Charges dropped against Jussie Smollett

OHMYGOSSIP — All criminal charges against Jussie Smollett have been dropped following accusations that he fabricated an assault against him in January.
The ‘Empire’ actor was facing 16 felony counts for filing a false police report, after he claimed that he was attacked and beaten by two masked men shouting racist and homophobic slurs at him and had a noose placed around his neck.
Chicago police investigated the matter and after raiding the home of two brothers of Nigerian descent decided to proceed to charge Jussie for staging the attack.
The 36-year-old star attended an emergency hearing in Chicago on Tuesday morning (26.03.19) alongside his legal team, and has had all criminal charges dropped against him after a judge sealed the case following Jussie agreeing to pay $10,000 in bond forfeiture.
Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx told Chicago police she was dropping the star’s case because Jussie would have only gotten community service if convicted, which he has already performed.
Foxx’s office said: “After reviewing all of the facts and circumstances of the case, including Mr. Smollett’s volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case.”
Jussie’s family also released a statement celebrating the news saying that the “truth had prevailed” after his character was “unjustly smeared”.
The statement said: “Our son and brother is an innocent man whose name and character has been unjustly smeared. Jussie is a son, a brother, a partner, a champion for human rights, and a genuine soul who would never be capable of what he was falsely accused of. He was the victim of an assault and then falsely blamed for his own attack. This morning truth has prevailed and he has been vindicated. All charges have been dismissed and his record expunged.
“The painful incidents we’ve witnessed him endure over the past seven weeks have been heartbreaking and unjust to say the least. While many were quick to rush to judgement before hearing the actual truth, we are grateful that the truth about Jussie has come to light. We look forward to bringing the real perpetrators to justice. We thank God and our village for standing by us during this trying time.”
Smollett’s attorneys Tina Glandian and Patricia Brown Holmes also explained in a statement that their client’s record had “been wiped clean.”
They said: “He was a victim who was vilified and made to appear as a perpetrator as a result of false and inappropriate remarks made to the public causing an inappropriate rush to judgement.
“Jussie and many others were hurt by these unfair and unwarranted actions. The entire situation is a reminder that there should never be an attempt to prove a case in the court of public opinion.”

Brian Becker, Chairman and CEO of BASE Hologram, said: “Both Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly set the stage for what was to come down the road in the music industry. These two men were forward-thinkers who understood what new forms of technology could do for their craft. Now to be able to recapture that magic on a grand scale and let their fans see them together will be something truly special.”
The concert series will launch concurrent tours in Europe and in North America and will include Roy’s chart-toppers such as ‘Oh, Pretty Woman’, ‘You Got It, ‘Only The Lonely’ and ‘I Drove All Night’, while the CGI Buddy will perform fan favorites such as ‘Peggy Sue’, ‘Oh Boy!’, ‘Not Fade Away’ and ‘That’ll Be the Day’.

Yungblud releases Live In Atlanta album

OHMYGOSSIP — Yungblud released his live album ‘Live In Atlanta’.
The ‘Loner’ rocker has unveiled his latest record which was recorded during his sold-out 10th October 2018 show at Vinyl in Atlanta and the 12-track set kicks off with ’21st Century Liability’ – the title track of the musician’s 2018 debut album.
The record also includes searing versions of ‘I Love You, Will You Marry Me’, ‘Psychotic Kids’ ‘California’ and ‘Die For The Hype’, while fans can also choose from an assortment of album bundles.
The 20-year-old singer kicked off 2019 with the release of ‘Loner’ which NME praised as “one of his biggest anthems ever” and last month released ’11 Minutes’ featuring both his girlfriend, Halsey and Travis Barker.
The ‘Kill Somebody’ hitmaker previously admitted he was “s****ing himself” when the Blink-182 drummer came into the studio to work on the track.
He recalled: “We were in the studio recording it and I said it needs a real drummer on it. She’s amazing, we created some magic but it needed some energy, it needs to sound like a Blink-182 record. She’s like, ‘Oh I’ll just text Travis Barker’.
“[Travis] was in the studio and 10 minutes later [he was working on the track]. I literally s**t myself – s**t myself thinking about s****ing myself.”
The British star says the song was completed within just three days of the trio being in the studio.
He said: “It was such an insane experience and came together so quickly … The record came together within three days of us all meeting each other, which is crazy. We went to grab a drink and no one in music does that anymore, from my experience, no one in music reaches out to me if they don’t want something.”

