Eminem says rap rivalry changed genre

OHMYGOSSIP — Eminem thinks Tupac Shakur and The Notorious BIG’s rivalry changed rap music.
The chart-topping star was a fan of the popular rap duo, and he’s admitted to having split loyalties at the height of their feud in the 90s.
He told SiriusXM: “The Tupac/Biggie thing was tough because you like them both, and you’re just stuck in this weird thing where you’re bumping the Tupac diss record, then you’re bumping something from Biggie that might be dissing him in it.”
Eminem admitted that Tupac and Biggie were huge influences on his own career.
And he remembers thinking that Tupac’s attack on his rap rival was particularly vicious.
He said: “That, I feel like, was the first time I ever heard anybody get that personal on a diss because it was definitely – most of it, majority – was personal, below-the-belt jabs and s**t, but it was done so well, and the record was just co crazy.”
Earlier this year, meanwhile, Eminem denied dissing Drake on ‘Lucky You’.
The track was initially thought to be a shot at Drake, but he insisted he would never hit out at the rapper.
Eminem said: “Nah, here’s the thing … Drake will always be in my good graces because he did something for one of my daughters that I will never forget, and he will always be in my graces. I like Drake.
“What I’m telling you with these lines is I don’t know what’s real and what’s not at this point.”

Kevin Feige: Marvel’s success feels surreal

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Feige admits the success of the Marvel films feels “surreal”.
The 45-year-old President of Marvel Studios has masterminded the success of the money-spinning superhero movies, but he’s confessed that a decade ago, he couldn’t have envisioned the popularity of the films.
Speaking to the ‘Playback with Kris Tapley’ podcast, Kevin shared: “It’s surreal.
“In one way it’s incredibly satisfying. In the other way it’s nearly unbelievable from where we started. There were days when I wasn’t sure we would be able to get ‘Iron Man’ in theatres.
“There were days when I thought ‘Avengers’ was a pipe dream. And there were days after ‘Avengers’ where I thought, ‘Well, where do we go?'”
Disney’s acquisition of Fox means that flagship titles and characters like the ‘X-Men’ are now under Disney/Marvel’s control.
Asked whether he’s given the go-ahead to start developing stories based on Fox’s current Marvel properties, Kevin explained: “No, not yet, but we’ve been told it’s looking very, very good and could happen in the first six months of next year.
“The notion of the characters that had previously been under a Fox agreement coming back is great. It’s nice when a company that created all these characters can have access to all those characters. It’s unusual not to; Marvel’s been in a unique position to not have access to those characters for a long time.
“But in terms of actually thinking about it and actually planning things, we haven’t started that yet.”

Brett Anderson embraces Suede’s early days

OHMYGOSSIP — Brett Anderson has learned to embrace Suede’s “stuttering start”.
The 51-year-old singer reflected on the group’s early days for his autobiography, ‘Coal Black Mornings’, and having to “forensically detail” their beginnings has given him a new appreciation for the difficulties they experienced.
He said: “Forensically detailing he stuttering start of Suede’s early years made me cherish them much more.
“Previously, I’d brushed that period under the carpet, certainly professionally, but I realised that the inglorious detail is just as much part of the story.
“And without failure, there’s no success.”
The book ended just before the ‘Trash’ hitmakers achieved huge mainstream success, and Brett enjoyed doing something unexpected.
He said: “I thought that was more interesting and unexpected to end where most rock biographies start.
“There was something bloody-minded about that that appealed.”
The ‘Animal Nitrate’ singer previously vowed not to write another book but he’s now working on a second memoir chronicling the band’s success, ‘Afternoons With The Blinds Drawn’, as he found a way to make their well-known story “interesting”, and because he enjoyed penning the first far more than he expected.
He told MOJO magazine: “I found a way of writing about it. How to tell a story that’s been told before, in an interesting way?
“I decided to look at what happened to me, almost psychologically, when someone goes through the mechanics of success and gets chewed up by the machine.
“Also, I didn’t expect to enjoy the process of writing so much.
“For decades I’ve been splurging how I feel in songs, but it’s much more naked in a book, and I wanted to write more.
“I’d like to write another book after that one, but I don’t know what about.
“It’ll have to have ‘Evenings’ in the title. Some wag on Facebook said I should call it ‘Parents Evenings’, which I thought was funny.”

