Gwyneth Paltrow sued by alleged ski crash victim

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow is being sued by a man who alleges she crashed into him whilst skiing in Utah three years ago.
A man named Terry Sanderson is reportedly taking legal action against the 46-year-old actress after he claims she caused a collision whilst on a skiing holiday in Deer Valley Resort, Utah, back in February 2016, which he alleges left him with severe injuries.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Sanderson alleges Gwyneth had lost control of her skis when she collided with him from behind, knocking him over and causing him to allegedly sustain a concussion, a brain injury and four broken ribs.
Sanderson accuses the ‘Iron Man’ actress of picking herself back up after the alleged incident and continuing on her way without checking if he was okay, and even claims a ski instructor stopped to accuse Sanderson of causing the crash and then skiing away without helping.
The man believes the instructor filed a false report casting blame on him in an attempt to protect Gwyneth.
According to his court documents, Sanderson says that on top of his injuries, he also suffered loss of enjoyment of life, emotional distress, disfigurement and medical expenses.
He is now seeking damages from the ‘Shallow Hal’ star in excess of $3.1 million, and is also taking legal action against Deer Valley Resort for the alleged actions of the instructor.
Gwyneth – who has daughter Apple, 14, and son Moses, 12, with her ex-husband Chris Martin – is yet to comment on the lawsuit, but her spokeswoman Heather Wilson said the case was “without merit”, and she expects the actress will be “vindicated”.
Emily Summers, spokeswoman for Deer Valley Resort, said she could not comment on pending legal matters.

Celine Dion slams critics of her weight

OHMYGOSSIP — Celine Dion has slammed critics of her weight, as she says she feels “sexier” than ever.
The 50-year-old singer has lost some weight in recent years and changed her clothing style to fit her new body, but has hit out at those who believe she’s too slim, because she says if they don’t like the way she looks, they should just “leave [her] alone”.
Speaking in an interview for ‘The Dan Wootton Interview’ podcast, she said: “I’m doing this for me. I want to feel strong, beautiful, feminine and sexy. If I like it, I don’t want to talk about it. Don’t bother. Don’t take a picture. If you like it, I’ll be there. If you don’t, leave me alone.”
Her comments come after she launched a gender neutral clothing line for children called Celinununu last year, which she created in order to give children a “chance to feel free to find their own individuality”.
She said: “It’s not that we’re hoping to shift gender norms with Celinununu. It’s more about offering a choice and giving children a chance to feel free to find their own individuality, their own true essence without being tied to stereotypes. I think that every child needs to have their own identity, to express themselves freely, and to not feel like they have to be like someone else.”
Celine – who has three sons, eight-year-old fraternal twins Nelson and Eddy and 17-year-old René, with her late husband René Angélil – even says her twins love the items in the range.
She added: “My oldest son is 17, so no it’s not for him. Eddy and Nelson just turned eight and even though they’re twins, they are very different from each other. Both wear the line and they both think it’s great.”

Gary Oldman’s mum ‘hung on’ to see Oscar win

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Oldman thinks his mother “was hanging on” for him to win an Oscar before she died.
The 60-year-old actor took the Best Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of Sir Winston Churchill in ‘Darkest Hour’ last year and his beloved mum Kathleen, who was known as Kay, passed away aged 98 just three months later.
And the ‘Harry Potter’ star admitted Kay had always been “optimistic” about his chances of winning the Hollywood honour – and once she’d seen him triumph, her health began to “fade very quickly”.
He told DailyMail TV: “Well she always said I would win one. At least she was optimistic.
“I wasn’t so optimistic but I think she was holding out. Yeah, I won the Oscar and her health started to fade very quickly so I think she was hanging on.”
The ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ actor – who was seven years old when his father Leonard walked out – had a very close bond with his mother, who moved from London to live with him and his wife Gisele Schmidt in Los Angeles during the last years of her life.
He said: “She brought me up [alone] from seven or eight so that’s a long time to actually know someone, it’s a long time to be with someone.
“She lived with me the last five years of her life, she was living in California the last 25 years so she had a good time…nearly 99 so it was a good innings as they say.”
Before her death, Kay spoke of how “proud” she was when her son won his Oscar for his portrayal of such a “great man”.
She said: “I used to tell Gary stories about living in London during World War II and listening to Churchill on the wireless.
“So to have him win for portraying this great man made me very proud.”
At the Academy Awards, Gary ended his speech by thanking his mother for her love and support and quipping: “Put the kettle on, I’m bringing Oscar home.”

