Coronation Street’s Daniel Brocklebank faces same-sex smooch ‘backlash’

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Brocklebank claims a ‘Coronation Street’-watching granddad who criticised him for his same-sex soap smooches, because the guy’s granddaughter questioned what was happening, may have affected his relative’s “psyche”.
The 39-year-old actor has faced a “backlash” after his alter-ego Billy Mayhew recently got up close and personal with Weatherfield newcomer Paul Foreman – played by Peter Ash – and one man was so “disgusted” about the soap snogging he sent Daniel a message airing his frustrations.
But the actor insists seeing such a scene was the granddad’s “opportunity” to educate his daughter about relationships.
The cobbles star said: “He was watching with his granddaughter and was disgusted that she’d asked him questions.
“But that was his opportunity to explain to his granddaughter that relationships come in all forms.
“What if she grows up to be gay? He’s affected her psyche by not explaining to her that some men have relationships with men and some women have relationships with women.”
Peter admits he felt “a little nervous” about the same-sex smooch because he had never kissed a man before, but he was pleased Dan made him feel “very welcome”.
Speaking in a joint interview with the Daily Star newspaper, he added: “Before doing this job I’d never kissed a guy. I spoke to Dan about it and since day one he’s made me feel very welcome.
“We had a little chat about it and, because Paul is the confident one, I knew it was all on me. Of course, I was a little nervous.”
In October, Daniel admitted he experiences homophobia on a weekly basis.
He said: “Sadly, I still experience homophobia every week, often via social media. The other week, a woman was horrified they’d brought a bisexual character into the show and tweeted saying it was bad enough ‘Corrie’ kept bringing in gay characters, but to ‘add insult to injury we’ve got a bi’.
“I replied, ‘Get used to your injury being insulted,’ because we’re not going anywhere.
“We’ve come so far and that’s wonderful, but there’s still a long way to go. As long as you’re a nice, decent person, what does it matter?”

BBC set to try new ‘Bake Off replacement’ show

OHMYGOSSIP — The BBC is making new baking show.
The corporation have been searching for a replacement for ‘The Great British Bake Off’ since it left the network in 2016, moving to Channel 4, and the new series, ‘Flour Power’, will see a panel of professional bakers visiting workplaces across the UK to judge employees’ baking skills.
A TV insider told The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: “Ever since ‘The Great British Bake Off’ appeared on our screens, offices across the nation have been rife with bake-offs among their staff in fierce competition.
“The Beeb is keen to tap into this phenomenon in a bid to capture some of the magic of ‘Bake Off’.
“It is convinced this tweaked format might do the trick.”
The BBC has previously launched Nadiya Hussain and Zoe Ball’s ‘The Big Family Cooking Showdown’ in 2017 and Mary Berry and Claudia Winkleman’s ‘Britain’s Best Home Cook’ in 2018.
In the upcoming ‘Flour Power’, four members of staff go up against each other in each episode, and the winner will be crowned “King or Queen Baker Of The Office”.
‘Flour Power’ is expected to air later this year, with hosts still to be confirmed.
Russell Brand recently stunned ‘The Great British Bake Off’ judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood by creating a biscuit shaped like a vagina.
The 43-year-old star competed with John Lithgow, Hannah Cockroft and Jon Richardson, among others, on this year’s ‘The Great Celebrity Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off’ – which aired in early March – and knew instantly he wanted to create a biscuit in the shape of female genitalia when groups were instructed to bake “their finest performance”.
Russell previously reasoned: “The female plays an integral role in the process of childbirth.
“That’s why it was a good performance because of my acceptance in a secondary role.”

