Mel B says her daughter is an ‘inspiration’

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel B thinks her daughter Phoenix is an “inspiration”.
The 43-year-old pop star has taken to her Instagram account to gush about her 19-year-old daughter, who recently claimed she saw her stepdad Stephen Belafonte attacking Mel during their turbulent marriage.
Mel – who divorced Stephen in 2017 and has Phoenix with her first husband, Jimmy Gulzar – wrote on the photo-sharing website: “When your baby girl is no longer a baby[crying emoji]ahhh my @phoenixg6 my beautiful 19 year old WOMAN oh how you have grown into such a strong independent lady, sooo brave and soooo courageous I’m beyond proud of you my love,I no how important it was in my book “brutally honest”for you to have your OWN chapter and your OWN voice herd, and you did it my love!!your such an inspiration to many others now to speak out, your a true opinionated fighter wow,I’m speechless, Phoenix our life is now as a family is onward and upward yipppeeee (sic)”
Recently, Phoenix accused Stephen of pushing her mother “over the couch” during an argument.
She said: “I was maybe 14 or 15. I was in my bedroom. I could hear them fighting. My mum came downstairs to the kitchen followed by Stephen.
“I looked through the crack halfway up the stairs – where I could just see the kitchen – to check if everything was OK, which it was, then returned to my room.
“I heard more screaming and her shouting, ‘Stop, get off’, and heard little thumps. I went to the stairs again and saw … my mum pushed over the couch. I froze, but then I just went back [to my room]. This was my family life.”
Meanwhile, Stephen has denied the allegations of abuse – which are detailed in Mel’s new memoir, ‘Brutally Honest’ – and has accused her of lying in order to preserve her own image.
He said: “What she has said to protect her own image, to play the victim was nasty and horrific. I’m dumbfounded.”

Amber Heard: I have a ‘beautiful friendship’ with Elon Musk

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Heard still has a “beautiful friendship” with Elon Musk.
The 32-year-old actress dated the Tesla founder for about a year until August 2017, before the pair reconciled for just a few weeks in early 2018, and she has now said that although they’re no longer an item, they’re still close friends who share a lot of “core values”.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she said: “Elon and I had a beautiful relationship, and we have a beautiful friendship now, one that was based on our core values. Intellectual curiosity, ideas and conversation, a shared love for science. We just bonded on a lot of things that speak to who I am on the inside. I have so much respect for him.”
Her comments come after she previously stated that all her past relationships – which also include a five-year relationship with photographer Tasya Van Ree, and a turbulent marriage to Johnny Depp – turned her into the person she is now.
The ‘Aquaman’ star said: “I’ve had an amazing life, and I’ve had the good fortune to have some amazing people come into my life.
“Even the ones who were less easy or less traditional were important in making me the woman I am today.
“I’m very lucky for the relationships I’ve had. They have given me the muscle and heart to do what I do.”
And Amber admits she isn’t attracted to people who are “healthy” for her.
Asked if her pals know someone is bad for her before she does, she said: “Yeah. It was a running joke among my small group of friends – they call me Calamity.
“With [Tasya], they’d say, ‘That was weird, but it’s not going to get weirder. And then …
“There’s something to be said about who one is drawn to. I’m not necessarily drawn to … healthy. But I have hope. I hope to find an honest attraction to someone who is healthy. I very much want that.”

