay, said that although Duchess Catherine is widely known for her stylish attire, it is the youngest generation of royals who are now the most influential.
He said: “It’s the youngest generation of royals who really generate the must-have fashion items – and are driving a new generation of shopping behaviour on eBay.”

The British royal and Zindzi both attended an evening reception in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the duo – who have met twice before – discussed the relationship between the Queen and the former, iconic South African President.
Zindzi said: “He said it was nice to see me again. We talked about the special relationship between my father and his grandmother. He used to call her Lizzie.
“I first met Harry at my father’s memorial service, and then I bumped into him by chance at Johannesburg airport when I was on my way to my father’s last resting place for the annual ritual, so this was our third meeting.”
Zindzi, 56, is South Africa’s Ambassador to Denmark. And she explained that Prince Harry’s mother, the late Princess Diana, would be proud to see the man her son has become.
She said: “Harry does a lot of work with communities and that is a legacy of his mother. She would be very proud.”
Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth has reportedly given Prince Harry’s romance with Meghan Markle her blessing.

Prince Harry highlights links between Britain and Denmark

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry used his first visit to Copenhagen to highlight the ties between Denmark and Britain.
The 33-year-old royal attended a reception in the Danish capital on Wednesday night (25.10.17) and he took the opportunity to underline the links between the two countries, as Britain prepares to leave the European Union.
In a speech, the British royal explained: “I am delighted to be here on my first visit to Denmark.
During his two-day visit – which is designed to improve relations between the countries ahead of Britain’s much-discussed exit from the European Union – the flame-haired royal also chatted to Mai Mercado, Denmark’s Minister for Children and Social Affairs.
The duo discussed how social media has created social problems for young people.

Prince Charles should pay more tax, says Labour peer

OHMYGOSSIP — Labour peer Tony Berkeley wants Prince Charles to pay more tax.
Berkeley has tabled a Private Member’s Bill designed to bring the Duchy into line with other firms by forcing it to pay corporation tax.
Under the current set up, the Duchy provides an annual income to Prince Charles through different areas of land and property, which is valued at more than £1 billion.
Prince Charles voluntarily pays income tax on what he earns from the Duchy. But he does not pay corporation tax at the moment – which is currently set at 19 percent.
And Lord Berkeley is determined to see the situation overhauled.
He recently said, according to the Daily Mail newspaper: “There are too many royals on the public purse. There should be no more than two or three.
“My Bill would bring the Duchy into line with other successful commercial ventures. Charles should pay the same taxes as everyone else.”
Meanwhile, Prince Charles’s Highgrove estate has started selling Christmas goods – including £15 corgi socks.
The estate, which is based in Gloucestershire, south west England, opened its festive online shop on Monday (23.10.17) with customers able to splurge their money on a number of Christmas-themed items, including a teddy bear, a Christmas pudding and a luxury hamper.
But mother-of-three Jenny Sellick was left unimpressed by the cost of the gifts.
She said: “How does Prince Charles think the ordinary family can afford these prices?
“You can get a really good Christmas pudding at Aldi for about £8 and a box of charity Christmas cards costs about a pound. No way could we afford these Highgrove prices.”

Queen Elizabeth gives Prince Harry’s romance her blessing

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth has reportedly given Prince Harry’s romance with Meghan Markle her blessing.
The 91-year-old royal recently met with the ‘Suits’ actress, who has been dating the flame-haired Prince since mid-2016, and the Monarch is said to have been convinced Meghan is the ideal girl for Harry.
A source said: “There’s no drama within the immediate royal family when it comes to Meghan being an actress, but there are people on the outside who definitely disapprove.
“There’s still a lot of snobbery in royal circles, and to some, the fact that Meghan is American and a working actress, makes her totally inappropriate marriage material.”
However, this hadn’t had any impact on the Queen’s reaction to Meghan, 36.
The insider told HollywoodLife.com: “The Queen, and Prince Charles, are actually much more modern thinking than many give them credit for.
“They’ve had to change with the times in order to survive. Both the Queen and Prince Charles consider Harry’s happiness to be paramount, and they think Meghan is a great match for Harry, and that she will be a really good addition to the family.”
Meanwhile, Meghan’s half-sister isn’t sure if she’ll be invited to her proposed wedding to Prince Harry.
The star’s sibling Samantha Grant hinted that the loved-up duo could tie the knot at some point, but she wouldn’t be offended if she wasn’t asked to go to the ceremony.
Samantha – who hasn’t spoken to Meghan in nine years – said: “I don’t know if I would be hurt, and out of love and respect I would go; of course I would go. We’ll see if I get an invite.”

