Eva Longoria wants to uplift other Latinas

OHMYGOSSIP — Eva Longoria wants to “support and uplift” her fellow Latinas.
The ‘Desperate Housewives’ star wants the best for her friends America Ferrera and Gina Rodriguez and gushed about how “inspiring” they are.
She said: “We were just together at Gina Rodriguez’s premiere for ‘Miss Bala’. It’s important to us to continue to support and uplift each other. America’s a leader. She’s an example. She’s smart, she’s intelligent, she’s inspiring. We had our babies at the same time, so we’re constantly leaning on each other for mother stuff. ‘What are you doing? Are you feeding? I’m feeding. Are you sleeping? Yeah, he’s sleeping.’ We’re constantly calling each other. We text all the time, we see each other all the time.”
And the 43-year-old actress will always fight to see more Latino men and women on television as she feels they are “underrepresented onscreen”.
Speaking as she promoted her new series, ‘Grand Hotel’, at ABC’s Television Critics Association winter press tour, she added: “There was a study that was out that makes sense: Latinos are 18 percent of the population, but we’re 23 percent of ticket buyers to movies, and we over index in TV, but we’re underrepresented onscreen and behind the camera. I want to create those stories for our community, because we can’t be what we can’t see, and if all you see on the news in the media is negative depictions of us, you have to counter balance that with our storytelling and our perspective. For me, I think when people see Latinos in television and media, it not only teaches others about minority communities, but it teaches us what we think of ourselves, and that’s what I want to change. We have to think of ourselves as more, and I want to show that on TV.”

Jennifer Lawrence confirms engagement

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lawrence has confirmed she is engaged.
Rumours had been swirling that the ‘Hunger Games’ star and boyfriend Cooke Maroney had taken their relationship to the next level after the actress was spotted with a “massive” ring on her finger and now her representative has confirmed the couple are set to say ‘I do’.
The pair are thought to have been dating since the spring, but they have remained tight lipped about their romance. They were spotted out together in June in New York City and have since been seen around the world getting cozy on numerous occasions. About two months after confirming their relationship, the couple vacationed in Paris for a few days, where they were seen holding hands.
Previously, sources claimed the ‘Red Sparrow’ actress was “happy” in her romance with New York art gallery director, after a dinner date they shared together back in June.
A source said: “They [were] super cuddly throughout dinner – very affectionate and comfortable with each other. She’s really happy. She has nothing to hide. This seems like the real deal.”
Cooke works at New York’s Gladstone Gallery, which represents artists including Lena Dunham’s dad, Carroll Dunham, as well as Richard Prince, Anish Kapoor, and Bjork’s ex, Matthew Barney.
He is known on the art party scene and previously worked at the prestigious Gagosian gallery.
Jennifer was introduced to Cooke by her best friend Laura Simpson.
A source added: “They met through Jen’s friend Laura. The relationship has been going on a few weeks. But they have been very private and careful not to be seen together.”

Spike Lee keen to work with Bradley Cooper

OHMYGOSSIP — Spike Lee would love to work with Bradley Cooper one day, years after he turned him down at an audition.
The ‘A Star Is Born’ hitmaker recently revealed he was rejected by the filmmaking legend around 10 years ago but Spike has insisted he is keen for the duo to team up professionally soon.
Asked if he would like Bradley to audition for him again one day, Spike said: “He ain’t auditioning no more, nor should he. You have to offer him the script, the role. He and I are cool and I would love to work with him one day, would love to, would love to.”
However, Spike admits he can’t remember rejecting Bradley but he joked the knock-back didn’t have any effect on his later career.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he added: “He says it happened, I believe him but he doesn’t know what it was. He wasn’t Bradley Cooper then, but you know what? It worked out for him. He’s doing alright. My brother Bradley Cooper, he’ll be alright.”
Bradley had previously revealed he auditioned for Spike a decade ago but was ushered out the room “quickly”.
Speaking during a panel discussion at the Directors Guild Theatre, he shared: “You get a chance to read for Spike Lee, you’re never going to forget that.”
However, it ended up working out pretty well for Bradley, as he has had a number of nominations this award season including an Oscar nod for the Best Actor prize for his performance as Jack Maine in ‘A Star Is Born’.
Admitting he would be “very emotional” if he won, he said: “If that were to happen, it’d be incredible. It’d be unbelievable. I’d be very emotional.”

