James Wan wants to make a Batman horror film

OHMYGOSSIP — James Wan wants to direct a “horror version of Batman”.
The 41-year-old filmmaker has been given the chance to step into the world of DC Comics by helming the new ‘Aquaman’ movie but before he got to guide Arthur Curry on an adventure he wanted to create a Caped Crusader film which explored the darkest parts of his mind and Gotham City and it is still one of his ambitions.
Speaking to Heroic Hollywood, Wan – who created the ‘Insidious’, ‘Saw’ and ‘Conjuring’ horror franchises – said: “In the past, like most people, I loved the idea of directing Batman, but a horror version of Batman. “That would be a potential fantasy of mine, but I feel like he’s been done quite a fair bit. But, I do love the idea of doing an outright scary Batman. I feel like that’d be really cool.”
If Wan is ever granted his wish there are no shortage of horror stories that have appeared in the pages of the comics such as ‘The Long Halloween’ which sees Batman use his detective skills to track down a serial killer and includes appearances from a rogues gallery of villains, including Calendar Man, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, Riddler and the Joker.
Whilst The Caped Crusader has even battled vampire Dracula in ‘Batman And Dracula: Red Rain’ and he even falls victim to the blood-sucking vampire curse in the trilogy of stories.
Matt Reeves is helming the next film about the Gotham City Saviour and ‘The Batman’ set to go into production next summer from a script also penned by the ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ director.
It is not yet known if Ben Affleck will be donning the cape and cowl again following his performances as Batman in the DC Extended Universe films ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Justice League’.

The 2019 BRITs statuette design revealed

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Adjaye OBE’s BRIT Awards 2019 statuette is made of solid glass.
The prestigious music awards ceremony – sponsored by Mastercard – will take place on February 20 at The O2 arena in London, and the influential architect’s unique design has been unveiled today (04.12.18).
The renowned artist wanted to explore “the nature of perfection and imperfection” with his design, through the shape of a “proportionally different” female body.
He explained: “The BRIT Awards are a quintessential part of a celebration of British talent and a powerful forum to really talk about the evolving nature of British culture and the contribution of people to that culture. “My take on the BRIT trophy is the manifestation of a great material forged in fire and shaped into the body of a woman.
“She is unique, and proportionally she is very different.
“For me, designing the award was an opportunity to question and explore – what is the nature of perfection and imperfection, what is the notion of beauty … it was exciting to transfer those ideas to a smaller object.
“Now, we have something that I really, really love; I’m very happy with it.”
The 52-year-old has worked with musicians, filmmakers, artists and fashion designers throughout his career, and his current projects include the new Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre in London, the Ghana National Cathedral in Accra and his first skyscraper, 130 William in New York City.
He has teamed up with progressive Czech glassmaking and design company LASVIT for the award.
His appointment sees him follow in the footsteps of Sir Anish Kapoor and the late Dame Zaha Hadid, who designed the 2018 and 2017 trophies respectively.
Jason Iley, BRITs Chairman and CEO and Chairman of Sony Music UK & Ireland, personally commissioned the recent trio of world-renowned award designers.
He added: “David’s treatment has surpassed my expectations, continuing the transformation of the award, as well as building on the legacy of outstanding creativity over the past few years. BRIT winners on the night will take home a truly stunning piece of work that’s totally unique to them with each award carrying its own individual and distinctive imperfections. I’d like to thank David and his team, in particular Duncan Wilson, LASVIT and Alice Beal for all of their work in making David’s vision a reality.”
The first star to get their hands on the trophy will be the winner of 2019’s BRITs Critics’ Choice Award, which is announced on Friday (07.12.18).
This year’s nominees include Lewis Capaldi, Mahalia and Sam Fender.

