Mark Labbett says Jenny Ryan and Anne Hegerty are the top Chasers

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenny Ryan and Anne Hegerty are the top two quizzers on ‘The Chase’.
The pair’s co-star, Mark Labbett, has compiled a spreadsheet tallying who is the lead pro quizzer on the ITV show, but he would only reveal that the ladies have answered the most questions correctly.
When asked by Phillip Schofield on ‘This Morning’ who the “lead chaser” was, he replied: “I’m sorry I’m not allowed to reveal her name.
“The ladies are one and two.”
Jenny insisted she works hard to be prepared for the show and always keeps on-the-ball with the latest news.
She said: “You’ve always got to be looking at the news and what’s changing in the world the new things on TV, film, pop music and politics and always with that mind of how likely is it to come up at work.”
The 37-year-old TV personality also opened up about how Anne approached her specifically to audition for the show after producers announced they were looking for a new female chaser.
She said: “Anne and I quiz on the same quiz league team in Bolton.
“It started out sort of my family team. We were recruited quite a few years ago and she did approach me one cold January in a Conservative club and said that the producers were looking to audition some new chasers and they would like someone female and like someone younger.
“While she liked being the only female Chaser if there had to be another one, she’d quite like it to be me.”

Paul Feig voices support for Leslie Jones amid Ghostbusters row

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Feig has come out in support of Leslie Jones’ comments about plans for another ‘Ghostbusters’ movie.
The 56-year-old director has offered his support to the comedy actress, who recently criticised plans to make a fourth move in the money-spinning franchise – and one that will ignore 2016’s female-led reboot.
Speaking in response to the abuse that Leslie has received online, Paul wrote on Twitter: “An absolute honest to God never ending supply of bull***t and hate from these trolls. Leslie spoke her truth and I support her. I am very open to Jason’s new version of GB but am also sad that our 2016 team may not get to bust again. We all are. We’re forever proud of our movie. (sic)”
The planned fourth ‘Ghostbusters’ film is set in the franchise’s original sphere and is to be directed by Jason Reitman, the son of ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘Ghostbusters 2’ director Ivan Reitman.
Leslie previously hit out at the new movie, saying it’s an insult to the stars of the remake, which featured the likes of Leslie, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon.
She wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “So insulting. Like f**k us. We dint count.
“It’s like something Trump would do. (Trump voice) ‘Gonna redo ghostbusteeeeers, better with men, will be huge. Those women ain’t ghostbusteeeeers’ ugh so annoying.
“Such a d**k move. And I don’t give f**k I’m saying something! (sic)”
The comedy star subsequently tried to clarify her comments.
She said: “The point is if they make this new one with all men and it does well which it will. It might feel that ‘boys are better’ it makes my heart drop.
“Maybe I could have use different words but I’m allowed to have my feelings just like them.”

Dumbo won’t be too sweet, says Colin Farrell

OHMYGOSSIP — Disney’s live-action remake of ‘Dumbo’ won’t be “too sweet”, according to Colin Farrell.
The 42-year-old actor is set to star in the Tim Burton-directed remake of the 1941 animated movie, and Colin – who plays the human lead Holt Farrier – has reassured fans that the upcoming film won’t be overly sentimental.
He shared: “Tim is suspicious of things getting too sweet.”
Colin also said that the acclaimed director was clearly in his element whilst working on the movie.
He told Empire: “When Tim comes in to give his noted, he is a 60-year-old. [But] watching the monitor, he is just a child. It was lovely to see that level of engagement.”
Meanwhile, Colin previously said that admitted that although he has his “ups and downs”, he has enjoyed a very “blessed life”.
The Hollywood star – who has kids Henry, nine, and James, 15 – explained: “I can’t reiterate enough, I have lived a very blessed life, such great fortune and two extraordinary kids and a great family, deep friendships and a job that I’m passionate about.
“Success is such a relative term, I don’t wake up thinking I’ve made it, and fame doesn’t give you happiness. Having said all that I’m a human being, I have ups and downs, at 42 the process of my life seems to be in learning the significance of your life as an individual and we’re here for such a short time, I mean, Jesus, the show is nearly over.
“Let’s push away from the harbour and get this show on the road, live in less and less fear and not care as much. It’s important to care what each other think, it’s a form of social moderation, but we don’t have to do things for the sole purpose of being liked. ”

