Margot Robbie: I’m a terrible actor

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie thinks she’s a “terrible actor”.
The 28-year-old actress has been nominated for several awards including Oscars, BAFTAs, and Golden Globes, but admits she still isn’t confident in her own abilities, as she says she often has a “crisis of faith” in which she convinces herself she isn’t good at her job.
She said: “I have a huge crisis of faith and convince myself that I’m a terrible actor and I’m not actually any good at my job.”
And the ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ star says it’s often up to her 29-year-old husband Tom Ackerley to convince her of her talents.
She added to Australia’s Daily Telegraph newspaper: “My husband (Tom) is like ‘OK you know you say this every single time, you know this happens the week leading up’ … and then the first day is done and I’m like, ‘I think I can do this’.”
Meanwhile, Margot recently revealed she finds it “uninspiring” to be cast as “the wife or the girlfriend” in movies, and said she was careful about what roles she accepted early in her career so as not to be typecast in roles that would be “the catalyst for the male story line”.
She said: “When I was trying to make my name as an actress, creative roles for women were limited. I didn’t want to pick up another script where I was the wife or the girlfriend – just a catalyst for the male story line. It was uninspiring.”
In 2014, the ‘Suicide Squad’ star set up her own production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, and can’t believe it has taken Hollywood so many years to realise that more movies should be made “for women”.
She added: “When we set out to create our company, it was sort of a new idea, but then in response to the #MeToo conversation it was all that anyone was talking about. People were like, ‘Why don’t we make movies for women?’ Uh, what a revelation, right?”

Anne Hathaway found Oscars criticism tough

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne Hathaway says the hardest part about hosting the Oscars is “finding out how you actually did” the next day.
The 36-year-old actress hosted the Academy Awards ceremony with James Franco back in 2011, and has said that whilst it seemed easy at the time, the tricky part came with facing news reports and social media posts the day after, which evaluated her performance.
She said: “The next day. Finding out how you actually did. Because it feels nice, everybody tells you it’s going well while you’re doing it. While you’re doing it, it’s like doing anything, you know?”
But the ‘Ocean’s 8’ star insists that it doesn’t matter if a host “bombs” their performance, because they’re still “lucky” to have had the chance to take part in the prestigious event.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, she said: “My approach to all this stuff is really simple: we’re lucky. Whether or not it does well or it bombs, this is the stuff of dreams. This is not something to get upset about. Now, that being said, when it really bombs, it does sting a bit. I think it might end up being a net positive over life. Well, the lessons that I learned, the life lessons about who to trust and when to trust them, that’s going to be the net positive.”
Anne’s comments come as the upcoming 2019 Oscars ceremony, which is due to take place next month, is still searching for a host, after Kevin Hart stepped down from the role when historic homophobic tweets he had made were resurfaced.
It seems the ceremony could even go ahead without a host for the first time in 30 years, as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are now said to be lining up a select group of A-listers to introduce the segments rather than one host.

Felicity Jones: Sets are sacred

OHMYGOSSIP — Felicity Jones thinks movie sets are “sacred”.
The ‘On The Basis Of Sex’ actress gets easily distracted so has developed a “mental process” in order to get into character and focus on her work so she can give the best performance possible.
She said: “I can’t help but be focused. I admire those characters that fly a bit too close to the sun. And I feel the set is a sacred place. When you walk on to it, I like to be in character as much as possible.
“I get distracted so easily that I’ll start chatting before a take, and then I’ll completely lose my thread.
“So I have developed a mental process where I like to be in that person’s headspace – quite quiet and focused. You need that in order to take risks.”
The 35-year-old actress loves the inclusivity of her job because she spent so many years feeling like an “outsider”.
She said: “I’m definitely interested in the stories that are put out there and having more say in them. I felt like a bit of an outsider growing up. I always had a sense of not being in the cool gang; not being on the inside.
“What I love about what I’m doing now, is that I’ve worked with people from all over the world. Hollywood is getting better as a place to harness talent, and getting the right person for the right job.”
When she isn’t working, Felicity likes nothing more than relaxing with a good book, no matter where she is.
She told Britain’s Marie Claire magazine: “‘I love reading. It’s my favourite activity in the world, and I always have a book in my bag. At the moment I’m enjoying ‘Swing Time’ by Zadie Smith. It’s excellent.”