George Ezra believes Shotgun burp mystery scored him No1

OHMYGOSSIP — George Ezra thinks ‘Shotgun’ is only a hit because people thought he burped during the song.
The modest musician believes the chart-topping single from his album ‘Staying at Tamara’s’ started shooting up the charts after razor-sharp fans noticed what appeared to sound like a belching noise on the track, which led everyone into streaming and downloading the single again to check it out.
However, the 25-year-old star is adamant it was actually just him saying “well”.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: “I got this email saying: ‘Look there’s this meme going around saying that you burped.’
“But it’s just me saying the word ‘well’.
“Within about a week it got back to No1 as everyone was checking out to see if I burp.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Budapest’ hitmaker recently admitted he would love to turn his hand to acting one day.
He said: “I love the idea of going into acting. I’ll have to get some acting lessons or something. I wouldn’t do it tomorrow but it’s something I’ll definitely do one day.”
In the meantime, the ‘Paradise’ singer has his hands full with his biggest ever UK tour next March, and he’s confident it will be a huge success.
He said: “It will be the best concert anyone’s ever been to.”
The 10-date run kicks off at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle Upon Tyne on March 7.

Christine and the Queens to headline All Points East

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine and the Queens will headline All Points East Festival.
The ‘Titled’ hitmaker – who released her critically-acclaimed second studio album ‘Chris’ in September – will head up the main stage on Sunday May 26, 2019, at London’s Tower Hamlet’s Victoria Park, with a stellar supporting line-up featuring Metronomy, Maribou State, Beach House, Honne and Kurt Vile and the Violators.
Bon Iver will close the 10-date extravaganza on June 2, joined by the likes of country pop duo First Aid Kit and Canadian star Mac DeMarco.
And as previously announced, Chemical Brothers will headline the first day (May 24).
The electronic duo recently released their new single ‘Free Yourself’, and they are set to bring their legendary live show to the event.
They will be joined on the bill by Hot Chip, with what was their first festival announcement for 2019 after last being seen celebrating the release of their sixth album ‘Why Make Sense’ in 2015.
Also joining the bill is Primal Scream, while space rockers Spiritualized have also been announced after recently returning from a six year hiatus with new album ‘And Nothing Hurt’.
Little Dragon will be part of the stacked bill, and the announcement rounds off with Danny Brown, Little Simz and Ibidio Sound Machine.
Jim King – Executive Vice President, Live Music at AEG Presents – said: “We are thrilled to be returning to Victoria Park for a second year with an artist bill as exciting as our first year.
“We’re expanding our programme of free midweek entertainment and again working alongside some of the best local suppliers to produce an incredible ten days of entertainment with something for everyone.”
Bring Me The Horizon’s frontman Oli Sykes recently teased that the band will make their APE debut, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
Teasing their appearance during their recent sold-out Alexandra Palace concert, the ‘Mantra’ hitmaker said: “London, you’re always amazing, but tonight was something else. We will back next year, playing a festival called All Points East.”

Shanina Shaik still gets Victoria’s Secret nerves

OHMYGOSSIP — Shanina Shaik still gets nervous before the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
The 27-year-old model has walked the iconic runway four times but because”it’s the biggest fashion show in the world”, she’s always a “little nervous”.
However the brunette beauty insisted that once the show begins her worries “float away”.
Speaking to Vogue Australia, she said: “It’s the biggest fashion show in the world, so I’m always at least a little nervous. I have to say though, once you get on that runway the nerves float away and everyone just has a blast.”
The Australian model stunned at the glamorous event, which took place earlier this year in New York City, wearing a floral corset with neon pink detailing complete with matching statement heels and a giant orange bow, and Shanina loved her look.
She said: “My look was amazing! The styling is always so beautiful – from the outfit to the shoes to the accessories, they make it easy to rock it!”
Fellow Victoria’s Secret model Georgia Fowler was also nervous but excited before the big day, and admitted she “loved” her sporty look for the show.
She said: “We worked so hard for this moment and it’s watched by over 1.6 billion eyes so you want to own your moment.
“That being said, it’s more excitement than nerves, and a few deep breaths and sideline cheering alleviates it all. Once I’m on the catwalk I have the best time just enjoy the moment!
“I was in the Downtown Angel section and loved my look; it was a lace black bra and brief with a sporty over jacket.
“It showed a lot of body which was great as I’d worked so hard on being strong in the months leading up, so was a perfect outfit to show off my hard work.”

