Bradley Cooper relishes the challenge of balancing acting and directing

OHMYGOSSIP — Bradley Cooper loves the challenge of balancing acting and directing.
The 43-year-old star helmed his first movie, the musical drama ‘A Star Is Born’, earlier this year, and Bradley has admitted to relishing his work in front of, and behind, the camera.
The Hollywood star – who also played a central on-screen role in the film – explained: “I’ve never been more fulfilled and have it feel more natural. I love acting, and I love acting and directing.”
The movie also saw Lady Gaga star in her first major movie role as a nightclub singer-songwriter.
Bradley admitted they both took a significant risk with the project, and that their personal relationship was key to the film’s success.
He told Screen Daily: “Clearly, we were both entering into worlds we didn’t know, and each person had been very comfortable in their world for at least a decade – or two, in my case.
“I hope that gave her comfort in the way she gave me comfort.”
Bradley explained that his honest and open approach with Gaga was the key to their on-set relationship.
He shared: “I knew right away we were going to tell each other the truth; there’s no reason not to because eventually everybody’s going to say what they really think.
“I was convincing her it was working and she was the same about me, so we provided a great barometer [for each other].”

Sarah Silverman: Failure is an opportunity

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Silverman sees failure as “an opportunity”.
The 48-year-old comedy star – who voices the part of a glitchy racer in the new computer-animated movie ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ – has revealed she’s always been keen to take the positives from any situation, even if it’s considered to be a failure.
She said: “Every failure is an opportunity – you’re either gonna sink or rise to the occasion.”
The American star admitted that her upbeat outlook is helped by the fact she’s never taken a long-term approach to her life or her career.
In fact, Sarah thinks it’s important to take risks and to embrace the possibility of failing.
She told ShortList magazine: “I did go through a little bit of not knowing how I was gonna make money.
“I’m lucky in that I don’t really think about the future much. I never have. I never think: ‘Where will I be in five years?’ I always just keep my head down, do stand-up, and things just happen.”
Sarah revealed she’s taken inspiration from the acclaimed screenwriter Charlie Kaufman, admitting that his outlook has been a “life-changer”.
Sarah – who is one of the world’s best-known stand-up comedians – said: “One of my favourite quotes is from Charlie Kaufman, who said something like: ‘Do not fear failure; failure is a badge of honour. It means you risked failure.’ And that’s a life-changer if you take it in.”

Amber Heard says Jason Mamoa’s pranks drove her crazy on Aquaman set

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Heard admits Jason Momoa’s pranks drove her “crazy” while they were filming ‘Aquaman’.
The 32-year-old actress and Jason, 39, had “so much fun” during the ‘Aquaman’ shoot, but she also found his demand for attention to be tiring at times.
Amber – who portrays Mera in the new superhero film – told ‘Good Morning America’: “We have so much fun together, but he is allergic to being ignored.
“I’m a bookworm. I love to read, so whenever there’s a break on set, I like to read.
“He quickly learned … so he ripped out the pages of my book so I’d pay attention to him, and it would drive me crazy because I’d have 30 pages left and they’d be gone.”
Amber also revealed that because the crew knew how much she loved to read between takes – even when suspended on a harness – they made her a special book bag out of her costume material so she could have her novels within easy reach.
The Hollywood star gushed: “Wardrobe made me a book bag built out of the green screen material so that I could sling it over me and carry it around and bring out my book.”
Amber – who was at first hesitant to join the cast of ‘Aquaman’ – admitted writer Zack Snyder convinced her to take on the role, telling her she was going to play a true “badass”.
She said: “Zack Snyder – who cast ‘Justice League’ – introduced my character…
“I said ‘you’ve definitely called the wrong person because this is just not for me…’
“And then he was like: ‘No, no, no this is a different character. She’s a real badass, she is no damsel in distress.'”

Bruno Tonioli’s moves mean Shirley Ballas has ‘most dangerous job in TV’