Taika Waititi won’t direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Taika Waititi has ruled out directing ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’.
The future of the third movie in the sci-fi franchise has been unclear following director-and-writer James Gunn being fired from the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie by bosses at Disney following the emergence of old Twitter posts he made in which he joked about topics such as rape and child abuse.
Although Gunn has penned a script for the third instalment, a new director is yet to be found.
Waititi – who helmed 2017’s ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and 2011’s ‘Green Lantern’ – has said he’s not the man for the job, though he is in talks to work with Marvel again.
According to Deadline, he said: “I’m still hanging out with those [Marvel] and talking about new stuff. I want to do another movie with them.”
When pressed on whether he had been in discussions to replace Gunn, he replied: “I didn’t really. For me, those are James [Gunn]’s films. “Going into something like that with his stamp all over his films, would be like going into someone’s house and saying ‘Hey, I’m your new dad, and this is how we make peanut butter sandwiches now.’
“It feels kind of awkward.”
Chris Pratt – who plays Star-Lord in the movies – previously “promised” there will be a new chapter in the superhero franchise but admitted he didn’t know “exactly what that’s going to look like”.
He said: “I promise there’ll be a third movie, I don’t know exactly what that’s going to look like, but I know everyone on board is just eager to give the fans what they want and wrap up a trilogy in a meaningful way.”
Last year, Adam McKay confirmed that he was in talks with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about the possibility of helming the movie but didn’t say whether he will take on the role or not.
‘Vice’ filmmaker McKay said: “We’ve talked a little bit. Yeah. We were kicking around the idea of the Inhumans at one point. We’re always kind of talking. I think Feige is just the greatest and I think what they’re doing is amazing.”
Although Gunn won’t be working on ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ again he has been in talks to direct DC Comics’ upcoming ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel after it was previously revealed he was writing the script for the flick.
The movie is also said to have been given the title, ‘The Suicide Squad’, and it looks likely to be a reboot of sorts, rather than a direct sequel.
Warner Bros. have penned the film in for an August 2021 release.

Pink announces new single Walk Me Home

OHMYGOSSIP — Pink’s new single ‘Walk Me Home’ will be out in a couple of weeks.
The ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ hitmaker dropped a huge bombshell about new music as she made an appearance on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on Wednesday (06.02.19) and she also confirmed her new LP, ‘Hurts to Be Human’, will be out in April.
Telling the host, she said excitedly: “I’m shooting a video in a week I think, with Michael Gracey, the director from ‘The Greatest Showman’. I’m really excited about that. He’s amazing. I have a new song, ‘Walk Me Home,’ and I have a new album ‘Hurts to Be Human’. And I think it comes out in April.”
‘Hurts to Be Human’ will be Pink’s first studio album since 2017’s ‘Beautiful Trauma’ and the singer previously revealed she credits her broad appeal to being a “hot mess”.
She explained: “I think I’m just a hot mess and people appreciate that. But I look like … I go on tour and I look at the audience, and I can see every age. There’s no real demographic. There’s … it’s very surprising. It’s three generations. And that’s what I love about music. That’s … it’s the only sort of universal language that we all
speak. And I don’t know. I love that part. It’s wonderful.”
And Pink had previously opened up about how she got the inspiration for the title of her album ‘Beautiful Trauma’.
She said at the time: “I think life is really traumatic, and it feels – even though it makes me sound like my parents to say this – it feels like it’s getting more so. But I also think that there’s really beautiful people in the] world. And there’s more good than bad. And there’s love to be made and joy to be had. And I try to hold on to the beautiful part.
“But, you know, my dad always says something to me. He says, I wish you enough. And what he means by that is I wish you enough rain to be able to enjoy the sunshine. And I wish you enough hard times to be able to enjoy the easy bits. And that’s beautiful trauma to me. It’s simultaneous, but it just depends on which part you’re looking at.”

