OHMYGOSSIP — Duchess Catherine is excited about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming nuptials. The Duchess of Cambridge can’t wait to see her brother-in-law and his fiancé walk down the aisle in the May ceremony and is also equally excited about Princess Eugenie’s marriage to Jack Brooksbank, Emirates247 mediates.

Asked by a member of the crowd, who gathered to watch the Duchess visit a new addiction treatment centre in Essex on Wednesday (07.02.18), if she is looking forward to Harry and Meghan’s wedding, she said: “Yes and now we have two with Eugenie’s. It’s very exciting.”

Not much is known about the royal wedding but a source previously revealed Geri Horner is keen to see The Spice Girls perform at the event. The source said: “Geri suggested the Royal Wedding is a fantastic opportunity, and that they should offer to perform at the reception. She has been told that Meghan was a big fan of the Spice Girls, The Sun mediates.

“And the wedding fits in perfectly with Geri’s idea that the reunion should be very British. She sees it as a big part of their identity, and one they should keep. But at the moment the girls are not all decided on the topic of performing. And surprisingly it is Mel C, not Victoria Beckham, who is refusing to get on stage.

“Despite reports to the contrary, Victoria is now quite proud of the Spice Girls and their achievements. She feels strongly that if they reunite, they will have to perform. Mel is not so sure she wants to go down that path and will need some persuasion if they are to sing together again.”

And Prince Harry and Meghan are expected to have half as many guests as Prince William and Duchess Catherine did at their wedding. Royal expert Alastair Bruce said: “It’s very much a matter for the bride and the groom. The thing about Prince Harry is that he’s not seen to be in the direct line of succession, and therefore the pressure on him to invite the long list of people, who had to be asked to the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, is not present.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Elton John has cancelled two gigs to make it to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. The couple are set to tie the knot on May 19, 2018 at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle and Elton has made arrangements to ensure he is there to mark the big day.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper last month about the nuptials, he said: “I don’t know. I haven’t even been – no one’s been asked. I’m playing in Vegas so I don’t know what’s going to happen. It will be nice because I love him very dearly.”

However, now Elton has cancelled two dates – Friday May 18 and Saturday May 19 – of his Las Vegas residency so he can be there at the couple’s big day.

Meanwhile, Kensington Palace previously confirmed Harry and Meghan’s wedding date. The spokesperson said: “The marriage of His Royal Highness Prince Harry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle will take place at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle in May 2018. Her Majesty The Queen has granted permission for the wedding to take place at the Chapel. The Royal Family will pay for the wedding. Further details about the wedding will be announced in due course.”

And Elton previously opened up about how he “could tell” that Harry was in love when the pair met up months ago. He said: “I spent some time with him in Sicily last summer and I could tell that he was totally in love, and he didn’t really discuss much personally but he said ‘I’m in love’ … and I thought, good for you. Both those boys seem to have been ecstatically happy, and that’s all you want people to be.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Smith has ruled himself out of performing at the royal wedding. The ‘Too Good At Goodbyes’ hitmaker had previously expressed a desire to perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day in Windsor in May but he has now insisted he won’t even be in the country for the wedding of the year, dailymail.co.uk mediates.

He said: “That would be amazing, but no, that’s definitely not happening. I won’t be in the UK for the wedding [because] it’s my birthday, I’m gonna be on tour, but I love the weddings.”

However, the 25-year-old singer was less sure when asked if he would accept an invitation to the wedding. He added: “I don’t know. I was joking ages ago when I said I’d love to, but I don’t know. I don’t think it would be for me, but I’d love to go and like look at the dress.”

And whilst Sam didn’t have a part in the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s big day back in 2011, he remembers it fondly. Speaking on Australia’s KIIS FM’s Kyle And Jackie O Show, he said: “I remember Kate and Wills – I was out in Hyde Park getting drunk with my friends all day, it was such a fun day.”

