Rihanna is suing her father for exploiting her name

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna is suing her father for allegedly exploiting her name without her permission.
The 30-year-old singer and actress – whose real name is Robyn Fenty – has filed a lawsuit against Ronald Fenty and a company called Fenty Entertainment for allegedly using the surname, which she uses on her range of Fenty Beauty products, to solicit business acting as agents of the singer.
In court documents obtained by The Blast, Rihanna accuses her father and another man named Moses Perkins of creating an entertainment company to act as her agents, although she says she has nothing to do with the company.
The documents add: “Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf.”
The ‘Work’ hitmaker claims her father booked a $15 million tour in Latin America and two concerts at Los Angeles’ Staples Center and the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for $400,000.
In both cases, Rihanna insists she has nothing to do with the bookings.
She also says that Ronald claimed he ran the business offers through Rihanna’s actual label, Roc Nation, but the singer argues no-one from the label was ever made aware of anything her father was doing.
The ‘Umbrella’ singer claims to have sent several cease and desist letters to her father, but after he failed to stop, she has now filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction against Ronald and his business partner, as well as unspecified damages.
This is not the first time Ronald has tried to use the Fenty name, as in 2018 he tried to trademark the name for a line of boutique hotels, but the paperwork was shot down by the US Patent & Trademark Office.

Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger ‘already planning’ wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger have reportedly already started planning their wedding.
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star and the author – who is the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver – got engaged over the weekend, and sources have claimed the couple are already thinking about possible wedding venues, with a location in California seemingly being the favourite.
A source said: “[They are] already starting to plan. They are thinking about Martha’s Vineyard which is a special place for Katherine and where she spent a lot of time growing up. Chris wants her to have her perfect day and whatever she wants. It will be a big wedding and very traditional.”
The insider also claims Maria Shriver will “be very involved with the planning”, and the couple will be having an engagement party and bridal shower soon.
Speaking to E! News, the source added: “They will have an engagement party and bridal shower for Katherine coming up. It’s a very special time for the family and everyone is completely thrilled. They can’t stop smiling and celebrating.”
Chris, 39, shared the happy news on social media with a picture of him and Katherine – whom he has been dating since June – hugging, with her engagement ring on display.
Alongside the snap, he wrote: “Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!”
Katherine later reposted the photo to her own Instagram, adding: “My sweet love. Wouldn’t want to live this life with anyone but you.”
For Chris, his relationship with Katherine is his first since he split from his ex-wife Anna Faris – with whom he has six-year-old son Jack – whom he was married to for eight years before they split in 2017 and finalised their divorce in November.
But despite their split, Anna and Chris have no bad blood between them, as the ‘Mom’ star – who is now dating Michael Barrett – commented on Chris’ post to send her well wishes to the couple.
She wrote: “I’m so happy for you both!! Congratulations!”

Ewan McGregor’s daughter protective of mom after split

OHMYGOSSIP — Ewan McGregor’s daughter Clara is incredibly protective of her “goddess of a” mother.
The 22-year-old model posted a holiday snap boasting about her amazing mom, where she appeared to criticise her father Ewan, who Eve Mavrakis filed for divorce from in January 2018 due to “irreconcilable differences”.
Clara posted a picture of Eve posing in a bikini on a sun lounger with the caption: “my mother, ladies & gentlemen. 50 is the new 30 apparently.”
And when one of Clara’s 37,000 followers commented, “Good to know you have the smoke show genes … keep her away from your boyfriends,” Clara quipped back: “Nah I keep her away from asshole men who leave my goddess of a mother :). (sic)”
The former couple – who have four children, Clara, Esther, 17 and two adopted daughters Jamyan, 17, and Anouk, seven – are reportedly still discussing custody of their youngest kids and although he’s not yet been ordered to pay anything because the proceedings are still on going, he had previously claimed he has forked out more than he needs to for child support.
According to court documents, obtained by The Blast, Ewan has claimed he’s been “voluntarily contributing to the living expenses” of Eve and their children since they separated last year.
However, although Eve acknowledges that he’s been voluntarily coughing up financial support, she doesn’t think he’s been giving her enough, given his earnings.
In the initial divorce papers, Ewan asked for joint custody of their kids but in Eve’s response to his petition, she has asked for sole custody with visitation for him.
The pair announced their split in October last year but the court documents show the date of their separation as May 28th 2017.