Versace bringing back Jennifer Lopez’s dress

OHMYGOSSIP — Versace are reissuing the plunging green dress made famous by Jennifer Lopez.
The fashion house are re-releasing the iconic emerald gown worn by the ‘On the Floor’ hitmaker at the 2000 Grammy Awards – which continues to be one of the singer’s most memorable looks – but with a new modern twist.
The silk chiffon gown – which first made its debut on the brand’s spring/summer 2000 runway on model Amber Valletta – has been recreated in a new style and made its debut at Versace’s pre-fall 2019 show in New York City on Monday (03.12.18) night.
One again worn by Amber, the neat plunging point silhouette was reinterpreted in a ‘Love Pop Art Print’ which donned dramatic balloon sleeves and multicolored heart detailing with a gem-encrusted plunging point.
The original jungle print dress was searched so much by fans at the time, it is the reason Google Image Search exists.
Google’s former executive chairman Eric Schmidt previously said: “At the time, it was the most popular search query we had ever seen.
“But we had no surefire way of getting users exactly what they wanted: J.Lo wearing that dress. Google Image Search was born”
This isn’t the first time the luxury fashion brand has re-issued a famous celebrity item, as the designer recently brought back Notorious B.I.G’s signature Versace sunglasses.
The late rapper frequently wore the accessory at the height of his career – including for the video for hit song ‘Hypnotize’ – and the brand has decided to bring back the iconic glasses, 20 years after the artist’s death.
The sunglasses have been given a contemporary make-over and the classic curved frames have now been changed into hexagonal low-lens design – in keeping with the recent trend for retro cat-eye and oval framed glasses – and will be released as part of the fashion brand’s The Clans Collection.

Craig Revel Horwood and his partner sign NDAs

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Revel Horwood and his partner have signed Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).
The 53-year-old professional dancer has admitted that both he and Jonathan Myring, 22, have both put pen to paper on a legal agreement which outlines confidential material, knowledge, or information which cannot be disclosed to a third party – and the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge thought it was “quite fun”.
When asked whether Craig had made gardening expert Jonathan sign an NDA, he told Celebrity Secrets magazine: “Yes, of course, he has! He also gave me one to sign as well, so that was quite fun.”
The choreographer also revealed that his new beau recently moved into his plush London pad, and gushed over his new love.
When asked whether Jonathan had moved in, he said: “Most definitely. He’s adorable, honest, genuine and always smiling.
“He has his own life and I have mine. We live life on a parallel and we occasionally meet in the middle. I think that’s sort of perfect.”
The pair met through a friend while Craig was touring with ‘Strictly’, and the no-nonsense panellist has previously admitted he is smitten with Jonathan.
He said: “He’s good-looking, 5ft 10in, dark hair and beard. We met on the ‘Strictly Tour’ a month ago.
“He came to the show with a friend and we met backstage.”
As for what Craig is really like when he’s at home, he insists he is “loving, generous and passionate” and admitted he likes to maintain a good balance between partying and having chilled evenings.
He said: “I’m loving, generous and passionate. I like to have fun, I like to party and I like to have quiet times as well. I like to read, I like to write, and now I like to do gardening.”

