Jessie J joins The Voice Kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessie J has joined ‘The Voice Kids’.
The ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ hitmaker will sit alongside returning coaches Pixie Lott, will.i.am and Danny Jones on the new series of the junior version of the ITV talent show in 2019.
Jessie – who is dating actor Channing Tatum – previously appeared on the original adult show on the BBC alongside will, Sir Tom Jones and The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue for two seasons between 2012 and 2013, and later appeared on the Australian series in 2015 and 2016.
She said of her return: “I love kids, I love to sing and I love to share all I know about singing and performing.
“The idea of combining those three things again on “‘The Voice Kids’ is a dream come true. I am grateful to have been asked back.
“I am so excited to share my experience with the young singers on the show, who are just starting to discover themselves as singers.”
Jessie says she will be “protective” of her young contestants.
She vowed: “I will be protective of their experience emotionally, as well as vocally.
“It’s a huge moment in their lives and I am happy I get to be someone to help and hold their hand.”
And of her fellow coaches, she added: “It’s a fun and awesome panel to be joining. I love Pixie and Danny and I can’t wait to be sitting alongside my friend will. Let’s go!!”

She added: “I absolutely love Jessie and I’m thrilled to have a girl joining me with the boys!
“We’ve performed at some of the same gigs in the past and I’ve always admired her voice.

“Two series and two winners for me so far and I want the winner again so bring it on, kids!”

Craig Charles ‘doesn’t miss’ Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Charles didn’t find ‘Coronation Street’ “that hard” and admits he “doesn’t miss” being on the soap.
The 54-year-old actor played cab driver Lloyd Mullaney on the ITV show from 2005 to 2015, and while he admits the programme is “very safe” to be in, he has been “too busy” to reprise his role.
He said: “I don’t miss it.
“I’ve been too busy. It’s very safe being in ‘Corrie’, it’s a job for life. And it’s not that hard.
Craig admits he only had to “work hard” on the soap for a “short while” when his alter-ego was involved in a big storyline.
He added to the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “You work hard for a short while and then you have a lot of downtime because someone else has a storyline.”
Simon Gregson, who plays Lloyd’s best mate Steve McDonald, recently admitted he loved shooting scenes with the ‘Red Dwarf’ star on the soap because he is a “fantastic comedy actor”.
He said: “The thing for me, the dafter it is and the more silly it is the better a day at work it is for me. The crew get on board with it and the atmosphere is great. So Steve and Lloyd’s scenes were great to do.
“Craig is a fantastic comedy actor but he would let me run with it and was happy to play the straight man and we slotted into that very easily.”
Lloyd departed Weatherfield in September 2015 with his significant other Andrea Beckett (Hayley Tamaddon) after she landed a new job in Jersey, and she later gave birth to a baby girl off-screen.

John Krasinski: Deaf actress was non-negotionable in A Quiet Place

OHMYGOSSIP — John Krasinski wouldn’t have filmed ‘A Quiet Place’ without using a deaf actress.
The 39-year-old star says it was “non-negotionable” having someone with the disability in real life portraying Regan Abbott in the horror movie because they could be his “guide”.
Millicent Simmonds played the daughter of John and his wife Emily Blunt’s characters Lee and Evelyn Abbott in the film, which follows the married couple who must protect their children – including son Marcus (Noah Jupe) – from monsters who are blind but have an acute sense of hearing.
In an interview with Variety, he admitted: “It was a non-negotiable thing for me.
“The more important reason to me was I needed a guide.
“I was writing a movie about a family who had a deaf child, and I know nothing about that.
“I needed someone to walk me through, ‘What do you feel when you wake up in the morning to be the only person who can’t hear in your family?'”
One of the most rewarding experiences for Krasinski – who has daughters Hazel, four and two-year-old Violet with Emily – was filming in silence from the perspective of Simmonds’, which made her mother burst into tears because it allowed her to experience just what it’s like for her daughter to not hear.
He admitted: “To see her mom come up to me crying as hard as she was, was the most moving experience.
“She said, ‘I’ve always wanted to know what the experience was with my daughter and I finally have it.'”
The ‘Office’ actor previously admitted he doesn’t think a film will ever have the same effect on him again.
He said: “This movie has changed my life in every single way, not just my career; I’ve not given my total sense to anything before, and I don’t mean that I’ve been lazy, but there was something extremely personal about this movie. I said to my wife, ‘I don’t think it ever will be like this again’. And my wife, who is a brilliant sage, said, ‘Of course there won’t. This is special and we did it together and there was something about it for your daughters.’ ”

