Sharon D. Clarke returning to Holby City to celebrate 20th anniversary

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon D. Clarke is returning to ‘Holby City’ to celebrate the medical drama’s 20th anniversary next year.
The 52-year-old actress will be making her first appearance as Dr. Lola Griffin since her departure in 2008 as the BBC One series celebrates the milestone and will feature in one episode to hold a mirror up to ex-husband Dr. Ric Griffin, who is played by longest-serving cast member Hugh Quarshie, reflecting on his years at the hospital.
Clarke has most recently been seen on screen in this year’s series of ‘Doctor Who’ playing Grace O’Brien – the murdered wife of Bradley Walsh’s alter ego Graham O’Brien – but she admits she is thrilled to be “treading the wards” again as Lola and getting the chance to work with Hugh again.
She said: “I spent three-and-a-half happy years playing Lola. She was the kind of woman I would have loved to have seen on my screen when I was growing up. I was very proud to bring her to life and be a part of the ‘Holby’ family. I’m so excited to be treading the wards again, and seeing what Lola will be getting up to for Holby’s 20th Anniversary. Hey, Ric, Lola’s back in town!”
And Lola is not the only former character returning to the programme as part of the anniversary celebrations that will culminate in a very special 1000th episode in autumn 2019.
Denis Lawson will be reprising his role as cardiothoracic consultant Tom Campbell-Gore, last seen towards the end of series six back in 2004.
Having spent the last 14 years rebuilding his reputation, Tom meets old rival Ric, who he must compete against to win crucial funding at an Innovation Conference, and introduces new surgeon Ange Godard (Dawn Steele) to Holby.
Speaking about his comeback, Lawson said: “I have great memories of my time on ‘Holby City’ and I’m delighted to be back on my old stomping ground with the ‘Holby’ cast and crew.”
Simon Harper – Executive Producer of ‘Holby City’ and ‘Casualty’ – says plans are underway to give the audience a “whole year of anniversary treats” and the two confirmed returns are just the start of the surprises.
Harper said: “It’s so exciting to celebrate the continued success of ‘Holby City’ – one of the UK’s most beloved medical dramas. We want to give the audience a whole year of anniversary treats, paying homage to the show’s heritage with some delicious returning characters – but also celebrating the new, working towards the 1000th episode around Bonfire Night… which is set to be an explosive story indeed! It’s a massive thrill to have Denis back, not only as one of our country’s foremost actors but also as one of Holby’s original bad boys in the show’s early years! Tom Campbell-Gore hasn’t changed a bit since he left ‘Holby’ 15 years ago and definitely has some scores to settle with Ric … And it’s such a coup to have Sharon here again too, it’s fantastic too given how in demand she is – not only is she a fabulous actor and a much loved tender, funny ‘Holby’ character but we clearly couldn’t let the anniversary pass without the appearance of one of Ric’s many ex-wives to ruffle his feathers.”