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruno Tonioli thinks Shirley Ballas has “the most dangerous job in TV” because of his erratic movements on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The BBC ballroom competition’s judge is known for being very animated with when he is giving feedback, and he admitted his co-star is in a tough position having to sit next to him on the panel.
Speaking to Steve Wright on BBC Radio 2, he said: “I think poor Shirley has the most dangerous job in TV. I think she’s got almost decapitated quite a few times.
“The reason [it’s happening more] is this series is probably one of the most exciting we’ve ever had. It’s so wonderful seeing the competitors always deliver such exciting performances, I can’t help but express myself physically. Poor Shirley, she’s a specialist in diving and ducking!”
The 63-year-old star – who has appeared on the show since its launch in 2004 – also weighed in on the controversy surrounding Ashley Roberts.
The former Pussycat Dolls star has found herself in the dance off two weeks in a row despite being popular with the panel, as some viewers pointed out her previous training as part of her music career.
However, Bruno admitted he and his fellow judges have to judge each dance on its own rather than taking other factors into consideration.
He explained: “You can’t, because you have to watch each dance and just comment on what you see! I can’t just have a personal vendetta against somebody.
“Most people that are in the entertainment industry as actors or singers have some sort of training, come on. We’ve had it before. It happens every time…
“Personally I can only watch what is presented in front of me and react towards that. I can’t have in my mind… then you exclude so many people. Look at the dancing!”

Ellen Pompeo blasts reverse racism

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellen Pompeo has hit out against so-called reverse racism.
The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star has recalled the moment she called out the A&E Network over a documentary about the Ku Klux Klan, and she was heavily criticised for celebrating the programme being pulled by tweeting a black fist emoji.
Speaking on Facebook Watch show ‘Red Table Talk’, she said: “I’m not appropriating culture. I’m just joining the fight.
“If you call me a white b***h then isn’t that judging me on the colour of my skin? Why can’t I help a victory for black people because I’m white?”
Ellen, 49, was met with a fierce backlash over her tweet and subsequent response to criticism, as she told one critic to not be “a hater”.
She tweeted: “Don’t be a hater I do it because racism is not just a black problem it is all of our problem get it??? (sic)”
She later added: “I’m so sad that people attacked me over standing up for equality I’m sad that people chose anger and I’m sorry if I offended anyone. (sic)”
The row occurred shortly after Ellen discussed diversity in Hollywood for Porter Magazine’s Women in Television issue alongside Gabrielle Union, Gina Rodriguez and Emma Roberts.
She argued: “This day has been incredible. And there’s a ton of women in the room. But I don’t see enough colour. And I didn’t see enough colour when I walked in the room today [and saw the staff].
“As Caucasian people, it’s our job, it’s our task, it’s our responsibility to speak up in every single room we walk into. It’s our job because we created the problem.
“When I show up on set, I would like to see the crew look like the world that I walk around in every day, and I think it’s up to all productions to make sure that your crew looks like the world we see. It’s the first thing I notice when I walk in a room.”

Julia Garner stars in the 2019 Pirelli calendar

OHMYGOSSIP — Julia Garner is among the big-name stars who appears in the new Pirelli calendar.
The 2019 edition of the iconic calendar features striking images of the 24-year-old actress, as well as the likes of Gigi Hadid, ballerina Misty Copeland and French actress Laetitia Casta, all of whom were shot by Scottish photographer Albert Watson.
Speaking about the calendar, Albert said: “When I approached this project, I wanted to do it in a way that was different from other photographers.”
Albert wanted to create something “more interesting” than models “taking their tops off” and decided to take a cinematic approach to the images.
The photographer said he hoped to explore femininity in the post-MeToo era.
He explained: “I wanted to create something that was more than just a portrait of somebody – I wanted it to look like a film still. [With the Pirelli calendar] in the past, the idea was always to do an elegant sophisticated version of a pin up.
“But as that had been done dozens of times in the past, it didn’t seem the right thing to take a bunch of supermodels down to the beach to take their tops off.
“It didn’t seem to be the right thing to do that. And therefore I thought it was more interesting to do a cinema approach, to do four short films that the stills came from.”
The calendar was officially launched at a gala at HangarBicocca in Milan, Italy, on Wednesday (05.12.18), and Gigi was among the star-studded list of attendees.
Albert wanted to create an elegant set of pictures and Julia admitted that being photographed for the calendar was a welcome change from her role as Ruth Langmore in the drama series ‘Ozark’.
She said: “In ‘Ozark’, I look at myself and I think: ‘Ohhh I look terrible.’ I make myself look terrible [in the show]. These [pictures] are all beautiful.
“And it is weird to say: ‘These are all beautiful images’ when they are of me. But Albert has a vision.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel B thinks her daughter Phoenix is an “inspiration”.
The 43-year-old pop star has taken to her Instagram account to gush about her 19-year-old daughter, who recently claimed she saw her stepdad Stephen Belafonte attacking Mel during their turbulent marriage.
Mel – who divorced Stephen in 2017 and has Phoenix with her first husband, Jimmy Gulzar – wrote on the photo-sharing website: “When your baby girl is no longer a baby[crying emoji]ahhh my @phoenixg6 my beautiful 19 year old WOMAN oh how you have grown into such a strong independent lady, sooo brave and soooo courageous I’m beyond proud of you my love,I no how important it was in my book “brutally honest”for you to have your OWN chapter and your OWN voice herd, and you did it my love!!your such an inspiration to many others now to speak out, your a true opinionated fighter wow,I’m speechless, Phoenix our life is now as a family is onward and upward yipppeeee (sic)”
Recently, Phoenix accused Stephen of pushing her mother “over the couch” during an argument.
She said: “I was maybe 14 or 15. I was in my bedroom. I could hear them fighting. My mum came downstairs to the kitchen followed by Stephen.
“I looked through the crack halfway up the stairs – where I could just see the kitchen – to check if everything was OK, which it was, then returned to my room.
“I heard more screaming and her shouting, ‘Stop, get off’, and heard little thumps. I went to the stairs again and saw … my mum pushed over the couch. I froze, but then I just went back [to my room]. This was my family life.”
Meanwhile, Stephen has denied the allegations of abuse – which are detailed in Mel’s new memoir, ‘Brutally Honest’ – and has accused her of lying in order to preserve her own image.
He said: “What she has said to protect her own image, to play the victim was nasty and horrific. I’m dumbfounded.”