Stefflon Don and Ms. Dynamite to headline Strawberries and Creem

OHMYGOSSIP — Stefflon Don and Ms. Dynamite will headline Strawberries and Creem Festival.
The ‘Senseless’ hitmaker and the BRIT Award-winning rapper – who had a number one single in the UK with ‘Heatwave’ featuring Wiley and a top five with ‘Lights On’ with Katy B – will head up the Cambridge event at Haggis Farm on June 15, along with ‘Beautiful Girls’ hitmaker Sean Kingston and special guest, ‘Turn Me On’ star Kevin Lyttle.
For Sean, it looks set to be his first UK show since 2010, when he performed at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium in London.
The independently run music extravaganza felt having the two female artists topping the bill was a “close fit” to their “ethos”.
Addressing the lack of female headliners and performers at festivals across the globe, a spokesperson for the event, which is in its fifth year, told Metro.co.uk: “We’re aware of the male bias that exists on many bills, so pushing female talent felt like a close fit with our ethos as a brand.
“We also hope that by highlighting the incredible talent brought by Steff and the other women on our line-up that we can more fairly represent and champion the wealth of musical prowess across both sexes.”
As well as having throwback stars such as Ms. Dynamite, Sean and Kevin, the festival will also see the likes of rising R&B songstress Mahalia, ‘Jumanji’ rapper B Young and West London-based collective WSTRN perform at the one day event.
There are also expected to be a number of surprise guests after 2018 saw over 20 unannounced artists perform on the day – including Frisco and Shorty (Boy Better Know, MC Versatile and Abra Cadabra.
Tickets for Strawberries & Creem are priced at £45 and are available now from www.strawberriesandcreem.com/tickets

Michael B. Jordan needed therapy after Black Panther

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B. Jordan had “therapy” after starring in ‘Black Panther’.
The 31-year-old actor admits it was tough playing super-villain Erik Killmonger in the Marvel movie as he had to “isolate” himself a lot to play the role.
He said: “I went to therapy, I started talking to people, starting unpacking a little bit. I was by myself, isolating myself. I spent a lot of time alone. I figured Erik [Killmonger], his childhood growing up was pretty lonely. He didn’t have a lot of people he could talk to about this place called Wakanda that didn’t exist.”
And Michael has confessed immersing himself in the character “caught up” with him.
He added: “Of course it’s an extreme, exaggerated version of the African diaspora from the African-American perspective, so to be able to take that kind of pain and rage and all those emotions that Erik kind of represents from being black and brown here in America … that was something I didn’t take lightly. I didn’t have a process. I just did whatever I felt I needed to do or whatever I felt was right in the moment every step of the way. I didn’t have an escape plan, either. When it was all over, I think just being in that kind of mind state … it caught up with me.”
Michael found it “tough” readjusting to normal life at first but has urged others to seek out therapy as it really helped him being able to open up.
Speaking on Oprah Winfrey’s SuperSoul Conversations, he admitted: “It was a little tough for me at first. Readjusting to people caring about me, getting that love that I shut out. I shut out love, I didn’t want love. I wanted to be in this lonely place as long as I could … Your mind is so powerful. Your mind will get your body past a threshold that it would have given up on way before. Honestly, therapy, just talking to somebody just helped me out a lot. As a man you get a lot of slack for it … I don’t really subscribe to that. Everyone needs to unpack and talk.”