Jennifer Lopez strives to evolve

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez “constantly” tries to “evolve”.
The 49-year-old singer-and-actress worries about getting “stuck” so is always pushing herself to do new things and transform her career.
She said: “I am constantly trying to evolve and to not get stuck.
“It happens to people – you look at them and think, ‘She got stuck or she let herself go.’ ”
The ‘Second Act’ actress insists things don’t have to decline as a person gets older because there’s always an opportunity to make changes and keep “growing” and it’s only people’s own perceptions that hold them back.
She told Britain’s Grazia magazine: “There’s this terrible idea that you get to a certain age and just plummet downwards. I don’t believe that at all.
“You can always reinvent. You can always make a change. You can always keep growing.
“I believe that you can keep getting better and better and better. The only thing stopping you is you.”
The ‘On the Floor’ hitmaker recently admitted she has a hard time saying no because she doesn’t want to miss out on anything, but as she’s gotten older, she’s learned how to be more selective over the work she takes on.
She said: “It’s hard for me to say no, and it always has been. I’ve always been this person who takes on a lot because I love so many things. I love acting. I love making movies, I also love making television. I love performing live … When opportunities come, it’s hard for me to say no. But what I think I’ve learned, and what I’m trying to do now at this point in my life is to say no a little bit more and hone it down to working smarter instead of working all the time. Which, it gets tiring.”

Saoirse Ronan treasures normal life

OHMYGOSSIP — Saoirse Ronan loves leading a “normal” life.
The ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ actress enjoys her career but is thankful to have supportive friends and family around her that can take her out of the “bubble” of Hollywood.
She told Britain’s Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “I love going to work, but it’s lovely to have a normal life, and your friends and your family and the people who are close to you; you can get so wrapped up and disappear into the work bubble.”
Saoirse has been nominated for a number of awards in her career but when she doesn’t win, she much prefers the quiet support she receives from her loved ones than insincere messages of condolence.
Recalling one particular ceremony, which she attended with her friend and ‘Brooklyn’ co-star Eileen O’Higgins, she said: “I think it was at the BAFTAs.
“I knew I wasn’t going to win or anything, but people do that thing when you lose, they come up to you and go, ‘Oh, you were robbed!’ And I’m like, ‘Come on, let’s just have a glass of wine.’
“But when I didn’t get it, Eileen literally just held my hand, gave it a squeeze and said, ‘Love you, pal’. And I said, ‘Love you too’. And that’s better.”
The 24-year-old star finds it frustrating that some people have dismissed her films as “women’s movies” because they have a female lead as she insists the stories are universal.
She said: “With ‘Lady Bird’,the amount of guys who would come up to me – and I had it with ‘Brooklyn’ as well – and be like, ‘I’m not usually into films like that, but ah… I really liked that, and I even cried a little bit because I loved it so much.’
“And I’m like, ‘What kind of films do you mean?’ Of course, they mean female-led movies. But the thing is, whether there’s a girl or a boy leading it, ‘Lady Bird’ is about someone preparing to leave home. That’s it. And the more specific you can make it to one person’s experience, the more universal it will be.”

James Middleton reveals secret depression battle

OHMYGOSSIP — James Middleton has revealed his secret battle with depression.
The 31-year-old entrepreneur called his illness a “cancer of the mind” and said he decided to speak openly about his mental health struggles after being inspired by his sister Duchess Catherine, her husband Prince William and Prince Harry, who are advocates for mental health.
In an article he wrote for the Daily Mail, James explained: “I feel compelled to talk about it openly because this is precisely what my brother-in-law Prince William, my sister Catherine and Prince Harry are advocating through their mental health charity Heads Together.
“They believe we can only tackle the stigma associated with mental illness if we have the courage to change the national conversation, to expel its negative associations. So it wouldn’t be honest to suppress my story. I want to speak out, and they are my motivation for doing so.
“I know I’m richly blessed and live a privileged life. But it did not make me immune to depression. It is tricky to describe the condition. It is not merely sadness. It is an illness, a cancer of the mind.”
Speaking about his illness, James revealed that it completely took over his life for a year, until he sought treatment over 12 months ago.
He wrote: “During the day I’d drag myself up and go to work, then just stare with glazed eyes at my computer screen, willing the hours to tick by so I could drive home again,” James wrote.
“Debilitating inertia gripped me. I couldn’t respond to the simplest message so I didn’t open my emails.
“I couldn’t communicate, even with those I loved best: my family and close friends.”
James – who has also been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) – went on to explain that although he never contemplated suicide, he “didn’t want to live in the state of mind” he was in either.
However, he contacted his doctor who put him in touch with a therapist and he feels that he now has his illness under control.
James also revealed that he asked his doctor to initially explain his condition to his family and he praised them for helping him “enormously”.

