Queen Elizabeth ‘happy’ about Princess Eugenie’s engagement

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth is “very happy” about Princess Eugenie’s engagement.
The 91-year-old monarch and her husband Prince Philip – Eugenie’s grandparents – were so happy when they found out Jack Brooksbank had got down on one knee during a recent trip to Nicaragua.
Speaking on The One Show, Eugenie said: “Granny actually knew right at the beginning, she was one of the very few people at the beginning, we left her this weekend and had a lovely time and she was very happy, as was my grandfather.”
Whilst A Buckingham Palace spokesman added that the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh “are very pleased and wish the couple all the best”.
Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie previously revealed it was a “complete surprise” when Jack proposed to her when they were on holiday this month.
She said: “The lake was so beautiful. The light was just a special light I had never seen. I actually said this is an incredible moment, and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we have been together seven years. I was over the moon. [It was a] complete surprise. But it was the perfect moment, we couldn’t be happier.”
Whilst Jack added: “It was love at first sight. I love Eugenie so much and we are just so happy and over the moon for what is to come.”
Jack also didn’t have the ring with him when he decided to propose as he wanted to design the piece of jewellery with his bride-to-be.
He shared: “I found a ring in a jewellers and then proposed to Eugenie without it and came back and we designed the diamonds around this padparadscha sapphire. And what’s amazing about it is that it changes colour from every different angle that you look at it, which is what I think of Eugenie. That she changes colour and is just so amazing.”

Prince Andrew is absolutely overjoyed by Princess Eugenie engagement news

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Andrew is “absolutely overjoyed” by Princess Eugenie’s engagement. The Duke of York was “thrilled” to find out Jack Brooksbank had proposed to his daughter and wishes them both every happiness in the future, Hello Magazine mediates.

He said: “I’m absolutely overjoyed. I’m thrilled. Jack is an absolutely outstanding young man and Eugenie and him have got to know each other over a number of years. I’m really thrilled for them. I can’t speak for the Duchess but we, and for Beatrice, we are overjoyed at the news today that Eugenie and Jack have got engaged.”

And the 57-year-old royal says they are now looking at everybody’s diaries to find a suitable date for the wedding, which will take place at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle in the Autumn.

Speaking to the BBC, he added: “It’s now about finding the time and date and getting it [the wedding] all organised. I think the Autumn will be the time everybody’s looking at. We can’t fix a date yet – we’ve got to look at everybody’s diaries. It’s a bit more complicated than that. But It’s their day, I’m just completely overjoyed for them and wish them every happiness.”

Buckingham Palace announced the happy news in a statement: “The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Eugenie to Mr Jack Brooksbank. Her Royal Highness and Mr Brooksbank became engaged in Nicaragua earlier this month. The wedding will take place in the Autumn of 2018 at George’s Chapel in Windsor, with further details to be announced in due course.”

Rumours that the pair were engaged have been flying around ever since December 2016 when Jack reportedly flew to Balmoral, Scotland to meet with Eugenie’s mother Sarah Ferguson to ask for her blessing on a forthcoming engagement.

A source said at the time: “You could call this weekend a rite of passage for Jack. There is no way he would be invited to stay with the Queen unless he was being welcomed into the royal fold and the bosom of the family … You could say he was somewhat apprehensive about going to Balmoral. But Jack has no side to him and will just be himself.”

Duchess of Cambridge reveals birth plans for baby number three: I want to have my next at home + VIDEO!

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William is “supportive” of Duchess Catherine’s decision to have a home birth. The royal couple are expecting their third child together, due in April 2018, and the 36-year-old royal wants to give birth at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

A source told the Sunday Express newspaper: “Catherine has said she would love to have her baby at home. She has discussed it with William and he is being very supportive. They both think it would be lovely for the family to have a home birth, particularly for George and Charlotte. Above all they both agree that having a home birth would save a massive intrusion into the day to day running of any hospital where she gave birth. They were very concerned about the chaos caused with the first two children as hundreds of press and public camped outside for several days, and they would like to avoid a repeat if they could. They don’t think it’s fair on other patients at the hospital and people visiting their relatives.”

Duchess Catherine welcomed her first two children – Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two – at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. It comes after a source revealed Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is considering having a home birth, having previously been advised against doing so for the births of Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

A source shared: “The Duchess knew it wasn’t possible for her first baby to be born at home, but she asked for a home birth for the second. Officials and doctors thought it too risky. There was concern and in the end she decided against it.”

Meghan Markle isn’t planning to have a typical bachelorette party — in fact, the affair will include both male and female attendees!