Prince William left the Queen feeling ‘livid’

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duke of Cambridge reportedly left Queen Elizabeth “livid” by suggesting his wife should take a permanent step back from her royal duties.
The Duchess already has two children – Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two – with the Prince and she is currently pregnant with her third child.
Ahead of the arrival of their new baby, Prince William has reportedly proposed the Duchess be relieved of her royal duties to focus on motherhood – but his request is said to have annoyed the Queen.
A source told Life & Style magazine: “The 91-year-old monarch was livid that the future Queen of England would want to lessen her duties.
“He [William] told her Kate wants her public appearances kept to a minimum and he’s 100 percent behind her. The conversation was quite icy.”
Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess recently confirmed they are expecting their third child in April 2018.
A statement issued by Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in April 2018.”
The new baby will be the fifth in line to the throne, with Prince Harry – the child’s uncle – being pushed into sixth.
It has also been announced that the Duke and Duchess – who was previously known as Kate Middleton prior to her marriage in 2011 – will kick off an exciting year with an official royal tour of Norway and Sweden in early 2018.
Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will undertake an official visit to Norway and Sweden at the request of the FCO in early 2018.”

Meghan Markle ‘could move in with Prince Harry in November’

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle could move in with Prince Harry as early as next month, according to a royal expert.
The ‘Suits’ actress and the British Prince have been dating since mid-2016 and as their relationship has become increasingly serious over recent months, Katie Nicholl now believes they are poised to live together before announcing their engagement.
Katie said: “I am told by my sources that Meghan is likely to be moving to London as soon as November.
“She’s not signing up for another series of ‘Suits’. She’s planning to leave Canada and make London her new, permanent home.”
The insider also suggested that the loved-up duo – whose relationship has made headlines around the world – will move into a small cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace.
Katie told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “There’s a lot of talk about where exactly they’ll live.
And in terms of when their long-awaited proposal may be announced, Katie explained that it may depend on other major events and landmarks.
She said: “I think particularly with royal engagements, it really is all about the timing.
“You have to remember there are other engagements and events coming up in the royal calendar that an engagement simply couldn’t clash with. I think that the new year is probably a more realistic prospect for an engagement announcement.”

Queen Elizabeth’s £7m horses win

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth’s horses have won nearly £7 million in prize money over the last 30 years.
The 91-year-old monarch’s equines have won 451 races from 2,815 runs, raking in more than £6.7 million in cash, according to figures from MyRacing.com.
Last year was a record-breaking one for the royal as her speedy four-legged friends scooped winnings of more than £557,000.
But it’s not known whether the queen has won or lost money because she has run 24 horses this year and it costs around £25,000 to £30,000 a year to keep a horse in training.
Elizabeth’s first success came in 1949 when her horse Monaveen won at Fontwell Park, West Sussex, south east England.
While she doesn’t have a bet on the horses, she is said to reading the Racing Post newspaper on a daily basis while tucking into her breakfast.
What’s more, the monarch attends the Royal Ascot race meeting on an annual basis and in 2013 she was named Owner of the Year at the Racehorse Owners Association Awards.
It came after her horse Estimate won the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, the first time a reigning sovereign had won the prize in the race’s 207-year history.
Rachel Hood, president of the ROA, said at the time: “British racing has been incredibly fortunate to benefit from Her Majesty The Queen’s lifelong support and the remarkable success of Estimate in the Ascot Gold Cup was a very special occasion for the entire sport.
“On behalf of all racehorse owners, the Racehorse Owners Association is honoured and delighted to present the 2013 racehorse owner of the year to the queen.”
The prize was collected on Elizabeth’s behalf by her racing manager John Warren and his daughter Susannah.