John Legend’s learning to swim at 40

OHMYGOSSIP — John Legend is learning how to swim at the age of 40.
The ‘Ordinary People’ hitmaker surprised his 12.4 million Twitter followers when he revealed he was off for a swimming lesson on Tuesday (29.01.19), as he claimed he “can’t really swim”.
He wrote: “I can’t really swim. Today I took my first swim lesson since I was like 5. My dad learned in his 60’s so I feel like I’m ahead of schedule.”
A fan then joked that he was lying on his song ‘All of Me’ because of the line: “My head’s under water/But I’m breathing fine.”
They quipped: “So what happened when your head was under water? Did you breathe fine? Was it all a lie?!”
John – who has eight-month-old son Miles and two-year-old daughter Luna with his wife Chrissy Teigen – retweeted the post, and laughed: “All. Lies. Hahaha (sic).”
Some users were less than impressed, with one suggesting it’s not ideal that John doesn’t know how to swim properly because he many not be able to dive into his own pool if his children ever slipped in.
A follower then responded: “Not trying to disrespect U or your kids. Just wanted to put out there for general knowledge about pools, children, and safety precautions in response to someone commenting @ John slipping into pool (sic).”
John’s wife Chrissy, 33, hit back at people who commented on the couple’s parenting capabilities, but she later said she “misunderstood” and admitted she can get “defensive” when people criticise their brood’s safety.
John is not alone in not being able to swim.
Many celebrities have revealed over the years that they either can’t swim at all or have a fear of water, including Eva Mendes, Will Smith – who only learned in 2016 – and Zayn Malik revealed he had a fear of open water preventing him from hitting the pool.

Lupita Nyong’o helped out of ‘funk’ by Taylor Swift

OHMYGOSSIP — Lupita Nyong’o says Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ helped her through a “hard time professionally”.
The ‘Black Panther’ star was stuck in a “funk” over something in her work life, but as soon as her friend played her the song, they started dancing and it acted as a release for the 35-year-old actress.
Speaking after a screening of her new movie ‘Little Monsters’ at the Sundance Film Festival on Tuesday (29.01.19), she recalled: “I was going through a hard time professionally, and I was just in a funk.
“I was working abroad, and my best friend came to cheer me up. He played ‘Shake It Off’ on his phone, and we just had a dance party in my bedroom.”
Lupita’s school teacher character Miss Caroline sing alongs to the 2014 hit on the ukulele in the forthcoming zombie apocalypse movie, and the ‘Us’ star even managed to get Taylor, 29, to personally clear the track after the team behind comedy-horror were struggling to get the rights.
She added: “It meant a lot to me that this film had that [song].
“And so when I heard that they were having a hard time [getting the rights] I wrote Taylor Swift myself and asked her, and told her that story. And she said yes!”
Lupita is joined by Josh Gad, Charlie Whitley and Alexander England in the film.
The latter portrays washed-up musician Dave, who joins his nephew’s school trip after taking a shine to his teacher (Lupita), but he has to compete for her affections with famous TV personality Teddy McGiggle (Josh).
However, that is the least of their worries when a zombie outbreak threatens to put everyone’s lives in danger.