Jussie Smollett insists he’s been truthful

OHMYGOSSIP — Jussie Smollett has insisted he has been “truthful and consistent on every single level” after he was cleared of all criminal charges following accusations that he fabricated an assault against him in January.
The ‘Empire’ star vowed that he has always told the truth “since day one” and would never have been capable of doing what he was accused of.
Speaking to reporters outside the courtroom, he said: “I’ve been truthful and consistent on every single level since day one. I would not be my mother’s son if I was capable of doing what I was accused of.”
Following the decision to drop the 16 felony counts for filing a false police report, after he claimed that he was attacked and beaten by two masked men shouting racist and homophobic slurs at him and had a noose placed around his neck, Jussie’s family released a statement celebrating the news saying that the “truth had prevailed” after his character was “unjustly smeared”.

Sophie Turner was prepared to be single

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Turner was “fully preparing” herself to be single “for the rest of her life” before she met Joe Jonas.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ star is glad she has “found the right person” after getting engaged to the ‘Sucker’ hitmaker and she feels she is a “much older soul” now.
She said: “I was fully preparing myself to be single for the rest of my life. I think once you’ve found the right person, you just know. I feel like I’m much older a soul than I am in age. I feel like I’ve lived enough life to know.”
And before she was with Joe, the 23-year-old actress admits she “experimented” with women and insists she loves a “soul not a gender”.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, she added: “I’ve met enough guys to know – I’ve met enough girls to know. I don’t feel 22. I feel like 27, 28. Everyone experiments. It’s part of growing up. I love a soul, not a gender.”
Sophie previously credited Joe with helping her find her “happiness”.
She said: “I think for the longest time I didn’t have a real sense of myself. I had a bit of an identity crisis where I was playing all these people and I’d grown up faster than I probably should have done.
“I hadn’t been able to experience university, or just spend a lot of time with friends, so for a while, I kept thinking, ‘Who am I?’ A lot of [my happiness now] is to do with being with a person I’ve fallen in love with, who loves me more than he loves himself, and who wants to see me find my own happiness. That was probably the biggest thing that pushed me to find who I am – and find my happiness in things other than acting.”

Justin and Hailey Bieber waiting to have kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin and Hailey Bieber will wait to have children.
The couple see it is a priority to start their own family but they want to settle down first and make sure Justin is in a “good mental state” before they go down that route.
A source told Entertainment Tonight: “Justin and Hailey have talked about kids, and it’s a priority to them. They want to be in the right place before having them: having a home, being married and Justin being in a good mental state. The couple wants a few kids and their friends wouldn’t be surprised if that happened soon.”
Meanwhile, Justin previously insisted he will return to music when he has “repaired some of the deep rooted issues” in his life.
He wrote in a lengthy post on Instagram: “So I read a lot of messages saying you want an album .. I’ve toured my whole teenage life, and early 20s, I realised and as you guys probably saw I was unhappy last tour and I don’t deserve that and you don’t deserve that, you pay money to come and have a lively energetic fun light concert and I was unable emotionally to give you that near the end of the tour. I have been looking, seeking, trial and error as most of us do, I am now very focused on repairing some of the deep rooted issues that I have as most of us have, so that I don’t fall apart, so that I can sustain my marriage and be the father I want to be. Music is very important to me but Nothing comes before my family and my health.”

Dame Barbara Windsor’s Alzheimer’s is worse at night

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Barbara Windsor’s Alzheimer’s gets worse at night.
The ‘EastEnders’ star was diagnosed with the degenerative brain condition in 2014 and her husband Scott Mitchell has admitted he finds it most difficult to deal with in the evenings as she keeps asking whose house they are in.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2’s Steve Wright in the Afternoon, Scott said: “There’s good and bad days, the confusion does progress and that becomes a lot more stressful for her to live with and you as the carer to watch. I think what I’ve learnt by talking to other people is its very different for every case. It’s very simple things that used to be very easy, whether that’s signing something or writing a letter, opening something … At times very frustrating and irritable. It gets worse at night, with Barbara, it’s to do with our house. She constantly asks me over and over again at night whose house is this, are we staying here, is this house I grew up in with my mummy.”
Speaking back in January, Scott – who is in training to run for Dementia Revolution at the Virgin Money London Marathon on April 28 alongside some of Barbara’s former co-stars – insists he has no plans to move Barbara into a care home as they’re just taking things “day by day”.
He said: We just take things day by day. I haven’t spoken to Barbara – about the end of her life. There is a lot of Barbara that is still very much present, and I think you have to be very sensitive when you talk to people who are actually living with the illness. There is a sensitivity. You talk about certain things, you talk about the reality of a lot of things. But I think one has to be careful about not traumatising or suddenly causing thoughts that may not be there at the moment.”

Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry ‘slowly planning’ their wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry are “slowly planning their wedding”.
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star and the ‘Dark Horse’ hitmaker are preparing for their big day after getting engaged last month but they haven’t “set a date” for the wedding just yet.
A source told People magazine: “They’re slowly planning their wedding but they don’t have a date yet. Their past weddings were, of course, very different. They are trying to find a middle ground now …
“Orlando always shied away from anything flashy. He doesn’t want a huge, celebrity wedding. But they also have many friends that are important to them. They are still figuring out the details. Katy will work with a planner.”
Meanwhile, a source previously claimed Katy is convinced Orlando is the “right man for her life” and they are “over the moon” about the thought of married life.
An insider explained: “Katy and Orlando have been looking forward to this day for a very long time and they are over the moon to embark on their lifetime commitment. They talked about an engagement even before their breakup in 2017 but Katy wasn’t ready. She just wasn’t ready at first but soon after some time away, she knew Orlando was the right man for her life. They have been very hush, hush about it but have known for a very long time they wanted to be engaged. They have been preparing for this.”
However, Katy didn’t expect to marry again.
She said: “I’m very pragmatic and logistical and I am less fantastical about things. I mean, I was married when I was 25. I’m 34. It was almost 10 years ago. I was like, ‘One person for the rest of my life,’ and I’m not so sure that that idea is for me. I’m just such a different person than I was.”

Slaves release music video in bid to save pubs

OHMYGOSSIP — Slaves are releasing a music video in a bid to save pubs.
The punk rock duo made up of Laurie Vincent and Isaac Holman are set to unveil the video for their hit track ‘Bugs’ in partnership with Long Live the Local – a campaign that calls for a cut to beer duty to help keep pubs open.
The video is a tribute to the band’s love for the Great British pub, which marked the starting point of their careers and the ‘Cheer Up London’ hitmakers insisted that pubs are the “pillars of communities” and claimed that without them they would have had nowhere to launch their careers.
In a statement, Slaves said: “Without pubs, we would have had nowhere to start our career. Pubs are so important to the careers of musicians. They are pillars of communities and need saving.”
David Cunningham, Programme Director of Long Live The Local, emphasised the need for the campaign, with three pubs closing every day in the UK.
He said: “Pubs have long been the home of live music. They are a breeding ground for talent – past, present & future, a place where bands meet their first fans. However, with three pubs a day closing their doors for good, live music is under threat.
“We need to keep pubs alive to keep music live, which is why we’re asking music fans across Britain to sign our petition calling on the Chancellor to cut beer duty”.
Miranda Osborne, Brand Director at Carling, added: “Carling has been bringing musicians and fans together for decades.
“It remains an integral part of our brand ethos today, from our sponsorship of music venues to our nationwide Made Local campaign.”

Rob Kardashian ‘relieved’ after child support battle ends

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Kardashian is “relieved” he no longer has to pay child support to his ex-partner Blac Chyna.
The ‘Rob and Chyna’ stars settled their child support battle recently through mediation in relation to their daughter Dream, two, and Rob is said to be pleased with how it went.
A source told E! News: “They agreed to split custody 50/50 but it’s true that Rob will have Dream more of the time. Rob no longer has to pay Chyna $20k a month.”
Rob and Chyna sorted out child support for their two-year-old daughter Dream earlier this week, where they agreed that neither of them will pay each other anything and that they will each pay their own expenses for Dream when they are with her.
The former couple had previously insisted they are “actively co-parenting” in the “best interests” of their little girl.
Rob wrote on his Twitter account: “Angela and I are both actively co-parenting and there are no pending or active custody cases.”
Whilst Chyna added in her own post: “Robert and I only concern is what’s in the best interest of our daughter that we both equally love. Additionally, Robert is a wonderful father to our Dreamy!”
The former couple’s comments came only a few weeks after Chyna called out Rob in an Instagram Live video.
She said: “Ya know what’s so wild to me is that I never asked Tyga for child support, Rob for child support or whatever and then we just went to court, or whatnot, and I tried to squash it, which I did. But none of that comes out. It’s only negative s**t with Chyna, Angela White. We went to court mediation and s**t and I squashed it ’cause I never wanted no money from Rob, ’cause it was never about that, period.
“I have kids by two guys that f***ing tricked me, whatever, and they don’t give me s**t, no child support and I’m sick of that s**t. Rob didn’t help me, Tyga ain’t help me, Toni ain’t help me, but like try to like, smack me down, period, and I’m just letting y’all know this, all this s**t, I built by myself.”