Lady Gaga’s Las Vegas residency ‘has been a major challenge’

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga’s Las Vegas residency has been a major challenge for the pop star.
The 32-year-old singer is set to embark on a two-part residency in Sin City, and her manager, Bobby Campbell, has admitted that the shows represent a new chapter in Gaga’s career.
He explained: “The past eight years of her life has been touring the world in stadiums and arenas.
“Scaling down to a theatre and living with the production limitations of a smaller space isn’t easy. I think fans will be really excited by what we’ve come up with, but it certainly hasn’t come without its challenges.”
Gaga is one of the world’s best-selling pop stars, while she’s also recently made a successful transition into acting.
But according to Kurt Melien, the President of Live Nation Las Vegas, residencies have become “the dominant form of entertainment”.
He told Billboard: “That wasn’t the case for years.
“Residencies are now the dominant form of entertainment – the idea that the biggest artist on the planet is doing Vegas sends a message to the world that this is the thing to do.”
Despite this, Bobby admitted that the upcoming shows in Las Vegas are “not necessarily what everyone expected she would do”.
He said: “For her, right now, it’s not necessarily what everyone expected she would do, but it’s what we wanted to do.
“It’s not super-calculated or strategic as much as it’s the perfect storm of right time.”

Edie Campbell thinks social media gave models a voice

OHMYGOSSIP — Edie Campbell thinks social media has “cracked open” the negative side of the fashion industry.
The 28-year-old beauty – who has been a vocal campaigner for private changing spaces backstage at runway shows – praised the efforts of Cameron Russell’s #MyJobShouldNotIncludeAbuse campaign, which encouraged models to speak out about the sexual abuse they had experienced, and thinks people are becoming “very nervous” about a power shift in the business.
She said: “The advent of social media has really changed things and it meant that people now have a platform to say what is wonderful and what is not about the industry.
“I think its cracking it open, in a way that makes people very nervous.
“It forces people to listen because the power is now distributed in a more even manner throughout the industry because people have a voice. That is quite an extraordinary thing.”
But Edie knows it can be hard for people to sympathise with models.
She said in a recent interview: “It’s difficult to feel sorry for models because it’s perceived to be this extremely glamorous, gilded profession – that it’s a privilege and an honour, something that is bestowed upon you that you should be endlessly grateful for.”
And the British beauty thinks there are more regulations needed to protect the younger, unknown models in the industry.
She said: “I think the stories you hear about models are the ones who’ve made it.
“For every Karlie Kloss, there are a hundred non-Karlie Klosses who ended up in debt in foreign countries having this dream that was never going to happen for them.”
Edie admitted she’s been driven to speak out because it was frustrating to sit back and watch nothing change.
She said: “I was getting really frustrated with the silence and the kind of like, ‘Oh, nothing to do with me’ that was fashion’s response to what was going on.
“Honesty and truth is something I really value, so I just thought, ‘Someone’s got to say it.’ ”

Chris Pratt hitting the gym after festive break

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Pratt is “determined” to hit the gym, after neglecting his fitness regime over the festive period.
The 39-year-old actor has said he’s “not been motivated to work out” over the past few months as the holiday season has encouraged him to keep “eating” rather than hitting the gym, but he’s now on a mission to get back to his usual work out routine, and wants his social media followers to join him.
In a video posted to his Instagram story, Chris – who has son Jack, six, with ex-wife Anna Faris – said: “This is a message to somebody out there. I don’t know who it is. One of my followers. At least one of ya. Maybe more than one of you.
“These last couple of months, I have just not been that motivated to work out. And I’ve been eating. And I know it’s winter and it’s holiday season. But this morning I woke up and I’ve determined that I’m going to get on it. And I don’t want to, but I’m going to do it, I’m going to start it today.”
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actor admitted it “sucks to work out”, but knows he’ll feel “great” afterwards.
He added: “I’m asking you to do it with me and check in. Let’s go. Because if I’ve learned anything it’s this – and normally I’m joking around on these things but I’m being kind of serious – it sucks to work out. But. After you do it you feel great. So let’s get through it. Let’s do it and get through it, and we’ll feel good.”
A few hours later, the ‘Jurassic World’ star took to his story again, this time sweaty and exhausted after having completed his work out.
He said: “Alright we did it. We did it! I’m going to feel better eventually, I think. This is good, let’s keep it going.
“Let’s motivate each other. Social media stuff can be so ugly and so nasty and it can make us hurt one another but I’m trying to motivate you.”