Jenny Powell ate bull testicles on Celebs on the Ranch

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenny Powell ate bull testicles on ‘Celebs on the Ranch’.
The 50-year-old TV presenter has revealed how she bravely tried the unusual delicacy on the 5Star reality show, and she was surprised by their “chewy” taste.
Jenny told The Daily Star newspaper: “I watched them castrate the bull and snap the balls off before cooking them on the fire.
“Straightaway I said, ‘I’ll have a go’ and I ate them. They were chewy. I didn’t have to do it, I did it voluntarily. I wanted to really go for it. I wanted to take every opportunity.”
Her co-star Louise Spencer jokingly added: “Jenny couldn’t wait to get one in her mouth.”
Jenny co-hosted game show ‘The Wheel of Fortune’ from 1995 to 2000, and she is “working on” reprising the programme.
She added to the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “I’ve had talks about bringing ‘Wheel of Fortune’ back.
“I have actually enquired about who owns the right to the show. I’m working on it.
“I think it would be great to bring it back. It’s a classic format and everything is going really retro now.”
Jenny co-hosted the show alongside Bradley Walsh and then John Leslie, and her main role was to turn letters around on a huge board – but she wants some “role reversal” in a modern version of the programme.
She said: “There needs to be a bit of role reversal this time. When I did it I was just the bird in high heels who turned letters around.
“But in this day and age it’s different. You can’t imagine a woman being told, ‘Look, love … you are just going to stand at the side and turn letters’. That just wouldn’t happen now. So some role reversal is needed.”

Mark Hamill to voice Chucky in Child’s Play reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Hamill will voice Chucky in the upcoming ‘Child’s Play’ reboot.
The 67-year-old star will provide the voice of the iconic horror character Chucky in the Orion Pictures revival of franchise, also starring Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, Tim Matheson and David Lewis.
Announcing the news at WonderCon, Mark said: “If you’re wondering whose going to play Chucky in the new Child’s Play, you’re looking at him.”
Producer David Katzenberg went on to hail the ‘Star Wars’ actor as “a gifted and celebrated vocal performer” and insisted the ‘Kingsman: Secret Service’ actor has shown “incredible energy and commitment” towards the project.
Katzenberg said: “We feel incredibly lucky to have an icon creating a new take on an iconic character, Mark is a gifted actor and celebrated vocal performer, and he’s approached this challenge with incredible energy and commitment.”
The forthcoming film will use the same plot as the original 1988 film – in which Chucky was voiced by Brad Dourif – and star Aubrey, 34, as Karen Barclay a mother who unwittingly gives her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a toy doll that hides the soul of a serial killer.
In the original film, Andy’s mother gives him a talking Buddy doll, however, in the remake Buddy is an “Artificial Intelligence human companion” manufactured by the Kaslan Corp, the world’s leading developer of interactive tech products for home and lifestyle.
Neither Dourif – who voiced the character in all four of the series’ theatrically released sequels – nor creator Don Mancini will be directly involved in the new reboot which will be helmed by Lars Klevberg and penned by Tyler Burton Smith.
‘Child’s Play’ is set to be released in the US on June 21.

Natalie Portman: The #MeToo movement has been ‘an incredible learning process’

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie Portman says the #MeToo movement has been “an incredible learning process”.
The ‘Black Swan’ star says she has built a lot of new friendships and “support systems” in the wake of the movement that swept Hollywood over the last year or so and encourages people to speak out about any sexual misconduct they’ve experienced.
She said: “It’s been really an incredible learning process, and a lot of new friendships and support systems have formed, and a network that we had never had. It was really surprising and amazing to me. I think I was also surprised by how much I had accepted that was not okay, because of course it was a surprise to realise how many women had been affected by this, by many different perpetrators, and to many different extents, and how with all of it there is a spectrum of things that are not okay that we put up with on a regular basis. I think one thing that was so interesting … [was] I would hear people say, ‘Well, that’s not really harassment, that’s like a bad date, or we’ve all had that.’ Because we’ve all had that doesn’t mean it’s okay, it means it’s ubiquitous … that was really a revelation to me: that it’s not just a bad date or a bad boyfriend, that it is abusive and sexist, and we’ve been living in it, and not only that, but also the [iniquity of] hiring practices and pay.”
And Natalie feels blessed to be able to “live out her childhood dreams” through her career.
She added to the April issue of Australia’s Vogue magazine: “I feel like I’m getting to live out my childhood dreams through my roles: ballerina, singer, astronaut … It’s going to be my criteria now for choosing movies that I’m going to be playing – next I’ll be like a mermaid and a fire woman!”