Sir Elton John’s phone appeal

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Elton John has urged people to spend less time on their phones
The ‘Step Into Christmas’ hitmaker – who has sons Zachary, seven, and five-year-old Elijah with husband David Furnish – thinks devices should be cast aside in order to spend more “meaningful time face-to-face with family and friends”.
Asked his hopes for 2019, he said: “I hope people can spend less time on their phones.
“I love the benefits that technology has given us, but … nothing beats a lively conversation and huge laughs.”
The 71-year-old singer views Christmas Day as a time for family bonding so he and his spouse ensure the TV stays off for virtually the whole day so they can all enjoy one another’s company.
He told Radio Times magazine’s Christmas issue: “Aside from the Queen’s speech, we tend to keep the telly switched off as we like to enjoy our presents, play games and listen to carols.
“Christmas is a time of peace and family, so we really try to make our time together extra special.”
Elton has previously spoken of how much he hates mobile phones because they’ve stopped him enjoying going out as he no longer has much privacy.
He said: “I hate mobile phones, camera phones. I don’t go out anymore. There’s no privacy anymore.
“When I started out there were no mobile phones, no kind of paparazzi, we had it so easy.
“You could afford to be out of your mind and behave extraordinarily badly in public and no one would be able to take a photograph, which I did many times!
“Unfortunately that’s all changed with the advent of technology. Going out now is an effort.”
The ‘Tiny Dancer’ singer also bemoaned reality stars’ worth ethic, stating that he has “worked hard” to get where he is, unlike those who find fame on shows like UK TV’s popular dating show ‘Love Island’.
He said: “Those years I had in a van going up the M1, I look back and they were the backbone, they gave me all the experience I needed.
“The work ethic was great, so when I was ready and I became successful I knew what to do because I had worked so hard for it.
“It wasn’t, ‘Oh, what do I do now?’. I wasn’t just thrust into it, I’d worked really hard for it.”

Katie Cassidy is married

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Cassidy has got married.
The ‘Arrow’ actress tied the knot with boyfriend Matthew Rodgers – who she got engaged to in June 2017 – in an intimate ceremony in Sunset Key, Florida, and couldn’t be happier.
She shared a photo from their big day on Instagram, in which she showed off her long-sleeved lace wedding gown as she kissed her new husband, who teamed a white jacket with black trousers.
She captioned the photo: “I can’t help falling in love with you … YES! It’s official! #MrsRodgers I love you my husband.(sic)”
The 32-year-old beauty also used Instagram to reveal her engagement last year, showing off her oval diamond ring on a photo of herself and Matthew.
She wrote at the time: “I can’t wait to spend forever with you my darling!! I’m the luckiest girl in the whole world.(sic)”
Katie – who is the daughter of the late David Cassidy but was raised by her mom Sherry Williams and stepfather Richard Benedon – declared her love to her beau in a sweet post four days prior to the engagement announcement, in which she vowed to “never let go” of him.
A photograph of the pair jumping in the air whilst on vacation in Mykonos, Greece, it read: “U jump. I jump. #neverletgo@mattyice432 @cavoMtagoomykonos (sic).”
Meanwhile, Katie recently revealed she turned down the chance to party with Prince Harry in Miami in 2014.
She recalled: “I was just there with some of my girlfriends, we had just finished shooting [‘Arrow’], we were on vacation. He had come with some of his friends … one of his friends, I think, was getting married, so he was a part of the bachelor party. They were sorta on a bachelor weekend, and they were, like, ‘Hey. You guys should come out with us.'”
The ‘Taken’ actress rejected the invite because she didn’t want to be pictured with the prince.
She added: “[The bachelor party guys] were like, ‘You guys should come out with us tonight.’ I was like, ‘Uh, no.’ With all due respect, Prince Harry, that’s the last thing I’m gonna do – be photographed. Not that I have anything against him – he’s wonderful and lovely – but, you know, I’ve also been an ‘on my own merit’ type of girl … not necessarily just the daughter of [David] or ‘Harry’s girl.’ I have my own identity.”

Catherine Zeta-Jones pays birthday tribute to Kirk Douglas

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine Zeta-Jones has paid a glowing tribute to Kirk Douglas to mark his 102nd birthday on Sunday (09.12.18).
The 49-year-old actress has taken to her Instagram account to heap praise on her father-in-law, describing the ‘Spartacus’ actor as the “most beautiful man”.
Catherine – who has been married to Michael Douglas, Kirk’s son, since 2000 – wrote alongside a video tribute to Kirk: “Happy 102nd birthday to the most beautiful man. We love you Kirk. (sic)”
The Welsh star’s Instagram post featured a slideshow of family photos, as well as old movie shots and images of Kirk spending time with her children, Carys, 15, and Dylan, 18.
Catherine’s touching tribute was posted shortly after the ‘Chicago’ actress admitted that she and her husband have removed their kids “from the crazy world of Hollywood” to ensure they remained grounded.
She revealed that the high-profile couple have made a conscious effort to make sure their children don’t get carried away by the glitz and glamour that surrounds them.
The ‘Mask of Zorro’ star said: “They’ve kinda been removed from the crazy world of Hollywood or even the crazy world of Manhattan.
“The teenagers here in Manhattan, there’s a maturity that comes too quick I think.”
Catherine praised the maturity of her children, but she also admitted there’s an element of luck involved with parenting.
She said: “We’ve kind of shielded them away, but they’re incredibly mature for their tender years. They get it, and that’s just a thing [where] I think that I just got lucky.”
Despite their glamorous lifestyle, the ‘Entrapment’ star has also confessed her marriage isn’t always “rosy”.
She explained: “First of all, I’m so happy that we’ve made it to be 20 years together. It’s been great.
“But I think it’s just unfathomable to me that you would be with one person for 18 years and things are not rosy every day. You know? They’re just not.”