Lisa Riley turned down ‘longer’ Emmerdale return

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Riley had to turn down a lengthier ‘Emmerdale’ return offer due to other commitments.
The 42-year-old actress will reprise her role as Mandy Dingle in the new year and the star has admitted she was asked to put pen to paper on a longer deal but she wasn’t able to, meaning her return storyline had to be changed.
She said: “The first initial offer was for a long period, but because of work and my commitments, there was an original storyline which has been flipped.
“It won’t be what people expect, which is even better. It leaves things very much open for the new year, shall we say.
“I had a secret meeting with the show and I had time to have a think about whether it was the right thing, but it didn’t take me a long time once they told me the story.”
However, Lisa has hinted Mandy may be back in the Dales for good at some point.
When asked if her departure will leave the door open for a return, she replied: “Yes! I’m not dead. I’m very much alive.”
Mandy will make a dramatic return to the village alongside her 16-year-old son Vinnie, who will be played by ‘The Syndicate’ star Brad Johnson.
Speaking about her co-star, Lisa told Digital Spy: “He was in Kay Mellor’s ‘The Syndicate’ and he’s brilliant.
“Vinnie comes to the village with Mandy and the avenues of where the stories can be taken are huge. I’m so excited.”

Mark Charnock leads tributes to late Emmerdale director

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Charnock has led tributes to late ‘Emmerdale’ director Haldane Duncan.
The 50-year-old actor took to Twitter to reveal Hal, who was 73, passed away on Boxing Day (26.12.18), and praised him as one of the “kindest” and “funniest” people he had the pleasure of working with.
He wrote on Twitter: “Hearing the very sad news that one of our great directors from a few years ago passed away yesterday. Haldane Duncan was one of the kindest, funniest and best. A lovely man with time for everyone. X (sic)”
Upon seeing Mark’s tweet, Hal’s son Mike thanked the star – who has played Marlon Dingle on the soap for 22 years – for his kind words.
He wrote: “Thanks Mark. Hal was my dad and he would have loved all the kind messages from everyone. He not only worked on Emmerdale but also on all of the soaps, including Take the High Road, Hollyoaks, Eastenders and Crossroads. In Scotland he is best known for Taggart and the Steamie. (sic)”
Mark admitted Hal would always make him laugh and was an “utter gent” and “total professional”.
He tweeted: “Hi Mike. I’m so very sorry for your loss. I really adored your dad. He was so good at his job and had the cheekiest twinkle in his eye. Always made me laugh. You felt like you were in the hands of a total professional and an utter gent. Please accept my sincerest sympathies. Mark (sic)”
Hal helmed the first ‘Emmerdale’ episode on Yorkshire Television on November 8th 1999, and he also made 14 episodes of ‘EastEnders’ between 1997 and 1998, as well as six episodes of ‘Hollyoaks’ from 1996 to 1997.

BBC axes Film review show

OHMYGOSSIP — The BBC has axed its ‘Film…’ review show after 47 years.
The programme began in 1971 when it was hosted by various presenters, including Joan Bakewell, until Barry Norman took over from 1972 until 1998, but the show – which has also been fronted by Jonathan Ross and Claudia Winkleman – will not air in 2019.
A spokesperson for the corporation said in a statement: “We are constantly looking at how we present the arts to ensure we are serving all audiences in the best way possible.
“In 2019 we will be creating an enhanced offer for lovers of film both on television and online which will be a more consistent approach across the year and will replace the ‘Film’ show.
“We’re still working through the details and will have more news about what this will look like soon.
“Those interested in film can also watch and listen to other film-programming across the BBC; from BBC News’s weekly The Film Review and Radio 4’s The Film Programme and film features on Front Row.”
Jonathan took over hosting duties from Barry – who died in 2017 aged 83 – in 1999 and fronted the programme until 2010 when Claudia took up the reins until 2016.
Following her departure, the show was hosted on rotation by several presenters, including Zoë Ball, Clara Amfo, Edith Bowman and Charlie Brooker.
The programme’s title was changed annually to reflect the year of broadcast, but there will be no ‘Film 2019’.
The ‘Film…’ show initially aired only in the south east of England in 1971, but was made available in all areas of the UK in 1972.