Will Smith took time off for family

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith had to take “two years off” of work when he realised his family “wasn’t happy” with the direction he was heading in.
The 50-year-old actor helped his family achieve huge success between 2010 and 2012, with his daughter Willow topping the charts with ‘Whip My Hair’, his son Jaden starring in ‘Karate Kid’, and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith acting in TV series ‘Hawthorne’.
And whilst he believed his family were “winning”, it wasn’t until Willow, now 18, stood up to him and “shaved her head bald” in a protest against her hit single and chart success, that he realised his family was unhappy.
Speaking to Haute Living magazine, he said: “One of the major things that happened is that I hit that midlife-crisis point, where I’ve built all of the things I’ve ever dreamed of. And in my family – 2012 I secretly call the year of the mutiny. And 2012 was really the year that my family rejected the direction of my leadership.
“Willow was really the first person during ‘Whip My Hair’ that decided she didn’t want to do what I said,” Smith said. “Because she was the baby girl, she really had the most power over me. As a man – if your daughter says no, there’s really nothing you can do.
“She really tested me. She was like, no she didn’t want to. She was done with ‘Whip My Hair.’ She was done with performing, and as a protest, she shaved her head bald.
“That was really the first time that I realised that my family wasn’t happy with the direction that I was taking them. I felt like I was winning. We were succeeding.
“We had ‘Karate Kid’. We had ‘Whip My Hair.’ Jada had ‘Hawthorne,’ and we hosted when Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize – we hosted all of that in one year. I felt we were doing well, and my family wasn’t happy. So, I took two years off.”
Will’s comments come after Willow recently reflected on her time in the spotlight, and said she had to “forgive” her parents for pushing her into fame when she was just 10 years old.
She told her mother: “I definitely had to forgive you and daddy for that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing. It was mostly daddy because he was so harsh at certain times. It was a couple of years, honestly. Trying to regain trust for not feeling like I was being listened to or like no one cared how I felt.”

Christina Aguilera offers message of support to Demi Lovato

OHMYGOSSIP — Christina Aguilera has offered her support to Demi Lovato on social media.
The 26-year-old singer recently took to Instagram to post a picture of herself returning to her beloved martial art of jiu jitsu after completing a 90-day stint in rehab following an apparent overdose which left her hospitalised in January.
On the post, Demi wrote: “Sweaty, messy jiu jitsu hair.. #BJJ #bluebelt #nevergiveup (sic)”
And now, her close friend and fellow singer Christina has commented on the post, offering her support to the ‘Sober’ hitmaker.
In two separate comments, 37-year-old Christina wrote: “I’ve miss you so very much
“And we keep on tickin – till the end of time- I looooove youuuuu!
“Can’t wait to continue to heave you by side now (sic)”
Demi’s original post comes as she earned her blue belt in the sport in 2017, and admitted martial arts has helped her both keep fit and relieve stress.
She said last year: “Being able to do the moves that you do and flow with people, it’s an art form and it’s really beautiful, and it takes my mind off of things that I stress about, [because] I’m constantly thinking: ‘What do I need to defend? What move can I make now?’ It’s like a game of chess.”
Her return to her beloved sport comes after it was previously revealed she has been following a strict fitness regime as she continues to work on her sobriety.
A source said: “She’s been working out with a trainer several days per week, eating right, and truly has a whole different mindset.
“She has been following all of the steps and guidelines put in place by her specialists.”

Nick Knowles booted from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Knowles has been booted from ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’
The 56-year-old television presenter – who is best known for his work on ‘DIY SOS’ and ‘Who Dares Wins’ – has become the sixth celebrity to leave the infamous jungle, as he lost out on a place in this weekend’s final during Thursday’s (06.12.18) episode of the ITV reality competition.
Nick follows in the footsteps of TV legend Noel Edmonds, ‘Hollyoaks’ star Malique Thompson-Dwyer, ‘Coronation Street’ actress Sair Khan, actress Rita Simons, and ‘The Chase’ quiz brain Anne Hegerty, who have all been kicked out of camp since voting opened last week.
The news will likely come as a shock to many viewers, as Nick was an integral part of the camp life, especially when it came to tasks such as cooking the camp’s meals and tending to the fire.
Nick had also performed well in several Bush Tucker Trials over the course of his time in the jungle, and often seemed unfazed by the creepy crawlies that accompanied him in the tasks.
Speaking to presenters Dec Donnelly and Holly Willoughby upon leaving the camp, Nick – who survived 20 days in the camp – said: “The thing that surprised me was the tough bits you don’t see day to day like lugging the wood up hill.
“When I came in here I wanted to see if a whole bunch of people could get together and make friends.”
Now, just five camp mates – Harry Redknapp, Fleur East, Emily Atack, James McVey, and John Barrowman – are left battling it out for a place in Sunday’s (09.12.18) final, where one celebrity will be crowned King or Queen of the jungle.