Dolly Parton’s brother Floyd Parton dies aged 61

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolly Parton’s brother Floyd Parton has died aged 61.
The songwriter passed away on December 6 and in an obituary published by Atchley Funeral Home, of Sevierville, Tennessee, he was hailed as “a renaissance man”, as well as “man of many talents and areas of knowledge”.
The obituary read: “He was an avid outdoorsman and had an abundant knowledge of nature as well as being an incredible cook.”
Among the most famous tracks that Floyd penned during his career was ‘Rockin’ Years’, which was recorded by Dolly and Ricky Van Shelton in 1991.
No cause of death has yet been revealed, and Dolly – who is currently in the midst of promoting the soundtrack to the the Netflix drama ‘Dumplin” – has not yet commented on her brother’s passing.
Floyd’s death comes shortly after the 72-year-old star admitted she feels “grateful” to be alive and that she has no plans to retire because she still enjoys her career so much.
She said: “It’ll happen when it happens. That’s how I feel. I am grateful that I am still here. So many people have more talent than I’ve ever dreamed of having that never get to see dreams come true.
“There’s a whole lot to be said for loving your work and having confidence in yourself. I never once thought of retiring…
“I just hope I fall dead in the middle of a song, hopefully one I wrote, right on stage. That’s the way I go!”
On the other hand, the ‘Jolene’ hitmaker admitted she would think about slowing down if her husband needed her.
Dolly – who has been married to Carl Thomas Dean since 1966 – shared: “If my husband needed me, or someone in my family, I would put him first. I’ve always put myself first and my career first, but if something were to happen to him, I would pull back on that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Miley Cyrus wants to have a “real relationship” with Ariana Grande.
The ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ hitmaker teamed up with the pop megastar on a cover of ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ last year – which they performed together at the One Love Manchester concert last June, which was organised by Ariana in response to the bombing after her concert at Manchester Arena two weeks earlier – and has revealed the pair have a “new” song, which she’d love to dance to at a club to with the ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ singer.
Rather than work with Ariana, 25, Miley would prefer to befriend her peer as she admits they could both “use a friend” after Miley recently lost her Malibu home in the California wildfires, and Ariana’s ex-boyfriend Mac Miller’s death and split from her fiancé Pete Davidson.
Asked if they plan to collaborate together, Miley, 26, told Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show on Monday (10.12.18): “She’s here in New York actually and we’ve been texting.
“I just want to go to the club with her. I want to play our new song and go to the club.
“I’ve been trying to start a real relationship and not ask her to work or collaborate too much.
“I feel like she could use a friend and I could use a friend, I’d love to start that relationship with her.”
Meanwhile, the former child star revealed she will be spending the festive holiday in Tennessee with her family and fiancé Liam Hemsworth.
The ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer also admitted that she and the 28-year-old actor are not thinking about planning their wedding anytime soon, due to their busy work schedules.
She said: “I’m very much in this space of work, so not too much.
“He has a new movie coming out too.”

Stan Lee ‘makes multiple cameos in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’

OHMYGOSSIP — Stan Lee makes multiple cameo appearances in ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’.
The iconic comic book writer – who passed away on November 12 – is set to make numerous appearances in the new computer-animated superhero film, according to directors Bob Persichetti and Rodney Rothman.
Rodney shared: “Stan Lee has more than one cameo in the movie.”
In fact, Bob gave moviegoers some more specific details about when Stan appears in the film.
He told Collider: “The easiest to spot, because you don’t have to stop the film, is when Peter [Parker] and Miles [Morales] are on the ground on the sidewalk, after they’d fallen from the train, there’s a dog who smells them with a guy who walks over them. That’s Stan again. On his way home from work.
“But then I will say, there are many, many train scenes. Subway shots. If you just pause, he’s in a lot of them. That guy is all over New York. He’s a busy man.”
Meanwhile, Peter Ramsey – the third of the film’s directors – has admitted the creative process behind making the movie was “insanely organic”.
He continued: “It’s all a really free-flowing sort of thing that we all just shepherded along and threw things in the pot, stir, and stir, and taste it. See where we are, then it’ll bounce back to pages.
“It’s one of those things that it’s like, it really was all about the film as a process in and of itself rather than, ‘Here we have a finished script. Now we will do exactly what’s on the page and nothing more.’
“It was much more alive than that.”