M. Night Shyamalan: The film business has changed in my favour

OHMYGOSSIP — M. Night Shyamalan thinks the movie industry’s culture has changed in his “favour”.
The 48-year-old director – who recently helmed ‘Glass’, the sequel to his earlier movies ‘Unbreakable’ and ‘Split’ – is thrilled that Hollywood has decided to embrace the superhero genre, admitting the industry’s evolution chimes with his own “tastes”.
Asked what triggered his decision to make the third movie in the series, Shyamalan explained: “The fact that comic-book movies are prolific now helped in terms of getting the movie to be accepted by the system.
“But that wasn’t related to why I got interested in making this series again. I became interested again because the accepted tone of cinema has changed in my favour; in favour of my tastes.”
Shyamalan also explained how the cultural evolution has helped him as a filmmaker.
He observed that audiences’ reaction to particular themes and particular scenes have changed over time.
He told Den of Geek: “In ‘Unbreakable’, the weirdness and the darkness of where I wanted to go was much less comfortable for audiences.
“Take the dance sequence in ‘Split’, for example, where Hedwig [one of Crumb’s 24 personalities who manifests as a nine-year-old boy] is dancing for Casey.
“In 2000, that might have been too weird for an audience, like, ‘That’s stupid … Is this supposed to be funny?’ It would have been seen as a negative. But by the time ‘Split’ came out, people were laughing and scared. It’s disturbing.”

Melissa McCarthy wears Richard E. Grant’s fragrance daily

OHMYGOSSIP — Melissa McCarthy and her husband wear Richard E. Grant’s fragrance “everyday”.
The 48-year-old actress revealed that she and her spouse, ‘Enough Said’ actor Ben Falcone, like to spray on the same scent and are both big fans of pal Richard’s unisex perfume Jack – which features tones of “lime, marijuana and mandarin” – because the 61-year-old British thespian has the most “developed olfactory abilities of any human”.
In an interview with InStyle, she said: “Jack by Richard E. Grant, who has the most developed olfactory abilities of any human. He created this perfume that Ben and I wear every day. [The top notes are] lime, marijuana and mandarin. Come on!”
‘Withnail and I’ star Richard states on the Jack website that he wanted to create a “fragrance that is as lickably-more-ish, as it’s addictive” and used “earthy, citrus scents” to conjure the “hypnotic and unisexy perfume”.
The ‘Happytime Murders’ actress became friends with Richard during the filming of their 2018 movie ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’ and previously revealed that she and husband Ben marked their 13th wedding anniversary wedding in October 2018 by having dinner with the ‘Logan’ star and some other friends rather than do something romantic just for the two of them.
Melissa – who has two daughters, Vivian, 11, and Georgette, eight, with Ben – recalled: “We had a very romantic evening at our house with Richard E. Grant, we had friends over. He was like, ‘Wait, is this your anniversary?’ And I’m like ‘Yes, you’re the gift.’ ”