Kehlani slams home birth critics

OHMYGOSSIP — Kehlani has hit back at critics of her decision to have a home birth.
The singer welcomed a baby girl Adeya Nomi into the world at her own home and described the birth as “the absolute hardest yet most powerful thing” that she has ever done but she insisted she is not trying to “shame” anyone else’s choices.
Alongside a heart emoji, she wrote: “all birth is extremely hard and transformative. homebirth is a medical decision as is hospital birth, all birth is mind blowing & powerful. using my experience to shame another’s isnt what i want, power to anyone who brings life forth, it’s a next level journey whichever way (sic)”
In her original post, Kehlani confirmed she had given birth to a baby girl.
She wrote at the time: “this weekend our angel arrived healthy & perfect in every way in our bathroom at home. unmedicated homebirth was the absolute hardest yet most powerful thing i’ve ever done. thankful beyond words. in love beyond comparison. refraining from posting to be family and rest, we just wanted to say thank you to everyone who sent well wishes, love, and support in all forms while waiting & working to bring Adeya earthside. (sic)”
The ‘Nights Like This’ singer has been very open throughout her pregnancy and had previously shared how her battle with prenatal depression affected her.
She wrote at the time: “2 days away from the 3rd trimester and this has been the hardest thing ever. From not knowing anything about prenatal depression nor understanding it while it’s been hitting me like a bag of bricks, to being very isolated and alone internally and externally these days, to just the normal terrible sleep/no appetite/anxiety. The struggle to recognise your body in the mirror, the struggle to not feel like no matter what, no one understands. (sic)”

Michael Jackson’s friend Rabbi Shmuley Boteach: There will be a ‘fundamental reassessment’ of his legacy

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Jackson’s friend Rabbi Shmuley Boteach thinks there will be a “fundamental reassessment of the legacy” of the singer following the allegations made against him in ‘Leaving Neverland’.
In Dan Reed’s ‘Leaving Neverland’ documentary, Wade – who testified under oath in Michael’s 2005 child sex abuse trial that the musician never abused him – claims that he was molested by the singer from the age of seven until 14, whilst James – who previously testified on Michael’s behalf when he was accused of sexual abuse in 1993 – claimed he was abused from the age of 10 until he reached puberty.
And now Rabbi Boteach has admitted the allegations made are “devastating, painful, and traumatising”.
Speaking to Australian TV host Tracy Grimshaw, he added: “I don’t believe these men are lying, and I don’t believe that the shame and guilt being experienced by their parents in general, maybe their mothers, in particular, is feigned. There will have to now be a fundamental reassessment of the legacy of Michael Jackson, in light of this documentary. Because we’ve never heard allegations that were this explicit. We’ve never really seen the faces of the accusers as they make these allegations, and we’ve never really heard the family members who had to shoulder that pain.”
Meanwhile, Taj Jackson previously insisted his late uncle Michael Jackson would have been left in tears over the child sex abuse allegations made against him in the ‘Leaving Neverland’ documentary.
He said: “I think it’s temporary in terms of the stain. First of all I believe the truth will come out. It might take some time. There’s been cases when someone has been labelled something and then 10 years later you find out the truth.”
The Michael Jackson estate has hit back at the allegations branding both accusers “perjurers” and “admitted liars”.

