Dancing On Ice inspires new Amazon Prime teen drama

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Dancing On Ice’ has inspired a big-budget skating drama for Amazon Prime.
It’s said the streaming platform has been won over by the popularity of the ITV show – which is hosted by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby – and plans for a new programme are in the pipeline from Lime Pictures.
According to The Sun newspaper’s TV Bizarre column, the production company behind the likes of ‘Hollyoaks’ and ‘Grande Hill’ are looking to launch a teen drama about the “dark side” of the sport.
A source said: “Skating has become hugely popular off the back of ‘Dancing On Ice’, Margot Robbie’s film ‘I, Tonya’ and the recent ITV drama, ‘Torvill & Dean’.
“Lime Pictures decided that the brutal training regime and extremely competitive nature of ice skating would be great starting point for a drama.
“The storyline is being kept under wraps — but it’s going to shed light on the dark side of skating as the characters gamble their friendships to reach the top of their game.”
Meanwhile, Netflix will debut its own skating show – ‘Spinning Out’ – later this year, with Emma Roberts joining ‘Skins’ star Kaya Scodelario for the 10-part drama.
The new series of ‘Dancing On Ice’ itself launched on Sunday (06.01.19) with celebrities like Gemma Collins, Saira Khan and Brian McFadden taking to the rink.
Creative director Dan Whiston – who won the first series of the show in March 2006 with actress Gaynor Faye – has also told viewers to “watch this space” for potential upcoming romances.
He said: “I understand why people fall for their partners sometimes because you work so closely and have such a close relationship.
“It’s happened before and it will happen again, so I will say watch this space. Sometimes boundaries are crossed, however, sometimes it can’t be helped, things develop, things happen and love and relationships do blossom.
“So watch this space on that front.”

Bryan Cranston wasn’t sure about Kevin Hart’s dramatic skills

OHMYGOSSIP — Bryan Cranston wasn’t convinced about Kevin Hart as his co-star in ‘The Upside’.
The ‘Breaking Bad’ actor appears opposite the comedian in the upcoming drama following an unlikely friendship between a paralysed billionaire and a recently paroled convict hired to look after him.
Speaking to Cinemablend, Bryan admitted: “Can I tell you the truth? I didn’t know if [Kevin Hart] could do this.
“That was the honest truth, and I asked that we could arrange for lunch because I wanted to talk to him to find out: does he realize that this is not a full on slapstick comedy? Big comedy chops that he has, but can he be grounded?”
Neil Burger’s movie – which initially premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival – is a remake of the 2011 French film ‘The Intouchables’, which was inspired Philippe Pozzo di Borgo.
The wealthy businessman became a diabetic quadriplegic following a paragliding accident.
Cranston’s scepticism about Hart’s talents proved to be misled after the pair got together to talk about the project.
He added: “I came away from the restaurant, and I’m not kidding. I came away and I told my wife, Robin, I said, ‘He’s got this.’ ‘Really, does he?’ “I said, ‘Oh yeah.’ ‘How do you… did you read a scene?’ I go, ‘No, no, we didn’t have to read anything. We just talked about it.’
“And I swear to you, I thought [Kevin Hart is] going to be really good in this.”
The movie was originally set to be distributed by The Weinstein Company in March last year, but it was put on hold and then sold of following the sexual abuse scandal surrounding Harvey Weinstein.
The project was later bought by STX Entertainment and Lantern Entertainment.