Gemma Collins taking social media break

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins has taken a break from social media so she can improve her skating skills.
The ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestant has vowed to leave her Instagram and Twitter accounts alone until Sunday (27.01.19) to concentrate on her skating, after she received the lowest score of the series on last Sunday’s (20.01.19) show.
She wrote on Instagram: “Guys after today I can’t be on social as I really need to up my skating skills I’m not leaving you but I really need to focus here’s a little something to keep you going xxx il be back up and running Sunday (sic)”
Gemma also shared a meme from one of her fan accounts which showed her telling ‘Dancing on Ice’ judge Jason Gardiner he was “boring” and then saying “next”.
In the clip, the former ‘TOWIE’ star’s slam appears after a segment of Ariana Grande’s ‘Thank U, Next’ music video.
Gemma embarked into a furious war of words with Jason on Sunday’s live show, alleging he had been “selling stories” about her, and he hit back by branding her a “brat”.
And now, her fellow ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestant James Jordan says Gemma is “insecure” after she threatened to quit the show when Holly Willoughby questioned her “professionalism”, after it was claimed last week that she had left a live show early.
In his Best magazine column, he wrote: “With regard to Gemma Collins’s ‘diva’ behaviour – threatening to quit after Holly Willoughby suggested she should be more ‘professional’ – it’s her way of coping with situations that upset her.
“‘The GC’ comes out – she becomes a caricature. Deep down, Gemma’s a sweet, insecure, sensitive girl.”
Dancing on Ice’s digital presenter Kem Cetinay “massively apologised” to Gemma last week after he claimed live on ‘This Morning’ that she had been late to rehearsals for a group performance because she was “having a nap”, and said she’d left Sunday’s live show early because she was “bored”.
This prompted a backlash from presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly about her “professionalism”.
Later in the week, her pro partner Matt Evers laughed off reports she had been caught napping.
He stated: “Gemma did not have a nap. Look, we all want to take a nap on Sundays, I wish I could have a nap on Sundays.
“We’re there all day Saturdays for rehearsals we’re there first thing on Sunday, we do camera blocking all morning, then we do a dress rehearsal all afternoon.”

The ex-‘Love Island’ hunk then revealed his girlfriend had been too ill to cheer him on.
He took to his Instagram Stories to share a picture of them together and explained the blonde’s absence, writing: “Shattered now. Can’t wait to get back to Megan. She’s been so unwell today, make sure you send her a kind message.”
On Saturday (19.01.19), Megan said she was suffering from a kidney infection and asked her 1.8million followers for some “pain relief tips”.
She wrote: “Any pain relief tips for a kidney/bladder infection…
“It’s finally date night and I’m going even if I’m curled into the shape of a pretzel. (sic)”
She added: “Does cranberry juice work?”
This came just a week after she launched a social media attack against Wes’ pro skating partner Vanessa Bauer.
Megan accused Vanessa of a “tactical break up” she announced her split from partner Louis Nathaniel just hours before a live ‘Dancing on Ice’ show, and claimed she hadn’t “reached out” to her yet.
She wrote: “@Vanessabauer_skates love that you decide to announce your breakup with your boyfriend on the night of your 1st performance with my boyfriend!
“You’ve never reached out to me once or invited me to watch you train, it pained you to introduce yourself to me last night, you didn’t even look me in the eye LOL.

Calum Best loses ‘cupcake of blood’ during cupping therapy

OHMYGOSSIP — Calum Best “lost a cupcake of blood” when he underwent wet cupping therapy last year.
The 37-year-old reality TV star shared gruesome photos of the unconventional treatment – which involves a 45-minute massage and several small incisions in the body to drain out toxic blood in suction-like cups – on his Instagram account and now the hunk has revealed he felt as though he benefited a lot from the cupping.
Speaking to Haert.co.uk, Calum said: “This [photo of the treatment] caused a debate on my social media, but cupping is an ancient treatment that removes stagnant blood that wasn’t flowing through you as it should do.
“It’s so hardcore but I left feeling 10 times lighter, refreshed and with a cleaner system. I went back two months later to do it again and 10 times less blood came out which he said showed that my circulatory system has cleaned.
“Stagnant, unhealthy blood comes in to the cup, and as there is no air it coagulates straight away. It’s like a stagnant goo. They put it in the top of your head and what looked like a cupcake of blood came out.”
The former ‘Celebrity Love Island’ contestant also confessed that he sought the treatment after suffering pain from a recurring shoulder problem.
He added: “I thought if they have been doing this for thousands of years, there must be something right about it.”
Calum Best was speaking to heart.co.uk. Tune in to Heart Breakfast with Jamie and Lucy, weekdays from 6am – 9am.