Eva Longoria praises Time’s Up ‘sisterhood’

OHMYGOSSIP — Eva Longoria has praised the “sisterhood” that has developed thanks to the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements.
The 43-year-old actress has credited the two movements – which were born from the influx of women in Hollywood who came forward to report sexual misconduct last year – with bringing women together in a way they’ve “never been connected” before, as she can now “call any woman” in her industry and get advice.
She said: “What’s come out of the Time’s Up movement, which we launched about a year ago, was this insane sisterhood. We’ve never been connected the way we are now, Reese [Witherspoon] and I, and Natalie Portman and I, women I never knew and never would have known unless we worked together.
“Now you can pick up the phone and call any woman in our industry and go, ‘I need your help, what happened with this?’ Whether it’s negotiations, whether it’s ‘Should I take this role?’, or you know, Me Too moments. So it’s been fascinating.”
And among Latina actresses in particular, the ‘Desperate Housewives’ star says they are coming together to make sure they do more to “mobilise” the vote among Latin Americans ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
Speaking to People magazine, she added: “So the Latina network, we’ve always circulated in each other’s orbits, but now we’re really really close, and we’re actually going to doing a lot for the next … for the upcoming election for mobilising the Latino vote.”
Eva’s comments come after she recently admitted she has a strong sense of self worth, and doesn’t feel any pressure to to lose weight after giving birth to her son Santiago – whom she has with Jose ‘Pepe’ Baston’ – in June.
She said: “I don’t really succumb to any pressure.
“So if people were saying, ‘Hurry up and lose weight,’ I don’t know, because I don’t listen to it.’
“I’ve had some amazing women in my life – my mom, my sisters – who really taught me about my self-worth from very early on in life.
“I come from a family of strong women, so it would have been impossible for me to lose my self-worth.”

G-Eazy takes care of his mother

OHMYGOSSIP — G-Eazy “made it his mission” to take care of his mother, who suffers from chronic pain.
The 29-year-old rapper has said the greatest accomplishment of his career is the fact that he’s in a place where he can provide for his family, including his mother, whom he sends money to “every month” because her battle with chronic pain has left her unable to work.
He said: “My mom lost her job as a fine arts professor and suffers from chronic pain that’s hard for her career. I made it my mission to take care of her and send her money every month.
“Her comfort means everything because she struggled so much to raise my brother and me.”
The ‘No Limit’ hitmaker – whose real name is Gerald Earl Gillum – says he’s been “truly blessed” with his career, but knows the importance of “staying in a good headspace” and keeping his mental health in check.
He added: “I’ve been truly blessed in my life and gotten to do so many cool things at such a young age. I’m excited about the process of working on this next album, but also of bettering myself and staying in a good headspace.
“When you’re a performer, especially if you’re touring, life can be kind of like ‘Groundhog Day’, where you’re doing more or less the same thing every day. You’re performing the same exact songs, and even the crowds start to look the same. Chances are it’s fun, but there’s that repetition. That repetition can be a grind and the grind can really get to you.”
And G-Eazy knows he needs to practice “self-care”, and always makes sure to give himself space to “quiet down”.
Speaking to Michigan Avenue magazine, the ‘I Mean It’ rapper said: “The key is self-care. It’s hard because you position yourself to be in a place to receive these blessings, but you also have to learn to say no. You need space to quiet down. I’ve seen what happens to artists who burn out, and it’s not pretty. For me, it’s a matter of remembering that little kid who, at 13 or 14, got up onstage. It’s about prioritising Gerald as much as I prioritise G-Eazy … and in this game, that can be tough.”