Charli XCX hints at Christine and the Queens collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX has hinted she wants to collaborate with Christine and the Queens.
The ‘1999’ hitmaker took to Twitter recently to ask her fans – known as Angels – for suggestions on who she should collaborate with.
She wrote: “making songs. who should feature? (sic)”
A few days later, she retweeted the ‘Tilted’ hitmaker’s post, which teased: “2019 should be about collaborations.”
Chris has released two albums to acclaim – 2014’s ‘Chaleur humaine’ and last year’s ‘Chris’ – but she is yet to put out a big name collaboration.
The ‘Boom Clap’ hitmaker has previously released songs with the likes of Troye Sivan, Carly Rae Jepsen, Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora.
The 26-year-old pop star is currently hard at work on her first full-length release since 2014’s ‘Sucker’.
Last week, Charli updated her loyal following to say it’s “about time” she releases an album.
Sharing her New Year’s Resolutions written on an iPhone Note, which read: “New Years Resolutions:
“1. Make an album
“2. Release it (sic)”, she captioned the Twitter post: “about time, right?? (sic)”
The ‘Doing It’ hitmaker was blown away by how well ‘1999’, which features Troye, performed in the charts – it peaked at number 13 in UK – and had said she planned on rewarding her fans, known as her Angels, by dropping her first studio album in five years, if the track shifted two places up.
Sharing a link to download the track, Charli tweeted in December: “UMMM ANGELS WTF?! IF THIS GOES TOP 10 I’LL MAKE ANOTHER ALBUM AND DROP IT NEXT YEAR. https://ad.gt/1999 (sic)”
Despite having released two mixtapes – ‘Number 1 Angel’ and ‘Pop 2’ – and several singles since her last full album, Charli had previously admitted she doesn’t have a plan when it comes to her music in the future.
She said: “You know, I don’t really know. I don’t really have a plan, so to speak. I’m just kind of releasing what I want when I want. I’m not sure what’s next. Maybe it’s an album, maybe it’s not an album, maybe there’s never an album, maybe there are 10 more mixtapes. I’m just kind of doing what I want to do and seeing where I go.”

Stormzy promises ‘headline performance’ for Glastonbury 2019

OHMYGOSSIP — Stormzy promises he will deliver a worthy “headline performance” at Glastonbury 2019.
The ‘Big For Your Boots’ hitmaker will top the bill on the legendary Pyramid Stage this summer, and he has vowed to prove his critics wrong when he appears at Worthy Farm.
Speaking in the February issue of Elle UK – which hits newsstands on Thursday (10.01.19) – he said: “I get it. Only one album, where’s all the numbers ones?
“But I think the argument doesn’t even deserve the fuel. When June 28 comes, either everyone will be proved right or wrong, but I am the headliner and I will come and give you a headline performance.”
Stormzy – who played the festival in 2017 when the graced the Other Stage – has been met with some backlash because so far he’s only released his debut album ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’.
However, he added: “This is the biggest moment. The biggest stage, the biggest all-eyes-on-me kind of spotlight in my career, ever.
“But if you are waiting for the headliner to give you the Glastonbury headline-calibre performance then have no fear, calm down, settle.”
His confident comments come after Ed Sheeran – who headlined the event himself almost two years ago – backed the grime star to nail his performance.
He previously said: “Stormzy’s got a new album coming he’s going to fill that hour and a half, trust me.
“The guy that I’ve been working with on my stuff is working on his stuff. We’ve kind of collaborated on a few things and yeah, from what I’ve heard, it’s very good.”
The 27-year-old singer praised the decision to have a grime artist top the bill this year.
He explained: “This is a great step forward, it’s a massive moment for grime music and a massive moment for young UK music as well and I think it’s so good that they’re building up a new headliner.”