Netflix to adapt American Son starring Kerry Washington

OHMYGOSSIP — Kerry Washington’s Broadway play ‘American Son’ is coming to Netflix.
The streaming television service is planning on adapting Christopher Demos-Brown’s critically acclaimed stage production with the original director and cast with a few changes to fit the platform.
Cindy Holland, Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content, said in a statement: “‘American Son’ powerfully explores themes of family, love and identity; we are honoured to work with Kerry Washington, Kenny Leon [director and producer], Christopher Demos-Brown and the entire cast to bring this story from the Broadway stage to our members around the world.”
The moving story follows interracial parents Kerry, 41, and Steven Pasquale, 42, who reunite in a Florida police station to search for answers about their missing teenage son and the ‘Scandal’ star is “so happy” she can bring the story to a wider audience.
Announcing the news on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, she said: “It’s very exciting, I always get a little bit sad on Twitter when people say like, ‘I live far away,’ or ‘I can’t afford to come to New York and I really wanna see it,’ or ‘We wish you were running longer.’
“And so we are actually doing something really great, which is Netflix is adapting the play for the platform. We’re not just filming the play we’re adapting it to kind of be this movie play hybrid event.
“I’m so happy because so many people who have come to see the play say, ‘This is so great everybody should be having these conversations everyone should be seeing this play.’
“It brings us together as a country and makes us talk about things that we don’t know how to talk about in this country. So it feels exciting that more people than just the ones in New York, or the people who have flown in to see it, now everybody’s gonna get to have this conversation.”

Tony Audenshaw slept in his car during Surrey trips to avoid hotel costs

OHMYGOSSIP — Tony Audenshaw used to sleep in his car during trips to Surrey in the 1980s because he couldn’t afford a bed and breakfast stay.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actor had to get some shut-eye in his motor when he headed down south to work at Thorpe Park, a theme park based in the south east of England, because he didn’t want to stump up £70 per night for a bed and breakfast or a hotel.
Tony’s – whose latest soap storyline sees his alter-ego Bob Hope left homeless – said: “I used to work at Thorpe Park, the theme park, I use do the Thorpe Park Rangers and do all the voices.
“Up north things are much cheaper and I came down here in the 80s, and it was £70 for a B&B.
“So if I was down for five nights I would sleep in the car a couple of nights, because we didn’t have much money coming in.
“I’d never do it two nights on the trot because you couldn’t really function well.
“But yeah, it was Monday in a B&B, Tuesday in the car – the things you saw in those car parks, torches in the window.”
And Tony admits Bob’s plight, which saw him spend a night in the Woolpack cellar before nearly being caught, “can happen to anybody”.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’, he added: “It just shows you that this sort of thing can happen to anybody.
“Bob had an affair and he feels guilty for what he did, and because of that he doesn’t want to ask for help.
“He’s very proud and he’s got himself in this situation where he’s got no money, and because she’s such a happy go lucky character everybody thinks he’s OK and that he’s coping. And of course, he isn’t.”

OHMYGOSSIP — James McAvoy admires the “dedication” of Hollywood hunks like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Hugh Jackman and Chris Hemsworth after he was required to get into action man shape for ‘Glass’.
The 39-year-old actor hired personal trainer Magnus Lygdback – who oversaw Gal Gadot’s regime for the sequel ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ and Alicia Vikander’s exercises for ‘Tomb Raider – to help him achieve the required physique for his role as multiple-personality sufferer Kevin Wendell Crumb as he knew he would be spending much of M. Night Shyamalan’s movie with his shirt off.
After putting in so much hard work in the gym, McAvoy has nothing but respect for the leading men who have to be in that sort of condition for every movie they make.
In an interview with USA Today, he said: “I was like, ‘OK. I’m going to have my shirt off, aren’t I?’ And (Shyamalan) was like, ‘Yep.’
“Guys like The Rock and Hugh Jackman and Chris Hemsworth – the guys who keep themselves in that condition every day. That dedication is incredible.”
One of Kevin’s split personalities is the monstrous Beast and it was that dark, animal-like persona which required him to be in super shape.
He said: “I knew I had to get down in the gym and kind of back up his name. I had to give a little bit of aesthetic credibility to that fear that he’s supposed to inspire in people. You’re in every day working your socks off (acting), and you’re also in the gym at five in the morning and then pretty much working out on set whenever you are the Beast to get you all pumped up and get your veins popping and get the relevant muscles swollen for the shot.”
“He’s not like a supervillain in most movies who is like, ‘I look like I’ve got a six pack and I’m going to destroy the world!’ He is not a megalomaniacal, despotic human. He is alien. He is animal. He is other than human. Just standing still as the Beast was tiring in a way that no other character is.”