Tom Sizemore arrested

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Sizemore has been arrested for drug possession.
The 57-year-old actor was stopped by police in Burbank, California on January 5 because his car had expired registration tags and police officers found what they believed meth and heroin during a search of the vehicle, according to TMZ.
Police arrested Tom and a male passenger for misdemeanour possession and both posted bail before being released later that day.
Tom has had a number of brushes with the law in the past.
In 2016, he was arrested on domestic violence charges for allegedly attacking his girlfriend.
He was charged with intimate partner abuse, intimate partner battery and making terrorist threats.
A few weeks before that alleged incident, the actor accidentally mowed down a stuntman with a Cadillac Escalade while filming scenes for ‘Shooter’ in Santa Clara, Los Angeles.
Eight crew members tried to lift the heavy vehicle off the stuntman but were forced to call in a jack to free him.
The man, who had sustained a number of serious injuries, was later airlifted to hospital by helicopter.
The horrific incident was investigated by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, which deals with work-related injuries.

will.i.am’s topless goal

OHMYGOSSIP — will.i.am dreams of walking around topless.
The Black Eyed Peas star recently revealed he’s shed the pounds thanks to his vegan diet, but now he’s revealed he’s aiming to have a body of “stealth” by the time the ‘Where is The Love?’ group are playing stadiums, which he hopes will be as soon as next year.
Speaking to Tom & Daisy on KISS Breakfast about his goals for the year, he said: “2020 we (Black Eyed Peas) want to get back to stadium mode.
“Just hard work, hard work, hard work.
“Then my pectorals are going to be so fresh.
“I will have a six pack, pectorals on stealth mode.
“My whole dream is to like, not walk around with shirts on. Cause you ain’t ever seen that.”
The ‘Voice UK’ coach recently revealed he’d love to write his own vegan cookbook.
The ‘Feelin’ Myself’ producer wants to inspire other people to lose weight by ditching meat and dairy.
He said recently: “A book is nice. A book is effortless but the results help more people.”
will decided to embrace a plant-based diet and cut out animal products after being horrified to be given medication from his doctor, and claimed his new eating habits, as well as visiting a wellness retreat, left him not needing to consider the pills any more.
He said previously: “When you go to the doctor and he says, ‘You have high cholesterol and blood pressure and I’m going to provide you with pills’, you’re like, ‘Pills? I’m 42. Why do I need to be taking the pills that my uncle takes? He’s 60-plus.’…
“It took me 10 days to drop my cholesterol. I lost 8lb, my blood pressure came down. In 10 days, my skin cleared up and my breathing was right.”
He now thinks the concept of eating meat is “sick” and he doesn’t see the need to introduce it back to his diet.
He said: “I thought about what I was eating – I was gnawing on flesh, dead animal.
“And if you think about it, it’s kind of sick. Imagine you’re hungry – almost starving. You have a bushel of broccoli and then a chicken walks by.
“Are you going to rush the chicken, no utensils, and just eat it? Defeather it – eat the skin and cartilage, no seasoning and salt? No, you’re going to dive into that bushel of broccoli.
“Turns out gorillas are buff as f**k. They have big-ass muscles, they just eat leaves and s**t.
“Rhinos are as tough as gladiators and they aren’t gnawing on people.”