Emily Andre not ready to add to her family

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Andre isn’t ready to have another baby just yet.
The doctor is “really busy” focusing on her career at the moment but she is conscious that her husband Peter Andre doesn’t want to “changing nappies” at the age of 50.
Writing in her OK! column, she shared: “Pete recently said that we’d been chatting about another baby. I’d say never say never when it comes to a third child, but it’s 100 per cent not happening at the moment as now is not the right time. I’m really busy and I’m focusing on my career. Pete also said he doesn’t want to be changing nappies when he’s 50, but that still gives us a couple of years! In a couple of years, Theo will be going to school so maybe we will then.”
Meanwhile, Peter recently insisted he “can’t decide” whether to have another child but the pair are keen to make a decision on the size of their family within “the next year”.
Asked if he and Emily would have another child, marking their third together, Peter said: “It’s so funny because we’ve had this chat over and over again now. We can’t decide. In the next year we will know. We will know if we’re gonna go for it or not.”
Peter and Emily share Theodore, two, and Amelia, five, together, whilst the ‘Mysterious Girl’ hitmaker is also a father to Princess, 11, and Junior, 13, who he has with ex Katie Price.

Kim Kardashian West frantically trying to get nursery ready

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West is “frantically trying” to get the nursery ready for her new arrival.
The ‘Keeping Up The Kardashians’ star has been working on the room for her impending arrival, who she is set to welcome via a surrogate but has described it as the “best” kind of “madness”.
She said: “I’m frantically trying to get the room ready. It’s madness, but the best madness.”
Speaking about the “mood board” in their living room, she added to the New York Times newspaper: “It’s a collection of looks they like, or tweaks they want to make to Kim’s cosmetic, fragrance and accessory lines.”
And there could be many more frantic days to come as Kim previously revealed that her husband Kanye – with whom she already has North, five, Saint, three, and Chicago, 14 months, – wants “seven” children.
She said: “Kanye wants to have more, though. He’s been harassing me. He wants like seven. He’s like stuck in seven … [Seven kids is] crazy. I could never, especially in like the world we live in … I’ve been kinda hesitant about having more kinds because it literally keeps me up at night, thinking about how my kids will survive in a crazy world like this.”
Kim has also opened up about the impact being a mother has had on her relationship with Kanye.
She previously said: “I absolutely think you can [be both a mother and sexy]. I was somebody who gained 60 or 70 pounds in my pregnancies and felt so unlike myself and so unsexy. Literally, at the end, when you can’t even have sex, I thought, ‘I’m never going to have sex again in my life!’ I just felt so bad about myself in my soul. I didn’t lose weight that quickly. But I’d say eight months later, I had probably my best body ever. I felt like, ‘I did this. I lost all this weight on my own. I feel better than ever!’ I just put my body through that, and so it was empowering when I did a nude shoot. I definitely have two different personalities like that. But I think motherhood has actually made me more confident about being publicly sexy.”

Danielle Brown is pregnant

OHMYGOSSIP — Danielle Brown is pregnant.
The 38-year-old actress – who already has Mimi, 12, and nine-year-old Hendrix from a previous relationship – is expecting her first child with partner Ty Maynard and couldn’t be happier.
She said: “We’ve wanted this for a while but it took longer than we expected – six months of really trying – and we became impatient so we got a puppy!
“Then helpfully we found after we’d got the dog that I was expecting…
“Even though we were trying, I was still shocked. One morning I started to feel quite sick, so I did a test – well, I did about five – and that was it. I was pregnant!”
The former ‘Emmerdale’ actress – who is five months pregnant – admitted she took some time to tell anyone her happy news because she’s suffered two miscarriages in the past.
She told new! magazine: “We were thrilled but we didn’t tell a soul for the first three months.
“Not even my mum, sister, or the children.
“I’ve had two miscarriages in the past and both happened just before the three-month mark, so that was on my mind.
“We didn’t want to get carried away and be upset.
“I had the scan on Christmas Eve and they told me the baby was healthy, so we told my mum and the kids on Christmas Day.
“They were delighted, the kids especially.
“To be honest, we’ve kept it quiet since – for no reason, really, just because it’s been easier to.”
While Danielle’s thrilled to be expecting, her pregnancy has caused problems for her plans to join her sister Mel B on the Spice Girls tour.
She said: “My plan was to join them for the whole thing, but then I went and got myself pregnant!
“But I am going to go to as many dates as I can before the baby comes.”