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle’s hen party will be “low key”. The ‘Suits’ actress is planning a quiet party to celebrate her upcoming nuptials to Prince Harry and will just be joined some of her closest friends.

A source said: “Meghan will be having a party but won’t be calling it her ‘bachelorette’. Think low key, think somewhere out of London, good food and drink, a little music. It won’t be wild. Expect to see the usual faces, with [her] best friends Markus Anderson, Lindsay Jill Roth and Jessica Mulroney taking top seats at the table.”

Meghan hasn’t started a bride registry and instead wants her friends and family to donate to charity instead. A source told Us Weekly magazine: “[There won’t be registry], they want to encourage friends, family and well-wishers to donate anonymously to a charity gift fund.”

It comes after royal expert Alastair Bruce revealed Harry and Meghan will likely have half as many guests as Prince William and Duchess Catherine at their wedding. Bruce said: “It’s very much a matter for the bride and the groom. The thing about Prince Harry is that he’s not seen to be in the direct line of succession, and therefore the pressure on him to invite the long list of people, who had to be asked to the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, is not present.”

Meanwhile, the royal couple have reportedly been advised against their first choice wedding reception venue of Frogmore House, Windsor Home Park. A senior royal source said: “They would have loved Frogmore for the party, particularly Meghan, who has called it ‘dreamy’, but they have been told St George’s Hall is far more practical … One person who would have readily approved of their choice was the queen, for whom Frogmore is a very special place. The queen would also have loved the family to see what had been done at Frogmore: the house has just been renovated by a group of friends as a 70th wedding anniversary gift to her and Philip.”

Prince Harry introduces Meghan Markle to beloved childhood nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke in secret meet during trip to Cardiff

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry has introduced Meghan Markle to his childhood nanny. The flame-haired royal and his bride-to-be visited his former nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke following the couple’s visit to Cardiff last week.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Harry couldn’t wait to introduce Meghan to Tiggy. Athough the two women are very different, they got on famously. She’s a very significant person in Harry’s life, almost like a mother-figure, as she looked after Harry when Princess Diana died.”

Tiggy, now 52, resides around 30 miles – roughly an hour drive – outside of Cardiff in the Glanusk Estate, owned by her family.

Meanwhile, during the couple’s walkabout in Cardiff, Meghan told a member of the public that she was “very lucky” to be with Prince Harry. Julie Hoefer, who is from Dundas, Virginia, was in the crowd and told People magazine: “We don’t have a royal family in America, and the whole idea is amazing. And now we have one who joined the family – finally.
“It is super exciting. Meghan was lovely. She came over and was talking and showed us her ring. It was gorgeous. She said she was ‘super lucky, a very lucky woman’. She asked me where I was from – I said Virginia and she said it was very nice. She was really stunning up close.”

And as part of their visit, the royal couple were gifted a traditional Celtic love spoon by local schoolchildren Harry and Megan and enjoyed a tour around Cardiff Castle.
Kensington Palace wrote on Twitter: “Prince Harry and Ms. Markle are presented with a traditional Celtic love spoon by local children, named Harry and Megan … Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle are in Cardiff for a day showcasing the rich culture and heritage of Wales. Thank you so much to everyone who has waited to welcome Prince Harry and Ms. Markle to Cardiff. Prynhawn da Caerdydd! What an incredible welcome to Wales! … Their tour of @cardiff_castle includes a Welsh Festival of Culture, where they are meeting musicians, poets and leading sportsmen and women. (sic)”

Meghan Markle would love to celebrate her hen party in Cardiff

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle would “love” to celebrate her hen party in Cardiff. The 36-year-old American actress is set to marry Prince Harry in May this year, and has admitted she would be happy to spend her last night before her wedding exploring the night life of the Welsh city, which she visited alongside her husband-to-be on Thursday (18.01.18), The Sunday Express mediates.

Royal fan Anne Daley got the chance to ask the former ‘Suits’ actress about sampling the Cardiff night life, and said: “I asked her if she would like to come on a hen night around the nightspots of Cardiff, and she said she’d love to.”

Meghan was overheard saying a Cardiff night out would be “a lot of fun” as she spoke to the royal watcher, who came to meet the couple clutching a “Happy Engagement” balloon alongside her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel whom she named Camilla in honour of Prince Charles’ wife the Duchess of Cornwall.

Anne added: “It was overwhelming. She was so beautiful and kind and she loved Camilla, she gave her a little squeeze.”

It comes after it was recently reported that Meghan and Harry, 33, will likely have a small number of guests at their wedding on May 19, because the royal is not a “direct line of succession” like his elder brother Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge.