Gabrielle Union never considered giving up motherhood dreams

OHMYGOSSIP — Gabrielle Union never considered giving up on having a baby.
The 46-year-old actress went through nine miscarriages before she and her husband Dwayne Wade turned to surrogacy to have their daughter Kaavia, who was born on November 7, but she insists she never once gave up the hope that she would one day be a mother.
When asked in an interview with Oprah Winfrey if she’d ever considered giving up, she said: “No. I’m one of those people that, I failed at all kinds of things, repeatedly. I’ve just always been of the mindset because people tell you, ‘You work hard, you do the rights things, you’re a good person, it will happen for you, eventually.’
“I could not let go of this idea of… creating this life within me. That I could feel. That tied me to [Wade]. That he could be a part of. That the world could be a part of it.”
Meanwhile, Gabrielle recently revealed her daughter already has “102 nicknames”.
The ‘Being Mary Jane’ and Dwayne wasted no time in creating plenty of alternative names for Kaavia.
Gabrielle shared on her Instagram account: “She has 102 nicknames including but not limited to Kaav, Kaavi, Kaavi Baby, Kaavi J, Jamie, KJ, Nugget, Nug, Pooters. (sic)”
The actress also explained the origin of Kaavia’s full name, which is Kaavia James Union Wade.
She said: “We wanted to include my family in her name so the “James” is from my uncle James Francis Glass who is also my godfather. Union is her middle name. I’ve waited this long so fo sho I was gonna get in there (sic)”
Gabrielle also gave her followers some tips on how to pronounce her daughter’s name.
She explained: “@kaaviajames pronounced Kah-Vee-Uh James. (sic)”

Kim Kardashian West’s ‘calm’ daughter

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West’s youngest child is “very calm”.
The 38-year-old reality star welcomed her daughter Chicago – who was born via a surrogate mother – into the world in January, and has now said the tot is a “chill” baby, except for when she’s hungry, when she wreaks havoc.
When asked by a fan on Twitter what Chicago – whom Kim has with her husband Kanye West – is like as a child, Kim said: “Very calm except for when she wants food lol She LOVES food! She has the best personality, so easy and chill (sic)”
The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star – who also has daughter North, five, and son Saint, three, with Kanye – is no stranger to heaping praise on her kids, as after her son Saint celebrated his birthday this week, she took to Instagram to say she must have done “something really special to deserve” having him as her son.
She wrote: “Happy Birthday to my favorite boy my Sainty Joon. I must have done something really special to deserve having you as my son. I love you to the galaxy and back. (sic)”
Meanwhile, Kim previously revealed that becoming a mother to her three tots changed her outlook on life, as she says she now “doesn’t give a f**k about anything” other than her family.
She said: “Being a mom just not makes you give a f**ck about anything else but what’s immediately going on inside, like in your home, in your family – like all the other stuff kind of fades away.
“Nothing matters but your family, so I think it really helps you centre and get grounded.”
And Kim believes her authentic nature is one of the reasons behind her success and that of her siblings.
She added: “I think our family is definitely really relatable. I mean we know that we definitely show a side that’s not as relatable, but I think it’s the balance of being in between, of seeing us come up and doing that with us and sharing those experiences with us.
“I think it’s because [fans] can sense our authenticity with one another.”