Faye Brookes: Corrie’s Rana death was the hardest thing I’ve done

OHMYGOSSIP — Faye Brookes ran herself “into the ground emotionally” playing out Rana Habeeb’s death plot in ‘Coronation Street’.
The 31-year-old actress’ character Kate Connor was left devastated last week when her alter-ego’s fiancée Rana (Bhavna Limbachia) met her maker after the Underworld factory roof collapsed on top of her, and Faye says the storyline took its toll on her in real life.
She said: “Rana’s death was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to film and emotionally I ran myself into the ground with it.”
However, some supporters found out Rana was going to die minutes before she did pass away after Faye’s fiance Gareth Gates accidentally confirmed the news on Twitter before the moment had aired.
He said: “It was a complete accident. We were out having some drinks when it aired and I lost track of time and thought it had already played out on screen. I felt terrible.”
Faye added: “It was an innocent mistake and he felt really bad. I know fans were upset but he was proud of me and wanted to share that with his followers.
“Most viewers knew Rana was going to die so he didn’t really give away the ending. I wasn’t angry with him and nor were ITV.”
Ahead of their wedding, the ‘Corrie’ star has had a ‘G’ inked on her ribs in tribute to her future husband.
She added to OK! magazine: “It stands for Gareth. I’ve always wanted to have his initial somewhere on my body, it represents that we’re together forever.
“I decided to get it on my ribs as it’s the closest place to my heart. Gareth was with me when I got it done, he held my hand as it was extremely painful.”

Edgar Wright created Cornetto Trilogy to get free ice cream

OHMYGOSSIP — Edgar Wright created the ‘Cornetto Trilogy’ because he wanted free ice cream.
The ‘Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy’ are comprised of the three British comedy films, ‘Shaun of the Dead’, ‘Hot Fuzz’ and ‘The World’s End’ – all of which starred Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and were directed by Edgar who co-wrote the movies with Simon.
The Wall’s ice cream cone is referenced in all three movies and on the 15th anniversary of hilarious zombie romp ‘Shaun of the Dead’, the 44-year-old director admitted that the trilogy exists is because they were given free Cornettos at the film’s after-party and they wanted more.
However, their plot to land more complimentary Cornettos didn’t work.
Sharing photos of the cast at the 2004 premiere on his Twitter account, Edgar revealed: “It was 15 years since the London premiere of ‘Shaun Of The Dead’. It was such a great night, possibly my favourite after party too.
“At the after-party they gave out free Strawberry Cornettos (as featured in the movie) so me and Simon contrived to mention Cornettos in the next one as a way of getting more free ice cream next time around… (we didn’t)”
The filmmaker previously joked that the series was a play on Krzysztof Kieslowski’s ‘The Three Colours Trilogy’ and says it was a “silly joke that stuck”.
He said: “It’s a half-joke, It’s something that came up after ‘Hot Fuzz’ because we used Cornetto ice cream in both ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’ and some journalist pointed that out and said, ‘Are you going to make this a trilogy?’
“And I said, ‘Yes, it’s going to be like Krzysztof Kieslowski’s The Three Colours Trilogy.’ That was a silly joke that stuck.”