Huw Edwards asked to do Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Huw Edwards was asked to do ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 57-year-old newsreader was sat in the audience as a guest on the BBC One ballroom and Latin show last year, and he has revealed he could be set to swap the newsroom for the dancefloor after he was invited to take part in 2019’s series.
However, Huw – who was labelled a “silver fox” after shedding three stone last summer – wants to “gauge public opinion” before he agrees to anything.
Speaking to Steve Wright on BBC Radio 2, he said: “Following my stellar appearance reading out the terms and conditions in early December, where I basically set the British television world alight, I was asked if I’d consider Strictly.
“And I think the answer is, Steve, I’ve come here today for some advice. Despite all appearances, I am quite shy.”
Admitting he’s intimidated by the glitzy costumes, he added: “That’s what scares me.
“I think I’ve just got to ponder it  . . .  just gauge public opinion.”
Huw wouldn’t be the first newsreader to compete on the show, if he does sign up.
This year saw Kate Silverton compete, Bill Turnbull came sixth in series three and Natasha Kaplinsky won the first ever series in 2004.
Chris Evans recently confirmed he will compete on this year’s show, whilst Alan Carr revealed he was approached, but will be too busy to take part in 2019.
He said: “Oh my listen. Listen! I will do it but next year I’ve got a busy year, I’m going on tour!
“They cornered me and they said, ‘Would you do it?’ and I would do it but I hate those VTs where you know, ‘We’re doing Salsa so we’re off to a dips factory,’ you know what I mean?
“They go to Chester Zoo or a museum, but I’m like, I need to be in the studio now doing the Argentine Tango. Step away from the rhino – I want to stick a rose in my mouth and do the thing!”

Margot Robbie’s Barbie movie partners with Mattel and Warner Bros.

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie’s live-action ‘Barbie’ movie is moving forward with a partnership between Warner Bros. and Mattel.
The ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ star is set to portray the world famous doll – a role which was previously linked to both Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway – through her LuckyChap production company, and now it has been confirmed that toy company Mattel has closed a deal with the entertainment giant to get their first-ever live-action film on the big screen.
Margot said: “Playing with Barbie promotes confidence, curiosity and communication throughout a child’s journey to self-discovery.
“Over the brand’s almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president.
“I’m so honoured to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide. I can’t imagine better partners than Warner Bros. and Mattel to bring this film to the big screen.”
According to Variety, Sony Pictures, who were originally planning on running the film, reportedly pulled out last year.
Ynon Kreiz, chairman and CEO of Mattel, commented: “Barbie is one of the most iconic franchises in the world and we are excited to partner with Warner Bros. Pictures and Margot Robbie to bring her to life on the big screen.”
The plot follows the titular character as she is expelled from Barbie Land for failing to live up to the perfection expected of its residents.
A director for the movie, which has been in the works since 2017, is yet to be decided.
The movie was initially pushed back to 2020, but with the new agreement between Mattel and Warner Bros., it’s not know if this will change.

Duchess of Sussex’s brother wants to end rift with wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duchess of Sussex’s half-brother hopes his wedding can reunite their family.
Thomas Markle Jr. is set to marry Darlene Blount in March after getting engaged on New Year’s Eve (31.12.18) and though he wasn’t among the guests when the former actress married Prince Harry last May, he’s vowed to invite the royal couple – who are expecting their first child together – to his nuptials and hopes it can end the rift between Meghan and her father, Thomas Markle Sr. and other members of their clan.
Thomas told DailyMail TV: “Absolutely I think our wedding will bring the family closer together. It’s hopeful that if Meghan and Harry came and my father… Meghan and Harry could spend some time together with him and that would be good.”
The 52-year-old window fitter began dating Darlene, 38, not long after the former ‘Suits’ star began romancing Harry and he admitted his bride-to-be thought he was “crazy” when he revealed his famous connections.
Darlene said: “I thought he was completely crazy.”
Thomas added: “I remember that very well — Meghan and Harry had just started dating and I mentioned it to her and she looked at me like, ‘Yeah, who is this guy? Whatever! He’s crazy.’ But it turned out really nice and we’ve had a really good time ever since. [We’ve had] ups and downs but we’ve managed to make it so far.”
The 37-year-old duchess hasn’t spoken to her father – who confessed to staging paparazzi photographs ahead of her nuptials – since the night before her wedding.
And the retired lighting director, who pulled out of attending Meghan and Harry’s wedding due to ill health, recently claimed to have been “ghosted” by his daughter.
He said: “I’m not sure why it’s happening. I love my daughter very much. I wish she would reach out, send me a text, anything. There has to be a place for me. I’m her father.”