Naughty Boy: Streaming gives everyone a fair shot

OHMYGOSSIP — Naughty Boy believes streaming has given every artist a “fair shot”.
The ‘La La La’ producer – whose real name is Shahid Khan – has found it “fascinating” witnessing the changes in the music industry over the years, and thinks apps like Spotify and Apple Music, and even YouTube, have given aspiring artists and producers they same opportunity as the world’s biggest stars to get their music heard.
He said: “It’s been fascinating watching the music industry develop over the past decade.
“Streaming gives everyone a fair shot and aspiring producers can now be recognised more easily from sharing their art online – sites like YouTube give new musicians a platform.
“On a personal level, I’ve got hundreds of thousands of loyal followers on my YouTube channel – knowing I’m reaching the people who care about my music as soon as I upload a video is what makes me tick.”
The 33-year-old studio wizard has worked with the likes of Beyonce, Sam Smith and Emeli Sande, but he insists it’s still important to “challenge” himself.
Asked what advice he would give to aspiring producers, he said: “When it comes to creating music, I’d say to always challenge yourself and think outside the box – you can get inspiration from anywhere.
“Also, make sure you take on new opportunities: I’d never have thought, after ten years in the industry, that I’d be making a track out of coach sounds. “Opportunity is around every corner.”
One way he’s challenged himself recently was by teaming up with Trainline to record the song ‘via M40’ – a track mixed with coach sounds from the app’s most popular route, London to Birmingham – to launch their coach service.
Shahid managed to get some cool noises out of a hovercraft, plus seatbelt clicking, passenger chatter, toilets flushing and horns beeping, and even thinks he could make an entire album from the various sounds.
Asked if he’d like to make a record with Trainline, he replied: “Sure, I love a challenge! There are some cool noises we could get from the hovercraft.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Jauregui feels “super proud” of Camila Cabello for her Grammy Award nominations.
The 22-year-old singer has praised her former Fifth Harmony bandmate after Camila received two nods for the upcoming awards bash, for Best Pop Solo Performance for ‘Havana’ and Best Pop Vocal Album her debut solo record ‘Camila’.
Speaking to E! News, Lauren explained: “I’m super proud of her. I’m grateful that she got into a place in her career where she’s happy and she doing what she wants to do. It’s amazing that she got nominated.”
Another of Camila’s former bandmates, Normani, has also congratulated the chart-topping star on her latest achievement.
Asked whether she’d offered her congratulations to Camila, Normani said: “Yes! Why not? Why wouldn’t I? I love her so much.”
Meanwhile, Lauren previously defended Little Mix after they stripped bare for the promo for their single ‘Strip’.
After the girl group received backlash on Twitter for their decision to show their skin, Lauren spoke out, saying their clothing choices don’t make them any “less empowered”.
One critic wrote: “‘Little Mix strip naked and are scrawled with insults.’ Yet again, young women pretend that going naked empowers them. It doesn’t. It’s just another cheap way to sell themselves. But I suppose it makes a nice change from this group dressing like hookers.”
To which Lauren replied: “If your intention is the empowerment of women, how about you don’t add yourself to the list of misogynists who deem what is appropriate enough to be ‘respectable’. All forms deserve respect. They are no less empowered because of their clothing choices. Don’t be salty they look [hot]. (sic)”