Claire Foy’s juvenile arthritis caused her anxiety

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire Foy’s anxiety struggle started when she was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis as a teenager.
The 34-year-old BAFTA nominee has revealed she grew anxious from a very young age because she had to use crutches to get around due to “extremely painful” inflammation of the joints – and it made her feel “stupid”.
In an interview WSJ. Magazine, she said: “Feeling stupid is not a nice thing. I wasn’t really good at anything. I was relatively good at home economics, at making cakes, and I was quite sporty, but I had juvenile arthritis from the ages of 12 to 15, so I was on crutches.
“It was extremely painful… Anxiety was part of my life at that age, but I didn’t realize that was what it was until my mid-20s.”
The ‘First Man’ star has turned to the meditation app Calm to help her manage her “overthinking”.
She said: “It’s not as bad as it was, but that’s through a lot of work, doing things that I never thought I would do.
“I know that I need to catch myself early in a process of overthinking.”
Claire also opened up about the gruelling filming schedule for Netflix period drama ‘The Crown’ – in which she portrayed Queen Elizabeth II – and how the cast were often asked to stay on longer than planned.
However, being back home for her three-year-old daughter Ivy’s bedtime was “far more important” to her.
The actress – who has her little girl with estranged husband Stephen Campbell Moore – said: “The first AD (assistant director) would ask me if we could go an hour over.
“So then I am just like, ‘What does everyone want to do? Do we want the overtime or do we all want to go home because we have been working eight days straight?’
“Time is f**king precious, and making a TV programme is really important, but getting back in time for my daughter’s bedtime is far more important to me.”
The ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ star previously admitted her anxiety has worsened since becoming an actress and finding fame.
She said: “When you have anxiety, you have anxiety about – I don’t know – crossing the road.
“The thing about it is, it’s not related to anything that would seem logical.
“It’s purely about that feeling in the pit of your stomach, and the feeling that you can’t, because you’re ‘this’ or you’re ‘that’.
“It’s my mind working at a thousand beats a second, and running away with a thought.”
Claire suffered a “breakdown” in her early 20s when she couldn’t cope with her own mental health.
She said: “When I was 23, I had a breakdown. I didn’t sleep or eat for
a month. It was awful. My life had changed. I felt overwhelmed.
“I was on stage at the time and working, and I’d just got a really big job (the lead in the BBC’s ‘Little Dorrit’). I just couldn’t cope.”

Lady Gaga vows to remove R. Kelly duet from streaming services

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga has vowed to remove her R. Kelly duet ‘Do What U Want’ from “all streaming services” following the allegations of sexual misconduct made against the R&B star.
Gaga, 32, collaborated with the ‘Ignition’ singer on the track back in 2013, and it was included on her third studio album ‘Artpop’, but following the accusations of sexual assault made by a host of women against Kelly in new Lifetime documentary series ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ the pop superstar has made the decision to dissociate herself from the track and apologise for working with him.
Addressing to her 77.6 million followers on Twitter, the singer wrote: “I stand behind these women 1000%, believe them, know they are suffering and in pain, and feel strongly that their voices should be heard and taken seriously.
“What I am hearing about the allegations against R Kelly is absolutely horrifying and indefensible. As a victim of sexual assault myself, I made both the song and the video at a dark time in my life. My intention was to create something extremely defiant and provocative because I was angry and still hadn’t processed the trauma that had occurred in my own life. The song is called Do What U Want (With My Body), I think it’s clear how explicitly twisted my thinking was at the time.
“If I could go back and have a talk with my younger self I’d tell her to go through the therapy I have since then, so that I could understand the confused post-traumatic state that I was in – or if therapy was not available to me or anyone in my situation – to seek help, and speak as openly and honestly as possible about what we’ve been through.
“I can’t go back, but I can go forward and continue to support women, men, and people of all sexual identities, and of all races, who are victims of sexual assault. I have demonstrated my stance on this issue and others many times throughout my career. I share this not to make excuses for myself, but to explain. Til it happens to you, you don’t know how it feels. But I do know how I feel now. I intend to remove this song off of iTunes and other streaming platforms and will not be working with him again.
“I’m sorry, both for my poor judgment when I was young, and for not speaking out sooner”.
The ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ series has prompted the #MuteRKelly campaign on social media in a bid to get the musician’s concerts axed and his music silenced on the airwaves and on streaming services.
Kelly, 52, has denied all the allegations made against him and has threatened legal action against his accusers and the makers of the series.