Kevin Hart steps down as 2019 Oscars host

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Hart has stepped down as host of the 2019 Academy Awards.
The 39-year-old comedian took to Twitter to confirm he will no longer front next year’s Oscars ceremony because he doesn’t want to “be a distraction” following the emergence of past homophobic tweets, and he has said sorry to the LGBTQ community for his previous “insensitive words”.
He tweeted: “I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past. (sic)”
Kevin – who revealed just two days ago he was to host the 2019 Academy Awards, describing the moment as “the opportunity of a lifetime” – also admitted he is hopeful he will be able meet Academy bosses again at some point.
He wrote: “I’m sorry that I hurt people.. I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart. Much love & appreciation to the Academy. I hope we can meet again. (sic)”
Kevin addressed his previous offensive tweets – some of which used the word “gay” as an insult, and all of which have now been deleted – on Thursday (06.12.18) by sharing a video of himself lying on a bed, and insisted he only tries to “spread positivity” nowadays.
Speaking on the Instagram video, he said: “I swear man our world is becoming beyond crazy. I’m not going to let the craziness frustrate me or anger me especially when I worked hard to get to the mental space that I am at now.
“My team calls me, ‘Oh my God, Kevin, the world is upset about tweets you did years ago.’ Oh my God. Guys, I’m almost 40 years old. If you don’t believe that people grow, change, evolve as they get older, I don’t know what to tell you.
“If you want to hold people in a position where they always have to justify or explain their past — then do you.
“I’m the wrong guy, man. I’m in a great place, a great mature place where all I do is spread positivity. If you’re not doing that, you’re not on my page.”
In the caption, he posted: “Stop looking for reasons to be negative…Stop searching for reasons to be angry….I swear I wish you guys could see/feel/understand the mental place that I am in. I am truly happy people….there is nothing that you can do to change that…NOTHING.
“I work hard on a daily basis to spread positivity to all….with that being said. If u want to search my history or past and anger yourselves with what u find that is fine with me. I’m almost 40 years old and I’m in love with the man that I am becoming. You LIVE and YOU LEARN & YOU GROW & YOU MATURE. I live to Love….Please take your negative energy and put it into something constructive. Please….What’s understood should never have to be said. I LOVE EVERYBODY…..ONCE AGAIN EVERYBODY. If you choose to not believe me then that’s on you….Have a beautiful day (sic)”
Kevin announced on Wednesday (05.12.18) he had landed the Oscars gig, and said his late mother Nancy would be smiling from “ear to ear” about the news.
He wrote: “For years I have been asked if I would ever host the Oscars and my answer was always the same.
“I said that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me as a comedian and that it will happen when it’s supposed to. I am so happy to say the day has finally come for me to host the Oscars.
“I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time… To be able to join the legendary list of hosts that have graced the stage is unbelievable.
“I know my mom is smiling from ear to ear right now… I want to thank my family/friends/fans for supporting me & riding with me all this time…
“I will be sure to make this years Oscars a special one. I appreciate the @TheAcademy for the opportunity…. now it’s time to rise to the occasion #Oscars. (sic)”

Finn Wittrock and wife Sarah Roberts ‘expecting first child’

OHMYGOSSIP — Finn Wittrock is to be a dad for the first time.
According to Us Weekly magazine, the ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ actor’s wife Sarah Roberts – who married the star in October 2014 – is pregnant with their first child.
Finn and Sarah met at New York City’s Juilliard School where they were both studying.
The 34-year-old star received more good news earlier this week when it was revealed ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ – in which he plays Hayward – has been nominated for a Golden Globe award for Best Motion Picture for a Drama, and Best Screenplay for a Motion Picture.
He wrote on Twitter: “So proud to be a part of this – congratulations #IfBealeStreetCouldTalk (sic)”
Finn – who has also starred in ‘The Big Short’ and ‘La La Land’ – recently admitted he got into a bit of trouble when he was a youngster.
He said: “It’s scary to raise kids in LA. I got in some trouble, but I could have gotten in a lot more.”
But the ‘American Horror Story’ star managed to convert all his energy into trying to make it as an actor, and playing baseball.
Speaking about starring in movie ‘Write When You Get Work’, he added: “I did play baseball, that was one special skill in the film’s flashback part I can relate to.
“I went to the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. It’s like a magnet school. You had to audition to get in.
“I was a theatre nerd, and the whole school was the castaways from a normal high school, so I became friends with all the other castaways.
“I felt I was always working on a film or finding a play to be in or somewhere to go. I was the first of my friends to drive, so I drove everyone everywhere. It was a good way to grow up – to have lots of activities.”