Chrissy Teigen’s father gets her face tattooed on his arm

OHMYGOSSIP — Chrissy Teigen’s father has gotten his daughter’s face tattooed on his arm.
The 33-year-old model-and-author celebrated her birthday on November 30, and in her honour Ron Teigen Sr. got tattoo artist to the stars, Mark Mahoney – who has inked the likes of Johnny Depp, Harry Styles and David Beckham – to have his girl’s portrait placed permanently on his upper arm.
Alongside a photo of her father showing off his new body art and Mark, she wrote: “MY DAD GOT A TATTOO OF ME FOR MY BIRTHDAY. By the incredible @markmahoney_ssc (sic)”
Several stars commented on the post shared on Chrissy’s Instagram, including Perez Hilton, who asked: “How’s John [Legend] gonna top this??? (sic)”
Meanwhile, Chrissy recently admitted her go-to Christmas gift for husband John is a Tom Ford “man bag”.
She claimed that she and her 39-year-old spouse are “very homey people” and like to give each other simple presents and one of the ‘All Of Me’ hitmaker’s festive favorites is to find a new Tom Ford Buckley briefcase – which retails at over $3,000 – under the tree.
Chrissy likes to get her spouse the latest design because they are great quality luggage and “get better with age”.
She said: “We’re very homey people. It’s either cooking stuff, cozy stuff, or the man-bag. It’s the one with the chunky zipper, and every year they do it in a different colour or a different fabric. The suede ones are so, so beautiful and they last forever and get better with age. The dustier and more scratched they get, the cooler they get.
“I always appreciate that in a gift. And their backpacks are amazing, too. That’s like usually the only thing he gets for his birthday, and then Christmas is a lot of little things. He just loves a crew neck tee. He’s a simple dude.”
The ‘Lip Sync Battle’ host also confessed that her partner – who she has daughter Luna, two and six-month-old son Miles with – is difficult to shop for as he has “no true interests” other than his career and has a birthday on the 28th of December, very close to Christmas Day.
She said: “The poor guy gets rolled into that whole birthday/Christmas thing. He doesn’t have any true interests. It’s not like he’s a sports guy; he’s one of those guys who likes every team; they all deserve to win! He’s tough.”
As well as the luxury designer bag, every year Chrissy treats John to a “computer bag” to manage his items while travelling.
She said: “Every year I get him what we call a computer bag, but that sounds so nerdy, it’s like a man-bag, computer-bag thing.
“So it’s usually some kind of leather tote that he can fit his laptop in with all the cords, the watch box, and his passport.”

Alex Jones is expecting her second child

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex Jones is pregnant with her second child.
The 41-year-old presenter announced the news live on TV whilst presenting BBC One’s ‘The One Show’ on Monday evening (10.12.18) with Matt Baker, by joking that she hadn’t been eating mince pies.
Turning to the camera whilst cradling her bonny bump, she said: “A bit of news before we go. I’ve not been on the mince pie, there is a little baby [in there]!”
The Welsh beauty gave birth to her first child, son Teddy, with husband Charlie Thomson in January 2017.
Meanwhile, Alex recently admitted she thought she’d lose her job while she was on maternity leave.
The model returned to the topic magazine programme just three months after she gave birth to Teddy, now 22 months, because she was worried that bosses would find her a permanent replacement if she didn’t.
She said: “I think women find it hard to be able to admit that they want to go back to work and that they are going to go back a bit earlier than everyone thinks is acceptable.
“It’s ok to say I like my job and I want to continue doing it while I’m a mother. You’ve worked very hard to get where you are. Anyone who respects their job, they are scared about someone stepping in and doing it better. It is a worry.
“People expect you to say the baby is the most important, and of course it is, but side-by-side you still want to be the same person you were before. You’ll never be exactly the same, of course. I think it’s OK to say, ‘Yes I’m going to go back to work’. ”
Alex wished she had waited at least five months before going back because it would have given her more time to bond with her baby.
She explained: “I went back a bit too soon.
“Before you have a baby you don’t really understand how it’s going to change you. I made promises that were a sort of unrealistic. Three and a half months was very early. But we made it work. In hindsight, five and a half months would have been better. But you don’t know before going off on maternity.”
When she went back to work, Alex hired a nanny to help her out with the baby but she recently admitted that she found herself getting jealous of her at times because she was witnessing Teddy reach little milestones – like crawling – without her.
She said: “Jess [the nanny] is a ­brilliant girl and we couldn’t do without her. She’s wonderful in so many ways and we love her, however there is still that feeling that I want to be doing the things that she’s doing with Teddy.
“And it’s really tough. I remember the one where he crawled for the first time and she’d sent a video of it to Charlie [Thomson, her husband] and I. And both of us were crestfallen, thinking – I wanted to see it!”