Gillian Anderson ‘tongue-tied’ talking about sex

OHMYGOSSIP — Gillian Anderson gets “tongue-tied” talking about sex.
The star of new Netflix comedy drama ‘Sex Education’ admitted despite the show’s racy subject matter, she doesn’t have the same confidence as her character.
She told RadioTimes.com: “It’s weird because I think a lot of parents think they’d be able to handle the birds and the bees conversation and that they will be able to normalise it and make it cool in some way, but it’s hard.
“When you’re actually face to face with it, it’s really easy to either skirt it entirely or become tongue-tied.”
The 50-year-old star – who plays sex therapist Jean Thompson in the show, which debuts on the streaming platform tomorrow (11.01.19) – added she chose her moment when it came to having “the talk” with her eldest child.
She added: “I haven’t really had the talk with my two young boys [aged 10 and 12] yet.
“I do remember having a talk with my daughter [24] but it was more of a long drive discussing all the horror things that could happen if she didn’t use protection. I strategically had that conversation in the car!”
Meanwhile, Gillian recently revealed the show’s frank nature has already made an impact by giving information to people who may not have access to it already.
She explained: “When we were doing international press, there were three different Polish journalists who basically told us that there is no sex education in Poland, and so therefore this show and our work was their sex education, and that it was our responsibility to educate.”

Verne Troyer died with minimal possessions

OHMYGOSSIP — Verne Troyer died with only a car, memorabilia and $2,000 worth of personal effects, according to court documents.
It has been revealed that the deceased actor – who was best known for playing Mini-Me in the Austin Powers series and died from alcohol poisoning in April last year aged 49 – passed away with hardly any possessions to his name.
According to legal papers obtained by The Blast, the final total for Troyer’s estate was valued at $139,283,16.
A probate referee – which was brought in to appraise the star’s separate property – only identified his Audi car, signed memorabilia and remaining personal effects.
The document listed a 2015 Audi S4 with 3,490 miles on it, worth $38,000, autographed memorabilia worth $21,000 and furniture furnishings and personal effects worth $2,000.
At the time of his death, the actor – who measured at only 2ft tall – owned the state of California $22,224.70 in back taxes from the years 2004 and 2005.
Verne’s death – which was ruled as a suicide following an autopsy – was first announced on his Facebook account.
At the time, the cause of his passing wasn’t known, but the statement hinted at some of his personal problems.
The statement read: “It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today. Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible. Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked towards spreading that message everyday …
“… Verne was also a fighter when it came to his own battles. Over the years he’s struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought some more, but unfortunately this time was too much.”

Julia Roberts tired to play matchmaker with Connie Britton

OHMYGOSSIP — Julia Roberts played matchmaker with Connie Britton – but it didn’t work out.
The Golden Globe-nominated actresses – who both missed out on the Best Actress in a Drama TV series award for their roles in ‘Homecoming’ and ‘Dirty John’ at the weekend – have become close friends and Connie, 51, has revealed the ‘Money Monster’ star recently setup her up with a man, and even though the date didn’t blossom into a relationship this time, she is grateful for “mama” trying to find her a love interest
Appearing on Busy Phillips’ ‘Busy Tonight’ show, she said: “I’ve gotten to be friends with Julia Roberts…she tried to set me up with somebody … it hasn’t worked out yet. But at least mama tried, you know what I’m saying?”
Connie – who was married to investment banker John Britton between 1991 and 1995 – also revealed that the ‘Notting Hill’ actress, also 51, “touched” her face and shouted “I love you” when they first met.
The ‘Friday Night Lights’ star also quipped that she is more of a fan-girl than a “functional” friend of the ‘Pretty Woman’ star.
She recalled: “She came up and she was like, ‘I love you,’ and I was like, I’m never washing my face again.
“Can you tell? It’s not really a functional relationship. Like it’s not really, it’s not really a healthy friendship, it’s more like I idolise her and she’s nice to me.”