Liam Neeson premiere scrapped

OHMYGOSSIP — The red carpet premiere of Liam Neeson’s new movie was cancelled on Tuesday (05.02.19) following his controversial interview earlier this week.
The 66-year-old actor sparked a huge outcry when he candidly admitted he understood his character in his latest film, ‘Cold Pursuit’s desire for revenge after he had deliberately sought a racially-charged altercation because he was so desperate to “kill” someone after a female friend was raped.
And though Liam attempted to clarify his comments and insisted he is “not racist” in an interview on ‘Good Morning America’ on Tuesday, hours before he and his co-stars in the movie were due to walk the red carpet in New York, all interviews and photocalls were cancelled.
However, the screening of the movie was still scheduled to go ahead as planned.
Liam’s interview with The Independent was published on Monday (04.02.19) and though he admitted he was ashamed of how he’d felt at the time, he still experienced a huge backlash for his comments.
He had been describing his reaction when the female acquaintance confided in him about being raped and said: “I asked, did she know who it was? No. What colour were they? She said it was a black person.
“I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody – I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some ‘black b*****d’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could kill him.
“It took me a week, maybe a week and a half, to go through that. She would say, ‘Where are you going?’ And I would say, ‘I’m just going out for a walk.’ You know? ‘What’s wrong?’ ‘No no, nothing’s wrong.’ ”
He then gave a follow-up interview on ‘Good Morning America’ where he admitted he had been “shocked” by his “primal urge” for revenge.
He said: “I had never felt this feeling before, which was a primal urge to lash out.
“She said he was a black man. After that, there were some nights I went out deliberately into black areas in the city looking to be set upon so that I could unleash physical violence, and I did it for four or five times until I caught myself on.
“It shocked me, this primal urge I had. It shocked me. It hurt me.”
Liam admitted he sought help for his violent feelings.
He added: “I did seek help. I went to a priest, [he] heard my confession and I was a Catholic. I am not racist. This was nearly 40 years ago.”

Ariana Grande axes Grammy performance

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande has reportedly pulled out of performing at the Grammy awards.
The 25-year-old singer had been due to take to the stage at Los Angeles’ Staples Centre on Sunday (10.02.19) to sing one of her tracks but now she won’t even be in attendance at the annual event following a disagreement with organisers.
Sources told Variety that Ariana felt “insulted” when producers wouldn’t allow her to perform her latest single ‘7 Rings’ but a compromise was reached where the track would be part of a medley.
However, when the organisers insisted they would be choosing her second song, the ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ hitmaker – who appears on promotional billboards for the Grammy Awards – pulled out, with the insider explaining no similar restrictions had been placed on any of the evening’s other performers.
The ‘Thank U, Next’ hitmaker is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance for ‘God Is a Woman’ and Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘Sweetener’.
This isn’t the first time Grammy chiefs have had some last-minute problems with the performance schedule.
Last year, Lorde opted not to perform after discovering she was the only one of five Album of the Year nominees not offered a solo slot, as she’d been asked to be a part of a tribute to the late Tom Petty instead.
Instead, the memorial tribute saw Chris Stapleton and Emmylou Harris perform ‘Wildflowers’.
The other Album of the Year contenders – who were all male – were instead offered solo spots performing songs from their nominated LPs.
However, Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich later insisted that it’s not possible to host everyone on their own, even though the ‘Royals’ singer – who still attended the ceremony – had a “great record” in ‘Melodrama’.
He said: “It’s not for me to talk about. I produce the TV show. I don’t know if it was a mistake. These shows are a matter of choices. We have a box and it gets full. She had a great album. There’s no way we can really deal with everybody.”