Ariana Grande’s conflicting year

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande has had both the “best and the worst” year of her life.
The ‘Thank U, Next’ hitmaker has enjoyed great professional success over the last 12 months but has also been dealing with the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller and the breakdown of her engagement to Pete Davison, as well as the ongoing aftermath of a terrorist attack at her concert in May 2017 and she admitted she has “no idea” what she’s doing when it comes to her personal life.
Speaking as she picked up the Woman of the Year award at the Billboard Women In Music 2018 event in New York City on Thursday (06.12.18), she said: “This is really special. I want to say that I find it interesting that this has been one of the best years in my career and one of, like, the worst years in my life.
“I’m just saying that because I feel like a lot of people would look at someone in my position right now, Woman of the Year, an artist that could be at her peak, reaching her, you know, whatever, and think, you know, ‘She’s really got her sh*t together, she’s really on it, she has got it all.’
“I do, but as far as my personal life goes, I really have no idea what the f**k I am doing”
And the 25-year-old star admitted she has “no idea” what’s next in her life but she hopes she can learn to be kinder to herself.
Growing increasingly tearful, she added: “So yeah, it’s been a very conflicting one. I just want to say if you’re someone out there who has no idea what this next chapter is going to bring, you’re not alone in that.
“I look forward to hopefully learning to give some of the love and forgiveness that I have given away so frivolously and easily to men in the past to myself, hopefully, this year.
“I have everything that I ever dreamt of having. And as of late, I’ve discovered that it’s the things that I always had and the people I always had that still make me the happiest. So thank you so much.”
Others honoured at the event – which was hosted by Ellie Goulding – included Kacey Musgraves, Janelle Monae, and Cyndi Lauper.

Lea Seydoux returning for Bond 25

OHMYGOSSIP — Lea Seydoux is to return for ‘Bond 25’.
The 33-year-old actress portrayed Bond girl Dr Madeleine Swann in 2015 movie ‘Spectre’, and she looks set to reprise her role after support from Daniel Craig – who is to play the suave spy for a fifth time in the forthcoming film – and director Cary Joji Fukunaga.
Fukunaga – who will be helming his first Bond movie – told the Daily Mail newspaper: “Lea will be returning.”
Franchise regulars Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris are also set to return for the as-yet untitled 25th movie in the series.
Speaking about the British trio, the director added: “You have some of the best actors in the world here.
“Why wouldn’t I have the best coming back?”
In ‘Spectre’, Seydoux’s psychologist alter-ego Swann got hot and steamy with Bond in the freezing Austrian Alps.
She is the daughter of Mr. White – played by Jesper Christensen – and helped the spy identify the criminal and terrorist organisation SPECTRE.
Fukunaga was named as the hotly-anticipated movie’s new director in September, after Danny Boyle walked away from the project over “creative differences”.
Producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said at the time: “We are delighted to be working with Cary.
“His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure.”
Boyle’s decision to depart the project was announced on the movie’s official Twitter page in August.
The post read: “Michael G Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig today announced that due to creative differences Danny Boyle has decided to no longer direct Bond 25 (sic)”
‘Bond 25’ is scheduled to be released on February 14, 2020.

Timothee Chalamet signs up for French Dispatch

OHMYGOSSIP — Timothée Chalamet is to star in ‘The French Dispatch’.
The ‘Call Me By Your Name’ actor has signed up for one of the lead roles in Wes Anderson’s next live action feature, along with Benicio del Toro, Jeffrey Wright and the director’s frequent collaborators Bill Murray, TIlda Swinton and Frances McDormand.
West is writing the film as well as directing, whild Scott Rudin is on board to produce.
The movie is set in the 1950s and follows a group of journalists at an American newspaper bureau in Paris, though filming is currently taking place in Angouleme in South West France.
It’s unclear if a distribution deal is officially closed but according to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie is expected to be distributed by Fox Searchlight, who have released several of the director’s past films, including his most recent work, ‘Isle of Dogs’.
Timothée can next be seen in ‘Beautiful Boy’ – in which he plays journalist and drug addict Nic Sheff opposite Steve Carell as his father – and the 22-year-old star recently hailed the movie as “extremely important” and wants as many young people as possible to see it.
He said: “I feel the pressure of wanting to get ‘Beautiful Boy’ out there. It’s extremely important, not only for people all across America, but also for people my age.
“We’re going through this, and inherent to that is the difficulty of discussing something that is really upsetting and devastating to a lot of families.
“But I think that’s the importance of art and movies.”
Timothée turned to YouTube for footage of drug addiction and also met with other addicts as part of his research for the role, but quickly released he needed to ignore “stereotypes” to be convincing.
He said: “Oh wait, addiction doesn’t have a face. This isn’t a bridge I have to cross to understand playing this. This is a human illness. Don’t play the stereotype of a drug addict. Play a human who’s addicted to drugs.”