Paris Jackson checks herself into treatment facility

OHMYGOSSIP — Paris Jackson has checked herself into a treatment facility to work on her emotional health.
The 20-year-old actress is reportedly seeking support at a treatment facility “to aid in her wellness plan”.
A source told Entertainment Tonight: “She decided that she needed to take some time off to reboot, realign and prioritise her physical and emotional health. She checked herself into a treatment facility to aid in her wellness plan.”
Paris had previously opened up about her battle with depression and says it stemmed from hanging out with “a lot of older people doing a lot of crazy things”.
She explained: “I was doing a lot of things that 13-, 14-, 15-year-olds shouldn’t do. I tried to grow up too fast, and I wasn’t really that nice of a person. I was crazy. I was actually crazy. I was going through a lot of, like teen, angst. And I was also dealing with my depression and my anxiety without any help.”
Paris previously took to Instagram to plead with her critics to give her a break.
She said: “I guess this is for the people that don’t agree with who I am and don’t agree with my morals, and spend their time trying to hurt me. I like to think that I’m on a pretty good track, as someone that is literally still a teenager … I get it, y’all don’t like the tattoos, y’all don’t like profanity, y’all don’t like my free spirit, my outspokenness. I’m a young chick and I should be quiet, I get it. I am a teenager. I am doing the best I can, I’m working as hard as I possible can to make a living for myself and create my own life. I’m fighting for human rights, I’m fighting for animal rights, I’m fighting for the environment. Basically any liberalist movement that will create positive impact on this planet, I’m trying to get involved in (sic).”

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin and Hailey Bieber have sent out save the date cards.
The newly-married couple are reportedly planning to celebrate their nuptials with some close friends and family in the next couple of months.
However, they are keeping most of the information a secret as they want all the “exciting details” to be a surprise for their loved ones.
A source told Entertainment Tonight: “Justin and Hailey are so happy and inseparable. They are thrilled that they can finally share their love and commitment with family and friends. They want the music, entertainment and exciting details to be a big surprise for their guests …
“There was no location included in their text, because they want complete privacy. Everyone is in full preparation mode. Justin plans to use his personal DJ to spin on the big day. They truly are planning a beautiful celebration and a party to be remembered.”
Justin confirmed his marriage to Hailey in a social media post made to mark Thanksgiving in November.
He wrote: “Happy late thanksgiving to everyone. First thanksgiving as a married man, first time hosting thanksgiving. First time both sides of the family has come together. Relationships are hard and love isn’t always easy but thank you Jesus for showing me how! Every day is a learning process, trying to be more like him, patient, kind, selfless, boy I got a long way! But gods grace is sufficient (sic).”
And a source previously claimed Justin and Hailey “aren’t going to rush” their wedding ceremony.
The insider said: “They have a wedding planner and were hoping to make a January date work. They can’t wait to celebrate with family and friends and have a big party. But, January is here and they are still working out details and planning. [They] aren’t going to rush it and want to make sure that its everything they want it to be. They’ve tossed around different ideas for where to do it and they are still going back and forth. They’ve met with their pastor numerous times to discuss the religious ceremony and figure out exactly what they want.”

Anna Faris offers to officiate Chris Pratt’s wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Faris has offered to officiate Chris Pratt’s wedding to Katherine Schwarzenegger.
The 42-year-old actress was married to Chris – with whom she has six-year-old son Jack – for eight years before they split in 2017 but she is thrilled for her ex and offered her services as an ordained minister.
Speaking on her podcast ‘Anna Faris Is Unqualified’ she said: “Chris texted me this morning and he was like, you know, ‘I proposed to Katherine last night,’ I was like ‘Ah! That’s amazing.’ And I texted him back, ‘Just want to remind you, I’m an ordained minister.'”
The ‘House Bunny’ actress went on to explain that she’s “so happy” to be able to extend their family to include Katherine – the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver – and insisted she’s over the moon the couple “found each other”.
She added: “I so subscribe to the idea of expanding family and love with Jack, I’m just so happy. We’re all really happy.
“I knew that it was going to happen, I love her, and I love him, and I’m just so happy that they found each other.
“They’re both f***ing amazing people, the truth is there isn’t any bitterness.”
This isn’t the first time Anna has shown her support for the couple, and sent her well wishes to the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star after he revealed on social media that he had popped the question to his new partner.
Commenting on Chris’ Instagram post – which pictured himself and Katherine with her engagement ring on show – Anna wrote: “I’m so happy for you both!! Congratulations! (sic)”