Rose McGowan makes plea deal in drugs case

OHMYGOSSIP — Rose McGowan has reached a plea agreement following her arrest for drug possession in 2017.
The ‘Charmed’ actress – who was arrested for possession of cocaine two years ago – has agreed to plead no contest to a reduced drug charge in order to avoid putting her loved ones through the “emotional strain” of a trial and will pay a fine instead of facing a maximum of 10 years in jail.
Rose will officially enter her plea when she appears in court in Loudoun County, Virginia, later this month.
Her attorney, James W. Hundley said in a statement: “The Commonwealth has agreed to reduce the current felony charge to a misdemeanor of possession of a controlled substance.
“Ms. McGowan will enter a plea of no contest to the reduced charge when she appears in court on January 15, and the Commonwealth will recommend a sentence that requires Ms. McGowan to pay a fine.
“Ms. McGowan has accepted this agreement in order to spare her family, her friends and her supporters the emotional strain of a criminal trial.
“The agreement brings this ordeal to an end and allows her to focus all of her energy on what matters most to her – creating a better world.”
The 45-year-old actress was initially charged with felony drug possession after cocaine was allegedly discovered in a wallet she left behind on a flight to Dulles International Airport in Washington D.C. on her way to the Women’s March in January 2017.
A warrant was issued by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police in February 2017, but it did not come to light until almost nine months later. Rose then turned herself into authorities and was placed under arrest.
She has previously claimed that disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein could have been involved in planting the drugs because of the “underhanded targeting” of her “by the fallen mogul”, stemming from her decision to speak about about her allegations that she was raped by the filmmaker.
In court papers filed last February, her lawyer Jessica Carmichael wrote: “There is simply no point in time at which the evidence places Ms. McGowan and the cocaine together in the same place.
“It is now public knowledge that Weinstein employed underhanded tactics to ‘silence’ his victims.”
She also cited reports that Weinstein hired private investigators to follow women who had made accusations against him.

Robbie Williams dreams of Tom Cruise

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams keeps dreaming about Tom Cruise.
The ‘Angels’ hitmaker has admitted he was been hanging out with some Hollywood a-listers in his sleep, including the ‘Mission: Impossible’ blockbuster star.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I have nightmares every night, intermixed with hanging out with celebrities in my dreams, weirdly.
“It’s either nightmares, me going out with celebrities, or a mixture of both.
“Two people I’ve hung out with recently in my dreams that are an absolute hoot are Tom Cruise and Ben Affleck.”
Robbie, 44, revealed the dream meetings didn’t cross over at all, and admitted it has had an impact on how he perceives the stars in real life.
He added: “Not at the same time, but we had so much fun, we got on so well.
“Especially Ben, we were like two peas in a pod. I woke up and thought, ‘that Ben Affleck, he’s f***ing great value’ and I still think so.”
His dream revelations come after the star admitted he has turned to colouring books in a bid to relieve his cravings after giving up smoking.
Speaking in an Instagram Live video, he said: “I’m just doing some colouring in, which is good because I’ve got something to concentrate on. Art is good for my mind.”
Robbie – who has children Teddy, six, Charlton, four, and Coco, four months, with wife Ayda Field – is finding quitting the deadly habit very difficult and has been experiencing panic attacks as a result.
He added: “Anyone who is giving up smoking with me, keep on. The struggle is real. I’ve been all right all week, it’s been sort of six out of ten difficult and then in the last hour and a half I’ve just collapsed, panic attacks, over- whelmed . . . I’ve had to get out of the house just to calm down a little.”