Amber Heard: I have a ‘beautiful friendship’ with Elon Musk

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Heard still has a “beautiful friendship” with Elon Musk.
The 32-year-old actress dated the Tesla founder for about a year until August 2017, before the pair reconciled for just a few weeks in early 2018, and she has now said that although they’re no longer an item, they’re still close friends who share a lot of “core values”.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she said: “Elon and I had a beautiful relationship, and we have a beautiful friendship now, one that was based on our core values. Intellectual curiosity, ideas and conversation, a shared love for science. We just bonded on a lot of things that speak to who I am on the inside. I have so much respect for him.”
Her comments come after she previously stated that all her past relationships – which also include a five-year relationship with photographer Tasya Van Ree, and a turbulent marriage to Johnny Depp – turned her into the person she is now.
The ‘Aquaman’ star said: “I’ve had an amazing life, and I’ve had the good fortune to have some amazing people come into my life.
“Even the ones who were less easy or less traditional were important in making me the woman I am today.
“I’m very lucky for the relationships I’ve had. They have given me the muscle and heart to do what I do.”
And Amber admits she isn’t attracted to people who are “healthy” for her.
Asked if her pals know someone is bad for her before she does, she said: “Yeah. It was a running joke among my small group of friends – they call me Calamity.
“With [Tasya], they’d say, ‘That was weird, but it’s not going to get weirder. And then …
“There’s something to be said about who one is drawn to. I’m not necessarily drawn to … healthy. But I have hope. I hope to find an honest attraction to someone who is healthy. I very much want that.”

Will Smith took time off for family

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith had to take “two years off” of work when he realised his family “wasn’t happy” with the direction he was heading in.
The 50-year-old actor helped his family achieve huge success between 2010 and 2012, with his daughter Willow topping the charts with ‘Whip My Hair’, his son Jaden starring in ‘Karate Kid’, and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith acting in TV series ‘Hawthorne’.
And whilst he believed his family were “winning”, it wasn’t until Willow, now 18, stood up to him and “shaved her head bald” in a protest against her hit single and chart success, that he realised his family was unhappy.
Speaking to Haute Living magazine, he said: “One of the major things that happened is that I hit that midlife-crisis point, where I’ve built all of the things I’ve ever dreamed of. And in my family – 2012 I secretly call the year of the mutiny. And 2012 was really the year that my family rejected the direction of my leadership.
“Willow was really the first person during ‘Whip My Hair’ that decided she didn’t want to do what I said,” Smith said. “Because she was the baby girl, she really had the most power over me. As a man – if your daughter says no, there’s really nothing you can do.
“She really tested me. She was like, no she didn’t want to. She was done with ‘Whip My Hair.’ She was done with performing, and as a protest, she shaved her head bald.
“That was really the first time that I realised that my family wasn’t happy with the direction that I was taking them. I felt like I was winning. We were succeeding.
“We had ‘Karate Kid’. We had ‘Whip My Hair.’ Jada had ‘Hawthorne,’ and we hosted when Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize – we hosted all of that in one year. I felt we were doing well, and my family wasn’t happy. So, I took two years off.”
Will’s comments come after Willow recently reflected on her time in the spotlight, and said she had to “forgive” her parents for pushing her into fame when she was just 10 years old.
She told her mother: “I definitely had to forgive you and daddy for that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing. It was mostly daddy because he was so harsh at certain times. It was a couple of years, honestly. Trying to regain trust for not feeling like I was being listened to or like no one cared how I felt.”