Will Ferrell bringing back Ron Burgundy

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Ferrell is bringing back his ‘Anchorman’ character Ron Burgundy for a new comedy podcast.
The 51-year-old actor has portrayed the bumbling news anchor in the two spoof movies and now he is resurrecting his most famous comic character for ‘The Ron Burgundy Podcast’.
The podcast will launch on the iHeartRadio Podcast Network and will be available to listeners from early 2019. It will be co-produced by Funny or Die and iHeartRadio.
With bosses confident it will be a success it has been commissioned for 12 episodes running across two seasons.
Although the format has not been revealed, fans are hoping that the rest of the San Diego KVWN Channel 4 News Team will make some guest appearances with Paul Rudd back as field reporter Brian Fantana, Christina Applegate returning as co-anchor Veronica Corningstone, Steve Carell as idiotic weatherman Brick Tamland and David Koechner coming back as sports guy Champion ‘Champ’ Kind.
The announcement was made on the new @BurgundyPodcast Twitter handle with a series of tweets to CNN’s Don Lemon claiming Ron had lost his White House press credentials.
The tweets read: “Hello, @donlemon! It’s your good friend, Ron Burgundy. Don’t know if you heard, but I recently had my White House press credentials pulled. They accused me of eating too many hot dogs in the press break room.
“They said I ate 12 dogs! I only ate 4 dogs!!! I’m not Kobayashi for cripes sake! Anyway, old friend, was wondering if you could do me a favor.”
Lemon then replied: “Mr. Burgundy, I gotta be honest I don’t remember ever meeting you and frankly I’m a little shocked you have White House press credentials. I know I stand for a free press and all but just not so sure you should have those credentials.”
Prompting Ron to say: “Don, I am laughing out loud! So about that favor: the media landscape is changing so fast and I DO NOT CARE FOR IT. That’s why I’m starting a ‘podcast!’
“Have you heard of “podcasts?” They’re hotter than Jane Fonda’s workout tape! Anywho, I need help getting the word out about mine. What do you say best friend?”
Lemon then tweeted: “Please do not start a podcast and stop contacting me.”
Ron ended the Twitter exchange by posting: “Okay, so no podcast plug. Got it. By the way just so you know, our friendship is over. YOU GO STRAIGHT TO HELL. DO NOT DISRESPECT ME IN A PUBLIC FORUM. DON IS A GRADE A JERK. BURGUNDY, OUT.
“I’m starting to think Don ate the hot dogs. Not how I wanted to do this, but I am formally announcing I am doing a podcast! (sic)”

The 54-year-old actress has quipped she avoids “outside carcinogens” – any substance which could cause cancer – before insisting she only gets seen at events when she works hard to look her best.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I’m sleeping in a container that is devoid of of outside carcinogens, that helps lift what you don’t have and – come on, please!
“The only time you see me is when I do press junkets. Do you know how many hours of hair and makeup this took? Two and a half hours!”
The star revealed she actually just puts in a lot of time and effort when it comes to being at premieres and press events.
She explained: “I’m gonna work this look all day today and then I’m gonna go home and take a shower, and it’s gonna happen again at 8 o’clock in the morning.
“I’m never out in the world where I get photographed unless it’s in things like that, so I just look my best.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Bird Box’ actress – who has children Louis, eight, and Laila, six – revealed how she drew on her own parenting experiences for her role in the post-apocalyptic thriller which showed her take an authoritative tone with her on-screen kids.
She added: “You know that you can go there. I try really hard not to go there with my kids but you do that when you’re scared, [like] when your child about runs into traffic.
“It is the fear, and the beast that comes out… you become a human being you don’t like, but it’s the only thing you know how to do [to protect your kids].”