Little Mix set to perform at 2019 BRITS

OHMYGOSSIP — Little Mix are performing at the BRIT Awards 2019.
The pop group have thrilled fans by announcing that they’ll be performing at this year’s award ceremony, held on February 20 at The O2 Arena in London.
On the official BRIT’s Twitter account, the band – which comprises of Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson – posted a video in which they read out just some of the names of fans who have tweeted them supportive messages.
In the post, Leigh-Anne, 27, asks: “Girls, have you seen this? … All these tweets to the BRITS, oh my god there’s loads … and loads on Instagram too.”
After namedropping tons of fans, Perrie says: “Guys do you think we should just tell them?”
After being urged by Jesy, the ‘Woman Like Me’ singers all announce: “We’re performing at the BRITS 2019.”
Leigh-Anne thanked fans for their support, adding: “Thank you so much for all your tweets and comments we love you guys.”
Jade goes on to confirm that their fans’ support has not gone unnoticed by the award show, she said: “Yes the BRITS see you posting every single day.”
Jesy ends the video by insisting the ‘Black Magic’ hitmakers “can’t wait” to sing at the ceremony.
The ‘Secret Love Song’ singers received a nomination for Best British Group, as well as a nod for British Artist Video Of The Year for their hit single with rapper Nicki Minaj – ‘Woman Like Me’.
In addition to Little Mix performing at the glitzy event, British Album of the Year nominees George Ezra and Jorja Smith have also been confirmed as performers at the bash.

Killers to release album in 2020?

OHMYGOSSIP — Brandon Flowers would love to release a new Killers album by the end of the year.
The 37-year-old singer and co recently unveiled their anti-Trump song ‘Land Of The Free’ about the US-Mexican border wall, gun violence and incarceration but says it might be a little wait for their LP, which he thinks is most likely to be out in early 2020.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Beats 1 when asked when fans could expect a new album, he said: “In a perfect world, I could see the end of the year having something, but I think it’s probably, it’s looking more likely that it would be early 2020.”
Brandon had previously revealed he felt compelled to pen the track after the Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut in 2012, and those that followed in his hometown of Las Vegas, Orlando and Parkland.
Speaking about the song, he explained: “I think it’s a very important time right now and enough was enough is basically where it comes from. It started in my mind, around when [the] Sandy Hook [shooting] happened and as a father how that affected me and then it just started stacking up. It was things like Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, things like what’s happening at [the Mexico border] wall. This stuff didn’t seem to be in harmony with the values that I believe my country was founded on.”
Brandon initially felt “inadequate” to write the song, but just had to get it of this chest.
He added: “I would start the song and then I would put it away and say ‘I’m not the guy to do this. I feel inadequate, someone is gonna write this song’ and then it just piled up with Las Vegas, Orlando, Parkland [shootings]. It just kept coming and I just thought , ‘I have to get this out’.”

Roxanne Pallett to get ‘normal job’ as TV offers dry up

OHMYGOSSIP — Roxanne Pallett may have to get a “normal job” now her TV offers have dried up.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ star caused outrage this year during her stint on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ when she claimed her housemate, Ryan Thomas, had attacked her, only to admit afterwards she “got it wrong”.
A source told OK! magazine: “Rox knows a TV comeback is not going to happen anytime soon, if ever. But eventually she’s going to need to work again and is now thinking about where that next cheque will come from. She would like to just get a normal job but she’s still too recognisable for that at the moment so she’s having to be a bit more careful with her spending.”
The star – who publicly admitted her allegations were “massively wrong” – has kept a low profile since the incident, even deleting her social media.
Roxanne also sent Ryan a letter apologising for her behaviour.
A source said in September: “Roxanne decided to write Ryan a letter of apology shortly after deciding to leave the house and having been interviewed by Jeremy Vine and Emma Willis. She gave the note to a member of show staff to pass on to Ryan once he left the house rather than attempting to give it to him directly. Understandably there was a lot of commotion when Ryan excited the house victorious and he hasn’t been able to receive the letter yet.
“He’s aware of its existence though and it’s expected that he’ll receive it next week to be able to read it. He’s decided not to mention its existence publicly as it’s unlikely to make much of a difference considering what he’s already been put through.”