Bryce Dallas Howard honoured as Harvard University’s Woman of the Year

OHMYGOSSIP — Bryce Dallas Howard is to be honoured with Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding award.
The ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ star has been named the famous education establishment’s Theatricals 2019 Woman of the Year and will be handed her Pudding Pot on Thursday (31.01.19) following a parade in her honour.
They said in a statement: “The Pudding is excited to honour an accomplished actress who has given such a wide range of critically acclaimed performances, and is committed to expanding the role of women in every aspect of storytelling.”
Whilst Mariana Sanchez-Medina, the organisation’s co-producer, added: “In addition to being fans of Bryce’s work in TV and film, we admire her efforts to forge new pathways for female artists and creatives in Hollywood.”
Bryce follows in the footsteps of the likes of Meryl Streep, Halle Berry and last year’s honouree Mila Kunis.
Bryce has a strong work ethic and credits that to her mother, who was determined her family wouldn’t take their “privilege” for granted.
She said: “My mom grew up in poverty and was terrified that her privileged children were not going to be contributing members of society. I realise now, as a parent, that some of the things she did to follow through on teachable moments were a bit extreme. But other things, like we don’t have trust funds and were told, ‘You’re 14 – you need to get a job,’ I’m so grateful for. I started working at a restaurant when I was 14, and I’d be like, I just got yelled at by a customer. OK, I survived. Those moments made me feel like a capable person, and a lot of kids I knew growing up didn’t.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s magical wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding was a “once-in-a-lifetime magical experience”.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot in May 2018 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle and Meghan’s former ‘Suits’ co-star Gina Torres and the show’s executive producer Aaron Korsh says it was the best experience ever.
Aaron said: “Gina and I went to the wedding. It was a once-in-a-lifetime magical experience. The thing I’ll say about that was we all went as a family, 10 of us or something like that and our spouses and families that had all been working there for 10 years. And had we just gone to London for no reason other than to have a reunion, it would have been an amazing thing. The next day, we went to a worldwide event. It was unbelievable and I think it changed our lives in certain ways forever. But if it had never happened, we were a family on ‘Suits’ for 10 years and that’s the most important thing to me.”
Whilst speaking on a Television Critics Association panel to discuss ‘Suits’ spinoff ‘Pearson’, Gina added: “I had a great time. He said it beautifully. I would have added more, but that was perfect.”
It is an exciting year for Harry and Meghan as they are expecting their first child together, due in the Spring.
Kensington Palace said in a statement last October: “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019. Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”

Gemma Collins urges people to ‘cut her a bit of slack’ on Dancing On Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins thinks the public should “cut her a bit of slack” on ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The ‘Only Way Is Essex’ star says it is “physically more tiring” for her on the skating show more than anyone else because of the extra weight she is carrying.
She said: “James had to lift me into bed last night and help me run a bath. I’ve lost my independence and I can’t bear that. It was really upsetting because, at the end of the day, people have to cut me a bit of slack. I’m the biggest girl in the competition. It’s physically more tiring for me than for everyone else, I’m carrying weight that the others haven’t got. Both of my knees have taken a battering since doing the show, so that’s an area where I’ve suffered.
“I’ve fallen on my knees so many times I’ve been wearing kneepads to train. The medic was already worried. It was really painful yesterday morning. But to be honest, I want to get back out there on the show. Everyone’s rooting for me to do well so taking a week off isn’t an option as far as I’m concerned. If they can strap my knee up and give me a cortisone injection, I’ll be all right.”
And the 37-year-old television personality feels a “lot of pressure” from online trolls.
She added to The Sun newspaper: “Their viewing figures are through the roof, ain’t they? I’m not complaining, but it puts on a lot of pressure. I felt really unwell. There’s been so much stress after all the trolling and pressure. We are there from 7.45am on Sunday and do three rehearsals, plus a whole run-through of the live show. I’ve fallen in rehearsal, out of nowhere, and had anxiety. I was just under so much pressure from the week before so I just blacked out. But I knew I had to get back up and I’m so grateful I got up and just carried on.”