However, the final number of guests will ultimately be decided by the couple, who can invite up to 800 people to witness their nuptials at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Royal expert Alastair Bruce said: “It’s very much a matter for the bride and the groom.

The thing about Prince Harry is that he’s not seen to be in the direct line of succession, and therefore the pressure on him to invite the long list of people, who had to be asked to the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, is not present.”

Prince Harry’s a feminist

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry is a feminist.
The 33-year-old royal has been praised for standing up for women’s rights and promoting feminism by his fiancée Meghan Markle, who listed his views on equality as one of the many reasons she loves the flame-haired Prince.
During her visit to Cardiff alongside the Prince on Thursday (18.01.18), Meghan told royal fan Jessica Phillips: “He’s a feminist too, so there’s that.”
Speaking after meeting the former ‘Suits’ actress, Jessica recalled how “lovely” the beauty was to talk to.
The 23-year-old fan said: “She was so lovely. I said it was really lovely to have a feminist in the royal family, and she said Harry is a feminist too.”
Meghan has often been vocal about her stance as a feminist, and has previously worked as the ambassador for United Nations Women, as well as with organisations such as One World Vision, where she learned about the challenges women and girls living in Dubai and Mumbai.
More recently, during a visit alongside Harry to a radio station in London earlier this month, a discussion with the DJ turned to the topic of feminism, and Harry refused to answer, letting Meghan speak instead.
When station manager Adrian Newman told the prince that they had a question for him, Harry said: “She answers the questions!”
To which Meghan smiled as she quipped: “Yes, talking of gender equality!”
Meghan, 36, stepped down from her roles within the United Nations, World Vision Canada, and One Young World when she became engaged to Prince Harry, but insisted she didn’t see the move – which also see her quit working as an actress – as “giving up”.
When asked about her decision to give up acting, Meghan said: “I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change.”
Meghan will tie the knot with Prince Harry on May 19 next year, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Prince William undergoes £180 buzz cut

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William has undergone a £180 haircut after growing tired of his brother Prince Harry teasing him for “going bald”.
The 35-year-old royal has employed his wife Duchess Catherine’s hairdresser Richard Ward and his deputy Joey Wheeler to dramatically trim his tresses into a barely-there buzz cut after his younger brother Harry incessantly teased him about losing his hair.
A source close to the hairdressers told The Sun newspaper: “Wills sought Richard’s advice, but it was Joey who was the one to visit the Palace and give him his new buzz cut.
“The Prince got sick of being teased by Harry about going bald and this seemed like a practical solution – and one that should stop all the digs too.”
Prince Harry, 33, has poked fun at his older brother’s receding hairline for many years, after the Prince started losing his locks at a fairly young age.
He once quipped: “I think he definitely is brainier than I am, but we established that at school, along with his baldness.”
Although he has now taken measures to stop the teasing, William previously joked about his lack of hair when his son Prince George, now four, was born in 2013, as he said the tot had “way more hair than me, thank God!”
William’s new look has been given the seal of approval from celebrity hairdresser Adee Phelan, who thinks the transformation makes the royal look “a million times better”.
He said: “William looks amazing – a million times better. When you’re going bald you have two options. A skinhead transplant known as scalp micro pigmentation so it’s less apparent you’re going bald. Or you just lump it off.”
However, some hairdressers were left perplexed by the whopping £180 price tag accompanying the cut, but noted that the hefty fee was likely a result of the work being carried out in the privacy of their home in Kensington Palace, rather than in a salon.
Anthony Kent – a barber from Birmingham – said: “That price has no relation to the actual cost – if Wills came in here he’d get the same cut for just over a tenner. I guess it’s the price of privacy. He’s paying for them to be discreet.”