Matt Healy thinks next album will sound more British

OHMYGOSSIP — Matty Healy has revealed that being in England has influenced the 1975’s next album.
The 29-year-old frontman says the indie band have started recording their upcoming album ‘Notes On A Conditional Form’ in London, and thinks it will be more British-sounding than their last project, ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’, which was partially recorded in Los Angeles.
Speaking to NME about the difference in style between the two records, Matty said: “It’s because I’m in England.”
The synth-pop group – made up of Matty, Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald and George Daniel – are including a “narrative” in their latest record and the ‘It’s Not Living If I’m Not With You’ singer previously confessed that his latest two projects are not comparable.
He said: “It’s really deconstructed. There’s some quippy lyrical bits that will make up a narrative. I don’t want to compare ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ and this too much, because they are two completely different times.”
The ‘Give Yourself A Try’ hitmaker went on to explain that they didn’t save any tracks from ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ to use in the new album.
He said: “It was like ‘We can’t limit our record in fear of not making another good record.'”
The group were recently announced as nominees for Best British Band at this year’s Brit Awards, as well as receiving a nod for British Album of the Year for ‘A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships’.
The band began touring the UK last week, which ends in Sheffield on January 25, before headlining Reading and Leeds Festival in August.

Connie Britton: Julia Roberts is the sweetest

OHMYGOSSIP — Connie Britton says Julia Roberts is the “sweetest” matchmaker.
The 51-year-old actress recently revealed her close pal and fellow actress Julia had set her up on a blind date, and has now praised the ‘Money Monster’ star for her kind actions.
She said: “It was about the sweetest thing ever! She was like, ‘I’ve been thinking about this for a year and I think I have somebody I want to set you up with,’ and she did.”
Although Connie says she and the mystery man haven’t had a chance to go out together yet, she has faith in Julia’s choices and hopes it will work out.
She added to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “We’re both very busy people, so we haven’t gotten together yet, but you never know!”
The ‘Dirty John’ star’s comments come after she revealed last week that Julia had set her up on the date, but claimed at the time that things hadn’t worked out between her and her date.
She said: “I’ve gotten to be friends with Julia Roberts … she tried to set me up with somebody … it hasn’t worked out yet. But at least mama tried, you know what I’m saying?”
Connie – who was married to investment banker John Britton between 1991 and 1995 – also revealed that the ‘Notting Hill’ actress, also 51, “touched” her face and shouted “I love you” when they first met.
The ‘Friday Night Lights’ star even quipped that she is more of a fan-girl than a “functional” friend of the ‘Pretty Woman’ star.
She recalled: “She came up and she was like, ‘I love you,’ and I was like, I’m never washing my face again.
“Can you tell? It’s not really a functional relationship. Like it’s not really, it’s not really a healthy friendship, it’s more like I idolise her and she’s nice to me.”