Chrissy Teigen’s son gets corrective helmet

OHMYGOSSIP — Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s son has been fitted with a helmet to correct his “adorable misshapen head”.
The ‘Lip Sync Battle’ star shared a photo of six-month-old Miles in the corrective headgear but told her fans and followers not to “feel bad” for him because it would help in the long term.
She wrote on Twitter: “baby miles getting fitted for a little helmet today for his adorable slightly misshapen head. so if you see pictures, don’t feel bad for him because he’s just fixing his flat and honestly he’s probably gonna be even cuter with it somehow (sic)”
While Miles was wearing a white helmet in the photo, Chrissy vowed to get a number of different ones so he can co-ordinate with his outfits.
She posted in the comments of her Instagram account: “I’m gonna get SO many designs.”
Though it is unclear why Miles is wearing the helmet, it is likely due to a “very common, very treatable” condition called plagiocephaly, which “causes a baby’s head to have a flattened appearance.”
Babies who are fitted for the helmets typically wear them for 23 hours a day for around three to six months.
Meanwhile, Chrissy – who also has two-year-old daughter Luna with John – recently admitted she’s keen to have another child, but wants to stop at three kids in total.
The 32-year-old beauty said: “I think we’ll definitely do another one and then after that, I don’t know if my body can take it anymore.”
The two stars are couple preparing for Christmas – their first with Miles – and they revealed they’ve already given some thought to how lavish the gifts will be.
John, 39, added: “We’re gonna try to keep the gifts to a minimum.”
Instead, Chrissy explained they would be putting the focus on other aspects of the festive period to make it memorable for their children.
She said: “We’ll make it special in other ways.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie once dumped an ex on Valentine’s Day.
The 28-year-old actress was playing a game of Loaded Questions – which sees each person answering an unknown question, and either revealing it to the audience or taking a shot – when she made the revelation.
As she played the game with ‘The Tonight Show’ host Jimmy Fallon, he said: “You broke up with someone on Valentine’s Day? Oh my gosh!”
Margot admitted ending their relationship on such a romantic occasion wasn’t the best timing.
She added: “It was awful. I hope to God he’s not watching this.”
Thankfully, the ‘Suicide Squad’ actress is now happily married to filmmaker Tom Ackerley, and she recently revealed while she finds life “way more fun” since they tied the knot in 2016, she does feel added “responsibility”.
She said: “Being married is actually the most fun ever, life just got way more fun… [But] I have a responsibility being someone’s wife, I want to be better.”
Meanwhile, Margot previously admitted she hates to be alone with her thoughts and tries to do everything with her other half or her close friends.
She explained: “I never do anything on my own. I don’t see the purpose of doing anything if I don’t do it with my friends. I go mental when I am on my own; my thoughts are so loud it drives me insane.”
And it comes after the actress was fiercely independent as a child.
She added: “We weren’t easy kids, we didn’t make it easy for Mum. When I was five I was watching my mum put spread on my sandwich for school and I was saying, ‘It’s not going to the edges’, and she was like, ‘If I am not doing it right, do it yourself.’ So I started making my own lunch from five years old. If I wanted something a certain way I just did it myself. Mum says it sums me up. I’m still trying to make it up to her.”

P Diddy on a new ‘journey’