Queen Elizabeth can’t resist horn press

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth couldn’t resist pressing a firefighter’s horn during a royal visit yesterday (23.10.17).
The 91-year-old monarch met crew from the HMS Sutherland to mark the 20th anniversary of the vessel’s commissioning at Millwall Docks, east London – where the ship is on a four-day visit to celebrate the milestone – and couldn’t help but press 21-year-old engineering technician Stanley Money’s warning device.
Elizabeth poked the horn and then gave it a little squeeze, much to the delight of Chief Petty Officer Peter Manning, 38.
He told the Docklands and East London Advertiser: “The queen asked what it was for and I told her the crew sound it if they get into a distress situation during firefighting when it could be dark with smoke, to let other firefighters know they need help.”
The queen also met with the crew of a Wildcat helicopter who were deployed to the Caribbean last month, separately from the HMS Sutherland, to deal with the devastation following Hurricane Irma.
They told the monarch what the situation was like and described events they had witnessed.
The HMS Sutherland is a Type 23 frigate which has dealt with various missions around the world in its 20 years.
The boat recently completed a six-week operation in preparation for its deployment next year, but is usually used to escort Chinese and Russian warships when they pass into UK territorial waters, and tends to be based in Plymouth, southern England.

Prince Harry doesn’t eat marshmallows

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry cannot eat marshmallows because they’re “too sweet”.
The flame-haired royal – who served in the army for 10 years and underwent two tours of Afghanistan – is not a big fan of the calorific treats and has never toasted one over a camp fire, but has admitted he loves to sleep outside rather than in his own bed.
He said: “I’ve never toasted marshmallows over a campfire. They’re too sweet for me.
“But I’ve made campfires and slept under the stars more than I’ve slept in a bed.”
Harry made the sweet revelation during a day of engagements in Lancashire, north west England, where he spent some time in woods with a group of teenagers on the MyPlace programme, a joint Lancashire Wildlife Trust and Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust initiative.
According to the Daily Express newspaper, he told them: “You guys are the lucky ones, getting to do this.
“Tell your friends to get out in the countryside, get out and enjoy the great outdoors.”
The teens were delighted to see Harry accompany him on the “ecotherapy” trip, in which the group took part in activities with the aim of building their team skills and confidence.
Harry also visited the offices of Veterans UK – which administers the armed forces pension schemes and compensation payments for personnel injured or bereaved through service – to mark 25 years since its helpline service began, where he unveiled a plaque.
He then headed to St Michael’s on Wyre, a village he visited in February 2016 after it was hit by flooding in 2015.

Princess Beatrice: My mother is ‘misunderstood’

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Beatrice believes her mother, Sarah Ferguson, is “probably one of the most misunderstood women in the world”.
The 29-year-old royal – whose father is the Duchess of York’s ex Prince Andrew – admitted her family unit, which includes her sister Princess Eugenie, 27, have endured some “incredibly stressful times” but her mum manages to bring some positivity “every single minute”.
She said: “We’ve been through some incredibly stressful times together as a family and every single minute she created joy. I am so lucky that I get to learn from her every single day.
“I’m inspired by her ability to give, even when she’s going through something hard.”
As well as her mother, Beatrice is inspired “every day” by her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, and admits she is “very lucky” to have such powerful women in her life.
She said: “I have two role models, my mother and my grandmother. They are both formidable women. I think having female role models is incredibly important and I am very lucky that I happen to be related to these two incredible women.”
Speaking about the monarch in a rare interview, Beatrice added to HELLO! magazine: “Every day she’s curious to learn something new, to do something new, and I think that at 91 years old, she goes out into the community with a genuine curiosity as to how she can be a force for good in the world.”
Sarah – who divorced Andrew in 1996 after 10 years of marriage – recently admitted she is so close to her daughters they call each other “The Tripod”.
She said: “My girls’ health and hearts are extremely strong and doing very well. I don’t worry at all because I know they keep good diets, they exercise and they are emotionally supported so the stress levels aren’t there.
“My girls and I call ourselves ‘The Tripod’ because we’re so close. They will ring me up if they feel they have a problem.
“And they’ve learnt from my mistakes – thousands of them. It’s great.”