Celine Dion pulling R. Kelly collaboration from streaming services

OHMYGOSSIP — Celine Dion is reportedly pulling her R. Kelly collaboration ‘I’m Your Angel’ from streaming services, following the allegations of sexual misconduct made against the R&B star.
The 50-year-old singer recorded the track – which was written by R. Kelly – in 1998 for her holiday album ‘These are Special Times’, but after accusations of sexual assault were made by a host of women against Kelly in new Lifetime documentary series ‘Surviving R. Kelly’, Celine has decided to remove the song from streaming services.
According to TMZ, the song – who was nominated for a Grammy, and sold more than 1.5 million copies – is in the process of being pulled by Celine’s team, after the singer made the move to distance herself from Kelly.
Celine isn’t the only star to have removed her collaboration with Kelly from streaming services either, as Lady Gaga chose to take down 2013 track ‘Do What U Want’ last week.
Gaga also took to social media to apologise for working with Kelly in a lengthy note, which read: “I stand behind these women 1000%, believe them, know they are suffering and in pain, and feel strongly that their voices should be heard and taken seriously.
“What I am hearing about the allegations against R Kelly is absolutely horrifying and indefensible. As a victim of sexual assault myself, I made both the song and the video at a dark time in my life. My intention was to create something extremely defiant and provocative because I was angry and still hadn’t processed the trauma that had occurred in my own life. The song is called Do What U Want (With My Body), I think it’s clear how explicitly twisted my thinking was at the time.
“If I could go back and have a talk with my younger self I’d tell her to go through the therapy I have since then, so that I could understand the confused post-traumatic state that I was in – or if therapy was not available to me or anyone in my situation – to seek help, and speak as openly and honestly as possible about what we’ve been through.
“I can’t go back, but I can go forward and continue to support women, men, and people of all sexual identities, and of all races, who are victims of sexual assault. I have demonstrated my stance on this issue and others many times throughout my career. I share this not to make excuses for myself, but to explain. Til it happens to you, you don’t know how it feels. But I do know how I feel now. I intend to remove this song off of iTunes and other streaming platforms and will not be working with him again.
“I’m sorry, both for my poor judgment when I was young, and for not speaking out sooner”.

Adrian Edmondson catches pesky rat

OHMYGOSSIP — Adrian Edmondson has caught the rat that had been plaguing his and Jennifer Saunders’ home.
The 61-year-old comedic actor took to Twitter on Monday (14.01.19) to reveal he has managed to capture the creature in a humane trap, after revealing last week that he and his wife Jennifer – who have been married for 33 years – had set up a camera in their kitchen when they suspected their house was home had an unwanted guest.
Posting a picture of the rat in the cage, Adrian wrote: “‘I’m gonna fix that rat that’s what I’m gonna do’… Anybody want a rat? Likes hazelnut spread. Doesn’t playing on the slide. (sic)”
He then shared another snap of a loaf of bread with a large hole in the middle, as he believes the rodent was hidden inside the product, which is how it managed to get inside his house.
In a second tweet, he wrote: “My theory is that the rat came INSIDE a loaf of bread. Any forensic scientists who can tell me if this is an exit or an entrance wound? (sic)”
Adrian had originally tweeted about the creature on Thursday (10.01.19), when he shared video footage of the rat scurrying across the kitchen counter, and asked his followers what he could do to rid his and ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ creator Jennifer’s home of the rattus family member.
He tweeted: “To quote UB40: ‘Rat in mi kitchen what am I gonna do?’ It’s going everywhere except inside the lovely humane trap. I’ve tried cheese, bacon fat, and bread. (sic)”
Ade’s followers were quick to reply with one recommending he use a “dart and blowpipe” to kill the rat just like his alter ego Eddie Hitler used in comedy series ‘Bottom’ in the episode ”S Out’ when trying to catch a hedgehog he and friend Richie Richard – played by the late Rik Mayall – mistook for a Womble on Wimbledon Common.
However, one follower offered up a more useful solution, tweeting: “Serious answer: apparently rats love chocolate. I heard of a guy here who catches rats and says chocolate has the best success rate. I would probably end up in the rat trap myself.”