Sally Dynevor couldn’t watch Coronation Street breast cancer scenes

OHMYGOSSIP — Sally Dynevor couldn’t bear to watch her ‘Coronation Street’ breast cancer storyline after she was diagnosed with the disease at the same time as her character.
The 55-year-old actress has previously admitted the soap saved her life because she went to the doctor after realising she had the symptoms while researching the plot, and she has now admitted she was booking breast cancer operations as she was shooting similar scenes on the show.
She said: “We couldn’t watch it, it was too close to home.
“When I was filming I was booking in for operations. I said to the ‘Corrie’ team, ‘I want you to write me to a point where you don’t need me anymore because I don’t want to leave the viewers in limbo,’ so I stayed in the show for a month until taking time off for my treatment.
“There were scenes where I was telling Carla [Alison King] that I had breast cancer and I had breast cancer myself.
“It was hard for the crew and the cast because a few of us felt like we went through it together.
“It was a very strange time in life.
“I was 46 and I always thought breast cancer happened to much older women. If it wasn’t for ‘Coronation Street’ I never would have gone to the doctors.
“I was in total denial. I remember saying, ‘I’m sure it’s nothing, I’m sure I’m wasting your time.’ ”
Sally – who plays Sally Metcalfe on the ITV soap – is set to celebrate in 2019 when she is able to come off all of her breast cancer medication on the 10-year anniversary of getting the all-clear.
She added to OK! magazine: “As I’m 55 I have mammograms every year. I have one more year on the drug Tamoxifen and then that’s it.
“Next year in November will be my 10-year anniversary and I’ll come off all the medication. I can’t believe it.”
Sally will celebrate coming off her medication by climbing Mount Everest with Lorraine Kelly for charity Prevent Breast Cancer, of which she is a patron.
During a recent appearance on the TV presenter’s breakfast show, ‘Lorraine’, Sally said: “Next year I’m going to climb Everest Base Camp with Prevent Breast Cancer. It’s going to be amazing. It’ll be my 10 years [with the organisation] so it will be a really special reason for doing it. It’ll raise awareness.
“I don’t know if you’d like to come with me?”
Lorraine said: “I’d love to come.”
Sally replied: “I’ve got the details. Maybe I should’ve done this when we were in the green room?
“We walk for 12 days but because of the altitude we have to stop every now and again. But it sounds amazing. And what a great cause.”

Ben Stiller: Cinema is not going to die

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Stiller remains confident cinema is “not going to die”.
The 53-year-old actor concedes that the industry is currently lagging behind streaming services like Netflix, but Ben is sure that cinema will rise once again in the coming years.
He said: “It’s a challenge, I know, because there’s so much more content now. There’s video games, Instagram, it’s just so much harder to get people’s attention. The world has really changed.
“But cinema’s not going to die, just like Kodak film hasn’t died. We’re all going to be fine.”
Ben acknowledged that TV shows are currently dominating the landscape.
But the American star believes the situation is “cyclical” and he’s confident that the movie business will soon regain prominence.
He told the National newspaper: “Netflix, Showtime, HBO, people like that are doing that now. And creative people will always go to where they can do what they want to do.
“Right now that’s in TV. We’re very fortunate that that outlet exists. I wish the movies would go back to where they were, and honestly I think they will. I don’t think anything is permanent. It’s cyclical.
“It’s like people said film, as a physical medium, was going to go away, and … when the Golden Globes nominations were announced, Kodak did a tweet about all the ones that were shot on film, and it was a ridiculous number.
“I don’t think there will ever be a lack of an audience that wants to see films shot on film on a big screen, but right now we’re in a cycle where the economics don’t work.”