Coleen Nolan’s dogs are better companions than a man

OHMYGOSSIP — Coleen Nolan would rather share her home with her four dogs than a man.
The 53-year-old TV star is single again following the end of her 10-year marriage to her ex-husband Ray Fensome in 2018, and Coleen insists her four-legged friends are much easier to “live with” because they “don’t want anything from you”.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Tuesday (22.01.19) about her mutt mates, Coleen said: “To be honest, the thing is with dogs, they’re so happy when you come home, they’re much easier to feed, you know, they’re good at grooming themselves.
“So the thing with dogs is they give you unconditional love and they don’t want anything from you – except feeding and loving and they won’t sit there and say, ‘Oh you’re putting on a bit aren’t you!'”
And Coleen joked that the measures you can take to control naughty canines would also work well on guys.
She quipped: “And when they do get on your nerves you can either re-home them or take them to the vet and you can castrate them legally! They’ve no say in it!”
Although she is currently single, the ‘I’m In the Mood for Dancing’ hitmaker previously confessed she has been asked out by a host of younger guys via Instagram.
However, Coleen has so far spurned the chance to date one of the youthful hunks because she wouldn’t feel comfortable dating a guy who she’s old enough to have “given birth” to.
The-mother-of-three spilled: “I have had a couple of offers [on Instagram] but they’re all young and I think, ‘If I was Coleen Smith from up the road, you wouldn’t be messaging me,’ it’s because I’m on telly because there’s no way a man of your age is gonna look at me and go ‘Phwoar, she’s fit!’
“No, I couldn’t go for someone too young, well anything younger than my eldest son who is 30. I say if I could have given birth to them, I couldn’t go out with them … And also being with someone that young would make me feel older. They’d be like, ‘Do you want to go out this weekend?’ And I’d be like, ‘No, ‘Dancing On Ice’ is on.”

Joan Jett: The music industry is ‘nasty’

OHMYGOSSIP — Joan Jett has slammed the music industry as “nasty”.
The 60-year-old music legend – who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 – has said she found the music industry “extremely tough” to break into as a young woman in the 1970s, and likened people’s “nasty” attitude toward her to the mean comments spread on the Internet today.
When asked during an appearance on Australian TV show ‘The Project’ on Tuesday (22.01.19) what it was like trying to break into the male-dominated rock scene, she said: “Extremely tough. Just the level of … [people] not giving you a chance right away. Looking at you as a joke, as ‘it’s kinda cute’.
“And then people would get very nasty. It is like what the Internet is today, [but] people saying it to your face. You’re a this, you’re a that, you suck, your music’s bad. It could get really nasty.”
But when the ‘I Love Rock ‘n Roll’ hitmaker was recognised for her talents in 2015 at her induction ceremony, she was shocked to receive a standing ovation from Beatles members Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
She added: “I walked out there and the first thing I see is Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr stand up and start a standing ovation. I’m like, ‘What?!’ I remember being in my bedroom having just bought ‘Let It Be’, it’s just crazy and so surreal.”
This isn’t the first time Joan has slammed the music industry lately either, as earlier this month she said she believes rock and roll has a problem with female sexuality.
She said: “People having trouble with guys wearing makeup and stuff, girls can’t play rock ‘n’ roll. No, girls can master the guitar, they can play rock ‘n’ roll.
“What you’re saying it society doesn’t allow women to access their sexuality in relationship to music. They have to be a certain thing, and that’s it’. Once they do that, they’re w****s, they’re sl**s, they’re d*kes.”