Oscar Isaac in final talks for Dune reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Oscar Isaac is in final talks to portray Timothee Chalamet’s on-screen father Duke Leto Atreides in the ‘Dune’ reboot.
The 39-year-old actor is poised join the ‘Call Me By Your Name’ star’s alter-ego Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi movie adaption of Frank Herbert’s classic novel, Variety reports.
The plot sees villainous Baron Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgard), whose family once ruled Arrakis, fight Paul as he leads a rebellion to restore his family’s reign of the desert planet after they are betrayed.
It was recently revealed that Dave Bautista – who worked with Villeneuve on 2017’s ‘Blade Runner 2049′ – had joined the cast as Glossu Rabban, the older nephew of Harkonnen.
Rebecca Ferguson is set to portray Lady Jessica, Atreides’ mother.
Villeneuve, Mary Parent, and Cale Boyter will produce the project, and Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Thomas Tull, and Kim Herbert will executive produce.
Legendary acquired the film and TV rights in 2016 after signing a deal with Herbert’s estate for his iconic tome.
The original 1984 movie featured Francesca Annis as Jessica, and Kyle MacLachlan played Paul, and Sir Patrick Stewart and Sting also appeared in the film, which was directed by David Lynch.
Villeneuve previously admitted ‘Dune’ is his “dream project”.
He said: “Once I commit, I commit. When Legendary offered me to do ‘Dune’, on a silver plate? Which was like my dream project that I’m dreaming to do for 30 years?
“I said yes right away.”
Filming is due to commence in Budapest and Jordan in spring.
Meanwhile, the 51-year-old filmmaker previously revealed he turned down helming Bond 25 to work on ‘Dune’.
He had been one the names touted to direct the final 007 movie starring Daniel Craig, but said no to the spy blockbuster because he was “busy” getting ready to fulfill his dream to remake the sci-fi epic.
He said: “The thing is I don’t know about that but listen, Daniel Craig is a very inspiring actor and I had some contact and the thing is that I’m busy right now doing ‘Dune’.
“But, I will say to have the privilege to work with him it would be a dream. I would love to work with Daniel and a Bond movie for me would be a treat. It’s a matter of timing, I guess.”

Gina Rodriguez unrecognisable after Miss Bala workouts

OHMYGOSSIP — Gina Rodriguez worked out so much for ‘Miss Bala’ that her co-star didn’t recognise her.
The 34-year-old actress plays a young woman who fights against a drug cartel to save her kidnapped friend in Mexico and had to put hours in at the gym, but she worked out so much that her co-star Anthony Mackie failed to recognise her.
She said: “Joe took me down his path of training and he’s a hardcore athlete. So that was definitely a world I had never entered into. It was a strict diet. It was working out seven days a week. Way too many hours a day. It’s a lifestyle I don’t think I wanna do. No, I’m kidding. Hopefully for a character but that’s what you go through, and the cool thing is having the opportunity to go through it, because, to be honest, if I wasn’t Miss Bala, I probably wouldn’t have put my body through that because it’s so strict.”
Whilst Anthony added to Entertainment Tonight: “Her hair pulled back, sweaty, [breathing hard]. I’m on the treadmill, like, jeez Louise these girls are going at it … So she comes over and she goes, ‘Hey Anthony, how’s it going?’ I’m like, ‘Hey’. She goes, ‘It’s Gina.’ I’m like, ‘Gee, you a rough. You are working. You are going for this character hard. Way to go champ! Like, whew, you’re burning a thousand calories today.'”
Meanwhile, Gina previously insisted fairer representation in the film and television industry would create a “much more tolerant” society.
She said: “Growing up as a Latina in the United States, I didn’t see us portrayed positively on TV. When you see certain images repeated so often, the reflection of representation on screen makes you feel a certain way about yourself … I just wonder how much more tolerant our society would be if there weren’t such stereotypical roles portrayed for so long. If Latinos weren’t always portrayed as the villain, would we really feel a particular way about that community? If Muslims weren’t portrayed as the terrorists, would we feel a certain way about that community? I don’t think so.”