Joe Jonas ‘overwhelmed’ by brother Nick Jonas’ wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Jonas was “overwhelmed with emotion” during his best man speech at his brother Nick Jonas’ wedding to Priyanka Chopra.
The 29-year-old singer watched his younger brother and former Jonas Brother band mate Nick, 26, get married to the ‘Baywatch’ actress in two separate ceremonies – a Hindu one and a Christian one – over the weekend, and has now said he “blacked out for a minute” during his important speech as best man, because he was so emotional over the “beautiful wedding”.
Speaking during an appearance on the ‘Today’ show on Thursday (06.12.18), Joe – who is currently engaged to Sophie Turner – said: “It’s been a pretty big week. It’s been amazing. Marrying Nick off to Priyanka, it’s been fantastic. Obviously, this has been one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever seen and to be a part of it was a dream.
“I was the best man and I had a lot of responsibilities. But mostly, it was trying to figure out what and where to be at different times and kind of collecting, he had about 12 groomsmen, so a lot of wrangles.
“[During my speech] I kind of blacked out for a minute because I was just overwhelmed with emotion. This is not only my brother, best friend, and to see him marrying his dream girl, there was a lot of tears the whole weekend, and a lot of smiles. So I have it on paper, which was the most important part. It was a special week.”
Meanwhile, the couple recently admitted they found their Western nuptials – which were officiated by the ‘Jealous’ singer’s father – particularly emotional.
Priyanka, 36, said: “It was all tears. All tears.
“I could not hold it in. I think I was nervous and scared. But as soon as the curtains opened, and I saw his face it was just like everything settled and I knew I was making the best decision of my life.”
Whilst Nick added: “The emotions were running high during the ceremonies, I think especially during the Western wedding for me. You know you think your whole life about that moment. Honestly, I could not have imagined it would be as perfect as it was. It was highly emotional.”

Rumer Willis: I’ve made Bruce Willis cry with my singing

OHMYGOSSIP — Rumer Willis has made her father Bruce Willis “cry a couple of times” when she performs on stage.
The 30-year-old actress has claimed that despite her 63-year-old father’s reputation for playing tough characters, he’s an emotional man at heart, as she’s made him shed a tear on more than one occasion thanks to her singing.
She said: “I think I’ve made him cry a couple times especially when I’ve been singing ’cause all of my music taste is from him. So whenever I’ve done cabaret-type shows, I always try and pick a few that he showed me and he gets excited.”
Rumer – whose mother is Bruce’s ex-wife Demi Moore, with whom he also has daughters Scout, 27, and Tallulah, 24 – loves performing with her family in the audience, but admits she does still get nervous, no matter who is in the crowd.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, the star – who is currently performing in ‘Love Actually Live’ – said: “I feel like, in general, I always get those kind of butterfly excitement nerves. But I love it when you have people in the audience. I definitely get a little more geared up and want to put on a great show for them.”
Meanwhile, ‘Die Hard’ star Bruce and his current wife Emma Heming recently admitted home life with their daughters Mabel Ray, six, and Evelyn, four, is full of nothing but “laughter and chatter”.
Emma said: “Our home is really filled with joy and the laughter and chatter of little girls being themselves, in a place we created with them in mind.”

Sarah Silverman believes Hollywood sex scandal reflects bigger problem

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Silverman thinks the Hollywood sex scandal is a reflection of a broader problem.
The 48-year-old comedy star has suggested that the horrors of the sex scandal are being repeated in other industries across America, but she’s pleased to have seen a change in behaviour and attitudes since the issue exploded in 2017 in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein expose.
Asked whether she’s witnessed any changes since the first allegations emerged, Sarah replied: “Yeah. I see a lot of change. I do think that’s good.
“I understand that showbusiness was very problematic, but I would guess every business is wildly problematic, and in our business there’s publicity and exposure. It’s not as sexy if you’re working at the doughnut shop to tell someone about what your boss is doing.”
Sarah suggested that sexual abuse and harassment could easily be overlooked in other, less glamorous lines of work.
She told ShortList magazine: “I worry about the rest of the world. There’s proper shaming that has to be involved. There has to be pressure. And now that there are men understanding that there are consequences to their actions, that’s when there’s change. And you know what? Good.”
The ‘Masters of Sex’ star’s own friend and comedy peer Louis C.K. was accused of sexual harassment by a handful of women who claimed he masturbated in front of them without their consent.