21 Savage was born in London

OHMYGOSSIP — 21 Savage was born in London and moved to America when he was seven years old.
The ‘No Heart’ rapper – whose real name is She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph – was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Georgia on Sunday (03.02.19) and his legal team have now clarified some facts about his position as “conjecture and misinformation” has lead to “false conclusions”.
They explained how Savage was born in the UK and arrived legally in the US under an H-4 visa, where he stayed until 2005, when he left for around a month to visit his country of birth, before returning, again under a valid H-4 visa, in July 2005.
However, that expired the following year “through no fault” of the rapper.
The statement continued: “Mr. Abraham-Joseph has been continuously physically present in the United States for almost 20 years, except for a brief visit abroad. Unfortunately, in 2006 Mr. Abraham-Joseph’s legal status expired through no fault of his own.
“Mr. Abraham-Joseph, like almost two million of his immigrant child peers, was left without immigration status as a young child with no way to fix his immigration status. These ‘Dreamers’ come from all walks of life and every ethnicity.
“Mr. Abraham-Joseph has no criminal convictions or charges under state or federal law and is free to seek relief from removal in immigration court. ICE provided incorrect information to the press when it claimed he had a criminal conviction.”
The lawyers went on to stress the 26-year-old star has “exceptionally strong ties” to the US and should be able to successfully fight deportation.
The statement continued: “Mr. Abraham-Joseph has three US Citizen children, a lawful permanent resident mother and four siblings that are either US Citizens or lawful permanent residents.
“He has exceptionally strong ties in the United States, having lived here since he was in the first grade. Because of his length of residence in the United States and his immediate relatives, Mr. Abraham-Joseph is eligible to seek Cancellation of Removal from an Immigration Judge.”
According to the statement, Savage was placed into deportation proceedings after his arrest, and he has had a U visa application pending since 2013.
It read: “This U visa was filed as a result of being the victim of a deadly shooting in 2013. That visa was filed in 2017 and remains pending. When granted, the U visa will afford him lawful status in the United States. Generally, ICE has recognised a pending facially valid U visa as a basis to delay removal proceedings and release individuals from custody.”
The legal team insisted their client should be granted bond “by statute” as there is no reason to detain him, hinting he had been targeted because of his politically-charged lyrics.
They said: “There continues to be no legal reason to detain Mr. Abraham-Joseph for a civil law violation that occurred when he was a minor, especially when people in his exact situation are routinely released by ICE. Many have speculated as to possible ulterior motives for his arrest and detention, including that he released music five days prior to his arrest by ICE, which included new lyrics condemning the behaviour of immigration officials for their detention of children at the border.
“We are unaware of why ICE apparently targeted Mr. Abraham-Joseph, but we will do everything possible to legally seek his release and pursue his available relief in immigration court.”

Malcolm Hebden ‘looking really healthy’

OHMYGOSSIP — Malcolm Hebden is “looking really healthy” as he prepares to return to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 79-year-old actor will head back to the cobbles this year in a “sort of cameo”, and his co-star Dolly-Rose Campbell admitted the star – who took time off from the ITV soap last year to recover from a heart attack – is “really well”.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “He looks great. He is looking really healthy. He’s really well.”
‘Corrie’ boss Iain MacLeod confirmed late last year that Malcolm will be making a Weatherfield return.
He said: “He’s back for a short stint in a little sort of cameo return in the hope we can have him back permanently in the future.
“He’s on that list of Emily Bishops of characters who are so Corrie that the show doesn’t feel correct without them in there.
“Soap characters come and go – but I am reading bits in the scripts where I know Norris would have something to say.”
Iain also admitted the plot is “pleasantly silly”.
He said: “His return story is pleasantly silly and revisits his relationship with Mary in a meaningful way. I hope Malcolm likes it, he’s not read the script yet.”
In July, Malcolm revealed he had suffered a massive heart attack which left him in a three-week-long coma in December 2017.
He previously said: “Most of December I was in an induced coma, in the care of these brilliant, wonderful people at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU).
“Fortunately, I didn’t realise how bad it was; I was dying. The cardiac team, headed by Mr Zacharias, simply saved my life.”

EastEnders’ Sophia Capasso is a professional hairdresser

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ actress Sophia Capasso is a professional hairdresser.
The 23-year-old star – who joined the BBC One soap last year – trained as a pro tresses trimmer before turning to acting after her father, who is a barber, taught her his profession when she was at school.
She told Inside Soap magazine: “I’m a professional hairdresser.
“I trained while I was in the sixth form. My dad’s a hairdresser so he taught me.
“I think I’ve kept my hand in, It’s not my main skill, but it’s a handy one to have.”
As well as hairdressing, the brunette has always had a creative hand and tried painting and music before she joined a theatre group and found her passion.
She said: “I always knew I wanted to do something creative. I did a lot of painting, so it could have been art of music, as I played the piano, as well as the guitar. And I sang a bit.
“But then I joined a theatre group and I really enjoyed it. The more acting I did, the more I realised it was what I wanted to do. But I still like singing in the shower and in the car.”
Sophia says she sometimes gets “dodgy looks” in the street because people associate her with her menacing character Evie Steele, but she sees it as a good thing because it means her acting is convincing.
She said: “I’m pretty sure they hate me. I’ve had some dodgy looks, but I do try to assure people that Evie is just a character.
“If people don’t like her or are scared of her, though, then in a way I’m glad, because it means that I’m doing my job right.”

