Sophie Kasaei lands Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Kasaei and Nathan Henry have landed cameos in ‘Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club’.
The ‘Geordie Shore’ stars secretly shot scenes in the ‘Mean Girls’ actress’ latest show – which documents the launch of her new club, Lohan Beach House, in Mykonos – after heading to Greece to film the programme over the summer, but they are yet to meet the 32-year-old star.
Sophie said: “Me and Nathan had an absolute blast.
“We filmed for her show but we never really got to see her because she was always behind the scenes.”
Sophie also admitted she and Nathan were clueless as to “what was going on” while shooting the show.
She is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: “We weren’t cast members so we didn’t really know what was going on.”
The programme will see Lindsay calling the shots with her handpicked team of young and ambitious VIP hosts who will have to do whatever it takes to secure her name as the definition of holiday luxury.
But staff will soon learn that she is a tougher boss than they may have been expecting.
Lindsay – who has entered rehab on many occasions to receive treatment for drug and alcohol addiction – recently admitted she chose to “disappear” from Hollywood following numerous “ups and downs”, and she is now keen to take her life down a different route by being her own boss.
She said: “I live my life in the public eye … I know the ups and downs of being in the spotlight.
“People judge me every second … so I disappeared.
“Now, I wanna do things differently, I wanna be my own boss.”
‘Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club’ airs on MTV UK at 1am on Tuesday January 8th, 2019, and is repeated at 10pm on Wednesday January 9th.

Cheryl compares Greatest Dancer to ‘competitive’ X Factor

OHMYGOSSIP — Cheryl says ‘The Greatest Dancer’ judges aren’t as competitive as ‘The X Factor’ panellists – because Simon Cowell isn’t on the show.
The 35-year-old singer makes up one third of the panel on the new BBC dance talent show alongside ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro Oti Mabuse and ‘Glee’ star Matthew Morrison, but she admits the ITV series felt “more competitive”.
She said: “There was definitely more of a competitive nature among the judges. Probably because Simon was sat there.
“Really, it did feel more competitive with ‘The X Factor’ because at the end somebody was winning a massive record contract and you felt responsible for their career.”
The winner of the inaugural ‘Greatest Dancer’ will take home a £50,000 prize pot and win the chance to perform one night on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, compared to ‘The X Factor’ champion landing a million pound record deal.
And Cheryl hinted there isn’t as much pressure on the BBC show as a result.
She added: “With this show, you’re helping them to win £50,000 – which is awesome – and to perform on ‘Strictly’ so you’re just giving, giving and giving.
“You’re not trying to create a career. Hopefully a platform but not a career.”
Cheryl’s comments come after ‘Dancing on Ice’ judge Jason Gardiner questioned the singer’s dance credentials ahead of the show’s debut in the new year.
He said: “The judging line up on that is questionable as well … what’s her dance background? Where is her dance background?
“She went to Royal Ballet School that you pay for, an extortionate amount to go to because mum and dad just want to drop you off somewhere for the holidays.”

Taron Egerton wanted ‘grown up’ Robin Hood

OHMYGOSSIP — Taron Egerton wishes ‘Robin Hood’ hadn’t lost some of it’s more “grown up” scenes.
The 29-year-old actor portrays the title character in director Otto Bathurst’s new adaptation of the classic tale – which also features the likes of Jamie Dornan as Will Scarlet and Jamie Foxx as Little John – and thought he’s pleased with the fast-paced thriller, he admitted he has “mourned” some of the more serious subjects that were cut from the finished film.
He said “I’m pleased with it. It’s much quicker than I thought it would be – it moves very fast and it’s very entertaining.
“Maybe there are some character moments that have gone by the wayside that I mourned slightly.
“Like, originally, there’s a little more racial tension early on between me and Jamie, which I thought made it feel more grown-up.
“But we set out to make a high-octane thrill ride and I think Otto’s pulled that off.”
While Taron enjoyed making the movie, he admitted it was “daunting” taking on such an iconic role.
He said “It was daunting. This is the first time I’ve stepped into the role of a heroic figure who’s so established, like a superhero.
“It was nerve-wracking but I felt I could make it my own a little bit.”
The actor was particularly keen to show the “vulnerable” side of the character
He said: “I wanted to show that side of him and while I love watching guys like The Rock and Bruce WIllis in action movie like this, you don’t see them being very vulnerable when they’re playing those larger-than-life heroes.
“So I wanted to show the boy within.
“Having said that, I’d f***ing kill to work with The Rock.”