Meanwhile, Sam previously revealed he wants to perform at Harry and Meghan’s wedding as he’s “obsessed” with the couple. He said: “I’m obsessed. I want to sing at the wedding. Oh my God I’d love to, it would be a dream. I met Harry once, at the James Bond premiere in the Royal Albert Hall, and he also did this amazing speech at the Attitude Awards, and it was really, really beautiful to see that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth’s 66 years on the throne was marked with a royal gun salute in London on Tuesday (06.02.18). The 91-year-old monarch celebrated the anniversary of her accession to the throne quietly in Norfolk but there was also an official gun salute in Green Park in London, metro.co.uk mediates.

The King’s Troop Horse Artillery made their way into the park at midday before firing their cannons whilst the Honourable Artillery Company did a 62 gun salute at the Tower of London at 1pm.

For Queen Elizabeth, the anniversary of her accession to the throne has never been much of a celebration for her as it reminds her of how she lost her father King George VI when he was just 56-years-old.

Royal historian Robert Lacey said previously: “She’s naturally shy and is the opposite of showy. And, of course, the anniversaries of the accession remind her of her father’s premature death. There is only so many of these landmark dates that people will want to mark. I’m sure she would rather people were asking why isn’t it being celebrated rather than, ‘Oh no, not another royal anniversary.’ She always plays safe – and that is a good instinct. The Queen is always wary of the commercial aspects, and doesn’t want to appear ‘on the make’ – though she doesn’t mind if charities use anniversaries to raise money. She’s got a well-developed sense of not wanting to exploit these royal anniversaries.”

When Queen Elizabeth celebrated her Sapphire anniversary last year, the Royal Mint honoured the record-breaking reign with a series of commemorative coins. One was a £5 coin, which has been designed by Glyn Davies, and he had made the decision to shift the crown around to make the Blue Sapphire stone visible.

Of his design, he said: “I drew inspiration from the regalia associated with the Queen’s coronation. As opposed to many traditional designs, I’ve rotated the crown to make a feature of the Stuart sapphire.

“I have also included a quotation from Her Majesty’s 21st birthday speech, which makes the design more personal. I used computer-aided design to create the inscription, but sculpted elements of the crown in clay.”

The Royal Mint had also commissioned a £10 coin, £500 coin and £1,000 coin to mark the occasion.

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Burrell is reportedly set to return to the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’ jungle. The former royal butler – who worked for Princess Diana – is said to be gearing up to star in the Australian version of the hit reality television show, having previously done the British version in the past, Sunday Express mediates.

And bosses are hoping that Burrell will open up about his time with Diana, who tragically died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997. Meanwhile, Burrell previously gushed about Prince Harry’s romance with Meghan Markle, admitting it is a “lovely thing to watch unfold”.

He said: “It was clearly, ‘This is love’. They adore each other and it’s a lovely, lovely thing to watch unfold. It’s not going to be easy for them. Who’d have thought an American, divorcee, Catholic would have married a Prince of the United Kingdom?”

And Burrell has no doubts about the longevity of their romance because he believes that at 36 years of age, Meghan is now aware of what she wants from life. He shared: “She’s 36, isn’t she? A mature young woman. Have you considered the fact that she’s 36 years old Exactly the same age Princess Diana was when she died … She’s a mature young woman who knows her own mind. She knows her way forward.”

And about the engagement ring, Burrell added: “William must have said to Harry, ‘What would you like to give to Meghan? Something of Mummy’s, because that’s right and that’s what Mummy would want.’ And that’s true. She would. That ring on [Meghan’s] finger will always remind her of the legacy which she’s married into.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Security experts have warned of the dangers after the Royal Household chose to publish details of their flights. They have decided to publish NOTAMs (Notice To Airmen) to tell pilots and drone operators where the helicopters will be flying to improve safety. However, some experts have warned that this could pose more of a security risk, commercialdroneprofessional.com mediates.

Dai Davies a former head of Royal Protection told the Daily Mail: “This gives me grave concern as to the overall risk potential. Why bother spending millions of pounds on protecting the Royal Family on the ground, then make this information available in advance? I just despair.”

Whilst Professor Anthony Glees, head of the University of Buckingham’s Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies, added: “Far from deterring people from flying drones nearby, they are in fact telling them how best to do so. To publicise where a Royal helicopter will be flying is to encourage terrorists, mad people and pranksters. There are some things that should be secret and I think Royal flights are among them.”