Christine McGuinness feels like a single parent sometimes

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine McGuinness feels like a “single parent” sometimes because her husband Paddy McGuinness is working so hard.
The 31-year-old model is proud of her husband for working to provide for herself, their five-year-old twins Penelope and Leo and youngest daughter Felicity, aged two, but admits it can be tough being away from him for extended periods and keeping the house together.
She said: “I would be lying if I said it’s great. It’s not, it’s really tough. At the moment I barely see him. It is getting to the point now where I feel it is overwhelming and too much. I feel like a single parent at times. I keep thinking it will quieten down soon but actually I don’t think it will. I think work will be good for Paddy and he’s going to be very, very busy and so I don’t know what we’re going to do.”
And whilst Christine is sometimes stressed by his absence, she knows he is doing all he can for the whole family.
She added: “It’s great that he’s so busy. But of course I would love to see him because he’s my husband. I miss him and I love it when he’s at home. The children miss him when he’s working so much. But I’ve got to support his work – I always have done. And he’s doing it all for the kids, to provide for them and give them a good life.”
Christine is considering getting someone in to help with the children but hasn’t made her mind up just yet.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Should I get some support at home? I question that at times but I’ve managed for almost six years so should I just keep going? I don’t know the answer.”

Mandy Moore’s surreal Hollywood Walk of Fame star

OHMYGOSSIP — Mandy Moore thinks it is “surreal” that she has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The ‘This Is Us’ star has admitted she is still “floating” after being handed the honour at her own ceremony in front of some of her closest friends.
She wrote on Instagram: “What a surreal day. It still feels like I’m floating. Thank you to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the @hwdwalkoffame for this tremendous honour. Nothing better. To say that I’m grateful to still be doing what I LOVE and then for this kind of acknowledgment after 20 years in the business is a massive understatement. Thanks for sticking with me, friends (sic)”
During her speech, Mandy paid tribute to her ‘A Walk To Remember’ co-star Shane West and delivered a heartfelt speech on their friendship and how they were polar opposites before they starred in the 2002 flick.
Mandy said: “We couldn’t have been more opposite when we met. I was busy wearing ill-advised clothes and having dubious hair choices and wearing eyeliner in my garage punk band or whatever, whatever that was. And you were killing it on the pop star scene. You had very long beautiful blonde hair at the time. I was trying to get you to listen to The Clash or the Ramones. You were not interested but you were very sweet about it, and you stuck to your Fleetwood Mac. Always Fleetwood Mac. And so apparently our director for A Walk to Remember, Adam Shankman, decided, ‘Hey, yeah, why not let’s put these two together, let’s put the two opposites attract together.'”
Mandy was handed the honour in front of her ‘This Is Us’ co-stars, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Jon Huertas, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz and Susan Kelechi Watson, and husband Taylor Goldsmith.

Maisie Williams taking a break from work

OHMYGOSSIP — Maisie Williams is taking a break from work.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ star said she “subconsciously” decided to put her career on hold for a little bit after filming wrapped on the HBO fantasy series by changing the colour of her locks.
Talking about her decision to dye her hair pink, she told Rolling Stone magazine: “I guess, subconsciously, I dyed it because I didn’t want to work.
“It’s a pretty good way of stopping that. And it just feels so good, so me. I’ve battled my whole adolescence with trying to put a stamp on my appearance, but also be a blank canvas as an actor.”
Meanwhile, Maisie previously confessed she thinks her looks are affecting her career as she hit out at Hollywood for being “shallow”, as she believes that the roles she gets offered are only available to her because of the way she looks, as well as meaning she misses out on other roles for the same reason.
She said: “It’s only now I’m starting to realise the characters that are available to me because of the way I look and the characters that aren’t available to me. It’s a very shallow industry … I don’t look like someone who is cast in roles that are, well, sexualised. Don’t get me wrong. I’m completely in awe of Hollywood’s leading ladies. I love looking at those totally jaw-droppingly beautiful women. But I think it’s sad that you only get to see one type of beautiful onscreen.”

Avicii honoured with Tim Bergling Foundation

OHMYGOSSIP — Avicii’s family will honour him with the launch of the Tim Bergling Foundation on the first anniversary of his death.
The ‘Levels’ hitmaker – whose foundation has taken its name from his given moniker – tragically passed away on April 20, 2018 at the age of 28 and his relatives will honour him with a new project to support those struggling with mental illness and also to support the prevention of suicide.
His family said in a statement: “Tim wanted to make a difference. Starting a foundation in his name is our way to honour his memory and continue to act in his spirit.”
At the end of April 2018, Avicii’s family released a statement which seemingly confirmed the star had taken his own life.
It read: “Stockholm, 26 April 2018. Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace. Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight. Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive. We love you, Your family (sic)”