Sandra Bullock: I get ‘so panicked’ over my kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Sandra Bullock says she “constantly has to override” her fears about her kids.
The 54-year-old actress has admitted she’s “so panicked about everything” when it comes to sending her two children – eight-year-old Louis and six-year-old Laila – out into the world, so she always has to overcome her fears in order to let them have some level of freedom.
Speaking to People magazine, she said: “You get so good at saying no and you’re so panicked about everything. You literally have to stop and say, ‘Why did I just say no? Why don’t we just play hooky from school one day and just go enjoy life?’ I’m constantly having to override my fear.”
Her comments come after she previously revealed she can be “a little neurotic” when it comes to her kids, as the current state of the world leaves her “afraid every day” of what might happen to her children whilst they’re at school.
The ‘Bird Box’ star said: “I now realise what it feels like to be afraid every single day because I love my kids to the point where I’m a little neurotic, in what’s happening out in the world, and am I a good mother?
“When you leave the house and they go to school, I check my phone constantly, did the school call, is something, are you gonna get hurt, if they’re leaving with somebody else, I panic. I have to learn how to relax within a world that spins that kind of worry and remind myself and my children that it is also a hopeful place.”
Sandra relies on her boyfriend of three years Bryan Randall to calm her nerves, because he has an “understanding of fearlessness” when it comes to parenting.
But the ‘Ocean’s 8’ actress says she still finds herself “afraid”, as she wants to do whatever she can to “protect” her children.
She added: “I don’t. I’m afraid and I want to make sure that I do everything in my power to protect these two beautiful children that I’ve been blessed to raise.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dwayne Johnson cherishes every moment he gets to “snatch” with his youngest daughters.
The ‘Rampage’ actor took to Instagram on Friday (28.12.18) to share a heart-warming picture of eight-month-old Tiana and three-year-old Jasmine – whom he has with long-time partner Lauren Hashian – in his giant wrestler’s arms, and in an emotional message, he vowed to “protect” his little girls “for the rest” of his life and treasure them being small enough and willing to be held.
Alongside the festive snap of the three of them in front of their Christmas tree, he wrote: “Daddy’s arms.
“I ain’t gonna be able to hold ’em like this forever, so you better believe I snatch these cookies and love ’em up every moment I can.
“Plus, I know there’s gonna come a day where in daddy’s arms is the last place they want to be.
“Baby Tiana Gia is already there with the “help me” look on her face
“Can’t guarantee I’ll love and protect all my daughters for the rest of their lives, but I can guarantee I will for the rest of mine.
#xmas #daddysarms #helpme (sic)”
Meanwhile, the 46-year-old actor – who also has 17-year-old daughter Simone with ex-spouse Dany Garcia – has a new found respect for women after helping to deliver baby Tiana in April.
The 46-year-old wrestler-turned-actor was hands-on when Lauren went into labour, and admitted the experience changed his outlook on women and mothers forever.
He said: “I was encouraging her – holding her hand. And the doctor said, ‘Would you like to come down and watch and help?’
“I said, ‘Yup, I’m going to come down. Watch. Help.
“I will say, it was the most amazing experience I’ve ever seen.
“I look at Lauren, and women and mothers, in a different light than I ever have before. And it was beautiful.
“I’m holding legs, everything. And out comes the baby.
“I know, right? Crazy. Cause you roll the dice, you don’t know how it’s going go to go. A lot of stuff happens.”