Ace Frehley hoping to get KISS call

OHMYGOSSIP — Ace Frehley is holding out hope he might receive an “emergency phone call” asking him to be part of KISS’s farewell tour.
The 67-year-old rocker – who was a co-founding member of the legendary band and their original lead guitarist – is yet to be asked to take part in the group’s ‘End of the Road World Tour’ next year, but he has built a clause into his contract that would allow him to get out of prior commitments if he was asked to join the ‘I Love It Loud’ hitmakers next summer.
He said: “There’s always a chance I might get that emergency phone call.
“I told my agent to build into my contract, in the event I do get an emergency phone call and KISS wants me to join the tour and take over for Tommy [Thayer], that I can get out of the dates that I have booked for the summer.
“So we’ll see what happens. You know me – I’m the kind of guy that says, ‘Never say never.’
“But at this juncture, I have no plans on performing on the upcoming KISS tour, and I haven’t gotten any phone calls or had any correspondence. So that’s where it stands at this juncture.”
Ace looks set to tour with Alice Cooper over the summer, with plans in place for a five-week run of gigs over July and August, following some solo shows earlier in the year.
Speaking on SiriusXM’s ‘Trunk Nation’, he added: “I have two shows coming up in January on the West Coast.
“We’re doing Seattle, Sacramento, and they might even add some shows and bring us all the way down to San Diego.
“And then I think might be doing some dates with Alice Cooper in the summer. My guys get along with their guys, and I’ve known Alice forever. So that’s always gonna be a lot of fun.
“I think they’re talking about July and August – it’ll be five weeks. So that can be a really special thing.”
In September, Ace – who hasn’t toured with KISS since 2000 – admitted he was hopeful the band would ask him to be a part of their final tour.
He said: “Hopefully next year, what all the KISS fans really want to happen will happen. I’m hoping. I want to be involved, especially for the fans.
“It’s not like my dream job, because I’ve done it a couple of times and quit, but I really want to do it for the fans if it’s going to happen.”
KISS are currently made up of original members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, as well as Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer.

Cyndi Lauper wants women to stick together

OHMYGOSSIP — Cyndi Lauper has urged women in music to “stick together”.
The ‘Time After Time’ hitmaker was honoured with the Icon of the Year Award at Billboard’s 2018 Women in Music event in New York City on Thursday (06.12.18) and reflected on how record labels used to sign “quotas” of female acts but praised the power of “sisterhood” and how much stronger women are when they promote one another.
She said: “When I was starting they had quotas of women they would sign. I actually did a showcase and the guy said to me, ‘well, we got Debbie, Patti — we got our quota of women.’ That’s where it was.
“I guess it’s kind of still like that, but you [honorees] are kicking down doors and that is awesome. I strongly believed my whole life that sisterhood is a powerful thing…
“We need to share our stories and stick together and promote each other. I stand on the shoulder of women who came before me, as you guys are standing on mine and others will come and stand on yours…
“To all the women, please remember — we shouldn’t be against each other, we should help each other.”
The 65-year-old singer had accepted the award from Dua Lipa and told the ‘New Rules’ hitmaker she’d be “standing here one day” before admitting she didn’t know what it was like to be an icon.
She said: “I always get asked, ‘What does it feel like to be an icon?’ I didn’t know how to answer that. See now? I can hand them this and say, ‘Here, hold this.’ ”
Elsewhere at the event – where the likes of Ariana Grande and Janelle Monae were also honoured – Kacey Musgraves was given the Innovator Award and felt she’d been presented with the accolade because she isn’t afraid to take risks.
She said: “This is crazy — I mean, women are f***ing awesome.
“I feel really hopeful and proud about the state of the modern woman. Her bravery, her unapologetic celebration of rights. Her life, her mind, and her art. And definitely most of all, her realness. And I’ve been craving realness for so long.”
“[Innovator], that’s a heavy word. Innovator to me means having the courage to take risks, knowing that it could completely fail, and doing it anyway. I mean, what’s the point of any of this if you’re not able to be who you are?”