Jennifer Aniston gives godchildren candy and love

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Aniston spoils her godchildren with candy and “a lot of love”.
The 49-year-old actress is proud to have been chosen to offer spiritual guidance to many of her friends’ kids, but she doesn’t think they need her to give them any advice as they’ve been raised “the right way”.
She said: “They’re really extraordinary kids – they’re all products of my girlfriends, who are women whom I’ve been in love with for 25, sometimes 30 years, who have brought them up the right way.
“I don’t give them advice because I don’t need to. I don’t really give them anything except candy and a lot, a lot of love.”
And the former ‘Friends’ star insisted none of her godchildren view her as a glamorous figure in her life.
She laughed: “Me – glamorous? This takes a couple of hours to do.
“They don’t know me as a glamorous person at all. They come over on the weekend – we call it Sunday Fun Day and it’s sort of a fun, magical place for them to visit. It’s all sweatpants, jeans and flip-flops.”
The ‘Dumplin’ actress thinks its funny when she’s praised as a beauty icon because she feels insecure and still has moments of feeling low about herself.
She said in a recent interview: “I always chuckle inside when someone says something like that because I’ve never thought of myself that way.
“I didn’t grow up being perceived that way and I’ve certainly had many moments in my life where I didn’t feel good enough or pretty enough or anything enough, where I felt horrible about myself.
“But you just have to go through those periods and get stronger and realise how you are perceived really has to do with how you feel about yourself more than anything else.”

Angelina Jolie’s social media fears for children

OHMYGOSSIP — Angelina Jolie is worried about her children using social media.
The 43-year-old actress has children Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12 and twins Vivienne and Knox, 10, with her former husband Brad Pitt and she admitted that like “most parents” she has little control over what her children are exposed to online.
In an interview for BBC Radio 4’s ‘Today’, which she guest edited, Angelina said: “There are certain realities to teenagers and also our generation doesn’t understand half of what they are doing with their tech so they can get around us pretty easy.”
Angelina’s comments come just weeks after fake Instagram accounts in Maddox and Pax’s names posted messages purporting to wish their father Brad Pitt a happy 55th birthday.
A source told Gossip Cop: “The kids don’t have Instagram accounts. Those are all fan accounts that those reports are referencing.”
Meanwhile, Brad and Angelina – who split in 2016 – finally reached an agreement over their divorce and custody terms last month.
Samantha Bley DeJean, Angelina’s attorney, said: “A custody arrangement was agreed and has been signed by both parties and the judge.
“The agreement, which is based on the recommendations of the child custody evaluator, eliminates the need for a trial. The filing and details of the agreement are confidential to protect the best interests of the children.”
Angelina is reportedly “pleased to be entering the next stage and relieved at the progress for the health of their family”.
The Hollywood duo were previously said to have agreed to try to reach a swift conclusion to the issue, acknowledging that they wanted to avoid the pain of a lengthy court battle.
Angelina had originally wanted sole custody of the kids and is said to have fought for the ‘World War Z’ actor to get “minimal” time with his brood, but they now appear to have reached an amicable agreement.
Earlier this year, Angelina – who married Brad in 2014 – was ordered by a judge to allow her children to spend more time with their father, or risk losing custody.
The judge told her at the time: “If the minor children remain closed down to their father and depending on the circumstances surrounding this condition, it may result in a reduction of the time they spend with [Jolie] and may result in the Court ordering primary physical custody to [Pitt].”

Keira Knightley’s breakdown helped her cope with motherhood

OHMYGOSSIP — Keira Knightley’s breakdown helped her cope with motherhood.
The 33-year-old actress has admitted that she struggled to cope with being a new mother at first when she welcomed her daughter Edie with husband James Righton in 2015 but believes that suffering a breakdown at the age of 22, when she first found fame, and the resulting therapy, helped her to deal with it.
She told The Guardian: “Your body just created life and now it’s shifting in order to feed it. That’s monumental and we’re all expected to go: ‘Oh no, all good, I’m groovy – I haven’t slept, I’m fine. That I’m able to forgive myself for not being brilliant [as a parent] every f**king day is probably because of that breakdown.”
‘Colette’ actress Keira also hit out at how women are portrayed in society, saying that they are forced to be “sexy” or a “virgin-mother”.
She said: “Before motherhood, you’re sexy, but if we talk about the whole vagina-splitting thing then that’s terrifying; there’s no sex there, so what we do is go into the virgin-mother retrofit, that’s nice and safe. The problem with those two images is I think very few women actually identify with them. Women are meant to play the flirt or the mother in order to get their voice heard. I can’t. It makes me feel sick.
“They tell me what it is to be a woman. Be nice, be supportive, be pretty but not too pretty, be thin but not too thin, be sexy but not too sexy, be successful but not too successful. … But I don’t want to flirt and mother them, flirt and mother, flirt and mother. I don’t want to flirt with you because I don’t want to f**k you, and I don’t want to mother you because I am not your mother. … I just want to work, mate. Is that OK? Talk and be heard, be talked to and listen. Male ego. Stop getting in the way.”