Danny Dyer is ‘in a good place’ now

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer is “in a good place”, following “a few nutty years”.
The 41-year-old actor flew to South Africa in early 2017 to take a well-deserved break from his hectic schedule starring as loveable pub landlord Mick Carter on BBC soap ‘EastEnders’, and has now said that he’s feeling much better after having taken the time to clear his head.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, Danny said: “I was a car crash. I had a few nutty years. When you have a bit of fame you have a responsibility to speak up.
“It comes with maturity. It comes with experience. It takes us a long time to grow up as men. I have been reaping the rewards now and I am in a good place. It is all good.”
Danny took almost a month away from the soap in February 2017, and spent the time in South Africa for a holiday, as friends believed he was exhausted after working non-stop since joining the show in 2013.
A source said at the time: “Danny knows he has to rest-up and recuperate. He has been ground down by the workload on ‘EastEnders’ and then partying on top of it.
“This trip is going to do him the world of good. He can remain anonymous there and he can properly rest. He’s hoping to come back refreshed and back into work.”
It was also claimed at the time that Danny would be using his break to take his wife Joanne Mas – whom he married in September 2016 after spending 20 years together – away to the Maldives in order to spend some quality time together.
The insider said: “Since they got married Danny has been working non stop, they haven’t had a lot of time together and he wants to make Jo feel special. He’s very focused on his family.”

Saoirse Ronan’s uncomfortable corset experience

OHMYGOSSIP — Saoirse Ronan found it “awkward” going to the toilet in a corset whilst filming ‘Mary Queen of Scots’.
The 24-year-old Irish American actress takes on the leading role in the forthcoming drama and has admitted it was rather “uncomfortable” being in the garment, which synchs the waist in, especially when she needed to use the bathroom.
Saoirse told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “They weren’t uncomfortable, just difficult to wear. We had to navigate our way around the corsets and five skirts we wore every day, and I had to ride horses in them. It was a whole new thing, so I got used to it.”
Asked if it was difficult using the WC, she replied: “Yes, but I’m not going to go into that.”
Despite her struggles wearing the tight-fitted clothing,
Saoirse said it was an “amazing feeling” when she was working on the film because the project was a dream come true.
She said: “The film focuses on the seven years before Mary’s arrest in England and we see Queen Elizabeth heavily involved in the politics of that time and the struggle against patriarchal authority.
“I’ve always wanted to play Mary and it was an amazing feeling to get to do it.”
The ‘Lady Bird’ star particularly enjoyed getting to show the monarch’s “very personal” side while exploring her “fascinating” story.
She said: “It’s a fascinating and compelling story and I couldn’t wait to play this character.
“We get to see Mary in a very personal way, which adds another layer to the story and all the politics, betrayals and conspiracies taking place.”
While the tale sees Mary at loggerheads with her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I – who is portrayed in ‘Mary Queen Of Scots’ by Margot Robbie – Saoirse believes the two women are very similar.
She explained: “Both women are trying to find purpose in the rather mixed-up world they’re become part of.
“From Mary’s point of view, she’s someone who is genuinely trying to do her best and bring peace to a land that hasn’t known it for so long.
“But of course, she’s a threat to Queen Elizabeth.”

Tom Hanks’ Mr. Rogers biopic gets a title

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hanks’ Mr. Rogers biopic has been given an official title.
The 62-year-old actor is set to star as Fred Rogers – who hosted ‘Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood’, the popular educational children’s TV series of the 60s and 70s which aired on PBS – in the upcoming biographical film, and according to The Wrap, the production will be called ‘A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood’.
The fact-based drama is produced by Sony Pictures, and was previously known to the public as ‘You Are my Friend’, before the studio insisted there was no official title yet.
‘A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood’ is directed by Marielle Heller, and alongside Hanks as the TV icon himself, Matthew Rhys plays journalist Lloyd Vogel, and the likes of Enrico Colantoni, Chris Cooper, Tammy Blanchard, and Sakina Jaffrey help fill out the cast list.
The story is based on Alexis Jolly’s screenplay which was sold in 2013 – though the final script for the movie was written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster – and tells the true story of jaded journalist Tom Junod, who has his worldview changed when he realises Mr. Rogers’s sincerity is genuine.
However, the production was struck by disaster earlier this year when 61-year-old sound mixer James Emswiller fell from the top of a building on the Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania set, and plummeted two stories to his death.
James was reportedly on a smoke break at the time of the incident, and in October it was claimed the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has opened an investigation into the death, which will take six months to complete.
A spokesperson said at the time: “If OSHA uncovers violations of any sort, citations will be issued.”
‘A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood’ is set to be released in October 2019.