Harry Redknapp almost quit I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Redknapp almost withdrew from ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ prior to entering the jungle because his wife was seriously ill.
The 71-year-old soccer coach was crowned the King of the ‘I’m a Celebrity’ jungle on Sunday (09.12.18), but Harry has now admitted he came very close to ending his Australian adventure before it had even begun because his wife Sandra was struck down with the disease sepsis.
He shared: “She’s been ill with the sepsis and it’s knocked her for six.
“It was only five weeks ago. Sandra was in and out of hospital but she wanted to come over to Australia. I was worried about her coming, I didn’t know if it was going to be too much for her.”
Sepsis can lead to organ failure and even death if it’s not treated quickly.
And Harry has confessed he came very close to backing out of the ITV show at the last minute due to his wife’s situation.
He told The Sun newspaper: “Sepsis is such a dangerous thing, we were quite lucky.
“The day before I came in, if she said she didn’t feel well or weren’t up for it – I wouldn’t have come, I’d have scrubbed it.”
Harry admitted he felt a sense of relief when he was briefly – and surprisingly – reunited with Sandra during his time in the jungle.
At the time, he feared producers were sending him out of the jungle to deal with a medical emergency.
Harry explained: “I thought something had happened, I really did – I thought something wasn’t right and I was going to come out.
“When the girl called me in the Bush Telegraph office, I said, ‘Can I tell the others?’ and she says, ‘No you can’t’. That’s why I got double choked when I saw her.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tessa Thompson pretends to like any terrible Christmas gifts she’s given.
The 35-year-old star has admitted to occasionally using her acting talents when she’s been handed awful presents by any of her friends or family.
She shared: “We’re not big shoppers in my family – my parents make stuff instead. My dad will take a found photograph and frame it; my mom is this incredible artist who can weave things and make things by hand. Everything she does is really beautiful.
“I’m lucky in my family, but … yeah, okay, I’ll tell you: I’ve been given a couple questionable purses. I look at them and think, ‘Okay, can I make this work? What can I try?’ …. It’s a very nice gesture, but not for me.”
Despite her disappointment, Tessa has always tried to remain polite and appreciative.
She told Elle magazine: “You know, you can still be grateful for a gift even if you don’t like it. I think saying ‘Thank you’ sincerely isn’t dependent on the gift. It’s about the effort and the thought. You can always be real about that.”
Meanwhile, Michael B Jordan – Tessa’s ‘Creed II’ co-star – recently admitted he sees himself as a “giver”.
The actor revealed he likes to do things for other people, but over the years, he’s struck a “nice little balance” between finding time for himself and also taking care of others.
Michael said: “For me, I’m always a giver. I’m a pleaser, you know, a fixer. I do a lot of things for other people. That’s something that just comes with me. It’s okay, it’s who I am.
“Obviously everyone has their own limits, but I think I’ve found a nice little balance between not spreading myself too thin and, at the same time, helping people.”