Jordan Peele to appear in documentary Horror Noire

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Get Out’ director Jordan Peele is part of new documentary ‘Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror’ which explores the work of black filmmakers and characters in the genre.
The 39-year-old star is one of the interviewees in the doc which is based on a book of the same name and has been executive produced by ‘Horror Noire’ author Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman, Fangoria editor-in-chief Phil Nobile Jr. and UCLA educator Tananarive Due.
As well as Peele, the project features interviews with directors and cast members from classics like ‘Tales from the Hood’ and ‘Dawn of the Dead’ and investigates how horror storylines have been used to as societal commentaries on race issues.
Revealing why it was so important to get Peele involved, Due said: “After I saw Oscar winner Jordan’s ‘Get Out’, I created a UCLA class around Black Horror called ‘The Sunken Place’. The text I recommended was Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman’s ‘Horror Noire: Blacks in American Horror Films from the 1890s to the Present’. So I was so thrilled to help bring this story to life on the screen. ‘Horror Noire’ is about the history of black horror films, but it’s also a testament to the power of representation and how horror is such a visceral way to fight racial trauma: our real pain and fear, but from a safer distance – while we get stronger.”
Coleman is confident the documentary will educate people on how horror is “like a syllabus of our social, political, and racial world” and spark debate around the power of the genre.
The writer said: “The horror genre is daring, unflinching pedagogy. It is like a syllabus of our social, political, and racial world. The horror film is fascinating if for no other reason than that it prides itself on snuggling up next to the taboo, while confounding our sense of good and evil, the monstrous and divine, and the sacred and profane. It is one of the most intrepid of entertainment forms in its scrutiny of our humanity and our foibles. It is my sincere hope that ‘Horror Noire’ will spark fierce debate and trigger even more exacting, nuanced explorations into the power of horror.”‘
‘Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror’ will be available to stream on Shudder from February 7.
Peele received much critical acclaim for his 2017 film ‘Get Out’ which focused on African American character Chris Washington who is targeted by a racist community in a wealthy neighbourhood.
He is following that movie up by co-writing and producing the new ‘Candyman’ film.
The 1992 original was, like ‘Get Out’, centered around an African/America character – the murderous Candyman played by Tony Todd – and Peele admits the movie had a huge impact on him when he was younger, especially as Todd also starred in Tom Savini’s 1990 remake of George A. Romero’s zombie classic ‘Night of the Living Dead’.
He said: “The original was a landmark film for black representation in the horror genre. Alongside ‘Night of the Living Dead’, ‘Candyman’ was a major inspiration for me as a filmmaker. We are honored to bring the next chapter in the Candyman canon to life and eager to provide new audiences with an entry point to Clive Barker’s legend.”
The first film in the franchise was inspired by legendary horror author Clive Barker’s short story ‘The Forbidden’.

Speaking to US Glamour magazine, Taylor said: “I bleached my eyebrows for the Alexander McQueen show because Pat McGrath was doing the make-up. I was 18, and it was my first major London Fashion Week. My eyebrows are my thing! They’re my look, they’re my staple. I was crying, saying I couldn’t do it. And then Pat looks at me and she’s like, ‘Darling, it’s McQueen!’ So I did it.”
The Victoria’s Secret Angel loves painful massages as she thinks they are beneficial between workouts.

Lindsay Lohan to relaunch music career with help of sister?

OHMYGOSSIP — Lindsay Lohan wants to relaunch her pop career with the help of her sister Aliana.
The 32-year-old actress released two albums, ‘Speak’ and ‘A Little More Personal (Raw)’, in 2004 and 2005 respectively, and her last single was 2008’s ‘Bossy’.
A much-discussed third record never appeared, but the ‘Mean Girls’ star has now said she is hoping to hit the studio with her 25-year-old sibling – who released the festive LP ‘Lohan Holiday’ in 2006 – if her recently launched MTV show ‘Lindsay’s Lohan Beach Club’, which saw her revive ‘Bossy’, gets a second season.
Speaking to Billboard, Lindsay said: “My sister is coming out with her record and I want to support her in that.
“We’ve talked about writing together and maybe doing something together if we have season two (of Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club), or just in general.”
The ‘Freaky Friday’ star previously said she would consider moving back to New York if she ever took up music again.
Asked if she’d move back to the Big Apple, she said: “For music, maybe.”
But it isn’t only singing that Lindsay wants to focus her attention on, as she’s still interested in acting and previously admitted she would love the lead role in the upcoming live-action ‘Little Mermaid’ remake.
Asked about the role, she said: “I wish, I hope so.”
Her comments came after she admitted she wants to reprise her role as Cady Heron in another ‘Mean Girls’ movie and planned to track down writer Tina Fey and producer Lorne Michaels.
The Hollywood star – who admitted she’s “trying” to get the movie off the ground – said when she was in New York in 2017: “I’m here in New York, so Tina Fey better be hiding or I’m going to find her and Lorne Michaels. I know where his desk is.”