Sia releasing new music in 2019

OHMYGOSSIP — Sia is releasing a new album in 2019.
The 43-year-old singer – who is famous for hiding her face under a huge wig for anonymity – has revealed she has plans to drop a brand new album next year, which will mark her ninth studio album and her first since her festive themed ‘Everyday Is Christmas’ album, released in November 2017.
Sia announced the release of her new music – which will also mark her first regular album since ‘This Is Acting’ in January 2016 – on Twitter, where she also claimed to be working on a “feature length musical”, which she said fans can also expect some time in 2019.
When one fan asked her when they could expect some new music, the ‘Cheap Thrills’ hitmaker responded: “Next year I’m releasing an album and a feature length musical I wrote and directed. Lots of fun things to come! (sic)”
Although Sia hasn’t released any albums in over a year, 2018 has still been busy for her as she’s teamed up with Diplo and Labrinth in supergroup LSD, worked with Dolly Parton on ‘Here I Am’ – which featured in the ‘Dumplin’ soundtrack – and released a standalone single called ‘I’m Still Here’.
She also contributed original songs to the soundtrack of ‘Vox Lux’, which stars Natalie Portman, and which hit cinema screens earlier this month.
Meanwhile, the ‘Elastic Heart’ singer previously admitted she’s struggled with her body image and has “dieted like crazy” to fit the “stereotype” of a pop star.
She said: “I have dieted like crazy over the last 10 years. Trying to fit into the stereotype of, like, ‘Hot pop star.’ Somebody did say, ‘You don’t have to be a model. You’re actually an artist … It literally doesn’t matter what you look like.'”

The Voice UK coaches excited by trio twist

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Voice UK’ coaches are looking forward to seeing how having trios on their teams will change the show.
The new twist to the traditional format of the ITV contest will see groups of three battle it out for a place on Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and Olly Murs’ teams, and they are all excited to see how the dynamic will be shaken up.
Jennifer believes it will make for a “much more fun” experience for both the coaches and the viewers at home.
She said: “It makes the Blinds that much more fun and interesting. When you hear one voice, you think ‘hmm, I wonder if they’re older or younger’, I wonder if it’s a male or female.
“But now we have trios it’s like … ‘who is singing what?'”
Whilst Tom believes having trios means “average” singers have the chance to shine.
He said: “Sometimes you can get three average singers but when they come together with their harmonies they become something else, which is great.”
Olly has already let slip that each of coach has a trio on their team.
He said: “All four of us have got a trio each – it wasn’t intentional, it just happened.”
Black Eyed Peas star will – who is in a trio with his bandmates – says that the trios will need to have a strong bond to make it.
He added: “Friendship. When the bond is 100% real. It’s not about money, it’s not about fame.”
The spinning-chair talent show’s host, Emma Willis, is also looking forward to seeing how it works, and is intrigued to see how it will work in the battle stages, if a trio goes against another group of three.
According to Digital Spy, she said: “It adds another layer, doesn’t it? Trios. What I’m looking forward to in the battles is finding out how they make that work.
“And what happens if there’s a trio against a trio? “That’s a lot of voices to make work together. Or even a trio against a duo. Or four voices when it’s three against one.”
‘The Voice UK’ begins on January 5 from 8pm on ITV.

Aretha Franklin’s estate pays 3m in back taxes

OHMYGOSSIP — Aretha Franklin’s estate has paid $3 million in back taxes to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) since her death.
TMZ has obtained documents filed by the IRS, claiming that the late Queen of Soul – who died in August at the age of 76 – owes more than $6.3 million in back taxes from 2012 to 2018 and $1.5 million in penalties.
However, attorney David Bennett, who represents Aretha’s estate, has insisted that $3 million has been paid since her death and all of her tax returns have been filed.
He added that the IRS is auditing the estate and they are disputing some of the filings but that the estate in turn is questioning what the IRS refers to as “income”.
Back in November, Aretha’s Detroit mansion – which she bought in 1993 but almost lost it in 2008 due to unpaid property taxes totalling almost $20,000 – was sold for $300,000.
Meanwhile, it was revealed after her death that the ‘I Say a Little Prayer’ hitmaker hadn’t left a will, meaning her four sons, Clarence, 63, Edward, 61, Ted, 54, and Kecalf, 48, may have to wait years to find out how much of their mother’s estate they’re entitled to.
Don Wilson – a lawyer based in Los Angeles who worked for Aretha for 30 years – was previously quoted as saying: “I tried to convince her that she should do not just a will but a trust while she was still alive.
“She never told me, ‘No, I don’t want to do one.’ She understood the need. It just didn’t seem to be something she got around to.”
Mr. Wilson added: “She was a private person.”
Aretha owned her estate and maintained ownership of the songs she wrote – except her most popular singles like ‘Respect’.