OHMYGOSSIP — P. Diddy is embarking on a new “journey” following the death of his ex-girlfriend Kim Porter.
The ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ hitmaker – whose former partner passed away last month aged 47 – forced himself to get up “real early” in order to take his kids to school and claimed he was “trained by the best”.
Speaking in his car, surrounded by his kids, he said in a series of posts shared to his Instagram story: “What’s up y’all? Today, the journey begins. Thank you for your prayers and support. I am now a part of the six a.m. crew. This is Mommy/Daddy, Daddy/Mommy checking in.
“This Mommy/Daddy thing is beautiful. You just have to get up early in the morning. Like early. Like, real early.
“You hear me say Daddy/Mommy, all my single mothers out there know what it is and also single fathers, gotta step up and play both roles. Mothers do it all the time. Shout out!”
He captioned one post: “New day. New life, New responsibilities. Kim I got this. Just like you taught me!”
And alongside another he wrote: “I was trained by the best! #KimPorter (sic)”
After completing the school run, the 49-year-old rapper – who raises Kim’s 27-year-old son Quincy, their three kids together, Christian, 20 and 11-year-old twins D’Lila Star and Jessie James, and also Justin, 24, and Chance, 12, his two kids from other relationships – went on a hike in Runyon Canon, where he challenged himself to take the “hardcore” route, echoing the changes to his life.
He reflected: “I gotta give all glory to God for waking me up this morning, my kids having the strength to go to school.
“I usually take the easy route just on the pavement but this is like the hardcore, this is life right here, all of these cliffs and rocks.
“God gave me the strength to get back on my feet. It took a minute but now I’m gonna tackle this hill.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Julia Roberts would do anything to protect her children.
The proud parent – who has Phinnaeus and Hazel, 14, and Henry, 11, her children with husband Danny Moder – has opened up about the motherly instinct to do whatever it takes to make sure her kids are safe.
She told Extra: “Oh, anything! I mean, that is the universal connective tissue of mothers and mother figures in the world.
“There is nothing you would not do to help, save, support, hold your child close.”
Julia’s emotional new movie ‘Ben Is Back’ – in which she co-stars with Lucas Hedges – follows a mother and her drug-addicted son as she does her best to help him.
While it doesn’t reflect her own life, the 51-year-old actress revealed how she has open conversations with her kids whenever they have anything they want to ask.
She said: “They instigate a lot of conversations that Danny and I may not be altogether prepared for.
“He is very good at going right into conversations like that, whereas, I mean, I’ve stopped doing, ‘What? What? Why are you asking that? Who told you that word? What are you talking about?’
“I don’t do that anymore, but I do it inside myself… but they are so thoughtful in their queries that it’s usually an incredible conversation that I’m ultimately so happy to have been invited to because those are the invitations as a parent that you want to have over your lifetime.”
Meanwhile, Julia previously opened up about the idea of age discrimination in Hollywood, and insisted there’s no “bell” that rings to tell you you’re too old for movies.
Speaking about ageism in the movie industry, Julia said: “I think that’s made-up bulls**t that at a certain age, the bell is going to ring and you are done, go on back home.
“It’s silly and I don’t think anybody buys into that. I don’t think I am special. I’ve always been fortunate that I have always found the work I am looking for. I mean, 30 years is a long time and I am grateful and satisfied.”

Anais Gallagher learns to take responsibility for mistakes

OHMYGOSSIP — Anais Gallagher is learning to “take responsibility” for her mistakes.
The 18-year-old model – who is the daughter of Noel Gallagher and his ex-wife Meg Matthews – has been reflective on social media this week as she said holding back by not apologising is “soul destroying”.
She tweeted: “Only recently I’ve realised, living a life in which you don’t apologise nor take responsibility for your mistake is rather soul destroying.
“To own up to your mistakes and to carry on from them is far more pleasing for you and for everyone else around you.”
The star was in an insightful mood, as she also admitted she doesn’t have “any male friends”, and explained that realising this made her reevaluate.
She added: “I’ve never thought Of myself as a ‘girls girl’ but yet I find myself without any male friends… clearly I’ve been lying to myself.”
Meanwhile, Anais recently revealed she was turning her focus to being a photographer, and learning the craft at the Camberwell College of Arts in south London.
She said: “I’m just powering on with university and putting most work on hold at the moment so I can focus on my photography studies. I’m not sure particularly what I want to do yet but I’m trying to go down that route.”
She also previously insisted that although people know her name because of the success of her father, she is “proud” to work hard and “sustain” her career achievements.
She explained: “I think it’s tough for me because in no way am I here by my own right. I’m here with this platform because of my parents … People say, ‘You only did that because of your dad’.
“That’s 100 per cent true, but I’ve only sustained where I am because I’m me. I’m a hard worker and I have my own mind. Like when I wrote about not being able to vote in the general election for Teen Vogue.
“A lot of teachers said I had a pretty face and a lucky last name and that I wasn’t intelligent enough to write, or couldn’t because I’m dyslexic. But that was nothing to do with my name. I wrote it myself and it was published. I was immensely proud of myself.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow has launched a £3,000 “dirty weekend sex kit”.
The 46-year-old star has put together a racy collection of x-rated items on her lifestyle brand Goop with a range of items from a £64 massage oil to a 24-carat gold sex toy costing £2,730
The website says the products – worth a total of £3,341 – are a must-have, adding: “These five clean, nontoxic essentials are virtually guaranteed to ignite and/or reenergise sexual vibes.”
The new collection follows Goop’s announcement it was releasing a “size inclusive” clothing line in collaboration with Universal Standard.
Starting from a UK size 02, it ranges to a size 44 – the largest female dress size offered in the UK.
The essentials range will feature five pieces including a dress, jumpsuit, peacoat and tuxedo jacket with matching trousers and prices start at £187 to £327 and this is the first time Goop has provided sizes over a size 12.
The ‘Iron Man’ star has revealed the aim of the line is to “push the conversation” regarding body positivity into “the mainstream” and to focus on helping women “make choices that make them feel good”.
She said: “Goop is a wellness site with self-care at its core. Our focus is helping women make choices that make them feel good and eliminate shame in their lives, whether that’s linked to sexual health, age, or stress.
“I believe we’re stronger if all archetypes are included, and we’re all able to be seen and lift each other up, which is why we partnered with Universal Standard to create this line of beautifully made pieces.
“We’re excited to work with them in this new capacity, and hope this collaboration continues to push this conversation into the mainstream.”