Grace Carter’s thankful for Dua Lipa’s friendship

OHMYGOSSIP — Grace Carter has become great friends with Dua Lipa.
The ‘Why Her Not Me’ hitmaker was taken under the wing of the 23-year-old pop superstar after she supported her on her 2017 tour, and she’s been thankful of her support ever since.
One of the biggest tips the ‘Electricity’ hitmaker has given the rising 21-year-old star is to “smile” and “enjoy” every moment, even if she is having an off day.
Asked what she has learnt from touring with the ‘New Rules’ hitmaker, Grace said: “So much. Dua’s become a friend and a really big supporter. I toured with her a year ago and it was the second tour I’d ever done.
“I think what she taught me was, if you’re having a bad day and if you’re struggling, just put a smile on your face and enjoy it as much as you can.
“She’s supported every song I’ve put out and it’s nice to have someone who’s a couple years ahead of you, who can give you advice and encourage you.”
Grace – who is signed to the same team as Dua and Lana Del Rey – released her debut EP ‘Saving Grace’ in 2018, and she says she can get “really tired” after pouring her heart out on sage each night with her emotional, soulful ballads, so she just crashes out, rather than go out partying.
On what she likes to do after performing, she told BBC News: “I’m so boring! After I do every show, I like to meet everyone. So I’ll come off stage, have a sip of water and I’ll come out and meet everyone.
“My music is very emotional anyway and people have really connected with it and given me a lot, and it’s really nice that I can talk to people and see what their story is and hear them out. That’s what they want from me and that’s what I want to do as well.
“And then I’ll usually just flop. Sometimes it gets quite hard to sing about the things I’m singing about, so get I really tired. My band go for drinks and I’m like, “I’m gonna go to bed, see you later!”
Grace came third in the BBC Sound of 2019 poll, with the overall winner still to be announced on BBC Radio 1 by Annie Mac on Friday (11.01.19).

Stella McCartney says Kate Moss and Kaia Gerber represent ‘wonder of women’

OHMYGOSSIP — Stella McCartney chose Kate Moss and Kaia Gerber to represent her eponymous brand because the two models represent the “wonder of women” across the generations.
The 47-year-old designer recently unveiled her latest collection at her spring/summer 2019 show and she selected 44-year-old supermodel Kate to represent “women of today” and 17-year-old rising star Kaia – whose mother is catwalk legend Cindy Crawford – to symbolise “women of tomorrow”.
Speaking to Vogue UK, she said: “I have a true connection with these women. For this season, I wanted to capture the wonder of women: the circle of life and the love of learning from those that inspire and came before us and are in the now. We represent women of any age.”
This will be supermodel Kate’s seventh time posing as the face of the label and Kaia’s first campaign, and the designer insists both models “bold beauty” shone through during the shoot.
Stella – whose father is Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney – said: “There was so much energy at the shoot! Kate and Kaia’s bold beauty really shine in these images … and our effortless relationships – how we choose to support one another over time – come through.”
A lot of Stella’s latest collection is made using environmentally friendly materials, including regenerated cashmere, organic cotton and denim, recycled nylon and sustainable viscose, and a favourite of the designer includes the new monogram cluster bags, which are made from environmentally-friendly cotton.