Debbie Reynolds had ‘a vision’ of Carrie Fisher’s death

OHMYGOSSIP — Debbie Reynolds had a premonition that her daughter Carrie Fisher was going to die.
The mother and daughter actresses died two years ago, just a day apart, with ‘Star Wars’ legend Carrie tragically suffering a cardiac arrest on a plane four days before she died on December 27, whilst her parent passed away the following day, aged 84.
According to Debbie’s close friend, Sue Cameron, the ‘Singin’ In The Rain’ star had a vision that something was going to happen to her daughter, who was 60 when she died, after an “experience with death”.
Sue told People.com: “I made it a point to go over every three weeks to see Debbie, and on that last day that I saw her, on 21 December, she told me she had had a vision the night before. She called it an ‘experience with death.'”
Sue remembered Debbie saying: ‘Oh all right, I guess this is it … I guess it wasn’t for me.’
She added: “But in hindsight, I realised the cloud settled over the exact spot where Carrie always sat on Debbie’s bed.”
Meanwhile, Carrie’s daughter Billie Lourd marked the second anniversary of her mother’s death with an emotional song this week.
Taking to Instagram to post a touching video, in which she performs a ballad on piano, the ‘Scream Queens’ star captioned the clip: “It has been two years since my Momby’s death and I still don’t know what the “right” thing to do on a death anniversary is (I’m sure a lot of you feel the same way about your loved ones).
“So I decided to do something a little vulnerable for me, but something we both loved to do together – sing. This is the piano her father gave her and this was one of her favorite songs. (sic)”
Billie – who was left devastated after losing her grandmother the day after her mother’s passing – added that her career as an actress helps her stay “happy” in the wake of her mother’s passing, and hopes the song can “encourage” others who have lost someone to “keep on moving”.
She continued: “And as the song says, we must “keep on moving”. I’ve found that what keeps me moving is doing things that make me happy, working hard on the things that I’m passionate about and surrounding myself with people I love and making them smile.
“I hope this encourages anyone feeling a little low or lost to “keep on moving”. As my Momby once said, “take your broken heart and turn it into art” – whatever that art may be for you. (sic)”

Kylie Jenner’s endless Christmas

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Jenner was still unwrapping Christmas presents on December 27.
The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star revealed she was back home continuing the festivities by unboxing the remaining gifts under her tree at the home she shares with boyfriend Travis Scott and their 10-month old daughter Stormi.
Sharing a clip of the presents on her Instagram Story, she said: “Home, to finish unwrapping all these gifts … my Christmas is not over!”
2018 marked the first Christmas for Kylie as a mother, after welcoming her little girl into the world in February.
Kylie has had a hectic holiday so far after making an appearance with the tot at her mother Kris Jenner’s famous Christmas Eve party.
However, the 21-year-old beauty mogul didn’t stay too long, as she rushed home to continue mommy duties.
She told her 122 million followers in a previous clip with her little girl: “This is me leaving the party early to go give my baby a bath (while wearing this dress because I couldn’t get it off by myself) and put her to sleep and it was the best xmas eve yet.”
The lavish bash, staged at the Hidden Hills home of the matriarch’s daughter Kim Kardashian West and son-in-law Kanye West, reportedly cost $500,000.
The 63-year-old reality star spared no expense in making sure the family’s 200 guests had a great time – and insiders insisted the celebration, which will be seen on ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’, is worth every penny.
The source explained: “The party needs to be eye-popping because it sets the tone for their empire, it creates a fantasy world and makes people want to tune in so $500,000 is nothing for them.
“The grand spectacle of the party also helps sell Kylie’s makeup, Kim’s perfumes, and Khloe’s jeans. It’s all about image.”
The biggest expense was to create a snowy backyard so guests could go sledging, while a number of tents were erected, including one for performances by the likes of John Legend.