Meryl Streep hails Bradley Cooper’s directing skills

OHMYGOSSIP — Meryl Streep has heaped praise on Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut ‘A Star Is Born’.
The Academy Award-winning actress has hailed Bradley’s approach to the drama movie, saying it was made in a very “self-assured” fashion.
Meryl explained: “It’s so breezily shot and it’s so self-assured. It’s not actorly shot. [Some] actors who make the transition to directing, they give the actors too much air. They don’t cut as brutally as you need to in order to move the story.
“To them, the character is more interesting than the forward movement of the story, the narrative. The movie’s the thing. You’re helping but the movie has to keep going. And Bradley … he gave himself the stuff he needed and then he’d move off. … kept it moving.
“He was on his own back a lot. I liked that. Made you in the thing. You were in the thing. Brilliant.”
Bradley – who also starred in the film – cast pop star Lady Gaga in the role of Ally Maine, a nightclub singer.
And Meryl, 69, told The Hollywood Reporter that “nobody but Gaga” could have fulfilled the role.
Meanwhile, Bradley recently admitted he relished the challenge of balancing acting and directing.
Reflecting on the experience of making ‘A Star Is Born’, the Hollywood star said: “I’ve never been more fulfilled and have it feel more natural. I love acting, and I love acting and directing.”

The 31-year-old musician – who finished fourth on the hit ITV reality show – has gushed over the King of the Jungle, and says they had a father-daughter relationship in the jungle.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: “Harry was like a father figure to me in camp. He is a similar age to my dad.
“He was my biggest supporter in there. Anytime I went to do a challenge he would give me an amazing pep talk. He believed in me so much.
“I used to sit next to Harry in awe. It was storytime with Hazza around the campfire every night.
“He’s so much fun. He’s got such a zest for life, he’s 71 and has had a life-changing experience.”
The singer narrowly missed out on a place in the final last night (09.12.18) – on which the former football manager triumphed ahead of runner-up Emily Atack, and third-place John Barrowman.
The ‘Sax’ hitmaker admitted that fellow Londoner Harry boosted her spirits with his brilliant sense of humour when she was feeling homesick on the show.
She said: “I cried a couple of times in the Bush Telegraph when I thought about my family.
“But Harry made me laugh again. We bonded about being from the East End. We had so much in common.”

Ant McPartlin returning to Britain’s Got Talent for January auditions?

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant McPartlin will reportedly return to work on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ next month.
The 43-year-old TV presenter will be back alongside his presenting partner Dec Donnelly to film auditions for the ITV talent show after taking time off from work commitments following a drink-driving conviction earlier this year and a stint in rehab.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Ant has completed his recovery and ITV has decided he is ready to be back at work for Britain’s Got Talent filming, which starts next month.
“It’s been an incredible difficult two-year period but he has been entirely focused on turning his life around in order to return to work.
“ITV is very excited about Ant and Dec being reunited – but Ant’s recovery has been everyone’s first priority.”
While next year’s series of ‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ – will be off air until 2019, Ant is still expected to return to ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ after Holly Willoughby stepped in for him for the recent run.
Dec previously admitted while he was “incredibly excited” to head to the jungle for the show – which was won by Harry Redknapp on Sunday night (09.12.18) – but he didn’t want to be paired up “with another guy”.
He said: “As always I’m incredibly excited to be heading to Oz for ‘I’m A Celebrity’.
“It is obviously tinged with sadness that Ant won’t be coming this year, I’m going to really miss him, but it’s only for one series and he’ll be back stronger next year.
“I didn’t want to host this series with another guy so Holly was top of my list.”
It was also revealed Ant helped choose Holly as his replacement on ‘I’m A Celebrity’.
She said: “We’ve spoken and he’s happy – he was part of the decision that I’d do it. He just needs to look after himself, that’s the most important thing. He knows I’ll look after the show and keep it warm for him …
“On ‘I’m A Celebrity’ it’s important to have chemistry and to have a friendship as a starting point you can grow from.
“It’s that unspoken thing: you know how the other person speaks, how their sentences are going to end. That helps a lot. It’s definitely bittersweet. ‘I’m A Celebrity..’ is a huge show but nobody wanted to have to be asked to do it. It’s not nice for anyone.”

Emily – who revealed that she struggled with self-confidence since she split from ex-boyfriend Jack Vacher in February – admitted her stint in the jungle tested her strength and taught her to love herself.
She said: “I will never doubt myself again.
“I can survive in the jungle so now I can do anything.
“It’s the most mental thing ever.
“I found new love and respect for myself.”
The former ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestant was ecstatic about completing the show in second place, and humbly declared that she was happy to be runner-up to the 71-year-old football manager, who she hailed as a “worthy winner.”
She told hosts Declan Donnelly and Holly Willoughby: “I can’t believe this is happening. I feel like – can I be the Jungle Princess?
“He’s such a worthy winner and to be alongside him in this final, I’m honoured Mr. Redknapp.”
Although the curvaceous stunner was happy to have participated in the show, she was glad to leave the jungle to return to normal life.
She added: “The first things I’ll do when I leave are shower, eat and ring all my friends.”