Winona Ryder was ‘obsessed’ with Heathers script

OHMYGOSSIP — Winona Ryder became “obsessed” with the ‘Heathers’ script when she landed a role in the cult classic movie.
According to the film’s producer Denise Di Novi, the now 47-year-old actress simply loved the plot for the 1989 dark high school comedy and insisted on playing the role of Veronica Sawyer in the picture despite her agent advising her against it.
In an interview with Variety marking the movie’s 30th anniversary, Di Novi said: “Winona Ryder is so smart, very brave and unusual. She was this amazing 15 year old, if you can believe it. Winona got obsessed with the script.”
The movie follows Veronica as she joins a high school clique of popular girls all named Heather (Kim Walker, Lisanne Falk and Shannen Doherty), however, she starts to question the bullying behaviour.
However, when bad boy student J.D. (Christian Slater) joins the school, Veronica becomes obsessed with him and he tricks her into killing the clique’s leader Heather Chandler (Kim Walker).
Veronica then learns that J.D. is out to kill everybody he doesn’t like and even plans to blow up the school.
The film’s screenwriter Daniel Waters believes the movie’s long-term appeal is that the story lulls viewers into a false sense of security and even the title sequence song ‘Que Sera Sera’ – which was re-recorded by Syd Straw as Doris Day wanted nothing to do with the movie due to its foul language and nudity – makes audiences believe they’re watching a film with a “nice message at the end”.
He said: “The whole thing about ‘Heathers’ was lulling you into thinking you’re watching a different movie. [The song] makes them think they’re watching a film about girls, a film about teenagers, rebels and bullies and it’s going to have a nice message at the end. Then you slap everybody in the face in the middle and mess with their minds.”
The film has inspired stage show ‘Heathers the Musical’ and after a successful run in London’s West End it will be returning later this year.

The Canadian rapper will spend seven nights at the 20,000-capacity arena as part of his ‘Assassination Vacation Tour’ and in a nod to the lyric from his hit single ‘God’s Plan’, the The O2 has had their sign changed at the entrance to the building.

The hip-hop superstar headed to the O2 Kentish Town Forum in north London, to see the 19-year-old artist who he listed as an inspiration for his latest LP ‘Scorpion’.

The 32-year-old star also crashed Fredo’s concert ahead of the opening night of the UK leg of his own tour in Manchester recently.
The Grammy-winner dropped by the O2 Ritz, which holds just 1,500 people, a day before his gig at nearby Manchester Arena, to join the London star for a rendition of the former’s song ‘Nonstop’ from his record-breaking LP ‘Scorpion’.

Danniella Westbrook’s hopes for ex-friend Kerry Katona

OHMYGOSSIP — Danniella Westbrook hopes Kerry Katona gets herself “sorted”.
The ‘EastEnders’ star has fumed at her former friend, branding her as “somebody who has so many troubles and issues” as she urged her to “get her s**t sorted” and sort out her problems.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “I’ve met the girl like once. Somebody who has so many troubles and issues … I wish her all the best. I hope she gets her s**t sorted, it’s a very bizarre situation. It’s weird. She has her own issues and problems and I think nitpicking like that … I just hope she gets herself better.”
Kerry previously confessed her feud with Danniella is “bizarre” after the actress recently slammed the ex-Atomic Kitten singer for “making money” out of her by speaking about their friendship on ‘Loose Women’. However, Kerry has insisted she doesn’t know why the troubled star was so upset, particularly because she didn’t say anything “untoward” and didn’t get paid for her interview.
She shared: “It all kicked off with Danniella Westbrook last week, didn’t it? It’s very bizarre and very shocking. Let me get things straight. I did ‘Loose Women’ and I got asked about Danniella, as we’ve both been on the show before with regards to our addictions.
“She’d been on ‘Jeremy Kyle’ to talk about her problems and then she went to rehab, so obviously when I was back on the show they asked me about her. I said nothing untoward – in fact, I wished her all the best. Then a week after that, her son Kai rang me and said I was making money off his mum. As if! I was actually on the show to talk about ‘Celebs Go Dating’ – for free.
“Because of that, I sent Danniella a text saying, ‘Listen, I wish you all the love and happiness in the world but I’m not having your son ringing me up to have a go at me.’ Now it’s all gone everywhere. I think it’s a bizarre situation.”