The Civil Aviation Authority, which publishes the alerts, said the decision was made by the Royal Household. A statement from the CAA read: “Following a review of helicopter flights by the Royal Household, route details will be provided to all airspace users including private pilots and drone users to allow them to remain clear.”

And a spokesperson for the royal family added: “In making travel arrangements, the Royal Household always seeks the best balance of security, efficiency and value for money.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle’s half brother Thomas Markle Jr. doesn’t want his children to attend her wedding to Prince Harry. The former ‘Suits’ star is set to tie the knot with the 33-year-old royal at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England in May, but her estranged sibling doesn’t believe his sons Thomas, 26, and Tyler, 25, should have anything to do with the couple’s big day as he claims Meghan hasn’t seen his boys since they were babies.

He also alleges that Thomas and Tyler’s mother Tracy Dooley – who he got divorced from in 18 years ago – didn’t want to use the family’s surname before now. He told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Tracy [Thomas and Tyler’s mother] and me stopped living as man and wife three months into the marriage because the relationship was such a disaster.

“She never wanted the Markle name when we were married and now suddenly she acts like she’s still part of the family. I don’t want her to have anything to do with us and the boys shouldn’t go along with it. They shouldn’t be at the wedding either. Both boys were always Dooleys as kids. I got sick of making the name an issue with Tracy and ultimately she had her way. They’re Dooleys. You cannot pick and choose when you’re a Markle.”

On the fact he doesn’t consider his own sons and their mother to be worthy of sharing his name, he added: “It’s got to stop. The boys were babies when they met Meghan last and Tracy has never even met Meghan, ever.

“I don’t believe Tracy or my sons have the right to call themselves Markles. If this embarrasses Meghan then I am sorry, but Tracy can’t go on claiming to be a Markle.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles descended 16 flights of stairs to launch the London Power Tunnels. The 69-year-old royal went below London’s streets to see a small portion of the 20 miles of concrete-lined passages, which have been installed to “future-proof” power supply to the British capital whilst his wife, Duchess Camilla, stayed above ground to learn about the new electricity superhighway, Sunday Express mediates.

Prince Charles then returned to the top, where he was joined by his wife as they officially switched on the new electricity. They both pressed the button to start the electricity flowing and the club classic ‘I Got The Power’ by SNAP! started playing, shocking the two royals.

Speaking at the launch event held at Highbury sub-station in north London, John Pettigrew, National Grid’s chief executive, said: “These tunnels are a huge investment into London’s future, in fact the most significant investment in the capital’s electricity transmission system since the 1960s.

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles celebrated 10 years of the British Asian Trust on Tuesday night (06.02.18) at a special anniversary dinner at Buckingham Palace. The 69-year-old royal was joined by his wife, Duchess Camilla, at the event to mark 10 years since the trust was opened by himself back in Glasgow in 2007, princeofwales.gov.uk mediates.

He said: “My wife and I could not be more delighted to be with all of you this evening in order to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of my British Asian Trust. It hardly seems possible that a decade has passed since we launched the Trust on a rain-sodden cricket pitch in Glasgow on what might be called a typical Summer’s day in July 2007.

“When I first had the initial idea for the Trust, following my visits to India and Pakistan in 2006, I could scarcely have dared to dream that it would have the remarkable success that it has since enjoyed and that it would touch the lives of so many people in need across South Asia.

“And yet, perhaps, I should not be surprised that it has succeeded as it has because, at its heart, the Trust is driven by the extraordinary entrepreneurial spirit of the British Asian Community.”

And the Prince of Wales offered his thanks to all those who have made the trust a success over the last decade. He added: “None of these new initiatives – or indeed any of the remarkable achievements of the past decade – would be possible without the support of so many of you. There are, I fear, far more people deserving of my special gratitude than I could ever mention tonight without keeping you all here until well after midnight.

“But, in marking ten years of the British Asian Trust, I particularly want to thank all of the Trustees who have devoted their time and energy to making the Trust a success and, in particular, to Manoj Badale who, I understand, has just turned fifty, but some how he seems to have discovered the secret of eternal youth over the past decade! Not a grey hair in sight. Quite how he has managed this remains a mystery as I rather thought that working for me in any capacity was bound to age anybody extremely rapidly!”