Cardi B feels ‘very torn’ over Offset split

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B is reportedly “very torn” over the thought of rekindling her romance with Offset.
The 26-year-old rapper – who has a five-month-old daughter called Kulture with Offset – recently announced she’d split from the Migos star, but she apparently remains uncertain about what to do in the longer term.
The source told E! News: “They haven’t been spending time together and Cardi expressed she still wants her space. She is very busy right now with her work and is focused solely on Kulture.”
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker “still loves” Offset, according to the insider, who explained that Cardi “wants her family to be whole again”.
Cardi doesn’t want to co-parent Kulture, but she’s undecided about whether her relationship with Offset is sustainable in the long run.
The source explained: “She is very torn and is trying to stay focused on business matters right now.
“She doesn’t want to have to co-parent Kulture, but isn’t quite sure if they can make their relationship work.”
Meanwhile, Cardi has rubbished the suggestion she’s split from Offset in a bid to gain publicity.
The New York-born rap star recently took to her Instagram Live to hit out at claims that their split has been contrived in order to generate interest in their relationship.
Cardi said: “Y’all gotta understand, there’s a kid involved. Ain’t no type of publicity that I would ever want that would have my daughter looking at me crazy when she get older.
“I just really hate how people say we trying to do this for publicity. Think we want to put our life out there for what – what we gain from publicity? Nothing. OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner has posted a love letter she’s received from an unknown admirer on her Instagram account.
The 23-year-old model – who is dating basketball star Ben Simmons – has taken to the photo-sharing website to post a snap of the mysterious letter, which has the writer’s name blocked out.
The letter reads: “Dear Kendall, We may be miles apart but my love for you grows stronger and stronger by the minute. My innermost feeling is of pure love for you.
“I will love you until death separates us. Right now this separation is killing me, but in my heart I know that nothing would come close to separating us.
“We are united into one forever, body & soul and I want you to know that I love you from the deepest part of my heart. (sic)”
Kendall – who has previously dated the likes of Blake Griffin and Harry Styles – posted the image of the letter, but didn’t offer any kind of explanation.
Meanwhile, an insider recently insisted that Kendall and Ben don’t want to put any “stress or pressure” on their relationship.
A source explained: “Kendall and Ben have been making more of an effort in their relationship recently, and have been seeing each other regularly for the last month now.
“They both are very busy with their careers, but have always been in touch.”
Kendall and Ben were rumoured to have ended their romance earlier this year.
But it’s since been claimed that they are instead simply keen to make sure they don’t rush things or become too intense.
The insider said: “They never had a falling out, it was just always hard for Kendall because of her work schedule.
“They reconnected when Ben was in town recently and have been seeing each other since.
“Kendall really likes Ben and he has been keeping her attention. They try not to put stress or pressure on the relationship, but Kendall isn’t actively seeing anyone else right now.”

Duchess of Sussex makes surprise appearance at Fashion Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan, Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance during the annual Fashion Awards in London on Monday night (10.12.18).
The 37-year-old Duchess was on hand at the glitzy bash at the Royal Albert Hall to give Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller the British Designer of the Year Womenswear Award.
Meghan – who wore a black one-shoulder dress for the ceremony – said on the stage: “It’s such a pleasure to be here, celebrating British fashion and British designers, in my new home in the UK.”
Meanwhile, Clare – who designed the Duchess’ wedding dress – also heaped praise on the British royal, describing her as “amazing”.
She said: “This woman is so amazing. I got to know Meghan on such a personal level. To have someone like that trust you on such a personal moment in their life … I can’t thank you enough because it was the most beautiful moment.”
Elsewhere, Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli won the coveted Designer of the Year award, beating off competition from Gucci, Dior Homme, Louis Vuitton and Givenchy.
However, Gucci still enjoyed some success on the evening, taking home the Brand of the Year accolade, while Kim Jones – Dior Homme’s creative director – was handed the Trailblazer Award.
Kaia Gerber won the sought-after Model of the Year prize, overcoming competition from Adut Akech, Adwoa Aboah, Bella Hadid and Winnie Harlow to claim the coveted gong.
Kaia, 17, is the daughter of fashion icon Cindy Crawford and she attended the event in London alongside her mother.
Other big-name stars in attendance at the ceremony included David and Victoria Beckham, as well as Kendall Jenner, Kate Moss and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Daisy Wood-Davis signs up to Hair the Musical