Matty Healy teases mind-blowing Reading and Leeds set

OHMYGOSSIP — Matty Healy wants The 1975’s fans to feel like they are watching someone have their “teenage mind blown” when they headline Reading and Leeds.
The 29-year-old frontman of the chart-topping indie band has teased what fans can expect when the ‘Somebody Else’ hitmakers head up the main stage at Reading on August 23 and Leeds on August 24.
He explained that he wants their performance to come off “logistically slick” – but admitted he himself will have the exuberance of someone living out their wildest dream.
Speaking to Another Man magazine, he said: “I want Reading to be logistically slick – I don’t want things to break; I don’t want to drop the mic like in Love It If We Made It [at Camden Assembly last month].
“But I don’t want me to be slick at Reading – I want people to be watching somebody have their teenage mind blown for two hours. Because that’s what I would wanna see!”
Matty has promised their performance will be “fresh”.
He said: “The set’s changed quite a lot, which keeps it fresh for us, because we change it every night. At the moment it’s still a very fresh show for me, and I think that mood really dictates me, dictates my records – my attention span dictates my records, quite obviously – and I think that I don’t get that bored with life.”
And the ‘Chocolate’ hitmaker even hinted that the band will debut a few more new songs live, including ‘I Couldn’t Be More In Love’ from their latest album ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’.
He spilled: “By the time we get back to the UK, I want it to be as impressive, and new.
“I want you to come and see us in festival season and see ‘I Couldn’t Be More In Love’, and different things with equal amounts of … good. [laughs]”
Meanwhile, Matty recently revealed that being in England influenced their next record, ‘Notes On A Conditional Form’, created in London, which will be more British-sounding than their last project, which was partially recorded in Los Angeles.
Speaking about the difference in style between the two records, Matty said: “It’s because I’m in England.”
The synth-pop group – made up of Matty, Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald and George Daniel – are including a “narrative” in their latest record and the ‘It’s Not Living If I’m Not With You’ singer previously confessed that his latest two projects are not comparable.
He said: “It’s really deconstructed. There’s some quippy lyrical bits that will make up a narrative. I don’t want to compare ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ and this too much, because they are two completely different times.”
The ‘Give Yourself A Try’ hitmaker went on to explain that they didn’t save any tracks from ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ to use in the new album.
He said: “It was like ‘We can’t limit our record in fear of not making another good record.'”

Shawn Mendes’ Grammy nerves

OHMYGOSSIP — Shawn Mendes is “really nervous” for the Grammy Awards.
The 20-year-old singer’s track ‘In My Blood’ is up for Song Of The Year and he is also nominated in the Pop Vocal Album category at the ceremony next month and he admits he is really nervous as he can’t help but care what people think of his music.
Speaking in a video posted to Instagram, he said: “I was thinking about being really nervous for the Grammy’s and what makes me nervous when I’m performing and I realised that I care so much about what people think, whether it’s people sitting in the audience or if it’s what people are thinking online. I sit there and i just think in my head ‘Right, what do i have to do right now to impress people’ and I realise that’s the backwards thing and what I have to truly do is sit down and sing my song and truly connect with it. [I need to] get goose bumps form the fact that I’m enjoying what I’m doing so much and the only way the audience can truly feel, is if i’m feeling it too. If you are passionate about something or if you can take this in your own way … the goal is not to impress people, if there’s anyone you should worry about impressing it’s yourself.”
Meanwhile, Shawn previously revealed he can’t wait to get out on tour and will perform songs from his self-titled album live for the first time when he tours in 2019.
In a series of tweets, he wrote: “Dying to get back on tour and play this album for you guys!!!!!!!!! I cant believe I haven’t even played most of these songs live yet! (sic)”
Listing the songs, he added: “Mutual! Why! Particular taste! Etc t etc!!!!! (sic)”