Sarah Hyland ‘broken’ by online backlash following cousin death

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Hyland is taking a break from social media “for a while” after she was slammed for urging fans to donate money to help with funeral costs following the death of her 14-year-old cousin.
The ‘Modern Family’ actress was left devastated over the weekend after her relative, Trevor Canaday, was killed in a car crash, which she alleged was the fault of a drunk driver, and she shared the teen’s GoFundMe page, which aims to fund his funeral and medical expenses.
But Sarah – who donated $1,000 to the cause – has been left “broken” after she was hit with a negative backlash from several social media users, and has vowed to stay offline.
She tweeted: “I’d like to ask those who have negative thoughts or opinions about the tragedy that happened to my family, to keep them to themselves. You don’t know all the details. And how dare you attack when a beautiful life has been lost.
“You guys finally did it. Your horrible negative ignorant words have broken me. Happy? Staying offline for a while. I have a special announcement and video releasing on Wednesday I believe. So. There’s that. (sic)”
Sarah had taken to her Instagram Stories to encourage her six million followers to donate to Trevor’s GoFundMe page.
She wrote: “This is my 14 year old cousin Trevor. Yesterday, he was killed by a drunk driver. My uncle is still in the hospital in need of more surgeries. (sic)”
But several social media users have blasted the 28-year-old actress for urging fans to donate.
One tweeted: “You only have yourself to blame for this backlash, unless there’s some massive detail we’re all missing. Asking complete strangers to contribute to the funeral expenses of your own family member which you could easily pay for yourself is low-class and unconscionable.(sic)”
Another wrote: “If you didn’t want negativity then do the right thing and pay for the entire amount. No brainer. You can obviously afford to and it’s weird to put your name to it asking for donations when you earn 100 times more than the ppl you’re soliciting donations from (sic)”
Trevor’s GoFundMe page, which has raised more than $35,000, was set up by Tessa Canaday, her sister Zoee and mum Becky, the siblings and mother of Trevor and daughters and wife of his dad Bryan, who is “recovering physically” following the crash.
It reads: “On Saturday 12/1 Trevor and his dad were driving to a show choir event and were involved in a serious car accident due to a drunk driver.
“His dad, Bryan, is recovering physically, but sadly Trevor has gained his wings and is singing and playing some crazy football in heaven.
“We are looking to help his mom, Becky, with funeral and hospital expenses in any way we can! We hope to have the funeral entirely covered and then will move forward with covering medical expenses from keeping Trevor stable and from dads surgery’s and rest at the hospital (UNMC).
“We will be getting the money to Mom (Becky) as soon as possible with the help of all of you by her being the beneficiary and depositing money into her account to relieve her worries as much as we can. (sic)”