Malin Andersson’s daughter’s funeral to take place

OHMYGOSSIP — Malin Anderson’s daughter will be laid to rest on Wednesday (06.02.19).
The ‘Love Island’ star revealed last month that her and partner Tom Kemp’s daughter Consy had tragically passed away just four weeks after she was born seven weeks prematurely and though Malin is struggling to make “sense” of her tragic loss, she will say goodbye to the little girl later today.
She took to Twitter on Tuesday (05.02.19) evening and wrote: “So tomorrow’s the day I bury my daughter and lay her to rest free from pain. I love you unconditionally baby girl. None of this makes sense. CONSY-GLORIA.”
The 25-year-old star had previously used Instagram to announce her sad loss.
Malin – who lost her mother last year – shared a photo of her daughter on Instagram and wrote: “Completely in love with you.. and my Mum just wanted you to be with her.
“Your time wasn’t ready yet. Mummy loves you. I stayed with you each day.. you opened your eyes one last time for me and I saw those beautiful big brown eyes.
“I’m so sorry I couldn’t do anymore. Go be with grandma Consy.
“My angel. Rest in peace CONSY GLORIA EMMA ANDERSSON-KEMP.”
Days later, the heartbroken star shared a touching poem about the loss of a child.
The verse, which was originally written by Amy Farquhar in memory of her son Alfie, was shared on Malin’s Instagram Story and reads: “I lived my life inside you, cocooned in all your love. So mama, papa, please don’t cry. I’m still with you, just up above.
“I felt your every heartbeat, it’s my sweetest melody. And for every heavenly bedtime, the angels play it back to me.
“I know how much I am wanted, I feel so very blessed. Of all the mummy’s in all the world, I got the very best!
“You think of me in all your waking hours, and on those sleepless nights.
“Just look out the window and you’ll find me, the brightest star the most dazzling light.
“I’m that little breeze in the summer, and I’m that unexpected white feather. I plucked it from my downy wings, so that you remember we are always together.
“I know how much it hurt your soul, when we had to say goodbye. But I’m not gone, I’m always here. I’m your sweet little butterfly.”

Keeley Hawes: Durrells gets dark

OHMYGOSSIP — Keeley Hawes has promised the final series of ‘The Durrells’ will be “dark”.
The ITV drama series will skip ahead from 1937 to 1939 for the fourth season and the episodes will see the family’s tranquil life on Corfu disrupted when World War II breaks out.
Keeley – who plays Louisa Durrell – said: “It gets a little bit dark for the Durrells, which has always been a light and lovely show.
“The war is approaching, and they have to deal with that – as indeed the Durrells themselves did.”
In real life, the family arrived on the Greek island in 1935 and stayed until the war began, which prompted most of them to return to safety in England, though Larry stayed behind and later escaped to Egypt and Margo headed to South Africa.
Keeley and her co-stars – including Milo Parker, Josh O’Connor, Daisy Waterstone and Callum Woodhouse – feel “lucky” to have been able to tell the complete story of the family and she believes they are bowing out on a high.
She told RadioTimes.com: “We had an amazing time and we were so lucky that we were able to tell their story and to finish it off and to round it off in the way that we did, and it feels very complete, and we loved it.
“And I think this series – I really think it’s the best yet. Everything was thrown at it because we knew it would be the last, so I’m really excited for everyone to see it.”
And while Louisa’s affair with Spiro (Alexis Georgoulis) came to an end at the end of series three, the 42-year-old actress teased that may not be the end of the plot.
She said: “Spiro and Mrs Durrell, yeah – their friendship has to – well we’ll have to wait and see what happens at the end of the series.”

Bring Me The Horizon’s mainstream success continues as their genre-hopping LP ‘amo’ – which features a collaboration with pop star Grimes – gave them their first number one in the UK last week.
The likes of The Strokes, Chemical Brothers, Christine and the Queens, James Blake and Bon Iver are also set to perform at APE, which runs between May 24 and June 4.