Megan Barton Hanson slams Wes Nelson’s Dancing on Ice partner

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Barton Hanson has accused her boyfriend Wes Nelson’s ‘Dancing On Ice’ partner Vanessa Bauer of trying to come between her and Wes.
The 24-year-old former ‘Love Island’ star has slammed professional ice skater Vanessa on social media, claiming she has “never reached out” to her or invited her to watch her boyfriend Wes train for the ITV celebrity ice skating competition.
Megan also accused Vanessa of announcing her split from her partner Louis Nathaniel just hours before Sunday’s (13.01.19) live show, in what Megan labelled as a “tactical break up” designed to stir romance rumours between Vanessa and 20-year-old Wes.
She wrote on Instagram: “@Vanessabauer_skates love that you decide to announce your breakup with your boyfriend on the night of your 1st performance with my boyfriend!
“You’ve never reached out to me once or invited me to watch you train, it pained you to introduce yourself to me last night, you didn’t even look me in the eye LOL.
“Hope the tactical breakup got you the headlines you wanted babe. @wesnelson (sic)”
Wes then took to his own Instagram to defend Megan, saying any rumours of a ‘Dancing on Ice’ curse were “laughable”.
He wrote: “Oh and give it a rest with this Dancing on Ice curse b******s as well it’s laughable.”
This isn’t the first time Megan and Wes have battled cheating speculation, but Megan previously insisted she trusts her partner completely, and doesn’t believe any of the rumours that circulate the pair.
Speaking about their romance in October, she said: “It’s really good, his PA run has come to an end now and he’s getting ready for ‘Dancing On Ice’ so it’s all really positive. I think if anything we’re going to have more time together because when he’s travelling to his PAs he’s halfway across England. I think if anything once he’s got his ‘Dancing On Ice’ schedule it’ll be better and if anything we’ll have more time together so it’ll be nice.
“Ultimately if we’re not happy then we’ll end it but we have a really good time so you can’t put that much pressure on it and think: ‘Oh we should do it for the public.'”

The 42-year-old actress was married to Chris – with whom she has six-year-old son Jack – for eight years before they split in 2017 and finalised their divorce in November, and it seems there’s no bad blood between the pair as she has sent her well wishes to the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star after he revealed he had popped the question to new partner Katherine.
Commenting on Chris’ Instagram post – which pictured himself and Katherine with her engagement ring on show – Anna wrote: “I’m so happy for you both!! Congratulations! (sic)”
Chris, 39, made the announcement on Sunday (13.01.19) night, with the adorable social media post.
The picture was captioned: “Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes!
“I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!”
The ‘Jurassic World’ actor and Katherine – the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver – have been together since June last year, and it is Chris’ first relationship since his split from Anna.
Meanwhile, the ‘Mom’ star – who is now romancing Michael Barrett – recently said she and Chris “work really hard” to be supportive of each other in the wake of their split for the sake of their son.
She said: “Chris and I work really hard ’cause we have Jack, that is sort of the long game idea and making sure Jack is really happy, which makes us really happy. We have sort of the luxury of circumstance.
“You know, we are both in other loving relationships … but it is … it’s like how do you not in general sink into a place of bitterness?
“I do want to reiterate though, that I f***ing acknowledge, we all do, everyone acknowledges, that there is bitterness and pain with all breakups and that hopefully makes us all human. But the long game is just the worst being the bigger person. It just is. It f***ing sucks until, then what happens though, is that everyone’s happy.”

Celine Dion learned ‘deeper’ singing from Aretha Franklin

OHMYGOSSIP — Celine Dion learned to sing from the “soul” thanks to the late Aretha Franklin.
The 50-year-old singer has praised the late ‘Respect’ hitmaker – who passed away in August last year – for teaching her to reach deeper within herself when singing, as she said music should come from “deeper than the heart”.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ at the ‘Aretha! A GRAMMY Celebration for the Queen of Soul’ concert in Los Angeles, Celine said: “I’ve had the privilege of singing at [VH1’s] ‘Divas’ with her and when I had one moment, I had one line I was not gonna mess on that. I had a moment with her that I will never forget and I will cherish this for the rest of my life … I remember taking a picture with her after meeting with her, singing her [songs] of course, and when you love to sing so much, it’s gotta be done with the soul.
“You sing with your heart but she has taught us that, when we believe so much, that it comes from deeper than the heart, it comes from the soul. So we did not invent those words, she gave those words. She put those words into our repertoire, into our lives and dreams … our performances.”
The ‘My Heart Will Go On’ hitmaker then said she felt “extremely fortunate” to be one of the performers at the concert on Saturday (12.01.19), and said it was touching to be able to relive Aretha’s greatest hits.
She added: “I feel extremely, extremely fortunate and honored that they called me to pay tribute to her because I think that we all took through the years a little part of her. We did not sing her tonight, we lived her.”
John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Common, and many more artists also took to the stage to honour the late star, who died at the age of 76 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