Danny Dyer to host UK version of The Wall

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer is to host a US version of the game show ‘The Wall’.
The ‘EastEnders’ actor has recently proved a hit on the box outside of playing his Queen Vic landlord alter-ego Mick Carter on the BBC One soap, with a stint hosting ‘Have I Got News For You’ and discovering his family’s royal connections on the historical documentary ‘Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family’.
According to a source, the BBC are hoping the 41-year-old star – who found out in 2016 that he is related to Thomas Cromwell, Edward III, William the Conqueror and Henry III while he was filming for ‘Who Do You think You Are?’ – can help them have a “hit” with the Saturday night show, which will be based on the American version, which sees contestants drop balls into slots on a pegboard in a bid to win millions, as they know the nation loves Danny’s “banter and humour”.
An insider told The Sun Online: “In the eyes of bosses Danny can do no wrong and they think it could give them a Saturday night hit outside of ‘Strictly’.
“Danny’s banter and humour is why the public like him and they’re hoping to capitalise on that.”
Though it’s “early days”, Danny is reportedly set to head out to Poland to get the ball rolling and start filming – and the show could be on screens before the end of 2019.
The source added: “If it all lines up well they want it on TV later this year.
“It’s still early days but if it works and commissioners like it then there’s no reason why it couldn’t be a hit.”
The British broadcaster has reassured fans that ‘The Wall’ wouldn’t have any impact on Danny’s job at ‘EatEnders’.
They said: “The game show is not expected to affect his EastEnders commitments.”

She said: “We were really, really happy. You just feel everything at once.

“You’re just prepared when it happens, and we’re so happy it’s happened for us now.”
The former ‘Emmerdale’ star admitted she wakes up “happy” every day since finding love with Paul.
She said: “Something just clicks. If you’re in a relationship and it’s not working then you find yourself having to try.
“With him, it’s just not like that. We make an effort but it’s not hard work – it’s just so natural and effortless.
“I think that’s when you know it’s love, because every day you wake up and you’re happy.”
Paul added: “I didn’t believe in all that ‘when you know, you know’ stuff until I met Kirsty.”

She said: “The nice thing is, you know, I was actually just talking to a girlfriend today and saying it’s nice that I don’t feel pressure or responsibility. I do what I can when I can and it’s just so, in that way, it’s fun. It doesn’t feel like work.”
And Julia is a particular fan of Josh Brolin and Sarah Jessica Parker’s pages.

Meanwhile, Julia previously revealed her kids – Hazel, 14, Phinnaeus, 14, and Henry, 11, who she has with her husband Daniel Moder – want to know if she’s more famous than Taylor Swift.
She said: “I don’t think they will ever have a true sense of that. I think I told you once when they were starting to figure it out, it was like, ‘You’re famous?’ And I said, ‘I think a lot of people might have seen the movie that I’m in or might know who I am.’ Maybe an hour goes by. ‘Are you more famous than Taylor Swift?'”

Nick Cannon to host Wendy Williams Show

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Cannon is to guest host ‘The Wendy Williams Show’.
The ‘Masked Singer’ presenter is stepping up to take the reins on the daytime show between February 4-6 as the talk show host has extended her hiatus due to ill health.
Nick’s stint on the hour-long episodes will include regular segments such as Hot Topics, Ask Wendy and interviews with celebrity guests.
The 54-year-old presenter revealed a few weeks ago that she was taking another break from her show in order to “focus on her personal and physical wellbeing”, after previously stepping back in December when she fractured her shoulder.
Wendy had been due to return on January 21, having pushed back her return from January 14, but then announced it would be extended further as she was experiencing “complications” due to autoimmune condition Graves’ Disease.
In a statement on Instagram, the show wrote: “As Wendy Williams Hunter previously shared, she fractured her shoulder and has been on the mend.
“Over the past few days, Wendy has experienced complications regarding her Graves’ Disease that will require treatment. Wendy will be under the strict supervision of her physicians, and as part of her care, there will be significant time spent in the hospital.
“Despite her strong desire to return, she is taking a necessary, extended break from her show to focus on her personal and physical well-being. Wendy thanks everyone in advance for their well-wishes and for respecting her and The Hunter Family’s privacy during this time.”
Wendy previously took a three-week break from her show almost a year ago when she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease – an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid – in addition to the thyroid issues she was already aware of.
Debmar-Mercury, the distributor and producer of the show, said in a statement: “For over ten years, Wendy has been a vital part of the Debmar-Mercury family. We wholeheartedly support Wendy in this decision to take the time she needs and we will welcome her back with open arms the moment she is ready.”