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy Wood-Davis has landed a role in ‘Hair the Musical’.
The 28-year-old actress – who departed Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’ earlier this year after playing Kim Butterfield since 2014 – will star opposite Jake Quickenden, and Marcus Collins in the upcoming 50th anniversary tour of the production.
Daisy will take on the role of Sheila in the show, and ‘Dancing on Ice’ winner Jake will portray Berger, with former ‘X Factor’ finalist Marcus starring as Hud.
The tour will begin at the New Wimbledon Theatre on March 21, 2019, before moving on to the likes of Cheltenham, Cardiff, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Birmingham.
Daisy’s casting comes just weeks after it was claimed she had been shooting scenes for ‘Holby City’ ahead of a guest stint in the medical drama.
She is said to have been on the set shooting an episode last month which is due to air in spring 2019.
Daisy is expected to take on the role of Phoebe Crowhurst, the on-screen sister of Evan, who will be played by newcomer and former ‘EastEnders’ actor Jack Ryder.
She teased her Twitter followers about the role, as she re-tweeted a selfie with a fan and dropped a hint about her next role.
Daisy coyly said: “Met some @Hollyoaks fans at a certain other tv studio I’ve been filming in this week… they’re everywhere! (sic)”
Following her ‘Oaks’ exit, the actress called for a ‘Hollyoaks’ spin-off with Jessica Ellis involving their two characters, Kim and Tegan Lomax, who died after being struck by a tree.
She recently wrote on Instagram: “Tegan, I’m gonna miss you but I’m so glad you brought me Jess! I cannot wait to see where your talent takes you next, the world is your oyster! I’m going to carry on crying now at that e4 episode + if you missed it, tune in tomorrow at 6.30pm ch4! Well done to all involved and JESSICA ELLIS- YOU SMASHED IT! I love you xxx ps. How about a Kim + Tegan spin off?! (sic)”

Toxic Avenger set for reboot and possible franchise

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Toxic Avenger’ is set for a reboot and possible big screen franchise.
The 1984 cult classic told the story of the grotesque mutant superhero alter ego of a mild-mannered young man Melvin Ferd, and went on to become Troma Entertainment’s mascot.
The b-movie company’s founders Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz – who also directed the original film – are said to be in line to product the upcoming mainstream remake.
The Hollywood Reporter says Legendary has acquired the film rights to the indie comedy horror film, and there are plans to develop it beyond a big blockbuster adaptation.
In the original movie, health club janitor Melvin – played by Mark Torgl – becomes a disfigured, radioactive beast with superhuman strength after falling into a drum toxic waste.
He uses this newfound for to fight crime in a brutal fashion, and the character was used in three sequels – the most recent being 2000’s ‘Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger Part IV’.
As it stands, no writer or director have been attached to the project.
‘The Toxic Avenger’ was gory, comedic and contained exaggerated violence, and it remains to be seen what direction this version could take the character in.
‘Sausage Party’ co-director Conrad Vernon was previously attached to the film when Storyscape Entertainment were looking at bringing the character back to the big screen in 2016, and he was looking at grounding it in reality.
He said at the time: “The opportunity to re-imagine a favorite cult-classic from my high school years is an honor. Toxie is an underground icon. My favorite kind.”

Jane McDonald to launch own holiday with fans

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane McDonald is set to launch her own cruise holidays.
The ‘Cruising With Jane McDonald’ star’s Channel 5 series has proven to be so popular, she’s in talks to join her fans out on the sea on a floating adventure, where she’d also provide the entertainment.
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “It’s something we’ve talked about, ’cause I’ve got a massive fan base who watch me as an artist as well.
“It has come up a few times to do a Jane McDonald cruise, which would be fabulous.
“I like to have a good time, so hosting my own ship would be the cherry on the cake.”
Earlier this year, the 55-year-old presenter won a BAFTA for Best Feature for the show and she joked if she gets another statuette next year, she’ll expand her business ventures even further.
She said: “If I ever get another, I’ll do a Bafta workout ’cause they’re really, really heavy. Like a Davina DVD but a Bafta one.”
However, Jane thinks there’s a limit to how successful she could be because she doesn’t think she could crack America because of her northern accent, though she’s found she’s popular across the world, much to her astonishment.
She said: “It would be brilliant, but I’m too Yorkshire, aren’t I? They wouldn’t understand me.
“It’s shown in Australia. They get my accent out there. Everyone in Australia talks like me.
“I could not believe the amount of people who I bumped into there that were from Yorkshire. Australia are loving the show.”
The presenter visited Australia for her upcoming show, ‘Jane McDonald Cruising Down Under’, and had a “hairy” moment swimming with crocodiles.
She said: “That was a bit hairy. When you’ve got a tiny bit of Perspex between you and a 12-foot crocodile and you can see its teeth.”