Prince William praises Step Into Health

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William has helped to support the Step Into Health movement, as he described their efforts as “incredible”.
The 35-year-old royal visited Evelina children’s hospital in London on Thursday (18.01.18) where he met with veterans who have been helped by the NHS scheme which aims to help people move from the military into a job with the NHS.
The scheme – which was set up in conjunction with The Royal Foundation and Walking With The Wounded – is set to receive a national rollout, which will see veterans from all over the country able to transition into a job within the NHS.
Speaking at the hospital, Prince William said: “We must recognise the immense benefits all these people would bring to the NHS. At a time when concerns over the health service are never far from the headlines, we should rightly celebrate an incredible cohort of new staff, that will enter the NHS with their well-deserved reputation for hard work, dedication, and service.”
Whilst at the children’s hospital, William met with Captain Neil McKie, who served in the Royal Army Medical Corp from 2005 to 2011, and who was also at St Andrews University and Sandhurst military academy at the same time as the royal.
The 37-year-old veteran was greatly benefited from the scheme, and said it offers jobs which give former military personnel another “purpose” after leaving the army.
Neil said: “There’s a lot of people out there, ex RAMC would be the obvious choice, but to be perfectly honest anyone coming out of the Army could easily integrate themselves into the NHS.
“They know how to deal with the type of things the NHS has built into it, they are very similar … a lot of people coming out of the military want a job, and it is not about money, it is about having a job which has a purpose.”
Also during his visit, William met with the brave children being treated at the hospital, as he was shown around the centre by former veterans.
A tweet sent out by Kensington Palace’s Twitter account read: “The Duke of Cambridge has arrived at @EvelinaLondon, meeting the wonderful and brave children receiving treatment. He’s being shown around by former veterans who found work in the NHS thanks to Step Into Health. (sic)”

Meghan Markle’s royal group hug

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle embraced children in a group hug during her visit to Cardiff alongside Prince Harry.
The 36-year-old American actress took part in royal duties on Thursday (18.01.18) when she visited Star Hub in Tremorfa, Cardiff, alongside her fiancé Prince Harry, where they met with a group of school children.
And Harry wasted no time in making his bride-to-be feel welcomed during her third royal engagement, as he instructed the youngsters to embrace her in a group hug.
He said: “Everyone give Meghan a group hug – go!”
The excited children then rushed to the former ‘Suits’ actress, who admitted the adorable gesture had “made [her] day”.
Harry then feigned jealous when a few seconds later he told the children: “And release. She’s mine.”
The royal couple – who will tie the knot in May this year – also joined the children for a game of Jenga and watched them perform a dance routine.
Harry even joined in at one stage while a beaming Meghan clapped along and the couple comforted a little girl who became overwhelmed by the royal visit.
One youngster told the flame-haired prince: “I’m going to dance at your wedding.”
Meghan praised the dance routine as “amazing”, and said the children were “so sweet”.
She said: “Wow guys, well done. Such good dancers. It was amazing, guys that was so cool. We are so pleased to be here. We love the fact you guys do this every day. Oh my gosh, you guys are so sweet.”
The trip comes as the third royal outing for Meghan, and her first visit to the Welsh city.
During her visit, Meghan also accompanied her future husband to Cardiff Castle, where hundreds of people braved the cold to catch a glimpse of the happy couple.
The couple will tie the knot on May 19 at St George’s Chapel inside Windsor Castle.

The couple – who are set to tie the knot later this year – visited the Welsh capital and were handed the Celtic love spoon by local schoolchildren called Harry and Megan.

Duchess Catherine: I’m less sporty due to parenthood

OHMYGOSSIP — Duchess Catherine has admitted she is “less sporty” now she has “lots of babies”.
The 36-year-old royal – who is patron of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) – took part in tennis practice sessions with kids at Bond Primary School in Mitcham, south west London, on Wednesday (17.01.18) to see how the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative is getting on, and thanked them for their “hard work”.
Catherine – who has two kids, Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two, with Prince William, and is pregnant with their third child – said afterwards: “A big thank you from me as well because I’ve loved playing with you all – it’s so energetic and exciting to be part of it, so well done for all the hard work.
“And I love tennis. I think it’s a great sport, I was really sporty when I was little, less so now that I’ve got lots of babies.”
She then patted her baby bump in a nod to her and William’s unborn third child, who is due in April.
Schoolchildren lined up to shake the duchess’ hand as she was leaving but instead they all leaned in to hug her, which Despo Stevens, the school’s head teacher, later admitted was a “delightful” sign of affection.
She is quoted by HELLO! magazine as saying: “How delightful that it didn’t feel like royalty at a distance but royalty amongst the people.
“I’m in awe of how down to earth and engaged she was with everyone.
“The children didn’t hesitate in showing her affection – that is how they are here – and she didn’t seem to mind at all. I’m sure her mothering instinct came out.”
The Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative works with around 65 schools in the south London area to offer free coaching to youngsters.