The Rock paid 13m more than Jungle Cruise co-star Emily Blunt

OHMYGOSSIP — Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was paid $13 million more than Emily Blunt for ‘Jungle Cruise’.
The pair star in Disney’s new family adventure movie – based on the popular theme park attraction of the same name – which is set for release in 2020 but Johnson has been paid more than twice Emily’s $9 million fee.
According to TMZ, Dwayne has pocketed $22 million for the flick, which also stars Jack Whitehall.
‘Jungle Cruise’ follows Johnson’s Captain Frank, who takes scientist Lily Houghton (Blunt) and her brother, played by Whitehall, into a mysterious jungle to find a tree with healing properties.
The cast also includes Edgar Ramirez, Jesse Plemons, Paul Giamatti, Andy Nyman, Quim Gutierrez, Veronica Falcon and Dani Rovira and the movie has been directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.
Meanwhile, Emily, 35, is currently wowing audiences in ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ and recently opened up about the circumstances surrounding her casting in the movie, admitting it was a career-changing moment.
She recalled: “It was like [director Rob Marshall] was about to propose to me! Then when he said it’s Mary Poppins, I was like, ‘Oh my God’.
“I like to imagine he got down on one knee. But Mary Poppins is a big deal for all of us – we all had to approach it with a sense of courage.
“We have waited 54 years to see her come back out of the clouds so we very much wanted to walk that fine line between paying homage and being the next chapter and bringing the spirit of the first one.
“We had to think how we make our version our own and a standalone spectacle on its own, that people can watch for generations to come.”
Emily was intent on making her version of the iconic nanny distinct from Dame Julie Andrews’ performance in 1964’s ‘Mary Poppins’.
Dick Van Dyke – who starred in the original movie – makes a cameo appearance in ‘Mary Poppins Returns’, but Andrews declined the chance to appear in the film.
Emily explained: “I really understand why she didn’t want to be in it and it means a lot to me that she chose to not do it in the way that she did.
“She said she just didn’t want it to be her show, she wanted it to be my show, and I thought it was so gracious and so sweet and I understand that need to preserve and treasure that iconic image we all have of her. I really get that.”

Taylor Hanson is a father for the sixth time

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Hanson has become a father for the sixth time.
The Hanson singer and his wife Natalie welcomed their sixth child into the world, a son who they have named Claude Indiana Emmanuel Hanson.
They told People magazine: “Our new little man, Indy, is the best gift our family could imagine. His arrival brings with it a new sense of adventure and excitement for the future.”
Claude has sisters Wilhelmina “Willa” Jane, six, and Penelope “Penny” Anne, 13, as well as brothers Viggo Moriah, 10, River Samuel, 12, and Jordan Ezra, 16. He also has seven cousins from uncles Zac Hanson and Isaac Hanson’s families.
Taylor and Natalie announced the new addition to their family in August with a post on Instagram, which read: “What’s better than being a dad of five? Perhaps being a dad of six. Baby Hanson coming in December and we are over the moon.”
Whilst Natalie added on her own page: “Taylor and I are so thrilled to share the news that baby number six is coming this December! Ezra, Penny, River, Viggo and especially Wilhelmina can’t wait to be big brothers and sisters again!”
Taylor couldn’t wait to add one more person to their “tribe”.
He said at the time: “Natalie and I have always kept a love of adventure and pursuit of rich experiences at the heart of our family. There’s no greater adventure than welcoming a sixth little person to our tribe … We’ll definitely have a little bit of quiet time when the baby’s born, thankfully, but the life train will continue to move quickly so we’ll be excited to introduce them to this family they’re entering, which is pretty much on the move all the time.”

Emma Stone OK with not being liked

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Stone has learned to be OK with not everyone “liking her”.
The ‘La La Land’ star admits she used to “fall over herself” to impress people and get them to like her but she has now realised that some are just “unwinnable”.
She told the February 2019 issue of British Vogue magazine: “It’s OK if not everybody likes you. And that doesn’t make it more appealing to convince them of why you are likeable. It’s interesting, you saying about the public persona of my ‘charm’ or whatever. Part of that is my damage, you know. Part of that is my flaw … so that was a major lesson, not falling over myself to win over the unwinnable … nobody knows what they’re doing! We’re all just a bunch of people trying to figure out how to get through the day.”
Meanwhile, Emma previously revealed turning 30 has helped her look back on her life in a clearer way, as well as figuring out what she wants from the future.
She explained: “My twenties were a really interesting time, and there’s been a lot that has happened in these past 10 years, both positive and not as positive. It’s weird how much turning 30 crystallises your life. Instead of just living the dreams that I had in my youth and getting to do the job that I love to do and making friends and going through all of that, it’s like, now what do I actively want as an adult?”