Jason Momoa was scared of Nicole Kidman

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Momoa was “extremely scared” about meeting Nicole Kidman.
The 39-year-old actor had “one of the greatest acting experiences” he’s ever had shooting ‘Aquaman’ alongside the ‘Big Little Lies’ star and admitted he was in awe of the Australian actress because she’s been so successful.
He said: “I was extremely scared because I was like, ‘Oh my God, she’s so amazing.’
“I’ve never worked with anyone that came close to an Academy Award. She was just this amazing woman and one of the greatest acting experiences I’ve ever had.
“Just to see someone that could change it after doing something over 40 times and constantly reinventing and just having fun with it and just seeing how she handled James [Wan, director], it was just beautiful.
“She was so intelligent with her choices and it was cool.”
Nicole plays Queen Atlanna of Atlantic, the father of Jason’s character Arthur Curry/ Aquaman, and he was a lot less restrained when he met Temuera Morrison, who plays his father, for the first time.
Jason recalled to SciFiNow magazine: “I really looked up to him and I wanted him as my father. So that was one of my big requests, I wanted him to play my father.
“When I met him, I tackled him, he was kind of freaked out.
“I’m like a big dog that is like – I’m very happy, I’m easily excited. So I grabbed him and gave him lots of kisses.”
Jason shares a lot of scenes with Amber Heard, who plays Mera, and they had a great time working together.
He said: The film’s fun and you laugh and there’s unbelievable action. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done physically.
“This definitely has that in there, so I’m like, ‘That’s covered.’
“We had a great time together. I’m f***ing hilarious, Amber’s f***ing hilarious and we just had a great time.”

Rebecca Hall: I’ve always wanted to star in an extreme comedy

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebecca Hall has always dreamed of starring in an “extreme comedy”.
The 36-year-old actress appears alongside comedy duo Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in ‘Holmes & Watson’, and she’s admitted that starring in the movie is the realisation of a long-held ambition.
Rebecca explained: “I’m a big believer in trying to do a lot of different genres and different types of things as an actor.
“I think it makes you stronger as an actor. I have really, for a long time, wanted to do some quite extreme comedy, not just more like drama-comedy.”
Rebecca – who previously starred in hits such as ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ and ‘Frost/Nixon’ – wears Victorian-era attire in ‘Holmes & Watson’.
And the actress has revealed that getting ready for the shoot was a time-consuming process.
She told Screen Rant: “We’re in there are about 24 hours before shooting … A long time.”
Meanwhile, Rebecca previously admitted to making a “few personal compromises” in order to realise her ambitions in the film business.
Reflecting on her career, she explained: “I don’t know how you make a living without a few personal compromises.
“You don’t have the opportunity to make the indie film you give a s**t about without making a few of the bigger ones too.
“Of course, there is no way of knowing if a film is going to be good. I’ve worked on so many films where the script is one thing and then, somewhere down the line – on set, sometimes – it changes and there’s zero I can do about it. I’m thinking of one film in particular, but I had better not say.”

Van Morrison quits smoking for voice

OHMYGOSSIP — Van Morrison quit smoking to preserve his voice.
The 73-year-old singer doesn’t take particular measures to ensure his vocals are as strong as ever, but he tries not to talk too much and gave up cigarettes as he realised they were having an impact.
Asked how he looks after his voice, he said: “I don’t like to overuse it, but the thing is I stopped smoking because that was a major realisation because I was losing it.”
The ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ hitmaker admitted there have been times in the past when he wanted to quit making music, but had to carry on because he needed the money.
He said: “I don’t know if that ever goes away but there’s also certain times when you need to work.
“For instance, if you have to pay a lot of bills.
“Or if what you thought you had, you don’t really have, you know? So you go out and make more, to survive.
“That’s happened to me a couple of times. A couple of times.”
Van has a prolific discography behind him but insists nothing is ever particularly planned in terms of a concept behind his albums.
He told MOJO magazine: “There’s not a lot of thinking about this. It’s not premeditated.
“You have ideas and sometimes you run with them and sometimes you suppress them. You’re just going with whatever seems right at that particular time.
“That idea, that concept, a month later I might be, ‘Why did I do that?’ It’s just whatever is coming up at the time.”