Matt Smith praises ‘rock star’ Prince Philip

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Smith thinks Prince Philip is the “rock star of the Royal Family”.
The 35-year-old actor plays the 96-year-old monarch during his earlier years in Netflix drama ‘The Crown’ and while he is often told the Duke of Edinburgh was an irritating person, he believes the royal is a “very cool cat”.
He said: “I keep hearing what an a**e he was, but I actually think he is the rock star of the Royal Family.
“He’s a very cool cat. And in this run [of ‘The Crown’], I think we learn far more about him and the effects of great tragedy in his life and how that’s insidiously affected him.”
Matt doesn’t think living life as a royal in Philip’s earlier years would’ve been “easy”, and admits he would’ve “struggled” with certain aspects of his role if he had been in the same position.
He said: “In the 50s, he had to give up his job, he had to kneel before his wife, his children had to take her name – that had to give rise to inner turmoil and conflict.
“How could it not? It wouldn’t have been easy, any of it, as a proud man. I know myself, as a man – I know I would struggle with certain things he experienced.”
Matt insists Philip and Queen Elizabeth – who have been married for 70 years – wouldn’t be real people unless they had some sort of “tension” in their lives during their marriage after what they have been through.
He added to heat magazine: “What couple doesn’t [have problems]?
“And take away the royalness of it all – imagine being told by your partner, your significant other, ‘You’re going on a solo tour for five months.’ No questions.
“Now if that doesn’t create some fraught tension then these aren’t people we’re dealing with.
“But they survived and thrived throughout a 70-year marriage. Seventy years together, it’s mid-bogglingly bonkers. Wow.”

Tim Peake gifted Queen Elizabeth his Union Flag

OHMYGOSSIP — Tim Peake presented Queen Elizabeth with the Union Flag from his space suit.
The British astronaut handed over the special present to the 91-year-old monarch in April last year when he and his wife Rebecca were invited to a “dine and sleep” event with the queen at Windsor Castle.
The 45-year-old British Army Air Corps officer wore the present, confirmed by the latest annual Gift Lists, on his space suit during a spacewalk on January 15, 2016.
It is now framed alongside a note explaining its significance, which reads: “Presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by British ESA astronaut Timothy Peake.
“This Union Flag was worn during a spacewalk on 15 January 2016. It is the first Union Flag to be worn in the vacuum of space.”
Tim – the first British astronaut to be a member of the European Space Agency – is said to have taken inspiration from legendary explorers such as Captain James Cook when he was deciding what to give the queen.
A piece on the Royal Collection Trust website states: “Major Peake attached the badge to the left arm of his spacesuit before undertaking the first spacewalk by a British astronaut, outside the International Space Station on 15 January 2016.
“He was inspired to present the badge to Her Majesty by gifts made to monarchs by other great British explorers, such as Captain James Cook and Captain Robert Scott, which are also in the Royal Collection.”
As well as the Union Flag, the queen also received two framed photographs of elephants, a purple fleece bed for her beloved corgis and glittery baubles for her Christmas tree.
What’s more, her husband Prince Philip was presented with an array of items last year, including a bugle, a paperweight, and a travel backgammon set which could serve him well in his retirement.

Princess Charlotte loves pasta

OHMYGOSSIP — Duchess Catherine has revealed pasta is one of her daughter’s most loved foods.
The 36-year-old royal – who also has son Prince George, four, with husband Prince William, and is pregnant with their third child – was visiting Great Ormond Street Hospital in London on Wednesday (17.01.18) when she spoke about Princess Charlotte’s eating habits.
During a chat with four-year-old heart transplant patient Rafael Chana who admitted he likes pasta, she replied: “Charlotte likes pasta too.”
Rafael also admitted he is a big fan of olives – and so is the duchess.
Catherine said: “I used to eat lots and lots of olives when I was little as well.”
Charlotte is no doubt a big fan of teddy bears and if so she will have been delighted when her mother returned home on Wednesday with a cuddly toy for her and her brother George.
The Duchess of Cambridge was handed the gifts by nine-year-old Ava Watt, who attends the hospital due to suffering from cystic fibrosis.
Catherine told Ava the teddies were “a lovely present”.
During her visit, the duchess helped open the new Mittal Children’s Medical Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital and indulged in an art activity with kids.
A series of tweets by Kensington Palace revealed: “The Duchess of Cambridge is welcomed to @GreatOrmondSt (GOSH) by 9 year-old patient, Ava.
“Today HRH is opening the new Mittal Children’s Medical Centre, which will enable the hospital provide world-class care to even more children … The Duchess joins some children for an art activity, and discovers more about the positive impact the new centre is having on @GreatOrmondSt patients & their families.
“The children have been able to move into new, modern wards where parents or carers can stay comfortably overnight by their child’s bedside. (sic)”
Catherine’s grandmother-in-law Queen Elizabeth is a current patron of Great Ormond Street Hospital and has visited several times during her reign.