John Legend wants Luna to be a singer

OHMYGOSSIP — John Legend wants his daughter to be a famous singer.
The ‘All of Me’ hitmaker would love to see his two-year-old daughter Luna – who he shares with his wife Chrissy Teigen – follow in his footsteps and make it as a singer one day.
Speaking to E! News about a potential singing career for Luna, he said: “Who knows? I sing around her all the time. I hope it rubs off on her.”
Meanwhile, Chrissy – who also has 10-month-old son Miles with John – previously insisted he is a “pushover” parent.
She said: “He will say no and then if [Luna] asks one more time, it’s a yes. He’s a bit of a pushover with Luna. I think it’s because they look so much alike and he’s like, ‘Okay, you beautiful being. Anything you want.’ He needs to learn to say no because I’m the tough guy. It’s always a thing in any household, there’s always one. He’s also insanely patient. He’s amazing at diaper changing still. He gives them so much attention no matter what’s going on in his life or my life or work-wise. They never feel like they’re like second to work and I think he’s really great with that.”
And John would like another child.
He said: “I think so, we’d like to. We can do three … I think being a father helps me understand even more how fragile life can be sometimes and how much it’s imperative for us who have so many resources and so much power to try to make other kids’ lives better. Because we know we can afford for our kids to have proper health care, to have proper education, but there are so many kids in our country and around the world who don’t have that and I think this experience of fatherhood has made me double down on saying, we got to do what we can together to make this world better for our young people growing up.”

Louisa Lytton’s ‘overwhelming’ EastEnders filming

OHMYGOSSIP — Louisa Lytton felt “overwhelmed” filming her ‘EastEnders’ court room scenes.
The 30-year-old star is set for a big week on the BBC One soap when her alter-ego Ruby Allen heads to court to pursue her rape case, and the former ‘The Bill’ actress admits it was tough to shoot such scenes among so many strangers.
She said: “It was quite overwhelming. On the day I was in a room full of people I didn’t know. I guess it was the nature of the story.
“I was overwhelmed filming that day.”
Louisa returned to Albert Square last year after 12 years away from Walford, and despite appearing in numerous projects in between – such as starring in movie ‘American Pie Presents: The Book of Love’, Shakespearean plays ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, and a guest stint in medical drama ‘Casualty’ – she feels like she never left the London soap.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, she added: “Within two days I felt like I’d never left. I was like, ‘What have I been doing for 12 years?'”
Louisa recently admitted she has felt “a lot of pressure” to make the storyline look realistic, because she wants to “do it justice” for rape victims.
She said: “There was a lot of pressure on me and the show to do it justice for the survivors of rape.
“I’ve worked closely with Rape Crisis to ensure the way I act is realistic, so I knew we were safe in our portrayal of it.”

Jeff Daniels to star in new BBC Two drama The Looming Tower

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Daniels is to star in new BBC Two drama ‘The Looming Tower’.
The 64-year-old actor has signed up for the 10-part series – based on the novel by Lawrence Wright – which tells the story about the rising threat of Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda in the late 1990s.
The series follows members of the I-49 Squad in New York and Alec Station in Langley Virginia, and explores the counter-terrorism divisions of the FBI and CIA as they explore the world, fighting for ownership of information while trying to prevent attacks on the US.
Sue Deeks, the BBC’s head of programme acquisition, said: “Brilliantly weaving archive footage with tense and compelling drama, ‘The Looming Tower’ is a fascinating and illuminating deconstruction of the personalities and events that ultimately led to the horror of 9/11.”
Jeff plays John O’Neill, chief of the Squad who are convinced that their country has been targeted for an attack by the terrorist group.
John and his sidekick, Muslim-American FBI agent Ali Soufan (Tahar Rahim) face poor support from their counterparts within their CIA team, who are led by antagonistic Martin Schmidt (Peter Sarsgaard).
As the story unravels, Martin and Diane Marsh (Wrenn Schmidt) hide information from the FBI as they believe the CIA is the only government group equipped to take on terror threats from overseas.
Members of John’s team then travel to investigate the bombings of the US embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, then the U.S.S. Cole in Yemen, while following leads in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
The professional and personal worlds come to a head as Al-Qaeda operatives in the US launch their terrorist plans.
‘The Looming Tower’, which will air on BBC Two this spring, is executive produced by Dan Futterman, Alex Gibney, Lawrence, Craig Zisk, and Adam Rapp.