Gina Rodriguez recalls ‘horrendous’ first panic attack

OHMYGOSSIP — Gina Rodriguez thought she was “going to die” the first time she suffered a panic attack.
The 34-year-old actress has revealed she experienced her first major anxiety episode after she became famous for her role as Jane Villanueva in The CW comedy-drama series, ‘Jane the Virgin’.
The Chiacgo-born star was eating out at a sushi place, when she started to get paranoid that people were looking at her.
She told the February issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine: “The anxiety stated coming, like, two years into ‘Jane’.
“[I] had my first panic attack at a sushi restaurant.
“All of a sudden, I thought I was going to die, and people are taking pictures. It was horrendous.”
Though Gina struggled with the intense spotlight at first, she has come to accept the downsides that comes with being famous.
She explained: “There are a lot things in the manual of living out your dreams that you don’t know about.
“Like you don’t have any more friends.
“You never go out to eat. You never see your family, your boyfriend, girlfriend, or whatever you have.
“It’s interesting. As a performer, you have to quite literally bury your life.
“Every day on-set I’m like, How the hell did I get this lucky?
“To live out your dreams is a really surreal experience.”
The ‘Deepwater Horizon’ star also opened up about her battle with low self-esteem and how she has learned to love her body.
She admitted: “I felt very alone growing up.
“I didn’t feel represented. I didn’t feel a part of the conversation.
“And if you see yourself projected, you believe you are worthy, valuable.”
Gina is no longer fearful of not looking her best and is proud to be able to represent her fellow Latina women – who she feels are underrepresented in Hollywood.
She said: “I let go of the anxiety and the fear of not looking beautiful. Because it’s not about the picture. It’s about the fact that I stand on this cover with every Latina who wished she saw herself reflected.
“Because it’s not my face – it’s the 55-million-plus girls who are like, ‘Holy s***! We belong.'”

Kim Kardashian West still has tracksuit she first met Kanye in

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West still has the Juicy Couture sweatsuit and Louis Vuitton bag she wore when she first met Kanye West.
The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star responded to a fan on Twitter who shared a picture of her wearing the Barbie pink Velour tracksuit and rainbow print handbag, which she was rocking on the night she was “on her way” to the MTV Video Music Awards to see her now-husband perform in 2007.
The 38-year-old reality star – who is expecting her fourth child with the ‘All Day’ rapper – also revealed that she met the Yeezy CEO’s late mother Donda that same evening, two months before she tragically passed away at the age of 58.
When a fan pointed out her Paris Hilton-inspired look on Twitter, she wrote: “Fun Fact- in this pic I was on my way to meet Kanye for his Good Life performance for the MTV Awards. I didn’t really know him but his people called my people lol & I was a girl in the audience at the live performance in Vegas. I met his mom Donda this same night (sic)”
She then added: “P.S. I still have this sweatsuit and this bag.”
The KKW Beauty businesswoman – who already has North West, five, Saint, three, and 11-month-old Chicago with Kanye – previously admitted that her fashion sense changed after she started dating the ‘Gold Digger’ hitmaker, and that she is “mortified’ whenever she sees pictures of her old outfits.
She said: “I really think that my relationship with my husband Kanye West really changed everything.
“I mean, back in the day I thought I had the best style. I look back at outfits and I’m, like, mortified.”
Kim didn’t start seeing Kanye romantically until 2012, when her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries came to an end.
The couple tied the knot in 2014 at a lavish ceremony in Italy.

Catherine Tate says Mathew Horne left her play in the lurch

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine Tate says Mathew Horne has left the ‘The Catherine Tate Show Live’ “in the lurch” and moved on to another play.
The 50-year-old star – who is currently starring ‘The Catherine Tate Show Live’ at the Wyndham’s Theatre, London – informed audiences on Tuesday (08.01.19) that the 40-year-old actor would no longer be in the production as he had moved on.
She joked: “He’s got a proper job in a play. Broke his contract, leaving me in the lurch, even though I’ve given him 15 years of steady work. What a liberty!”
Meanwhile, the ‘Gavin and Stacey’ star recently had a brush with death when he was hit by a train on a booze-fuelled night out over the Christmas period.
He was clipped on a pedestrian crossing and thrown backwards in Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire, while walking back to his parents’ house but luckily did not require hospital treatment.
A duty manager at The Nelson pub where the actor had been drinking said at the time: “It was a really, really unfortunate accident and it could have been a lot worse. We are all glad that it wasn’t. He was obviously very shaken up but he’s all right now. He’s got a bit of a scratch on him but no underlying issue there whatsoever.
“Mathew is a regular customer of ours. I can say that everybody was quite spirited that night and it’s a genuine mishap on his part.
“We know Mathew well. We were just making sure that he was OK, as we would with any customer. Mathew wasn’t taken to hospital. The police had to be called just because of the nature of the incident. But they were just glad that he wasn’t harmed.”
Another source in the village added that the comedian had made a “miraculous escape” from the incident.
